OOC: I screwed up my last post and entered the wrong to-hit numbers. Should have been:

Hit AC 44 for 30 damage
Hit AC 41 for 21 damage
Hit AC 40 for 22 damage

Understand if you don't feel like ret-conning, though.

Restlin continues to be not too worried about his body. He presses his attacks against Tested8.

Hit AC 45 for 25
Hit AC 42 for 30
Hit AC 35 - miss

Restlin makes no effort to dodge any attacks; treat any attacks against his borrowed body as flat-footed.

Two extremely lucky attacks manage to pass through Beri's earth elemental and somehow find their way to hit the druid despite a lack of line of site from either of them that he had been very diligent about maintaining, thankfully the first has no affect but the druid feels a massive reduction to his power.

Bosk, I have no idea how they managed to do it, but they seem to have negated a third of my levels... anything you can do about this?

Beri adjusts his height and makes sure the the second elder earth elemental further makes it impossible for the attackers to have a line of sight on him.

Sesha uses a leached polar ray against 2 worms and an archmage. One of the worms saves but the other 2 targets take full damage.

Archmage 6 follows Sesha’s commands. Each worm fails one save but makes the other.

Hope continues to blast Tested 1 with Witchfire

Zane attacks Worm 3 only landing a single blow.
Restlin continues to use his borrowed body against Tested 8.
Wyaar launches arrows at Worm 2 slaying it with the first 2 then moves onto Tested 5 slaying him as well.
Garret uses abundant step to get to Tested 7 and lays into it.
Tink finishes reading as the ritual ends wary of what comes next.
Beri gets hit by the draining ray and then asks Bosk for help. He has his earth elemental attack once and then defend again. One elemental strikes 5 and one misses 6.
Bosk casts greater restoration followed by a heroically casted death ward targeting Beri.

The final words of the ritual are said. The golden glow spreading through the room speeds up as the climax is reached until the entire room is bathed in a blinding golden light. The beam of sunlight that was burrowing into the floor intensifies before a wave of energy and light expands outwards engulfing all of the combatants, blinding them.

As everyone’s vision returns they feel a soft breeze. The walls and ceiling of the room are gone, obliterated by the wave of energy and the destruction of the lock. They now stand in the open air, atop a spire towards the top of Bone Tower.

A miasma of green noxious smoke comes streaming in from on high and then condenses into the form of Marteus. (OOC: If anyone gets too close (20 feet of the ritual area) to the chief god of testing they must make a DC 35 fort save or be wracked with a coughing fit / nausea for 5 rounds)

Marteus says, “Little brother I never thought I’d see you again. Time for me to put you out of my sight for good. You should have remained in your cage.”

To The Iron Dragons he says, “Normally I’d end you but you did me a favor in hastening the escape of my brother. Leave now. Don’t make me change my mind.”

The dust clears from the ruins of the cage and out steps an aged but spry looking bald man in gray robes. He exudes calm and serenity -- perfect, sublime serenity. He takes a confident bow and says to Marteus, “My imprisonment has taught me a discipline I could never have attained as the enforcer I used to be. You should be proud brother for I have faced my own personal testing and come out much stronger for it. Though this self actualization was a focus of my inner self while you seem to be more of a blunt instrument favoring crude external forces to shape your clay. Care to test your old ways against my new ones? We can see who is the superior brother once and for all. Isn’t that what you are really afraid of and why you had to rush over here? That I could defeat you and my ways of building my followers up by teaching them to plumb the depths of their inner strengths would rob you of followers of your own? For who would willingly subject themselves to brutality if enlightenment was at hand?”

Marteus snears in response. “Enlightenment? Self actualization? Foolish weakness, easily washed away by the harshness of reality. Only those that face true suffering can truly grow and master themselves. You’re solitude has left you weak and easily crushed brother despite your fancy words. You should have stayed in your prison.”

The two gods begin to circle each other, gazes locked. With each step the rise higher, yet everyone can see them just as clearly as if they were standing right next to them. Soon their high above, gathering their power for the coming clash.

The surviving cultists of Kevintar look to the dragons. ”He’ll never survive without our help. We’ll start a ritual to empower him and give him a chance. Our lives are in your hands; there are too few of us to do both our ritual and hold off Marteous’ men.”

Marteous’s followers indeed seem quite intent on slaughtering the remaining Kevintar cultists, but they seem to be waiting to see if the Iron Dragons take their gods offer to walk away.

"It was Gargul that initially told us to let Kevintar and Marteus fight it out. In His words 'If Kevintar escapes, another Year of Ascension will occur.' True, later he said he trusted us to do what is best. Are we willing to risk the entire Wold on it? Has Kevintar reformed?"

True to her nature, Tink wants to overthink things (over-Tink?)

"Can anyone detect evil on him, or have a divination spell up their sleeve?"

There are two ways she can see this going down: fight the Marteus followers AND the Kevintar followers, or, align with the Kevintar followers against the Marteus followers.

Either way, the Marteus followers are a target and Tink is ready to join the fight.

Zane takes a moment to think about what to do before playing with the worm that walks he was fighting and misses each time.
Restlin really doesn’t like Agatha, he can list her numerous faults forwards and backwards and yet he would still stand with a hundred of her versus Marteus and his followers. Unfortunately Restlin can’t use his spells so he continues to fight Tested 8 some more. He strikes twice in vulnerable areas but it keeps standing.
Garret watches in amazement as the brother Gods start to square off and then flurries at the tested he was fighting again. He slays 7.
Wyaar uses another smite against 5 dropping this worm like he dropped the second one last round. He moves on to worm 6 but it remains standing.
Sesha delays a moment to incinerate 2 archmages with her dragon fire after hope hits one with witchfire. Her dominated archmage hits its brethren with a meteor swarm finishing off the fire vulnerable one.
Beri starts calling forth another storm giant while his elder elementals rip into the worm before them. Only a single attack lands.
His Storm Giants move into position and ready their bows.
Tink dips into her spells figuring that Marteus is the bigger threat.
She casts timestop then casts greater invisibility, moves, summons some celestial T-Rexes and Ghaele Azatas before retrieving the staff of burning. The Azatas cast death ward on her friends. The T-Rexes try to grapple Tested 10 and Worm that walks 2 but neither is grappled because Worm that walks 2 is dead.

Agatha, Gealen, Sproket, and the two other high level priests move into the ritual area just used to release the lock and begin their own ritual.

Dock, The Watcher, Chuck and the Custodian move behind cover (insert individual actions for them/pithy comments from them here)

Dock makes his trademarked tinkling sounds from behind the barrier.
(Zane Highlight to display spoiler: { You guys see to the battle, we’ll take cover here})
The Custodian is silent
Chuck says, “I need to be able to see everything! This is going to make for one heck of a comeback novel.”

Uthras moves out to support Zane and Garret with a “For the Dead King!’ warcry.
Megaman pulls out his rocket launcher but hesitates, unable to find a target that doesn’t already have friendlies right next to it.
Skelter and Aeren take cover and pull out ranged weapons. They pepper Worm 1 with arrows and bolts and finishing it off.

The iron golems, no longer able to reach the archmages, move to the walking worms. They manage to finish off a badly wounded one.

The knights are all dead.
Archmage 8 flies into the air out of the reach of golem and then casts greater dispel magic on the Archmage dominated by Sesha. (24 on CL check = fail)
Archmage 10 flies out of the range of the golems and then tries to cast dispel magic on the TRex but fails to overcome Tink’s CL.
Archmage 12 flies out of the range of the golems and then teleports to be near Archmage 10
Worm 1 casts banishment targetting Beri’s elementals. They must make DC 25 will saves or be banished.
Worm 3 casts banishment against Agatha’s Marid. Agatha’s Marid is dispelled
Worm 4 casts true seeing on himself.
Worm 6 casts heal on itself recovering all the damage

Tested 3, who the DM totally forgot existed, exits the ice cloud he was hidden in refreshed from his nap.

Tested 8 and 10 attack the possessed Tested controlled by Restlin with sword and bow, killing him (Tested 10 avoids being grappled with his CMD 45)

High above the gods continue to pace each other. The elements around them seem to react to their tension and movements, clouds darkening and beginning to swirl about them, the wind howling. Marteas strikes first, suddenly shooting out a bolt of greenish, sickly energy that Kevintar barely manages to dodge. He grimaces and rubs his shoulder where he was clipped; Marteas smiles, pleased at getting first blood drawn.

Even if it's not his body, being stabbed sucks. Restlin's not so tough that he can just laugh off being killed. He grins through gritted teeth as the body he's in dies.

"In a few minutes, I'm going to stop toying with you chumps, and you're going to wish to that idiot god up there you worship that I'd taken you instead."

..and just like that, he's back in the soul gem. Restlin tries to take over a body in the NE corner of the map, figuring that the Tested and Archmagi up there will be easy to differentiate from the dinosaurs.

Will save to avoid Restlin's mind jar attempt is 22. Poop.

Considering her soon to be husband, trapped under rubble, dying in a foreign body, and still threatening their enemies, Sesha can't help but giggle. Well, perhaps it would have been a giggle. In her draconic form, it was more of a cough or a wheeze.

Sesha waits for Tinks T-rex to grab an archmage. Whichever one is left ungrabbed, becomes the target of her focused curse of suffocation.

Archmage must make a fortitude save, DC 29. If success, staggered. If fails, he begins suffocating and falls unconscious, rendered to 0 hp. If he fails the same save next round, he drops to -1 and is dying. If he fails the next round, he dies.

Bosk shakes his head. It appears his role is less combative this battle. Getting as close to the ritualists as he can he brings them into his Dark Walk to grant them extra protection (both by magic circle and Dark Walk). He quickly explains it to them and asks them how deep he should go so it doesn't interfere with their spell and calls the others to him. (I rolled high enough that 12 people can come with me). He then casts a quickened CCW on lesser priest 2 (assuming I am correct and he is on our side)

At 2nd level, the grim can partly enter the Realm of Shadows, gaining concealment, a 20% miss chance, a +2 resistance bonus to saves, and a +8 bonus to Stealth checks.
At 4th level, the grim can fully enter the Realm of Shadow and can then see but not affect those who remain in the Wold. This is treated as Etherealness.
At 6th level, the grim can fully enter the Realm of Shadow and also affect those who remain in the Wold. This is treated as Incorporeality.

Restlin tries to get a new possessed host but the save is made and he’s stuck in his own body under rubble.
Tink northward to take on one of the other archmages. The 2 Ghaele Azatas turn invisible and then try to get better angles. Her T-Rex 1 tries to grab Tested 10, T-rex 2 heads towards the archmages and tries to grab one of them.

Tink casts Finger of Death at Archmage 12 but it resists (OOC: rolled 27) taking the lesser damage
T-Rex 1 fails to get a hold of Tested 10 (Spellcraft 22 Highlight to display spoiler: { appears to be under a Freedom of Movement effect})
T-Rex 2 jumps up at Arch Mage 12 who hovers just of it’s reach. The Archmage sticks his tongue out at it

Zane attacks worm 3 some more.

