[Everybody take 60,000 XP for the previous scene.]
There is enough time for everybody to make it through the opening before it closes. There isn't time to dawdle, but you all get through without a problem.
On the opposite side of the wall, you find ruins. Buildings have been damaged and half-toppled, their wood beams and stone blocks spilled into the street. The streets themselves are damaged--holes and troughs and missing cobbles. It looks hazardous.
Lord Florian turns back into a raven and begins flying over the debris, staying low to avoid attracting notice from anything. The giants are inclined to bull straight forward, which has mixed results. They make progress, but there are also slips and falls and bellows of pain.
How would you like to try to get through this area?
[Note: the Mythal effects are now in play.]

Even though Aex isn't a fan of Giants, using them as a life shield doesn't sound very heroic... She rummages through her potions and digs up a couple of them...
"... euhm ... hi there... hullo?... hey! Down here!! ... ah... Aexana at your service Sir... please accept these for some better protection... " , Aex holds out 2 stoneskin and 2 protection from energy potions...
"And these will boost your strength!", and then she offers 2 bull's strength potions.
Her potions sure look tiny if those giants decide to use them but who knows... perhaps they will work even on their gigantic masses.

Now that they're through the wall, Rill will cast his spell upon Jozhur, designating the Guild Hall as the target. For 160 minutes, Jozhur will know the direction to and the correct path choices to take to get them there.
He also renews the Status effect running on Jozhur, Terser, Fang, Bralin, and Tahni.

If the giants are headed in the correct direction, the dwarf has no issue with them taking the brunt of the damage. But, the priority is to find the object of their quest, and thus, he is willing to diverge from their path as the situation warrants.

Another begins rubbing his on his armor. Most of them are drunk, however.
Terser asks Florian what treasures he seeks. Bird Florian does not answer. You have not heard him speak in bird form.
Rill begins casting spells, which Fang finds a little alarming because she paid attention to the mission brief. The Mythal flickers as Rill casts his first spell. Sparkling colors dance on a dome-shaped field over the city. Nothing else happens.

DM Kathy Thursday February 21st, 2019 11:50:02 PM Jozhur finds that he knows the direction to the Guild Hall. It was the Status spell that failed; the Find the Path spell worked just fine.
Bralin's two heads just look at each other. It's easy to tell which is the original head; he has two heads, but only one helmet. Come to think of it, that's probably going to affect his armor class.
Bralin's dilemma gives everyone pause. Tahni apologizes in advance for any weirdness she may cause. Aexana worries about her potions, and Terser about his elephant. For what it's worth, Aex has already distributed potions to the giants, and they seemed to work just fine.
Rill and Fang just acknowledge that this is happening now. Fang suggests being more careful. But spells are useful things, and as Tahni pointed out, spells are the main focus of some of the party. You're going to have to find a balance that works.

And Fang. The graveknights do not look especially nimble, but a couple of them get lucky and dodge some of the damage. Encouraged, Tahni tries to heal Fang. The spell works just fine, and Fang is healed 150 damage.
Jozhur lumbers up and Hulk-smashes one of the graveknights.
Aexana sends the staff treant forward to pummel one of the graveknights. His first slam misses, but the second one is a critical hit, so it all evens out. Meanwhile, Leafy moves forward and prepares to engage the enlarged one.
Rill dismisses his spell, and everybody returns to normal size. He uses Dimensional Hop to get closer to the front lines, but luckily his Cure spell is not needed.
Terser, back to normal size, attacks three times, and hits all three, though none of them are critical hits. Bralin joins him and does more damage. You both notice that the graveknight you are fighting wears a WLA badge. Once, this was a good-hearted adventurer. Now, he is a monster.
Fang takes a careful step, then flies into a rage. The graveknight she attacks has already been breathed on by Umith and clobbered by Jozhur, so it falls.
The formerly large graveknight attacks Terser. He hits twice, and Terser takes 57 points of weapon damage, plus 20 points of acid damage.
The three graveknights that were in a group line up to attack Rill. He is hit three times, one of them critical. He takes 108 points of weapon damage and 26 points of acid damage.
The remaining graveknight steps forward to engage the Staff Treant. The treant is hit twice for 49 slashing damage, which I assume does nothing, plus 17 acid damage.
Florian has shifted into knight form and is fighting two graveknights at once. He's pretty good. The giants are making good progress on their pack as well.

As the rest of the group move to catch up, Fang charges one of the creatures. It has reach, so it bites at her as she approaches. It hits! Fang takes 37 damage. In turn, Fang attacks! She hits and does damage of her own.
Terser summons his trusty elephant.
Jozhir calls out that the creatures are Ropers, and hurries forward with his shadow.
The roper takes its normal attack on Fang, and hits! Fang takes another 35 damage.
The other creatures do not act yet. They are difficult to see amid the broken chunks of buildings.
And the map. Anybody who rode the elephant can be even with Terser and Bralin.

