DM Mitch Friday October 9th, 2020 8:01:29 AM Beech runs the ropes across the river and adjusts them till he has it right. He explains how the upper set is where the sides will top out for safety and explains how they can get fancy with the foundations later. He is also open to suggestions on the drawbridge
Lothlo Suggests that for the size of the river they are dealing with they don’t need to worry about overfishing until they start a massive commercial fishing enterprise. He reasons that part of the reason cities have been founded on rivers throughout history is because they can provide large amounts of food. He suggests querying other settlements founded on the same river for good advice to improve the fish population.
Ash starts having ideas of awakened tree bridges that lower their branches on command when bridges are needed. She also thinks about potentially making colossal sized constructs for bridges. She remembers the token that Nelly gave them and asks Delilah while in Dirt City how best to get the token to Nelly. Ash also asks Naithi if she can help with the plant growth.
Delilah says to Ash, “If you give us a missive for Nelly we can see that it gets to her. Delilah is a Greenmage affiliated with the Emissaries so we can get in touch with her.”
You’ve been at Freedom’s Landing for a little while now and people start to establish routines. It is hard work sure, but honest work and it is easy to get into a sort of groove. There is a stark contrast, however, when the day to day gets disrupted because strange occurrences start happening.
The first day it was easy enough to brush off, perhaps it is just a bit of bad luck? The second day, maybe folks are just a little tired from the hard work of city building? On the third day, though, a pattern starts forming.
Tools and other minor items start disappearing like in one instance a hammer would be on a workbench one minute and in the next it would be gone despite assurances from everyone in the vicinity that no one took it. The hammer turned up several hours later on the ground near the area that Naithi typically uses for training Buggo.
People start hearing voices despite no one being around them or they feel a phantom pressure on their shoulder as if a tiny being is perching there. The orcs start talking amongst themselves about the forest potentially being haunted.
At other times when talking to others some of the denizens of Freedom’s Landing feel tongue tied or have trouble collecting their thoughts causing difficulty in communicating. Those with a quick wit seem a little dull compared to their usual selves and witticisms usually delivered with perfect timing happen minutes to hours later, after the fact. Those known for their wisdom, good ideas and advice sometimes seem to be in a fog. Ideas that would have been perfect if shared before undertaking tasks in order to improve the doing of said tasks do not materialize until the tasks have been done thus negating the need for the thought about efficiencies.
What could be the source of the odd happenings?
Zazu (AC14, HP11/18) and Boyo the bunny (AC16, HP8/9) (Cayzle) d20+12=22 ; d20+8=26 ; d20+8=28 ; d20+8=20 ; Friday October 9th, 2020 10:25:10 AM
Before the oddities start, Zazu sends a note to Greenmage Nelly describing everything about the new settlement. She is more than welcome to come by at her convenience.
Zazu follows Lothlo's ideas for trap placement. And looks for a fisher folk to check the traps on the regular.
=====
Zazu thinks that these oddities sound like fairy tricks, and wonders about the sprites we had heard about. The Culverwood native tries to think if any particular residents of the magical forest might fit this pattern of behavior: Know Nature 22.
"I think the best thing we can do is what we did in the beginning. Try to be nice, respectful, and generous. Leave out gifts. Play music, recite poetry, have a dance. And be careful too -- stay in groups of three or four, don't go out after dark, keep watches and set sentries around town."
"Following my own advice, I'll put on some 'magic' shows. That may amuse these fey folk, if that's what they are."
Sleight of Hand checks to do "magic" -- 26, 28, 20! ... with patter in Sylvan and Common!
Zazu makes a mental note to buy some magic props -- colorful scarves, a hat with a secret compartment, a collapsing wand, stuff like that -- the next time the party goes to the city. [OOC: Masterwork Tools to help Sleight of Hand shows]
"Come on Naithi! Have Buggo do some tricks! Náro, play your flute! Who else can entertaining?"
Náro (Violet) HP: (15/16) AC: (16) Friday October 9th, 2020 10:45:07 AM
Náro thinks it's likely that these are fairies as well, especially because the group had anticipated them. It's not very promising that their first interactions were to play mischief, but... at least it wasn't anything more antagonistic. And he won't turn down a chance to play his flute, either. He joins Zazu in his "magic" show.

