Bliss could use a boost. He has been downing giants left and right with nonlethal damage. He searches now for one that is unconscious.
Mookie attacks this giant to bring him or her into the negatives. Then Bliss uses the Death half of his witchy Life and Death power to cast Death Knell as an SLA. That's a will save DC16 to gain 1d8 temporary hit points per target hit die, for 10 minutes per target hit die.

---Outside the Giant---
Talia observes the battlefield. Giants are still coming, but their group is still some ways away. Pressi continues flying through the catapult entrance. She asks Madam Gem for the situation and gives some demands.
"Pilot Pressi, please be aware I do not have full sensory detail at this time. Doors are opening, with proper clearance, on multiple levels, notably the heel entrance, the mid-heart engines, and the pilots room.
Please be advised that if another completes the piloting link, I cannot disobey their commands. Further, I believe pilot Succotash has just fallen unconscious.
Tiana has not reported any current aggressors."
Bliss and Mookie try to drink a foe dry, but the stubborn giant passes his will save and the effect is negated.
**Reinforcements will arrive in 2 rounds-**
The door to the iron giant remains open, and an eerie darkness seeps from its entrance.
-----Inside of the Giant-----
Succotash unleashes holy fury on his enemy, slashing the she-dwarf over and over. She screams with each cut, but the wispy flames harm Succotash greatly with each strike. The flaming aura deals 70 damage back to Succotash!.
As he loses consciousness, his query is answered. "Three minutes until full integration. Reminder, I can fuse to the tower instantly, but I will be lost in the process, and the giant will no longer function."
Hobie: descends down a level. He arrives just in time to see two creatures, both hideous center torsos covered in eye stalks, float up to his level. He sends his arrow towards them, and each are burned by the flaming attack.
Kezzem and his Companion: Each do considerable damage to the invisible stalkers.
--------Enemy Actions---------------
Ketia: With Succotash downed, she takes a step back and casts a healing spell on herself. (Spellcraft DC 21: Heal) The damage inflicted by the paladin vanishes to nothing. She sneers.
"Next?"
She yells at the stalkers.
"Get this one out of my way!"
StalkersThis time the stalkers adjust to come after Kezzem, but only one attack finds hold. It hits Kezzem on AC 31 for 10 damage.
Beholders: The gurgling creatures eyestalks quiver, and beams of light streak at Hobie. One flies wide, and one narrowly misses.
???: Hobie hears the sounds of spellcasting from within his current room, but no enemies are revealed. Suddenly he finds himself within a strange mist. Hobie must make a will save DC 22 or take a -10 penalty to will saves and wisdom checks.
--------COMBAT SANITY--------------

For a moment, silence as she views the Beholder and Hobie through the arrow slits nearby (and maybe the invisible attacker if he's on her side of the giant). Followed by a scream for Hobie to run to the arrow slits.
(Ill Omen (2 roll twices)+Baleful Polymorph+Focused Curse, DC 23 on the nearby beholder, make it a squirrel, hero point spent.)
"Madam Gem," she speaks into the microphone shortly. "Initiate self destruct sequence, time one minute. And patch me through to whoever's leading this. Tell her that unless those are her giants out there, this can wait until tomorrow."

Talia observes the battlefield even longer.
Pressi stops at the outside of the arrow slits. Her DM will concede the thought that perhaps the arrow slits cover multiple levels, even though he specifically pointed out Hobie was a level down. She casts two spells, Ill Omen and Baleful polymorph on the closest beholder.
It gurgles something in a language (celestial), before turning into a surprised squirrel, retaining no memories of its past.
Bliss and Mookie remain outside. Bliss resumes his natural form.
**Reinforcements will arrive in 1 rounds-**
The door at the heel, ground level, to the iron giant remains open, and an eerie darkness seeps from its entrance.
-----Inside of the Giant-----
Hobie: fails his will save against the strange mist. With one enemy defeated by Pressi, he followers her orders, and falls back near the slits before attacking the other. After a single arrow, the beholder grumbles and falls. Right before it disappears, he is positive it takes the shape of a much smaller, much more harmless lantern archon.
Kezzem and Rumpus keep attacking enemy 3. Rumpus hurts it, but doesn't kill it. Kezzems daggers hurt #2, and finally send the third back to whatever elemental plane it came from.
Succotash lays on the floor unconscious. He fails his stabilization roll and is dying at -5hp. Piggy tries valiantly to avenge her master. She gores the final elemental, and yanks its fluffy bits out of its insides. It too, vanishes into the air.
--------Enemy Actions---------------
Ketia: with her Stalkers destroyed, Ketia backs up to get some space. Rumpus gets to swat at her as she moves (hits ac 11+12=23), but he only hits armor.
"Thanks for grouping up!", she shouts, as she conjures a red glowing orb. It streaks out from her outstretched hand and detonated in the middle of the pack of paladins and animals. Kezzem, Succotash, Rumpus, and Piggy take 39 fire damage, reflex save DC 21 for half. (19 fire if passed.)
Succotash: Unconscious creatures are treated as having a dexterity of zero. Therefore, as an unconscious character, your reflex save will have a -5 modifier from from dex instead of what it usually is. Note, you still get divine grace. I'm aware it may be a moot point either way =(
Kezzem: Please remember to take your 10 damage from last round, in addition to any damage from this spell.
???: casts a spell again from somewhere in the corner of the room. Suddenly, Hobie finds himself alone in a room, face to face with the potion shop owner from his troubles past. The shopkeep staggers towards him, pale and gaunt, with a dagger jutting from his heart. He calmly pulls the dagger from his chest and he puts a hand on Hobies shoulder.
"Now its your turn, murderer."
From her vantage at the arrow slit, Pressi sees none of this, only Hobie standing still and staring into the distance.
Hobie: must make a WILL SAVE DC 23, at a -10 modifier from the mind fog. If he fails, he must make a FORTITUDE SAVE at DC 23. If he succeeds, he takes 11 damage. If he fails, he dies as his heart stops from panic and guilt.

Madam Gem replies to Pressi.
"It will take several moments to calculate the actions needed for destruction. Update, I no longer detect vital signs from Pilot Succotash. Update, Tiana is now engaged in combat with a heavily armored foe. Update. There are no replies from the invading party on any level."
There is halting silence, then more updates.
"Update. Calculation of self destruction complete. It is certain that at this proximity, destruction of the giant will destroy the tower you are attempting to save. Without a conscious pilot in the cockpit, I cannot move the giant. As I informed Pilot Succotash, it is possible for our consciousness to repair your tower immediately, at the cost of the giants permanent functionality and our continued self awareness. Pressi meets Talia at the catapult and drops Hobie down. "Really sorry about this, I'll dismiss in a second, but we can't simply fight our way out. We’re fighting two sides on three fronts over way too large a battlefield. If we try to secure the giant, the giants will destroy the tower or invade the home. If we focus on the giants, the dwarves will take the giant and end the energy transfer. And if we remain split, we’ll be overrun by sheer numbers. We've lost Murphy, our speedy wall builder. And as a reminder of how much I hate this Iron Giant, it won't let me set a password on the controls. I thought an attempt at self destruct would attract someone's attention and I'd get a call, but I guess not."
Pressi almost passes out from speaking so fast but she continues.
"We may have to do the transfer now, I think Tiana has the blue gem still, and we have other options to shut this thing down. But I think we need to stop using our swords and our spells and start using our brains and our mouths. And probably also our swords and our spells. Are you coming with me or am I to go alone? I will continue to use the [b][i]Message spell as its up for a bit..."says Talia to Pressi. Talia turns to Pressi, and with Pressi, and Hobie in range, casts Haste on the group of three. Then {burning another Hero Point} casts Invisibility on herself right before...entering the Iron Giant the way Pressi left, Talia uses Overland Flight to make her way through to the Pilot's Nest and to Lady Tiana. While making her way inside the Iron Giant, Talia points her finger towards where she believe the Empassing Mind is and asks by way of the Message spell, "Ms. Encompassing Mind, how do I help save you, without damage to you, the Iron Giant, the tower, & the other people in the Valley? Is there something we can do with your Gems and if so, how? I feel I am one of the last remaining hopes here as most of my group is down, hurting, and very very tired."
While here, hasted and invisible, Talia will make her way using her perception & Stealth skills {Preception = 21 | Stealth =19+20(Invis) =39 }. When she sees Lady Tianna, she will point to her and using the Message spell, "Lady Tianna, it is I, Talia. I am in this room with you, Hasted and Invisible. To help you, I will cast Black Tentacles near you on the ground in an effort to stay invisible."
If possible, as Talia makes her way to the pilots nest after recovering the blue gem (will use a hero point if possible), Talia will cast a Black Tentacle spell centered on the floor, 20 feet away from Talia while at the pilot enterence, near lady Tianna and directed and cast on that spot of the floor.