When Jozhur explains what the creatures are, Umith raises an eyebrow. He flies to the east and turns to use his breath weapon once more.
Tahni has no idea what is being said but assumes that since the party are attacking these things that they should be considered as hostile. She decides it's a good time to remove the silence spell. Rill is a little worried about Fang's mental state. Rill will use Sense Motive to see if she's being controlled. (Sense Motive 37) He uses his Status spell to check on her health and any conditions that may be affecting her or others.
He can see some motion through the buildings. He (hopefully) pulls up a Blade Barrier to hem three of them in. This should prevent three of them from shooting those arms out at folks.
Or maybe Terser's elephant grows another head. Hard to say.
As Rill casts his spell, he looks to see if he can understand and perhaps compensate for what the mythal is doing to his spell casting. (Spellcraft 17.)

Still in her Silence, Tahni cautiously moves forward. Umith moves up and uses his breath weapon. The creatures are not especially nimble, but one of them gets lucky and manages to avoid some of the damage.
Rill is worried about Fang, but as far as he can tell, this is normal headstrong barbarian behavior; not something that is controlling her. Rill tries to cast a spell. The Mythal flickers, and the Blade Barrier springs up around the ropers just as he intended.
Terser sends Mr. Treetrunks on a stampede. The ropers, as has been established, are not nimble, so they take their opportunity attacks. They hit AC 23 for 37 damage; AC 27 for 30 damage; AC 21 for 38 damage. That is including the -4. Then they get trampled. Terser then attacks the roper Fang is fighting, hitting three times and just missing a critical hit. The roper isn't quite dead, but by the time Jozhur, Fang, and Aexana's friends are done with it, it is a goner.
Bralin moves up and prepares to defend the casters.
The three ropers inside the Blade Barrier do not act.
The two remaining ropers send out ropy strands toward the party.
Terser is hit twice. He must make 2 DC 25 Fortitude saves or take 4 and 2 points of Strength damage. He is also pulled 5 feet toward the roper, which doesn't quite pull him off Mr. Treetrunks.
Fang is hit once. She must make a DC 25 Fort save or take 4 points of Strength damage. She is also pulled 5 feet toward the roper.
Jozhur is hit twice. He must make 2 DC 25 Fort saves or take 4 and 2 points of Strength damage. He is pulled 5 feet toward the roper.
Bralin is hit twice. He must make 2 DC 25 Fort saves or take 4 and 4 points of Strength damage. He is not pulled, being all dwarfy and stuff.
Leafy is hit once, and must make a DC 25 Fort save or take 1 point of Strength damage. He is pulled 5 feet toward the roper.
The staff treant is hit once, and must make a DC 25 Fort save or take 6 points of Strength damage. He is too big to be pulled.

She then calls for the rest of the group and all of the injured giants to gather close so she can channel energy into all of them. Since it's not a spell, there shouldn't be much risk of the Mythal reacting. She will channel up to 3 times if there is enough time to do all 3 before the next fight starts. Rolls are 12, 10, and 14.

Jozhur looks about, trying to determine the path to the guild hall. When they move out, he will resume scouting ahead.

Aex happily hands out the potions asked - at last they come in handy... Meanwhile she listens to the discussions at hand. Yes their latest crew member is a bit too fierce perhaps but they've had worse... not every battle goes according to plans right... well most certainly not with the Black Lions... then... basically no plan ever goes according to plan!
Looking around she wonders where they are to go next.
"I can scout from above if you like? Or we can all go airwalk - I have sufficient material to get you all airborne. "
DM Kathy Sunday March 10th, 2019 10:38:34 PM Tahni attempts to dispel the Silence, but finds there's nothing to dispel. The Silence effect has worn off. Apparently the Mythal effects don't last as long as the equivalent spell.
Fang moves up and channels energy to heal the giants.
Rill is distressed that Fang keeps running off like that and asks her to stay with the group. Fang points out that you have an alliance with the giants, but Rill says that was only temporary. Jozhur tends to agree, pointing out that the giants keep leaving you behind.
Terser asks Jozhur to lead the group. The Find the Path is still active, and Jozhur can tell that the Freeman's Token is that way, which is, of course, the direction the rhythmic thumping is coming from. And was that a growl?
Bralin asks for potions from Aexana, which she gladly provides. She offers to scout for the group.
Fae Skiemir is a city. The part you're in is all tumbledown and ruined, which is how the ropers were able to conceal themselves. Possibly, it's also why the big thing--whatever it is--hasn't come for you yet. However, you know that the city is positively overrun with monsters. It's only going to get more difficult from this point.

Everybody who is not a Jubjub Bird (which is everybody unless one of you has been seriously holding out) needs to make a DC 26 Fortitude save or be stunned for 1d4 rounds.
And the map. I moved the Staff Treant off the grid because he's a staff again. I wasn't sure about Jozhur's shadow, so I moved him off the grid, too.

