Quiet Brom waits to see what the rest of the party will do.
Barratore has reservations -- can a caster use a spell to see what if these “nails” are on the up and up? -- but the taur bravely declares that he will be the first to test it out.
But there seems no chance that the items will be “donned” immediately. Tishe’ says, “The risk is too great.” Velarin will not even consider that one of his friends should use one.
Diplomatic Emrys and cynical Edson are also skeptical.
Forward-thinking Lanliss is already pondering the party’s next move. Tishe too is ready to go forward, or rather, back, to Kelsandria’s realm.
The magical nails are stowed away, and the party turns to the door to the garden realm. Within, over the sill, you see Kelsandria’s realm again: It is a land populated with peaceful plants and fungi in an eternal state of different seasons. All is in eternal youth and health. This eternal garden is a vast open space of rolling hills and forests. The endless sky has sun, moon, clouds and stars.
Before you stands the half elf champion of Kelsandria -- Axendur. He is a lone figure standing in amidst the flowers about 100 feet away from you, clad in green armor decorated in leaves and vines. Axendur calls out, “Ah, at last! And this time I am *sure* you have brought Maegos’s armor!”

Once through and spoken to by Axendur, the Spellweaver looks about: Braella had golem helpers, and her mind is certain some of the vegetation is not as peaceful as it seems. “No”, replies the woman, “we spoke with Maegos and left him where he was in his armor, and now we have come to speak with Kalesandria.”

(Who took a fly spell besides Barratore? Emrys choose the recipients of the protection from spells please)
Pre battle responses and actions: V reaches into his backpack and pulls out one of his diamonds used for limited wish. He tosses it to Emry's. "I use these for limited wish spells, but I have three more. It's worth 1500, and we can replace it after we get back. Put your spell on whomever you wish."
V then nods at Barratore's statement of intent. "So be it."
Battle has begun: V moves in as well, and rises 20' into the air, and starts scanning the area for the Rangers backup.(perception check 23). V feels relatively confident that with all the prep spells, the fighters should be able to deal with the Ranger. He was concerned about where the Rangers helpers were. The Golems of Maegos were out in the open, but nature liked to camouflage it's threats, not parade them around. (should V observe a threat before it gets to the party, he will drop an empowered fireball on the threats or use a wall of force to prevent them from engaging the group, whichever is more appropriate to the situation.)

(Pre-battle:
During lunch, Emrys accepts the diamond from V and says, "You can have them all back afterwards, they're not consumed by the spell, they're the focus!" And he will ask for the other three if V doesn't mind loaning them for a short time. (Let me know how many more, you'll allow me to take.)
(Emrys casts Protection from Spells and infuses each diamond with the magical ward. +8 resistance bonus to all spells and spell-like abilities. Duration: 170 minutes. Depending on how many diamonds (1 to 4) V allows him to have, he will hand each diamond in this order: Lanliss, Edson, Brom and Barratore. just before heading in.)
Once through the door, Emrys tests a theory about the inhabitants of these realms. The time elemental eluded to it, and what he witnessed of Maegos and his champion, he wonders if the same applies here.
(Emrys casts Control Undead on the Ranger. Will save: 31. Duration: 17 minutes. Can effect up to 34HD of undead.)
Emrys gives the Champion a request, "Please surrender and submit peacefully! I don't wish to harm you."

Brom charges their opponent with Barratore letting his rage fill within him. Coming in hard he takes a mighty swing.
Tishe’ casts her dispel, possibly removing buffs? Hard to say for sure.
Hasted Barratore flies above Axendur, attacks, and crits! But Axendur is wearing fortification armor! Does that negate the crit? The d100 roll is an 11, so there is no crit. Axendur still takes 62 damage. Barratore, please do not forget the DC15 fly check to hover!
Edson moves up, swings, and misses.
Lanliss takes a moment to look around carefully. He sees that the vines on the ground next to Axendur are actually two plant creatures! The terrain is otherwise clear for 100 ft or more aroundabouts, aside from the ground cover, basically grass and leafy plants.
Velarin readies an action to fireball or wall-of-force Axendur’s friends, but by the time Lanliss sees them, Edson and Barratore are in melee range, so Velarin holds off with the spells.
Emrys casts Control Undead on Axendur. It has no effect.
Brom charges. Unlike Edson, Brom does not try to dodge attacks of opportunity as he moves. Both vine plants launch viney attacks on him as he advances. Both miss. Brom attacks Axendur and inflicts 64 damage.
Axendur regenerates 2 hp. He already has both weapons drawn, axe and scimitar. He tries to trip Brom and fails. He tries to trip Edson and succeeds. Edson falls and is prone!
Axendur uses his remaining full attack on the prone Edson. He swings twice more with his scimitar and once more with his ax.
The first scimitar swing hits AC42 and is a crit threat. It confirms vs AC43, so that’s a critical. The damage is 17+19, plus 11 cold damage.
The second scimitar swing hits AC45, also a crit threat, confirmed vs AC37, so that’s confirmed too. Damage is 18+16, plus 12 cold damage.
The last attack is with the hand ax. It hits AC34, a hit but not a crit. Damage is 13 plus ten cold damage.
Total affect on Edson: Prone plus weapon damage of 36+34+13=83 plus 36 cold damage. TOTAL: 119 damage
Axendur’s two vine pals use their long tendrils to attack Barratore. That’s three misses and two consecutive natural 20s for a confirmed crit. Damage to Barratore is 13 damage plus a grapple check (fails due to free action) and a DC18 will save (vs domination poison) please as its sap enters Barratore’s bloodstream.
VERBAL MAP: Axendur is at the center of the fight. Flanking him are two vine plants to the north and south. Also flanking to the east and west are Edson (prone) and Brom. Barratorre is hovering overhead. Lanliss is 30 ft from Axendur to the west. Velarin, Tishe’, and Emrys are 40 ft away to the west (near the door).

