Kristoph goes for the jaw and hits but fails to stun the half orc
Isaac draws a sap and awaits an opening
Teddy and GoreThum jumps into the fray.
Tae-Che offers morale support
Snark adds to the frogpile
Einar Thinks a little one on one is the honorable path
Faeloi goes for the legs, but the half orc keeps his footing with a grunt.

Ah-Yes gives a hard right hook to Faeloi as she grabs for his legs (AoO hits AC 26), Dealing 6 Non-lethal With the penalty for being hit she fails to knock him over.

Otto misses Gore'thum as the frog jumps in, and is grappled.

The half-orc easily grabs Faeloi (CMB 26, no AoO) and is now holding her, "Haha, Oh-No has lady friend now."

Otto wiggles his way out of the frogs hold (Escape Artist 27), "Slimy fellow aren't you" and hold his ground.

Teddy gets confused. "Wait, is this supposed to be a wrestling match, first to pin wins, or a brawl? All of us, or one on one? Oh, you're Walru?" Gore"Thum, also unsure, decides to just keep it a clean wrestling match for the moment and somehow manages to grapple Otto again (22 to grapple again, still provokes AoO).

Kristoph notes the half-orc's skill when he grabs Faeloi, clearly he's a seasoned brawler as he didn't leave himself open to a counter at all.
"Don't underestimate these two, they're good! No amateur would challenge eight adventurers to last man standing unless they were confidant!"

He sidesteps (5' M3 to N3) and flurrys the half-orc (Attack #1: 6 goes wide (probably because he is still grinning at the "Frogpile" comment), #2; 20 to hit (not natural) is a scorcher: connecting for 10 damage - non-lethal) a palm blow to his midsection. He is glad he'd met these two. He liked them already.

"Oh no!" Faeloi is not pleased that Oh-No could grab her so easily, but she's not surprised. She has a half-orc friend back home. She didn't figure this would go well for her, but she's enjoying herself.
"Ah yes! Take him down Kristoph!"
She attemps to elbow Oh-No, but he has her arms pinned. "Oh no you don't Mr. Ah-oh-Yes-No!"

Snark looks at Einar. He feels a little sorry the guy is having a hard time figuring out what to do, and tries to help the big guy.

"Hey Einar - snap out of it! We're gettin our hats handed to us here! Do the burly fighter thing and just hit something!"

Then he addressing this Otto guy, "And you! You were Walru all along!" Snark winds up his staff and swings with both hand to crack the guy in the shin. He only hits AC 15, missing Walru.

Tae Che looks around for a stone or shell nearby her. She will pick it up and throw it at Oh-no, hoping for the best. The rock bounces off the large bicep causing a small welt and lands a few feet away. (AC:13, not sure of damage, I'll say 2.) She smiles as she sees the bruise then realizes she caused a real injury.

Kristoph notes the opponent's skill and winds the half-orc.
Isaac?
Teddy and GoreThum sits on Walru again.
Tae-Che throws a rock, with raises a loud Boo from the ship
Snark in classic gnome style goes for the knees, and misses.
Einar wonders what to do.
Faeloi struggles, both with names and body. Neither seem very effective.

Walru swings again as the frog tries to sit on him, but as focuses as he is on defense he doesn't hit. He is grappled by the frog.

Walru replies, "Oops, did I say the wrong name again. I really need to stop doing that. I said last man standing, so get in here big fellow." He then once again slips out of Gore'thum's hold (Escape Artist 18). Returning to his defensive position and giving a wink to Einar.

Oh-No grunts at the punch and growls at the rock but they give him the encouragement he needs. With barely trace of effort he bodily lifts Faeloi off the ground and carries her off (CMB 30), provoking an AoO from Kristoph and Teddy. He barely reaches the fecal pile and with a huge wicked grin let's go off his lady friend. "You want be put down, OK."

Faeloi you get a DC 15 Reflex save, Failure means you are in the fecal pile in square K10. Success lands you in your choice of K9 or L10.

