There are a number of magic items here, and you manage to identify most of them. The feather gives you trouble, but you are eventually able to work out that it is a Feather Token: Bird.
Naithi asks about the metal in the hallway, which would be great for cooking. But the construct doesn't know what it is made of. "There are things I was not told," she says apologetically.
You gather your treasure. A final distribution can wait until you are home. And speaking of home, it's high time you returned there. You have a valuable magic item that will help build the town, and many of you are eager to see it in action.
Leaving the temple presents little trouble. Leaving the Culverwood is going to be somewhat trickier, but you don't have too much to traverse before you reach Freedom's Landing. At least you hope you don't. The Culverwood can be tricky.

Now outside the cave, Ash does a quick look around the fight scene by the entrance again. Now that she knows the dragon lost at least one tooth here she's keen to find it. Mike might be able to fashion a really nice and unique dagger out of it.
She waits for someone more familiar with the Culverwood (and made of more sturdy stuff) to take the lead on the way home.

Lothlo looks around for any signs that the group that attacked the dragon may be returning. I know we need to rest, but we should try to make as much distance between us and the ruins before it gets dark. If someone really is still hunting that dragon I don't want them showing up while we're still here.

Before heading out I check over the hide armor covers most of my outfit, trying to stay prepared for anything that might attack us on the way out. To other races I must look like a child or fairie, or some cross of the two. People always mistake my race's facial features for youthful innocence. It also doesn't help that I come up to most of their thighs and weigh less than their armor. Heck, I weigh less than my armor (3'6" and 40lbs...I think. It was recently increased).
I hope we can meet again sometime. Oh...My name is Naithi(N-eye-thee), better known as Murder Muppet, a nickname I earned as a slave in the orc gladiator pits. You can probably tell by my appearance that I am one of the beastfolk. Specifically I am a Sloth-kin, which you would lump in with the Ursine or Bearfolk.
Camalayaas, my dire rabbit (reskinned large cat), and I are hunters and adventures along with my guard dog Fizzgig. I also have a trusted cuddly mule carrying my gear. So you mind if we come back to visit you again?
ooc: Great to be playing with you Kathy. Naithi is pretty much the opposite of my Minotaur Grim Avenger. She is going for a lost child / morphling combination. Picture a small sized fairy/gelfling riding into battle on a medium sized dire rabbit. She collects pets, but only her dire rabbit fights in combat. I created her after reading Dungeon Meshi, so she tries to cook and eat everything we kill.

As the enter the Culverwood proper, Grindar keeps Cyrchwr Mawr (his Orc double ax) at the ready. He's heard all the stories of the forest, and isn't sure what to expect as this is his first time venturing in the sentient woods. He keeps Cotton (his rapke (re-skinned wolf) animal companion) close, as he fears the forest may not be so kind to a creature from the Sargrass Plains. He stays near the front of the party and does his best to remain alert, instructing Cotton to do likewise.

Welcome Kathy, For your benefit, I originally played Grindar in the Sargrass Plains game but recently moved him to Culverwood. He is good friends with Succotash (from Humble's Ford), and their paths have been known to cross, in fact it was Succotash who teleported him from the Sargrass to the Culverwood. He has yet to actually step foot in the woods, as he was teleported to the parties location, while they were still underground. He is a handsome and extremely muscular half orc who wares a Lamellar Cuirass (re-skinned Breastplate) made from pieces of an iridescent green giant beetle caprice, and wields Cyrchwr Mawr, his orc double ax, that was gifted to him by his father. (Cyrchwr Mawr is Welsh for giant slayer) Cotton is his ranger companion. She is an albino rapke that he acquired while sojourning in the Sargrass Plains.

As you exit, Ash looks around for a dragon tooth, but doesn't spot one.
Beech and Grindar keep their weapons ready. Naithi is more interested in defense than offense, and makes sure her armor is in place.
Lothlo points out that you need rest, though probably not right here.
Niall knows he's not the guy to find the way home, but Zazu has him covered.
You walk for about 30 minutes without incident. Despite all the warnings you've received about the Culverwood, your confidence begins to rise. This isn't so bad. True, there's no path or trail, which makes travel more challenging, but you've seen nothing of the kinds of terrors you've heard about.
You are quite certain you did not step into a pond, or a lake, or a river--or even see one for that matter. But suddenly, between one step and the next, you are under water. Light filters down from the surface of whatever this is, but down here the light is dim. And, of course, you can't breathe.

