The fighter pulls 5 potions from his Haversack, "They are not much, but takes these Cure Serious Wounds draughts and give them to your team."

Barratore cannot do much else. Staying nearest the breaches with the ramps seems like the best option.

NORTH

Tishe' dimension doors out directly to the enemy in sight, positioning her friends so that with just a five ft step, they are flanking.

Edson hits with two sneak attacks against the AC26 foe. He inflicts 43+38 = 81 damage.

Lanliss has not acted!

Back at the city wall, Barratore hands out a few much-needed curing potions, and the Skullheads put them to good use. "Are we done, do you think, Sir Barratore?" asks Sister Wendy.

CENTRAL

Velarin devotes himself to a blasting solution, hammering at his enemy's weakest save! He makes the first save and fails the second. That's 91 more points inflicted, plus 84 last rounds is 175 hp damage total.

Draco-Emrys uses a Heroic Heal to cure his damage and his blindness. Then he casts a quick buff and attacks with his draconic natural weapons!

[OOC: Your Busy DM also plays a polymorphic Woldian Witch with the Plant Domain, and IMNSHO the wooden fists do not stack with natural attacks. The domain power says, "While you have wooden fists, your unarmed strikes do not provoke attacks of opportunity, deal lethal damage, and gain a bonus on damage rolls equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum +1)." Your natural weapons are not unarmed attacks, so, nope. Sorry. I'm reducing your damage per attack by 6 on average. Hope that's ok.]

Of Emrys's attacks, only those that strike AC26 land true. That's two claws, a bite, and a wing, for total 25+27+15+13-24=56 damage, 231 hp damage total.

That's more than enough! The Enemy Caster falls dead!

THE ENEMY - NORTH

The Leader-From-The-Rear calls out aloud in pain as Edson attacks! Two incorporeal undead rise up out of the ground, attack, and then retreat back underground via Flyby Attack. Flying away provokes an AoO as each spirits leaves a threatened square. But I do not think Tishe' is armed? You have to be armed to take an AoO.

These undead have the appearance of mermaids swimming through rock and air as if it were water; but their swim is actually perfect flight. these spirits have the appearance of a thing that has rotted underwater, but partly see-through. One attacks Edson and one attacks Tishe', hitting Edson's Touch AC21 with a 11, and Tishe's Touch AC26 with a 28.

Edson, take 5hp cold damage, and your lungs fill with water. You also get an AoO as the spirit sinks down into the earth.

Tishe', take 1hp cold damage, and your lungs fill with water. No AoO, right?

Drowning. If your lungs are filled with water, you are in danger of death by drowning. You must make a DC10 Con check. If you fail the Con check, you are drowning: you fall unconscious (0 hit points). In the following round, you drop to –1 hit points and are dying. In the third round, you suffocate and die. If you make the Con check, you can act freely, but at the start of your next round you must make the check again, with the DC raised by 1. It almost goes without saying, but you need to clear your lungs!

As for the Enemy-From-The-Rear himself, the armored Sahuagin casts on the defensive, rolling a 34 to avoid AoOs, and casts Charm Monster on Lanliss! Lanliss, please make a Will Save vs DC23, but you get a +5 on the save because he is an enemy. IF YOU FAIL, the caster shouts, "Save me! My friend! This is all a mistake!" Lanliss, please act as you would if your dear friend were being attacked by Tishe' and Edson!

He ends with a five ft step out of flanking, towards Lanliss. If Lanliss is charmed, he no longer serves as a flanking partner.

Draco-Emrys reaches down and grabs up the body of the dead cleric into his huge claw. He holds him firmly, not allowing his arms or legs to dangle free, keeping him in a bound. Emrys mutters a few words of divination. He stares down at the dead cleric intently, fighting the urge to bite it's head off cleanly from its body. He allows his spell to reveal what it knows.

(Emrys casts Detect Magic and focuses on the cleric's body.)

"This one is the tricky sort. I wouldn't put it past him to have a contingency spell in place."

