Bastarge is still suspicious
Naithi is very excited to be leaving. As far as she can tell Murzush is being straight with the group.
Myre is very quiet and keeps her familiar down.
Zazu is very sneaky.
Lothlo is worried about patrol changes.
Ash trusts Myre’s guidance and wonders if she saw a pig.

The party moves quickly through the camp. There is indeed a few pig wandering about - the orcs bring them along as a roving food stock - maybe Myre stole one. It’s a full moon tonight giving everyone enough light to navigate by, a lucky coincidence (knowledge religion 10: Highlight to display spoiler: {or not - this celebration is always done on the first full moon of the year.}) As they reach the edge of the camp Murzush motions for the group to stay low and be very quiet. She leads them off in an odd direction, occasionally turning the party. A few of the party with good eyes may notice a patrol or two they pass over the next 45 minutes, but always at a distance - Murzush is a good guide and the notes Myre took were enough it seems.

Finally she stops and speaks. ”We’re clear. You take good notes Myre. Don’t celebrate too much though - slaves who relax at this point usually end up in the belly of wolves.”

Myre can see pretty well in the moonlight. Good thing these silly orcs get drunk and stupid during the full moon every year (Knowledge, 17).

"Waddles," Myre whispers back. "I'll introduce you two later." She turns her head to talk into her shoulder. "For now, he's going to be a good little piggy and stay hidden."

She is super pleased with herself when Murzush gives her praise, but indeed does not relax. She tries to get a feel for how long the trip to Culverwood is, but she never really paid attention to her geography lessons (know, geo: 6).

"Got it," she says quietly. "What's next then?"

Bastarge looks around (survival:9). He has no idea where he is. He looks around for other things moving and for any signs of a trap (perception: 22). He relaxes a little, but he's still not turning his back on that orc.

The moon is bright, no wonder they choose today to celebrate, much more time to stay up outside drinking! We should make haste, the more distance we can put between us and camp the more spread out their search and the lighter the force that tries to bring us back.

Lopthlo keeps an eye out behind them, ready to pull out his bow the moment it looks like someone is starting to catch up to them.

I carefully look about to make sure we are far enough from the camp that there is little risk of anyone on patrol overhearing before clicking my tongue three times in quick succession.

A moment later a large pair of fangs appear from behind a near by tree and leaps forward. My heart beats faster. Gods how I missed this. I scratch her ear and climb on Camalayaas' back. The dire rabbit's soft fur against my skin and the hum of her heart ground me and bring me peace.

Where are Fizzgig and Kashmir? A moment later a tiny fuzz ball launches itself out of the grass and lands in my arms, it's tongue smothering my in kisses, followed by a silky coated mule.

I briefly introduce them to the group. These have been my companions in all my journeys. The Wold's most loving Dire Rabbit, a guard dog that looks like a giant puffball with a face, and a mule that looks like it was more for its soft coat than it's ability to carry gear. I cannot help but think how much more comfortable and safe I'll feel sleeping between these guys again. (She likes viscous cuddly animals)

Reaching into my pack I toss Bastarge another small dagger. Was there anything else you needed?

Ash is in agreement with Myre and looks expentantly to Murzush "Where to from here?"

At the appearance of Naithi's menagerie, all she can think is that this group just gets weirder and weirder. This should be fun.

Ash does what she can to try and conceal any tracks that the party are making, but it likely won't be enough.

Myre says she’ll introduce Waddles later and wonders what’s next.
Bastarge looks around and relaxes slightly
Zazu stays sneaky
Lothlo comments on the moon letting people stay up and drink later and suggests speed.
Naithi calls her animal companions and introduces them.
Ash conceals their tracks as best she can.

Murzush is a little startled at the appearance of the animals but relaxes when Naithi introduces them. When she notes Ash’s efforts she shakes her head. ”A good notion, but useless. Lothlo is right; speed is our only friend now. The wolf riders will be able to track our scent anywhere short of a river crossing and there are no rivers between us and the woods. If we’re quick enough we can reach the elves before the wolves catch us.”

She proceeds to set a fairly brisk pace north and very slightly west away from the camp. Faster than any pace the orcs have set - it wouldn’t be too bad, except everyone is short on sleep and had been marching all week with only yesterday to maybe rest.

