The Journey

DM Carl - So, now what?
Saturday December 7th, 2019 10:09:59 AM

Fang and Bralin haven't picked up the finer points of sailing, but know how to stay out of the way and watch. They help out below deck.

Rill approves of Tula using her funds to pay the men in advance, even paying them double. She smiles and gives a quick salute.

Sense motive, DC 15, Highlight to display spoiler: {The crew aren't the only ones looking forward to the Chancers Invitational, it seems.}

Tahni, Aexana, and Terser also aren't sailors, it seems. Your DM has vastly overestimated the group's collective sailing abilities. Good thing they have a competent crew!

Speaking of the crew, they are in uniquely high spirits. All hints of grumbling about sudden, long journeys have vanished, replaced by the fact that they're all on their way to one of the Wold's biggest parties of the year with pocket fulls of coin. They sing, they dance, they are down right hospitable to your needs during the 4+ week journey to Dragons Bay.

At about week two, Aexana is swimming as a dolphin. She rides the Lionfish's wake as the sounds of the crewmen's singing filters down through the decks into the water. It's a calm, peaceful day when she spies a small underwater settlement on a plateau rising up from the ocean floor's depth. Simple buildings and a small, open area in the middle for gathering have been crafted from coral. From this distance, she has a hunch someone's guided the coral's growth for decades to produce them, rather than carved them from existing coral.

Six nereids sit around in the common area of the settlement, talking and playing without a care. When the sounds of the sailors' songs reach them, they smile and start swimming towards the ship. They are not paying Aexana any care.

Aexana only:

Knowledge nature autopasses for you. You know everything about nereids listed here.

Fang is doing her best to learn the sea shanties of the sailors. She's not that great at picking up lyrics but the songs are pretty easy to learn and after two weeks she's belting them out with the rest, her tiny size hiding a powerful set of lungs.

Jozhur
Saturday December 7th, 2019 12:51:48 PM

Jozhur is happy to see the crew in such high spirits. He's grown to like sailing, and the crew being so happy makes it that much more enjoyable.

Jozhur is so happy he even joins in on the sea shanties this time, though everyone else probably wishes he wouldn't do that.

Tahni tries to spend a little time in the galley (another one of the words she knows!). She wants to get some ideas on how to improve her cooking. If someone can cook good meals at sea then she has no excuse not to be able to at home.

Bralin - MikeK - (AC40 T16 F35, HP 251/251)
Sunday December 8th, 2019 5:07:20 PM

Bralin spends as much time below deck as he can.

It's dark, it's wet, it's cramped. In other words, it's a cave.

Bralin also attempts to pitch in with the singing. The dwarf has a bone-rattling bass which sounds good enough in present company. The crew sets to teaching him a harmonization line.

Depending on the needs of the ship and crew, Rill spends much of his time in prayer and contemplation, either above or below deck, seeking Gargul's guidance on what should be done in the weeks ahead.

Even though he has been told that worse things will come to the Wold if the Sea Dragons do not attend this Chancellor's Club party, it still bothers him a bit that the group has been raised to the Dragon Consortium and yet we are heading off to what outwardly seems like a frivolous event.
