Emrys adroitly catches the cube.
Velarin is ready to move through the gate quickly, holding hands.
Tishe’ suggests programming their current location into the emerald cube.
Galaden pressed side “1” to go home. You do not know what sides 2 or 3 are keyed to. I will assume a side is touched before you enter, but tell me which side. (Sides 4-6 clear the location of their opposite sides.)
Edson complements Emrys and prepares to enter Koshe Marr.
Barratore boldly joins in.
Once you enter the motionless gray mist, hand in hand, there is little doubt that you have truly entered a different reality. There is no evidence of anything beyond the all encompassing fog. It is so thick that you can barely see your hand at the ends of your arm. To your feet it feels like you are stepping on paved stone, but neither your eyes nor even your ears can confirm this. The fog is so heavy and thick, that beyond obstructing sight, it dampens sound as well. And sound is not all that is dampened. You immediately feel the cold clammy grip of this murky fog. In the fog, Tishe' feels especially constrained. After many years of adventuring, she has overcome her claustrophobia about forests, and her fear of water. But this seeping fog seems to have the drawbacks of both, unseeing and liquid; and in TIshe's earliest adventures, open liquid meant death.

It appears this DM jumped the gun a bit on getting you into the fog. Here are your initial impressions of the fog and a bit more.
As you pass through the gateway, you enter a gray void. There is no evidence of anything beyond yourselves and the ground you stand on: nothing to see; nothing to hear; nothing to smell. The last person to exit the gate can barely see through into the realm of shadow you left behind. After a little more time has passed, rather than closing again, the entire gateway arch...silently disappears.
Completely immersed in fog, there is no doubt that you have truly entered a different reality. It is so thick that you can barely see your hand at the ends of your arm. To your feet it feels like you are stepping on paved stone, but neither your eyes nor even your ears can confirm this. The fog is so heavy and thick, that beyond obstructing sight, it dampens sound as well. The scraping of Barratore’s sword is only audible, and barely so, to those in front. And sound is not all that is dampened. You immediately feel the cold clammy grip of this murky fog. Almost immediately, you feel it seep into your clothes and, yes, even into the very pores of your skin.
With no landmarks, no visible sun in the sky, no stirring of wind, and no longer a gate to reckon off of how will you proceed?
Please confirm a marching order and a distance between individuals. Are you single file, etc.?

You hear a heart beat. It starts out sounding normal then increases in both intensity and speed. After beating hard and fast for several seconds, the beats begin to slow and soften. Eventually, the beats slow such that the time between each one stretches to seconds. After about a minute of this, they fade entirely. Barratore waits, and waits and waits. It was something he had not done in a long time, but it was something Metascar had told him long ago. [i]When presented with no good course of action, sometimes the best action is inaction. He could not smell anything and nor did he hear the old woman, but he did hear the laughter and one thought came to him at it's sudden appearance and disappearance. The Harrowed Moon is a safe location, almost placed out of reach of the powers here and it made a small amount of sense then, that if a party was occurring inside, one would not hear it outside unless a door opened and then of course the sound would vanish when the door closed. Unfortunately, Barratore did not know where the sound came from so he still had no direction.