They march for about for hours before Murzush stops them for a brief food break.

"She's got a whole menagerie," Myre thinks to herself. She makes a mental note to ask Naithi if she can pet her...dog? Is that a dog? Well, whatever it is, she wants to pet it, but this isn't the time.

Myre is tougher than her slight build would indicate, but a nap sounds super nice right now. She eats the food they stole from the orcs before they left. "So, how many riders would they send after us, you think? There are 9 of us, and I imagine we'd put up a fight before we went back." She eats some more. "Do you think they're after us, yet?"

Bastarge takes the dagger and spins it, testing it's weight. He throws it and it sticks in a tree. He pulls it out and looks at it again. He says, "Thank you for this, this will do very nicely."

He keeps up quite easily with the quick pace (Con check: 18). When they stop, he looks and listens to see if there are followers yet (perception: 9), but sneezes.

Lothlo wolfs down his rations and is ready to head out as soon as possible. As tired as he is, the fear of being recaptured gives him enough adrenaline to keep going.
With a little luck they will send the riders out to find us before they figure out we managed to grab weapons on our way out. Murzush, what is the weapon of choice for the wolf riders? And if they do manage to overtake us, in your experience should we aim for the wolf or the rider? Would the wolves flee if we took out or knocked off the riders?

"I'm going to guess the riders they send out would be more focused on Murzush than on the escape of a few slaves. With that in mind, they're probably going to send a few and they'll be trained"

Ash sets to a few castings of Create Water to provide enough for the party to drink and cool down.

She does what she can to find some edible food in order to save the rations a little longer, but unless the party are prepared to eat rocks it proves entirely unsuccessful.

Myre wants to pet the puppy and wonders if they’re being pursued yet.
Bastarge likes the new dagger. If any pursuit was in sight it would probably be too late to evade them.
Zazu is looking forward to get to the culverwood.
Lothlo asks about the wolf rider’s preferences.
Ash creates water for everyone and points out the orcs might care more about Murzush then the slaves and only send out a few elites.

Murzush does her best to answer the questions. ”We won’t actually reach the woods before we find help - there’s a fort near the road we’re aiming for as it’s closer and there will be armed soldiers that can defeat pursuit. If we went straight to the woods it might take us hours or days to even find a village or town we could get help from. We’ll know when pursuit starts. They let their wolves howl to panic slaves and make them tire themselves out. They wield great scimitars and the wolves are as much if not more of a threat then the riders. Both will fight to the death even if their partner dies. I’d say focus the wolves first to limit their mobility.

As for how many, that really depends on how many riders are sober enough to -
She’s interrupted by a long, eerie howl. One that is echoed by several more voices. Cursing eloquently in orcish, she leaps to her feat. ”Why are they up so early?!? We should have had more time! Lets move, if we’re quick we can reach the elven fort before they catch us.”

Myre wonders if Murzush really believes that (sense motive: 17). Doesn't really matter, though, does it? She holds just a moment to count the howls, hoping to get an idea of how many were following them.

She has no way of knowing how far away those wolves are, or how far away this fort is. Her fate is entirely tied up in a former orc slaver and the hope that the fort is really there. For the first time since this started, she starts to worry. Being beat up by slavers is one thing. Being torn to shreds by them and their wolves? That's something else. She gets moving...

Zazu thinks about diving into the grass and hiding, but the open sky above and the fact that wolves got good noses makes that seem like a bad idea. However, it is a fine day for a sprint. Zazu starts running.

Lothlo takes off at a run. At least with the wolves making noise they can gauge how far away they, and can prepare to hold their ground should they not reach any soldiers in time. He tries to gauge from the wolf sounds how many may be chasing them.

Any chance you know a way we can send an SOS to any soldiers on the road? It may give away our location, but once those wolves find our scent and start following it that won't make much of a difference.

As we stop to prepare food I take out what is left of the Stealthy Leaf Wrapped Mystery Meat with Root Puree I made last night and eat as I let the cuddly mule graze.

I scratch Fizzgig's ear and whisper small meat. He understands and runs off to hunt, knowing to be quick and that he only needs enough for himself and Camalayaas. (Fizzgig has hunt as one of his tricks. Rolled a survival 24.)

