Only slightly agitated she wasted on of her stronger spell slots, Sesha is willing to let things play a little this time before she casts anything stronger than some lower spell level buffs.
DM Hugh - The Shrine Friday October 18th, 2019 12:09:10 AM Restlin makes small talk with Mercutio as they travel. He tries to get a read on the man outside of the effects of the Crystal City. When they reach the shrine he asks about the offerings at the foot of the statue.
Garret takes a seat at one of the tables and looks around expectantly for a waiter.
Wyaar searches the area for traps and other hidden things.
Zane suggests they be prepared in case of an attack and also to warn the skeletons so they aren't caught unawares.
Tink lets the skeletons know they are at the shrine and ascends 40 feet to get an aerial view.
Beri also ascends to the air and looks out for any threats like the demons. He suggests that Tink be ready to warn the skeletons in case they get attacked.
Sesha compliments Beri and uses some low level buffs.
During the trip to the Shrine Mercutio regals Restlin of tales of exploits from the war as well as bawdy tales from his youth. When Restlin asks about the statue the man says, "Good eye. Yes the statue acts as a kind of leave what you can, take what you need area. Rope is a good offering."
No waiter ever shows up at Garret's table.
Wyaar does not find any threats on the ground nor secret passageways or hidey holes. This is a rather WYSIWYG area.
Wenzel responds to Tink that his contingent should be joining them shortly.
Tink observes the statue tradition is similar to Waard's back home.
Beri and Tink do not observe any threats from the air and are able to get a birds eye view of the Skeletal contingent approach.
Wenzel is joined by Skelter and 7 others.
The contingent arrives at the shrine and Wenzel says, "Hello again Iron Dragons and Mercutio. I thought it fitting our numbers were matched and beside my second Skelter here we have elected 7 representatives to negotiate the peace. I believe you know Skelter. These are Aerin, Piper, Blade, Sly, Cujo, Wilkins and Ouivel" at each of the skeletal troopers he brought with him.
Wenzel places a small canister at the foot of the statue. "I think leaving an offering is the least we could do to thank this place for being here so that we could meet."
"Mercutio, it is nice to see you again. How long has it been?" Wenzel asks
Mercutio says, "Too long. I wish things could have been different. We did see some action during the war together. I'm mereley here to act as a royal witness and lend some authority to the Iron Dragons. You know me Wenzel, I'm more of a blunt instrument than anything else. The Iron Dragons will take point in the negotiations and should you request something we aren't authorized to approve we do have a way to contact her majesty quickly in order to discuss. Shall we get to business?"
Wenzel replies, "Yes I'm interested in hearing more about your proposal to destroy the artifact by the hands of one of our number. What can you offer on that front?"
He looks expectantly at you.

Restlin's heartened by Wenzel and Mercutio's friendliness. He decides to start talking. "Right, pleasure to meet you all, first off. We do have a way of destroying the heart for good. Stroke of luck really, since it's exactly what we came to this world to find.
"We have a rogue deity of sorts back in our world. He was locked away many years ago with a...well, with a pretty convoluted scheme. We've spent a great deal of effort tracking down the who's and what's that we need; one of those what's is a powerful heart of goodness." He puts up his hands. "Philosophy of and reaction to the Queen's actions over your shared histories aside, the heart does fit our needs. It will be destroyed in the ritual. Plus, if for some reason it survives, we have a specifically tailored demiplane in our tower we use to dispose of cursed and evil magics. We throw it in there, it is never coming out.
"Her majesty has already agreed to let us remove the heart from this world should these talks prove fruitful, so let's assume it's a done issue. What other impediments to peace need to be handled?"

It is our understanding that much has been tried in this realm to destroy the heart, and all attempts have failed. As for having one of your number destroy it, this is actually a requirement. You see, the ritual was designed such that the required components and actors could not be found within our realm. Per your question, what we offer is to bring one of you with us to destroy the heart in the ritual, then we can return you afterwards.
Full disclosure, after the ritual there will in all likelihood be a battle between the rogue deity and his counterpart. The short version is a battle between good and evil, though the full story is much more complicated and nuanced. While the ritual itself will be safe, we can't guarantee what will happen after. However, the alternative would be to let the rogue deity escape unchecked at full strength, and that would result in death to any realm he reaches.
One more thing, I believe the coins we used before should be functional. We have used similar communication between the realms. So you should be able to stay informed as to the status of the ritual and have confirmation as soon as the heart is destroyed. Would that satisfy you on this front?

Restlin explains the reason why they came and that the queen has agreed to give them the heart and the ritual they need to perform requires one of the skeletons. He asks what else is needed for peace.
Garret gestures for the skeletal contingent to join his table and they are soon seated with him.
Beri further clairifies Restlin's point and explains the risks involved but that the coin technology should work for communication between realms.
Bosk watches the reactions of the other group
Zane comments over the rings.
Wenzel strokes his chin and says, "Interesting and convenient," To Mercutio he says, "You trust these Iron Dragons when they say they have the ability to destroy the heart?"
He then says, "What of the other ritual participants and presumably any other accouterments that you need. Have they all been gathered? How long would we have to wait before one of us can be done with the pact once and for all?"
Mercutio says to Wenzel, "They've been nothing but honest with us since they got here and they helped talked her majesty off the ledge with respect to actually using the pact, so the way I see it you kind of owe them."
Skelter says, "I volunteer to be our representative assuming we make this deal."
Aerin says, "Can you tell us more of this contingency vault should the ritual itself fail to destroy the heart. Ideally we want it destroyed but if there is a chance the ritual won't work then we need to be extremely sure that locking it up in the vault will prevent anyone from ever recovering it."
Piper says, "We would need to do everything we could to assure the troops that the ritual would work. Remember some are calling for the queen's head as the only way to be truly sure the pact is not a threat."
Blade says, "Assuming we go through with this sticking point what of the resources to build our own autonomous city? What is the queen offering and what guarantee does she provide that we would be sovereign?"
Sly says, "Is the queen going to try to forcibly disarm us the way she has you folks for the most part once we are settled down? Granted we are walking weapons but there are things that can be done to make us less formidable and we do have a natural right to defend ourselves that should be recognized"
Cujo says, "Yes any deal we strike with the queen has to include 3 things. 1) The destruction of the threat of the pact. 2) A guarantee we will never be conscripted against our will and 3) some recognition of our right to bear arms."
Wilkins says, "Mayhap we draft a formal document outlining the rights we wish the queen to recognize with respect to our people?"
Ouivel says, "Tell me more of the positions reserved for us on the Queen's council. What responsibilities would be expected and what privileges granted? If we have this guarantee of rights would the queen respect the rights of our representative in her city or would our representatives be expected to follow the local custom?"
It seems like there are other details to iron out before peace can be achieved after all.