Tishe’ has her quarterstaff, but it is a no magical two handed weapon, and is useless. Cold strikes, but she is strong, and remains conscious, coughing water. ‘What creature is that?

As there are no enemy near Lanliss, only friends (magical or otherwise), Tishe’ is confident Lanliss didn’t strike at her, and would have missed in any case. She takes a 5 foot step away and then rises into the air 30’ up. She thinks to the Keepers, Armored spellcaster outside north wall with undead mermaid guards. Attacking with Lanliss and Edson’

Barratore takes a breath and snorts once as he looks north. "Not likely Sister Wendy. Though perhaps your part in all of this is. We are considering moving the people away from here and if so, they will need protection while The Keepers finish this matter. I can think of no one I would rather have protecting them and my home."

Telepathically Barratore almost sighs, he knows but does it anyway. 'On my way.'

The fighter activates his Torc, providing a Haste spell, taking a few strides for speed, he then leaps from the wall.

Edson begins choking on the water.. for a split second. (Use hero point to pass second roll).

He figures this is probably it. He doesn't see him lasting long with full lungs.

Edson rolls the 5 feet to prevent an attack of opportunity on him. (Acrobatic 51, nat 20). He rolls so he stays in flanking on the sahugain.

Charmed, Lanliss lashes out at his friends, but misses!

Tishe' with filled lungs, dispels the charm. She tries to identify these unusual aquatic undead ... A Know Religion check vs DC22 is needed ... but only rolls a 18.

Now that he can flank with Lanliss, Edson tumbles with filled lungs, and with a sneak attack critical, kills the enemy Sahuagn!

Barratore races over to his friends. He will have to run for a round to get there.

Velarin and Emrys confirm that the Enemy Caster is really dead!

The two incorporeal undead, no longer bound to serve, fly away.

There are no more enemies left to battle, but Edson and Tishe' still have filled lungs and are in danger of drowning. If your lungs are filled with water, you are in danger of death by drowning. Lanliss looks at them trying to figure out how to help them.
He knew how to swim, but his friends were in grave danger.

Emrys grins and says, "this wretched bottom feeder is dead!" However, his celebration is short lived.
Upon hearing Lanliss' talking to Tishe and Edson, he replies, "Lanliss ... what's wrong with Tishe and Edson?"

Emrys quickly turns to Velarin and asks, "Do you have another teleport? I am all out."

IF Velarin doesn't have a teleport, he offers the wizard a ride on his back. Draco-Emrys then takes to the air, with the dead cleric still in his claw, and races off to the north side where the rest of the Keepers are located. (120ft x4 = 480ft)

Tishe’ gulps, spews cold seawater, and heroically overcomes the magical drowning... for now. ‘Is it woven by magic, curse, or poison? We don’t have thread enough to see the pattern. We are DimDooring back to the North Wall, Keepers, meet us there’, she thinks through the Keeper link.

She flies down to Edson, Lanliss, and the dead Sahaugin. “Look for treasure on the Sahaugin”, she tells Lanliss, “and the ring on my left hand has a Breath of Life spell just in case My thread is cut.” Touching all three, she DimDoors to the top of the North Wall where the Wasp Swarm was.

Lanliss, a skilled swimmer, recalls that when a swimmer wants to administer first aid to a drowning victim, a heal check is what you use.

Tishe' remains conscious only through another heroic effort! But it is enough, and she dim doors herself, Edson, and Lanliss back to the town wall.

Sturdy Edson stays awake, but for how long! This water in his lungs is a huge problem!

Barratore races races back to meet his his friends -- he ends move with Tishe', Edson, and Lanliss. He sees that Edson and Tishe' are striggling to stay conscious.

Velarin and Emrys fly 480 ft closer. Another couple rounds will get them to the scene.

There are no more enemies left to battle, but Edson and Tishe' still have filled lungs and are in danger of drowning. If your lungs are filled with water, you are in danger of death by drowning. You must make a DC12 Con check this round. If you fail the Con check, you are drowning: you fall unconscious (0 hit points). In the following round, you drop to –1 hit points and are dying. In the third round, you suffocate and die. If you make the Con check, you can act freely, but at the start of your next round you must make the check again, with the DC raised by 1.