I am shocked at how quickly the little guy returns. Either he was really hungry or there is a lot of game in the area. His half already eaten, he drops the remainder in front of Camalayaas who swallows it in one bite before returning to her grazing.

The sudden blast of the horn causes me to shudder. Fizzgig, defend me! I call out (Defend is one of his three tricks). His muscles tense under my hand as I set him down. Experience has taught me that he will run beside me and stand by me as danger approaches.

As our band of runaways takes off I tell Camalayaas to follow along with the group. For the time being I ride and save my energy in case the enemy catches up.

I am more familiar with the forests, but I have fought my share of battles. Keep an eye out for any place with a tactical advantage if they start closing in. Thickets with thorns. Difficult terrain, or an area that bottle necks them o. Dead grass that could catch fire. I would prefer it if we could get to the keep though .

Bastarge jumps up and runs.
Myre is pretty sure Murzush is being completely strait with the group. She also gets moving.
Zazu considers hiding but just runs instead.
Lothlo also runs and wonders about contacting the fort.
Naithi sends her wolf to hunt during the meal and is ready to take off with the rest.

Murzush does not take off running like everyone else. In fact, she starts yelling at them. ”No! Wait! Stop! You’re falling into their trap!”

She stands there looking stern, waving the group back to her. ”They howl as soon as they pick up our sent - meaning their four hours behind us back at the camp. The more they howl, the more their prey panics and runs, the more helpless they are when they catch up. Everyone take a deep breath, calm down, and we’ll march at a swift pace we can keep up for several hours like we were before our break.”

Despite her stern look she’s pale and shaking a little as she speaks, obviously as intimidated by the howls as the rest of the party. Even among the party experience in wolves it’s hard to say how far away the howls are - after all most wolves aren’t big enough to ride on. She may be right and they’re hours behind you, or they may be a few minutes away.

She nods. "Makes sense."

Myre walks at a brisk pace, keeping up with the group easily enough. She goes over her abilities in her mind, but can't figure anything useful to do until the riders are on top of them.

"Nothing to do but flee calmly for now, it seems." She muses a bit, realizing this is the most nervous she's ever been. It's exhilarating, but not in a great way.

Lothlo considers her advice. Before his imprisonment he could have kept running at a good pace all morning, but they've already been marching all night and enslavement has left his body worse for the wear. He slows back down to a swift march. He tries to come up with an idea to buy them some extra time as the march. He remembers how some of the hunters used to train their hounds to find animals that were chased into the trees.

I assume the wolves are following based on scent. If I put some of our rags on arrows and shoot them into the trees would that force the orcs to stop for a bit and make sure we aren't hiding in the branches?

Ash things to herself how odd it is she’s trusting an orc.
Myre concedes the point and starts to get rather nervous
Bastarge comments on how loud the sound is.
Naithi points out that there may be more than one pack hunting them and they might get enough of a lead to avoid the second catching up before they reach help.
Zazu slows down a little
Lothlo reflects he could probably run all day in the past and asks about shooting arrows into the trees.
Ash suggests setting up an ambush.

The first hour’s the worst - they howl every 10 minutes and even Murzush can’t stop herself from speeding up briefly each time. After that it becomes obvious they’re far behind, though catching up, and they howl less often, presumably more focused on speed since they haven’t caught up yet.

At Naithi’s comment Murzush misses a step. ”They’d never send two groups normally -they’d all come at once. But they might have rounded up the sober ones and sent them off while the others woke up.”

At Lothlo’s suggestion she looks incredulous. ”What trees? we’re in the middle of an open plain! It’d stall them two seconds while they found the arrow then moved on. You are indeed still in the Izen, and rolling grass extends as far as the eye can see.

The march continues for another couple of exhausting hours, through the few remaining hours of night and into the early morning. You look for a defensible position but it’s just a big open plain - the occasional small, solitary tree or slight change in elevation probably won’t help in a fight. The march is starting to take its toll - everyone must pass a DC 10 constitution check or be Fatigued. A fatigued character can’t run or charge and takes a penalty of –2 to Strength and Dexterity.