To Blade: "I am not sure as to what sort of resources the Queen would provide for the construction of a city of your own. What is it that you think you will need? We can then put that back to the Queen"
To Sly: "I don't believe she will try to forcibly disarm anyone. As free people I expect that sort of decision to be your own"
To Cujo: "What sort of guarantee would you be looking for in terms of never being conscripted against your will? What is it that the Queen could offer that would be satisfactory to you?"

As in we are the only ones able to open it. and in our years together, I've never had a reason to even open it. And remember, that option would only need to be used, if somehow the Heart survives the Ritual. Which we've been assured won't happen.
As to help building your city, I would expect if you asked The Queen for assistance, it would probably be given.
But remember respect and assistance go both ways. The Queen has disarmed her City, When you are invited to visit there or for any reason, I'd volunteer to leave your weapons behind. Seeing as you are like myself, you are the weapon, extra weapons are mostly redundant.
From meeting her, I believe the Queen wants to make this peace work. This peace will take effort from both sides, it won't be handed to either side on a silver platter. If both side have to work together to achieve a peaceful resolution, it will last longer and mean more to both sides.
Here's a thought, Since both sides are going to end up working together, you could make part of your offer as being responsible for everyone's safety by becoming Guards of the Land. There are a lot of things both sides can do to promote this peace.
Well, I've said what I need to say."
DM Mitch Monday October 21st, 2019 8:05:06 AM Restlin offers a front row seat to the destruction of the heart. Wyarr nods along Tink addresses several points the undead brought up. Sesha is worried things are going too well and something might show up to mess things up so keeps alert. Zane explains about their storage, the disarmament of the queens city, and muses on how they two sides might work together.
Piper Aerin and Skelter all reply with some level of affirmation to what Restlin, Tink and Zane said regarding the ritual and the contingency plans should it fail.
Blade says to Tink, “We need the resources to craft our own fortified position. I’m not sure what we want to make the walls out of, the crystal city was shaped out of the surrounding mountain. I don’t think that will work for us so we’ll have to build our own walls whether they be stone, wood or some other option I’m not sure.”
Sly says to Tink, “Does the queen not expect her people to go unarmed? How long before she tries to do the same to us without some guarantee?”
Cujo says to Tink, “I don’t know. Do you have some spell that will bind the queen by her word that she won’t disarm, conscript, detain or enslave us?”
Mercutio says to Ouivel, “Well if you decided the route of autonomy then your advisor roles on the council would serve as goodwill ambassadors between our people. They would advise the queen on matters pertaining to your people and hopefully foster the sort of free trade and travel we are looking to see between our peoples. If you decide to rejoin the queendom then again you’d be tasked with improving relations between the Skeletal Troopers and the fey but you’d have more formal titles.”
Ouivel says to Mercutio “Interesting and what kind of recompense is the queen offering these advisors.”
Mercutio says, “The ambassadors or ministers of fey / skeletal trooper relations would be eligible to draw the same salary that I and the other council members draw. You would serve at the Queen’s leisure but we could try to alter the terms so that there is a more representative way for determining who your folk are and what their terms should be. We can iron out the details later but this is technically a better deal than any other advisor role currently on her council when you factor in the fact you could have your own autonomous city.”
Wenzel says, “I’m not sure we need magic perhaps an old fashion treaty with some type of document recognizing our rights appended to it would suffice?”

She looks about and nods "I think we've made some real progress here today towards ensuring a peaceful future"
DM Mitch Tuesday October 22nd, 2019 8:26:33 AM Garret goes for a high five. Wyarr agrees that a regular treaty would work best. Restlin points out geases can be broken and wonders who will come do the ritual. Zane has had his say. Beri also agrees that a paper treaty is best and talks about the task of building trust again. Bosk lets the others settle the details. Tink thirds the agreement on no magical binding.
Skelter high fives Garret back and says, “You heard me. We collectively agree to this and I’m in. I’ll do your ritual, destroy the heart, help you with your deity problem and then if the heart somehow survives the ritual, see it tossed into your vault of no return.” Cujo says to Restlin, “There needs to be some sort of contingency in case the queen decides to get tyrannical. That is why we must keep our arms and that right must be guaranteed if magic will not bind her behavior.” Wenzel says to Beri and Wyaar, “We tentatively have your ritual participant in Skelter, my second. While he is free to undertake this task, all I ask is that he try to come back in one piece. I think I’ll need his council in the times ahead. It seems like Mercutio and Blade can hammer out the details regarding city construction. I’m sure that old skinflint Corgan will want to have a say with respect to our request if Mercutio has to consult the Queen but that can’t be helped. Also it seems like Mercutio and Ouivlet can hammer out the terms of the council positions and if we do decide to formally accept the offer. With that being said I guess we can do a preliminary poll to see how we are feeling with the prospect of a tentative rough agreement where we front one Skelter, the Queen fronts one artifact embodying the pact and Skelter, the artifact and you go complete your ritual. We can have a ceasefire while we wait for you to return and tell us the outcome.”
Wenzel looks at the others and say “Aye” Skelter looks at the others and says “Aye” Sly looks at the others and says “Nay, we need to hash out the respect of our rights first” Cujo says, “Nay, I agree with Sly” Blade says, “Abstain, I cannot vote while the defense of our people in their new home is up for debate.” Ouivel says, “Aye but I would like a council seat should we accept the queen’s offer with respect to her council” Wilkins says, “Nay, I too would like to have at least a draft document recognizing our rights in process before we agree” Piper says, “Aye and lets speed Skelter and the artifact on their way” Aeren says, “Nay. While I have hope for Skelter and the ritual Sly raises a good point.”
Wenzel says to all assembled, “So that is 4 ayes, 4 nays and 1 abstainment. We are well and truly split.” To the Iron Dragons he says,”What can you do to help us reach a quorum? The larger majority we have for this decision the easier it will be for any potential holdouts amongst my people to accept. It is quite possible that if this outcome is contested it could spark a revolt amongst our ranks and then I couldn’t guarantee any peace we may have thought we won.”
Zane (JCC) AC 37(31), CMB 25, CMD 32, HP 324/311, Blindsense 60' Character Tuesday October 22nd, 2019 10:04:53 AM "I'm sure that we can get a document, with the Queens signature assuring everything that has been agreed to, with the proviso of the hearts destruction of it's placement in our storage facility on a different plane. I also would like to add a suggestion to be added. That we arrange a way for both sides to be able to reach us, The Iron Dragons if either side should happen to think the other side has violated the agreed upon terms. We do not have a side in this dispute, other than seeing a just and peaceful solution for everyone. And as I said before, I think that your side being responsible for over all safety on the land makes sense. Those Demons that made the original bargain with the Queen are still out there, and I doubt very much if they will just give up trying to take over. Either from this continent of by starting on another and bringing their evil here."
She understands they desire to take and take, to fill the hurts from the past. She's willing to try and ask them to give.
"I'm sure the Queen could probably acquiesce to quite a bit of this, but you are asking for the world. While you have that right, how about something else to bind both sides."
She considers the attitudes at the table, before settling on Blade.
"I like that you are considering the wellness of your people. The queen is considering hers. How would you feel then, adding a clause that weaves both sides together? Should the demons return, with any force or threat, led or allied by either side or an outside party, lets decree that any forces under the command of any party signing the treaty is obligated to fight against them."
She points at the commanders.
"Break your military arm up into smaller branches, each of you leading an equal force. The queen shall do the same, such as it may exist. There is a consideration for Mercutio to lead a peace keeping corps, so there's that."
She shrugs.
"This way, should anyone dishonor the treaty and attack the other side, especially aided by the demons, there is a credible threat immediately ready to restore the balance."
She doesn't even bother to hide the obvious flaw.
"If you all decide to rebel against the peace and overthrow the queen...which is FAR more likely than her gathering a force and doing the same.." She shrugs. "Such is diplomacy."