Let me emphasize that you have yet to figure out how to clear your lungs ... But at least Lanliss is working through some ideas.

Barratore looks on concerned and quickly goes through his heal and triage skills on drowning. Step 1, get them out of the water. OK done. Step 2, get the cleric, step 3 get the druid, step 4 get the witch. Having exhausted his assistance.

Where is Sister Wendy, maybe she can help

Barratore gives a bellow for the Skullheads and Sister Wendy in particular

As an after thought he deactivates his Haste.

Draco-Emrys continues to fly and top speed. He ponders the spell they described and sees the similarity to his Suffocation spell ... one of his most deadly and insidious necromancy spells. He shares that with the others over mental speak.

"That spell sounds very much like a necromancy that I'm familiar with ..." and he offers what information he knows about the spell and the kind of undead who employ it.

Lanliss has the right idea, but he is just not a healer.

But sometimes it is the simple solutions that work best. Not a heal check or water breathing or planar adaptation or remove curse or a wish! Tishe' just concentrates on doubling over and COUGHING OUT the blasted water! And that works fine!

Tishe' is in no danger of drowning, and earns a hero point for doing what needed to be done!

Now it is just up to Edson to follow her example!

Tishe’ stands and beams at Lanliss while wiping her mouth, “I wouldn’t have thought to do that if it weren’t for your shady suggestion, thanks sweetie!”

She then turns to Edson, “C’mon sweetie, stay awake and cough that water out! No one’s gonna cut your thread yet. Cough it out, spew it out, waaAAY OUT!”, she chants.

Tishe’ prepares to help him if Edson falls unconscious by some mundane healing help.

Hearing that Tishe' had found the solution to the problem, V hops from Emrys' draconic back and heads to the mansion and portal at full speed.

"Sounds like things are relatively in hand. I'm heading back to make sure the portal and mansions stay secure. We don't need any last minute trickery undoing all we have done."

Tishe’ feels better now that all the Keepers are safe from imminent death. She moves to the Skullbreakers to see to their needs, both physically and mentally, and generally checks morale. Keeping the other Keepers in the loop, she talks and thinks.

“We beat their best attempt at taking Effacia, and I Hope did irreparable damage to their capabilities. Of what we fought, they should only have their General, 2 high level mages, and one Dragon Turtle left along with whatever number of undead their lesser clerics can control. In fact, I hope the slaying of the Undead Controller means they are now facing a bit of a civil war under the waves!”

“The North Wall is still the most vulnerable with the two stone ramps. Sieur Valeran, we should have a team stay here while a talking team seek out the Queen and leaders for a discussion. I don’t think we should urge evacuation if they want to stay. After all... we won!”

"We won so far Tishe', but it might not be over. The walls and gate are severely weakened, and most of our spell casting ability is shot. I'll feel a lot better once I've rested and recovered my spells. On the morrow, I'll memorize a couple disintegrates to to remove the ramps on the north wall. If they don't return, we need to begin repairing or fortifying the damaged walls and gate."

"But I do agree that we should speak with the Queen. We need to keep eyes on the walls for incoming hostiles. we don't even know if any of the soldiers and city guard survived. 2 of the spell casters should go speak with the queen, the other four of us should each take a wall and watch for trouble until the city can get people that still live back in place."

Draco-Emrys arrives on the scene ... eventually .... and immediately changes back to his own supernatural form. He begins to hand out the cure spells to those in need.

Barratore is not entirely sure the front gate is weakened. Everything over there seemed to be a multitude of illusions. The gate should be inspected for actual damage. Barratore will happily stand at the north wall.
He suggests that the group prepare to pursue and end the threat to Effacia.

Not necessarily to destroy them all, but to force a surrender and peace.

Unsure about the -1 Con from the Cloudkill