Murzush is starting to get worried. She stops the group. ”We should have arrived by now. Maybe it’s farther than I thought or we’re a little too far east or west. Some of you are locals right? Can you tell how close we are?”

Between the information the group got and what Murzush can provide it’d take a DC 10 knowledge: local or Geography check to see how close you are to the fort you’re aiming for.

Another howl rings out. It’s still impossible to tell how close they are, but they’re definitely closing in. They’ve been going off a couple times an hour, to remind you they’re still on the hunt.

Oh, but I do have a map of the area, Izen, and the Culverwood. Would those be useful?

Myre looks at the map, a latent memory stirring in her brain. It's not her memory, but it's a memory. Maybe it's Waddles' memory. Either way, she knows what's wrong.

"We drifted too far {insert direction here}. We need to go that way." Myre points off to the {insert direction here}. She hopes that fake memory was accurate.

Bastarge stops, bends over, and puts his hands on his knees. He gasps, "Too far. Too much." He takes another deep breath and looks back the way they came. "Can't go on much more." When Myre points in a direction, Bastarge looks at the map and says, "Yes, we're right there."

Hard to post on phone in a meeting, but Zazu is definitely fatigued. The rogue draws and loads a sling. And draws a dagger. And stumbles onwards.

Ash is quite confident that she knows the direction they need to head and the distance they need to go. Myre has the right of it too. Ash will add any extra info that Myre leaves out or isn't familiar with. Perhaps any upcoming changes of terrain, or fauna they may need to be mindful of.

She is still quite invigorated by the whole situation, and the adrenaline is keeping her body going surprisingly well. Unfortunately Ash doesn't have any spells that would help the rest of the party nor the physical strength to help keep them on their feet.

Naithi has a map and figures out where north is.
Myre figures out where they are.
Bastarge is feeling pretty tired and agrees with Myre’s conclusion.
Lothlo is also tired.
Zazu is the same.
Ash knows where they are and is doing pretty well but has no magic to help the rest.

The party is able to figure out that they’re really close. You could probably make it within the hour. Unfortunately it turns out they have about five minutes - a dust cloud is growing to the south which is almost certainly the pursuing wolf-riders. You have about 5 minutes to prepare.

A few minutes later the orcs pull up about 30 feet away. One of them speaks, ”Murzush. I always knew you would betray us. No one should have ever trusted you sorceress witch. Tell me, what other clan did you hope to escape to? It seems they’ve left you to the elves.”

Murzush moves to the front of the group. ”Thorg. You’ve always been stupid and ugly. I’m working with the elves - they will be here any second. You’d better run if you want to keep your head.”

”HA! Like they’d work with any orc. These slaves may have been stupid enough to believe you but I”m not.” he grins viciously as he looks at the rest of the party. ”Let me guess, she told you you’d all escape to the woods and live happily ever after. Oldest trick in the book to steal a pack of slaves and move up in a new tribe when you make a gift of them. Eliminate her for me and we’ll spare your miserable lives, else the lot of you will be food for our wolves.”

"Waddles, I think it's time to show these silly orcs we can do more than serve drinks." On cue, a small rubber pig floats out of her right shoulder and hovers there. It's not particularly threatening, but it's a little odd. When she reaches out to pet him an ugly, blue energy erupts from it and transfers to her hand. She waits a bit, while the orcs get closer. When they're about 30 seconds out, she grabs Waddles and squeezes it. A stream of grease squirts out of it's nostrils.

Preparation: cast chill touch & grease (should have 5 rounds left when combat starts)

Then, she waits until the orcs catch up and give their little speech. "Oh, we figured she might try that. We just like the odds of us versus her than us versus your whole tribe. I mean...duh." She rolls her eyes. "Anyway, the wold will be better off without any of you in it. Get melted." She points at Wr1 and a stream of acid sprays out from Waddles, smacking the wolf square in the face.

Standard: Acidic ray - Hit Nat20 (confirm 19). 2 damage (9 if crit).

Note that Zazu has crafting skill and pre-made traps along with. Granted they are intended to catch squirrels, rats, and mice. But since the elf has five minutes, Zazu tries to set a few up before the enemy arrives, pointing them out to friends so that no one will step into them.