Garret nods in agreement with Restlin, not sure how he can add more and knowing when he should keep his big mouth shut...
"Or, we could just draft the document a few of you asked for. We've got some big brains in this gathering, surely we could hash something out."
He takes off his pack, and pulls out a small box and paper. He opens the box, digs through his crayon collection until he finds a pen, then closes it. He finds someplace comfortable to sit and start writing, then he does so. He starts off with a lofty preamble about putting aside past differences and coming together for the good of all and the combined protection of their shared lands. He specifies a few specifics in the meat of the treaty:
The skeletal troopers will have rights equal to the living citizens of the land. Two troopers will serve on the council with rights and responsibilities of all other council members. The method for determining these two members is left to the troopers to decide. The heart the queen used to bind the troopers will be destroyed before the treaty takes effect. If it cannot be destroyed, the Iron Dragons will confiscate it and seal it away in their dimension, subject to confirmation by all parties. Borders will be open between the two, though visitors are subject to local laws. Both parties will enter into a defense pact with the other, requiring military assistance in the event one side is attacked by outside forces.
Diplomacy check to write a suitable treaty: 65
He puts his pen down. None of this solved the issue of insurance against the queen double-crossing these skeleton folk. Then, he remembers the great equalizer in diplomacy: money. He picks up his pen and writes down one last point:
Free trade will exist between the two parties.
He puts his pen down again. "No treaty is fool-proof, but this sets both parties up for success. If you want further insurance against betrayal, tie your economies together. Let any hostilities from any party come with huge economic costs. Magical confinements can be broken, but large numbers of starving, unemployed citizens cannot be ignored." He pushes the pen and paper forward, "thoughts? suggestions?" he asks.

He suggests that some of the undead be placed in key jobs Tink looks over Restlin’s shoulder as he writes.

Aeren says, "I like your idea Cujo."
Wilkins says to Zane, "Could we have your part of neutral third party arbiters enshrined in the treaty as well?"
Sly responds to Beri, "I think that would be a good idea, let's add it to the treaty."
Blade says to Restlin, "Also formally recognize the queen's offer to help in the construction of our own free city."

"Mercutio, I need your input on construction assistance. What is your kingdom willing to offer?"
Assuming he provides an answer, and the troopers accept, Restlin will include that decision on the document as well.
The requests for the right to arm themselves and avoid slavery and conscription are included as well.
He pauses before he enshrines their responsibilities to serve as arbiters between these two people to the end of their days. "We can certainly act as arbiters to a point, but I think there needs to be a limit. How about we agree to serve as non-binding arbiters for a period of five years?"
Zane (JCC) AC 37(31), CMB 25, CMD 32, HP 324/311, Blindsense 60' Character Wednesday October 23rd, 2019 8:11:36 PM "I'd recommend 15 years, that'll give them time to get their feet under themselves as a new combined civilization. That would be the extent of our Arbiter duties, but They could contact us or our Successors in the Consortium if they need help, but the Consortium would only give suggestions to both sides as a way to reach a solution. They would be a source of external advice, sort of like what they do for us, but most of the time when we ask, they just rephrase the question and let us answer our own questions...."
Fifteen years was a short amount of time as far as nations were concerned. As far as elves in general were concerned. But Restlin? Fifteen years would put him well into his thirties, and on route to his forties.
For not the first time, she wondered if there was something she could do to expand his short, but bright and vibrant life. At least if something came up, she could maybe leverage her House into trade with this realm.
It wasn't much for compensation, but it was the most she could get without feeling like she was shirking her responsibilities here. She would try for five though, before agreeing to 15.
"I think five years is significant. After all, patching up relations here might be a great way to involve junior dragon groups. Just the same way Valdor and his ilk are using us.. to handle things.. that they should probably be doing..."
Suddenly, Sesha is cross.

Beri nods towards Zane and Restlin. While I respect that you want to encourage them to work together, I get the impression that this won't meet their concerns, after all they just asked about our life span. Would it make more sense to say that we will be the arbiters, but have the addendum that a court system equally made up of both sides should be established within that time frame? That both encourages both sides to work together, but also addresses concerns stemming from the fragile trust that exits. Arbitration may not always be necessary, but knowing there is accountability behind these words will further strengthen the treaty, and give everyone confidence that the push for peace is being made in good faith.
As for how long our guarantee lasts, I will need to get approval but I believe the Dragon Consortium will always have someone willing to arbitrate even long after our mortal lives have passed.

Tink is still a little distracted by the legal document, terminology, and basically all of this negotiation stuff. When things are ready to be formalized she's certain she can find an Oathbound somewhere in the Pantheon temple back home to certify it all.
DM Mitch Thursday October 24th, 2019 8:14:38 AM Bosk explains what the Dragon Consortium is. Garret helps Garret with spelling, grammer, and penmanship. Wyarr isn’t so into writing things. Restlin documents the requested features and asks about limiting the arbiter clause to 5 years Zane suggests 15 years. Sesha prefers 5 years. Beri suggests they make it temporary while a court system is set up. Tink is distracted by the legal document.
Mercutio says to Restlin, “The queen is willing to offer construction / settlement assistance. On that she was quite clear as to the specific materials or the amount on that she did not say. If you would permit me to contact her royal highness on the plant she gave you I will get back to you in a moment.
Mercutio reaches out on the plant and you can kind of hear part of his conversation. “The skeletal troopers are asking for specifics regarding building their own city my liege. They want to know the type of building materials and amounts we will help them acquire.”
He pauses as if listening to something. “Ok, so that is enough of the material they desire to build a city that can house all the skeletal troopers and provide them with fortifications on par with that of the Crystal City.”
“Thank you for sorting that out your majesty.”
After ending the communication he says to Restlin and Blade, “That good enough for the treaty.”
Blade says to Restlin, “That is more than I had hoped. Yes. Quick right it down what is it they call you? Mage Priest is it? What an odd title” Wenzel says to Zane and Restlin, “Considering you are not as long lived 5 to 15 years seems like a fair amount of time to continue to serve as arbiters between our 2 people considering you are not of this land in the first place. If you are a part of a larger organization of your caliber than I would be okay dealing with any replacement they would send should you be unable to perform your duties during that time.”
Sly and Wilkins both agree, “Seems fair” they reply.
Wenzel says, “Well with that lads I think it is time to call another vote on our treaty and sending Skelter on his way to deal with the artifact. Aye”
Skelter looks at the others and says “Aye. Now let me away with this hungry little one and his friends.” (he indicates Garret) Sly looks at the others and says “Aye. The treaty spells out our right to keep and bear arms and not be anyone’s slave or conscript” Cujo says, “Aye, I agree with Sly” Blade says, “Aye. We will fortify our new home with walls of stone” Ouivel says, “Aye, but I get one of those council seats we negotiated” Wilkins says, “Aye and we finally have all we were looking for” Piper says, “Aye and I’m jealous that Skelter beat me to volunteering” Aeren says, “Aye and I’d like to know as soon as you can that the artifact has been destroyed.”

