As you explore the area you find that there are a couple more bodies, in similar states of damage, and clearly dead.

The Taur amongst you know the local customs, and you begin to bury the three bodies in the manner you would expect, leaving a small pile of stones to mark the graves. You say a few words of blessing over the graves as you finish the piles of stones, customs designed to ward off spirits, so they say, and allow the souls of these poor folk to move on into the afterlife. It takes you a few hours to do all the digging and burying, and by the time you get moving again, the sun has started to get low in the sky. The coast is not too far, and if you continue you will reach it after the sun goes down, or you could stop and rest and continue at first light.

Kiwina is not very disadvantaged by the dark -- at least, from what he's seen of Rolth, no more so than a liontaur. Still, there are others in the party to consider. Mak, for instance, is human and half-blind at night. On the other hand, Mak would have no problem making his way if he thought the village took a couple of kegs with them.
"I think the best course depends on how far we expect to go in the dark, how dark it is tonight, and whether the wemics will react poorly to us arriving at night." He can estimate the first of these, and see if the moon is out, but he's no expert on wemic customs.

The Petals continue on their way just as the sun finishes going down and the moon rises, you've been walking for another hour or so by this point, when you come across a waterfall, a pool with a small stream running out to the coast proper. You can see it all, it'd take about ten minutes to get to the coast itself from the pool you are standing on the edge of.
As you look across the and around the lake, you see more bodies, you are about 150 feet from the lake itself, but can see the waterfall coming off a cliff that looks to be about 40 feet high. You can see a few bodies strewn around the lake, and many more floating in the lake, making about 20 bodies in all, with six or so on the shore, and about another 15 (it's hard to tell exactly in the dark) floating around the water.

Elyas is about ready to join th eothers in running when the undead rush at Kiwina way faster than Elyas expected, especially through the water!
instead of running, he does what he can to slow the creatures down. he pulls a small tentacle out of his spell pouch and waves it in the air. it glows purple and suddenly a bunch of wrtihing tentacles push up from the water, grabbing at ghouls.
the tentacles try to grasp as many of the undead as can be in the radius (20 foot radius spread, placed where they can catch as many ghouls as possible without catching Kiwina.) CMB to grab (one roll for all enemies) = 29 anythign with a CMD less than that will take 8 damage, and become grappled

Rolth is confused, even with his triple-human movement rate, he feels downright glacial today. Fortunately, the ghouls seem just as slow, so he gamely keeps swinging, hoping some will connect.
Tsak and Esmerelda only just make it to the flat stone escarpment as the creatures seem to boil out of the water. Tsak takes aim at the closest and with the help of the team's magic makes an extra attack. He is happy to see all three bolts strike true. Esmerelda snarls, hisses and strikes at any creature that dares come close.

Falco buffs up.
Mak finishes off one Rolth was attacking and slays another by himself.
Elyas manages to trap some of them, but they are all slain quickly and efficiently.
Kiwina strikes out and slays a third on of these creatures, and injures a fourth
Then Tsak and Esmerelda manage to finish off the last one that was attacking first.
However, four more manage to join the fray, three again surrounding Kiwina and three getting to Rolth, while others move up to be able to attack next round.

The whole group of petals looks to heal Kiwina or search around.
You all quickly find, and corroborate each others ideas that the Taur walked up to and into the water, if you follow their line of walking it heads straight into the waterfall. Oddly, there are no footprints around the small lake, and none leading to the coast and into the ocean.
They could have either climbed up the cliffs, swam deeply into the lake (you can't really see how deep it is) or gone into the waterfall, there doesn't appear to be much else here.

The water was cold, and it bothered Mak's leg, but he'd already gotten wet wading in to find his arrows so what was a little more water. Mak decided, against his better judgement, to look behind the waterfall. Falco casts waterbreathing on the party.
Mak looks behind the waterfall.
Elyas says to wait.
Kiwina also helps explore.
Some of the party dive down to the bottom of the lake, thankfully it's not terribly deep, but the cold water makes for some slow-ish going. At the bottom of the lake are various baubles and valuables like more silver platters and candelbras and things that might fetch a half way decent price, there are also a liontaur body or two down here, clearly they came from the same group, but didn't float for whatever reason.
Mak and Elyas look behind the waterfall and see a cave that leads into the hillside and down, the light doesn't penetrate far enough to see much more than thirty or thirty five feet, and the stone is damp towards the entrance. Further in the stone is still a little slick, but dries out just as it fades into blackness. This seems to be the logical route the other Taur took.

