DM Mitch Monday July 22nd, 2019 7:25:32 AM Restlin introduces himself and the group. Wyarr scans for evil and finds none. Garret also introduces himself and asks for breakfast. Sesha smiles at Garret Tink tries to hide. Beri lets the voice know that the portals should be fixed. Zane prepares to defend his allies.
The voice responds, Welcome Restlin, Garret and the rest of the group known as The Iron Dragons. I am the Watcher, entrusted with the task of observing the events of this world and the powerful artifact at its center until the end of time. In a world such as this where 3 factions are locked in eternal strife, comings and goings with respect to the gate are a rare thing. I saw some of the barbarians from the nomadic tribe of Humans sucked through the portal as one of your group suggested and figured others could enter the gate from the outside. As to where you are well it has many names Hell, Pandemonium and Valhalla being but a few. There is a large tribe of nomadic human barbarians locked in eternal genocidal conflict with a martial band of Half-Orcs. They have been fighting each other since before I was created and are locked in a stalemate. Each has designs on the Orb of Mercurial Insight, located at the heart of this world and guarded by an order of gnome monks who have sworn to prevent its misuse. The monks and the orb reside in a formidable fortress being assaulted on both sides by each group. As to your question Garret, I think breakfast ended hours ago as it is late afternoon. May I ask why you have come here?

Restlin thinks "Orb of Mercurial Insight" just might be a heart of chaos, but how to get it?
He decides to be straight with this Watcher. "We're looking for pieces for a ritual we need to complete to stop a rogue god from doing further damage to our world. The one who watches this portal on our side of it said we'd find some of those pieces here." He lefts the rest unsaid for right now. He doesn't want to give the impression that they're here to take what they need.

Beri listens to the Watcher, not quite sure where the voice is coming from, and a little put off by the mention of where they find themselves. Excuse me Watcher, it sounds like you have been watching this go on for a very long time. If the monks are still protecting the Orb of Mercurial Insight it sounds like both sides are intending to misuse it. What would be the proper use of the orb, and is it's existence here exasperating the eternal strife you mentioned/

DM Mitch Tuesday July 23rd, 2019 7:40:11 AM Restlin explains what the party is here fore. Sesha wonders what happens to people who die here. Garret thinks they should go meet the monks. Wyarr things monks are also a good idea and suggests flying. Beri asks what the proper use of the orb is. Bosk listens carfully. Sesha reflects on the extremely odd things the party has seen recently. Zane points out there are different kinds of monks. Tink advises caution about who they talk to about their intentions.
The Watcher asks Restlin, What kind of items are you looking for to complete your ritual? The Watcher says to Sesha, When a warrior falls here, there body turns to ash within a few minutes. Their gear remains intact though. Another warrior magically rises to take their place. The Watcher says to Garret and Wyaar, I can help you navigate the battlelines to reach the monks if that is what you wish. The Watcher says to Beriothian, I honestly do not know the purpose of the orb, for as long as this realm existed so has the orb. However if either of the warring factions got their hands on the orb they just might be able to wipe out the other factions for good. While the monks possess the orb they are sworn to never touch it and to guard others from gaining access to it lest they be tempted to wield its power for ill.
The Watcher peels himself away from the wall, there is a brief shimmering like some sort of magic or technological field turned off and standing near you is a tall metallic looking being with a hardened head resembling an armored helmet. The Watchers body is interesting. Some is straight metallic looking while others appears to be glass? Beneath the glass parts their appears to be gears, pistons and pulleys. Some sort of complex mechanism appears to be keeping the watcher going.