Well, whatever is going on we don't seem to have a clear reason for what might have changed to cause this, hopefully it is something we can address.
Lothlo goes to check the note they left to see if a sprite has responded, he also checks the eves for signs that sprites may have moved in.
Ash (RobC) -- AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 13 -- HP 25/25 Saturday October 10th, 2020 1:31:01 AM
Like the others, Ash believes this is likely some sort of trickery being played by sprites or other such fey. She isn't going to rule out other possibilities though.
She checks over any food that has recently been prepared or scraps laying about for any traces of poison (Detect Poison). It's possibly that some of the local berries might be causing some of the physical symptoms.
If she notices that she's talking to someone who appears to be acting strangely she will cast both Detect Magic and Detect Poison to see if she can work out what may be afflicting them.
Ash also tries to come up with a bit of a timeline of when things started to occur and what the current situation looks like. Are the incidents becoming more prevalent? She a little worried that things may be escalating and if not addressed quickly could become a bit nastier.
She then starts to plot where in the camp these things are happening most. Is it isolated to a particular location (like the river) or widespread? She also ties to determine whether this might be the work or just one individual or a group.

When the oddities start occurring he thinks about what could potentially be the cause of the strange occurrences.
He tries to get Náro and Naithi to put on a show for any fey that may be in the area.
Náro joins in with Zazu thinking that fairies are likely causing mischief
Lothlo suggests that this is more than sprites trying to make their homes in the outer layers of a tent. He checks to see if the note got any responses and if any of the eves show signs of sprite habitation.
Ash isn’t going to rule out other possibilities. She checks the food for poison and plans to use detect magic and poison on anyone acting strangely. She tries to come up with a timeline and plot where things are happening and if it is all one entity doing it or a group.
Beech suggests that them deciding to stay there is the change and suggests they come up with a way to make contact. He too reflects on what could be going on.
Niall asks if it is too late for the fae to listen to reason.
Naithi tries to make a proper offering but doesn’t have much luck with it. She does join Zazu’s little show with Buggo.

It seems being an orc is going to be a big hurdle to overcome here in the Emerald Kingdom.
Ash is tempted to just cast a Sleep spell on the Leprechaun and be done with it. Deal with him when he's subdued. He may not take too kindly to it though. Time for another approach.
"An arrow isn't much of a thing you know, so how about we play a game. You like games and having fun, right? Me too. How about this? Do you like riddles? We sit here now and share some. Náro figures out the chairs are an illusion. He’s disappointed that the visitors responded with a prank but he doesn’t show it. He stays quiet to avoid becoming the target of further pranks
Telepathically, Zazu, Naithi and Náro hear giggling in their minds. ”You’re nice. I bet she’ll like you.” A weight he hadn’t noticed suddenly vanishes from Zazu’s shoulders and you hear the soft sounds of something small skipping away. At few footsteps appear in the dirt, though you’ll need concentrated effort to follow them.
Lothlo reiterates his offer of a dedicated prank day.
Though they hear nothing it seems the unseen creature approves for Nial can suddenly talk again. You hear shuffling noises in the eaves above you and something peaks it’s head out.
Beech makes a diplomatic pitch to the leprechaun suggesting a trade in exchange for aid in building the town.
Ash suggests Murzush returns to the camp. She then agrees to the deal, approaching the Leprechaun, tossing him a gold and agreeing the Leprechaun is quick and that it is the Leprechaun’s turn
The leprechaun smiles in satisfaction as he accepts the gold coin, setting down the arrow to catch it. The trade offer just gets a grunt. ”Ditch the greenskin, maybe we can talk then.”
Murzush shakes her head in annoyance and gets up to leave, “Let me know how it goes with this rude, little one later. Also if these fae are going to be a threat to my people.” She returns back to camp.
The leprechaun watches her go warrily. ”Alright then. My turn.” he twirls the gold coin thoughtfully. ”Answer my riddle and I’ll give you some answers instead of some coin. Not that you have any chance of succeeding.”

