DM(James M) - Map - What Pit? 10d6=33 ; 10d6=32 ; Thursday March 4th, 2021 1:51:11 PM
DM Notes: Unless you guys know different, Air Elementals are transparent so they won't block vision. As for the object at Y22, I think that's a PC icon, Neshi perhaps? Lets not use icons on the map from now on unless everyone knows what it's supposed to be. As for light sources, even with True Seeing you wouldn't be able to see reflected "light" without a light source.
Osul reveals that the rainbow marks on the rock came from a horn or claw. Armand announces that the object in the ceiling has a magic aura. Abjuration he thinks. Elyngael climbs the wall of the tunnel as much as she can to get from under Osul and started to examine the wall. Brawn is keeping watch at the rear. Neshi keeps a sharp eye out as he asks about their course of action. Atlas considers recovering the rock and try to sell it and mentions that to the others. Vamir casts invisibility on himself even as he admits that he doesn't know what the rock and it's shiny bits are. Owen watches the rear.
Armand - Highlight to display spoiler: {You correctly identify the spell as an Alarm spell.}
It wasn't but a second after Atlas made his comment about selling the rock when the entire ceiling above Osul, Vamir, and Elygael collapsed upon them. A split second later the floor gave way as the ceiling and floor plummeted downwards with a large rock accompanying the falling debris.

'Osul gingerly, carefully gets to his flight, looking to see who or what else might be down here in the pit. Atlas reacts immediately when Armand speaks, flying down to pick up those that are hurt and bring them back up to Armand. He starts with El, pulling the rocks off her and flying her back up. "You're getting my nice armor bloody, please do be more careful next time." He says it with a smile however, then gently sets her down by Armand.
As he passes Vamir he nods, then he turns around to get 'Osul if he didn't manage to make it out already by himself.

DM(James M) - Map - Clouds? 2d6=9 ; d20+11=29 Friday March 5th, 2021 9:34:49 AM Osul was caught in the debris of the collapsing ceiling and thrown down into the pit that opened up when the rock from above impacted the ground. Armand moved as close to the edge of the pit carefully so as not to fall in and calls out to those that got caught in the landslide and suggests that Atlas might be able to fly down to them. Elyngael too was caught in the falling debris, but seemed unharmed enough to use language befitting a sailor. Vamir flew back a few feet avoiding most of the debris, but was still pummeled hard by a few rocks on the periphery as he looks upward into the darkness above. Owen goes to examine the situation and see if his spells might help. Atlas flew down into the hole to look for those caught in the trap. Neshi flew forward and peered down into the pit to see if he could offer any aid.
A cloud of dirt and dust erupted from the pit floor to obscure everything at its bottom. Osul and Elyngael both were covered in rocks, dirt, and debris, but not enough to pin them. Osul saw the stone that came through the ceiling laying next to him in the pit. It was at least fifteen feet in diameter and almost perfectly round. The rock they were examining at the time lay next to it. Elyngael and Osul saw that the rainbow colored flecks on one side of it were still visible in the dim reflected light of the orbs dancing about in the tunnel above.

'Osul looks as he flexes the fingers on his left hand. As an elemental there is nothing there, but as a human there is a non-magical crystalline ring in the shape of a dragon that changes colors - a Yuletide gift, and a reminder that he really should get that armor sorted - not that it would have helped in this situation.
"Alive, both!", 'Osul calls upwards like the howling wind through a canyon. He looks for any flaws or developing flaws in either stone, but particularly the large sphere [i]{Perception:54}[i]. He points it out to Atlas if he arrived/arrives. Otherwise he calls, "Oh, and Dragon claw and horn marks on the shiny thing!"
Back in whispy tones, he asks Elyngael, "Baby dragon's first hoard? I want to investigate, but I'm keen to get us back up to the rest of the Wardens. Maybe we can discuss it with all of us", he adds, pointing at the 15' sphere. If she agrees to leave (and hasn't already left with Atlas), he flies them up.

DM(James M) - Map - 6 - In the Tunnels Monday March 8th, 2021 8:41:53 AM Osul called up to those above that they were alright and then discussed with Elyngael what they have found in the pit. Armand looked at the cloud that suddenly formed above the pit and called down into the pit that he didn't like the look of it. He then addresses an unseen being in the tunnels. Neshi flew forward slowly. The fog was like thick syrup that impeded his movement. Once he was out Neshi was once more free to move as quickly as before. He hovered in the air and tried to shake off the cold. Elyngael called up to Atlas and requested a lift out of the pit. She states that the rainbow colors reminded her of the scat she found on the trail and that the rock those flecks were on was made of adamantine. Atlas arrived at the bottom of the pit and lifted Elyngael up as he proceeded to carry her out. Vamir comments on the chill of the cloud and moves out of it before healing his wounds then he looks around for enemies. Owen kept watch.
Osul nearly filled the pit with his elemental wind form as he watched Atlas arrive to wisk Elyngael away. Half a minute later the two were clear of the pit. (DM: Go ahead and mark your location on the map. - Atlas, Elyngael, Osul)