Zane is prepared to defend Restlin. Beri wonders if the monks are against specifically the two groups or anyone in general who might misuse it. Bosk wonders about the armys armament.
The Watcher says to Restlin, "I have been tasked to observe what transpires here and I have been doing so for a very long time. I honestly would like to observe something else. This ritual of yours seems like it could be different from the ceaseless killing that happens here all the time. On top of that the monks might honestly be happy to be rid of the orb if you can prove to them you won't misuse it. I feel bad for them for while the half-orcs and humans hunt each other for sport the gnomes well they have the smallest force and are forced to hold a position being assaulted on 2 fronts. They don't go looking for trouble. The humans and half-orcs have tried many times to take the citadel from the gnomes and so far the gnomes have been able to beat them back but the tactics used by the humans and orcs are gradually becoming more sophisticated. You might be able to help the gnomes as much as the gnomes can help you. As I said I am more than willing to help navigate the battle lines to get to a place where we can parlay with the gnomes and potentially even gain access to the fortress. Though as I said you would have to convince them. They may be wary as some of your number are human but I can vouch that you didn't come from here"
The watcher leads the party a little ways away from the wall he was previously using for camouflage and finds another wall. He touches something and there is a sound of stone scraping on stone as a passageway reveals itself.
Well take the underground. There is a series of tunnels below the surface that run all over this land. Lucky for you the gate isnt too far from the citadel that the gnomes guard. The funny thing is the gnomes seem to be the only one besides myself who know about the underground so they are the only ones who post sentries down here. We should be able to pass through these passages unmolested and then when we get to the chamber below the fortress Ill identify myself to the gnomes and explain from where you came and you can tell them your purpose in coming here.
The passages wind on and on as the Iron Dragons and mechanical man make their way through a veritable labyrinth. There are high stone walls and the occasional wall sconce containing a torch. Additionally strange symbols in different colors sometimes adorn the wall near where passages branch off. Someone who didnt know where they are going could easily get lost down here. Its good you have a guide.

Garret wanders down the occasional side passage trying to learn what the runes mean Restlin says he said nothing about stealing, he just wanted to be honest with the watcher. He can determine the symbols are some language hes never heard of, but cant read it without determined study. Zane wonders if one of the Monks will join the group. Beri points out the Gnomes might distrust humans so someone non-human should talk. Bosk has nothing to add.
The guardian says to Beri, When I was first activated a voice in the darkness said, Rise now my watcher. Go forth and observe what transpires here. I do not know how the gnomes came to occupy the citadel. For they already held it when I was activated. I have been allowed to travel this world and am known by all factions as a neutral 3rd party. I have been inside the citadel once but the topic never came up.
After a few more twists and turns the Guardian escorts you into a large chamber. 2 small gnomes, one orange, one magenta guard a formidable looking door at the far side of the chamber. As they notice you approach they raise their quarterstaves and one calls out, Who goes there? What is your business?
The Watcher calls back, It is I the Watcher. You know my task is to but observe, well today I have observed something most unusual. Our realm has been visited by strangers from another world. We are also happy to answer any questions we can regarding the quest we are on.

The 2 gnomes exchange glances when Restlin introduces himself.
They were just about to say something when Garret wanders up and gives the orange one a hug.
The orange one looks down at the dried meat Garret offers and says, "Thank you for the generous offer but we have our own supplies." He gives Garret a few polite taps on the back, as he awkwardly returns the hug and disengages.
The Magenta one who you happen to realize is female says, "Wait here." She executes a series of quick knocks on the door and it surprisingly swings inward quickly. She disappears down the hallway and just as quickly the door swings close.
The orange one says to Beri, "We aren't sure what its proper use is. We just don't think either the humans nor the half-orcs should be allowed to use it given their quest for supremacy with respect to this land. Therefore we have no choice but to guard the orb and this fortress is the most defensible position available to us. What would you use this 'heart of chaos' as you called it for?"
Wyaar realizes that the orange one does not register as evil. Given Monks strong preference for Order over Chaos, either the gnome is suppressing his alignment or he is most likely Lawful Neutral or Lawful Good

Beri is a little nervous regarding how to answer their question. The short version is that we be using it to save the entire world. We will be using it to unlock a seal designed to be impossible to unseal as our realm doesn't contain the required items, a seal that unfortunately has started to leak. There are three possible outcomes to our world's situation. First, the seal remains unbroken but leaky, and that contained within will continue to contaminate our world. Second, the followers of the one contained within learn how to break the seal and do so. They surely will if they can. Or third, we break the seal and set about a fight that a great power in our world has been preparing for. If we open it the one contained within will be met and destroyed as he steps forth before he gains full power.
Beri takes a breath, unsure how they will respond to the last detail of the story. And I regret to say it is my understanding that the object will be burned up and destroyed in the process.