Note that if the first save was made, this saving throw will be at -10. The effect of this howl is NOT additive to that of the first howl. To summarize: both saving throws made (second one at -10 penalty), then the penalty is -10; one or more saving throws failed, then the penalty is -20.
As the second howl ends, a rush of motion appears out the fog from every direction. Large black furred wolves, amber eyes aglow with a malevolent intelligence, burst forth from the enveloping fog, jowls drooling in anticipation of tearing into their prey.
Three wolves attack Barratore in the front. Two attack Edson, one from each side. Two attack Lanless from the rear, his flank partly shielded by a large tree. Two attempt to attack the middle of the column from each side.
Those rushing the casters, crash head on into Emrys’ spell in mid leap. Each one ricochets off the transparent barrier, bouncing off and tumbling to the ground, before quickly leaping back to their feet. Their eyes seem to glow in enhanced antipathy at being thwarted.
Barratore, take an attack of opportunity at W1, W2, W3, W4, and W5 versus versus DC 23.
The three leaping at Barratore pass leap through his reach to strike. Due to the effects of the crippling fear, one of them are able to hit. but none of them manage to get through his defenses. To hit 20, 31, and 18. Barratore one hit for 25 points damage
Two lunge at Edson, one from each side. One manages to sink his teeth into Edson’s thigh, latching on and flipping the elf to the ground. Taking advantage of his downed foe, he bites for the throat, connecting with his vicious bloodied jaws. His pack mate on the other side similarly lunges in and grabs a hold of the tripped adventurer, tearing into dripping fangs into him as well. Edson lies on the ground bleeding from the wolves’ rending bites. To hit 18 and 38. CMB 29 to trip, then AoO to hit 44 (a critical confirmed) and by the other wolf 32. 29 points, 73 points, 35 points 137 points damage total to Edson.
At the end of the line, Lanliss is attacked by two wolves himself. One latches on, pulling him to the ground. Both wolves threatening him rush in to take advantage of him being prone. Due to the fear effects, one is able to connect, tearing at his flesh with its slavering jaws.[ii]To hit 32 and 18; AoO: 22 and 25 CMB 37 to trip. Lanliss feels the intensity of wolf howl. It made him fear greatly, almost in a panic. Only to hear another howls that scared him. This panic growing. It made him scared more than anything. "It was all set".."They knew", he says, putting his hands on his hands, 'They knew', he thinks. Everything is going so quickly. Only to see the two menacing wolves attacking gruesomely.

Lanliss is overcome by the howl induced fear and does not respond to the rending received from the two wolves that attacked him.
Emrys tries to resist the terror of the howls, but finds he cannot call upon the reserves he used to be able to. Despite this, he heals Edson.
Tishe’ is overwhelmed by the howls, but soldiers on, casting slow on the attacking wolves and Rainbow Pattern on the two threatening Lanliss.

Velarin, overcome with fear, lashes out with lightning, then fire. Not a single target survived. The quickened fireball is not needed, so it was not cast.
Edson is healed by Emrys and guarded by Barratore's shield.
After the heroes' onslaught of steel and magic, more wolves lunge in, filling the gaps left by their slain pack mates, apparently unaware or unconcerned about the devastation that greeted them.
Two attack Barratore in the front of the column and two attack Lanliss at its rear. The fog seems to work in the heroes favor, as those charging into the sides did not see their predecessors’ interaction with the antilife shell. They, too, bounce off of it, having to recover their footing.
The two attacking Barratore move in cautiously, the first one latches hold of the warrior’s thigh, pulling him off balance and to the ground. It and the other take advantage of their off balance prey and lunge in for another attack. To hit AC 28 and 34, then AoO to hit AC 29 and 31. With the AC penalty from the howl, all four attacks hit for 29, 35, 32, then 34 points of damage, a total of 130 points of damage to Barratore. The two attacking Lanliss also move in cautiously, attacking the still prone elf. Both latch on rending their prey. Emrys is hopeful ... everyone is still alive! Maybe he has time to finally release everyone from this choke hold of fear that is strangling the party. He quickly casts a necromancy that creates spectral slashes across his wrists and arms.
(Emrys casts Quickened Surrender Blood, enhanced by Quicken Spell metamagic. -20 hitpoints, +4 caster level on next spell.)
Emrys turns a sickly pale and slumps over slightly. He regains his stance and then casts another potent spell.
(Emrys casts Miracle and duplicates Remove Fear as a 9th level spell. Caster Level: 23. Range: close. Duration: 10 minutes. Targets: One plus one additional creature per four levels. Which should be enough for everyone. Effect: You instill courage in the subject, granting it a +4 morale bonus against fear. If the subject is under the influence of a fear effect when receiving the spell, that effect is suppressed for the duration of the spell.)