DM(James M) - Map - 8 - In the Tunnels Tuesday March 9th, 2021 8:45:34 AM Armand remarked on the magical nature of the cloud and the lingering magic at the bottom of the pit. As Osul, Elygael, and Atlas came within range he channeled energy to heal everyone around him. Neshi looked down into the cloud of dust settling in the bottom of the pit but was unable to see the bottom or any of the objects there. It would likely take a few minutes without an air elemental in the pit before that dust cloud settled. Vamir offered to become a burrowing creature but thought it unlikely anyone would be able to follow him. Owen cast dispel magic at the cloud. Elyngael asked about the types of burrowing creatures Vamir might choose and if Melzat might be able to burrow. After checking her equipment all is well and mostly dust free if not soiled from being buried in dirt. Osul returned to the top of the pit shaft after examining the sphere.
Owen's incantation created a nullifying effect on the freezing cloud that hung in the air and even as his spell ended the cloud started to dissipate as a harmless fine mist descended upon the ground around them. With the cloud gone those able could see the shaft above and could briefly see that was over 120' high as it vanished into the dark underground.
Osul and Neshi's windy natures are also starting to pick up debris from the loose soil around them and thus hampering vision. As they get closer to the shaft visibility is decreased to 60' for everyone.

Armand cast create water twice to clear the air of the dust and dirt created by the falling debris in a brief downpour in the area of the pit. Everyone on the far side of the pit was wet, but the dust was gone. He commented on a means to climb the shaft. Vamir listed the animals he could change into but questioned whether any could follow him. Elyngael directs Brawn to move up. Neshi move to the end of the tunnel and held up his light to peer at the wall in front of him. Aside from claw marks that ended here he saw nothing to indicate a secret passage or opening there. Osul offers to bring in a purple worm, but doubts he could direct its course.

Neshi started to float upwards into the shaft. As he did so he noticed the claw marks on the sides as similar to those they'd seen below. When he got close to the top he saw a cylinder shaped rock with a stone platform laid across it and hanging a little out over the shaft itself. If he had an extra 20' of rope he'd be able to tie it around that platform, but they'd have to watch the weight they put on it. Note that there is a new map with Ortho and Cross section. Please place your PCs on the Ortho and if you'd like to remain flying put your altitude on the cross section map.
Atlas Offered to climb the rope first. Armand suggested they all fly to the top of the shaft. Elyngael mounted Brawn so as to ride him while he airwalked. Vamir cast his spells and followed everyone up last. Neshi flew up and watched at the top of the shaft. Osul also took up the rear. Owen moved up the shaft.
At the top of the shaft they saw a rough rock cylinder with a stone platform balanced upon it. Recent scrapes upon the platform revealed that this was likely the resting place of the rock before it came through the ceiling upon them. There was no mechanism here that would have triggered the fall however and given the position of the cylinder and platform the latter would likely have fallen as well unless something prevented it.
As for the tunnel, it continued along for as far as they could see as it turned to the left. At the bend in the tunnel it was smoky or hazy. (See map)

DM(James M) - Map - 19 - In the Tunnels 16d10=74 ; Wednesday March 17th, 2021 8:54:39 AM Atlas spurs the wardens on with his advice to not tarry. Armand attempted to negotiate with an unseen something in the tunnels. Elyngael tried to reinforce Armands words with her own. Neshi added that the cloud thing ahead smelled like smoke and he suspected something draconic lay ahead of them. Vamir readied himself as Melzat moved forward. Osul moved forward and searched his memory a bit more.
Armand - Highlight to display spoiler: { DM: Character moves. Hehe. I did that. I didn't see him on the map at all so I placed him where I knew you'd notice. }
Armand tried to talk to whatever was up ahead but before he had a chance to breathe after his utterance a bolt of crackling electricity shot out of the smoke and through the darkness directly at him. It went over Atlas' head and barely missed Brawn and Elyngael. Armand was going to be dead center, he was doomed. Fortunately for the priest the bolt of lightning dissipated before it reached him. Osul however wasn't so lucky as he was caught in it's path.

Once the dsut settles the group moves forward about 120 feet and finds there is a decision to be made. There is a passage to the left that seems to be the direction from which the voice came out of, that tunnel seems to go on straight for goodly distance, so that the party can't see whaere or if it turns or ends.
And then there is the partially obscurred area still in front of the group that appears to go on for about 90 feet more where there seems to be a wall. The good elven eyes of the party can see what may be a 3 foot in diameter, dark filled, rough hole (tunnel) going into the wall leading to who knows where?