Zane points out that itfs the hearts that will be destroyedc which is what the orb will be used for. He introduces himself. Tink smiles at Garret too.
The Orange gnome says to Garret, gNo, sadly none of our number know that maneuver. Do you?h
The Orange Gnome says to Beri, gMayhap being rid of the orb would be best. If it were taken away and then destroyed then no one will be able to use it.h
The Orange Gnome returns the minotaurfs bow and says, gPleased to meet you Master Stormfronth
In about the timespan of the exchanges between the Iron Dragon and the Orange gnome the Magenta Gnome returns and the door swings open again. She says to the Iron Dragons, gYou may enter but do not touch the orb. We have not decided what to do at this time and you must speak to more of our order.h
The 2 gnomes escort you through the bowels of the fortress gradually taking you upward. Eventually you emerge in a large common room where a number of gnomes are seated. Many are clustered around the edges of the room while 8 gnomes sit upon a raised dias.

The various monks greet Garret as he comes over to where the monks are gathered.
The monks sit fascinated by the story that Restlin tells.
Zane sees that the assembled gnomes are a fairly proficient bunch, not as skilled as Garret but close and certainly better trained in the martial arts than he is.
The green gnome sitting at the center of the table with slightly pointier ears than normal says, "Help you we can yes? The orb, we do not use it for fear of what could overtake the user. Not sure if you should have it though as lying you could be. Uncertain the future is...." and he is cut off mid sentence as a loud gong sounds

The party forms teams and are guided up through the fortress to the walls to join the oncoming battle.
The Bridge team find themselves on top of the wall overlooking a large moat or river bellow. A large bridge crosses it, and already a ram is halfway across it, protected by screen of half-orc warriors. A hail of arrows and shurikens is being exchanged by the combatants, and across the moat they can see the enemy army camp, housing hundreds, if not thousands of enemies.
On the boat side of the fortress the party finds themselves showing up in an already fierce battle atop the wall. One of the boats has pulled up to the wall and attached itself with ladders and grappling hooks. Almost a dozen barbarians have already scaled to the top and more are climbing up ladders as you watch. Across the moat the barbarian army rests, equally as large as the half-orc one.
Both parties find a mix of gnome and enemy corpses and notice something odd. While the freshest corpses look normal, several are turning grey and others are half collapses in on themselves as they become dust. From the size of the enemy army and the fact theyre warriors return in minutes the head monk is right - the only way to end this is to destroy all of their siege weaponry so they cant breach the walls. Their numbers are endless.

It looks like Zane, Garret, Restlin and Wyaar have made their way to the ramparts facing the bridge. Restlin asks if there is any reason why they cant just destroy the bridge. A gnome says to Restlin, You can try to destroy the bridge if you can but itd probably be harder than destroying the siege weapons. If they break the gate in while youre doing that were in trouble.
Garret makes an observation that he doesnt think hell be much help. Zane limbers up his wings and tells Garret hell be going down there and smashing the siege engine with the Dragon Disciple. He also slips a bead off of his necklace of fire balls and gives it to the halfling as a contingency plan. Wyaar activates his divine bond and suggests maybe they try to incapacitate their enemies instead of kill them it will buy more time.
More Half-Orcs approach the bridge and the ones that are already their adjust their positioning somewhat as the Ram moves forward 15 feet.
The gnomes and Half-Orcs continue to exchange missile fire at each other.
Meanwhile facing the boats Wyarr posits that unconscious enemies may stay down longer. Beri in air elemental form begins summoning a pair of water elementals in the water to deal with the boats directly. Bosk gets a quick headcount of ladders, hooks, and barbarians coming up them. There are 5 ladders, a dozen hooks, and half dozen barbarians climbing up them. It looks like they have spares in the boat. Tink hastes the party and as many Monks as she can.
The blade barrier shreds the ladders and hooks easily. The half dozen climbing barbarians scream in pain as theyre cut. The boat farther out, filled with archers, notice the horned cleric (he kind of stands out amongst the gnomes) and send a half dozen arrows his way. A few bounce off his armor but he takes no damage.
The boats then sail down the wall to a section not covered in blade barrier. The front boat is getting the spare ladders ready even as they pull up to the wall again. Go! one of the gnomes says. Well handle this group!