It can circumvent a barrier if there is an open path between you and the subject, and the path's entire length lies within the spell's range. The creatures that receive the message can whisper a reply that you hear. The spell transmits sound, not meaning; it doesn't transcend language barriers. To speak a message, you must mouth the words and whisper.
Haste | 12 rounds : 12 rounds left
Invisibility | 12 minutes : 12 minutes left
Of course, the subject is not magically silenced, and certain other conditions can render the recipient detectable (such as swimming in water or stepping in a puddle). If a check is required, a stationary invisible creature has a +40 bonus on its Stealth checks. This bonus is reduced to +20 if the creature is moving. The spell ends if the subject attacks any creature. For purposes of this spell, an attack includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe. Exactly who is a foe depends on the invisible character’s perceptions. Actions directed at unattended objects do not break the spell. Causing harm indirectly is not an attack. Thus, an invisible being can open doors, talk, eat, climb stairs, summon monsters and have them attack, cut the ropes holding a rope bridge while enemies are on the bridge, remotely trigger traps, open a portcullis to release attack dogs, and so forth. If the subject attacks directly, however, it immediately becomes visible along with all its gear. Spells such as bless that specifically affect allies but not foes are not attacks for this purpose, even when they include foes in their area.

Bliss casts a Cure Critical Wounds on himself. He heals 36 hp.
Bliss makes a heroic effort to do more! He activates his cloak of the spider to cast Web between both legs of the Iron Giant and the Tower behind it and the wall of thorns along the base. Then he climbs in and up into the webs, deep enough that he remains unseen. (total cover, no hide check needed, bonuses to AC and reflex saves.)
Mookie perches on the side of the Iron Giant, 20 ft up, just above the edge of the Web, With a five ft step, Bliss could be next to Mookie. Mookie keeps an eye on the enemy and reports their move to Bliss.
Incidentally, the webbing covers the heels of the Iron Giant and the opening to get into it. If someone moves in the Web, Bliss may notice. Perception 33.

{OOC: Not knowing how much Talia would have been able to accomplish yesterday, I repeated this but modified based on your emails}
Lady Talia meets with Pressi on the Iron Giant Shoulder near the Catapult and discusses what must be done at this point. "Who's at the Pilot Helm? Where is Tiana? Are you coming with me or am I to go alone? I will continue to use the [i]Message spell as its up for a bit..."says Talia to Pressi. Is there something we can do with your Gems; I have the blue Gem with me; and if so, how? I feel I am one of the last remaining hopes here as most of my group is down, hurting, and very very tired."
While here, hasted and invisible, Talia will make her way using her perception & Stealth skills {Preception = 21 | Stealth =19+20(Invis) =39 }. When she sees Lady Tianna, she will point to her and using the Message spell, "Lady Tianna, it is I, Talia. I am in this room with you, Hasted and Invisible. I have the Blue Gem. I will also have to make it up to the Pilots Nest and persuade the new pilot of this new outcome. To help you, I will cast Black Tentacles near you on the ground in an effort to stay invisible & help at the same time!"
If possible, as Talia makes her way to the pilots nest ( & will use a hero point if possible), Talia will then cast a Black Tentacle spell centered on the floor, 20 feet away from herself & near lady Tianna casting directly on that spot {20 feet away from herself but close to Tiana} on the floor.
[b]Iron Giant Pilot's Nest
Making her way, by flight, up to the Pilot's Nest, Talia making another Perception & Stealth check {Perception = 14 |Stealth = 25 + 20(invis) = 45} will try to decern if there is a way to reach the Pilot directly. Pointing to Ms. Emcompassing Mind, "Is there a pilot & if so, how do I disengage the Pilot without killing them?"

Pressi leaves it up to Hobie, reminding him and Talia that using rounds could still buy the group time before the soul transfer, but also that Hobie could back up Talia (and Tiana) if they get in trouble.
She also clarifies that they are soul transferring, not blue gemming (which makes it more powerful but evil). No, not even if the latter would be more fun.
"But if you do come with me, I need you to promise me one thing. Talia, you too. See, even if I could turn invisible... well, someone needs to save our paladins and someone needs to slow down these casters and I don't know what's going to happen down there, but...
"I don't think I can follow the two of you to Tiana, and I think she needs the two of you down there. So no matter what happens to be down there, I want you both to run. Get to Tiana as fast as you can. Get this done before we lose the iron giant or the tower. Just... run. I need that promise or we stay put."
Pressi gives a smile that barely hides her worry. "Sorry about being maudlin. You know me. I'll be fine."

--Player Actions---
Talia and Pressi confer for a moment, and the decision is made that Hobie and Talia are heading down to the core to help Tiana, who had reported herself under attack. The make some progress downwards, through the first two hatches no problem.
Outside the entrance to the heart however, they find themselves facing an issue. Three large walls appear to be in place, prohibiting entry to the core. A wall of iron, a wall of ice, and a wall of stone. From behind the walls and the door, they can hear someone taunting Tiana.
"You can't hide forever, wizard. I'll find you soon enough."
There doesn't appear to be a way around the walls, even though there's a myriad of chains and sub-stations all around them. Talia and Hobie, what do you do?
Pressi does some things! They are great things, her DM will retocon this post when he figures it out. Either way, he is pretty certain she will wind up going into the corridor with the dwarf. With her true seeing, she spots a drow woman that the Paladins had not mentioned, hovering there slinging spells.
Bliss and Mookie do some healing, and block whatever was in the heel, from getting out.
**Reinforcements are now on the map.**
The door at the heel, ground level, to the iron giant remains open, and an eerie darkness seeps from its entrance, through the cracks of the spider webs.
------------------------------
Kezzem attacks the known foe, taunting her with his amazing saves. He recalls piggy not getting hurt by recoiling flames, and his DM will warn him this was a DM error and the aura is still in place. He can choose to do his damage and take the flare back, or take a different standard action free of consequence.
If he chooses to do his damage, he takes 31 fire damage in response.
The Animals are roaming the cabin. Piggy had room to attack the first time, but the dwarfs reposition has left her one vs one with Kezzem.
--------Enemy Actions---------------
Invisible Drow:
Ketia: points her weapon at Kezzem. "No halfling, we are not evil. We serve Scald, regardless of labels and the like. He has asked us to retrieve this giant, and that's what we shall do. I imagine the best thing for you and your lot is to let us have it and we will leave, so you can mind the defense of your hovel!"
She growls.
"If you beg, we might even help you. Consider your pride, Paladin. Too much of it is a sin."
She adjusts, forced further from the cockpit, and casts a spell. A searing streak of light hits Kezzems touch ac with a 24, burning him for 25 points of damage.
From near the ladderwell, another burst of energy, this one dark and corrosive, also barrels into Kezzem. He takes 2 negative levels.
--------COMBAT SANITY--------------
DM Note for our Paladins: None of the combatants in this room are of evil alignment. DM Note: Invisible enemies are currently visible! DM Note: In battle, it is a perception check DC 25 to pinpoint an enemy inside of the head. Scent works as listed, ie a move action to pinpoint an enemy within the head. DM Note: Enemies with Darkvision can still operate in magical Darkness. Please let me know if you mount or companion has it.
DM Note on NEGATIVE LEVELSFor each negative level a creature has, it takes a cumulative –1 penalty on all ability checks, attack rolls, combat maneuver checks, Combat Maneuver Defense, saving throws, and skill checks. In addition, the creature reduces its current and total hit points by 5 for each negative level it possesses. The creature is also treated as one level lower for the purpose of level-dependent variables (such as spellcasting) for each negative level possessed. Spellcasters do not lose any prepared spells or slots as a result of negative levels. If a creature’s negative levels equal or exceed its total Hit Dice, it dies.

True Seeing | 13 minutes :: 13 minutes remaining
You confer on the subject the ability to see all things as they actually are. The subject sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magic, sees the exact locations of creatures or objects under blur or displacement effects, sees invisible creatures or objects normally, sees through illusions, and sees the true form of polymorphed, changed, or transmuted things. Further, the subject can focus its vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into extra-dimensional spaces). The range of true seeing conferred is 120 feet.
True seeing, however, does not penetrate solid objects. It in no way confers X-ray vision or its equivalent. It does not negate concealment, including that caused by fog and the like. True seeing does not help the viewer see through mundane disguises, spot creatures who are simply hiding, or notice secret doors hidden by mundane means. In addition, the spell effects cannot be further enhanced with known magic, so one cannot use true seeing through a crystal ball or in conjunction with clairaudience/clairvoyance.