The knight considers carefully his question, and when the time comes asks it. With the answer he deduces which daughter is married and earns the daughter's hand in marriage.
What question did the knight ask?”

Ash starts to pace a little. Had this question been for gold, Ash would have intentionally lost so as to help build up the relationship. For information though? She wants this.
"What about "I plan to propose to your sister. What'll she say? That's only a three word question, right?
If she says 'yes' then marry the one you are speaking with. If he's speaking to Lilia, she'd say 'yes' when Amalia would say 'no'. Amalia would say 'yes' when Lilia would say no. If she says 'no', then you marry the other one.
Just to be sure though, while talking to her he could also look at her hand. If he sees a mark or suntan around her ring-finger then he knows she's also been wearing a wedding ring"
Ash isn't entirely sure about this though. It sounds like a riddle she had heard previously involving some gargoyles, but that one didn't have any word limit.

Náro starts to feel guilty about his earlier thoughts. He wonders who this she is and bows slightly giving thanks for the sentiment.
Naithi remarks it was pleasant chatting with the creature and once again offers food and drink, trying to get the creature to change its mind.
No one can hear or see anything. After several moments it seems pretty clear it either left, or at least decided to stop interacting with you. A commotion elsewhere starts up, drawing your attention. It’s coming from inside one of the two buildings.
Lothlo and Niall introduce themselves and each other, welcoming the creature to their village and asking its name and if they can be of assistance.
The creature makes a strange noise - something between bird song and a whistle. Perhaps that’s it’s name? ”You are very kind. The lady will approve. I don’t need any assistance.”
Ash remarks that the Leprechaun has an interesting riddle. She thinks that if this had been for gold she would have purposely lost to keep the Leprechaun around but this one is for info and she wants this. She gives an answer and her rationale for it. She isn’t sure though about her answer when she gives it. She thought she heard this one before or a variation involving gargoyles but it didn’t have a word limit.
Beech suggests the Leprechaun keep the arrow remarking he didn’t know the creature would want it. He decides to head back and think about something useful to do.
The leprechaun shakes his head, but looks impressed. ”Ha! Right logic, wrong question. Three words means three words - you’d be cut off at ‘I plan to’. Nor is the king so foolish to leave any identifying marks you can use. You’re very close though, and I won’t count that as your guess since you were just clarifying the rules.”
Beach looks about for something useful and sees lots of options. There’s some commotion elsewhere in town, somewhere inside one of the buildings. He can also see some of the others talking to something up in the rafters.

"I think the answer needs to involve both sisters. Perhaps 'What'll she say?' or 'Would she agree?' would do. Same logic as before. If she says 'yes' then that's the one to marry."
Ash then tries to look at it practically "To be honest though, he'd be better off with Amalia or not at all. It wouldn't be good to marry someone who always lies".

The leprechaun grins. ”Too vague lassie, they could answer referring to any other woman in their lives. And I think three guesses is plenty fair. The right question is ‘Are you married?’ Should Amalia, the truth teller, be married you will always get a yes. Should Lilia, the liar, be married you will always get a no.

Lothlo watches their new friend disappears. He asks Niall if they should return to the others before they try to find this “her”
Niall agrees they have to do as Lothlo suggested and calls out to their friend in the rafter asking for no harm to come to the villagers by the pranks
Ash nods to the Leprechaun and gives him another gold coin. She says they are headed to the woods and informs them of the encounter with Leprechauns.
The illusionary monster doesn't seem to appreciate Zazu calling it out. It roars at him, and a telepathic message comes - annoyance, images of people running, of a warrior making a fool of himself fighting an illusion. It seems this mischief maker likes scaring people. The image vanishes after posturing for a moment. The orcish woman tries to comfort her kids and the couple other spectators relax a little
The party congregates and compares notes. It seems there is a “lady” involved and a hint to look in the woods. Even as they discuss more they hear of other incidents around town, to many to be caused by 3 or 4 fey.