I'm so glad we were able to come to a peaceful solution that doesn't get anyone hurt. And those demons! SO GLAD we stepped in before their filth spread further, you know?"
He smiles warmly. "This is going to be a good day for all of us, I can tell." He waves everyone over to him. "Come on folks, group hug time. Tink does get a hold of the queen and she waves away the idea of them heading back. ”You’re report fills me with hope. Go with my blessing back to your home and accomplish your own task.”
With nothing keeping them there further the Dragon’s return home. The familiar swirl of the portal occurs and they find themselves back in the portal room. Waiting for them are all those gathered for the ritual; Dock, Uthras, the holy undead, Megaman, the strange undead/construct futuristic hybrid, and the Watcher, mysterious ancient construct. As long as Agatha is being discussed, Beri keeps his thoughts limited to being shared over their rings. Let's not play games with this one. When a god gives you a mission to complete and the enemy is knocking at the gate, you don't waste time. Let's buff, make sure our new allies know both how to reach the exits once the ritual is complete, and let's have a backup plan to keep them safe if they can't get out after the ritual, then let's make Gargul proud.
DM Mitch Tuesday November 5th, 2019 8:39:00 AM Garret wants breakfast first. Wyarr says there will be time later. Restlin tells Agatha they’re expected. Tink wants to suggest Agatha go fight the army on her own. Zane tells the others they’re not being very nice. Beri suggests they act quickly and proffesionally.
Before the team can head for the ritual room, one of the portal flashes and a seemingly half surface-drow steps out from it. The Half-Surface Drow is impeccably dressed in a white robe reminiscent of Restlin’s fancy getup though it is cut much differently. The drow also has a pendant in the shape of Serenbeth’s holy symbol around its neck.
It calls out to the group, “Don’t mind me folks. I come in peace. I’m just here to observe the saving of the world. It isn’t something that you get to see everyday and I was fortunate to find a ritual that would allow me to come here and observe. Think of me like Chuck, Aeren, or the Custodian. I’d aid you if I could but let’s just say I’m not qualified to given the strict parameters of the ritual.”

Megaman asks, “Shall we go to the ritual room?”
Agatha leads the way up in silence, either to concerned or to aware of the dislike from several members of the party to say much. They find themselves back in the room where they first fought the Death Dragon cult; no wonder they were set up there. The detritus of the battle has been cleared, along with many of the objects and living space, giving everyone a clear range of fire for the coming battle. With all of it gone the design on the floor is much more evident; an intricate pattern of arcane and divine runes swirling across the floor, the walls, even the ceiling - this room, the entirety of it, must be the lock, dormant, but no doubt impossible to crack without the powerful tools they’ve gathered. You might be standing on top of the prison even now.
The remnants of the cult are scattered about the room, moving things out of the way and otherwise preparing. Gealen and Sprocket approach, Sprocket going straight to Agatha’s side. The leader of the cult bows to the dragons deeply before speaking, ”We have done what we could to prepare the area. The enemy will know as soon as the ritual is started and throw everything they have at us. There will be no seige or climbing the tower; Marteous made his home here long enough to know it’s defenses and bypass them. Expect constant arrival of enemies from all sides. The longer we wait, the more forces they muster. Marteous himself shouldn’t make an appearance unless his followers fail; may the gods have mercy on us all if he comes early. Once the ritual is complete, should you let us, we will perform one of our own to empower our god and give him a chance to survive against his foe. All our hopes rest with you Iron Dragons. We will give our lives to see you succeed, and we pray that you will find it in your hearts to give our god the chance he deserves.”
Set up in the center are 5 unlit braziers arranged at 5 equidistant points. A large bowl of silver dust rests near the braziers and an aged tome with newer annotated pages alternating with aged one sits near the dust. There are torches within easy reaching distance of each unlit brazier.
The old tome has a diagram on one page of a number of lines connecting the 5 braziers to each other and what appears to be instructions for how to carry out the ritual that have been translated in some of the newer pages interspersed with the old. It would seem that the silver dust is needed to trace the rune patterns between the 5 braziers. Then someone starts reading from the incantation in the tome.
While that is going the brazier at each of the five points is lit in turn and the heart is either tossed into the fire or consumed by the ritual participant.
When each heart has been consumed by participant or fire and the incantation finished the ritual is considered to be complete.
It would appear the ritual still has some assembly required. (OOC: If you are drawing the lines in silver, make a spellcraft check)
Gealen answers any questions before moving off to arrange his forces in a defensive formation. Agatha stays behind to make one last plea to the party, “We did our best to try to get everything set up for you, but you and Marteus’s forces arrived before we could quite finish. The runes need to be drawn connecting the braziers and then the ritual can begin. I know we didn’t get off to the best start and maybe Kevintar wasn’t the best being in the past, but he has changed. Give him a chance to prove himself like another adventuring group gave Eberyon once upon a time when he woke from his slumber. He won’t let you down.”

Both skill checks are autopass.
The ring, the lineage, the undeniable fashion sense, the unmitigated gall to just show up and watch at a time like this? Many, many thoughts flutter through Restlin's mind, but this situation with Agatha means he doesn't have time to indulge them.
I mean...who do these people think they are? "Agatha. Sproket. Gealen. WE ARE ON A MISSION FROM GARGUL FOR PETE'S SAKE. Maybe, JUST MAYBE if you'd been honest from the start we wouldn't have to just trust you, or Kevintar. Maybe we could have had a chance to discuss all this with Gargul."
This is all made much more difficult by the fact that deep down, Restlin's got a hunch they're right. Something with Marteus wasn't adding up here. Why would his forces be trying to stop this ritual? Frankly, doing anything that involved being on the same side as Marteus didn't sit well with him, even if it was at Gargul's request.
Then there was the matter of Bosk being asked to disregard his god's orders. If the Iron Dragons had shown anything over the years, it was that they put their relationships with each other above everything else.
"Bosk, what's your call here, dude? You've got the most to lose if we get this wrong."