Several sailors pick up and aim crossbows at Tae-Cha, "No more rocks missy", but hold their fire at the moment.

Gore'Thum gives up on the grappling and goes for an attack but the man's guard is too strong for him to get a hit through (6 to hit). Teddy hovers anxiously, casting a spell would certainly be against the impromptu rules but he is way to intimidated to try to trade punches.

Kristoph sees an opening this time and takes it (attack of opportunity on the half-orc: 14 for 10 points non-lethal).

Then with his normal attacks he flurrys (attack: 15 & 22; for 9 & 5 damage non-lethal). A barrage of open hand palms to some tender spots. He can't help but grin at the half-orc's sense of humor.

Faeloi sees a glint in the half-orc's eyes and looks down just in time to land squarely in the pile of....eeeeewwww. Well, she's been in worse. Now she'll need a bath. Good thing they're right by the water. At least she won't have to carry all this grime back to the inn and get teased by her brother.
Faeloi stands up (provokes AoO) and steps back 5 feet.

Snark winces as he watches Faeloi dropped into the pile of fish guts. "Eww. Hey Faeloi, give that guy a great big hug. 'Cause, you know, sharing is caring."

Then Snark once again grips his little staff like a ball bat, and swings with both hands at Walru's shin. And once again he misses (hits AC 3). "Dang it! Will you stand still so I can hit ya! Oh, and you guys aren't gonna get those silver pieces at this rate!"

Walru taunting Einar makes the barbarian feel quite stupid for thinking this was going to be a fair one on one. Seeing the skill these guys have makes him realize he got it all wrong...
The wink was just about enough to get Einar into a rage...

Faeloi is the only one Oh-No. The rest are all on Walru. Einar figures he might want to try and help out Faeloi. He walks up to Oh-No and attempts to bullrush him into the fecal pile. Einar provokes an AoO and fails his bullrush attempt. (Bullrush CMB 7 vs CMD 20 - failure).

Kristoph slams Oh-no again leaving the Half-orc reeling. Then steps up and pops Walru with a punch.
Isaac joins the mob trying to hit Walru.
Teddy and GoreThum tries to hit Walru.
Tae-Che shouts encouragement.
Snark tries to hit Walru.
Einar goes after On-No, but comes up short.
Faeloi stands up and moves out of the dung pile

Oh-no is a gentleman and lets Faeloi stand up freely. His generosity ends when Einar comes barreling in and he lands a jab into his shoulder (20 to hit) Einar takes 7 non-lethal

Walru continues his game of fighting defensively, and throws out a quick jab at Kristoph (16 to hit) dealing 4 non-lethal before calling for some help, "Hey Oh-No, could use a little help over here."

Of potentially much greater concern, as Faeloi pulls herself out of the slop she notices wriggling. Disturbed from their slumber 6 giant centipedes come angrily chittering out! Surrounding Faeloi and Oh-No. Each one is about a foot long.

4 of them attack Faeloi, failing to get their pincers through her armor. (16, 15, 5, 9)

The other 2 attack Oh-No. And one manages to bite the half orc. (18, 2)

Oh-No, standing only the ferocity of his orc blood, let's out almost a whimper at the sight of the bugs and squashes one with his boot before falling to the ground, a centipede crawling on top of him.

"Sorry Walru, we got a bigger issue than wrestlemania here."

"Quick - somebody get that Oh-No-Yes-Maybe guy outta there. And Faeloi is in trouble. Fortunately, we have a frog, and frogs like bugs."


Then the little gnome runs around Walru, hoping he won't attack us while we try to save his friend. He stops and fires a glob of acid at a centipede (C5), hitting the thing (hits touch AC 12) for 5 damage! Finally!

Isaac decides to ignore Walru and runs over to Oh-No. The half orc's safety came first in this instance. He drops his Sap and pulls out his short sword as he runs over to the fallen man. If he can he will try and pull the half orc away from the pile of centipedes.