Naithi leads the way, tracking the trail
Lothlo takes a closer look at the tracks. If he had to guess he’d say the boots were from leprecauns, the animal tracks were from the pookas, and the bear feet from the roof fey.
There are several trails to follow, in and out of town, criss crossing over themselves. Picking one the party starts to follow it. It is often difficult to follow, weaving in and out of the underbrush, sometimes vanishing for sections only to reappear. You get the feeling if they didn’t want to be followed the job would be hopeless, but every time you almost lose it you find it again. You pass by other trails here and there- they all seem to be leading in the same general direction, though in a very meandering way.
You reach a point where several trails overlap. It’ll take a concerted effort to make sense of them all and continue following the trail but you’re making good progress towards wherever these fey originate from

You follow the trails further until you come to a clearing in the woods with a fairy circle of mushrooms at its center. Standing in the middle of the fairy circle is… a small, humanoid figure with massive ears and elaborate eyebrows framing her otherwise youthful features. She is wearing a regal shadowy dress that fades away into nothingness as it reaches her ankles. Aside from the shadowy dress robing her the small figure does not project her own shadow.
Slightly behind her is a taller beautiful woman with a coy smile. The woman turns slightly and you can see her vulpine tail and wood lined hollow inside her back as her long hair blows languidly in the gentle breeze and her kimono hugs the hollow momentarily revealing its presence.

The youthful figure in the shadowy dress regards you and then lets out a chuckle. She stands about 3 feet tall and looks as if she weighs naught 40 pounds. She says, “Greetings. My name is Zanna and this is Dulcina. I believe I am the lady that you are looking for. Please forgive the deeds of our leprechaun, pooka and liminal sprite associates. They were a test of sorts for us to see just whom we were dealing with. Our associates have tresspassed a little against you though their pranks are largely harmless you still treated them fairly and you even approach us in caution for fear of having offended. We are most certainly not offended and we hope that our tests have not offended you. We would speak business or potential business with you, but first We’d like to offer you a token of good will considering you passed our tests with flying colors.”
Dulcina hands Zanna a small glove box and Zanna opens it revealing a slender glove made of pure shadow. Zanna steps forward out of the fairy circle and approaches, open glove box in hand.
She holds out the box toward you and says “I wove this glove out of shadow. It has an interesting magical property. If you wear it and press your hand against any surface or object you can cause a luminous handprint to appear. This handprint glows in any color the wearer desires and sheds light as a candle. It is visible from a distance of up to 60 feet and the glowing handprint will last for a full day before fading away. Please accept it as a token of friendship.”

Ash maintains her smile, but inwardly, she's conflicted. The fey they have met so far have been pranksters and tricksters. This offering could be another way to mess with the party. Maybe is makes your hand stick to everything? Maybe it won't come off? Maybe it makes your fingers go straight up your nose?
On the other hand, maybe it's an honest gift? A gesture of good will?
If they're going to get along with the new neighbours there has to be some trust involved. Best not to cause any further offense.
"Thankyou. That's very kind of you" Ash reaches out to accept the glove box on behalf of the party, but she doesn't take the glove out or put it on. It's not for her to claim for her own.
Ash would like to respond with a gift in kind but the only thing she can think of right now is that dagger made of dire bear bone. She's pretty sure these two wouldn't like it.
"I'm afraid I don't have any gift I could offer in return, save to invite you to join us for a meal at some point. The food may be meager but we'd welcome your company"