Sesha sees Tink’s T-Rex struggle to grab an archmage and fires off a focused curse of suffocation at the one that stuck it’s tongue out. Archmage 12 fails the saves and starts choking on his tongue.
The dominated archmage casts 2 barrages at Tested 8. Despite the brutal amount of damage the Orc has sustained it remains standing.
Hope hits that same tested with one bolt of witch fire finally finishing it off.

Wyaar flies a little higher to get a view of the battlefield.

Bosk takes the ritualists with him on a shadow walk as their ritual seems to be streaming energy to Kevintar. He then heals one of the lesser priests.

(OOC: Turn order is PC’s; enemy NPCs; friendly NPCs. The worm was killed by a friendly NPC so the worm still got its turn; elementals could be banished; however the disjunction kind of makes that question moot doesn’t it?)
Beri regains a 9th level spell using his pearl of power. He then tries to summon another Storm Giant. His surviving elemental and his giant team up against worm 6. The elemental misses. The storm giant hits with its first sword swing but the latter 2 are turned aside by the Worm’s weird nature.

Despite the godly battle above it seems Marteas has the attention to spare to notice the Dragons have not taken his gracious offer to leave. His voice fills the area, not shouting but low and sinister. ”If you will not leave then accept these fine gifts of my most tested warriors.”

Everyone has a Tested teleported on top of them with flight and haste that full attacks them.

Zane is hit twice for 54 damage.
Garret also takes two hits for 55 damage.
Sesha is hit thrice for 84 damage
Tink is hit once despite her invisibility and takes 23 damage.
An armored figure stands over Restlin’s empty body. With a grunt the orc kicks aside the remaining rubble, freeing him. ”Stand and face your final test Dragon.”
Bosk is crit twice and hit a third time despite his invisibility (ghost touch weapon ignores your blink and incorporealness) for 118 damage
Wyarr is hit 4 times, two of them crits, for 138 damage
Beri is also hit 4 times, two of them crits, and takes 150 damage.

Tested 3 heavily damages an iron golem.
Tested 10 does 118 damage to TR 1

Archmage 10 casts suffocation at TR1. It must make a DC 24 Fort Save or start choking. If fails next round it must make a second 24 fort save or fall unconscious and start dying.
Archmage 12 is choking and can’t do anything else
Worm that Walks 3 uses a heal spell to fully recover lost health.
Worm that Walks 6 casts a Mage’s Disjunction targeting the area containing the 2 summons bearing down on it. The summon spells end meaning both the Giant and the Elemental are sent packing.

Uthras runs over to give Garret flanking and hit the Tested attacking him.
Megaman switches to melee and run to help Wyarr.
The two skeletons continue their ranged assault, also on the one attacking Wyarr.

High above, Marteaus quickly follows up his magical strike with another, but this time Kevintar is able to deflect it. He seems to be standing taller, stronger; the ritual is working! Marteaus snarls and prepares another strike while Kevintar stands defensively, waiting for his power to build. The swirling clouds darken and thicken, a storm brewing with the god above as the eye of it.

What a nice fellow! I mean, Restlin was just going to dimension door out from under the rubble, but this chap just let him go. Sure, the Tested dude meant to kill him, but he aimed to do so honorably. That counts for something in this world.

Restlin didn't have any problems using cheap shots against bad guys, though.

Still tucked safely away in the soul gem, the only body he can really detect with certainty is his own. Suddenly, though, there was a really powerful soul standing over him. Restlin targets the new enemy and tries to force himself into its mind.

Saves owed to DM: None.

Bookkeeping: Tested 13 ended his turn in Sesha's Cloak of Dreams and owes her a save vs DC 28 or fall asleep! The suffocating Archmage is now dying at -1. If he saves next round, he goes to unconscious at 0. If he fails, he dies.

Sesha screeches, furious that the new tested has suddenly appeared so close! She feels his wounds, but half of them are transfered to Alice, who moans loudly, clearly in pain.

"You dare!?", she challenges aloud. "KNOW YOUR PLACE, SERVANT!"

--IF THE TESTED STAYS AWAKE FROM HER AURA--

Using her greater headband, Sesha automatically passes her concentration test to cast defensively, then casts Dominate Person on the Tested 13, (DC 28 or be dominated) before flying through his range (and drawing an AOO probably) to her fortress, hiding behind a crenllation, and taking the form of a tiny magical beast. (Would have full concealment behind the walls.) AC would be 40 if he managed to get line of sight to her.

IF THE TESTED FALLS ASLEEP AT THE END OF HIS TURN

Sesha will instead move near Wyar, use spectral hand and Cure Critical Wounds to heal him for 45, and cause Tested 15 to save vs sleep when his turn starts.

Tink takes a step back from the Tested that just appeared and unloads a charge from her Staff of Burning directly at it.

Ghaele Azata 1 no longer has any targets to the south, so turns back north. Both Azatas target the Tested that has appeared beside Tink with Searing Light spells.

T-Rex 1 takes a big hit, but manages to avoid suffocating to death. It is staggered by the spell and bites at the air in response

T-Rex 2 isn't happy about not being able to reach the Archmages. It looks about and can see that this new Tested is in reach. It turns and tries to attack it, missing once more.

These T-Rexs are having a bad day.

Bosk is upset that the tested need to use so many cheap tricks with their god putting them in the perfect position and making their weapons appear and disappear.

Actions Full Attack Tested
Given that only my first round attacks and extra attack from haste can possibly hit him short of a natural 20, Bosk will instead use the remaining attacks to destroy his armor, shield and weapons (or if an item appears to be storing his weapons start by attacking this. Note that You don’t use an opposed attack roll to damage a carried or worn object. Instead, just make an attack roll against the object’s AC. ).

Bosk then takes a 5 ft step to the west and up in the air to hide his location from the tested.

Bosk is surprised when the Tested appears in his midst. While the Tested seem well prepared The Grim Avenger thinks that he is more so.
Wyaar uses a swift lay upon hands to recover a little and then fires point blankly at the Tested.
Restlin takes a moment to reflect upon the honor the Tested standing over his empty body exhibited before attempting to take over its body. (OOC: The Tested rolls a 21) The Tested fails to resist and Restlin now has a new body.(OOC: naming it RPT)
Sesha is incensed at the Tested in her midst. Alice cries out in pain as she takes the damage. The Tested resists the cloak of dreams (Will Save 33) so Sesha attempts to dominate but that too fails so she moves behind her fortress and changes shape. The attack of opportunity she draws from the tested as she moves fails to hit.
Hope and the Archmage Sesha is dominating gang up on Tested 11 but it remains standing.
Zane attacks Tested 12 hitting 3 times. He sends a warning out to his friends that he has lost a third of his health.
Beri has his storm giant show up asking it to buy him some time before retreating to the safety of Sesha’s fortress letting the team know his moves over the rings. The giant misses on all 3 attacks.

Kevintar’s Faithful continue their ritual.

High above Marteaus seems to realize that he needs to win quickly before Kevintar is empowered enough to stand against him. He fires another series of magical bolts and charges his adversary summoning a black Scythe to his hand that he swings with power and grace. Kevintar is able to deflect a few more bolts but is struck by others. The scythe clips him twice, leaving blackened wounds. He cries out in pain, in trouble but not down yet. Below his followers intensify their efforts.

The last few had failed their will against her so easily...and now they were all resisting. These Tested were tougher than she liked. She felt more of Alices life for leave, taking damage meant for Sesha. It was necessary, but made her feel terrible.

She hears Bosks request for everyone to gather. She didn't like the idea of them all in one area for enemy spells, but healing was necessary too. She reassumes her Dragon forme, now that the breath weapon is ready, and burns a line of fire down through Tested 11.

Bosk curses under his breath as half the group flees to the fortress while leaving Wyaar behind....but seeing as the human took his advise and told death he wasn't ready to die just yet, the cleric of life and death fulfills his promise, even if catches fewer Iron Dragons in his healing spell as he would like. Bosk digs deep and prays to his god (uses a hero point) to cast a spell normally outside his ability...but if Marteaus can aid his followers Gargul can aid the Iron Dragons. Calling forth increased healing power he heals Kevintar's priests 1&2, lesser priest 2 Wyaar and RPT (assuming they are all on our side and W=Wyaar) for 200HP and curing them of most negative conditions. Next he casts a quickened divine favor on himself.

He then takes a 5ft step up and east to hide his location.

High above the battle Marteus and Kevintar continue to square off. Kevintar is starting to be enshrined in a golden aura and his wounds are starting to heal. It would appear the ritual might be finally taking effect.
Marteaus attacks! Kevintar is the willow in the wind, and dodges or deflects every attack. He never attacks back. Bolts of sickly green energy blow huge chunks out of the tower below Kevintar where they are redirected as Kevintar bats some away with the back of his hand. Marteus brings his scythe to bear as well and Kevintar is always just out of reach of the wicked blade. In some cases moving so fast he appears to teleport out of its path. Perhaps the tide is starting to turn...

Restlin is done being in any body but his own, but he can't very well let this brute he's taken over run amok. Although...he was really close to Agatha...

No, that's not very heroic of him. He puts a plan into action, hoping it pans out. He books it over to those rune golems, dropping his greatsword, short sword, shield, bow, and any other weapons he can find on him while he runs. He pops back into his body, then instantly starts casting time stop, hoping that dumb orc won't have time to react. He nails it.

Press your luck: 11 - I choose an extra standard action. Time stop = 1d4+4 = 7 rounds

He breathes a sigh of relief, then gets to work.

He moseys back to Sesha, casually leans against the building next to her, and waits as time catches up. "Hey love. Miss me?" he asks as his summons do their thing.

"There's a very good chance Mage-Priest, that neither of us will ever feel more alive than we do right now! Burn it into your mind, your heart, and never forget it. I've centuries to live, and I may never top this moment!"

Restlin dumps his borrowed body and time stops for some summoning fun.
Garret remembers he exists and hits someone (I totally tried to kill you last round but everyone rolled poorly XD)
Wyarr thanks his friends for the healing and shoots an arrow.
Zane gets in position to haste and try something new.
Sesha is feeling very lively at the moment and shares it with Restlin before going back into battle.
Beri finishes summoning and starts another.
Bosk attacks and sunders a tested.
Tink's summons bombard the battlefield.

Marteus continues to go all out in attacking Kevintar with his scythe and energy beams. Kevintar ducks, dodges, weaves and deflects. No matter what Marteaus does he just cannot touch Kevintar. In frustration, Marteaus charges and...Kevintar paralyzes him with a touch. Marteaus is immobile on the ground.

Kevintar walks over to his immobilized brother and says, “You shouldn’t have underestimated the path of enlightenment and self-actualization.” He bends down and claims one of the Rings of Ascension from his brother’s hand. He places the Water Ring of Ascension on his own hand and says. “To the victor goes the spoils” As Kevintar moves away from his paralyzed brother, he waves his newly ringed hand and an icy barrier starts forming around Marteus. “We’ll catch up some more later, Brother.”