Kristoph runs up and stomps a centipede

Tae-Che freezes the dung
Snark with his target stomped dissolves a different centipede
Einar now has two half centipedes
Faeloi also has two half centipedes

With a great amount of zeal the party rushes in to save Oh-No. In almost the blink of an eye all that remains is one centipede stuck on the end of Gore-Thum's tongue. Short work is made of it.

Walru holds his punches as people rush by him, concern for Oh-No evident on his face. He hurries over to the half-orc and finds him safe and healed before he can even get there.

He holds out his hand to anyone and everyone, "I'm pretty sure we had you guys on the ropes, but after that heroic rescue I feel the only honorable thing to do is to concede. If you'd like to come about the Yearly Hawk we can tend to those bruises and talk about your predicament somewhere with a little more privacy.", he looks around suspiciously as he finishes his statement.

Everyone gets 400 XP!

"Oh boy, a boat trip! Sounds great. I mean, we are riding in a boat, right? Yer...yer not gonna make us swim, right?"


Then turns to Faeloi, "Well, a ship is tight quarters. And - oof - noooobody wants to sit next to you like that lassie. Lemme see what I can do." The little gnome cracks his knuckles and then with a few gestures he uses Prestidigitation to get Faeloi all cleaned up. And while he's at it, he uses the spell to get her chain shirt polished up and glinting in the sun.

"That's better. Now you're ship-shape there lass."

Kristoph grins then becomes serious: "I am glad that 'Ah-wait-a-minute' is still 'Ah-Yes' and not 'Oh-No' after all! I wish now that I had grappled him instead of hitting him lots of times.
And yes 'Not Walru' if by winning you mean your side soaked up more punches then we did? You had us on the ropes indeed."
He adds a cheeky wink, forgetting that when you wear an eye patch - it just looks like you're blinking.

He gently slaps those involved in saving the half-orc on their backs and wipes the slime off of his boots in the sand and then the sea.
It didn't matter who won you learned a lot when you fought with a man. The same couldn't be said for centipedes.
They just stank and left your shoes gunky.

He's happy the scrapper is over because Oh-No sure gave him a nice bruise!

Should Oh-No be still on the ground the Barbarian sticks out a hand to help him up.
"I don't want to run into that shoulder of yours again... I'd rather share some ale instead."

Snark cleans up their stinky companion.
Einar offers a hand of friendship.
Faeloi is concerned about her mess.

Oh-No accepts the aid and regains his feet, "You fight good." He rubs some of the bruises given him.

Walru motions to the longboat and it doesn't take long to get you all aboard the Yearly Hawk. He issues some commands and some of the crew bring out some herbs and salves. They stink a little and sting on some of the worst bruises but they bring quick comfort. Everyone is healed of all non-lethal damage

Perception or Sense Motive DC 12 Highlight to display spoiler: {You notice as you interact with the crew something odd. Unlike every citizen of Heranmar you've run into, you see no signs of superstition. Which is doubly odd since sailors are generally extra superstitious. But there are no wards against evil, no hurried prayers against ill luck, or anything of the sort aboard.}

Walru then leads you into the rear cabin, which somehow fits all of you, and offers cool drinks. "Alright, let's get introductions done proper. I'm Walru Gumboot, best smuggler on the southern continent, this is my right hand man Oh-No, and we're aboard the fastest ship on the sea, the Yearly Hawk. Back on shore you mentioned how you're looking into the disappearance of the town's pet gold fish. And you said the fortune teller said there was a mastermind behind it." He frowns, obviously thinking something over.

"Against the walls between here and the Sea Gate are the warehouses. One was recently bought by a character named Mudee Watters. Among his acquisitions are 10 barrels of drinking water. You think he would have sold them immediately to the Next Horizon, but he didnt. Said the water was all contaminated and he would have to empty them out. Only he hasnt yet., he looks around the group waiting if there are any questions.