Zanna regards Beech’s question and says, “If I’m trying to be friendly why would I offer you a cursed glove? This is a magic item that functions exactly as I’ve laid out. You can put it on or take it off as you see fit and it is crafted from shadow I’ve collected myself. That alone should make it rare, for as I understand it sometimes humanoids can weave elements if they are a powerful enough spell caster but I’ve never heard of them being able to weave shadow.” Dulcina regards the offered necklace, Zanna nods and the fey woman takes it. Zanna says to Lothlo, “In due time, my good sharpshooter” Zanna takes a deep breath and says, “Now onto business. I’m not sure if you are aware or not but there are many factions that exist in the Emerald Kingdom and Culverwood. Despite having no good reason to, you treated the Pooka, Leprechaun and Liminal Sprites with kindness. You seem to be good people. When the time comes we are hoping that your party and by extension the town will align with our faction.”
Ash (RobC) -- AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 13 -- HP 25/25 Thursday October 29th, 2020 2:58:43 AM
Ash takes a sharp inhale as Zanna responds to Beech "We're just very new to these parts and some of your little associates have us a little spooked" she tries to explain "I'm sure it's a wonderful gift". The best thing to do now is to demonstrate some trust before this all becomes an issue.
Ash opens the box to admire the glove closely. She goes as far as to place it on her right hand, smiling to Zanna as she does so "This is really lovely. Thankyou. You crafted this yourself? Incredible" She lays on the compliments, before removing it and placing it back in the box (unless anyone else wants to give it a try). She's not quite sure if something woven out of shadows is a good thing or not, especially if Zanna is a Shadow Collector. Stealing other people's shadows isn't exactly nice.
"I'm sure we'd be happy to be friends with any who would call us the same. Forgive my asking though, but we know very little of what factions may be around the Emerald Kingdom and Culverwood. We've met some nice people in the city and the forts, and some not so nice orcs. Oh, that reminds me. In case it is important you should know that some orcs have decided to settle with us. It's ok though. These ones are good at heart and just wish to make homes for themselves"

"Also, we want to be good neighbors, and we do not have cruelty or destruction in our hearts. Even the orcs who have settled among us have this same commitment, and have promised to raise children with the same values."
"Which is, I think it is fair to say, we are definitely on your side, the side of the Culverwood that is pure and good and beautiful and respectful of nature.

Lothlo listens the them mention the different factions, but is far from sold on whether they are one to consider siding with. Their test felt more like a test from that thieves guild they ran into than that of someone who wanted to be friends.
We may have treated them with kindness, but I'm afraid I have to report that not all the pranks we innocent and harmless. They absolutely terrified a small orcish family, those poor children had no clue it was a prank. I am sure they though they were moments away from being eaten and fearing for their lives. DM Hugh - Factions, Factions, Factions Friday October 30th, 2020 2:25:16 AM Ash covers for the perceived clumsy ask from Beech, opening the glovebox and placing the glove on her right hand. She inquires further about the factions.
Zazu gives a little bit about his personal history and potential future plans and their philosophy with respect to the forest. He even says they are on the side of the Culverwood that is pure and good and beautiful and respectful of nature.
Beech apologizes for the perceived slight and explains he was only trying to figure out more of the item’s parameters and shares some of his past and his thoughts on friendship. Lothlo listens and points out that the tests may not have been harmless for some and that they are a little wary right now. He asks to know more about the factions and why they are at odds. Naithi reiterates some of what the others have said, explains some of her backstory and asks about the factions as well.’’ Náro keeps observing the two fey.
The shadow glove feels like no material Ash had ever worn. It is supple yet strong and black as pitch. She has no problem removing it once she puts it on.
Zanna says, “The Emerald Kingdom and Culverwood are interesting places. They share a border yet are two radically different places. One is a living immortal power, while the other is dormant and becoming tamer as time passes. There are those among both locations seeking to shape how the relationship between the Culverwood and Emerald Kingdom function as a settlement on the border you are well placed to observe and potentially influence this dynamic. Our own faction has some disagreement about the best course of action but personally I’d like to see things stay the same or if anything see the Emerald Kingdom at least partially influenced by The Culverwood. Perhaps then the denizens of the Emerald Kingdom can live more in tune with nature? Who can say? Only time will tell.
She continues, “You have met some of the factions already, yes? The Thieves Guild and the Council and their Emissaries are 2 of the other factions out there. There are others that you haven’t met yet, that will probably reveal themselves to you in good time. You seem off to a good start with your settlement, hopefully you can keep it up.”

We are always happy to side with good people. Can you tell us more about the factions? Do they tend to be at odds with each other, or do some of them get along pretty well? And are there any specific ones we should be extra wary of?
And since we are neighbors, I do want to make sure that we are building our settlement in a way that isn't going to displease you. You mentioned wanting things to stay the same or see the Emerald Kingdom influence things. I'm not sure how that may apply to our settlement, but you've been here a long time and we'd be thankful if you can provide a better way of doing things.