His foe defeated, Kevintar floats towards the dragons. The black storm clouds that had gathered around the battle begin to disperse. With a wave of his hand he halts the combat below, immobilizing Marteaus’s followers just like their god. ”Enough bloodshed on my account. Enough of it has been spilt over the last few centuries.”

Gealen and three other remaining priests gather around and bow deeply. Agatha and Sprocket hand back, Agatha looking aside a moment to beam over at Sesha. ”My faithful. Much have you suffered to free me, and so few remain. I will remain forever in your debt. May my former master guide the souls of our lost numbers to true peace. I’m afraid a long, hard journey still remains if we’re to build a true faith for my teachings.” The priests nod solemnly, still surrounded by dead friends and colleagues. A few of them cry silently, though they keep their faces composed.

Turning, the new immortal power addresses the party. ”And you, Iron Dragons, I owe as much. You purged my faith of the evil I so foolishly reached out to long ago and despite seeing the true horror of what I now regret you found it in yourself to give me a chance. Your names will forever be praised by any who follow my teachings for as long as my teachings exist.” he bows to them. The priests follow suit.

He nods in agreement with Kevintar and says, “Yeah, evil sucks.” Garret hasn’t been good with figuring out how to act in from of immortal powers, so he looks around to try and take clues from those around him. Then he looks around to see if there’s any food left in the leftover areas where the kitchen had been shoved aside for the massive battle.

And just like that, it's all done. He looks up at Kevintar, still wondering if they made the right call.

"Well guys, at least we got a god that owes us a favor now. That'll come in handy. So...we're done, yea? This mess really over? There are a lot of seriously powerful followers of Marteus here still. We just gonna let them walk and go spread their nonsense? Their brand of nonsense gets people killed."

He walks forward and looks up at Kevintar. "Ok dude. My legacy is super important to me. I'm gonna be real sore if we end up being known as the Dragons who brought about ruin." He pauses. "You seem pretty cool, though. A little ascetic for my tastes, but so is Zane, and we get along just fine. What exactly are you going to be the god of, anyway?"

Zane wonders how this will affect sailors and those who ply a trade involving the Seas....

I could no help but notice that there is a second ring of Ascension on Marteaus hand. Are we going to leave that with him? I would feel better bringing it to Gargul. I worry about retaliation from Marteaus if he retains his power... otherwise, I have a couple ideas for its use.

Tink is still quite wary. After all, should a Justicar feel good about a prison break? Based on how many times Kevintar's followers have lied and manipulated the party, she isn't ready to believe the head of their faith straight away. Only when Gimp or Gargul say things are ok will she relax... a little.

She gives a very slight nod of her head to Kevintar "It is our duty to fight evil. Wherever we find it" Tink looks about the room and then back to Kevintar "What do you plan to do now? How do you plan on making amends for past misdeeds?"

Calling the Second Cataclysm a 'misdeed' feels quite generous.

Sesha isn't quite sure that she and her allies aren't being a little too casual. Yes, they did Kevintaur a great favor, but only because Gargul set them down the path and gave his approval later.

"Perhaps we shouldn't play fifty questions with deities and powers.", she says over the ring. She isn't even certain that a deity ever owes amends to mortals.

And besides, if the divine power... not even a god... who just smote down Marteus in twelve seconds says the battle is finished.. well, in her book it is finished. So instead, Sesha finds her way to Agatha.

"It's encouraging, isn't it? To think that mortals can put gods back on their feet with enough effort?"

You can disapprove of Marteus and his followers, but they were following Gargul's instructions. I don't think it's our place to interfere. The real question is what is in store for the Wold at this point. I can't imagine such a power shift won't have an affect that ripples across the Wold for ages to come.

(OOC: There are 3 more Rings of Ascension on Marteus’s fingers)
Bosk stops shadow walking with the priest. He explains to Kevintar he should thank Gargul for them being there and then prays Kevintar remains reformed. The horned cleric then asks after the other Rings of Ascension on Marteus’s hand, explaining he has some ideas with how they could be used.

Kevintar says to Bosk, “Although my father did imprison me; I do owe him my thanks for without him doing that I would never be where I am today. Also he did put you on the path to aiding me and for that I will be grateful.” he takes a pause and then says, “Regarding the Rings of Ascension...I don’t think any individual should possess more than one. I am not intending to let my brother keep the rings of course but I haven’t decided what exactly should be done to each of them. Perhaps one could be placed in that vault of yours or we could consider your suggestion after I talk with my brother later. He isn’t going anywhere right now though as he is currently paralyzed and on ice.”

Garret looks around when everyone suddenly stops fighting. He looks up and notices Kevintar is talking to them and says, “Yeah, evil sucks.” before doing the typical Garret move and looking for food.

Kevintar just nods at Garret’s sentiment.

Restlin looks up at Kevintar wondering if they made the right call. He addresses Kevintar explaining that his legacy is important to him and says he is going to be sore if Kevintar brings about ruin. He then asks what Kevintar is going to be the God of as he remarks on how the Power’s asceticism reminds him of Zane.

Kevintar says to Restlin, “Given my history you are right to be wary. As Gaelen can attest I am a power dedicated to the ideals of Self-Realization and Redemption.”

Zane crosses his arms as Restlin mentions him. The Mage Priest has no idea how hard Zane struggles to deal with his dragon blood. Zane asks Kevintar what domains he will have association with and wonders what Kevintar’s possession of the water ring of ascension means for the sailors of the Wold.

Kevintar says to Zane, “I will have association with the domains of Self-Realization and Redemption (OOC: Good and Strength subdomains) which I was able to offer to Gaelen and the rest of the faithful. I think this ring, which called out to me may also perhaps open up the Water domain as well but I’m not sure about that.”

Tink is still quite wary. When should a Justicar feel good about a prison break? Also considering how many times they’ve been mislead by Agatha and the rest she isn’t ready to believe the head straight away. She is waiting for Gargul or Gimp to say things are okay to relax. She explains they fight evil where they fight it and then asks Kevintar what he plans to do now and how he will make amends for his past misdeeds.

Kevintar says to Tink
“I can understand your wariness. As for what I am going to do now, well I’ll work with my remaining followers to grow our number; making pacts and teaching others how to overcome their circumstances and become better versions of themselves. Perhaps we’ll see if any of Marteus’s people are interested in turning over a new leaf. I plan to make amends for what I did in the past by helping others to do the same. I’ll also help Gaelen's Cohort, Agatha in her quest to bring back her patron if I can. ”

Sesha feels a little uneasy with her party members casualness towards Kevintar. She suggests over the rings that they shouldn’t play 50 questions with Deities and Powers. She also thinks about how Kevintar is a power not a God and goes over the Agatha and remarks how encouraging it is that mortals can put Gods back on their feet with enough effort.

Agatha says, “I know and he says he’s going to help us bring back Janiterri and Serenbeth.”

Beri floats down and returns to his human form not trying to look too out of sorts. He looks at Bosk and says that you can disapprove of Marteus and his followers but they were following Gargul’s instructions. He remarks that the real question is what is in store for the Wold as he can’t imagine this power shift won’t ripple for ages to come.

Suddenly the party hears cackling up above. It seems Beri’s words were prophetic as above a figure stands next to the fallen Marteas holding a ring up in triumph. Her pale white face fades to a black body with a red hourglass, six arms raised in the air in triumph and a scorpion tail behind her. Jancassis.

Stowing the ring, she kneels down to caress Marteaus’s cheek. ”It seems our dear leader has gone and lost to his pathetic brother. How… pathetic. For to long have you held your power over your fellow gods Marteaus, promising us power but lording your own over us. Now here you are, alone and helpless, and vengeance is mine.”

With a sudden motion her tail whips forward and into the fallen god causing him to scream out in pain. The attack seems to break whatever spell Kevintar had him under; the crystal that enveloped him shatters and vanishes to nothing and he rolls away from Jancassis, clutching the wound in agony, before vanishing. His followers below also vanish.

She then looks directly at Bosk and says, "You have served your mistress well. My Avenger. For without you I'd never have this fire ring."

Kevintar was not idle through all this. As soon as her presence was known he started to fly swiftly towards Jancasis. She bows and speaks down to him as he ascends, ”Vengeance for both of us. Enjoy your freedom.”

Kevintar starts to reply but she vanishes as swiftly as Marteaus had. Looking troubled, he rejoins his followers and the dragons.

Jancassis. As if Marteus wasn't enough. The ring will make her even more powerful, and with her directly opposed by Pantheon, this day is just getting worse for Tink. What have they done?

"Let's get out of here"

DM Mitch
Thursday November 28th, 2019 8:22:03 AM

Restlin agrees that Beri has a good point then Jancassis shows up and he’s not sure that what happened was a good thing.
Garret goes to remark on Jancassis being there and before he knows it; its over. He then observes Bosk.
Bosk wants to lead the rest of the group in a direct line to Gargul
Zane becomes defensive as things go down. He stays ready but relaxes a little as things get discussed.
Wyaar says that he guesses that is that and agrees they should head to Gargul.
Beri watches as the balance of power shifts amongst a third God and then agrees they should seek out Gargul.
Sesha watches Jancassis leave with no small amount of pension and laments that Jancassis is not the one trapped. She knows her patron owes her one and that Gods can lose to powers if the circumstances are right.
Tink sees Jancassis gain power and things just get worse for Tink. With Jancassis opposed to Pantheon this day is just getting worse for the Justicar. She agrees they should get out of there.

However before the Iron Dragons can travel to Gargul...with a Thwump and a puff of smoke Gimp the Imp appears. “Hey Iron Dragons! I hope I’m not too late!”

He does a 360 surveying the remnants of the Bone Tower and the site surrounding it that was just a battlefield and lets out a low whistle.

He says, “So I guess the band formerly known as the Gods of Testing is splitting up. With Marteus weakened by his defeat with Kevintar he no longer has the power to keep all of them under his thumb. You just witnessed Jancassis’s reaction to what went down. Ga’al and Caeroldra have sought to strike out on their own as well. As you know The Bossman was the only God who was a member of both The Gods of the Wold and The Gods of Testing because He wanted to act as a balance but it looks like that balance is shifting. Marteus will likely be less active for a time, Jancassis might be more so, emboldened by her new acquisition. Who can say what Ga’al, Caeroldra and Warrd will do? The Bossman will remain a member of the The Gods of the Wold Pantheon at least despite the dissolution of The Gods of Testing as a unit. While unexpected, the Bossman is hopeful that this change will actually serve to weaken the harsher aspects of the Gods of Testing for the most part and hopefully turn out to be a good thing. Even if Jancassis possesses one of the rings of ascendency, she is no match for the unified front of the Woldian Pantheon and its allies among the immortal powers. Were Jancassis to attempt to make a grand move against the Wold and its people, Alemi, Domi, Pantheon, Flower, Ffloy and the Bossman stand ready to counter her.”

He then says, “Things aren’t all that uncertain, though. At least it turns out The Bossman and I may have been wrong about Kevintar. It looks like his imprisonment actually changed him for the better, but looks like you figured that out on your own. Hold on a minute I’m getting something from the boss man.”