DM Mitch Wednesday November 6th, 2019 8:03:06 AM Restlin takes in the half-drow, a bunch of thoughts flying through his head, however he doesn’t have time to deal with the half-drow at this point and instead focuses on Agatha, Sprocket and Gaelen. He’s torn by how things went down with them contrasted with appearing to be on the same side as Marteus. Still though Bosk is a direct follower of Gargul so he asks Bosk his thoughts on the matter.
Garret concentrates on the friendlies so he can know who is on his side when things go down.
There is Dock, Megaman, Uthras, Skelter, The Watcher, The Custodian, Aeren, Chuck, the mysterious half-drow, Agatha, Sprocket, Gaelen and the rest of the survivors from Kevintar’s faithful. It would appear that Megaman, Uthras, Skelter, The Watcher, The Custodian, Aeren, and the cultists can probably handle themselves. Chuck and Dock are most likely non-combatants and might need some protecting. You don’t really know enough about the mysterious half-drow to know if they need help or not but by their own admission they came here seeking a show using powerful magic so they probably can handle themselves.
Sesha’s attention is drawn by the mysterious half-drow. In the drow tongue she asks who the mysterious half-drow is, drawing significance to the Serenbeth pendant and how it is the half-drow knew this point was significant.
The Half-Drow replies to Sesha in the same tongue, Highlight to display spoiler: {“I am a follower of Serenbeth as was my mother before me. As to why I knew today was important, well I grew up hearing stories of it, that made it sound too fantastic to be true from my father who had a penchant for exaggeration but was a good story teller nonetheless and just had to see with my own eyes if the tales were true. Luckily for me I can wield the type of magic that can accomplish this feat, unfortunately for me as I already stated I am merely a witness to what transpires here today, but I mean that is only fair because this isn’t my story, this is the story of the Iron Dragons.}
Zane surmising the same as Garret’s assessment asks the construct to be careful and then starts getting his preparations ready.
Dock makes the chiming noises at Zane indicating the affirmative.
Wyaar knocks and arrow and opines that he doesn’t serve Gargul but he opposes Marteus on principal but they have been given a mission and they should see to it.
Tink notices the half-drow, his pendant and his ring and asks who the half-drow is, welcoming aid, asking what they should call the half-drow when the battle starts. She then volunteers to start drawing the sigils using the silver powder.
The half-drow says to Tink, “Let’s just say I’m a big fan of all of you and if I could aid you I would but the ritual I used to get here was very strict about not altering the outcome, needless to say I can look after myself so you don’t have to worry about protecting me when everything goes down. As to what you can call me, call me Spectator, you already have a Watcher and a Custodian.”
Beri plans to summon 3 small earth elementals to use as scouts and a giant before turning into an air elemental himself. He asks Gaelen how long he thinks the ritual should take and why he expects enemies to show from all sides if they only have one entrance.
Gaelen says to Beri, “Remember, the Bonetower was once Marteus’s prison as well. If stopping the release of his brother is that important to Marteus then Marteus would do what he could to empower his followers to take shortcuts that might not necessarily be what you would call conventional. It will take several minutes to complete the ritual.” Bosk replies that Gargul trusts them to do what’s right so they should start the ritual and look after those that came with them.

Sesha eyes the boy, her gaze intense. She studies every part of him that she can commit to memory, and her mind is a good one.
"I pray to Serenbeth you stay safe, child of House Avon."
Sesha had an idea at least, in her mind, of who he might be. She was certain he knew exactly who she was. =----
She allows Restlin to lead her back to the ritual. She finds Agatha, and takes the Witches hands in her own.
"I feel like I've always understood you, Agatha. As best as one Witch can understand another. I still trust you, and pray you give me a reason to keep that faith. I have no trust for the Kevintaur, but no love for Martaeus."
She thinks for a moment.
"Our original position was that we would not interfere with your interference once Kevintaur was freed and forces arrayed against him. As long as it does not put me in conflict with my loved ones here, I am willing to adjust my stance to being more proactive. You've got my support, in exchange for your aid in finding a way to call back Serenbeth, when that time comes."

On Zane: Deathward, Stoneskin.
On Garret: Stoneskin.

Then she hands out some gear.
Tink: Potion of Heal Zane: Potion of Heal Restlin: Potion of Heal
Then she casts a Divination.
"Little Spirit, I think today I found a gift, perhaps from you. I've seen a thing, that I think maybe, is a reminder of why we do the things we do as Dragons. Is there any advice, my loving patroness, that you would impart upon your most faithful?"
She pauses.
"I seek to aid another Witch in her restoration of the Kevintaur. While he was a beast in his past, she swears to me that her dream is to see him reborn, where he can affect a new domain and be helpful to those who need him. While I honestly don't care one whit about him, I always seek any aid I can in your own restoration. Through him, or perhaps Agatha, I might come a step closer. If this thing I am to do repulses you, and you prefer that Martaeus re-slave the Kevintaur, I shall make your will my own."
(To DM: I am not looking for a scene breaker here. Anything is helpful. Perhaps advice on energy resistance, or perhaps the name of a couple of spells to use with Spell immunity?)

Taking a moment to catch her breath, Sesha considers her two summoned guardians, Alice and Hope.
She always felt a pang of regret when she looked at Alice. Headstrong and young, she had taken a doll made of a young girls flesh as a trophy from a dark and evil tomb. Tinkering with magic, she had unbound the soul of the child from the doll, and to herself by accident.Alice never complained, but also never spoke. She went about her tasks like a sulking, chastised child. Head down, tears in eyes, and shuffling quietly. Sesha suspected that every moment that Alice was in her corporeal form, she was in great pain. And of course, she hated herself for that. She would often sit among her strange menagerie of friends... her animated cauldron, her simulacrum, her ragdoll guardian, and her ghostly champion, and do what she could to make them feel loved. It was a strange family, but it was hers.
Hope was another story altogether. Given to her as an aid by Serenbeth, originally there were four spirits, all young drow priests murdered in the darkest times of her ancestors past. There was .. something.. that happened to the Witches of the wold, and next time she summoned them, they were one being. Sometimes, a different child held dominance and determined the physical appearance and personality of the ghost she summoned, but there was something of all of them in there now.
Both had served her often and well in her service to Serenbeth and the Dragons. She only hoped now they could serve her once again.
Sesha gives Hope her flaming, speed tear. It helped the Witchfire in combat greatly. She casts Unwilling Shield on Alice, feeling guilt again. Alice would share her pain, and help her in the battle to come.

