Bigby attempts to sell a couple of items at the catacombs for the party. He will ask around if anyone knows of any WLA members or charters around. "need to pay me dues."
GM Ryan Maps and Artwork Race to Crystal Mountain Monday August 26th, 2019 2:23:39 PM Lil does some shipping before the head monks get back. Caelwyn hopes the monks arrive soon as he is anxious about the colonists they left behind. Grindar joins Lil for a little shopping. Sol enjoys the day and thinks of trade. Bigby begins to handle the lion share of the trading the party is to do and considers looking for a WLA member.
It seems to be a low key day now that the morning unpleasantness is completed. Little is going on and people go about their business. Blane has really taken to the pig and has discovered it actually knows a few tricks; sit, stay and even fetch seem to come naturally. At one point Blane jokingly says guard and the pig actually takes up a watch position. The lad is trilled and plays with him all day.
Towards dusk two of the monks that had been assigned to you come to releave the fellow who had been with you for some time. They both are smiling quite widely as they approach and for some reason head straight to Lil. “Brother Flitch and Brother Attius are just returned. They are clearly exhausted but wish to speak with you. I, well, I told them about the fights you had and they are impressed that you have defended the outpost. I have been told they need to clean up but can meet you in an hour at the Stone Temple.”
The monks are clearly happy about this turn of events.

Sol smiles, as he understands why the Monks are happy, and nods to Lil.
"I think we all agree we will be there. If you need any cleaning up I have just the spell prepared." ((Sol will use Prestidigitation on anyone who wants to be cleaned))
"This should be exciting, getting to meet the elders? Leaders? What is the correct term for them?"
GM Ryan Maps and Artwork Race to Crystal Mountain Tuesday August 27th, 2019 2:50:45 PM Lil quickly lets the others know that Attius and Flitch are back and want to talk at the Stone Temple. Also that the monks were really pumped up about it. Grindar too announces that they will be there and asks if his teammates are ready to head over. Sol offers to help the team freshen up before they head over. He also wonders what the proper titles are. Bigby wants to fly over as quickly as a Stone Temple pilot, whatever that is.
At Sol’s mention of helping to clean up the group one of the monk’s mumbles that that would be a good idea. He glances at Grindar and Bigby who seem to have blood on them from the day’s battles. Naturally he is too polite to mention that old blood gets a distinctive odder after some time.
Once situated and clean the party heads in the direction of the Stone Temple. A large structure clearly built with stone that is not from the local environment or at least not in its current state. The stone temple is constructed of simple grey-ish stones with some sandstone mixed in to highlight and contrast colors in places. At only one story tall but wide you can see that this images of druid trees are carved into the stone in various places. The druid trees appear to be looking towards the door. The doors, also built from materials not consistent with the environment, are hard wood with iron bandings. Carved into the door is an image of what appears to be a god but not one you would easily identify. Know Religion DC15 Highlight to display spoiler: {Most likely Mittiri, a god of nature who died in the Year of Ascension. }
The heavier of your monk escorts push open one of these great doors which clearly takes some effort, it could be weighted better.
The doors open onto a sort of great hall with several areas you can sit and a large table in one corner. You are pointed towards the table where two monks are sitting. Both are dirty and clearly exhausted, one rests his head in his hands while the other is kind of staring off into space, kind of up and to his right.
Neither looks up at the party and your escort has slipped back towards the doors waiting.

She follows the guy's gaze, seeing if he's lookin' at something (perception 18).
So...it's quiet in here. Should she say somethin'? Yea, probably. They invited them, after all. She clears her throat.
"You two look like you've seen some stuff since you left." She walks to the table and takes a seat, leaning back with her legs crossed. "Good to see you're in one piece, though. What's up?"