Lanliss moves more closely and shouts to the party "Should I open the door ?", He stops left to the critter and Axendur. A split look at the door, A thought crosses his mind, but the door is too far. The last thing he wants is to draw attention to the lesser strong keepers. He moves even more close to Axendur, trying to find a more easy spot for him to have an advantage. "Fight that is", Lanliss thinks.
Making a stop close to Axdendur and old idea from the academy comes to his mind. It was a stupid idea, improbable one, but could he do it? If he can take Axdendur attention, the keepers would be able to land a more precise strike against their enemies.
Lanliss then shouts as a way to divert attention to him and shouts in a tone that even he doesn't know or recognize
"Barratore !, Keeep him busy" "I am going to drink the potion that Maegos gave us" Lanliss then looks at Axdendur and takes a flask, the flask of oil to bless the weapon" and makes a motion of drinking and drinks it.

Tishe’ flies higher and closer, hovering for a good view and then casts Ice Wall, a north-south Line to separate Edson and Axendur. That works fine. Then she starts in on the south-plant-creature, casting Quickened Scorching Ray and hitting for 37 fire damage.
Velarin casts Chain Lighting on Axendur and then on his plant minions. The bolts blast home! 59 to Axendur, 29 to each plant. Axendur is down!
Barratore, deprived of his main foe, attacks a plant and inflicts 66 damage!

Now healed, Edson activates his invisibility from his ring. Using a move action he tries to get up while invisible, and takes a 5' step. (Acrobatics 50 to negate aoo -- which is good, because the plants have tremorsense and could have taken AoOs. Usually if you are invisible, you do not provoke AoOs.)
Lanliss distracts the enemy with a bluff and a pretense of using a special potion. He moves a step closer. (OOC: can’t do all that AND move up to flank AND use total defense. NEXT round you can move to flank and use total defense)
Brom pauses, amazed at these events!
Vine 1 flails at Barratore, needing nat 20s, and missing four times.
Lanliss’s ploy succeeds, so Vine 2 flails at him, hitting Lanliss once, trying to grapple, and failing in that. Lanliss takes 8 damage and a DC18 will save (vs domination poison) as its sap enters his bloodstream.
VERBAL MAP: Axendur is dead. Two vine plants with long reach are still fighting. In melee range is Barratore and Brom. Edson is seperated from the fight by a wall of ice. Lanliss is 25 ft. Velarin, Tishe’, and Emrys are 40 ft away.

Juicy Fruit (DM Cayzle & DM Michael) Monday August 5th, 2019 11:31:54 PM Edson looks at the woman for a few seconds. He notices the green tinged flower. Was this who they seeked. It only seemed obvious. He scans around her for any potential ambushes or traps and doesn’t find any. He turns and heads back to the others -- once close he discloses about the woman with the flower.
Lanliss thinks about an old lesson about magic and nature and attempts to do something. He’s not quite sure what he’s doing, but he’s really going for it. Acting on instinct, he pulls out a magic dagger and a flask of acid, and starts juggling both along with a glowing pulsing blue fruit, He carefully takes a taste of the fruit as it passes, trying his best not to accidently bite the dagger or the acid. He successfully “activates” the fruit, and feels magic coursing through his body ... Lanliss’s skin turns blue and he feels more nimble (+5 on Acrobatics checks).
Velarian continues to hover, hearing what Edson has said is within the grove does not improve his disposition on the trap. "We are once again at a crossroads with how to proceed." He looks to Barratore practically apologetically, "I believe we should land and speak with her."
Barratore nods as Edson provides a layout. "We probably should have asked Meagos what the stupid flowers look like." The minotaur sighs and resigns himself to what is to come. "So we land ask her for the flowers, the whole place attacks us en masse, and we rely on dumb luck to see us through?" Barratore shakes his head, "Not doing that. I think we shout from up here. She gives up the flower or we decimate the place."

Brom thinks that Velarin has the right idea ... go talk to her.

Lanliss is flabbergasted by what just happened. He moves his legs a little bit, jumping in place on the tips of his feet. "I feel more nimble", he smiles and feels happiness when he actually feels that feeling of quickness and agility, proud of making something work magically. ...."The fruits contain magic", he says confidently "The all forest is probably a garden full of magic". "Do be careful, we are dealing with something quite deadly" "We are dealing with the mother of all of this", He concludes and makes a motion pointing everything around him.

Barratore remains airborne, even as Tishe floats down to Lanliss. The rogue was lucky to be alive, let alone thrilled as far as the fighter was concerned. The others had some differing thoughts on how to handle the upcoming situation. The fighter would simply wait for the inevitable. As much as he wanted to skip to the end