Gore'Thum can't raise an eyebrow, but he can sort of widen an eye to simulate it. "Muddy Waters? Either a pseudonym or someone who's parents had an amusing sense of humor. Presumably the water was to make a pond for the fish, if this is connected to the theft."

He asks if Muddee is human and what sort of numbers he has.

Snark is a bit nervous aboard the longboat as he's not a good swimmer, but is happy to set food aboard the larger Yearly Hawk. He says to no one in particular, "You know, I spent a few years aboard a ship like this, a bit larger through, as a carpenter." He pays special attention to the woodwork on the ship. He is also very interested in the herbs and salves they use, asking about them - what sort of plants they use, how they made them, etc - and if he can buy some.

As he looks around, he notices something different about this lot and asks, "So, you folks don't seem as figgity and superstitious as those Heranmarians. Why's that?"

Later, in the captain's cabin he has a couple questions:

"You know that dead fella Sloe, Gargul rest his soul, said 'The fish is in mysterious water, many waters.' What do you suppose that means?"

"He also said that other folk couldn't find a fish like that 'cause they can't look in muddy water. Do you spose he meant this fella, or sumpthin else? And if it is actually muddy water, do you know where we can find a filter for such a thing?"

"Thank you very much Mr. Snark." Faeloi is glad to be rid of the muck. She turns to Oh-No. "Good fight, Oh-No. That was very entertaining although I could have done without being dropped in rot or whatever that was."

Faeloi heads aboard the ship and also notices the lack of wards. Maybe they're not from Heranmar. Or maybe the superstition doesn't extend to water. If that were the case though, why wouldn't people spend more time in boats or build structures on the water? That probably wasn't right.

Walru harrumphs as you ask about the lack of signs and wards, "People around here are way too worried about a bunch of spirits that don't even realize we exist. Everything in life can be had with the proper skill and a little bit of luck. Wishing away on a spirit just gives you an excuse to be mediocre."

"Now as to old Mudee, don't know much about him. I imagine he keeps his warehouse locked up tight, most around here do. And for someone to be holding onto so much fresh water, that might be contaminated, but then not dump it... Seems pretty mysterious to me. And if old Sloe was being quite literal the names do match up. I'd be real careful if you move against him though, I imagine that gnome wasn't the only one on his payroll capable of handling a blade, if he's the one behind all this."

Gore'Thum thanks Walru for the information and assures him they'll get backup. After all the whole town is looking for the fish and surely the local law enforcement would help them get a warrant and provide some back up while they check the place out. It wouldn't due for 8 random people to break into the place on a suspicion of wrong-doing after all. From his comments the frog expects things to be simple, but his tone says that he knows something will go horribly wrong at some point. Teddy looks worried. "We'll be careful right?"

As for myself, I was born in dirt city but the sea is my life. Heranmar is my base of operations, good business opportunities here, and the docks have less bureaucrats than Dirt City."

Walru scratches his chin when asked what Mudee looks like, "Never seen the fellow myself but I've heard he's a tall lanky fellow, looks kind of creepy. As for the fish, people around here view it as sort a good luck charm for the whole town. It's supposed to keep all the good spirits happy and the bad spirits away. If it doesn't get returned soon everyone's gonna start blaming everything bad on the fish disappearing, be afraid to do anything important, the whole town will shut down. But I best let you all get on with your business, Oh-No takes these fine folk back to shore."

Oh-No leads the way and soon you all find yourself back on dry land. It's been a busy day and several feel the need for rest. The Inn is the only real lodging in town, Faeloi has been staying there, she came in a few days before. The sheriff's office is by the western gate. and the warehouses are all grouped by the docks.

"The town is gonna be full of paranoid, curtain-twitchers for the next few days. I mean they were already immersed in a level of paranoia that beggars belief. So before we look like we are trying to take the law into our own hands I vote we speak to the Sheriff. More's the point let's see what happened to the gnome he arrested. I don't think either will know anything about this skinny weird guy Walru mentions, but the Sherrif'll be able to tell us about the docks, the layout and maybe more. Also, we should find out if and how the watch can assist us. Is he prepared to send help if needed, or are we on our own." he shrugs.