Bigby looks at the blood on his fur at the mention of it and begins to lick but then looks at sol cleaning up Grindar and then stops. "ok, get me too sol." After being clean and presentable he joins with the rest.
GM Ryan Maps and Artwork Race to Crystal Mountain Wednesday August 28th, 2019 3:06:15 PM Bigby learns a better way to keep clean. Lil wonders if the doors are druid wood but they do not appear to be. When she sees the men she takes the direct approach. "You two look like you've seen some stuff since you left. Good to see you're in one piece, though. What's up?" Grindar, now clean, follows Lil to the table and asks if it is ok to sit with them. Caelwyn is a little concerned by Lil’s blunt mannerisms and takes a more diplomatic approach.
The monk who had been staring into space simply continues to look off at nothing you can see. At Lil’s words the monk who has his head in his hands gives a small chuckle and slowly looks up. He looks at the party pausing first at Lil and then for much longer at Bigby. After a moment of looking at Bigby he blinks and shrugs before speaking to the group.
"Ahhh.. um, you’re the group, er, people that um…. well you killed some things that needed killing in the encampment? You, um… outsiders. Er, well, you’re a diverse group to sure….” he kind of trails off for a second but picks back up just half a second after it became ackward "Im um…. Attius and, um, this fine fellow is Flitch.” he nods and looks to Flitch who blinks and turns to look at you all finally.
Flitch licks his lips and clears his throat before speaking in a low horse whisper. "Welcome, pardon my voice and appearance we were on the front lines so to speak and were pretty worn down. "Still we must sing our guilt."”
Looking at the monks you can see that they are both dusty from the road. Attius is a tall thin to the point of being gaunt man with a bald head. The lines on his face are deep but he is probably younger then you would think, just a lot of time in the sun. Flitch is heavier and has some red hair surrounding a bald spot on top. Both are clearly exhausted.
Attius picks back up. "Yes, um.. we were singing for several days and, un, its taxing and clearly dirty.” he gives a small nervous laugh at the end. "What is it that brings you outsider, er, travels… yes travelers here.”

You know, folks to trade with, folks what know stuff we need to survive, maybe some Druidwood so we can get about the Sargrass a little easier." She stretches. These monks ain't the only ones who're tired.

GM Ryan Maps and Artwork Race to Crystal Mountain Thursday August 29th, 2019 2:16:18 PM Lil notices that Attius spent some time staring at Bigby but chalks it up to his seeing something completely new in their companion. She pushes forward. "Well, we're working with folks to rebuild Rattledam. We came to find folks to help with that. You know, folks to trade with, folks what know stuff we need to survive, maybe some Druidwood so we can get about the Sargrass a little easier." Bibby looks back at the monk and winks. Caelwyn is please with what Lil says and holds his tongue feeling a little bad for the bedraggled monks. Sol also lets Lil be the face though he is willing to clean up the monks if they want. Grindar adds nothing thinking things are under control.
Attius starts to speak but before he gets much stammered out Flitch interrupts him, not in an unfriendly. “Rebuild Rattledam… well it makes since that more outisders would keep coming. Almost beat us back to the Saragrass really. Well let me consider.”
He pauses for barely a moment and Attius jumps right back in having gotten his thoughts a bit. “Now Flitch we, er, we don’t know anything was the fault of the outsiders it, well um, could have been us as well. These here did some good and what, er, what is that we say?”
Flitch frowns at Attius and responds with a very flat horse voice. “We sing our guilt.”
“What? er well yes ummmm but not what I was.” Attius shakes his head “Trust must be earned, right? Well, er, they earned some, um trust I think.”
There is a bit more discussion of what is going on before Attius finally ends it with his first clearly stated sentences. “Flitch, sit back down. I’m going to show them the things in the museum, you know the skiff.” Sadly the forceful comments end there. “Err, that is if, well, if you want to see. It, um, I think it will, um, help.”
For his part Flitch sits back down after asking Sol if he is a wizard and know the simple spell to clean. He waves one of the younger monks at the door over and askes to be brought his ledger while Attius does his thing.