(Bead of Force, not fireball)
Zane casts Form of the Dragon 2, waits for Garret to get on (if he wants) and flies to the Siege engine, then dumps him off (free action) when they reach there.
All earth elementals are summoned 50' off the ground above the half-orcs and their ram, frozen in time until time stop ends.
Grease: Under the ram's wheels, right in front of the wall Wall of Force: blocking the area directly in front of the ram, but allowing smaller creatures to move on the sides of the bridge Summon Monster VI: Lillend Azata
Restlin spends the last round finding something comfortable to lean against. He quickly looks to his Azata and asks her to play Yakity Sax as his elementals fall and 780,000 pounds of living earth and stone come crashing down on the hordes with their rams and the bridge. The earth elementals ignore the half-orcs and pound the ram.
Meanwhile, the 7 elder air elementals spin up into whirlwinds and try scooping up all the half orcs. They can each move 100' in a single round, so they should be able to hit all of them and veer off the bridge. Each half-orc will take 20 slam damage, DC29 reflex for half. They must also make another DC29 reflex save or be scooped up in the whirlwind. Each whirlwind will end its turn over open water and drop its passengers as a free action.
***
Yea, this is a pain, but it's too fun not to do. At 40' each, the elementals should cover the entire bridge area in the map easy. At the least it would prevent the half-orcs from pushing anything anywhere, wall of force or not. Technically the earth elementals will get hit by the air elementals as well, but they're too heavy to get picked up.
Going strictly by the rules, they're huge and do 6d6 damage each when they fall on something. I rolled 17.
EDIT:
So, it's been brought to my attention that I can't actually summon earth elementals in mid-air. If that's the case, I make the following changes:
Wall of force BEHIND the current ram on the bridge. Earth elementals show up on our side and form a 4 deep, 3 wide column that advances until they hit the ram, then pound it. Air elementals are unchanged.

Boat side
Bosk tries to judge the size of the wall. Its about a half-mile across (over two thousand feet) and the boat can move about 360 feet per round (180 movespeed, it can double move). Aditionally the fortress is pretty much square, so even if they chased the boat to the end of the wall it can just round the corner. The batter was taking place near the middle, so theres about 800 feet before the boat runs out of room and turns a corner.
Tink calls some summoned creatures and the liland azata extends bosks wall as best it can. It is only CL 13, so it can cast its blade barrier 230 feet away. With a 260 foot wall she extends the total barrier from 320 feet to 490 feet long. Long enough to impede the barbarians, not long enough that they cant just sail past the barrier again. The boat is looking pretty roughed up.
Beri orders his elemental to chase. At a dead run the elemental just manages to catch the boat (90 movespeed, 4x on a run, just enough).
Wyarr hangs back.
Bosk tries to cast blade barrier to extend his wall, but at this point the boat is beyond even the extreme range of the spell (cast range is 100+10 per level - you need CL 26 to cast in front of the boat again and caster level 39 to cast at the end of the Azatas wall). Even if he did double the length of his original wall it wouldnt be far enough the barbarians couldnt just sail past it again.
The barbarians, foiled again by the barrier of blades, continues to sail away from the party. At this point theyve reached 720 feet away and the party probably needs to catch up before they can do much to stop them. (I wont bother to track barb health since everyone is probably leaving this section of wall. The monks can easily clean up.)

Restlin continues leaning, whistling along with his lillend summons. He calls out in auran for two of his air elementals to clear the line of half-orcs that have approached his wall, then decides that wall of force is getting in the way more than it's helping. He dismisses it as a standard action.
The earth elementals plod onwards, attacking the ram.

Two air elementals sweep over that new line of half-orcs on the bridge. First elemental does 24 slam damage, reflex DC 29 for half. They must make another DC29 reflex saved or be swooped up in the whirlwind. The elemental then drops them in the water as a free action. If any remain, the second elemental will swoop over them, doing 20 slam damage w/ the same saves.
The rest of the air elementals swoosh over the half-orcs swimming for shore. They'll try to pick them up and drag them back away from the shore before dropping them again. Figure the two southern most elementals on either side swoosh the bridge, the rest swoosh the water. Slam damages for the other 5 as follows:

Tink goes along with Bosk's teleportation. Once at their destination she uses her staff to start another summoning spell.
The Astral Deva is already halfway along the wall, and with it's fly speed can run at 400ft in a straight line. Starting at 160ft, it ends up at 560ft - still 160ft short of the ships.
The Ghaele Azata may not be able to fly in this form, but it has something better: greater teleport at will. It teleports 360ft past the ships.