Snark waits until we're ashore before lighting his pipe. He puffs on it as he walks. Snark knows Isaac or Tae Che probably make a better first impression than the little gnome - he's gotten into trouble shooting his mouth off before.

"Well, Walru said the warehouses are against the wall between here and the Sea Gate, so we should be able to walk past 'em and go into town by the Sea Gate. And then see the Sherriff.

"Suit yourself talkin' to the Sheriff, but I had a guy tell me once, 'You don't ask a question if you don't wanna know the answer.' Asking about the gnome is smart. Maybe you can let him know we were looking for a job, that somebody said maybe we could get a job at the warehouses, but we were told that we'd best avoid some fella named Mudee. Ask the Sherrif what he knows about Mudee and which warehouse might be his to avoid?"


What do we see walking past the warehouses? Any security? Any people matching the description we got for Mudee? Snark takes out his little bat familiar and shows him the warehouses for future reference.

Back on dry land he decides that while it's important to find the fish, for now he needed a break and heads back over to the Inn to check if any rooms are still available to rent. He had the feeling that he might be here in town for a while and he preferred having at least a place to sleep.

The warehouses are on the way to most of the rest of town so you take a walk past them. You're able to ask around and figure out which warehouse changed hands recently. It's a solid looking building not much different than any of the others. Faeloi and Tae'che do notice that the door and windows have recently been replaced with very sturdy padlocked versions. You don't see anyone who seems to be hanging around that warehouse in particular.

You then head over to the Barracks. You recognize the deputy at the front desk as one of the men on duty at the pool. He recognizes you in return. "Good of you to finally stop by. Sheriff has some business with you. Wait one moment." He then steps into a back office and you hear some muttered conversation. Very shortly a stout florid man with a serious face steps out with the deputy, "So here's the newest "adventurers" come to cause trouble in my town. But where's my manners, Eugene Bates, Sheriff of Heranmar. So why don't you tell me why there was bloodshed in the town square this morning?" He casts a critical eye over the group, waiting for answers.

Got diverted. Apologies." the large frog says. Teddy looks a little surprised to see Gore'Thum apologize before quickly adding his own. "We were coming here when some adventurer lady pulled us over and the deputies didn't seem to mind."

The little gnome lets his pipe go out at he approaches the sheriff's office so as not to bring smoke inside. He knocks the spent tobacco out, careful to not allow any live embers cause a problem.

Snark lags back a bit and waits for others to answer the Sheriff's question about bloodshed. Snark's not a big law and order guy and doesn't want to get crosswise with the Sheriff.

As he does so he looks around the Barracks (Perception 9). He nods to the deputy he recognizes from before and says quietly, "Hey, nice seeing you again. So where's that jerk gnome that killed Sloe and attacked us? Is he new in town like us or is he a town regular? Anybody come asking about him?"

Faeloi isn't a fan of asking Mudee about the fish and tells Einar so. A decent smuggler like Walru isn't going to tell a random stranger squat about what he's smuggling; a corrupt smuggler like Mudee is more likely to just attempt to knock you off you for getting too close to the truth.

As Faeloi wasn't around for the bloodshed (other than some centipedes), she stays quiet and looks around with Snark (perception 19) at the Sheriff's place.

Tae Che, as she had a fairly front row seat to the happenings, answers the sheriff. "Good Sheriff Bates, we are all new in town and were intrigued by the ramblings of the man called Sloe regarding the fish that, I gather, is something of an icon of good tidings and that it was gone. He asked several of us to sit with him so he could give more context to the fish when he was brutally murdered in front of us by the gnome and two humans. The gnome said something to the effect of 'They know who we are, kill them.' and that's when me and my compatriots took to the justice the three deserved. When the guards appeared, wishing for a non-lethal resolution, that is when the tactics changed and you have the gnome and another in your clutches. I deeply regret that not all three will receive their due justice by the law."

