Toston remains in Dragon form and Hmerrin keeps the walking order as is. Gaffer's staff and Daylight spell alights the area all about the group.
The chamber is washed in a blueish glow with the 25' wide passage leading into it. Each side of the passage adds perhaps 15' additional feet as the ceiling slopes down below the 5' level. The floor is uneven, as it always has been, and is a bit slick with moisture. The right the chamber is lower by a series of short drops. Natural stone column formations dot the darkness and the sound of readily dripping water can be heard everywhere.
To the left, the cavern stretches out through a series of natural arches and stalagmites beyond your light, the blue glow and all vision.
Ahead, the chamber has a natural pedestal near the center and emanating a bluish light is helmet sized clouded crystal. It floats about 3 above the pedestal and turns slowly in a clockwise direction The crystal is uncut and the multitude of facets not only reflect your light, but seem to produce their own. Just above the crystal is what could best be described as a window.
The window shows a bizarre world of horror. Lands folded upon themselves so gravity is multi directional. Bizarre creatures with great spindly legs. Gouts of random fire, flashes of lightning and in the far distance, some massive mantis like creature with great writhing tentacles behind all of it
Gaffer spots something crouched in the caverns to the right is a creature, an amorphous body, spongy, a shapeless mass that folds and inverts upon itself. The druid recognizes the Chaos Beast. It appears to be alone
The creature is 30' away but to get the smoothly will require 2 jumps down requiring 2 Acrobatics DC 15
Dragon Toston easily makes the 2 acrobatic jumps having been trained in acrobatics. He waits to see if the rest of his friends were so fortunate preparing to fly back up for battle if anyone failed to get away.

Toston easily could bound down, but Hmerrin stops him Hmerrin wants more info and Dez is doing his paladin thing, which will take some time Des decides to take in the area and begins to Detect evil Sarge thinks to pull her rope of Climbing Out, but each drop is only 5', she can easily jump down. Her natural dwarfness simply means she end up on her bum with each hop Gaffer is not too keen on getting overly close to Chaos Beast and warns the others likewise Gaffer could use more healing and Sarge could easily accomodate before arriving in the cavern. Sarge healed Gaffer before getting here 27hp
Gaffer and Toston fill the group on on a Chaos Beast. No one is happy to know more about them. If struck by such a foul creature one can become cursed with an amorphous body. The victim becomes a spongy, shapeless mass. Unless the victim manages to control the effect, its shape constantly melts, flows, writhes, and boils. An affected creature is unable to hold or use any item. Clothing, armor, helmets, and rings become useless. Large items worn or carriedarmor, backpacks, even shirtshamper more than help, reducing the victim's Dexterity score by 4. Speed is reduced to 10 feet or one-quarter normal, whichever is less. The victim gains the amorphous quality, but cannot cast spells or use magic items, and it attacks blindly, unable to distinguish friend from foe. It is said that those of strong will can resist the curse for a moments here and there
The Chaos beast moves along to the group's right, lower in the natural cavern by the 2 natural large 5' steps. It does not, at the moment, seem interested in coming your direction
The Crystal and subsequently the Window lies in a basic straight path about 60' away. The ground is damp in some spots and uneven everywhere. To the right the cavern drops off of two consecutive drops of 5' with about 10' between the drops. The cavern dances off into the darkness and moving about is the Chaos Beast To the left, the cavern stretches through a series of natural arches and stalagmites well beyond your vision, but the route could be used to circle around
The Window shifts at the group takes in the scene, flickering to a cold tundra of blowing snow in a howling wind. The damp floor near the window ices over nearly instantly. Doorway, might be a more apt name for what you are looking at
Looking ahead, Dez detects no evil before him in the 60' conical emanation of his supernatural power

Hmerrin moves straight forward, taking time to watch his footing. If nothing horrible happens to him, he works his way up to, and then left of, the pedestal.
As he shifts, he notes if the crystal reacts, or if the doorway is still a doorway from a side perspective.
Also, would a grappling hook have a shot at snagging the crystal?