I suppose we aren't exactly talking about normal mortal's abilities though, and the real effort would be spent on the lock itself.
Beri considers what he was told about the enemies and decides to summon a second storm giant prior to the start of the battle so that they will have more coverage. He also tells both of them to cast call lightning as the spell Call Lightning as soon as they arrive.

[b]Marteaus is not just any god. He has the knowledge of how each of the Cult Gods achieved Godhood and what it would take to remove any of them from godhood. He is made of Gargul's own essence and can elevate those he deems worth to godhood. He is not an easy one to keep out.[b]
As the ritual commences Bosk casts more spells. (Continue with those listed above, and if there is a jump forward he also casts air walk, fly, freedom of movement, and hide from undead)
DM Mitch Thursday November 7th, 2019 7:43:10 AM Zane suggests that Chuck should take cover and makes plans to protect the area where Dock will be. While doing this after he goes dragon mode he’ll give Dock his rods for safekeeping. Garret stands by Tink protecting her while she draws her lines Restlin finally gets to the mysterious half-drow “Spectator.” He makes a mental note to learn the drow language and cautions the kid on chronomancy while hoping the show was worth it. He then rejoins Sesha briefly before helping Tink finish the ritual silver lines.
The “Spectator” says to Restlin, “Well Chronomancy sure is restrictive that is for sure and being able to see you all like this is definitely worth it”
Wyaar keeps watch as things progress. Sesha prays to her patron the mysterious child of house Avon stays safe.
The “Spectator” bows to Sesha in response to her prayer for his safekeeping.
Sesha then approaches Agatha telling the other witch that she’s willing to not interfere in Agatha’s aiding of Kevintar as long as it doesn’t endanger her friends reminding her of their deal regarding help with Serenbeth.
Agatha squeezes Sesha’s hand and says, “Thank you. Though I serve Janiterri, Gaelen has convinced me that Kevintar has changed and through helping him return in a redeemed form we will be closer to bringing back some of the Serenbeth Sisters.”
She plans out her defenses both for herself and her companions going so far as to hand out some gear. She casts a divination explaining the situation as best she can regarding Kevintar, Agatha and Marteus. Her little spirit responds, “Trust your feelings. As to the upcoming battle perhaps be wary of Polar Rays, Firestorms, Disintegrates and Delayed Blast Fireballs” Sesha then summons Hope and Alice casting spells and giving them items too.
Tink finishes the lines closer to the tome while Restlin is able to get the ones farther out. She should be able to read from the tome should she wish when she finishes the lines.
Beri wonders why Gargul set this up in a manner where enemies could just be brought in and decides to shore up his own defenses with a second storm giant.
Bosk explains to Beri that Marteus is not some normal God having been constructed from Gargul’s own essence and having the knowledge to undo each cult God. He then also buffs his own defense.
Gaelen says, “Yes Marteus is formidable but so is Kevintar. They were once in balance of each other while they served Gargul’s desires before Gargul reformed in his own way. Kevintar like Gargul his father has seen the error of his ways and wishes to share with people who have experienced hardship that redemption can be had if you work at it. It’s interesting because it is almost like a balance on Marteus should Kevintar return successfully. Marteus wishes to shape his followers through the use of hardship and purging diseases applied externally while Kevintar seeks to help his followers really improve by changing things from the inside out, empowering them to realize the best version of themselves in their mind’s eye and manifest that outward. I wonder if Marteus is more threatened by Kevintar for old time’s sake or for the fact that what Kevintar now preaches is a sort of positive alternative to the path Marteus offers.”
With the ritual lines drawn the only thing left to do is get started. Is everyone prepared? (tip: enemies will come from all directions, you may want to spread out to cover the ritual from all sides like the Kevintar Cultists have)

After thanking Serenbeth, Sesha shares the information with the others. Pleased that once more, Little Spirit is in her corner, Sesha can't help but smile. Overlooking the defense plan, Sesha pulls a small cube out of her pocket, and sets in on the ground near the grand priest of Kevintaur.
"Woldsblood.", she says in her surface drow language.
The cube grows instantly, 20 feet square and 30 feet high, with arrow slits on all sides and a crenellated battlement atop it. The metal walls extend 10 feet into the ground, rooting it to the spot and preventing it from being tipped over. The fortress has a small door that opens only at the command of the owner of the fortress—a word which Sesha shares with everyone.
"Wyar, High Priest, Mage Priest, Megaman... anyone who primarily is a ranged fighter, this might be a good location for you. You can hide behind the slits and fight on the battlements. It should help you not get swarmed by enemies."
Sesha herself shapechanges, briefly taking the form of a raven, making her way into her tower tower, where she again resumes her natural form. She casts a couple more spells with her new knowledge, then waits for the chaos.

Beri agrees it makes sense to let Tink perform the ritual,
Dock pulls out some rope and ties the rod to his body as he is getting ready to do the ritual.
Wyaar protects himself against fire, cold, electricity and then tosses up a death ward. Restlin also wards himself against fire and cold before standing near Uthras and Megaman ready to kick some butt. Tink also protects herself against fire and ice before opting to turn invisible. She also throws up a shadow invocation of darkness making her teammates aware of this subterfuge. Sesha gives thanks to Serenbeth after sharing her divination results with the team. She then takes out a cube of Woldsblood and pops up a reinforced battlement suggesting the ranged fighters in the group take advantage of it. She shapechanges briefly to a raven on her way to the tower herself and then resumes her normal form casting more spells.
Megaman says “as soon as the ritual’s done I’ll advance to the tower. Agatha has figured out how to use something in her backpack so that I can use some of my weapons for a short period of time in this tower.” Gaelen says, “I’ll have myself, Agatha, Sprocket and the rest of our casters head there provided there is room”
Beri follows Restlin’s lead in warding himself against fire and cold. He then gives his giants orders on how to proceed while readying some lightning strikes of his own for when enemies appear.
(OOC: Yes they do the actual action part and praising part but there is some accompanying chanting that goes with their parts)
The lines are drawn. The Ritualists take their positions; the hearts are placed. Tink begins. Immediately the runes around the seal began to glow, a glow that quickly spreads throughout the room. Soon everything is brilliantly lit by the glowing runes, so tiny and numerous that they form a uniform glow from every centimeter of the room as the words of power from the ritual echo throughout the room. There’s no turning back now; everyone can feel the power emanating from the lock, power enough to easily obliterate the ritualists should they fail to breach it.
For a long minute nothing else happens. The Kevintar Cultists shift about anxiously awaiting the enemy. Only Gealen looks unruffled by the wait.
Then suddenly the room is full of enemies, appearing out of thin air in every direction. There is no cry, no order to attack, just swift, effeciate, and coordinated magical assault as they appear from nowhere.
The Knights all cast Meteor swarm - two fail, but the other 6 kill the remaining Kevintar warriors and monks. The Golems are unaffected, and the storm giants both die. Zane and Bosk must make 8 reflex saves vs DC 27; 36 damage for every fail, 18 for half on success.
The Archmages cast Polar Ray on Zane, Agatha, Bosk, and one of the Kevintar Preists. Only the priest is hit, it narrowly missing the other 3 (missed by 1 AC on all 3 XD)

