Rurik Ironjaw (Robert) | AC 19 | CMD 19 | 48/48 HP | Monday August 9th, 2021 8:23:39 PM
Rurik shakes his head at Haemir's words.
"I have no living family that I wish to speak with again. If are no more issues with this, then let us be off when we can."
Rurik retreats back to his area and falls into his meditation, annoyed, but trying not to show it.

with all your business done at the Big Bamboo, the Ship heads off.
Many are unsure how the information can help with navigation but Thomas seems to think that it may come in handy, only once the clouds have moved on, as without a "frame of reference" he cannot accurately fix Longitude.
The Maiden of the Plains sails on.
The gray clouds make navigation difficult but at the same time offer a break from the oppressive sun of the Sargrass.
From the last calculations, you were 2 days out of New Rattledam.
The clouds dissipate 3 days later and after some figuring Thomas figures, you have drifted North East quite a bit. This is unwelcome, as the wind is out of the South West, which means that you will have to "tack" into the wind by sailing at angles to the wind, the only way to sail against the wind.
Having to do so makes the ship "lean" away from the wind as it sails.
The deck is constantly tilted to a 15 to 20° angle. footing is treacherous, eating a meal at a table is impossible and sleeping...well...now you know why sailors sleep in hammoks.
Haemir (Rich) AC:13/13/10 - HP:41/41 - CMD:15 | Fand: AC:20- HP:49/49 Tuesday August 10th, 2021 4:54:47 AM
In the first few days of The Maiden the rail around the edge was put to good use - small.lengths of rope were attached and could be tied around a waist or held on to for such conditions. Haemir reminds people .. Better not to fall over board here and it's not like there wasn't enough rope.
Haemir seems quiet and reflective on the journey. At night he listens to the grass, during the day he helps the crew and occasionally practices on his violin.
Rubalad (SteveK) AC/T/FF 23/13/20 CMD 20 HP 47/52 Ruby Tuesday August 10th, 2021 9:03:44 AM
Rubalad is on unfamiliar ground, despite the boat being ‘urban terrain’. He starts the process to learn more about his immediate (the Maiden) and larger (the Sargrass) environment.
He has heard the Sargrass is usually really hot, really dry, and an endless sea of grasses of all types. It takes experiencing it to get those basics down into his marrow. He also begins learning things about the boat, starting with that it is actually a ‘ship’. Ruby shrugs, one name is as good as another to the badger-kin. He also learns what is a ‘mast’ and ‘deck’. And the reasons for hammocks.
Naturally agile, Ruby has little trouble with a 20 degree slopes deck, and continues to learn from the non-hero crew.
…..
Acrobatics. Min 6. Less <45 slope more than 3’ across, slightly unsteady like a boat in rough seas = DC 4
Herbert Bramblerose (Bill Soucy) Tuesday August 10th, 2021 11:18:35 PM Herbert does his best to stay stable on the rough ride, trying not to lose his lunch, envious of Ruby's agility.