Pressi briefly considered seeing if she could talk these people down, but then she heard the "maybe if you beg" stuff, and that Succotash was dead.
"Not much I can do about her alignment," she called from the shadows. "The haircut of that drow female alone should be crime enough. Oh, and also... I can seeee youuu."
Pressi stepped out and fired a grease spell from her wand, straight at the drow's face and body.
"But I do urge you to stay your wrath," she responds to Kezzem. "Why, can't you hear the great dwarven songs of their honor and sense of justice towards others. You can't because they will die and their lives never mattered. I don't know your relationship to Shan but I wish I could speak to her now. Oh well...."

Bliss lurks in his web, and his patience is rewarded. After a few siege rounds from above, thanks to Candy, a few giants lurk out of the flying dust and mud. The pair pass right in front of him, triggering an AoO.
Talia and Hobie are trying to figure out how to bypass three walls. They can see them, as they are not all perfectly flush with each other. When Hobie casts detect magic, he does notice something unusual, the wall of iron glows as magical. As a transmutation wizard, he is very much aware of the fact that the Wall of Iron spell creates one very regular, non magical iron wall.
Talia blinks through the walls, and suddenly she is aware of WHY she's not been answered by Tiana. There is no trace of the mage in the space, and standing there is a very angry looking half orc. He is clad in heavy armor, holding a bastard sword. He is currently unaware of Talia. He swings his sword at seemingly nothing, but calls out in laughter as he is rewarded with a resounding crunch.
Talia also is aware that when looking at the iron wall, she sees nothing at all but a faint outline, thanks to her trueseeing.
The walls are in the order of Iron, then Ice, then Stone.
TALIA AND HOBIE: Perception, DC 20.
Pressi sees the hiding drow, and lets her know as much. She lectures Kezzem just a moment, then casts a grease spell on Ketia, who saves against it without much trouble. She casts it on the drow, who also seems to not be much affected. (Charged 1 hero point.)
Kezzem threw some daggers, then goes and throws some more. Most of them bounce off her armor.

"Funny you should mention Shan. The dead halfling here is the one who plunged a knife into her breast before the parley had finished."
She gestures wildly, from what bits and pieces you can see through the barrier, she is furious.
"Murder? We are lawfully reclaiming an item of our own belonging, and locked in combat with the same halflings who stole it the first time. He could be a server of flower, and it wouldn't change the fact it was mutual combat on a battlefield. Not murder."

If Kezzem can tell where she is (by grease) and she is not in melee range, he also burns a Hero Point, smite evil (swift action if he detects evil), and full range attack. His attacks would then be as follows:
If he cannot tell where the drow is, he will instead cast lay on hands on himself. Healing 5d6: 3 + 5 + 3 + 4 + 2 = 17.
Rumpus will use scent to pinpoint the drow (move action). If in melee range, he will make an attack (standard action).

Bliss makes his way in through the heel of the map. If he does not have darkvision, he cannot see anything. He is certain the darkness is magical in nature. If he does, he is in a room that is roughly shaped like a foot, 40 feet from end to end, and has a ladder-well leading up. Many chains dangle down from other parts of the leg structures. (No map here. If you want a positioning, it will be fine.) -----------------------------------------
Talia's see invisible allows her to quickly locate Tiana. She cannot dimension door out, because creatures cannot teleport through the giants outer shell. If she wants to help Tiana, she can dimension door her to the other side of the walls which she blinked through, or take some aggressive action against the armored orc.
The room itself is oval shaped, with thick metal walls and one door in or out. There are a couple of tables full of engineering equipment, and a large furnace "heart", that serves as a power unit for the Iron Giant.
Talia is also aware from her true seeing spell, as her DM posted last round, the wall of Iron was an illusion. I will assume she shares that information as well.
If she dim doors out of the room to the outside chamber, she finds Hobie under attack by a creature covered in chains.
---------------------------------------
Hobie spots something moving among the chains right as it attacks. As such, he is not flat footed. The creature is humanoid, wearing a strange mask and armor made also, of chains. At its gesture, 4 chains lash out at him! The creature is 20 feet from him, and 20 feet up. ------------------------------------------------
Kezzem does not have melee range to the invaders, and the blade barrier offers cover from his attacks. He takes a -4 on all attacks through the Blade Barrier.
Detect Evil does register in the direction of the cockpit, but without direct line of sight he can only determine the general direction. Unfortunately, the grease spell did not outline the enemies.
He moves to throw some daggers, but is stopped by Pressi. (If he wants to attack regardless, just post as much and I'll retcon the damage.)
Pressi engages the female cleric, who resists her divination spell.
--------Enemy Actions---------------
Ketia responds to Pressi. She stands her ground on the defensive, and seems to have readied herself to cast a spell, but doesn't do anything for the moment.
"There's always more to it. When two sides disagree, fundamentally, the circling and mental positioning never ends."
She sighs.
"All right, here's the basis of everything for us. I am here to reclaim the giant. It was never Shans to give. Your defense of this town, your lives, and anything else is secondary. That is my one, immutable condition."
She looks to the cockpit, outside.
"Even the giant can't defend this town indefinitely. The giants will over-run you."
Invisible Drow hisses at Ketia.
"This isn't in our mission description, dwarf. What are you doing?"
She too, prepares to cast a spell and holds it, grinning at Pressi through the whirling barrier of swords and blades.
The Orc will continue his pursuit of Tiana. If Talia evacuates her, he is none the wiser for now.
The Chain Creature (Know planes, DC 15 to identify as a Kyton), sends 4 chains out at Hobie.

Pressi tries her best to hide that she isn't staring at both of them aiming spells at her. Reaching into her pocket, slowly as they watch her, she pulls out a nondescript fan and flips it open.
"I think before we all kill each other and let the giants attack what's left, we need to explore... other options. Wouldn't you agree Ketia? I mean, not giving diplomacy a decent chance was the reason our paladin's death was justified. That is your belief, right?"
On Kezzem's side, lines begin to form and shift. (Bluff 22 (dang) to send secret message.)
Kezzem sense motive DC 15 Highlight to display spoiler: {"Tiana's transfer" She briefly points to the door into the heart, then towards where Talia is about to dimension door. (Kezzem should realize she's talking about the madam gem soul transfer discussed earlier.)} "At the very least, we can take care of some injured that need assistance, and perhaps further delay the invaders."
Continuing to fan herself, she continues. "Simply relying on the giant is, indeed, insufficient. And I'm not going to give a group that's already attacked us and thinks we're evil MORE information about our defenses, any more than you'd give to me. I'm probably risking a lot to say we really only need the giant for today, and clearly not for the way you expect. So if you could come back tomorrow to kill us, that would be great.
"And what of you? You seem to believe that after you let us be slaughtered, we're just going to let it go and forget about you. You seem to think the giant army out there will just let you walk out with a machine they desire and not a thought of revenge or an ability to follow the big footprints. I know you're fighting at least one other massive foe to begin with. And yet, you seem to think the giant will defend your OWN town indefinitely... against a foe or two that already took the giant once.
"You say that the lives of ourselves and our children are secondary to holding the giant. Your own lives and the lives of our town... they are not secondary to holding the giant for us, and you'd learn that if you didn't just punch through without a single thought. You scream that Succotash was too quick to attack. What makes you better in that regard? You come here, ready to let kids die time and time again, your own kids and ours, caring not for anything but your own comfort, for a weapon you can hold and whisper to yourself it can do good? That you need nothing beyond your precious steel and fire? THIS is your idea of a good society?"
Pressi pauses to catch her breath. "We are fighting for our very lives. But we are also ready to help those in need. Even you, if you're willing to put your OWN sense of honor aside. But first you have to decide why you actually came here for this machine. If it's only because of some god or some sense of property, then you have to decide if that's enough."

No offer to even kick a couple of giants on the way out or to light a candle? Not even a sarcastic 'sorry for the inconvenience'? Hey, here's my counter offer..."
Pressi does not disclose her initial counter offer. She prefers to take some deep breaths.
"You can't tell me that you don't care about others, not even a little. You've seen what we are up against. Come on, one of you must have a heart, or a memory of when someone left you hanging. Just leave, let us finish, and... and you can have the giant and we won't stop you from taking it out. Okay? It's yours. I'm not really thrilled that either of us have it, but we could really use it for a while longer. Besides, you kind of remind me of my mother, so.... Do we have a deal?"
If they continue to resist, Pressi's eyes drop down towards Succotash's body, and she could swear she almost feels his presence. "At least let us bury our dead. Surely your god has some room for such a kindness, even if you don't strike me as the truly religious type."