Gimp looks off into the distance and says “Mm hmm, okay, okay. I got it.” before turning back to the Dragons, “So the boss man wants me to tell you that you made the right decision in aiding Kevintar in his battle against Marteus. With everything out in the open and Kevintar free again; He has looked into Kevintar’s heart and saw that one of his sons, at least, is earnest in his desire to move beyond what he used to be and become better. There is nothing to fear from Kevintar with respect to another year of Ascension. Although the boss man is leery of immortal powers and the pacts they forge with witches (he scowls looking from Sesha, To Gaelen, To Agatha) he seems to think that Kevintar may prove to be the exception to the rule.”

He looks to Sesha directly and says, “The bossman says he isn’t pleased with your use of Wold’s Blood but you get a pass as you were trying to save the world in an adventuring party, this time, but he might not be so forgiving in the future, especially if you are retiring.”
He looks directly to Agatha and says, “The bossman also isn’t pleased with you magicking the undead construct’s weapons to work during the battle but you also did it to save the world so he will spare you his ire this time. However if you keep pushing the envelope, your time in the afterlife may be unpleasant.”

To Kevintar he says, “You got a second chance, kid. The Bossman says don’t squander it as even if your intentions are good, you still have to work at it each and every day, but you know that. Good luck.”

To the Iron Dragons he says, “Make sure you get the undead and constructs and the er undead / construct back to the places they came from. Their presence is kind of giving the boss man a headache.”

Before everyone departs there is one promise I wanted to confirm before it is too late. If I remember, we were asked to make sure the gate to the realm of the undead king was permanently sealed. As you may have noticed, we have since found a second realm with sentient undead. We are happy to carry out the task as promised, but I feel it would be dishonorable not confirm with his representative first as it seems this might be the one group of people he might have a strong desire to establish ties with. If isolation is still preferred we understand and will carry out the task as promised and without hesitation. If you think this may be of interest to the king, we can hold off until the king confirms his thoughts. You have helped save our realm, and we promise to do what he feels will best protect his own.

Garret stands there with his mouth agape as he comes to the realization that deities and powers are people too. He then looks around to see who survived the battle and snacks on a turkey leg he was saving for a special occasion.

Looks like everyone survived the battle (Dock, Uthras, Mysterious Half Drow Stranger, The Custodian, The Watcher, Chuck, Megaman, Aeren, Skelter, Agatha, Gaelen, Sprocket) except for some of the remaining Faithful of Kevintar who fell in battle.

Zane lands next to Dock and says they should return him home to Hook city after they get the others home. He offers to let Dock come with him on Starblazer and tells Chuck there will be corrections to be done if he writes about The Bronze One

Dock tinkles at Zane, Highlight to display spoiler: {”Are there any plans to make me ship shape again?”} and then Chuck looks up at the Draconic Minotaur and says, “How about you just tell me what you want written now and we can skip catching up later?”

Restlin is a little perturbed that despite saving the world Sesha gets a pass (OOC: Well per the wiki writeup on Wold’s blood it seems like the Gods disprove of it being used so I thought it was appropriate) He has had enough dealing with Gods for a while.

Beri looks around at everyone who performed the ritual and realizes that some he may never see again once they are safely home. He asks Uthras if she thinks the Undead King still wants his portal sealed despite the fact of the sentient undead that exist in the form of the Skeletal Troopers from Queen Esmerald’s land.

Uthras says, “I’m not sure if their presence changes anything. I could take the matter to my liege and see what he thinks but the thing is I’m not sure if he would be be interested as the Skeletal Troopers are different from us considering they are a construction of several souls becoming a new creature while we are a transformation of a single being from life into the gift of eternal unlife, but perhaps my king may feel differently. He is a mage afterall and mayhap he feels he would gain something through interacting with and studying their race.”

Sesha is a little miffed and sends her two companions home.
Bosk thanks the group for their help.
Garret eats lots of turkey.

Kevintar and his followers thank the Dragons and their companions for the help again then vanish off to establish a new religion. Gimp says something about catching up with them later and also vanishes. With the Custodian’s help they’re able to send everyone home. Then it’s just a short teleport to their own home. Everything seemed quiet, with no sign of the Wold shaking events that just occurred.

Wyaar is glad to reaffirm his choice of patron in Ma’ab
Restlin says his farewells to some and ignores others but gets the feeling that Tink is really perturbed about the way things shook out. He isn’t sure himself if weakening Marteus in exchange for empowering Jancassis is a good thing.
Zane passes Dock’s sentiment about wishing to return to his normal ship shape and then starts thinking about what preparations will be needed for him to look for his parents.
Tink is happy to be out of there and wonders if the rest of the Wold knows what they’ve done.
Bosk reinforces to the others that he serves Gargul over Jancassis and should she use her newfound power to challenge Him with respect to the dead he will remain aligned with the God of Balance.
Beri suggests they spread the word about what happened
Sehsa is apprehensive for her own reasons regarding Jancassis.
Bosk, Sesha, Wyaar and Beri agree with respect to getting their tale on the record but before they can do that they have to deal with 2 visitors…

The first visitor is somewhat Mundane. He is a halfling man with spikey blond hair pushing a cart. He says, “Hello Iron Dragons! I would like to give you all a free sample of my latest creation. Perhaps you may have heard of me I am Guilfoyle Ferrari, some may call me a celebrity chef and I’d like to spread the celebrity around so I have come to hook city to ply my trade.”

The halfling man has a small fire set up on his car and a number of meat patties roasting on sticks. He also has a grill set up. He takes a rough country bun, slices it in two, butters the inside and then sticks it on the grill. He lets it get golden brown before adding one of the meat patties on to the grill as well. He has some red sausage links as well and slices one of those down the middle putting it on the grill to join the patty. After it has sufficiently cooked he assembles the burger putting the patty, the sausauge, a slice of pepper jack cheese, jalepenos and a red sauce on the burger. He gives the first one to Garret and says, “well what do you think?”

In short order he has assembled one for everybody and then says, “I would like to call this burger the Garret for it is short but it has a lot of kick and I was hoping you all would endorse it.”

While people are eating their burger the second visitor arrives and it is by unconventional though normal for that visitor.

With a [i]Thuwmp[/b] Gimp arrives again, “Hello Iron Dragons, I didn’t mean to drop in on you soon, but I kind of was being melodramatic and misread the situation.” He sniffs the air and says, “Can I get one of those?” indicating the burger.

Guilforyle Ferrari makes the imp one and then Gimp says between bites of burger, “You see it’s like this. Hey this is pretty good. Spicy, just the way I like it. The Gods of Testing may eventually break up and Jancassis, Caeroldra and Ga’al are certainly chaffing at the bit to go their separate ways but these kind of things take time. Gods they have all the time in the wold, literally so their time tables are a lot longer than those of mortals. While I think they are headed towards splitsville it might take a while for that to officially manifest itself in the Wold. I guess be vigilant for now and prepared for when things officially go down but I’m sorry I kind of jumped the gun on everything. So any questions before I head back again?”

Garret looks over to Tink after they're home and says, "Honestly, I'm not completely sure what we did or what the long-term ramifications are going to be of what we did..."

Garret runs out the door, knocking over a chair on his way outside to check on this guy with meat cooking in the open air. He dances from one foot to the other waiting for the sausages to cook. He takes a bite before the meat has time to cool and he closes his eyes to enjoy the taste. The first one disappears before everyone has one and Garret tries to wait his turn before he has a second.

Now? This dude was asking them to endorse his stick food now? Restlin's about to skip the whole ordeal when Gimp shows up. THAT was something that needed attention.

"I'm ok with all of those gods not working together. I'm also ok with not dealing with any of their nonsense for a long, long time."

The fact that his own patron was a god of Testing is not lost on him. He's never considered Wardd an ally of Ga'al, Marteus, or any of the other "evil" gods.

"I'm a...I'm gonna go soak. Gimp, glad things worked out." He heads up to his room and sits cross-legged on his bed. Restlin was a terrible priest. He'd accepted that, but he was also the Wold's most powerful Mendicant. Surely that earned him a bit Wardd's attention. He prays.

"Hey Wardd, it's me, Restlin. Looks like we boned things up over there with your pantheon. Not sure where that leaves you. I'm not one to give advice to a god, but I'm pretty curious where you're gonna fall in all this.

"Also, we still cool?"

Beri is actually a little happy that they have a moment to breath before any changes take place. It's been rough few weeks and his body could use a good rest before the chaos of such changes takes place.
Can't say I'm surprised. At the very least I would expect any change to take place during some big flashy gathering where they can have the most impact and attract followers to their name.
Then the druid responds over the ring.
I'm not sure what alternatives we have... but I've already been killed by a god once, not something I'm eager to repeat. I think it's best we let the gods figure out among themselves what is going to happen.

"Wow. I had such a big breakfast this morning I'm not sure I'm going to be able to fit this in as well. You want mine, Garret?"

DM Mitch
Tuesday December 3rd, 2019 7:05:45 AM

(Note from DMs to PCs: As you may have guessed we have finished the planned endgame for Hook City. We have nothing planned for the next 2 weeks, after which we’ll do a retirement party for the group before the break occurs. As such we’ll try to create interesting follow up things for people to check out and everyone should feel free to do any activities they want their character to do before retirement.

Garret replies to Tink that he is not sure what they did or the long term ramifications is going to be. Garret wolfs down his Garret before it has even had time to cool and he tries to wait his turn while Guilfoyle is serving the others to grab his second.

Restlin is incredulous about the guy wanting the Iron Dragons to endorse his stick food now of all times but when Gimp shows up. He personally is ok with the Gods of Testing not working together. He also is okay not having to deal with them for a long time. Restlin says he is going to go soak and then sits on his bed praying to Warrd. He mentions the recent uncertainty with Warrd’s pantheon and then asks if they are still cool.

To Restlin’s shock he actually hears a response in his head. ”I wouldn’t worry about my Pantheon, let’s just say there is going to be more parity and I think we’re more likely to stick together than wander off in our separate ways; though only time will tell. Also remember how Marteus had 2 rings when he left you? Well now he only has one. I had to test my luck against Marteus and what do you know it's true what they say, it really is better to be lucky than good but I’d like to think I’m a bit of both. You already know that. I couldn’t have gotten this sweet sweet air ring without you my most powerful Mendicant. Well done!”

Zane suggests letting the Wold find out whatever is going to happen with the Gods of testing on their own when the time comes.

Beri is happy they have a beat and says he isn’t surprised and that he would expect any change to be announced at a gathering where the Gods of Testing would have a chance to attract new followers. Over the rings he tells the others he isn’t sure what the alternative is but he’s already been killed by a God once and doesn’t want to repeat it.

Bosk thanks the cook and pending Garret’s endorsement he at least will sign on as well. To the others he says over the rings that he feels they should put everything out in the open lest someone else twist whatever happens later for their own ends.

Tink agrees with Bosk and just tries a small bite of the burger.