As we make our last minute preparations I spot a cute pig making its appearance, but someone else has already befriended it. We will have to take the time to introduce our little friends later.

After an hour of waiting the nasty orcs arrive in a couple of tasty looking wolves. Those could feed if for some time...I quickly produce a magic flame and hold it in my hand.

Fizzgig continues to guard me and stays by side as Camalayaas, but I know that she will use her judgement and attack as she sees fit unless I command her.

I am surprised when a decision breaks out. Really? Like we are going to decide to go back with the orcs because they asked? Suddenly the pig attacks... Why couldn't I have seen it first. Fizzgig is trained. I could start training another animal now...

I follow the others lead and their my flame at the weakened enemy.

Lothlo pulls a Masterwork arrow from his quiver and waits for them to get within 30 feet so he can shoot them point blank. Taking a breath he rapidly shoots two arrows towards the oncoming targets.
He will aim for wolf 1 first, followed by rider one, and will continue right as enemies fall.
As the enemy approaches he reminds the others of the advice Murzush gave them.

Don't forget to choose carefully between the wolves and the riders when you attack. The wolves are likely more important to take down.

Orc 1 leaps off his dead wolf with an enraged bellow and charges - right into Zazu’s trap which trips him and makes him fall over.
Wolf rider 2 charges right through the grease (made it’s save) to attack Camalayaas. The animals bite at each other but both miss then the rabbit slashed by a scimitar for 8 damage.
Wolf rider 3 charges Bastarge, gets stabbed a little, then the wolf bites him for 4 damage. It tries to trip, but he stays on his feet.
Wolf Rider 4 charges Naithi and the orc slashes her for 9 damage
Wolf Rider 5 also charges Naithi. Both wolf and rider hit her and drop her

Murzush grimaces and says a hasty incantation. Fire flies from her hands engulfing wolf and rider 4 and 5. Rider 5 catches most of it, screaming and falling off his mount. The others are merely singed.

Myre lets out a low whistle as their savior(?) downs some orcs. She really hoped they wouldn't have to kill her later.

She takes a 5' step forward and gives Fizzgig a little pet. "She'll be ok, little one." To drive the point home, she hurls more acid at wolf 4, but just misses. She pouts a little, but stops short of stomping her foot down. It would be unbecoming, and she might hit Fizzgig by mistake.

Waddles looks at her, then slowly shakes its head disapprovingly.

It's warm, it's warm and it tickles as it makes its way down my body in small rivers of crimson red. What an odd sensation, I'm dying, but it feels warm and ticklish.

Suddenly a warmth washes over me and I feel my life force returning and my eyes begin to flicker open. I raise my hand up and rub Camalayaas' nose. Unable to return to the fight I cast entangle on as many of the enemies as I can and then climb properly onto Camalayass' back, prepared to jump off, away from anything trying to attack me

As I do this Camalayaas prepares to keep me out of harm's way and Fizzgig comes closer to continue guarding me.

Entangle:
This spell causes tall grass, weeds, and other plants to wrap around creatures in the area of effect or those that enter the area. Creatures that fail their save gain the entangled condition. Creatures that make their save can move as normal, but those that remain in the area must save again at the end of your turn. Creatures that move into the area must save immediately. Those that fail must end their movement and gain the entangled condition. Entangled creatures can attempt to break free as a move action, making a Strength or Escape Artist check. "Splendid," Myre responds. "Now, do we need to be worried about being sold to another orc tribe? I'm starting to like you, Murzush. I would be very upset if I had to rethink that."

Myre's tone isn't overtly hostile. She passed a knowledge check before the combat. Is she aware of an elven keep in the area Murzush is leading them to?

She's concerned about Naithi, but has no ability to care for her. Best she stay out of the way so her new friend can receive what aid she needs. She does reach down to reassure Fizzgig again. "See," she whispers. "Told you she'd be ok. You were very brave to protect her from that wolf."

Waddles floats over to stare Myre in the eyes. "Yes Waddles. You were very brave as well." This seems to placate the pig, who goes back to hovering above her shoulder.

You have me gratitude. My people say you cannot truly know someone heart until you have fought beside them, and now I feel I can trust you all.