DM Ken - Danger on the Winds.. The Map Monday September 23rd, 2019 10:03:57 PM
Pressi isn't pleased with the counter offer, and pleas for them to leave and come back tomorrow.
Spider Bliss keeps climbing up all the way to the midsection. He can either make his way to the heart to investigate the walls he's been told about, or he can keep climbing upwards.
Talia makes multiple plans with the others. A plan of sort is hatched, for her to get to the cockpit, unmolested, and link with the mind for an instant transfer. She imparts this to Kezzem.
Hobie is lost, but plans to serve as bodyguard.
Any of them can run through the blade barrier, there's just damage as a result, and the fact that two spells are being readied.
"We aren't going to leave the giant here long enough for it to be destroyed in a last ditch effort. I have my orders and I made my offer. You've in no way given me the slightest idea of how the giant can be anything but a last ditch effort."
She looks again outside.
"I don't want the halflings to die. But I also can't risk fighting until the giant is over-ran. I don't see what option I have other than to leave."
At her signal, the drows readied spell is cast. She gestures, but nothing particularly visible happens. (spellcraft DC 23: Wall of force.)
Ketia casts a spell as well, and everything goes dark. (Spellcraft to detect the obvious Darkness spell, DC 17)
Bliss ignores the middle section and the heart. The action is up, he thinks. He moves up. (Double move)

Pressi watched as the wall of force cut off their one backup option (spellcraft no fail for either, and her true seeing handles magical darkness). She wondered if the universe was sexist or just hated her personally, but probably both.
Slamming at the door, she turned to Talia. "Dimension Door right into the chair and activate the full transfer of Madam Gem right now! Kezzem, smash that wall as much as you can. Hobie... good luck. But if you can't get through the wall, maybe you can find a way around it."
She turned to Tiana. "You, get back down to the gem room. If this thing moves away from the tower, I want you to smash the gems as hard as you can as often as you can or activate the self destruct. Bliss still has another round before he makes it to the shoulders, then one round to the head. This assumes he double moves as his actions each round. The Iron Giant is very tall, and he started at the bottom.
Kezzem and Rumpus each run through the blade barrier and into the wall of force. The Save DC is 24, so Rumpus fails and takes 45 damage. They can stay there and keep attacking the wall of force, but they will remain in the blade barrier and must save each round if they do so. Kezzem can see that his attack left no visible mark on the invisible wall.
Hobie passes his save on the way through the blade barrier, so takes half damage, unless he has evasion. He takes 18 damage
Pressi rushes through the blade barrier, blinking, but finds that no protection from the magical blades. (Blink says force effects affect you normally, and blade barrier is such an effect.). She takes 40 damage from the spell. She also runs smack into the wall of force, and finds herself unable to pass. (Again, force effect.)
Talia moves into the cockpit, via dimension door, and slams the headpiece into place. She gives the order to meld into the tower, and it is immediately followed.
Outside of the Iron Giant, the humming of the tower reaches a sudden and unexpected zenith. The howls of giants are carried up on the wind and reverberate in the metal walls of the Iron Giant. Each one that rushes into the gates of Humbles Ford finds themselves burning with flames they cannot extinguish. Those inside of the walls are instantly turned to ash, and carried into nothingness on the wind.
Even inside of the giant, the battle pauses for a moment, only to be reignited by a scream of anger from Ketia and the drow when the giant lurches, then loses all power and locks itself into place.
------------------------------------------------
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?", Ketia screams with rage. She turns and brings down a huge column of flame on Talia, seemingly unbothered by her invisibility, and in this moment by chance, her blinking. Talia takes 40 points of damage, half divine and half fire. Reflex DC 23 for half.
Snarling, she very quickly casts a second spell. "IF YOU TOLD ME YOU HAD A PLAN I.. I.. I MIGHT HAVE.." .. her lip quivers. "TO SKALDS FURNACE WITH YOU ALL! I WILL AVENGE THIS LOSS OF HONOR BEFORE MY GOD!"
A streak of fiery light flashes out at Talia, but misses the agile sorceress.
-----------
"Big mistake", mutters the drow. She takes a step away from Talia, and dispels her magical effects. It affects 3 spells, and the highest levels. It breaks her True Seeing, it breaks her Blink, and it breaks her Haste.

Bliss hears a commotion coming from below him. Moving up the ladder with a speed almost close to his, is a orc covered in heavy armor.

Rumpus backs up as he cannot take much damage like that.
Not sure what else he can do, Kezzem's going to remain and attempts to pound away at the wall of force with his adamantine short sword.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 = 28. Natural 20, but I assume a force wall is not critable. Damage: 1d4 + 2 = 7.
DC 24 SV Ref for Blade Barrier: 1d20 + 17 = 23. Hero Point! DC 24 SV Ref for Blade Barrier: 1d20 + 17 = 21. And that's worse. I can only use Hero Points to reroll once, correct?

Scent This special quality allows a creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.
The creature can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range.
When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a move action to note the direction of the scent. When the creature is within 5 feet of the source, it pinpoints the source’s location.
A creature with the scent ability can follow tracks by smell, making a Wisdom (or Survival) check to find or follow a track. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10 (no matter what kind of surface holds the scent). This DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry’s odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Survival skill. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.

The Last Charge of the Humble Brigade
Using her new skill set, Talia Dire Tiger / Talia Smildon familiarizes herself with the room and the creatures she must end.
Invisible, Talia Dire Tiger ( or Talia Smilodon) is now using her low-light vision and scent abilities to track her prey to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Having successfully caught a whiff of the enemies, what can I tell from my new abilities and how far are they from me?
The first creature to attack me or try to attack me, I will return the favor and charge them, if I can!

Succotash can't help but laugh at Pressi's witty comment about the lifting with the legs. He is a little relieved to see Pressi in the room with Talia, although he though it was a little weird seeing her pop up through the floor.
Pressi (Melvin) - AC 22, HP 71/112, CMD 22; Harper AC 23, HP 61, CMD 23 Thursday September 26th, 2019 4:07:45 PM
Pressi waits for either of them to respond.
Rumpus backs up, and Kezzem taunts the dwarf. She doesn't seem to be in the mood anymore. Kezzem remains in the blade barrier, and takes 42 damage, 21 if he passed the DC 24 reflex save.
Bliss shoots his webbing at the orc below him, but it doesn't seem to phase it much. It breaks the web easily (nat 20 on the attempt), but is at least slowed by the breaking of the web as much as Bliss was slowed by making it.
Talia casts beast shape 3, and incurs an attack of opportunity from the Drow and Ketia while doing so. Ketia hits AC 35 for 18 damage. The Drow misses, even against the flat footed Talia.
Talia must make a concentration check DC 33 to keep her Beast Shape 3 spell.
(Your DM missed a post and you skipped ahead a round. Sorry about that.)
Pressi does some movement (Sorry, I cant really follow where you want to be. Did you come up on the other side of the blade barrier near Talia?), and taunts her foes.
Hobie tries to dispel the blade barrier, and feels it quiver, but realizes that he came up just a little short. (BB is 11 + 13 = 24. Would you like to spend a point to add 4 to it?)
Ketia continues attacking Talia. She whirls at Pressi.
"I tried to treat you honestly, halfling. Having a plan to instantly wipe out every giant in a 10 mile radius is much different than a plan to use the giants weapons. And I suspect you never intended to give us a working warmachine. You would have circumvented the spirit of the bargain, somehow you wretch!"
She looks back at Talia, then back to Pressi.
"This ones blood is on your hands. We will kill you all and pray your bloody heads satisfy our god where this inert statue cannot."
Ketia hits AC 34, 23, and 35. (The final attack confirms as a crit if you successfully pull of dire tiger form, with your reduced AC, and the second attack will hit as well.), for 14 physical / 5 fire, 12 physical / 6 fire, and 14 physical, 1 fire. (plus 11 physical and 6 fire if crit is successful) If all hit, the total damage is 51 physical and 18 fire damage. Also note that unless you pulled off tiger form, you are denied your dex.
The Drow steps away from Talia, and fires a blinding ray, hitting touch ac 20. Talia is blind for one round, even if a dire tiger.

"Only one still alive? Wow, Press, that was pretty dark. As a paladin of Gargul, I'm supposed to be the goth one!"