ooc: did none of the readied actions complete before the giants were killed?
It might only be the first wave, but the sooner the ritual was secured, the better. In a hurry, Sesha doesn't bother messing around.
She begins by casting timestop, using her greater extend meta-magic wand, Sesha finds herself with an exceptional amount of time in which to act. As time slows to a crawl, she withdraws six vellum scrolls and arranges them before her.
As she begins chanting, the first scroll starts to glow, emitting soft blue light. Soon after she begins, it burns itself into ash, and the next scroll does the same. Two scrolls are read, and two great allies are summoned. Four scrolls remain.
"A bloodwitch is not constrained by the pettiness of good and evil, thus neither is my vengeance. You shall not interfere.", she whispers to her unmoving foes.
Sesha then reads the next four scrolls. With each ones completion, a tiny bead of orange energy is deposited near the archmage. They hovers there, waiting for time to snap back to reality. Sesha walks lightly to the archmage and whispers in his ear. "You picked the wrong target.", and in a flash, she is back to the instant fortress.
She looks over the crenelations, and watches with grim satisfaction as four explosions, backed by angelic and demonic fury, assail the trio of foes.
------------
(Roll result, 5 rounds. 10 rounds with the greater extend meta-magic rod. Sesha autopasses all the scroll checks, which are DC 29 vs her UMD of 36. I made the base d20 rolls just to be accurate. Also DM, I'm aware this is a strong trick, but Sesha can't do it again. It literally cost her about 120,000 gp to pull off. Plus, all her scrolls got used except 2 of her summon monster 9s.)
Reflex Save DC: 23 for half. 20ft radius blast will reach all 3 foes, and can be placed to avoid the Angel. The Demon doesn't care, since he's immune to fire.
Knowing that Alice is going to be key to Sesha's survival, Hope makes the ragdoll sevant invisible, using her spell like ability. It has no limit to the number of uses.
.Alice. (construct, DR5, FH2, Shield Other Sesha) Link

.Astral Deva. (protective aura, dr10/evil, uncanny dodge, DR 10/evil; Immune acid, cold, petrification; Resist electricity 10, fire 10; SR 25 - possibly holy aura) Link
Though displeased to be summoned alongside an ancient enemy, she cannot ignore the commands of her summoner. If any enemies survived the Fireballs, she will attack them. Otherwise, she will cast Holy Aura, affecting herself and the Ice Demon.
Attack if needed: Move and single attack hits AC 43 for 20 damage.
.Ice Devil. (regeneration 5, DR 10/good; Immune fire, cold, poison; Resist acid 10; SR 24 - possibly holy aura) Link
Unlike the Deva, the Ice Devil finds great glee that the Deva is being forced to assist it. Summoned into the middle of the enemies, as its immune to fire, it will full attack any surviving targets. If none exist, it will cast wall of ice, and shield itself and the Deva from line of sight and line of effect.
Ice Devil attacks if needed: Spear Hits AC 25 / 31 / and 20 for 22 (6 cold) 18 (5 cold) and 15 (1 cold) damage. Bite his AC 24 for 13 damage. Tail his AC 26 for 21 damage. (6 cold)
Any spear or tail hits cause a DC 23 fort save or be slowed for 1 round.

Tink keeps up the ritual. (OOC: you can take a swift action while participating but otherwise it takes a full round action to maneuver the book with its old script / notes ) Sesha uses timestop and summons some heavy artillery in the form of archons and devils before delayed blast fireballs. The fireballs completely wipe out the cluster of Knights and Archmage she targeted. Zane takes a bite at the nearest Archmage, missing completely. Restlin hunkers out of sight in Sesha’s tower and begins casting magic jar. Garret stands ready to protect Tink from projectiles. Beri starts summoning another Giant saving his lightning for the next time someone casts a spell. Bosk wonders if the enemy can see him before realizing most of the fireballs were just targeting near him and he got in the splash. The polar ray did target him, so presumably the archmage can see him. (both of these enemies are Neutral Evil, mages are elves knights are human)
Gaelen, Agatha and Sprocket all teleport inside of Sesha’s pop up tower.
The Iron Golems charge the eldritch knights and slam into them full force. The lesser priests spread out and cast repulsion to stall any enemy charges. The Greater Priests cast Implosion and start targeting the Archmages, but both make their saves.
The surviving knights cast spells (Spellcraft 24 Highlight to display spoiler: {Timestop}) emerging from their temporal bubble all flying and with mirror image duplicates. Some have floating shields of force.
The surviving archmages cast time stops of their own.
Archmage 1: 5 rounds - empowered delay blast fireball (Garret, Tink, Wyaar, Greater Kevintar Priest, Golem 9 + Golem 7) 93 damage; DC 26 for half, delayed blast fireball (Garret, Tink, Wyaar, Greater Kevintar Priest, Golem 9 + Golem 7) 75 damage; DC 26; reverse gravity (Garret, Tink, Wyaar, Greater Kevintar Priest, Golem 9 + Golem 7) DC 26; Wall of Force - between Sesha’s Tower and the arch mage. Prismatic Wall protecting himself; Shield protecting himself Archmage 2: 3 rounds - empowered delay blast fireball (1, 2, 3 - lesser priests), golems 4 and 5 - 97 damage; DC 26; delay blast fireball (1, 2, 3 - lesser priests), golems 4 and 5 - 70 damage; DC 26; prismatic wall protecting himself Archmage 3: 2 rounds empowered delay blast fireball (zane) DC 26 - 106 damage; Delay blast fireball (zane) DC 26 69 damage
The room and the ritual are fully started now. The entire thing thrums with energy and the chants of the participants rise over the battle. The first heart is ritually sacrificed.
Surrounding the ritual area the air seems to swirl and twist as more enemies magically appear to assault the defenders, three sets of heavily armored warriors wielding great bows with deadly precision. Two see through Tink’s Shadow Evocation and target her. Four arrows find their mark (how many can Garret catch? 27, 21, 22, 21 damage, minus whatever Garret catches).
The others target the Iron Golems tearing up their kight allies, destroying one and taking another to it’s last legs.

There's really not a lot Tink can do but try and brace herself for the hits. This ritual has to be done. That's all there is to it.
If things start to get really serious though she's happy to tap out and pass it over to someone else.