Bridge Restlin dismisses his wall of force while his air elementals divebomb the half-orcs on the bridge again. After the first one swings through all but 2 half orcs are cleared from the bridge. The second one knocks the other 2 off. While others still harass the half orcs in the water. The air elementals manage to set many of the half orcs far back. The 4 front most earth elementals slam into the ram, but after their attack the ram is still standing. Zane continues to hovering keeping watch talking with Garret. Garret agrees that there is no place for them on the bridge so the 2 keep lookout for the boats. Sesha has her witchfire makes her invisible as she watches the bridge.
The ram slams into the nearest elemental. (33 vs AC; 44 damage after DR) The 3 half orcs on either side of the ram also continue to attack the front most elementals. All miss save for 1. (23 vs AC; 12 after DR)
Beri informs the other team they might be heading their direction. Bosk wonders if they can chase the boats all the way to the bridge. The fortress is generally square so theyd have to chase it about a mile around two corners (quarter mile to corner, half a mile down side of fortress, quarter mile to bridge). He then uses magic to help everyone close in on the boats. Tink summons more help.
The party has caught up with the ship again. A few barbarians have already scaled the wall, but are caught in a fight with the monks who were guarding this section. Theyre still in the same formation; one boat right up against the wall, the second one further back providing ranged assistance with archers.
(Im throwing out the map, it isnt particularly useful for the running battle this has turned into) Everyones currently at the same position as the boats, except for Tinks summons who are 160 feet behind and 360 feet ahead of the boat.

Restlin's earth elementals pound the ram into splinters (there's zero chance the 8 attacks from the elementals don't cross the 200HP mark). His air elementals keep up the same routine as last time and swoop the new line of half-orcs off the bridge.
Air elemental 1: 24 slam damage Air elemental 2: 22 slam damage
All attacks get reflex DC 29 for half, and another DC 29 reflex or they get swooped up and dropped.

The Astral Deva flies 100ft closer (to be only 60ft away from the 2nd boat) and casts Holy Smite on the deck. The Azata places an invisible barrier in the way of the ships.
Tink then tries to slow down ship #1 by taking out its mast.

Ghaele Azata Standard: Cast Wall of Force 300ft ahead of the ships. 130ft long sticking out perpendicular to the wall, 5ft off the top of the water. Invisible. Hardness 30. HP 260

The Air Elementals sweep all but one of the half-orcs on the bridge. The others keep harrasing the ones in the water and the earth elementals wreck the ram. Restlin writes a message in the sky trying to discourage the assault. Zane asks Garret if they want to go to the other side Garret agrees Wyaar is looking for targets.
Tink sends in her summons, puts up a barrier, and disintegrates the mast. The sail falls to the deck, sending barbarian sailors scrambling.
Wyarr isnt sure what to do.
Between the lost mass, the blade barrier damage, and the pounding the water elemental is doing the first ship starts to founder. It isnt destroyed, but its in pretty bad shape; those in it are mostly focused on bailing water and it will probably sink with another good hit.
The second boat has all hands on deck rush to the side and fire a stream of arrows at the elemental in the water. With about 20 barbarians firing they manage to bring it down.

Bosk grins under water. You know we too well. Beri, have your elementals come to me. I will teleport them over and then they should still be able to attack while the enemy is off guard (this round).
I will wait until you all arrive before I make the jump. When you get there, tell me where the ships are relative to the original ship that was against the wall so I know where to safely land that will provide the greatest tactical advantage.
ooc Assuming it is deep enough, I will position us under the closest ship.

One of Restlins elementals falls and another moves up to take its place. Between all the attacks the 3rd Ram is destroyed. The 2 air elementals manage to sweep the bridge clear of half-orcs this time while the others keep pressuring those in the water. Several more half-orcs in the water die. Zane continues to hover.
Sesha looks to join the boat party. There are no boats visible, since theres a fortress and walls between her and the boats, but she knows generally where they are and can fly in that direction (Its about 1000 feet away).