It was self defense that we started fighting and I'm sorry that it resulted in blood shed but I will not be killed so easily by a bunch of thugs."

I did some checking of the scene and into the two prisoners you left in my care. They're rotten customers through and through. Wanted on murder charges in Dirt City. Third was as well so you saved him a trip to the gallows. They're not saying much. But speaking of the prisoners, rule around here is you bring in a wanted man you get whatever is on his person. All their gear is in that locker over there, it's yours. You found any leads on our missing fish? He wards himself against ill luck at even the thought of the town's lucky fish being missing.

The sheriff responds to the questioning, "Not much passes in a town this size that I don't hear about. Especially when a bunch of new folk are loudly asking around the dock for a certain smuggler and then come knocking with information no one else has. But we also need our fish back.", he shudders and makes a sign against evil, "If you're looking to catch never-do-wells out dawn is the best time. Good morals lead to early rising. If it's agree-able to you, I'll have Morris meet you at the Inn at first light. And you can give this warehouse a look over."

Unless there are further questions for the sheriff or others the next scene will be at the warehouse. Do you rest? What time do you want to approach? And what is your approach strategy? Morris will just go to the front door with the harbor master key if no one else directs him.

Gore'Thum and Teddy are happy to meet the sheriff's man at the inn in the morning. Gore'Thum finally gets a chance to take a bath like he's been wanting to do since he got off the boat. Afterwards he hangs around the common room for a bit looking incredibly relaxed.

Snark had pointed out the warehouse to his bat familiar when we were there.

Once it's dark outside the Inn, Snark will cast Speak with Animals. He will say to his bat, "Now listen to me Twinkle, I want you to go to that building I showed you before. Be careful. If there's any risk, just come back here. Any cats or owls that could get you, just come back.

"But if it's safe, I want you to hang around outside for a while and see where people come in and out. If there is an easy way to squeeze in, take a look around inside. Then come back to me, and in the morning I'll ask you what you saw. I'll be inside here and will let you in when you return.

"Remember Twinkle, be careful and don't stay if it's not safe."
He pets the little creature and sends her off.

(Twinkle has lowlight vision, blindsense 20', AC 17, INT 6. She maintains an empathic link with Snark as long as she's within one mile if him, so she should be able to let him know when she returns.)

Snark will rest for a total of 8 hours, and plans to rise before dawn to study spells. How much was a room at the inn?

Back at the inn everyone manages to get a room for 5 sp a night, breakfast and dinner included. The party gets in some well deserved rest, but not before Snark sends out a sneaky little scout. Twinkle nods in acknowledgement and disappears into the night. Snark gets a few different feeling over the course of the mission, hungry, yummy, CAT!, relief, interest, boredom, interest, back to boredom, and then Twinkle finds her way back. In the morning she seems ready to make her report.

You all get up fully rested and find some nice warm biscuits and gravy ready in the main room even before first light. True to the sheriff's word a deputy enters the inn in short order, a large key ring hanging from his waist, "Spirits bless you this morning. I'm Morris. Ready to go?"

Kristoph is just finishing the last mouthful of his warm biscuits and gravy, he lets the spoon gently tinkle against the bowl, cracks his knuckles and rolls his shoulders and neck as if limbering up before standing and slightly bowing to the deputy.
"Good morning Morris and may the spirits bless you too. Ready for this?"

Interesting fact about Kristoph. He's borderline paranoid and consequently always tries to read people to the best of his ability.
(Sense Motive on the deputy: 11). In this case he's just looking for something unexpected [OOC note to refs: most of the time there is no need to reply unless he sees something off].

Snark is relieved to have his little bat back. He'll scratch her head a bit as she delivers her report. Then he rises and studies spells.