Invisible Edson sends all 4 arrows scattered into the oblivion. " Im just not sure of myself... if I can do it or not."
Lanliss Drakeguard Michael A; AC: 36 (T 19, FF 18), CMD:31 HP:95/220 d20+28=34 ; d20+23=35 ; d20+8=16 ; d6+9=15 ; d6+9=15 ; d6+9=14 ; 10d6=29 ; 10d6=31 ; 10d6=36 ; Wednesday September 9th, 2020 10:21:18 PM
Lanliss attack the wolf (#19) fiercely with rapier doing 3 rapid piercing moves to vital spots in the wolf body.
[OOC: My friends, Freedom of Movement is a fine spell, especially against grapples, but note that it does not prevent AoOs when you stand from prone, nor does it help prevent trip attacks. Just saying.]
Velarin uses two lightning bolts this time! Targetting Wolves 13 and 16, the bolt sparks! This time both wolves dodge the first blast for half damage (saves 28 and 29), then fail the second. That's 72 damage! Both are deeply wounded!
Barratore activates his Freedom of Movement and stands. That provokes an AoO that Wolf 16 is willing to take. It hits the taur for 31 damage! Wolf 13, at exactly 0 hit points, hesitates. Barratore is no longer prone.
Tishe readies a magic missile. for when Edson is attacked, but he is not targeted this round.
Emrys pulls a miracle out of thin air and suppresses the wolves' howl effects!
No longer bothered by the howls, Edson finds his arrows hitting home after all! Please roll four arrow damages and call your targets in addition to your regular stuff next post!
Lanliss pierces Wold 19 twice! That inflicts 30 damage. [OOC: Not seeing the sneak attacks applying here, unless you are invisible or something?]
THE WOLVES!
Wolf 12 is confused, and with a roll of 17, acts normally. Alas, it is constrained by the tight quarters, and cannot get to a foe. It uses total defense.
Wolf 13 is at exactly 0 hit points, and so it withdraws.
Wolf 16 attacks Barratore. It's bite, at +14, hits AC23, a miss.
Wolf 18 is confused, and with a roll of 35, it does nothing but whimper.
Wolf 19 is confused, but it is under attack, and so it attacks its attacker. It rolls to hit AC25, which misses Lanliss.
Wolf 20 is confused, and with a roll of 94, it attacks one of its pals, and misses.

"It seems like all the wolves are confused, except for the one Barratore is about to cut in half. Let's try and focus on one at a time without burning through too many more resources. That will let the confusion still play out on the ones that we don't yet attack. The one attacking Lanliss is already wounded. let's start with him, and when he goes down we can focus on the next."
V will start it off by throwing a set of magic missiles at wolf 19 for 28 damage.

Barratore thrashes about, nearly in a panic still. If was like the kobold caves all over again. His defenses were a shambles, his footing and balance off and even the grip upon his sword was wrong.
Barratore is vaguely aware of V saying something, but he only knew about the wolf in front of him and he hacks wildly at it. By shear volume of strikes, he manages to land one blow.

“So it seems the bits and pieces of information we were getting in the fog was real wolves. And didnt the circle at Witchspawn warn us of wolves?” Tishe’ mopes a bit. Like every other piece of divination she has ever encountered, the answers never make sense until AFTER the event.

Emrys enjoys the feeling of a fire in his belly, burning away the remains of his fears. Now with a clearer head and a more calm and controlled resolve, he considers other possibilities that would soon let themselves be known.
He says, "Agreed," to Velarin's strategy of focus and conservation. "Besides I'm more concerned with the one who howled... not these pups they chose to sacrifice to us! I wonder if they have the 'teeth' to let themselves be known!"
Velarin hits Wolf 19 with a magic missile for 28 damage. [OOC: Why do you do 5d4+14? What happened to 5d4+5?]
Barratore attacks Wolf 16, hitting once for 26 killing it! [OOC: Emrys removed the fear effect last round.]
Emrys reminds his friends that they have nothing to fear from fear itself, at least for the next ten minutes!

Lanliss attacks Wolf 19 for 15 more.

Edson's first arrow finishes off Wolf 18, so he sends the second at Wolf 12 for 13.
Barratore struggles with the Anti-Life Shell and the close-spaced trees -- it takes him a hasted move action and squeezing to get to Wolf 12. He gets one standard attack, hitting Wolf 12 for 31.
[OOC very odd that you can't see the map. Anyone else having trouble? I have it set so anyone with the link can view. Well, I'll throw a screen grab into the daily email too.]