Gimp says, “To be clear, it’s possible The Gods of Testing don’t actually break up. Only time will tell what will happen and if something further happens to alter the balance of power maybe they’ll stay together; Marteus just won’t lord it over the rest of them. So if you tell people what happened you might just want to say the Gods of Testing may change because of what happened with the rings but you don’t know exactly how in the long term. Sorry I listened in on your party line by the way”

Guilfoyle makes Garret another edible Garret and prepares to hand out more of the burgers for anyone interested in having seconds, thirds or nths; whatever the case may be. He looks abundantly interested in what Garret has to say and asks his fellow halfling, “So what do you say? Will you endorse the burger that bears your name?”

Gimp has a second Garret of his own and asks Guilfoyle to make him one to go to take to Gargul.

So what will you do now? Some of you have already taken some time to rest while others are advocating you go … somewhere? Presumably to the Hook City government and the heads of the different religions about what happened between Kevintar and Marteus at the Bone Tower. Do you have a place you’d like to head first? Maybe take the evening to rest and start fresh in the morning? Who knows maybe you can convince Guilfoyle to stay the night and cook you guys a fine dinner? The choice is up to you...

Sesha still isn't convinced there's much worth announcing. She's said her piece though, and is done with it. Restlin leaves the commons for a bath and his room, so she does the same.

She had a lot of things to consider.

As she walks barefoot towards her caves, she stops to breathe in the moist air. Her eyes adjust to the darkness, and she smiles at Sister, who is sitting on the edge of her furs waiting for her to return. Sesha sighs, then joins her simulacrum.

"Hello master.", Sister quips.

"Not master. Anything else but that."

"So sorry. Hello sister. How was your adventure?"

Sesha groans and plops into her own furs. In a moment, she feels smooth, ebony hands on her back, working through her tension. She purrs, then closes her eyes and begins to drift to sleep. Only a question pulls her, against her will, back to consciousness.

"Have you seen Y'zargo and the others? They were agitated with worry. Y'zargo in particular was very aggressive."

Seshas sudden start startles Sister, and her massage falters for a moment. Something... there was always something to do, Sesha thought sadly. And sometimes "something" was dealing with lecherous apprentice warlocks.

"Here now, I'm sure with one more that I can taste that flavor..."

Soon Garret is all but drooling as his stomach is truly filled for the first time in a long time. He takes a seat and tries to cram yet another sandwich in. Some smears on his face and some dribbles down the front of him. He tries to keep his eyes open as the food coma sets in. "I thhhin...Ugh..."

"Well, if we are going to confront the PTB and inform them of what happened, We should arrive there in style at least.
Why not have everyone get cleaned up and dress up a bit, then we'll hop on Starblazer and sail across the city to where we will have already told those leaders to meet us. Somewhere basically neutral, not here, and not at their power center. Thus maintaining a balance among them and us. We didn't go crawling to them, and none of them are hosting such an important meeting, thus balance.
We will be having a bit of advantage, because we declared where the meeting will be, but by not holding it here, our base of power, we are not demanding they look like they are submitting to us either.
We craft the letters to be delivered phrased such that we will be laying out first hand knowledge that should be known by many. And declare the location where will we be telling the information. If said invitees wish to learn what we have to say, they will be there at a time we set, as we will not be repeating the meeting. And at the bottom of the invite we list all who are invited to the meeting, thus those who fail to show up can not accuse us of not telling them all the same information.
As Dragon Disciples, we are slightly above, but we are also sharing.

Hoe's that sound. I can have members of "Clan of the Bronze" deliver the invites to those we invite here in Hook City."

Sesha returns to her own quarters. She is greeted by Sister who refers to her as master before Sesha tells the construct not to call her that. She then decides to go in search of Y’zargo and the rest of her coven for she is concerned about what her apprentice warlock could have gotten up to.
Garret samples several of Guilfoyle’s Garrets becoming more full than he has in a long time. He gives Guilfoyle a little bit of feedback along the way before finally passing out in a food coma.
Bosk smiles at Garret’s antics and observes that Guilfoyle has his endorsement
Wyaar enjoys the burger as well and agrees that the Garret is a good name.
Zane comes up with a grand strategy for planning a meeting of the veritable whose who in the Wold at a nuetral territory where the Iron Dragons can inform them of the outcome of their most recent adventure. He suggests they take time to bathe and dress nice and have invitations made that list all who are invited as well as outlining that they will not be repeating the meeting. He also suggests that he could have the Clan of the Bronze act as curriers for those they invite from Hook City.
Beri agrees they should bathe first too before arranging any meetings.
Tink sighs and says they’ll have to invite the star mages

Sesha and Restlin have retired, Garret is asleep in his food. Zane, Bosk, Beri and Wyaar and Tink are still gathered near Guilfoyle’s cart.

At the hearing of the meeting Zane suggests Guilfoyle perks up and says, “What is a meeting without some refreshment? How many folks are you expecting? Perhaps I could cater the affair? Don’t worry it won’t all be Garrets in fact I might have to adjust the recipe and make Garret sliders if you are expecting a large number of people to show up.”

Who specifically do you intend to invite besides the Star Mages and on what neutral ground will you have your meeting on. Will anyone help Garret prior to attending the meeting because a halfling asleep in the remnants of the burger bearing his name is probably not the kind of impression you want to give at such an important meeting.

Restlin remembers Auslander and decides they’ll defer to the inspector as to which folks amongst Hook City leadership should be invited. He extends an invite to the Inspector and seeks his advice as to who to invite.

Garret wakes up from his food coma and looks around wondering where the food cart went. He tags along with Restlin to see the man’s reaction.

Wyaar asks if they are sure they haven’t broken any laws and that they won’t be arrested. He muses on their history.

Zane observes that if they didn’t get trouble at the end of their adventuring life it wouldn’t be them.

Beri thinks back on the huge list of Hook City laws and shrugs. He suggests they broke the second law but not the first one as no Kings were spit on. He notes the Iron Dragons maturity.

Bosk notes as dragons they’d be immune to being prosecuted anyway.

Auslander greets Restlin and Garret and says “ What’s all this then? A meeting for a veritable whose who of Hook City? Well we will need representatives from the religions, the mages, the city government, the nobles and the merchants.” He pulls out a record book and starts listing off names. Before you know it you have a pretty big invite list and you create the invitations you talked about. The clan of the Bronze act as couriers and Guilfoyle is appraised of how many guests to expect.

You set a time of day when you should have good weather and full visibility since you wanted to do an image show.

Guilfoyle has brought an even bigger cart and has sous chefs in tow. Pretty soon a variety of pleasant food smells is drifting over the gathering. Besides Garret sliders there is a variety of small plate style cuisine. Ramekins full of pasta with melted cheese, braised pork served on a pancake like offering with sprouts and a tangy sauce, a brick oven cooked flat bread smothered with red sauce, cheese and a variety of toppings. Other small sandwiches in slider forms featuring a plethora of different meat and topping options.

As your guests start getting their food everything seems to be lining up. The day is clear, the sky is sunny and you have a very good chef catering. Among those gathered you see Auslander (of course), Mara Weaver, Torm, Flea, and Agatha. Various high profile figures are present from the different religions, factions and bureaucrats that call Hook City their home.

They seem to be all waiting for you ...

Restlin sighs quietly. "Fiiiiine. I'll do it."

He steps up. "Ok, Hook City bigwigs, listen up! We've been busy, and our latest adventure has pretty radically shook up our world's Patheon. I know a lot of you are more into powers than gods, but you should probably still be aware.

"Point the first: Kevintar is free of his prison."
He moves his hands up and down, palm down, in the universal symbol of "shush, already!" if there's any murmuring. "Fortunately for those of us not looking forward to another god war tearing the place apart, he's spent his time in isolation well, and is determined to be a force for self-realization and redemption. Beats the heck out of being Gargul's muscle.

"Point the second: Marteus has been stripped of some of his power by Jancassis."
He makes sideways glances to Tink and Bosk. "Feelings are split on this matter. Time will tell."

He has kept the tidbit about Wardd's acquisition of another ring to himself so far, and continues to do so. Fair? Maybe not, but it's his call.

"Anyway, the Gods of Testing are about to go through some big reorganizing. They move on god timelines, not mortal timelines, so we're not expecting any huge changes right away." He looks up, briefly. If something major was going to happen right away, this would be the moment it did.

Bosk steps up to the podium. For those that do not know, in the First Age of the Wold, when Alemi first rose to power, he made Gargul the god of death and the feelings and mind set that one would. At that time people viewed balance as evil vs life, but with Gargul's help we evolved with him and learned that true balance is that of life and death... Of good and evil. As he traveled the Wold to unravel these mysteries he had Marteaus oversee all that dealt with evil and Kevintar oversee all things dealing with death.

This realization that life and death were separate form the issues of good and evil shook the understanding of the gods of the Wold, who had previously sent evil and life opposite sides of the same coin.

Just as Gargul evolved and showed us a true path, so too has Kevintar evolved. After several ages of reflection he has come to embody a new type of rebirth. Where as Marteaus sought a new form of rebirth...to strengthen people and make them their best possible self through trials designed to overcome their weaknesses, Kevintar has found a better path through enlightenment and self-actualization.

As for what will happen to the organization of the gods of testing, we might never know. The gods are immortal, so the have the luxury and time to change slowly. It might take days, years or generations to see the resolution if these changes. But we thought the people of this great city deserved to hear the accounts if what happened first hand rather than through the filter of someone who was not there and may have an agenda.

Bosk then reveals a statue he created using every ounce of his skill. It is a marble carving depicting the great battle of Hook City against the Zombie Hoards with the citizens prominently displayed in foreground, doing battle with whatever last on have and the Iron Dragons bravely fighting in the background. The relief is designed to inspire courage in all who seek it.

Ooc: If possible, I would like this placed outside our tower and to grant a +1 morale bonus to saving throws against fear to all who view it for 20-30 minutes per the spell bless. (I haven't update my sheet, but I should have +27 to crafting wonderous items without any magical enhancements, so hopefully this isn't asking too much or have breaking)

"So, any questions?" That was probably a lot for everyone to take in and understand. Tink doesn't want to publicly call out the Star Mages Guild in front of the crowd. That might come across as a little petty. There's no doubt a few good people in the organisation, but they do need to be aware of any poison apples.

DM Hugh - The Meeting

Wyaar nudges Garret and suggest the halfling give a speech.
Beri waits for someone else to start speaking
Zane explains the reasoning behind the gathering and then prepares to hand speaking privileges over to one of the better orators. He then prepares a meat on a stick distraction should Garret try to listen to Wyaar’s suggestion.
Garret goes to speak his mouth full of Garret Burger but only gets so far as “Good People Of…” before going for Zane’s stick meat.
Tink starts up the picture show using a silent image spell high in the air
Restlin address the crowd, letting them know that Kevintar is free but that he has changed. He also lets it be known that Marteus has been weakened by Jancassis and that there could be some change to the Gods of Testing Pantheon in the long term. (OOC: are you not sharing that Warrd further weakened Marteus as well?)
Bosk puts things in perspective by putting what happened in the context of history. He also reiterates the timeline for a God change is unknown and reveals a new statue meant to embolden and inspire the good people of Hook City.
Tink asks if anyone has any questions.