Healing: 5d6 = 2 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 6 = 18.
Wow, that's a lot of 1's! Good to be able to reroll them.
"Hey Rumpus, I haven't bliss around lately. Be a good boy and go check on him, will ya?"
He takes out his wand and hits Hobbie with a charge. "So I guess we just stand here and watch?"
Healing: 1d8 + 1 = 9.
To Ketia, Kezzem says, "Yeah, we would have told your our plan, but the whole attacking us while we are trying to defend our home didn't inspire a lot of trust."

Realizing a bit too late that there where other invisible enemies in the room with her, Talia now needs to concentrate to complete her transformation. If I made it, then she transforms into a Dire Tiger (Smilodon) taking 87 hp of damage - 10 for temporary hPs leaves 10 HP's left...now that she took more than 50% of her health in one battle, Talia will mentally roll a Constitution check = 19 to remain standing.
Now, also a blinded Smilodon, Talia will track her most arden enemy and pounce using scent. {Scent Check : 1d20+1 (DC 10) = 12} Assuming I now know where Ketia is, I pounce!
Bliss shrugs and figures on having to deal with that fighter one way or another. He shoots another web, hitting touch AC27.
If the enemy attacks Bliss, he'll activate his bramble armor as a free action. That inflicts 1d6+3 on an attacker ... this round, that's 7 damage.
Mookie flies to the enemy, attacks, and flies back. He's using his Flyby Attack feat, and his Fly check is a 33. His attack on the entangled foe hits AC15, but that's a natural one.
Can Bliss get an idea for the fellow's AC? Touch AC? Do Bliss and Mookie get a bonus to attack from above / higher ground?
"Jeezum Crow!" says the disappointed bird.
Leaving the space next to the fellow triggers an AoO, but note that Mookie still has five mirror images up and running.

That, or a pack of rabbid ferrets that are lactose intolerant.
Pressi cringed at the attacks on Talia and hopes she's in position to give her flanking.
"And you know what, to Scald with your so called honesty. I spent that entire time looking for a shred of compassion, reflection, mercy... decency. Kezzem and Hobie get a little healing from lay hands and a wand. He sends Rumpus to look for Bliss. The animal makes it to the ladders, then looks back at its master unsure of how to proceed.
Talia lands a nasty bite on the dwarf, then, as were the others, she ignites in flames as the spells feedback gets to her. Talia takes 18 fire damage, and collapses on the floor.
Talia must make a stabilization roll. (You've all seen enough spells here to figure she's somewhere between 12th and 15th level. Flame shield is still engaged.)
Bliss webs the enemy again, and then sends Mookie to attack in tandem. He's got an idea of the enemies touch AC, but that's all. The Orc clumsily swings as Mookie leaves his area, but misses.
Pressi heals her ally, (which should leave Talia at 20 and ignore the stabilize bit from above.) then again tries to confront Ketia on grounds of morality.
Hobie: Dispels the blade barrier, and chips away at the wall.
Kezzem seems to have weapon envy.
-------------------------------------------------
Ketia: "I know my convictions, girl. I was willing to help here but you were too stubborn to hand over the machine first without precondition! Even while talking with me you were signaling others to subterfuge. If you had told me you could instantly annihilate your foe without ruining the giant, I would have waited."
She looks around at her situation and assesses it.
"Judge me however you wish. Only a handful of mortals in this world affect my conscience, and it is for them I exist. The opinion of a group of halflings bound for Gargul don't matter anymore."
-
She recognizes the healing spell, and scowls. The again lays into Talia, splitting her attacks between her and Pressi. She Hits Talia on AC 25 for 17 damage, knocking her unconscious to -3. (if my math is right on her hp.) She hits Pressi for 14 damage, and passes the blink test.
The Drow uses her dagger to coup de grace Talia. Talia takes 4 damage, and must pass a fort test DC 14 or be slain.
The Orc again easily bursts through the webbing, and moves within 5ft of Bliss.

(Sorry, just realized Pressi used a hero point.)
Pressi's Point.
Pressi tries to take in their situation. They are locked into deadly combat with an enemy as strong as they are. She has been able to figure out that the Cleric and the Wizard (likely an illusionist) are at least 13th level, though she has no idea about the Orc.
She recognizes Divine Power, Flame Shield as the two most important enemy buffs right now.
The Dwarfs interactions seems to paint her in strongly neutral colors. She hasn't cared about anything other than her own goals and her divine instructions. If those had been achieved through negotiation or force, it didn't matter, but she seemed to have at one point been amenable to preventing some death of the halflings below.
Pressi also figures that had Ketia known their plan, that the giant could have been kept operational if they were just given the extra 3 minutes, she would have allowed it.
Pressi's current options are few.
-She can keep up the fight, but on this side of the wall she's at a disadvantage. However, Hobie will break through soon. Dispelling Ketia would help a lot, if she goes that route.
-Alternatively, they might just retreat. Between Murphy's roaming elementals and an army of halflings, its possible (but not certain) the enemy party would just give up, but they would certainly live under threat of a new assassination attempt. Retreat through the front windows is an option.

Checking to determine is she still as the fortitude to go on...missing her fortitude check the most recent round was too much for her small form, killing her instantly.
In an instant a tiny owl fall off its perch in anguish as her guardian and bonded friend is slain. It screams out in its thoughs, "Long Live The Fighters!" and finishes with "I will always Love You...."
In Talia's mind, she smiles thinking, "Ketia, You will never get over the Disgrace Halflings brought to your honor & your God!..."
Mookie tries his flyby attack again, not caring about the AoO as he flies behind the orc, takes a flanking attack, and then flies away. Between his AC and the five mirror images, he does not worry. He hits AC20 for 5 damage and then flies back behind Bliss.
Bliss tries for a poison bite. He hits AC20 for 30 lethal and 4 nonlethal damage, plus poison [save Fort DC 19; frequency 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d3 Strength; cure 1 save.].
[OOC: Ugh! So many bad rolls to attack!]
Bliss is worried about AoOs, but he does not want this fellow to be able to take full attacks. He tumbles back 10 ft. Acrobatics check 44 to avoid AoOs. But now the orc will have to take a move action to reach him. Bliss looks at the orc (Perception 27) -- if he is using a reach weapon, Bliss tumbles back another 10 ft. DM Ken - Danger on the Winds.. The Map d20+25=26 ; Monday September 30th, 2019 9:02:48 PM Talia and Succotash live vicariously through their companions. Talia doesn't notice anything strange about her familiar. Perhaps its still holding on to its magical properties for now.
Bliss and Mookie both fail to penetrate the Orcs considerable heavy armor, even without the use of his heavy shield. The orc is carrying a bastard sword, and seems to be quite familiar with it.

He swings his bastard sword, which glows with a dark pulsing red aura, but seems to lose his grip for a moment, and his swing misses. (Nat 1)
Mookie uses his flyby attack again. He provokes the AoO like last time, but maybe the fellow only has one and does not want to waste it on a bird?
Anyway, Mookie gets a nat 20 this time, and confirms vs AC36! Wowsy, double 20s! Mookie hits for 13 damage. Then Mookie turns around and flies back. Fly check 22.
Bliss gapes in wonder. "Good one, Mookie old pal!"
Then he tries for a bite. he rolls a 20 again, missing. "Wowsy."
He backs up another 10 ft.

Pressi casts message and, I n halfling, orders everyone (Bliss) to the catapults and weapons platforms. She orders Tiana to where the NPCs (Crabapple) should still be.
If she can reach the Crabapple, she orders her to fire upon the neck or head.
With that, she makes her way to the catapult, running into Harper on the way (she’s been heading up for a while now).
Hobie keeps firing at the wall. All 6 of his arrows hit (the first roll is manyshot) 33-30= 3 34-30=4 41-30=11 30-30=0 36-30=6 43-30= 13 Total damage against Forcewall= 37
Also, Hobie is in Goblin form, so has darkvision and should be able to see anything happening in darkness
Pressi (Melvin) - AC 22, HP 57/112, CMD 22; Harper AC 23, HP 61, CMD 23 Tuesday October 1st, 2019 9:01:33 PM
Seeing Hobie advance, and (OOC) being reminded that they are out of limited ammo, she tells the woman to standby but presses that Kezzem and Bliss should book it to the platforms. (Not that they can blast a hole through the body of this statue, but they might get a shot through a door or a way to detonate it manually. At minimum, they'd have the open space and the knowledge that you don't need the catapult to work with.)
Angry at Hobie's stubborness but unwilling to leave him to his fate, she tries to shove herself back up to the above floor, on the other side of the force wall. "She still has the fire shield," she tells him. "Focus fire on the drow first."
Harper continues to run towards the catapult platform as per Pressi's plan B instructions.
Catapult ammo is much smaller than one would expect, and easily able to be handled by a single person. There are standard looking metal balls, as well as glass balls with an oily substance inside. Explosive rounds: 10d10 damage in 30' radius, Incendiary rounds: 6d8 damage in a 30' radius, burns for 1d6 rounds. Enemies damaged burn for 3 rounds after they exit the AoE.