Joining the conversation I add I thought we were going to the fort first and then to the forest. That would give us time to heal and resupply. What if the distance from the fort to the forest?

I quickly skin the wolves and gather to as much meat as I can and set aside the pelts, teeth and claws to prepare later. Hot long until we head out? I can quickly prep the meat to hold until later.

Wolf is a tough meat with a strong around and dominating flavor. I prefer a beer & red wine marinade using half dark beer and half strong red wine with ground black pepper, a slug of rock salt, and a small handful of juniper berries, rosemary, and bay leaves. I recommending marinating the meat, wrapping it inside a hide and cooking it at the fort.


After Lothlo gathers up his arrows I add them to my bullets and slowly begin the process of mending them. It is a slow process, but can easily be done while I sit comfortably on Camalayaas' back.

"Hey, you'd have done the same for me" Ash grins back to Naithi "I'll try and patch up some more of those wounds tomorrow". When she sees Naithi get a knife out to skin the wolves for hide and meat, Ash turns her back away. She's happy to eat the meat but doesn't like to watch the animals get skinned.

"We probably shouldn't stay too long. Either the one that fled will get back to the camp, or, they'll realise the riders are missing. Should we expect more to come, Murzush?"

Murzush said we were near enough to the guards before that we might make it before the hunters found us. That was hours ago, even if they send reinforcements now it will be too late to reach us before we get somewhere safe. Still, it's best not to press our luck let's load up anything useful they have on them and get out of here.

Myre is aware of the Elven keep and as they figured out earlier they’re within an hour of it. She asks if they’re about to be attacked and comforts the animals, real and rubber.
Bastarge wonders about waddles
Zazu loots the dead. They don’t have much - just 5 scimitars they were using, the studded leather they were wearing, and 250g between them.
Lothlo asks if they should finish off the last wolf. He remembers it was enchanted to be afraid - no telling if it’s still the spell or the death of it’s comrades affecting it.
Naithi thanks Myre and Ash, declares her trust of the group, and points out they’re going to the fort first. She gets the meat she can from the wolves and explains how to best eat it.
Ash says they shouldn’t stay long.
Lothlo points out they’re to close to safety to worry about further attacks.

Murzush grunts at Myre’s question. ”If I was going to betray you it would have had to be hours ago, not on the doorstep of the fortress. I kept my word, and soon you will have to do the same. Vouch for me to the elves. If you don’t they will kill me without a second thought.
Lothlo has the right of it; we’ll be there within the hour. The woods are a few hours past it.”


The party finishes patching up and packing up the wolf meat and heads out. Within minutes they sight the road. 20 minutes later a band of elves in full approach cautiously. Their helmets conceal expressions, but they have their hands on weapons. One speaks, a woman’s voice, ”Identify yourselves.”

"This is Waddles," Myre says, answering Bastarge's query. "It's a friend," is all she gives in way of an explanation. Her dad told the story about turning Soma into Waddles to half the Wold. She's not keen on giving away her lineage just yet.

She questions the wisdom of skinning the wolves, but Naithi seems pretty quick about it. She watches out of curiosity, then decides it's probably not a hobby she'll be taking up. Pretty fur, though.

Myre is genuinely relieved when the elves appear. She smiles at Murzush before speaking up.

"We're escaped slaves. This orc helped free us and guided us here, just like she said she would. We promised to vouch for her, so that's what I'm doing. Please don't kill her." She pauses, then speaks up again. "Oh, and I'm Myre. I'm very happy to see all of you."

Bastarge looks around when Myre mentions Waddles. He walks over to Waddles and looks closely at it. If it is still floating, he pokes it to see what happens.

When the group sees the elves approaching, Bastarge considers hiding for just a moment. Then he remembers the orc and figures that will end up not very good. He nods when Myre introduces the group. He tries to agree with Myre and support what she's saying, but instead he stumbles over his words and says, "Me Wadd... no, not Waddles, me Bastarge."

Zazu hands around the armor and scimitars to carry so everybody has a fair share, holding onto the 250 gp in a pouch made out of a dead orc's shirt.

The rogue salvages what is possible of the traps laid before, and then is glad to walk with new friends on the way to the elf fort.