Vamir - Highlight to display spoiler: {Vamir searched the ground and the hole for a bit and saw no evidence that anything moved through the small 3' diameter tunnel at the end of the 30' diameter tunnel. The small tunnel itself had a cloud of freezing air inside it that he recognized from before. He didn't stick his hand completely inside, but knew his hand would freeze if he did.}
With dust continuing to circulate in the tunnel complex visibility was a problem. It seemed that the burst of air had pushed the dusty cloud of debris tens if not hundreds of feet along in all directions.
Meanwhile the sounds of the large creature moving about in the tunnels faded until they were once again isolated here in the silent darkness.
DM Notes about the map: Since we have so many flying people I felt it necessary to show altitude on the map. That actually saved most of you with that lightning bolt since it had to be fired in 3D space. Armand cast create water again and it worked in the immediate area, Elyngael continued to examine the tracks left by the dragon and moved closer to the ground. Owen identified the voice as an illusion. Osul made a comment about voices in your head. He seemed to have some experience with them. Vamir relates all he knows about the hole as Melzat touches down near him.
Armand's spell worked to clear the area near them but the dust cloud had traveled too far and vision was still obscured outside the area of his spell.
Elyngael - Highlight to display spoiler: {The dragon appears to be really really big. About the size of a sailing ship. About 50-60' long she'd guess. }
With the dust cloud somewhat clear they could see that the tunnel turned to the right and continued along for a bit before the particles in the air obscured vision too much to see. Osul thought he might be able to see above the debris cloud if he concentrated enough. The tracks here did look fresher than those they'd seen in the tunnels below.
DM Note: The map has changed to move you along. Make certain you place your PC on the map or let us know the coordinate where your PC is.

Armand cast his create water spell once more and cleared the area of dust, yet the tunnel ahead was still cloudy with the debris that moved along in the enclosed space. DM(James M) - Map - 30 - Ambush Anticipation Friday March 26th, 2021 9:05:23 AM
The dust was starting to settle and as the wardens approached the next turn in the tunnel they saw to the right the other half of the smaller hole they'd seen from the other side. This side looked like it had been dug out to leave a small tunnel large enough for the dragon's head. The deep footprints to either side of that tunnel indicated that the creature had leaned forward to look through the narrow passageway.
The intersection was unusual as well due to the rime of frost on everything. They recognized it from the cold cloud in the shaft leading up to this level and decided that a cold cloud must have been here until very recently.
Further along in the tunnels they could see that another shaft opened up, this one lead down.

Atlas turns in surprise, but instead of trying to dodge the fire, he gives the dragon an angry snarl and crouches down behind his shield. At the last second he dips his head behind the shield, knowing it will hurt, but managing to avoid much of the damage.
As the fire fades, he stands and says, "It's about time."

DM(James M) - Map - 34 - Ambush Anticipation 8d6=26 ; d20+12=26 ; Wednesday March 31st, 2021 8:51:49 AM Osul cast quench which seemed to twist the dragons inside about a bit as it grimaced in pain. Neshi heroically dodged to the side as he rolled about in order to avoid arms legs and stomping feet as the dragon found it's purchase in the tunnel. Armand threw himself to the ground and avoided the worst of the firey breath. Vamir down the other end of the tunnel completely avoided the dragon's breath. DM: According to the map Melzat at Vamir are no where near the dragon, so no damage to Melzat. Elyngael was surprised by the dragons sudden appearance behind her. Atlas looks totally badass as he endures the brunt of the dragons breath from behind his shield.
Atlas crouched behind his shield as waves of blue-red flame parted around it. Singed hairs and burnt skin weren't in the cards for the tough warrior as he stood in the aftermath of the flame and declared he was ready to fight at last.
Neshi cast his spell and with his hair flying about as if blown from a strong wind he raised his hands and brought down a ceiling of mud upon the dragon. Even as the mud settled around the dragons feet he transformed that mud into stone. DM: The dragon takes 26hp from the falling mud. The dragon was wiley though and beat its wings down and lifted itself out of the hardening mud before it could be trapped.
Everyone was ready to fight, but the dragon had other thoughts as it intoned some ancient words and vanished a moment later.

Atlas growls in frustration, then lifts his shield up into the air, shaking it with vigor, and yells, "I'm going to turn your skin into armor and feed the poor with your meat, and your teeth will make great bookends in our library. Just you freaking wait you coward!"
He takes a moment to compose himself, then looks to Neshi, "Hey, that was awesome, even if it didn't trap him, the idea was creative!"

Armand was just getting ready and then the dragon dissappeared. "Really? Didn't your parents ever teach you, that you really shouldn't play with your food? You would think that someone all hep on ruling the world would be in the market for some able henchmen to handle the daily drudgery tasks. And here you are wasting a possible recruitment opportunity along with waisting your chance for a meal. I'm sure you really make your parents proud." Grrrrrrrrrrr! Domi's nose hairs! Thanks Atlas, though I am not sure how it managed to avoid that. In any case, that won't likely work again so now I will have to think of something else. Atlas are you buffed enough? do need/want a stone skin or mage armor?