Bliss and Mookie finally make some progress, and Mookie lands a hit on the orc. Bliss can now gauge the Orcs AC at 29. (Less currently, because of climbing.)
Hobie chips away at the wall of force. He saw the casters cast some spells last round, one of which seemed to be a heal, and the other was from the invisible drow he cant see.

"Ok, here's what I am thinking. First, you should know that the smart play is to just take off and deal with these guys later, and I want to give you a chance to turn that down so I can pin it on you when my own plan goes south.
"Second, I've been racking my brain for any advantages left. I don't know about you but I only have a couple of low level spells left (and one chance to fire a high level spell I already cast, like Suffocate or Living Voodoo). So environment and forcing them to use resources is going to be key. There should be a couple of pieces of ammo remaining, don't know if any of them are incendiary but we will use what we can. I'm thinking ambushes, range attacks from flying, solo+flight rather than manyshot. And, obviously, keep them separated and on our turf for a change. This would work better with four of us, but we do what we can. I don't know what tricks they have left... and have no intention of finding out. Every spell, we tactically retreat. No more digging through walls or darkness for them."

Succotash and Talia continue to have a strange, after death discussion while watching the battle unfold.
Pressi and Hobie share their feelings on the current state of affairs. Pressi knows now, in her mind, where Ketias stance was grounded, but quite frankly didn't care. And that's fine, because she's a mortal, not a god, and perfection isn't a feat anyone can take.
Hobie reassures Pressi, and lets her know as long as she's not fleeing, he's not losing faith in her.
Kezzem sees the anti-paladin, and sees Bliss. He decides that's he's helping Bliss, and double moves towards him. It draws an AoO from the orc, which hits AC 33 for for 17 damage.
Still, he makes it by and makes it to Bliss. It is up to Bliss whether or not to mount the carpet.
------------------------------
The Orc watches the two retreat, and begins climbing UP the ladder again, towards the head of the giant.
Bliss is not ready to let that darn orc go. He just spent two rounds softening him up! He has to get at least one last lick in.
First, Bliss casts Ill Omen on the orc. That means the next two d20 rolls he makes, he has to roll twice and take the worse result.
Then Bliss reaches deep, makes a heroic effort, and casts a Focused-Curse-enhanced Bestow Curse spell.
Mookie will deliver the Bestow Curse. It is a Will save DC17 spell, which would not normally impress anybody, but considering that the orc has a net -4 on saves (hopefully a -1 based on reducing his Chr bonus, -2 for the Eye of Newt, and -1 for the Focused power), and considering that he has to roll twice, maybe it will work!
Does Mookie deliver it? Touch AC29 says yes. (Fly check to turn on a dime and come back: 23). Mookie's mirror images flicker out as he comes back to Bliss.
The form of Bestow Curse chosen by Bliss is the one that inflicts a -4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks.
If the Curse takes hold, Bliss will not retreat on the carpet, but in fact keeps pace and follows the orc.
If he saves twice, then Bliss hops on the carpet and flies away with Kezzem.
Either way, he asks, "Sir Kezzem, have you any healing left? Or any way to lift my fatigue, my friend? How are the others doing? Are we winning?"

Bliss curses the orc. Kezzem heads outside, minus Bliss, who decided to confront the foe.
Hobie talks with Pressi to take stock of the situation.
Pressi herself isnt totally sure, but is relieved to have everyone together. It's short lived, as Bliss engages the anti-paladin in solo combat. She prepares to go back inside.
She doesn't see enemies in the stairwells, they must still be in the head.
-------------------------------
The Orc curses as he feels the curse take hold. Bliss was successful. The Orc turns, snarling.
"Begone pest!"
The orc turns and jumps down from the ladder, back again to the middle platform. He swings his sword down on Bliss as he descends from above, cleaving his sword down on Bliss as he descends. With Bliss's -4 but the bonuses from Smite Good, that hits AC 32 for 27 damage.
He lands with a heavy thump, taking some damage himself from the fall.
"I need support, women!" The orcs voice echoes up through the stairwells.
A few moments later, an answer comes.
"Retreat idiot, we are leaving!"
The orc replies, "I'll include this in my report, Ketia!". He chuckles as he hears cursing coming from the head of the giant.
--------------------------
Sanity info - Right now combat is happening on a small platform, similar in dimensions to the shoulder area behind the head. The orc is holding the stairwell. The other two are still above in the head.
[OOC: Adjusted my AC up by 1 because I am no longer fatigued. PC sheet updated.]
[OOC: Kindly DM Ken, note that the Orc was still under the effect of Ill Omen when he attacked Bliss. It affected his next two d20 rolls. Those were the save vs curse and the attack. So he needs to reroll again at -4 vs Bliss's AC31. At net +21 he needs a 10 or better, so we'll see.
I'm assuming that after the orc's leaping attack, he is not in melee range of Bliss. If he is, Bliss will cast on the defensive.
Bliss uses another Ill Omen (no save, using a second level slot because I'm out of first level slots), and then uses another hero point to cast casts a Blindness spell at the orc, using his second Focused Curse. With the Touch of Idiocy (-1) the Eye of Newt (-2), the Focused Curse (-1) and the Bestowed Curse (-4) he should be saving at -8. The save DC is 16.
If needed, rolls to cast on the defensive ... at +13 ... needs two 19s ... rolls 21 and 22, ok!
Then Bliss leaps back and climbs up! His goal is to get a full move away and hopefully high enough to be out of channel range. If he starts move right next to the orc, he tumbles away at +34 and rolls a 47 to avoid AoOs. Roll to leap ... 47 ... to climb ... 43.
Remember, per Ill Omen, he's rolling twice on his next roll.
Bliss continues to taunt him. "I sent my ally to safety, and you need to call for help. Loser!"
"Kid, ya really gotta get better material," Mookie says. "Like this! Anti-Paladin?! More like Anti-Palatable, amirite?"
Mookie makes a Flyby attack! He does not worry about AoOs, even though the Mirror Images are gone. He rolls a nat 1, though. "Meh, you taste too bad to bite. Probably from the dirt and filth all over ya."

Bliss's magical warding does him good, and the enemy misses what he thought was a sure hit. Kezzem starts evacuating Bad Apples. Succotash and Talia try to use their magic on the orc.
Neither quite finds the way to pull it off though (gave 10% chances), and they are frustrated and dead again. The orc though, seems to notice something amiss.
Pressie flies Hobie up one level.

The Orc tries to identify ill omen as it is cast, but fails by rolling a 1. Then he needs to save vs Blindess. His two results are 19 and 11. His modifier for Fortitude saves is +20. Even minus 8, he easily passes.
Then in comes Kezzem on the attack, in what I assume are ranged tosses? The orc takes 44 damage from those.
-------------------------------------
From above, things happen. If no one has eyes on the cockpit, they aren't really sure. And even if they are, unless they are still true seeing, they also aren't sure. If they are all of these things, they see an invisible Ketia and Sashe, (the illusionist), descending in flight down the ladderwell.
Orc, AC 29: 32 damage. On ground level. Still ill omened.
Laughing, the orc draws and drinks a potion, then tosses the glass flask on the ground.
(Ignore the d6's. I started hitting the wrong button on the potion)

Bliss webs the orc again, hoping the -4 curse penalty will make it harder for him to break free. He hits touch AC28, so that's worth a webbing!
"Keep throwing Sir Kezzem!" Bliss shouts. Then he backs up so that he is 50 feet away. He holds the line of his webbing like a net so that they'll have to have a strength fight if he wants to run away.
Mookie again tries a flyby attack. Again he rolls a natural 1.
"Kid," he caws, "I'm not sure I'm a good bet for life as a front line fighter!"
Notes on Orc: -- He is entangled: An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a -2 penalty on all attack rolls and a -4 penalty to Dexterity. DC19 escape artist or DC23 strength check to escape. -- He is cursed: -4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks -- Eye of Newt: He has a -2 to save vs Bliss's Spells and -2 to hit Bliss. -- Ill Omen: He rolls twice, takes the worse.
If Bliss or Mookie sense their ghostly friends, Bliss will call out -- "We'll avenge you and get you back! Don't worry!"