Rolth checks the bodies, and doesn't find any of them to be Nantyr.
Falco finds nothing that is magical, just the bric-a-brac that may be worth a couple of thousand gold.
Mak waits by the waterfall cave.
Elyas does too.
Kiwina hesitates to go into the cave at first.
Once you get into the cave you begin heading in, after you get about ten feet into what was the darkness, now kept at bay by the light, you see there is a small gap in the rock face, it is just large enough for a Taur to squeeze through...
If you are a Taur, you need to make a DC 14 Strength Check or a DC 12 Acrobatics check to get through the gap, anyone smaller than a Taur can make it through without a check.
You can see on the other side there is some water here, it's about an inch deep on the floor, and the smell of death invades your nostrils, the light flickering and dancing along the floor and reflected back into the tunnel making it appear as if the shadows are moving along the ceiling...

Falco easily passes through the opening behind the waterfall, as his light spills into a damp chamber. The floor here is covered in a few inches of water, and dampness glistens from the walls. (What did Falco cast Light on?)
Rolth tries to squeeze through. He looks at the opening, deciding that maybe with a better attempt he could make it in. He tries again and makes it in.
Likewise, Kiwina finds the passage too tight at first, but he gets by with a little help from his friends.
Mak looks around a bit, but realizes he will need his own light source before he ventures too far from the others.
Elyas pushes into the narrow opening and also sheds some light into the immediate area.
Mist sprays into the air from the waterfall near the entry and mixes with a cloying smell of death in this place. As you move into the chamber, the floor is slippery and the water varies in depth between a few inches and a couple feet (treat as difficult terrain - half speed movement and no “5-foot step.”)
Aside from the Petals splashing around a bit, the only sound seem to be echoes of dripping water in the distance.

The party tentatively explores the chamber they are in. The floor is covered in water here ranging from a few inches to two feet deep. The air is moist and tainted with decay.
Rolth moves up to guard Elyas. He peers down into the water, and he can see a few worms. Looking at them carefully, he can see that they do not look healthy. The move litle even when disturbed, and some have sores or wounds on them. Yech.
Kiwina move in enough to allow others to pass.
Tzak pushes in through the waterfall, but Esmerelda requires a bit of coaching before she follows. The cat shakes off what water she can and look bedraggled as she tries to keep to the shallowest areas in the cave. Falco holds his bow, wary of a foe in this place.
Mak draws his short sword.

Tsak Rezar (Damien) AC15 (T13/F12) 70/70 HP| Falchion +4 2D4+3|Crossbow +1 1D8+1|Status: Hastened d20+11=28 ; d20+5=9 ; d8+1=2 ; d8+1=5 ; d20=10 ; d20=17 ; d20=4 ; d3=2 ; d3=1 ; d3=3 ; d6=1 ; Friday September 25th, 2020 10:19:37 PM
(OOC works for me thanks DM Mark, also pls ignore third d3 roll)
Tsak shifts his weight backward as the ghouls rise up and fires a couple of bolts at the nearest creature (G1). Esmerelda springs off Tsak's shoulders and also attacks the same ghoul.

Falco is hit for 9 damage and needs to make a DC 12 Fort save or be paralyzed. (The rules do not permit you to take a 5-foot step diagonally around a hard corner, but Falco had to move to cast the spell, so I had Falco move farther since he was already going to take a hit. This also made space for Elyas’ move. Let me know if this is in error.)
Mak lets fly some arrows. The first Ghoul falls from his first two arrows, and he shoots the third in another.
Elyas casts a Lightning Bolt, catching three. Another one bites the dust. (In the future, kindly read other player’s posts - Falco actually moved into that space first, but I’m trying to work this out to all of your best advantage.)
But even as two ghouls die, more move in to take their place. (The DM will assume a readied action this time for Kiwina, Rolth and Tsak.)
Kiwina, Rolth, Tsak, and Esmerelda ready actions as new targets move in and each strike.
The creatures flinch from the wounds, and growl viciously as they strike back.
Kiwina is hit for a crit, damage 13 and he needs to make a DC 12 Fort save against paralysis.
Tsak is hit for a crit, damage 10 and he needs to make a DC 12 Fort save against paralysis.
------------------------------------- Treat the water as difficult terrain - half speed movement and no “5-foot step.”
Here is your map. This is a Google Sheets spreadsheet. Please move yourself or let me know where you go (“I move to Z12”).

Rolth stays where he is, because there is no room to maneuver, which makes him very angry (enter rage.) He makes a full attack with his glaive at reach, using power attack, starting against G3 and switching to G4 if G3 goes down.
Glaive to hit = 25, damage = 23 Glaive to hit = 8 (after applying the -5 for iterative attack), miss