Wyar kills an archmage and destroys 2 mirror images on a knight (the yellow fields are repulsion, not reverse gravity) Garret punches an archmage, but they make the save. Restlin tries to take over an enemy (you just said northeast corner, so I rolled a d3 and got the 3rd enemy, knight 4). He succeeds and finds himself in the body of a martial master of magic. (he is now black and marked Rk for Restlin Knight) Zane tears into an eldritch knight but gets mostly mirror images, destroying 3 and hitting once Sesha goes dragon and flies out to fight with her summons (put results of saves with enemy actions) Beri summons another giant which destroys 3 mirror images (enemy AC on the bottom so you can see if you attacks hit) Bosk takes a round to buff (the archmage you were attacking died)
The ritual proceeds at a good pace. The second heart is burned. The whole room rumbles and shifts; the ceiling starts to open, cracks forming lines across it, letting in sunlight from outside.
The magical disturbance in the air increases, shedding a sickly brownish light over the outer area of the room where Marteous’s followers are arriving. Small vermin start to appear, rats, roaches, worms. More appear, Mages and Tested and join the assault.
Sprocket casts disintegrate at the wall of force automatically destroying it. Agatha casts disintegrate at the remaining archmage using her theurge ability to combine it with truestrike cast as a level 2 witch’s spell. Her ray strikes true and the last archmage was turned to a pile of dust. Gaelen uses the mother of all curses against eldritch knight 1 using baleful polymorph, suffocation and irresistable dance. The knight fails with his lowest save and turns into a dancing, suffocating toad.
Eldritch Knight 1 is a suffocating dancing toad. Eldritch Knight 2 takes a 5 foot step then casts a quickened phantasmal killer following up with disintegrate against Zane. (Zane - phantasmal killer = DC 22 will save; followed by DC 22 fort save; Disintegrate = 29 vs AC; miss)
Eldritch Knight 3 - takes 5 foot step towards golem 6 and makes a full attack missing on all accounts.
Eldritch Knight 5 takes a 5 foot step back and then fires disintegrate at Beri (33 vs touch; DC 24 fort save - failure = 134 damage; success = only 17 damage) Eldritch Knight 6 takes a 5 foot step back and fires his own disintegrate at Beri (37 = nat 20 vs touch ; 26 vs touch to confirm critical = DC 24 fort save; failure = 241 damage; success = only 42 damage)
Archmage 5 casts Finger of Death against Zane. The dragon must make a DC 26 fort save or take 200 points of damage, if saved only takes 31 damage)
Archmage 6 uses greater dispel magic against Sesha targetting 5 effects on the Bloodwitch. (Dispel rolls = 24,40,30,40,26 = CL 13, 29, 19, 29, 15 = 2 effects dispelled starting with highest caster level and going down)
Tested 1 & 2 make their will saves but only 1 makes the reflex save. They activate their boots and rain arrows on Sesha the Dragon, doing 83 damage to her (I did roll for the 20% miss chance and their +5 bows trump your DR)
Tested 3 & 4 make all of their saves. In an instant their bows disappear and shields appear, which start dancing around them, before they draw greatswords, tearing into the summons. The Astral Deva is crit with all 4 attacks and is torn asunder. The Ice Devil fairs better and is only crit once and brought to 2 hp.
Tested 5 & 6 turn their gazes on the enemy archer Wyar, who doesn’t have cover against their angle of attack. He gets hit 6 times (well 4, but double hit from first arrows) for 154 damage.
The new tested target the lesser and greater priests, killing two lesser and damaging two greater.
The Iron Golems continue their attack, though this time the DM remembers the mirror images and they do less damage.
Lesser priest 2 adds his repulsion to the others, fully surrounding the ritual sight with the defensive fields. The two greater priests continue their implosion efforts. This time one of the archmages fails and instantly dies.

Bosk temporarily leaves the fight to heal Wyaar and buff himself.

The third heart is burned. The roof fully opens, sending a blinding ray of sunlight down on those doing the ritual. It seems focused at the center on the center of the ritual area and, presumably, the lock.
At the edges of the room the distorted, brown light starts to swirl and twist. Vermin now appear in great numbers, forming a carpet of worms and insects near the walls while mice and rats scramble to hide under discarded furniture.

Eldritch knight Restlin opens his arms wide and embraces all the fireballs, taking full damage from each of them. At 357 damage, the knight is probably dead.
Before he dies, he scopes out the battlefield. He spies a group of tested just north of the ritual area. He attempts to take over one of them.
Will Save DC is 38.

With all the starting and stoppage of time, Sesha wasn't quite sure how long had passed anymore. Still, this was high level arcane combat, and it was something she she had been trained for by her many teachers. Larien, her mentor in Ust Delmah. Talia, her teammate in Bryn Baraz. Restlin, her soon to be husband. All of these people had taught Sesha how wizards fight, and what to expect in these sorts of battles. She wasn't about to let them down now.
A surge of fireballs erupt around her, but the scales of her Brass Dragon form keep her safe, for now. She silently thanked Serenbeth for the warnings vs Fire and Ice.
There was so much left to be done. She had to hold down this corner, protect Agatha and the priests, and hold her own for the ritual. But there was such an overwhelming influx of enemies to the north east...
Sesha, Draconic focuses her magic power into a glowing blue sphere, and send its through the heavens. It pierces the sky, inviting down a ruddy, red rain on those below. This thing she did.. it was the most powerful manipulation of Woldsblood she could manage. She felt no remorse, as needs must be fulfilled.
All in the area of affect (Archmage 9, 10. Tested 7, 8, 9, 10) must make a will save, DC 10+Hit Dice. Failure = Dazed and d3 wis and con damage. Must save every round in the rain. Those in rain get partial cover. Constructs, demons, devils and fey are unaffected. Dazed = no actions, but not helpless.
That handled, She streaks across the field, (fly check 31 vs dc 22) hovering to stare down the archmages. She inhales, then breathes a line of fire once more. It catches both Archmages 11 and 12, as well as Tested 3. (100ft line of fire, 49 damage. Reflex DC 30 for half)
She casts a final spell, forces it really, quickening past the usual requirements and manifesting the magic to her whim. The effects of a Blink spell take hold, and Sesha begins to stutter between realities. She snarls at her dominated Archmage.
"Use your magic to destroy my enemies, and you shall be rewarded. The tested are your first priority, followed by the mages."

Garret blinks as the area around him explodes in fire and lightning. He looks down and notices that the fire burned his last piece of saved up bread, but also nicely toasted some of his leftover meat-on-a-stick. The light from the split roof focuses in the center of the ritualists. The magic of the ritual seems to focus it in to a burning beam of enormous power that begins to melt through the floor. The runes, previously glowing a pure white light, start to turn golden in a slow wave through the room. The fourth heart is burned.
At the edges of the room the vermin squirm and writhe in agitation. The worms start together and form into several figures that assault the party with powerful magics!