Coming down into the common room for breakfast, he holds up his bat familiar as he says to the others, "I sent Twinkle off to check out the warehouse comings and goings. She wasn't able to get inside, which means they got that place locked up tighter than a dwarf's purse. Still, she did see someone go in with a heavy barrel and not come out.

"Also, we oughta spilt up some of this stuff we got so it'll be useful."


Later the little gnome looks up at Tae-Che as he eats. "I saw you cast Color Spray yesterday, so I didn't bother with that spell today. So, my offensive spells aren't so good, but I can make that Einar fella big."

The party seems determined to enter the warehouse and leads the way down to the docks. Most of the town still appears to be asleep, but there are a few people moving around, most appear to be fishermen. They give a wide berth to the armed group accompanied by a lawman. You arrive at the line of warehouses without anyone seeming to notice you. The south side of the warehouse faces the road and has a standard office door, locked tight two closely shuttered windows, and large loading door. The east and west sides are blank walls with a 5 foot wide alley between them and the adjacent warehouses. The north side has a large loading door leading to the docks. Twinkle noted the two men enter through the office door. Morris has a master key to unlock the office door, "Sheriff told me to let you all lead. Do you want me to unlock the door or you need to look around more?"

The party scopes out the building. There are 5 potential entry points they can see.
1. The office door - a standard 5 foot wide wooden door locked tight.
2 & 3. Windows on each side of the office door - technically big enough for a human to climb through large shutters cover these windows locked tight.
4 & 5. Large loading doors on each side of the warehouse. These are 10 foot wide and very heavy. Opening them would be a task for several people and would take some time.

There seems to be some confusion as to the location of the doors. I probably should have provided a map earlier. So feel free to position yourselves on the map at your desired starting location. I took some best guesses.

As Morris opens the office door you hear some low voices within the building. It goes very quiet as the light from the early morning sun spread through the dimly lantern lit room. Inside you see a number of unsavory characters, including a pair of gnomes. They are standing around 10 water barrels and appear to be transferring something between the barrels. As the light catches off the object held by the thin man in the middle of the room you see a flash of gold and he drops a fish into the barrel in front of him.

"What is the meaning of this intrusion!" He yells at those gathered at the door.

Snark casts Silent Image, and a large, ominous cloud forms in the warehouse rafters above Mudee's head. The image of the cloud occasionally flashes with light from within. Snark hopes this will draw their attention and cause them to think twice about attacking.

Snark swallows hard as he steps into the corner of the warehouse, gesturing for the more fighty types to do so also. He really doesn't want to die today. He hopes his voice doesn't crack as he speaks.

"Take it easy Mudee, take it easy. There doesn't have to be any bloodshed unless that's how you want this to end. We're just here for the fish. We have Deputy Morris here, and we have guards posted outside your warehouse doors. The whole town's lookin' for that fish you have there. Any false move and Morris there informs the Sherriff and the town you have their fish. This place is twitchier than a long tail cat in a rocking chair shop with that fish gone, so unless want the whole town coming down on your head you best give up the fish and end this peacefully.

"Oh, and you gnomes should know better than to be involved in this sort of thing."

Morris is clearly getting very nervous about the amount of weapons being shown, both by the party and by the crew inside the warehouse as they all have put hands on hilts. "Maybe I should get the sheriff." He takes a couple steps back, leaving the door clear.

The human glances up at the storm cloud for but a moment and then completely ignores it. "You've ruined everything! Kill them!" he screams before with a quick incantation he disappears.

Kristoph mutters "I guess that concludes negotiations" and takes a 5 ft step (along the wall) using a barrel as cover, reaching inside his sleeve he draws and throws two shuriken (being monk weapons/ammunition they are drawn as a free action and can be used in flurry with 10 ft range). He aims for the nearest thug (N-11: Attack:22 (nat 20 but fails to confirm crit) for 5 damage and: 20 also for 5 damage).

"Listen boys, you're leader is not thinking straight. He went invisible, so you should assume his plan will be to escape this situation shortly and leave you all holdin the barrels. Think about it - the sheriff's office knows where we are, so the whole town will know where this place is and where their fish is.