There is a chattering amongst the gathered crowd at the news of things being shook up. You hear things like: “A new immortal power?” “Diametrically opposed to Marteus? Jancassis weakened Marteus? Infighting amongst the Gods of Testing? That might not be good...”

Torm is actually the first person to raise a question, “Greetings…...Iron….Dragons….You....raise...an...interesting….point…...the...majority of us…..do….worship….the….immortal...powers...in...some...form...or…….another….might...it...make...sense...to….offer...the….head...of…………..Kevintar’s faith…..a….plot….of….land...within...the….city….”

Auslander says, “Yes well, that is all well and good but they need to fill out forms 107 aught c in triplicate and get a certified notary to noterize documents 7806 strike f and 8306 stike j. If the paperwork is in order than the head of Kevintar’s church may have a parcel of Hook City land tax exempt per ordnance e2d5 paragraph c.”

Agatha says, “Well I’m actually the cohort of the head of Kevintar’s faith, Gaelen Mercurious. Although my pact is with Janiterri, Kevintar has indicated he is willing to work with Sesha and I to try to bring back some of the Serenbeth sisters if possible. Anyway, I also happen to be a certified notary so I’ll work with Gaelen to get the proper forms in place and then I’m sure Kevintar’s faithful would be more than happy to join your city officially.”

One of the Guard Captains speaks up, “How pray tell did Jancassis weaken Marteus? Might the technique she used be adapted to vanquish him once and for all? A wounded animal becomes a desperate animal so might it be worth it to mount an expedition to vanquish Marteus while he is weakened?”

At the guards question there certainly is a lot of murmuring among the crowd.

Auslander says, “I think that one is above my paygrade. Iron Dragons I think this metaphysical question about slaying a God albeit a weakened one is for you.”

"I won't speak for my friends, but I'm not too interested in slaying Marteus. Even if it is possible, should we? That sounds like a great way to kick off another Cataclysm or Year of Ascension.

"I'd rather keep Marteus around in a weakened state than risk setting off a chain reaction that could land us something worse."

Talk about being above one's pay grade, that's not something I even want to consider. We mortals, have enough troubles of our own to take care of without borrowing any from the Realms of the Gods.

"I don't mean to step on toes, Inspector, however there is also form 13 dash 6 of the lands act that needs to be completed" Ahhh... paperwork and laws. Tink is indeed home again "Perhaps we can also have a quiet word later about a related matter?"

No. Just no. There is no way that Tink will be sitting quietly and letting Agatha take any further part in things here. She's still waiting for Agatha to reveal her allegiance to Marteus. It seems like the sort of thing she'd do. If Tink could think of just one law that Agatha had broken, just one, she'd have her in chains so fast that... that...uh... Sesha makes a point to stand with Agatha during most of the preceedings. She knows Agatha is very disliked, but Sesha understands and forgives her, probably because the way she sees it, she would have handled a group like the Iron Dragons exactly the same way Agatha did.

Sometimes, needs must. Even if you know the good guys will .. probably help you ... its prudent sometimes to manipulate them into helping you for sure. And if Serenbeth was at stake? She'd do it in a heartbeat.

She gives Agathas hand a comforting squeeze now and then.

"If you need anything, be sure to come to me. It will probably have the best result."

Beri looks at Tink's frustration. Agatha hasn't exactly been on the Dragon's side, and her actions had put them in very real danger. He reaches out to Tink over the link:
...So, Agatha wants to play the role of a notary? And she's a cohort of the head of Kevintar’s faith? Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. I would suspect that most places would have some sort of law against such conflicts... and Hook City sure likes it's laws...

DM Hugh - The Meeting part Deux
Tuesday December 10th, 2019 12:47:32 AM

Restlin is not in the God Slaying business and conveys this to the assembled group. He speculates that killing a God could cause another cataclysm and that it is better to have Marteus around in a weakened state than a potentially worse alternative.
Garret chomps on his meat on a stick and suggests he’s had enough of dealing with Gods
Wyaar suggests that direct conflict with Gods is not the job of the Dragon Consortium and explains he’d only go directly against Marteus if Queen Ma’ab asked him to
Zane echoes what the others said about taking on Gods. He asks if there are any other questions.
Tink mentions form 13 dash 6 with respect to forms that need to be filled out to set Kevintar’s followers up with land and asks if she can talk later quietly. Tink is still dubious of Agatha.
Sesha stands with Agatha during most of the proceedings. She can empathize with why Agatha made the decisions she did and if she was put in Agatha’s position dealing with a group like the Iron Dragons she could see herself behaving the same way. She tells Agatha to come to her if the woman needs anything.
Beri looks at Tink’s frustration and asks if Agatha being both the cohort of someone forms are being filled out for and the notary of said forms is a conflict of interest.

A child responds to Zane, “Were you scared to travel through the gates and oppose Marteus to his face?”

Auslander says, “I think this one is for you also since I wasn’t there.”

After the child has been satisfied another person raises their hand. He is a tall elf with a hooked nose who says, “Jelatheon Oewellion with the Hook City Herald; May I have an exclusive interview with the Iron Dragons? I want to do a retrospective of your adventuring careers culminating in your most recent adventurer and this meeting on the bridge.”

Auslander says, “I’m not your manager. If you want to grant the reporter an interview you are more than welcome too.”

As to facing Marteus, we weren't there to face him.
He leans in closer to the child, then stage whispers, "Now, between you and me, yes, I was scared, I'm only me, a Man, Marteus is a Divine being, he is a God, and a God has awesome amounts of power. I was scared he'd snap his fingers and I'd be gone. Remember this, just because you are scared, doesn't make it so you can't be Brave at the same time. Be brave, Be the Best you can be, and be honest to yourself."
Zane stands back up, satisfied with what he's said. Over the rings, "I could have the reporter talk to Kip...."

Garret offers the little girl some meet on a stick.

Bosk lets the others answer the questions

Restlin suggest Oewellion meet them at the tower the next day at noon. He feels that this is important as he wants to make sure his legacy is captured correctly.

Beri agrees it is bet to meet tomorrow to discuss tomorrow the interview. He suggests the story is more complicated than someone would believe but they want to make sure all the important parts get hit. He says a lot of their adventures were recorded in the records of Hook City but the reporter probably wants something more interesting than bureaucratic records.

The story done, the question answered the catered gathering of people at the bridge turns into a block party-esque atmosphere. Guilfoyle continues to produce small plates well into the evening and everyone is able to have their fill even any halflings in the audience. Some musicians happen to be in attendance and they start serenading the crowd.

As things start to wind down Auslander seeks out Tink and says “There was some matter you wanted to discuss with me.”

How do you spend the party and the evening after the party? Do you throw and afterparty at the Tower after the bridge gathering? Who do you invite?

The next day around noon Oewellion shows up. He knocks at your door and says, “I believe I am expected?”

After being ushered in he asks, “So what are you looking for exactly in order to grant my interview request? I have no intention of doing a hatchet job if that is what you are worried about and as pointed out yesterday the official records are rather dry. "After all the trouble she has caused us I would advise against having her act as a notary for Kevintar's faithful. In fact, based on her actions, I would advise caution dealing with her at all. I can't say I trust her nor will again. She put her secretive goals ahead of the dangers and risks to others. Not the sort of person I would trust in terms of looking out for the people of Hook City.

The next day, he's prepared to meet with this Oewellion bloke. "What are we looking for?" He ponders for a moment. "Make us look good, make sure to highlight how different we all are and how we use that as a strength, make sure we seem like fun people. Because we are...even Bosk."

I think I'll stay out a while. With such a colossal change in the pantheon I am sure there will be a lot of talk going on. I doubt anything is going to happen until the gods sort things out amongst themselves and the results get relayed to their temple heads, but it never hurts to be informed of the way things are shifting within the walls of the city.

Beri heads to the Drunken Lyre for a few pints, reporting back any interesting rumors over the rings, but will return in time to be rested and presentable for the interview.

When he discusses the terms of the interview Beri has a few thoughts as well.
Also, make sure any discussion of the gods involved is respectful. I've been killed by a god before and I really would prefer not to have that happen again. With a shift in power like what happened, it can be easy to let one's feeling towards certain ones slip through, especially when it comes to the gods of testing.

Zane leaves the party to check in on his Clan of The Bronze followers in the old stable area. He is greeted with cheers of "All hail Ths Bronze One!" and other adorations and he learms from kip that the courier service they've been running has taken in enough revenue to keep them provisioned.

Beri spends the night of the party at the Drunken Lyre. He tells the others of rumors he heard. Supposedly some golden eyed menace is causing problems in Dirt City and The Mailed Fist sent a unit to investigate rumors of a lich. Asife from those bits of info the rest of the convo ks rather boring. The next day the druid is prsssntable for the reporter and suggests that any discussions involving the Gods are repectful.

Oewellian says "killed by a God eh? That sounds like an interesting story. Don't suppose you would like to talk about it?"

As to Restlin and Beri's request Oewellian says I can make you look good and as for fun that party you threw speaks for itself. I can also be tasteful with respect to the Gods. "Most of us weren't there when the Iron Adventurers formed. Bosk was, I think Beri was, or at least joined soon after?" He looks to Beri for confirmation.

"I joined early in the group's history, but the rest of us have shuffled in and out. Bosk can tell you about the founding, as well as how we got this tower. He loves telling that story.

"As far as examples, that's tough. We've been together so long, that we just know when someone's going to do something. If a group of bad guys charges us, our melee folks back off until we casters throw area effect spells at them. I joined up with Bosk shortly after he started his adventure, and indeed I was one of those that signed the initial paperwork to form the Iron Adventurers... because, in Hook City there is always paper work.

As for the time I was killed by a god, now that's an interesting story!

You see, we were called upon by Gargul himself to deal with a danger that could mean the end to all life in the Wold. A danger that was being brought about by a cult, and we had found out that even Gargul's most devout had been deceived into believing they were serving him. Well, naturally I asked how we could tell we were serving the will of Gargul and not the imposter when the imposter was able to fool those who have devoted a lifetime to Gargul.

..You no doubt have seen the dimple in the middle of my forehead

Beri brushes aside his hear to give the reporter a clear look.

I watched in terror as the god transformed into a giant eye 100 feet tall. I was helpless as I watched the eye crash into me with a force enough to kill a man a hundred times over. I learned that day that Gargul isn't one for subtlety.

I am told that my soul rose like mist from my corpse, my spirit unable to interact beyond sending a feeble whisper. That there is the mark left where the Rolling Eye of Gargul first touched me. It twinges painfully whenever in the presence of the God of Life and Death, but thankfully not if he is absent. It is also a reminder of why I worship Queen Maab and not Gargul.

ooc: Sorry, I feel asleep posting last night.

"There he goes!" "Get him!"... That is how it all began. Hard to believe it was only a few years ago. Let me start at the beginning.