Succotash will try phasing through the orc, hoping that it will creep him out a bit.
Last post, Hobie was following Pressi to get to wherever the heck Bliss had got himself to.
Assuming he gets to some place close to the battle, he will shoot some arrows.
If he and Pressi started ABOVE Bliss and the orc, then maybe he ends up higher than the orc, so that from highest to lowest, we got Hobie and Pressi, then the orc on the landing, then Bliss below?
Well, either way, seems reasonable to pump the orc full of arrows.
[OOC: In a recent post, Hobie shot six arrows at the wall of force, but I only see three attacks per round on his sheet, so Ima roll three.]
Arrows against the entangled orc, using Deadly Aim (-4 to hit, +8 damage): The first attack hits AC31. The second, wowsy, is a nat 20 that confirms with a nat 20! The third misses.
Damage on the first attack is 29.
Damage on the confirmed crit, with arrows as a x3 crit mod, is 25+27+29 = 81 total from Hobie!
That's 81+29 = 110 damage this round to the orc. Sweet!

Bliss webs the orc without much difficulty. With the ranged attacks from Kezzem and Hobie, the anti-paladin falls with a gurgle, and moves no more.
Pressi turns up to warn Ketia and Sashe, but they are already gone. Whether or not they heard her warning, she has no idea, but she's very sure that Ketia will not forget her. Assuming she isn't executed for her failures to Skald, that is.
In the aftermath, and there's much of it, there are dead giants, a dead anti paladin, a dead iron giant, and a fully functional set of towers, protecting Humbles Ford for its bright and foreseeable future.

Pressi agrees to Hobie's request, allowing him to travel forth before she gets to work.
Checking in on Kezzem, she determines if everyone made it out, or if there are still people (besides the team) in the Iron Giant. She also tries to track down Tiana to get a status on the energy transfer.
After checking with Bliss' search, she takes out her own cauldron, encourages him to take out his, and attempts to contact the rest of the coven for an update on the town and field.
Beyond that, there's the attempt to reach anyone who can possibly raise Talia and Succotash. (She has the random reanimate spell but neither strike her as the kind of people that would accept that.) Scrolls or an actual cleric may need to be found.
If there is time, Pressi does try to get a good look for some tracks, an idea of where the invading Skalders went or where the invading giants came from. Some clue as to what they might face next or whether they are truly safe.
To fit all this in, Pressi chooses to avoid luxuries like eating or resting, though she probably feels the urges within the iron giant. She figures, in the back of her head, that Murphy would have a list at least twice as long. But this is what she can think of for now.

It doesn't take long to scout the rest of the giant and find no new enemies. Succotash and Talias bodies lay side by side, each with their pinkies missing. There's any number of reasons for this, but the more magically inclined immediately consider things like curses and scrying.
The Orcs bodies is covered in magical glow. The following items are found, and easily identified.
Unholy Bastard Sword +1 Headband of Alluring Charisma +4 Heavy Wooden Shield +3 Cloak of Resistance +2 Boots of Elvenkind Full Plate of Light Fortification +3 Belt of Physical Might (+2 Dex, +2 Con)
Tiana informs Pressi the transfer is complete, and the Iron Giant is now a very large lawn ornament. There's no real telling where Skalds people went, but Pressi remembers her own Word of Recall spell being enough to get in and out. It's feasible the priestess was similarly prepared.
Outside, those evacuating the Bad Apples find that a crowd is beginning to gather, as humble Hobbits defending their homes and streets finally start to realize they are safe, and wonder towards the heroes who held the gates and restored the tower.

When these words are uttered by Kezzem, the Wold goes quiet. It only takes you a moment to realize that it is because time has ground to a halt. Everything is frozen in place, silent and still... except for you.
"Let's see. Humble's Sword, party of six?" The high pitched voice that breaks the silence is quite familiar. Stepping over the bodies of the orcs and walking (not flying) towards the party comes the little imp figure: Gimp.
He looks at the corpses of Succotash and Talia and gives a small whistle. "Oooh. A two-fer. Haven't had one of these for a while" He nudges Succotash's corpse with his foot "Well. You have some time before the boss man gets here. Might want to get your stories straight and put your bargaining faces on. That or perhaps say some final goodbyes"
Gimp gives two claps in quick succession and the translucent spirits of Succotash and Talia become visible to you. Pinkie fingers attached.

He is a bit upset about the missing pinkies, but keeps his anger I check. Turning to Gimp, Succotash says, “I have no need to get my story straight, as a Paladin I am forbidden to lie, and if your master sees fit to return me to life, good, but if my final journey is at hand I will face it without fear!”

ooc: Am I reading it correct that the spirits of Talia and Sucker appear visible in front of the rest of Humbles Ford? if so this is Hobie's post, and if not, see below:
As the spirits of his dead friends appear, Hobie is filled with a feeling of failure. He takes his hat from his head and places it on his heart. "My friends! I'm so sorry for your pain, I should have done more to protect you. Succotash, I left you when I went after the spell caster. I should have stayed by your side! Talia! I shouldn't have let you run ahead of me like you did, I should have prepared different spells so that I might have torn down the walls and been there to protect you.
Hobie puts his head down and sings-
There's a grief that can't be spoken, There's a pain goes on and on. Empty chairs at empty tables, Now my friends are dead and gone.
Oh my friends, my friends forgive me That I live and you are gone There's a grief that can't be spoken, And there's a pain goes on and on"
If I misread that, and Hobie doesn't see the spirits of his friends, Hobie will rush off, still flying and still in Goblin form, to find his cousin, the town Constable Roscoe. I imagine Roscoe would be confused about the goblin, but would surely recognize Hobie's hat and dragon skin boots.

This feels like a tie at best. A few men down each, a broken machine, an uneasy peace. The woman who did this won't let this go. I made her mad. That makes me feel a little better."
She switches gears. "Can... I still speak to Madam Gem? I think I do owe her an apology."
She thinks about the missing pinkies and word of recall. "Tomorrow, when my spells come back, it's going to be time to hit some divinations of my own. And we need to hit the books hard, and maybe the inns of some of the surrounding towns. Figure out who these guys are. It's supposed to be my thing."
-------------
At Gimp's appearance, "A sight as always, to our popular figure. Not really in the mood for barbs. You may not have noticed, but it's been a day."
She listened to Gimp say some words. "Give it to me straight. How mad is the guy upstairs? Because I am thinking the truth is rather straightforward... and the destruction of a major war machine that almost wound up in the wrong hands must count for something."
To Talia, "Yeah... just a trophy taking. Definitely not worse than that." She explains that she's been in this situation a time or two.
Bliss nods and says quietly, "We're heroes, so all we need to do is tell the truth."
"I think."
You all note that Bliss is much more subdued -- apprehensive, even -- about this meeting.

There is an ominous thumping noise approaching and it's getting louder. Thump. Thump. THUMP. A massive, dark robed figure - far larger than that of any giant - is walking this way. In his right hand he holds a staff that he strikes down sharply as he walks. You have no doubt in your mind as to who it is.
Lord Gargul stops some fifty feet away from the party and looks down at you all. He sighs deeply and leans heavily on his staff. "These are the ones you called me here for, Gimp?" His voice is so deep you can feel the vibrations in your chest. As to his mood? You can't quite make out his face from under his hood.

As the massive, dark robed figure - far larger than that of any giant approaches the vibrations from his Thumping sets up a similar resonance within Talia, that Talia feels the only thing to do is follow her own ideal Protocol and kneel before Lord Gargul. She will stay in this position until otherwise directed.
Thinking to herself, "Wow, this is awesome, such power flows through Lord Gargul...I wonder if I will survive this opportunity!

"Let's not allow those invaders off the hook. They didn't fight out of need or self defense. They didn't challenge us to fair duels or take advantage of some oversight. They deliberately attacked us at our weakest point with our very town on the line. They attacked without mercy and without a moment to breathe. Talia died because those two saw the fighting was over, and ganged up on her anyway. No amount of strategy obviates that simple fact.
"So I will be making one lie of admission. I won't say out loud what I'm going to do once I've discovered where they went and who their loved ones and townspeople are. Going to let that be a surprise."
(There is a modest chance that Pressi won't actually go through with it.)

Pressi continues to stand, with nothing but a head bow. She tries her best not to show any emotion.
"Oh, great and powerful Gargul... It has been a while. I am Pressi Silverglove, leader of Humble's Sword. And we come before you to request that you return our fallen heroes. Not just out of mercy, but because a grave injustice has occurred and may continue to occur without your wisdom and intervention."
Through his empathic link, Bliss senses indignation from Mookie. Translated into words, he knows it would be something like, "Leader! Who elected her leader!?"
Bliss sends back an empathic kick that says, "Hush, Mookie!"