Lothlo looks at himself in rags, then at his fellow escapees. Then looks back at the fully armed guards. Of all the things they may think about this group, being an actual threat probably isn't one of them.

I'm Lothlo Windwood, I was enslaved when a group of orcs raided a tavern in Izen. I'm part of the group here that managed to escape... but just barely. About 20-25 minutes in the direction we came from you will find some of the slave drivers that were trying to chase us down. The full encampment is probably half a day's march from here.

Murzush was part of the orc band, she helped us escape last night. As Myree said, we vouch for her. She has been true to her word in helping free us, and put herself in incredible risk in doing so... do you mind if I sit down while we talk? I'm afraid the orcs don't treat their slaves well, and I'm more than a bit fatigued after all that's happened.

I gratefully accept me share of the spoils, though the scimtar is taller than I am and makes me look like something out of a story book.

When the elves approach I scratch Camalayaas ear as I respond. I am Naithi of the Drochil clan and this is my companion Camalayaas, the fluffy one is Fizzgig, and that guy there is Cuddly Mule. I was captured by the orcs and forced to fight for their entertainment until Murzush helped us escape. I think she was more property than slave... They don't treat us women well..

I point to Murzush as I speak and am overly conscious of the fact that while I say women I more closely resemble one of their children than an adult.

Ash looks to the others and then to the elves. They only asked for identification after all.

"Ash Silverkin" she answers, raising her hand in a half-hearted wave/greeting "So where are you folk from? Anywhere nearby where we could rest a while?"

She doesn't take any threatening actions as far as she can tell. The party look completely outnumbered.

Myre introduces Waddles to the group, then the group to the patrol.
Bastarge considers hiding and gets a little flustered.
Zazu passes out loot.
Lothlo looks at the party and reflects on how threatening they are. True they are in rags, but they’re also armed and armored over the rags and have clearly just seen battle. He explains the situation diplomatically.
Naithi talks about herself.
Ash asks where the elves are from and a place to rest.

The Elves relax a little. The leader says to the group, ”Escaped slaves then. Not uncommon, though usually only slavers count orcs among the group. We will escort you to the fort where you can rest and recover. Your weapons will be taken at the front gate and returned when you leave. Is there further pursuit our patrols might be engaged by?”

Murzush stays quiet, letting the others take the lead.

Waddles wobbles a bit as Bastarge pokes it. The pig rights itself, then boops the gnome right on the nose. It can't make facial expressions of any kind, but manages to express its indignation. Myre flicks it lightly behind the ear. "Be nice, Waddles. These are our new friends." It sinks a little, riding directly on her shoulder.

Myre smiles. It will be nice to rest and recover. She's not satisfied that Murzush will be safe, though.

"Including Murzush here? We owe her our lives, or at least our freedom. It would be unbecoming of us to not ensure her safety.

"As far as patrols, not that we're aware of. Murzush says we were lucky only 4 riders came after us. There was some big revelry last night, so most of the encampment is probably still hung over. We haven't heard any additional howls from any more riders, but I'm hardly an expert on these things."

Bastarge looks confused when the small pig bounces into his nose! He shakes his head, then a grin spreads across his face. His mind is whirring with possibilities for things involving a small, floating pig.

He looks back at the elves and agrees with Myre, "I don't see anyone following us right now, but a few minutes ago, well, we took care of that patrol."

Zazu watches the floating pig thing.

Then the elf's head shakes. "There might be more behind us," Zazu mentions to the elves. "Listen for the howls."

Looks around, but not just for pursuers -- Zazu has the oddest feeling that something is seeking, searching, something not all that far away.

"Do you often have problems with orcs around here? There's quite a few of them" Ash has a vague idea of how many orcs there were and is curious how safe they might be at the fort. Well. It is a fort after all, so she thinks she'll be pretty safe.

Lothlo hears of the fort and dreams of a full belly and a chance to bathe soon fill his head.

That sounds more than fair, I'm almost too exhausted to shoot at this point anyway. As far as further pursuers, Murzush would know best, but I assume nobody else will follow us. We had enough of a head start that by the time the realize their hunting party isn't coming back they'll know we would have slipped beyond their reach.