The group, rightfully so, is wary of the chaos beast and works to handle the Crystal and doorway first. The Chaos beast, moves further into he dark and away from the group and is soon lost to sight
Hmerrin thinks a grappling hook may catch, but the crystal is fairly smooth and the hook might not hold. As the fighter approaches he notes a very peculiar affect. The door way seems to face every direction at the same time, yet form every angle also appears to be purely 2 dimensional. From his current distance of 30', Hmerrin can feel the cold, like a deep winter night
Toston sneaks after Hmerrin, keeping a sharp eye out as he does. He tries to think back to anything he's ever read with regards to magic, spirituality or planar metaphysics that might apply to the crystal. Could dragon fire melt it maybe?

Toston gives the Crystal a good look over and is able to make out some runes etched into it and puts together a few pieces of information The Crystal and runes are components to a now powered spell that has created a semi pernament gate to different dimension pocket planes. It is acting like an activated magic item and should be subject to being destroyed like any other and that should close the gate Des steps up, empowers his ax and delivers a mighty blow. The damage to the crystal is slight, but noticeable Hmerrin looks about for something bad to happen Gaffer comes up with the group as well and keeps a sharp eye out
The scene through the doorway shifts back to the original nightmarish plane of fire and twisting landscape. Just on the other side a horrid form roils into view. Another Chaos beast and this one is heading for the doorway. The flesh and limbs snap and fold into itself as it propels itself across the land. it flows and falls in several random directions as gravity pulls at it from mulitple different directions. A near human face begins to appear, eyes pleading, before that too melts back into the fleshy broil It is still beyond the plane of the doorway, but will emerge in the next few seconds

Toston charges his attacks with magic and strikes the Crystal several times, inflicting some damage Sarge strikes the Crystal infused with her divine strength Des strikes the Crystal 3 additional times, though only the last blow mars the hard surface Hmerrin grips his battle axe and slams into the Crystal, actually severing several large pieces.
The 'Doorway' shifts as Hmerrin lays into the Crystal and a blue pulse flares out. It seems to pass through all of you and beyond, streaking out of the cavern and back the way you came.
A deep forest fractured by spears of brilliant golden sunlight from above appears in place of the nightmare plane of before. Energy seems to practically pulse from the wood, ground and vegetation. The feeling of being watched and judgment falls over you, as a near omniscient presence within this plane begins to reach out to understand who would dare intrude

Gaffer was prepared for something more reckless, but hears Hmerrin's suggestion just in time to remember that he does have safer options.
He will cast Wall of Stone to form a box surrounding the Chaos Beast and layer it to be as think as possible. He isn't sure if the Chaos Beasts curse could be applied to the walls or not and he says to the others, "I have one more stone wall, if this one doesn't slow it down though, I'm going to wildshape and engage to see if I can buy time."

Toston lets loose upon the Crystal with his dragon's breath, blackening and cracking it Des strikes the Crystal twice Sarge smacks the Crystal Hmerrin asks if Gaffer can wall off the blob abd hits the crystal several more times Gaffer walls in the creature, a 5x5 cage, 10' tall and just over an inch thick
A feeling of peace washes over each of you and another blue pulse is emitted from the Crystal as Toston's fire and dez's ax strike The eDoorway' shifts: A flat and grey endless plain stretches before you. The sky is dull and red. Nothing stirs. Knowledge Planes DC 20 Highlight to display spoiler: {The Lands of Unrest stretch out before you} Hmerrin's axe hits the Crstal, and again. Another blue pulse and the Doorway shifts A lush jungle can be seen, yet completely manicured with groomed trees, topiarires and deep emerald green grass cropped close as to be about an inch high. A river rushes away from your view to the right and about 50 yards away, lounging on a chaise lounge is a Large blue skinned female humanoid with the head of a tiger. Fanning her is a well built muscular and barely clothed human man and feeding her some sort of small fruit, perhaps grapes, is an equally unclothed female elf. The blue skinned women bolts upright to look at you through the window, her Golden Eyes flicker, just as the entire Doorway fades to nothing.
The Crystal, simply falls to the ground in pieces. The door is gone, the cavern dark save for the Daylight spell on Gaffer's staff
Within the stone enclosure, the Chaos beast scratches and claws. It will be through in a few seconds
Crystal Destroyed

"Alright team - the crystal's broken, the portal's disappeared, and the crazy blob monster is tearing it's way through stone. I say we hightail it out of here and celebrate with Sarge's people when we get back!" says Desdichado. He waits for the others to move out, warily watching the stone wall disintegrating, before going himself.
Toston says, "Anyone else see that Rakshasha in there? Do you think it had anything to do with this crystal thing?"
Toston being able to fly, prepares to cover the retreat of the others.
He says, "Anyone got anything else we can distract the chaos beast with. I do not know how implacable a foe it maybe but I got a bad feeling about it. I'm hard to hit and can fly, maybe just maybe I can buy us some time and cover the retreat if we don't have any summons or anything to throw at it to slow it down."