Fort save 24 - is this considered fey magic? Else Aex has +4... if not she would be stunned for 4 rounds. Better call in a hero point... omg... even worse 22!! Guess the old gal is stunned for 4 rounds anyhow.
And then it depends on the Mythal to see if the Air Elemental is there or not...
Leafy barely resists the awesome shriek (Fort save 26). He notices Aex is out cold and put himself in between the Jubjub bird and the little greenmage. He'll defend her no matter what...

As he shakes off the effect, he moves up behind Fang and (hopefully) casts Holy Aura, and all but Uruth and the Shadow are surrounded by a brilliant aura. (Each has SR 25, AC and Save bonuses, mental protection, anyone striking you must make a DC 26 Fort save or be blind.)
(As for Fang's healing, there was plenty of time earlier to have addressed this when Rill mentioned it as we moved away from the Ropers. Rill suggested anyone injured using Aex's potions or that Rill would address the healing of she did not. So I'm saying that may have been done already?)

The Jubjub Bird's shriek stops Jozhur, his shadow, Bralin, Umith, and Axana all stop in their tracks. [Notes: it is not fae magic, and yes, I wanted everybody to roll their rounds individually.]
Terser shrugs it off and keeps on fighting. His dwarven thrower hit last round, but this round it bounces off the bird's tough skin without doing damage. Also, it heals some of the damage from last round.
Tahni begins casting a spell. She won't know the Mythal effect, if any, until she finishes casting.
Rill attempts to cast Holy Aura. The Mythal flickers, but the spell goes off just fine.
The bird flies up to Terser and tries to bite him. It succeeds! Terser takes 34 points of damage and is grappled. The bird is not blinded.

With a number of the group stunned the party are significantly weaker. Worse still if that bird shrieks again. Tahni decides to go for broke.
"I'm going to get close to the bird. Try not to get too close to me though. I'm serious about that"
Tahni uses her hide-away ability to turn invisible and then flies next to the Jubjub. She has no doubt it can smell where she is, but being invisible she does feel concealed (for the most part)
"I just hope this works"
--------------------------- Tahni - Move action: Use Fey Hide-away ability to go invisible - Move action: Fly next to JubJub. Invisibility doesn't provoke an AoO vs Scent. The Jubjub will be starting its turn next to Tahni and will be subject to the Cloak of Dreams spell. SR Check: 29. JubJub to make a Will Save vs DC28. Assuming the Jubjub has Scent the DC goes up to 32. Fail=Fall asleep for 1minute. Pass=Tahni likely in trouble - IF anyone in the party ends their turn next to Tahni they also need to save I'm afraid

He knows that when Tahni says to keep his distance from her she means it. He moves up a bit and decides to try something. He reads a Remove Paralysis scroll hoping that perhaps it will affect the stunned condition of Bralin. As he does so, he watches the Mythal to see if it flashes. He's trying to determine if reading a scroll can be affected by the Mythal.
----------------------------------- (Unclear if Remove Paralysis will affect the stunned condition. The spell says, "You can free one or more creatures from the effects of temporary paralysis or related magic, including spells and effects that cause a creature to gain the staggered condition." Terser pops out of the bird's beak, much to the confusion of the bird. He attacks, and hits twice. [I had always interpreted Vital Strike to mean that you could only make one attack. I'll count both of them this time, and see what the Rules board has to say.]
Rill attempts to cast a spell from a scroll. It does not trigger the Mythal, but it also does not remove the Stunned condition.
Fang approaches the bird. Since its mouth is no longer full, it can make an attack of opportunity, which it does. It hits! Fang takes 30 points of damage and is grappled!
Tahni sneaks up to the bird, attempting to use her spell to put it to sleep. The bird fails its save and falls asleep. It begins plummeting out of the sky, with Fang still clutched in its beak!

(There may have been an oversight here. If I understand correctly, the Jubjub Bird is asleep, which gives it the helpless condition. A helpless creature cannot take any actions, which includes maintaining a grapple.)
If for some reason the unconscious bird does not automatically release Fang or if Fang cannot release herself, Rill will move forward and use Dimensional Hop to move her out of the creature's mouth (but he's hoping to not need to use this.)
If Fang is OK on her own, Rill will Channel Energy to add some healing to the injured, and then get folks moving before more bad guys arrive. If Fang's rescue is not needed, he Channels Energy for 28 points of healing to all.

The non-stunned members of the party follow the bird as it falls. Fang wriggles out of the beak. Rill channels energy to heal the rest of the party. At Tahni's suggestion, Terser attempts a coup de grace. His strike doesn't kill the bird outright, but it dies of the sudden shock of the wound. [It has a good Fort save, but not that good!]
Meanwhile, Bralin, Jozhur, and Aexana remain stunned. Jozhur's shadow comes back to itself, and Leafy continues tending Aexana.
The rest of the party can see that the Flying Polyp and the Plasma Ooze are fighting each other. The Ankou is nowhere to be seen. The Xanthos appears to have been left behind, and the skies are clear for the moment.
Of course, as Rill just pointed out, Jozhur is going to want his swords, which dropped from his hands when he was stunned. They are below--somewhere.