Wyarr is ready to be teleported.
Bosk is all ready to teleport precisely under one of the ships, but the vague description isnt anywhere close to accurate enough for that.
The party arrives to an already pitched battle on the walls. About 20 monks are fighting about 30 Barbarians; the enemy army has a camp on the far side of the moat and one of the ships is shutting troops back and forth while another maintains the ladders and the third provides covering fire.

Bosk AC:45/20/40 blink&invis, DR10/magic, electric/10, CMD: HP 255/221 Spells 15d6=53 ; Thursday August 15th, 2019 1:55:34 AM
Now that the ship is anchored Bosk once again casts blade barrier (using a level 7 pearl of power to recall it, if that isn't allowed he will use a hero point) and casts it is a radius the hits both boats.
Hit both boats for 53 damage.
DM Mitch Thursday August 15th, 2019 8:14:41 AM Restlin has his elementals do their bridge sweeping / harassing of the half-orcs in the water strategy that has been working so far. The first 2 manage to clear the bridge and the rest manage to kill some more of the half-orcs floating in the water. Garret wonders if the Half-Orcs are suicidal or learning.
8 more half-orcs step up to the bridge taking full damage from all the readied attacks and AOOs before focusing their attacks on elder elemental 3 and 4
Elder Elemental 3 (29 24 ; 23 vs AC; 10, 15, 14 dmg after DR) Elder Elemental 4 (35 ; 31 ; 33 ; 27 vs AC; 9, 8, 16, 17 after DR)
Wyarr shoots a few barbarians on the wall. A couple, already pretty damaged, fall unconscious. Zane misses a fly by attack. Sesha attempts to grapple but fails (CMD 31) Beri has his elementals tear apart the remaining boats. Bosk blade barriers the remains.
All of the boats are destroyed. The monks are holding against the barbarians on the wall; the rest float in the moat.

Restlin decides to not sweep the bridge. If these half-orcs were so desperate to fight to the last man, he'd help them along.
All the air elementals swoosh around the water harassing half-orcs
All air elementals can double-move as whirlwinds, giving them 200' of movement. Reflex save for half and to avoid being sucked up is still 29.
An earth elemental moves up to replace the destroyed one and makes a single attack, hitting AC 37 for 26 damage. The other three up front make full attacks.
#1: Hit AC 32 and 36 for 16 and 22 #2: Hit AC 43 and 48 (nat20, confirm 39) for 18 (36 if crit) and 28 #4: Hit AC 42 and 38 for 29 and 27
Restlin also decides that those half-orcs in the back are no longer safe. He finds the biggest clump of half-orcs he can see, then pulls out his maximize rod and sends a chain lightning spell down on them. The lightning does 108 damage to up to 19 targets. Reflex save DC 40 for half damage to the first target. DC is 38 for the rest.
"Garret, I'm not sure, but I think we're about to find out," is Restlin's reply to his friend's question.
Zane (JCC) AC 37(31), CMB 25, CMD 32, HP 311/311, Blindsense 60' Character Thursday August 15th, 2019 12:36:43 PM
Zane tosses any barbarian off the wall into the moat that may be left on it. He'll stay in Dragon form until the assault is declared over by the Monks.

Garret chews his sandwich and looks around in surprise when he realizes it is all gone. He stands up and surveys the battlefield like a mini general. He looks out across the battlefield to see if it looks like anything else is headed towards the castle.