It had been raining for the last three days, and the best thing that may be said about the drizzle that continued into the new day was that it was not the downpour that had been occurring previously. I surved the scene before me: the vast, muddy expanse of space that is right outside the northern gates into the City of Magic-- Mudtown....and I was the newest visitor. The pace was brisk and the action a bit lively, but anyone looking to hire themselves out as guards to the merchants had been directed to this area of Hook City--which the city guard did not regard as part of the city proper, so (short of a murder occurring within sight of the gates or the guard towers of the huge protective wall that surrounds the city) any people who occupied Mudtown were largely on their own.

I had left the bad memories of my hometown behind me and was concerned with staking a place in this locale--specifically the track that was called "Hire Road." The "road" was a muddy, wide swath cut between several rows of wooden buildings that were lined with adventurers seeking positions with the merchants that have to wait outside the walls of the city until their number is called. There were several people that traversed the road, obviously merchants, as they all seemef to peer at the various mercenaries with intent eyes. The easiest way to tell the difference between the merchants and the mercenaries was that most of the merchants were being carried over the ever-muddy ground, usually in specially-crafted litters or chairs mounted on horizontal poles, although there were a few who seem to be levitating. Occasionally one or another of these merchants beckoned to one or another of the mercenaries and began to speak in earnest with them about becoming "gainfully employed".

As I scanned the chaotic scene, I heared a yelp and turned to see a running little boy of about 3ft. in height being pursued by several people, who are shouting to each other: "There he goes!" "Get him!"

Myself and several other strangers stepped in to prevent the murder if the little boy....well... He ended up being a handling thief disguised as a little boy, but because of how we handle the situation a merchant hired the lot of us and the rest is history.

I believe I am the only remaining member of that party, but we together formed a protection group. We faced a well know group known as the Iron Band, and Beri joined our group at this time. After our next job we officially became know the Iron Adventurers. This was in no small part due to a half-orc in our group known as Maikill. He figured that Iron was strong, and the Iron Band was strong. Therefore we needed Iron in our name to be strong. No amount of arguing would change his mind....

Anyway, since then members have come and gone until the final group you see before us came together. I will let the others tell of their addition.

DM Hugh - The interview
Friday December 13th, 2019 1:03:06 AM

Garret continues to sleep as the wold is not at stake for once.
Restlin explains that aside from Bosk most of the group wasn’t there at the group’s inception. He explains that he had joined early but the rest have shuffled in and out and suggests Bosk can tell about the founding and how they got the tower.
The Mage Priest then starts talking about how the group members complement each other listing off how when they are attacked the meleeists hold off until the casters can get off their area of effect spells, that if someone knows the answer to a question they just look at that person till they do and lastly explains he’s the designated storyteller but he doesn’t turn up the charm. The mendicant explains they are all capable people and while they disagree they speak plainly and figure things out. He then mentions the time Bosk wouldn’t let Restlin save the world by taking a bath.

Oewellian had been jotting things down in a journal while Restlin was talking. He looks up from his writing and says, “The time Bosk wouldn’t let you save the world by taking a bath? Don’t think I had heard that one. Also follow up question, were you and Matron in Waiting Sesha an item at that time and how did she feel about your bath plan if she was?”

Zane explains he joined the group, left to search for his parents then came back. He still believes they are no longer deceased and is continuing to search for them.
(OOC: I thought the cult had a guy who turned Zane’s parents remains into Bone Golems or because the golems are destroyed was their evidence the parents were resurrected?)

Oewellian says to Bosk, “If you can give me any information you have on your parents I can do what I can to put the word out in the Herald that you are seeking them out.”

Wyaar explains he joined because his queen told him too then mentions the time Restlin got stuck in a rope trick when every one else was muddy and wet.

Oewellian responds, “Could you elaborate on that story, Wyaar?”

Beri gives full details of the time that Gargul killed him for questioning the God including the resulting dimple that was created when the giant eye of Gargul crushed the druid. He explains that it aches when in the presence of the god of life and death and that that is the reason he too worships Ma’ab and not Gargul.
Oewellian says, “Well that is certainly a one of a kind mark. Not everyone can say I was killed by a God and brought back to tell about it. I’d understand if you didn’t want that part entering the record.”

Bosk explains how the group first formed by stopping the murder of what appeared to be a young human boy running through a local road where mercenaries gathered. He explains that the boy turned out to be a handling thief but a local merchant was impressed with how they hired the situation and they were given a job. He also explains that they became known as the Iron Adventurers when they defeated a group known as the Iron Band and a former member of the Iron Adventurers, a minotaur named Maikill was adamant they had Iron in their name because it was strong and nothing could dissuade the Taur from the notion so it just stuck. He defers to the others to tell how they joined.

Oewellian notices how some of the members appear to be missing and says, “Are the others not coming? I’ve heard interesting things concerning Garret and I’d like to converse with him more if possible.”

He says, “If they are coming while we wait perhaps in addition to elaborating on some of your anecdotes that were brought up could you tell the Herald about your most difficult adventure and your most rewarding one?”

Tink returns from her discussions with Auslander. The poor man had obviously had a little too much to drink. Robert - Auslander's notary - is who Tink had recommended. Perhaps Auslander had a different Robert in mind?

Oewellian has asked some interesting questions.

"I'm not exactly sure what it is I can provide that hasn't already been said.

There was one fight that I was quite proud of. We were fighting some colossal inter-dimensional monstrosity that was attacking the Hooks of the city. Garret managed to deliver the fatal blow but since it was in the air at the time it would make a huge crater when it hit the ground, potentially causing many injuries. I was able to get to it in time, slow it's fall, and ride it's corpse to the ground and assuming the landing pose. It would likely have been more impressive if anyone could have seen it at the time. Unfortunately I was invisible for the whole thing"

Garret stumbles into the room looking quite bleary eyed and with hair sticking out in all directions. He looks like he has just been sleeping, and he has. He wanders through the main room where people are talking without really opening his eyes and stumbles into the kitchen. He crashes around a bit as he seeks out some bits of bread and leftover meat.

He makes his way back into the main room, munching on the stale bread. He looks around and perks up a bit when he realizes that they're telling stories. "Hey, have you heard about the time I rode on a dragon? Actually, it was more than once, and I'm not talking about a nice, sort-of tame dragon like Bosk over there..."

Restlin hand waves the bath issue away. "It's a personal grievance, not one for posterity. As for Sesha and I, I think she was still feeling me out. Our relationship took some persistence, but we clicked right away.

"That whole adventure was a big deal to Sesha, seeing how it ended up culminating in her current title. I'll let her elaborate if she'd like it on the record.

"If you want to know about the most dangerous adventure I think we've faced, that was a time before most of us were here. I think just Zane, Bosk, and Beri are the only ones besides myself that were around for it. There was an illithid demigod that had..." He looks to Bosk. "Well, it had caused some past trauma with us. I'll leave it at that unless Bosk wants to elaborate. That's not my story to tell.

"Anyway, we were stuck in a pit with this gargantuan, tentacled beast. That pit was crazy deep, too. Took us over an hour to walk down into it. Looking back, the fight didn't last too long. They rarely do. It was able to knock several of us out, though. We'd get everyone healed up just long enough to press the attack before the beast would put us down again. I got the bright idea to fly far above it's head and drop an anchor feather token on it. It was a stupid idea, but that must have been a lucky token because it turned into the biggest anchor I've ever seen. It crushed the illithid right before Zane ripped its heart out.

"Another minute and we would have been out of healing magic. We'd just be 8 more souls consumed by it. I've fought liches, ancient dragons, intelligent asteroids...none of it scarier than that demigod."

Zane thinks back....
"I first met the Original group when I was on my way to Hook City from The Monastery. That's where I was raised, a temple of sorts, but not to any God, a Temple to personal perfection. They taught me from when I was found floating at sea by a fisherman who dropped me off there. I still have some trouble keeping what they call balance, but I'm happy with what I've achieved.
Well anyways, i was almost to the edge of Mudtown when I fell into a hole that opened up beneath me. When I stopped sliding down the slick tunnel, I was in a tomb like place with a group of strangers, by the time we fought our way out, I had been accepted as a part of the Iron Adventurers. After that we were tasked with clearing out some ratty old Tower.
As to what Restlin said about the pit, I will also add, I think was a HUGE spider creature before we got very far in."

Beri shrugs his shoulders.
You can tell that story, being killed by Gargul is a big part of my story. Besides, if Gargul wanted it kept private he wouldn't have left his mark square in the middle of my head. However, that's also the reason I'd be careful to respect the gods in the article, next time he may be in the mood to bring someone back afterward.

Sesha smiles a little, reminiscing.

"It took a lot for me to decide that even pursing an adult relationship was okay. I was attracted to the mage priest, but not fully in love. Not yet. I don't even know when that happened."

She thinks a moment.

"I'm still incredibly young for my kind. To put it in perspective, it would be something like Restlin here dating a fifteen year old human in his twenties. Also, I aged quite a bit... to this point.. in a matter of hours. When the Chaos Bell pulled my party through it, I was still very much a child. Even by human terms, I was twelve."

She grins.

"Thats what the hard part was. Figuring out my age, surrounded by short lived noble races. I've figured out a lot in the few years since, but if Hook had interspecial dating laws, Restlin here might have been picked up by the authorities."

Bosk laughs at the mention of the Illithid. I remember that. The cursed thing was not even worthy a death by my blade. I pulled a rock hard fruitcake out of my bag and beat it with that before Restlin crushed it...I also had an old bet with someone who dared me to use it as a weapon. I figured beating a demi-god with it would make a better story than your run of the mill criminal.

As far as respecting the gods, everyone must remember that they are just like us in that they have friends and enemies as well. Should you overthrow a god they have thousands of followers and other gods who might choose to exact their revenge. You might also create an opening for an even more strict power to rise up in the ranks. As a general rule it is better to let the gods handle the affairs of gods.

When it comes to our other adventurers, the newer members had their own group before the gods brought us together. They might not have been Iron Adventurer's at that time, but their stories are are still an important part of our formation.

DM Hugh - The interview
Monday December 16th, 2019 1:28:27 AM

Tink brings up a fight they had with an interdimensional monstrosity attacking the Hooks where although Garret delivered the final blow, Tink was able to get to it, slow its fall and assume the landing pose all while being invisible.

Oewellian asks Tink, “Do you find being invisible the most useful status to have on a battlefield?”

Garret crashes into the room chewing on some stale bread looking like he just rolled out of bread. He asks Oewellian if the elf had heard about the times he road dragons and not the nice kind like Zane. Oewellian looks at the halfling, sniffs, puts on a polite mask and says “Well, there were some dry accounts in the historical texts from the archives, but I’d love to hear the tales from you in your own words.”

Restlin waves away the bath question, explains a little bit about his relationship with Sesha eluding to the adventure that culminated in her title being hers to elaborate on and then tells about the time they fought an Illithid demigod. He tells about how it would knock some of them out, they’d heal then it would wound them again before Restlin dropped an anchor feather token on its head and crushed it.
Oewellian says, “A feather token you say? Fascinating and what an unorthodox strategy. Did you use any other unusual means to prevail in other battles?”