As a servant of Pantheon, I have done my best to treat and judge everyone I've come in contact with both fairly and justly, and have striven to be a hero of justice. Though I abhor unnecessary blood shed, I am the first to charge into battle, when diplomacy fails, and am the last to retreat from the battlefield, doing so only for the greater good of the party, which often frustrates Pressi. If you see fit to send me back, I will continue to live my life in this fashion, but I have no fear of death, and if you decide not to, I will face my final journey with anticipation. I do ask that if you feel one of us should stay, then please send back Talia, and keep me, for her to die without unlocking the mysteries of her past would be tragic".

Bliss bows low, Talia kneels, Pressi lowers her head and Succotash gives a bow.
Most of the party have something to say, and Gargul listens patiently to each of you in turn. He doesn't rush you or interrupt and seems to consider all you have to say. Gimp meanwhile just walks circles around the group and smiles broadly.
"Hmmm. An injustice you say? And what might that be?" Lord Gargul responds to Pressi. You just can't get a read on his mood. You don't think he's asking it to put you on the spot, and he certainly doesn't sound angry in any way. That's a good start at least.
Succotash has quite a bit to get off his chest. "Interesting. Kezzem offers to take the place of someone else whilst Succotash asks on behalf of someone else. You see, Gimp. This is what makes heroes"
Gimp crosses his arms in defiance "Yeah, well, it's easy to have no fear of death when you're already dead"
"Perhaps, though the good of heart needn't fear it at all" Gargul responds in kind, before turning back to the party "You have done well today. All of you. Noone could have asked more. But still.." He pauses to shift his weight a little against the staff "what did you learn today? What would you have done differently? If there was nothing left to learn then perhaps the journey is at an end"

Still from a kneeling position, lady Talia makes her plea. Lord Gargul, I would prefer, that if there is a choice to be made, that you send the honorable and loyal Paladin, Sir Succotash Slenderestick back to the living as he is virtuous and a great defender of the faith, women, and small children.
As the newest member of this Humble group, I have much less to offer. I do not recall my past, nor do I recall any family, and I willing sacrificed my life to save lady Tianana, the rest of the troop, everyone else in the Crescent Valley, and the rest of the Wold from the Giant invasion. I believe with the exception of my owl friend Rayya and this group...it's hard to know what I would have to offer as I do not know what I have done, except through this sacrifice.
If you deem it appropriate to return me to the living, could you tweak my essence a bit on the way back? I'm sure if I had a more broad skillset and/or a different set of feats I could have been in a better support role and could have been able to save at least the virtuous Paladin. I'm sure there could be an additional area or two to improve upon, I'm certain of this.
Thinking back, we should have realized what would have happened by upsetting that Primordial Lava entity that dwells in the land of the The mountains of the Scab, by using its Iron Giant tool as a means to recharge the Giant Towers I'm sure we should have pieced together that his followers would have wanted to pleasure their master in exacting revenge, but for whatever reason that simple idea escaped us.

"I also would lay down my life for my friends. If you should take someone, let it be me, I'm the one who lived a life of thievery and committed murder. Let it be my life to come to end."
"Well," says Bliss, shyly, "we should have better communication so we can coordinate better."

In answer to the question of injustice, Pressi explains what happened in her best prosecutor voice... and with a focus on what Keita said. “I don’t know how much of this you know, whether you and Scald get together. But when an ancient god demands a war machine, and let nothing stand in the way... well I can’t help but see signs of war.
“And what did I learn?” Pressi was silent for a while, save for the popping of a molar. It’s pretty clear she’s reluctant to answer.

He thinks about it for a while, and one can tell by the look in his face, that he is really thinking hard, and one can clearly see that he is soul searching, until finally he answers, "Well sir, you see, when I joined this team, which has rapidly become more of a second family to me, I vowed to do anything within my power to protect my comrades, including laying down my life if needed. I figured that one of the best ways to do that, based on my current skill set, was to put myself in harms way before my friends are put in harms way by the enemy, and use the healing magic gifted to all paladins when appropriate. I feel the methodology has worked fairly well, though I'm sure their is a better way, but for the life of me, I can't come up with one. I am open to suggestions, observations, ECT..., and have a willingness to learn, change, and/or try new things".
ACDM RobC - "I am open to suggestions" Thursday October 17th, 2019 8:35:23 AM
In turn you explain what it is that you have learnt from the experience. Gargul turns his attention to each of you, and beneath his hood you can just make out his eyes - unblinking and focused, as if peering into your very soul.
"It sounds like a common theme is how you work together. Support, communication, and tactics. Perhaps it was good that you learned this now with only two lives lost. It wouldn't do for you all to perish at the same time."
"There's always next time!" Gimp pipes up with a huge grin. He looks to Gargul and can sense the mood. Gimp looks away quite sheepishly and tries to hide from Gargul's view by standing behind Hobie.
Gargul pauses to look at Talia for a moment in consideration, before turning his attention to Pressi. "Why do you remain silent?" His eyes linger on you "Hopefully you are not tempted to follow the path of Jancassis. Such a course would not be wise"

"How dare you even...."
Pressi paused for a moment, aware of the eyes upon her, before moving to a full bow, a voice much softer. "Forgive me for forgetting my place. I simply wish to assure you that I am aware of the dangers of such a course. I remain in control, and I remain committed to the principles of justice and mercy that I am sworn by. I am, as always, a soldier for peace, and gods willing a light in the darkness.
"I remain silent because I do not wish to lose sight of what has transpired or what might transpire in the future. My moral and strategic failings cannot be allowed to absolve them of theirs. And if we lose sight of these dangers just out of view...
"I do have one apology that I should have made before. I can be arrogant. Short sighted. I left my post at a critical time to show off what my single level six spell can do... which in this case could have been recalling right behind Succotash with a breath of life at the ready. I gave Talia the order to shut down the statue because I was sure a supposedly non-evil person would not simply and callously murder out of revenge, and that left her trapped. I am sorry for both deaths, and I hope you both can forgive me.
"But I cannot be held responsible for the actions of others. These followers of Scald chose once again to invade our home, and may do so again. They took the pinkies of our dead. That is a sign that they intend to scry upon us... or worse. They were prepared to leave our entire town defenseless against a giant army, and the best they could offer in return for a massive war machine is that they will leave us alone if they feel like it. They chose to fight even when there was nothing for them to gain. They were unyielding in negotiation, and unyielding in battle, and when I gave Talia the breath of life so we could retreat, they killed her again. They may not detect as evil, and I'm sure they have some choice words about me. But they clearly don't follow the path of Gargul, or any form of goodness or nature, either. I didn't pursue when they retreated, but I don't intend to be played by these followers of Scald twice. "
Pressi takes a few deep breaths, wondering if she made things worse.
(OOC: This is how Pressi sees Keita, and does not necessarily reflect how she actually is. Also, sorry for the post length.)

As the words leave Pressi's lips you can see Gargul's hand squeeze his hand around his walking staff, his knuckles going tight and staff takes on a soft white glow. He says nothing, and waits for her to finish.
When all has been said he is still silent. He just stands there for a moment that seems to last and last.
Not even Gimp dares to say anything right now, though does take a few cautious steps back from the party.
Then Gargul looks at Pressi and walks towards her. As he does so, he decreases in size until he is the same height as Pressi. Oh, there's no doubt of the power within the god and one still sees the burden of responsibility that causes his shoulders to sag a bit. As he stops in front of Pressi, he says in a very stern tone "I am Gargul, God of Life and Death. I am tasked with judging the dead and placing them in their proper place in the afterlife. I judge whether those of the Noble Races should live again or remain dead."
He looks about at the party before settling his gaze once more on Pressi.
With little warning he steps forward and gives her a great big hug. He whispers so only Pressi can hear. "Pressi Silverglove, I wouldn't change a thing about you." He then slaps her on the back almost knocking her over and begins walking away, fading from view with Gimp by his side.

He quickly looks down at what he is wearing and sees green silk robes, of the kind often worn by Clerics. The robes are beautifully embroidered, in gold thread, with the holy symbols of all the Woldian gods. Reaching for his holy symbol he finds the familiar Gavel of Pantheon has been replaced by a silver disk that has the various holy symbols, of the Woldian gods, exquisitely carved in relief. He instinctively pats himself down, and notices something hard under the robes. A brief examination reveals a mithril breastplate hidden there. He stands up and says to his friends, "I don't think I'm a paladin anymore!"