Beri, still in whirlwind form, starts to pick up the barbarians and toss them into the water to clear the wall, while his elementals clean up any remaining water threats. Beri will also throw a lightning bold down on any target still standing on the wall.
Wyaar ( Sheet) AC 38/20/33, CMD 44 , HP 73/169, DR 5/Evil Thursday August 15th, 2019 10:36:02 PM
With the walls being cleared Wyaar calls out to keep at least one of the unconscious barbarians around so they can witness the orb being taken if the monks give it to them.
Bosk AC:45/20/40 blink&invis, DR10/magic, electric/10, CMD: HP 255/221 Spells Friday August 16th, 2019 2:40:35 AM
Bosk surfaces for some air before diving into the water to retrieve whatever he can from the bottom, including the anchor, warriors weapons, other worldly ale, etc. It might only be temporary, but the last time the Iron Adventurers used a feather token anchor it killed a demo god.
RobC - Katinka Hushfoot -- AC 38*/25*/28* (Blur, Add+2 vs Evil) -- CMD 29 -- HP 233/233 -- Spells -- Active Effects Friday August 16th, 2019 6:27:01 AM
The Astral Deva gets ready to smite again, but Tink is quick to interject "The monks might be neutral and be injured by it!"
Zane and Beri seem to have things very well in hand.
"Surrender now and you may be spared!" she calls out to the barbarians.
DM Mitch Friday August 16th, 2019 7:54:14 AM Garret realizes that his sandwich is gone so he starts looking around the battlefield for anything new coming towards the bridge. He sees just a seemingly ceaseless army of half-orcs approaching.
Restlin decides to change up tactics. He doesnt sweep the bridge and instead just sends his air elementals to harrass the fighters in the water while the earth elementals engage the half-orcs on the bridge. He also Hurls chain lightning at some of the advancing half-orcs.
Some of the Half-Orcs in the water die. None of the ones on the bridge do nor did any who were hit by lighting.
The 8 half-orcs on the bridge all make full attacks against the earth elementals they are facing focusing their fire on the lead 2 like usual. Both Elder Elementals are still standing after the attack though the 4th one looks much worse for the wear.
Zane throws a barbarian off the wall. Beri does the same, but as a whirlwind. Wyarr makes the point that they should take a prisoner so that they can prove the orb is gone. Bosk dives underwater to collect things. Tink call for surrender.
None of the barbarians listen to Tinks call; it seems when you just respawn theres little reason to surrender and be stuck in prison. There are still some on the wall, but now heavily outnumbered by the Monks and theyre getting taken down.
Zane (JCC) AC 37(31), CMB 25, CMD 32, HP 311/311, Blindsense 60' Character Friday August 16th, 2019 9:46:47 AM "Hey Restlin, can you nuke the Bridge? or shouldn't you?" Zane asks over the rings. On the otherside, he continues to toss Barbarians.....
Garret Goodbarrel [AC:51/51/40; (Blur) +4 vs AOO; HP: 243/260 Ki:19/21 CMD: 55 SR: 30 DR 10/Chaotic] Friday August 16th, 2019 10:40:30 AM
Garret looks down at the bridge when Zane mentions destroying the bridge. He says over the rings, "It is a nice bridge..."
"Where are all these things coming from, anyway?" He ponders Zane's question and inspects the bridge. Anything he can destroy to bring the thing down, or at least weaken it to the point where 700k+ lbs of earth elemental will bring it down?
Knowledge, Engineering: 29
Meanwhile, elementals keep doing what they're doing. The air ones swoosh around in the water, smacking and vacuuming:
Then, the front four earth elementals full attack the half-orcs in front:
#1: Nat 20(confirm 38) and 30 for 24 (40 if crit) and 22 damage #2: Hit AC 37 and 42 for 28 and 27 damage #3: Hit AC 46 and 44 for 25 and 22 damage #4: Hit AC 46 and 38 for 25 and 25 damage
He hopes there's a way to bring the bridge down, but if nothing else he can delay these guys a long time until his friends destroy all the boats/barbarians on the other side. At least their forces won't be split.
In the meantime, he swaps his maximize rod for a swift one and sends two fireballs out. His targets are the rams (two different ones) since fireballs catch stuff on fire, but he'll be happy to catch as many half-orcs in them as possible.
Both fireballs do 34 damage each. Reflex DC is 32.
Restlin's still invisible and hovering just off the ground. The poor Lillend Azata is still playing Yakity Sax.
Sesha - 102/202. AC 30 12d8=40 ; Friday August 16th, 2019 11:05:16 AM
Sesha is surprised at the wily barbarian. Instead, she gains altitude (5ft step back and up) and just breathes acid all of the ones on top of the wall, sparing the monks.
40 damage. Reflex 29 for half.