"Even if you could kill us, you can't kill the whole town. Surrender to us before whole town gets here to string you all up!"


Then Snark will move just outside and cast Enlarge Person on Einar. Einar should be able to squeeze through the 5' door just fine.

(For the DM's benefit, those here could only disbelieve the Silent Image if they interacted with it, which I don't think anyone has. With Snark casting a spell on Einar, the Silent Image will go away at the end of the round.)

Several good hits are landed but none of the enemies go down yet. The thug in front of Einar really wishes he was somewhere else.

Note for Snark: A spellcraft check to know what spell you were casting makes the illusion a little less frightening.

From the center of the room you hear some more casting of spells but no visible effects.

Suddenly it was noisy but Kristoph was sure he could hear the barbarian - somehow his roar sounded deeper than normal? But with two thugs on him he couldn't allow any distractions. 'Best to get this fight over and done with as quickly as possible' he tells himself.

Despite having thrown sharp things at him, Kristoph was glad his opponent was still alive, he had no desire to kill anyone! He follows up with an elbow to the villains ribs (an unarmed/flurry attacks on Thug4: the first attack misses, but the second hits (18) for 7 damage - non-lethal).

He hits the square he was aiming for (AC 5, rolled a 6.) This should affect the area outlined in blue on the map. He hopes it will interfere with whatever Mudee is doing, and maybe have a nice flash-bang effect on the others.

Also, Snark fails on his Spellcraft check to see if he can tell what spell Mudee is/was casting. (10)

Thunderstone - You can throw this stone as a ranged attack with a range increment of 20 feet. When it strikes a hard surface (or is struck hard), it creates a deafening bang that is treated as a sonic attack. Each creature within a 10-foot-radius spread must make a DC 15 Fortitude save or be deafened for 1 hour. A deafened creature, in addition to the obvious effects, takes a -4 penalty on initiative and has a 20% chance to miscast and lose any spell with a verbal component that it tries to cast.

Since you donft need to hit a specific target, you can simply aim at a particular 5-foot square. Treat the target square as AC 5.

Tae Che, stunned for several seconds at the pure lack of diplomacy that occured, finally gets her bearings.
Spellcraft: 17 to determine what Mudee is casting.

She then moves in (to H11) and casts Daze on Gnome 1. (DC: 13)

In a blind rage Einar just takes another swing at Thug1 probably slicing him in half... he should have known better than to get involved with this...
Einar hits AC20 - damage 21HP

No need to close range on G1 but Einar none the less takes a step closer... if that one makes a bad move he'll take advantage of an AoO...
(not sure if we can push the barrels aside or if an enlarged person can just walk between them - I have Einar positioned on the barrel right next to G1)
Isaac can perhaps benefit from flanking bonus

Faeloi attacks the same thug again, but she gets distracted by the Thunderstone and swings wide. Very wide.

Kristoph lays down some pain.
Isaac swings for the fences
Teddy and GoreThum attempt the large loading door, and find it to be locked tight.
Tae-Che casts a spell and attempts to identify Mudee's magic.
Snark throws a loud rock.
Einar absolutely ruins Thug1 and steps up. (A medium creature can't share a square with a barrel, but I'll let a large creature stand with a barrel in one square.)
Faeloi swings and misses.

Several thugs drop, some knocked out, others very very dead.

The two gnomes clap their hands to their ears and seem to avoid the worst of the thunder stone, the thug catch in the blast not so much.

The gnome seem to have more like halfling luck and shakes off Tae-Che's spell.

Tae-Che knows that Mudee cast invisibility on himself and thinks he cast an illusion spell last round.

You can make out disconnected footsteps and then the fighters hear chanting from behind them. Not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 Mudees appear in the middle of the group as fire erupts from his hands. Kristoph, Faeloi, and Isaac take 9 fire damage (Reflex DC 14 for half).