DM Hugh - Peace, Freedom and Understanding Monday November 2nd, 2020 2:17:44 AM Niall explains they are just looking for a place where the settlers can live in peace and freedom, hoping that factions and politics will let them. Beech nods explaining their goal is to remain friends with most and have few conflicts with their neighbors including the fey they encountered. Lothlo takes interest in the talk of faction. He asks for more information about the factions, how they get along and if there are any they should be wary of. He also makes a note that they don’t to build a settlement in a way that displeases and asks if how Zanna’s philosophy regarding having things the same or seeing a greater Emerald Kingdom influence would apply to the settlement. Ash keeps her reservations about the Thieves Guild to herself but if they are a faction in their own right they might be trouble. Náro points out how the settlement has plans for some treetop buildings.
Zanna says to Niall and Beech, “Yes, well most beings prefer peace and stability to conflict and uncertainty. As I’ve previously stated we wish friendship with your people so you have nothing to worry about from us regarding disrupting your settlement.”
Zanna says to Lothlo and Náro, “The relationships among the factions are fluid. Sometimes it is beneficial for two factions to have the same outcome but for different reasons so they work in concert to make that outcome occur. At other times they may be at odds over potential outcomes so they oppose each other. Sadly, I don’t know who all the factions are. I just know things may be changing. There is a feeling of unease among some of those in my faction so I was sent to gain a better understanding of your group. I think I have done so. Treetop buildings are certainly interesting. Regardless of how you build I recommend you leave a place in your eaves for the Liminal Sprites. They will cease playing their tricks regarding forcing your people to speak gibberish or forgetting things. They however are a cursed folk so there are few places in this world where they can reside because of this. The eaves of your buildings are one such place.”
To the group in general she asks, “Is there anything else you would ask of me at this time?”
Zazu (AC14, HP18) and Boyo the bunny (AC16, HP9) (Cayzle) Monday November 2nd, 2020 7:31:30 AM
Zazu is so happy that this is going well, and it shows in a big smile. "Miss, you have been very kind, and I think we would welcome any friendly fey who come to us, so long as they don't scare the little kids too much!"
Zazu has been mulling over the history of the Wold that he knows, common knowledge. Like how Plateau City does not have a standing army but relies on teams of adventurers to face challenges. Like how hero teams often have a wide mix of peoples all talented in magic or fighting. It seems to the fledgling wizard like from a band of escaped slaves, maybe we are becoming such a group.
"I do have just one request, if you do not mind. Please do spread the word that we're friends of nature here, and we want to be good neighbors, and if any folk you know have problems or need help, they would likely find us happy to lend a hand. As good-hearted adventurers, I mean."

"We're also trying to make sure that the Culverwood itself knows that we intend no harm to it or any that live within in it. Lothlo considers what else they may need to know.
I know the details on the different factions are fluid, but can you confirm whether the thieves guild are just as disreputable and untrustworthy as their name would suggest? Beech asks Zanna for thoughts on building a living drawbridge Lothlo says they can accommodate the sprites as long as they aren’t going to play any more tricks. He asks for more information on the Thieves Guild and if they are disreputable and untrustworthy. Náro is happy that the meeting is going well. He prefers diplomacy to fighting as well which appears to be a common opinion. He has no questions so he smiles and bows slightly. Naithi is intrigued by building places in the eaves and makes a mental note to learn more about the Liminal Sprites
Zanna says to Lothlo, “The Thieves Guild appears to be motivated by the accumulation of wealth. They are a newer faction to be sure and they seem to be more of a faction that is urbanly based. I have not had much dealing with them myself and can make inquiries when I get back.”
Zanna goes to leave with Dulcina, looks back and says “So you are adventures looking for a good cause? I heard you were interested in a Lyre of Building. Well as a final gesture of good will before I go there is a ruin a few days journey North by Northwest into the Culverwood that is said to contain one and get this, it isn’t just your average run of the mill Lyre of Building, but it can transform into other types of instruments if the player prefers while still maintaining its magic abilities.”