Zane explains that he met the original group when he was on his way to Hook City from the monastery. He explains he fell down a hole and when he stopped sliding he was in a tomb with a group of adventurers and when he exited he was part of the Iron Adventurers. He also mentions the huge spider on the way in to the illithid battle.

Oewellian says to Zane, “Just how big was this spider? Have you encountered larger spiders since?”

Wyaar brings up the time Restlin tried slaying a dragon with a shaving razor but it turned out to be a good dragon.

Oewellian says to Wyaar, “could you elaborate more on that story?”

Beri gives Oewellian permission to leave the Gargul story in there.
Sesha explains it took a while for her to decide that persuing a relationship was ok. She doesn’t know when she fell in love with him. She also explains that she is young for her kind and that she aged quite a bit in a short time when interacting with the chaos bell and that it took her awhile to figure out her age surrounded by the short lived races.

Oewellian looks at Sesha with an odd expression on his face, he finally says, “Oh cousin I’m so sorry for you. I know that there exists a schism between my people and yours but to grow up as you did must have been difficult.”

He then says, “Do you want me to strike that scandalous bit about your age and Restlin from the record? Given this city it is possible in some corner somewhere there is some forgotten interspecies dating law and probably better not to chance it.”

He then says, “I don’t suppose you could tell us more about the Chaos Bell?”

Bosk elaborates on the Illithid encounter explaining he used some hard fruit cake as a weapon. Encourages the respect of the Gods by explaining they have friends and enemies too and lastly reminds that the newer members had adventuring groups before they joined the Iron Dragons.

Oewellian says, “Yes, Bosk raises an excellent point. For those of you who were parts of other groups besides the Iron Dragons what were some of your more memorable adventures from your other groups and how did your former groups compare to the Iron Dragons?”

Restlin narrows his eyes in mock aggravation with Sesha. "Lady, you were twice my age and had gone through a lot more in your life than I had. If anything you were robbing my cradle."

He leaves the story of the Chaos Bell for his companions. It was more their story than his.

"Unorthodox strategies? Well, there's this little guy..." Restlin digs around in his pack until he finds what he's looking for: a small rubber pig that squeaks when you squeeze it. "I named it Waddles. The Death Dragon Cult...guess we can talk about them now...had an intelligent asteroid they'd made named Soma. This pig used to be its nerve cluster. Its brain, basically. This spell's not supposed to be permanent, but magic's weird in Jericho space.

"We were in Jericho space, by the way. Not that you'd have an easy time flying an asteroid around on the Wold proper.

"As for that dragon, it was on my luck quest." For this, Restlin slips into storytelling mode.

"I'd gotten it into my head that I was gifted with good luck, so I got turned on to worshiping Wardd. I knew I'd have to prove myself, so I decided to go on a luck quest. One of the items I picked at random to take along was a straight razor.

"We met this blue dragon. He wasn't nice, but blue dragons rarely are. We made a deal that one of us would fight him one on one. At that point in our careers, it would have killed us all. Bosk or Zane stepped up to fight him, but the dragon said that he got to choose. So, he chose me.

"I hadn't thought this whole one-on-one thing was a good deal in the first place, so this made me pretty cross. I knew I was going to die; won't bother telling you otherwise. It was the most one-sided fight I've ever been in. Decided to go out true to the luck quest, though, and attacked it with this..." He walks over to the mantle and takes a wooden case from it. He opens it to reveal an unassuming razor. "Got one good shot in that bounced off his scales before he casually sliced me open and carried me off, very dead.

"Next thing I knew, I'm in his treasure room very not dead. Then this dragon has the gall to ask for a favor: it wanted me to fix his grandma. She was a gold dragon that had been turned into a gold fish. All it took was a greater dispel magic spell. Could have saved everyone a lot of trouble if he'd just asked up front.

"I did get to ride him, though. I think that puts me as the first dragon to do so. Also gave me Shiny here." He motions to the chromatic, gleaming sword on his hip. "Used to be an umbral blade. Helped a lot with that demigod I just mentioned, but it was a real bummer. Always going on about following me into darkness, calling me master, so I fixed it. It doesn't talk much, but it's always in a good mood when it does."

Two years ago, that changed right around this time of year actually, I was visiting the Giggling Ghost and opened up a random gift."

Crawling out of one of Zane's pouches on his belt, comes a fuzzy spider that climbs up onto his shoulder and sits there.

Later that night, long after this nosy reporter's gone, Restlin exits his room and descends. He climbs down the smooth stone steps he carved years ago, until they become rough and lead to the grotto Sesha calls home in the Iron Tower.

He'd pondered doing this at the Ghost, but quickly realized making it so public and thrusting Sesha unexpectantly into the spotlight wouldn't be her cup of tea. He announces his presence by clearing his throat and tapping on the cave wall. He calls on the rings if she's out of earshot.

"You know I dabble in jewelry as a hobby," he starts when she decides to acknowledge him. "Did you know I've spent years in every civilized destination we've gone to looking for flawless moonstones? Common ones are everywhere, and cheap. Flawless ones are very difficult to find." He produces a sandalwood box, well oiled with a golden hinge. He opens it, producing a small, platinum band with a single diamond solitaire surrounded by flawless moonstones. It's carefully designed to not snag on pockets or in pouches, and is sturdy enough to take several hits without scratching or breaking. It looks unassuming, but anyone with skill in appraisal or jewelry can tell it's worth a great deal of coin (in no small part due to it being a hand-crafted original made by everyone's favorite Iron Dragon). It also has 10 luck points stored on it.

"It took a while, and we've had a lot on our plates with saving everyone's lives. I think time may be on our side now, though." He kneels and presents the box. "So I'm hoping it's a good moment to ask if you'll do me the honor."

Restlin suggests it was actually Sesha that robbed his cradle before deferring the tale of the chaos bell to others. When asked about unorthodox strategies Restlin introduces Oewellian to waddles and explains it used to be the brain of a nerve cluster in a living asteroid in Jericho Space.

The mendicant then goes into more depth concerning the story of the dragon and the razor explaining that he was on a luck quest and had found the razor so when pitted against a dragon in single combat he figured he might as well test his luck. Luckily, it was all a ruse and the mendicant ended up in a treasure room where he could help the dragon by dispelling a curse that turned its gold gramma into a goldfish. The Mage Priest demonstrates he won shiny as a reward and also explains that he was actually the first Iron Dragon to ride a dragon.

Oewellian says, “Interesting. So did you folks get to go to Jericho space often in your adventures or even places stranger than Jericho space? Besides waddles wasn’t that trip where you guys picked up the Starblazer? And then later you acquired that other crystalline transport?”

Garret accuses Oewellian at not being that good of a story teller.

Oewellian looks at Garret and says, “I am a fine story teller and would direct you to the Hook City Herald back issues to see evidence of my skill. However, I’m not in story telling mode write now. I am in fact finding mode. I’m trying to make you guys look good as your Mage Priest friend Restlin asked me too. In order to make you folks look the best I’m trying to compile all sorts of interesting notes about your adventures. I am writing a noble / ignoble interest story about you all from your humble beginnings to the others who joined along the way. It will of course culminate in your saving of the Wold but I’m trying to pepper it with interesting points along the way. Now you mentioned you rode not nice dragons a couple of times. I have dry historical texts from the hall of records that talk vaguely about the times you lot have tangled with dragons but it doesn’t say on such and such date in such and such place Garret Goodbarrel wrestled a dragon or anything like that so if you want to elaborate on your dragon wrangling prowress now would be the time to do that and it can get added to the record.”
Zane explains he hadn’t adventured with other groups but he had went on walkabouts several times. He then explains that the body of the spider was 10 to 12 feet in length and 8 to 9 feet high with 12 foot long legs and that for a stint of time the Taur had made sure he got rid of all spiders in his vacinity at least until he opened up a gift of a fuzzy spider named Skitterz that rests on the his shoulder.

Beri explains that he too hadn’t been with other groups as he was with the Iron Adventurers from the beginning.

Oewellian says to Beri, “As a druid who has been adventuring with the Iron Dragons from the beginning was it especially hard to be based in this urban setting? I mean you folks obviously built this tower castle to suit your tastes as part of your dragon ceremony but before that when you were coming up and making your way in the world was it hard to feel that connection to nature in a magical city?”

Bosk elaborates the spider was large enough to swallow a taur whole.

Oewellian checks his notes and says, “Oh yes magical city; Do you have any memories or stories from your run-ins with the various magics, teucri artificacts, etc. this city happens to be home to? What of your run-in with the chit machine?”

Sesha watches Restlin quiety for a moment, then takes the moonstone ring from the box. She holds it up, admiring it. Then she looks down, and admires him.

Their whole relationship he had been perfect. When she needed space, he respected it. When she needed attention, he gave it. When no one else understood her impetuousness and anger, he not only understood it, but accepted it as a part of who she was.

She takes a knee, across from him, and slips the ring onto her finger. She places her hands in his, locking her slender fingers through his.

"I accept your token, Mage Priest, and will do you this honor. In return you have my heart, for as long as yours beats, and likely much much longer."

She smiles and stands, then retrieves a small cloth wrapped packet from under the pillows in her bedroll. She returns and offers it to him, unwrapped.

"It's a much more macabre trinket than yours, my husband, but I do wish you would treasure it. It quite literally nearly cost me my life."

The ring is quite clearly carved from bone, jointed in some areas, carved with dancing runes scrawled in undercommon. There is a small ruby set in what appears to be the divot of a knuckle.

"Red is the most ostentatious color I can think of, so it fits you Restlin. The ring itself.. well.", she hesitates for a bit, not entirely sure of her gift. "There was an old spell bloodwitches used to know, forgotten to us now. We could remove our own little finger, preserve it magically, and it served as a phylactery of sorts. Now that the old magic is gone and things are different, it serves no real purpose, but I still consider it important. It symbolizes my life, in a tiny, delicate way. So there's no one else whom should hold it, but you now."

She blushes a little, and looks up at the door. Closed, and secure.

"We've got some time, husband to the Matron of House Avon. And heirs don't produce themselves..."

Zane, the next morning, "I'll meet you all at the Ghost, I'm taking Starblazer and making a few stops, I might be late."
He packs a duffel and walks out on the "sternwalk" at his rooms level, where the ship and Dock also moors himself most of the time.
As he goes out, "Hey Dock, I'm headed out for a while, got a few stops to make, if you need me, just let the Tribe Leader know, she knows how to get a hold of me. Just becareful, oh, and I like that change at the prow, I think it makes you look more you." Zane says as he walks by to Starblazer.
"All ship shape Kip?, we got places to go." Zane yells as he approaches around the tower.
He tosses his duffel aboard and 3 of the Kobolds quickly grab it and start trying to drag it to his cabin.
"We're headed to The Brothers of the lotus and the Way of the Dragon, it's east along the shore about 40 miles or so." Zane says as Kip gives him one of those, WHERE? looks.
