If there are no strenuous objections he sets off with his feline to follow the animal trails and see what they can catch. He makes sure not to stray too far from the camp (stays within a mile of camp).
Anything edible caught is shared with the group.

Mak looks for possible defensible locations, with a soldier's eye
Kiwina finds a good spot, one that is mostly defensible is off the game trail but near it.
Falco helps Kiwina find a good spot.
Rolth mentions the game trail is not a good place to camp.
Elyas enjoys the walk.
Tsak tries to hunt, but only succeeds in catching a couple of small rabbits.
You all set up camp, it is done swiftly and efficiently as you are used to. It's not long before you all settle down for a rest.
The first watch passes without incident.

Travelling with an army had ill prepared Mak for this type of movement. He'd no need for hunting because there was always someone else of lower rank to do that. The same could be said for choosing a campsite. Certainly an officer had to bless the site and he'd had to direct one of those into the correct choice strategically on more than one occasion, but he'd never chosen a site himself or tried to before now.
One thing he had learned since joining up with these heroes was to keep your weapons close when sleeping. That hard won wisdom had stuck with him and if an alert went up on second watch he'd have his armor on and weapons at hand to deal with any threat threat.
But first, he slept.

Falco starts when he hears movement and then detects the scent of brimstone. Attempting to move quietly Falco moves though the camp to quietly wake first Rolth and then Mak. {Stealth: 17+2 vs animals} As he moves he readies an arrow as well.

Tsak hears something moving and smells brimstone!
He grabs a pot from the cooking fire and starts banging it with a stick, the cacophony should be loud enough to wake all the petals. Wake up, we've got company! Up and at 'em Petals!
He then hefts his sword and moves to the edge of the camp site, trying to clear his vision from the light sources behind him.

The whole camp is awoken from sleeping by Tsak's cacophony with the pot, Rolth and Mak were awakened first, and silently by Falco.
The banging noise also seems to cause whatever it was to move to come out of the darkness, and before you all you see Ten Hellhounds come stalking out of the night, thankfully, because of Tsak and Falco, you are all awake when they enter the camp, allowing you to respond immediately rather than be blindsided.
They are currently all surrounding your camp in a semi circle from one direction. The camp itself is forty feet across, and they are approaching from the direction you were moving in. Currently Tsak is within ten feet of them, and Falco and Mak are at the back of the camp, the rest of you can decide where you are. You are all awake, and standing, (so no need to get up) but only have the gear you were either sleeping with on, or any weapons that were next to you (nothing in backpacks or stowed in other places in the camp.)
The Hellhounds let out a roaring bark as they approach, now that their element of surprise is gone.

Falco searches for the furthest hellhound he can make out and starts to whisper. "Warper-sar take its sight. Take its hearing."
He feels the energy come from his source as it flows out of him at the hellhound.

Kiwina picks up his rod, which changes as he moves. Longspear in hand, Kiwina takes a place beside Tsak. As he does so, he asks the aumakua to slow the hounds.

Mindful that these things breath great bursts of flame, but unsure of how far that might reach, Rolth hangs back a bit (20 feet) from the front line of Kiwina and Tsak and starts to chant a traditional wemic war chant.