Ash generally isn't a great swimmer, but having been in a boggart form recently must have given her a little practice.

As the water press in around us I quickly look around for other dangers and try to determine what happened and what went around. With the dim light filtering through the water I am glad I have more light vision. All of us hold our breaths for the time being, having grown up in a similar enchanted forest bordering on a swamp where sink holes are not uncommon.

Niall opens his mouth to call out as the water is suddenly around them but that proves the wrong thing to do as his mouth fills with water and he barely stops himself from breathing it in. Head turning he kicks off from the forest.. er lake or pond bottom to try and get to the surface with the weight of his armor holding him down.

DM Kathy Wednesday April 7th, 2021 2:14:28 PM Beech swims like a rock, and looks upward to see if he can spot anything. He does not.
Naithi remains on Camalayas's back, with Fizzgig in her lap. So far so good. But Camalayas can't quite swim well enough to keep all three of you afloat. You begin slowly sinking to the bottom. Cuddly Mule is okay, swimming toward the surface.
Ash surprises herself by swimming pretty well, making for the surface.
Lothlo also swims well, and heads for the surface.
Zazu manages not to sink, but isn't making a lot of progress toward the surface, either. Boyo is just fine.
Niall is likewise able to stop himself from sinking, but can't make upward progress. Grindar and Cotton are in much the same position.
You were in the water so suddenly there wasn't time to take a deep breath beforehand. You are holding your breath now, but your lungs are starting to ache, and the surface of the water seems very far away.
Until suddenly, you are on dry land again. There is no sign of the lake or pond or whatever it was, and you are inclined to chalk the whole thing up as an illusion, except that you, your gear, and your clothes are all soaking wet. Around you, leaves ripple in the treetops. You'd swear the trees are laughing at you.

He eventually stands and then casts prestidigitation and proceeds to first take care of his bow and then the rest of his gear as well as preventing that wet cat smell... When he's done, "Who's next for Beech's grooming services?" he offers.....

ooc: Naithi is an awkward introvert that relates better to cuddly animals than people, but somehow rolls extremely high diplomacy checks despite putting nothing into the skill. Must be because she looks innocent and child like.
Whatever happened appears to have a large area of effect. Let's stick close together and keep our eyes peeled. I don't think they were trying to kill us. It seems a bit quick for that.

Grindar then breaks out in laughter, as he can't keep a straight face, and he knows his words are just bluster.

Humor is subjective, and most of you don't think that was very funny. Beech and Ash are ready with Prestidigitation to help dry people off. Zazu bows to the trees and laughs. Naithi makes a very diplomatic explanation, and invites whoever is behind the "joke" to come join you. Grindar's explanation is somewhat less polite.
You give it several minutes, but no animal, plant, or humanoid steps forward to speak with you.
Meanwhile Lothlo tosses some dirt in the air and watches it fall. It seems to fall normally, and whatever happened seems to be over.
So you press on, avoiding tree roots and sudden branches in the face. You get turned around a couple of times--merely confusing terrain or a deliberate attempt to stall you?--but you continue to make progress toward Freedom's Landing. You should be there soon.

Twilight is approaching as you pass out of the Culverwood and into the Tamed Lands. You see the smudge of smoke that marks the location of Freedom's Landing--or at least, of Freedom's Landing's campfires.
And just like that, you are home. The place still looks the same: tents huddled together around communal fires, and a couple of unfinished buildings. With any luck, the artifact you found can help change that.

Ash is glad to be back in the settlement and safely out of the woods. She considers who would be best suited to using the instrument to it's full potential. There is one name that stands out. "You know, Hillia is quite good with stringed instruments. I bet she'd be just the right person for the job!"
Back in the settlement she is quick to look for Mike, Brianna and Codru to see how they fared with their investigations into Myre's disappearance. A friend of hers has been abducted and she doesn't want the trail to get any colder.

Zazu too is eager to save Myre. The wizard holds his familiar bunny up to one ear. "What's that Boyo? You think we missed our chance? That was two modules ago? Silly bun-bun, what rubbish you talk!"
But after pondering the issue, Zazu says to Ash, "But what avenue do you think we can pursue to find Myre? I don't have any ideas. If they want leverage over us, won't they contact us? Or else why abduct her in the first place?"
The elf wishes Naro were here (a departed PC). He was a fine musician.

Grindar hears the talk of the missing Myre, and asks if their is anything he can do to help. Accustomed to living in a tent city, as New Rattledam is also under construction, the Ranger asks where would be a good place for him to pitch his tent.