He smiles brightly at Flitch's question.
"Yes I am, or at least a beginning one... I do know the spell you speak of, Prestidigitation and have it prepared, would you like me to cast it on you?"
GM Ryan Maps and Artwork Race to Crystal Mountain Friday August 30th, 2019 10:47:19 AM Lil considers the relationship between the monks leadership but tells them any help is welcome. Bigby considers the term ‘singing our guilt’ and is interested in seeing the skiff. Grinder likes the idea of a museum and the skiff sounds the most amazing. Caelwyn nods and wants to see what they have to offer. Sol admits to being a beginning wizard and offers o clean the monks which they both accept.
Both Attius and Flitch perk up after having the grime magicked away. Neither looks like they are up for a long hike but being clean always helps. Flitch even thanks Sol before turning to the ledgers that have been brought forth.
Attius motions for the group to follow though a set of double doors on the side of the room. He pulls a key ring from around his neck and release three different lock to get the doors open. As they swing open you can see that the long but skinny room, forty feet by 15 feet, is lit with Everburning Toches and contains several displays.
“This is, um, this is really the last of the artifacts we have from the second age. The skiff, well we will.. um… get tot that. The artifacts have history to them and are of, um, great value…. Well at least to us they, aaah, are of great value.”
A large tapestry is hung across from where you enter, it depicts a beautiful druid tree with a strange looking stag next to it. Below the tapestry on a small plinth is a syckle, it looks quite old but of good quality. Attius points to it and smiles he does not stutter or stammer as he speaks of the syckle.
“At one time this syckle was enchanted. It had a property that would bend the Sargrass away from you as you walked though it making travel for the bearer easy. When, to our great shame, the Saragrass left so did its power but the power did not return with the grass.” this was a prepared speech clearly “So, um, not as much use now. Still its, um, our, ahhh history. “
He continues on and passes several more tapestries depicting druid trees as well as the figure that was carved into the outer door. In front of each tapestry is an item on a plinth but he does not stop to describe each one in turn. You pass; large stone ball, a coiled piece of chain, a child’s doll that may be made of Sargrass, two pieces of crystal that are cracked, a broken sword and, an ancient closed book.
At the end of the hall sits a very old skiff. The metal has a layer of rust and the druidwood is clearly aged, like the boards on a barn after many years. The skiff is roughly fifteen feet long, filling the hall completely, and six feet wide. It would appear to seat three but there is no obvious means of propulsion nor is there a ready location to attach a harness.
Attius points “So, um, not many see this really. It, well, it’s the skiff we talked, er, mentioned. A skiff like this will float on the sargrass, quite the, um, marvel really.”

He then adds, "Do you have any idea how we can build and/or obtain one for ourselves?"

"I agree with Grindar I do not believe this boat would be large enough to safely support all of us. "You are correct," says Attius, "It requires druid wood to build such a craft, and druid wood requires a druid tree. We have heard of no old groves returning with the Sargrass, and groves in the process of being established would not take kindly to having their trees harmed."
Flitch adds, "The entire skiff is not made of druid wood. Look here." He points to the features of the skiff he is discussing. "There is a druid wood frame, but the hull of the skiff if woven from grass. Think about how much good a few skiffs could do us, nevermind an actual ship!"
Attius hisses at Flitch, "The nearest druid is weeks south of us. It's far too dangerous a journey," before turning his attention back to the group, "We were hoping you could go with the next expedition to Hook City to get more recruits. Having a ship would be great, but really I think it's more practical to build our population right now."
Flitch snorts softly, but Attius either doesn't hear or ignores it. Flitch promptly pursues another thought. "The syckle also required druid wood."
"Oh, yes!" growls Attius. "And without a properly tuned crystal, it takes as much effort to move the syckle as it would take to bend all that grass by hand! We don't have the luxury of resources to spend on your daydreams of how things could be. We have to live in the hear and now."

Sol focuses on finding druid wood. "That does seem like a distance to go, but it may be worth it if druid wood is as miraculous as it appears to be."
. Flitch is happy to argue in favor of finding druid wood, and tells Attius there's no good to come of sending people with a recruiting expedition who don't want to recruit. Attius, of course, disagrees, "They are better suited to protect an expedition than most people here."
"As for tuning a crystal," Flitch says, ignoring Attius, "with the proper songs, the most skilled among us are able to make useful items from the crystals. That's one reason why some of us are eager to find more of the ancient songs. Many of the songs were lost during the long wait, you know. We write new ones, but those are to save our history. They aren't the ones that the crystal singers use. The ancient songs are probably what we need the most."
"Bah. Food and stone are more important, and you know it. We'll find the songs once we have a population that can support expeditions to do so," Attius counters. "Although I would love to hear the songs of our ancestors."
As if that admission on Attius' part were a sign of weakness, Flitch pounces, "Well, since they're going to look for druid wood anyway, I expect we should help -- to give them the best chance of success. And to share in that success."