"That sounds like quite the fantastic coincidence. to the north you say?" Niall asks.
Lothlo (WillD) -- AC: 19/15/14, HP: 28/28, CMD: 20 (+1 save against fear and +1 to attack/damage.) Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 9:19:32 PM What can you tell us about the ruins to the north? Are they inhabited, and if so are the inhabitants friendly or part of another faction?
Beech (JohnC) AC 14(18)/14/14,HP 16/16, Character Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 10:50:47 PM
Beech thinks to himself..... almost too much of a coincidence.
Náro (Violet) HP: (15/16) AC: (16) Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 11:03:25 PM
'Thank you for the information,' Náro says politely-- it always pays off to leave a good impression. 'Do you know what other treasures the ruins might contain, aside from a lyre of building?' he asks, thinking that it would be quite a coincidence if the only treasure the ruins contain happens to be the one they are looking for, so that means it's probably one of many. However, this means it's probably a lot more well guarded.
Zazu (AC14, HP18) and Boyo the bunny (AC16, HP9) (Cayzle) Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 11:29:17 PM
Zazu laughs. "This is great news, thank you!"
The elf is not surprised or even suspicious. "Things like this happen in the Culverwood, my friends."
Ash (RobC) -- AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 13 -- HP 25/25 Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 11:44:34 PM
Ash doesn't feel any better about the Thieves Guild. A new settlement populated by people with little combat experience might be seen as an easy target for a guild motivated by wealth.
She tries to recall any details about these ruins. Was it of note at some point? Why is it now in ruin?
"You wouldn't happen to know what happened to the previous group that tried to settle where we are, would you? We want to avoid any pitfalls they may have run into"
DM Mitch Wednesday November 4th, 2020 7:06:05 AM Niall asks for confirmation that the location is to the north. Lothlo inquires more about the ruins to the north. Beech thinks the Lyre’s existence is almost too much of a coincidence Náro is thankful for the information and asks about the treasure the ruins might contain and whether or not they are guarded. Zazu remarks that the news of the lyre is great. He is not surprised or suspicious as things like that happen in the Culverwood. Ash doesn’t feel any better about the Thieves Guild. She tries to recall any details of the ruins. She thinks back and realizes she misspoke, the previous group in the area was not a settlement but a survey team.
As for the ruins she was not aware of any structure herself but the Culverwood is a mysterious area; she had heard of other instances where the Culverwood hid something for a while only to open a path to it at a later point of time. She thinks she recalls hearing about the river journey Humble’s Sword took through it where the flow of a river itself changed.
I can tell you that they exist and little more. I have never seen them myself, only heard of an underground dungeon with magic meant to confuse and mislead those who enter. Magic very similar to that of a lyre, but with the sounds of a variety of instruments. I’m sure you’ll find what you want though”
And with that the pair are gone, faded into the shadows.

"That sounds like a call to adventure to me! Let's set things to order here asap and then head North!"
[OOC: That means crossing the river, right? Have we made a rope bridge or got a boat yet? We talked about those, not sure if we did either?]
Niall (JonL) HP: 22/36 AC: 17/11/16 Wednesday November 4th, 2020 8:32:21 PM
"It is certainly something to consider for the future. Near future" Niall admits and then bows to the fae, "Passining along what knowledge you have of the place is very much appreciated"
Lothlo (WillD) -- AC: 19/15/14, HP: 28/28, CMD: 20 (+1 save against fear and +1 to attack/damage.) Wednesday November 4th, 2020 8:48:41 PM Yes, we should head back to resupply and let the towns people know that there shouldn't be any more tricks being pulled. We can then formulate a plan and head out in the morning.
Beech (JohnC) AC 14(18)/14/14,HP 16/16, Character Wednesday November 4th, 2020 10:25:12 PM "We might want to let them know we'll be gone for a while too, since most seem to come to us for answers, and we should inform them that every building is to have eaves."

Naithi (JamesD) AC: 19/14/17 HP: 22/23 , CMD = 16 Thursday November 5th, 2020 12:06:30 AM I wish we had thought to ask more about the ruins and who left the lyre. We will need to be careful. I don't think it was left there just for us.
That said...We're in. Shall we plan on heading North in the morning?
Ash (RobC) -- AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 13 -- HP 25/25 Thursday November 5th, 2020 1:36:04 AM "Sounds good" Ash does a quick check to make sure everyone still has their shadow. She's sure they do, but hey, doesn't hurt to check.