The group decides it is best to fall back, recoup powers and then take out the last few things stalking about the caverns, all of which could likely take out any dwarf that come a calling. The group exits the cavern with the Crystal and quickly make their way to the base of the waterfall. Toston leads the way up, and while a bit more diffficult then the descent, no one has undue trouble. Hmerrin keeps an eye out on the rear and the Chaos Beast never appears, nor do any other horrors.

Toston locates a section of cavern and cave that looks just as good as about any other and the group falls in to rest. A watch order is set and sharp eyes keep a watch for the ghouls and the Chaos Beast
Toston suggests fire for the Chaos Beast after he has prepared his spells and idea works well for all
The deep cave complex seems full of sound, once the party is still and open to them. The dull roar of the great waterfall is audible as is the sound of dripping water into shallow pool and the flutter of unseen creatures with wings somewhere in the darkness and the occasional chirp of some insect life. Beyond the fluttering light of torches or a Light spell, everything is pitch and knowing if something comes at the camp, you will have little to no warning, makes for a long, tense tour on watch
However, nothing beyond your active imaginations takes place and the party is soon set to go

The group is healed and ready to go. Toston casts a few long longer lasting spells as does Gaffer and the group sets out to take on the ghouls in the catacombs, which is about 20 minutes away. Feel free to adjust any spell cast to accomadate for duration
As the group sets out, Toston thinks back to the Chaos Beast. Could it have been undead? Perhaps is the best answer he can come up with. He never got very close, but everything else has been. Then again, you know the doorway opened to many places.
Des leads the way and Hmerrin takes up the rear guard.
The group retraces their steps. Back into the cavern of spider things and the great chasm. Into the large corridor that eventually connects to the great tri pod crab things. Both of the creatures, right where you left them.
Eventually the party closes on the long and many routed corridor where the ghouls have been previously encountered. It does not take long for your presence to be noticed. Perhaps 80' in you hear the tell tale chatter of teeth gnashing hard into themselves and the sound of a talon scraping across rock. All is dark beyond the Daylight spell from Gaffer

Toston casts Shield and follows that with Fly Sarge asks the group on thier opinions of Hide from Undead, although last time it did not seem to help Des can grant a bessing to his companioins, but everyone needs to stay very close to him Gaffer casts a summoning spell and cuts off the ghouls escape with tigersmoves in near Des and readies a Sunbeam spell. He suggests foregoing the hiding spell as he feel the group wants the ghouls to find them, so thery can end them Hmerrin moves up to Des and agrees with Gaffer, no on the Hide spell
Like the last couple of encounters, the ghouls spend a few moments building the terror and suspense. The party has been through this before and waits. Patience and steely nerves pay off. Sprinting from around a pair of corners they come. One from the front of the group and one from the rear

Sarge cast Remove Paralysis on Des, freeing him instantly. Des looks about, noting they did not explore this area much. The dwarves apparently have not either as the map moves in a straight line past all of the numerous side passages The group heads back now to the last chamber where the Chaos Beast was captured in the Wall of thorns and Wall of Stone . Toston plans to fight the beast as a dragon, with fire and if the thing is not undead, enervation spells as well Des does not believe the creature to be undead as he did not detect evil in the chamber of the crystal
The group moves back and after descending the waterfall stapes again, you make your way down the final corridor and into the chamber where the crystal use resided.
Gaffer's light spills into the room and reveals the Wall of Thorns, still in place just at the edge of vision to those with Low Light Vision. At this distance of just about 100' no one can tell if the wall has been breached

Gaffer suggest the group toss some torches about for light and Hmerrin does just that, as the druid shifts into the form of a Fire Elemental. De and Sarge, being limited in ranged firepower hang back a bit so as not to be too easily engaged by the Chaos Beast

Coming around the wall is a Large Chaos Beast. A folding form of everything imaginable nearly 12' high and almost as wide.
Gaffer's Flame Strike and Toston's Enveration spells blast into it. Hmerrin's arrow is quick to follow
