(Reflex save:24) Kristoph ducks the majority of the flame but his hair is smoldering slightly after. He sidesteps the thugs blade and kicks him in the ribs (Flurry:19 for 8 damage on Thug3, second attack misses). It was getting tense and Kristoph felt lucky to still be standing, all he could smell was singed hair.

Einar grunts when the little Gnome stings with his sword. He clenches his both hands firmly around the hilt of his sword and takes a swing at Gnome 1.

Snark says to the human figure that towers over him, "Listen Mud-For-Brains, you're not very good at this. So let me give you a little tip - RUN!

"Morris there left to get the Sherriff, and I figure the townsfolk are going to be close behind. He saw you attack us for no reason, and he saw the fish. It looks like you want to add murder to your troubles.

"Now, you can also surrender and at least that way you're less likely to get strung up."


With that Snark swings his staff at the man, hoping to at least get rid of one of the images. He hits AC19, and gets rid of one of the images!

Snark is pretty scared of a physical fight, but he knows staying there also means Mudee will need to risk provoking an attack if he tries to cast another spell.

Isaac unfortunately takes a gout of flames full blast and then is stabbed by the thug. He was really hoping he would be better in this fight as his mind fades. The thug pulls back his blade from Isaac's body and Isaac tumbles on to his back unconscious. Luckily he stabilizes.

Faeloi is able to dodge a little bit of the fire, but she's still singed. In her move to get out of the fire she manages to slam right into the little gnome's blades instead. She's barely conscious, but she attempts to get the gnome back but misses. She then steps away.

Tae-Che and Snark - Mirror Image: If the attack is a hit, roll randomly to see whether the selected target is real or a figment. If it is a figment, the figment is destroyed. If the attack misses by 5 or less, one of your figments is destroyed by the near miss.

Tae-che missed by 5 or less and so destroys a figment, leaving 1 real Mudee and 2 figments.
Snark rolls a hit, I rolled a 1(d3) to hit the real Mudee and not a figment. Snark please roll damage.

Snark does 1 point of damage with his little staff in the previous attack. Then, his AOO hits AC 17 as Mudee is trying to cast whatever spell he's casting. Snark would do 1 more point of damage, possibly messing up his spell (rolled a 3 for images vs Mudee, so probably got rid of an image instead.)

"Careful Einar, don't let those gnomes flank you."

Snark weighs his options. He can see that Mudee has no weapon and is not a melee threat. Snark moves 5' and casts an Acid Dart at Mudee (spell-like ability), missing (hits AC 5). But at least he still threatens Mudee.

Then he sees his friends. "Oh, hey Teddy, Gore'Thum. Good to see you guys, c'mon in - this party's just getting started."

"For the rest of you - our Battle Frog is here, and you are all in a heap of trouble!"


(Although Snark is in front of the door, anyone can pass through a friendly occupied square.)

After the thug steps back Kristoph mirrors him by stepping 5 ft diagonally. As he does he hears the 'thwock' of the hurled dagger burying itself in the wood behind where he'd been, good timing! He forearm/elbows a scorcher to the thugs jaw. He was working up quite a sweat and his hair was still smoking but hey - he was alive!
(Flurry on Thug 3: 13 for 9 damage, 2nd misses).

From this position he can see the fight and winces when he sees Isaac drop! He nearly does a double take when he sees the giant barbarian amd then spots three Mudee's and shouts: "Throw an Alchemist's Fire at ALL of them!"

Tae Che takes her opportunity attack against Mudee. (7 to hit, I believe is a miss). She then tries to bear down and hit him again. (4 to hit, definitely missing) The longspear stabs at the air hitting absolutely nothing solid.

Spellcraft to determine what Mudee is casting: Tae Che is too focused on attempting to wound Mudee, she doesn't hear the incantation correctly.

"... don't let them flank me?!? ... don't let them KILL me!! ... ooo where's a cleric when you need one... ", Einar thinks. Still Snark's right... he's getting himself in a tight spot here and those Gnomes seem to be quite nimble. He had hoped for a free swing if they tried to get near him. Guess not...

Being large is interesting but being large with weak armor makes you a target practice dummy...
He got Gn1 pretty hard last swing so with some luck someone else will knock him down.

So Einar concentrates on Gn2... his falchion sings as he brings the blade down on the gnome holding it with both hands...
Einar hits AC26 - Crit check hits AC21 succes - damage 32 HP

"LAY DOWN YOUR WEAPONS !!!" Einar growls... the blood of the Gnome he just sliced in two drips from his face. He just hopes to demoralize them so they surrender (Intimidate 16)
There are casualties on both sides already so there's need to end this asap.

The battle frog indeed enters but doesn't do so with any sort of impressive assault (11 to hit on guard). He moves past Gnome 1 and Mundee, possibly drawing attacks of opportunity, but that lets Teddy get past safely to heal Isaac for 8 hp.

Kristoph lands a scorcher right on the thug's glass jaw
Isaac wishes he was sturdier
Teddy and Gore’Thum move in to heal Isaac.
Tae-Che unleashes a flurry of blows into the air
Snark manages to dispel another image.
Einar removes a gnome from the battlefield and roars for surrender
Faeloi joins Tae-Che in stabbing the air.

Thug 3 hits the ground from Kristoph's blow. Gnome 2 hits the ground in 2 pieces.

Isaac comes to with Teddy standing over him.

While Thug 2 can't hear Einar, his actions convey more than enough meaning. He throws down his weapon and drops to his knees, hands on his head.

Mudee screams in rage as a disc of force appears protecting him, "You were supposed to kill them so we could escape to the boat. YOU"VE RUINED EVERYTHING!!" He then draws a dagger and stabs at Snark.

Gnome 1 sees the gig is up and tumbles around behind Snark, hoping to kill the gnome blocking the exit. His tumble is not as successful and he still draw an AoO from Einar. His attack on Snark then misses, even with the flank he set up.

The large barbarian gives Tae-Che a gentle nudge and takes a 5ft step towards the exit and slashes into the abdomen of the Gnome...

"Between Einar the Giant, our Battle Frog, and the world's cutest medic things are looking pretty bad for your side there Mudee. Even our paladin has risen from the dead. What say you surrender and tell us what's going on? What's with all the barrels? I mean it's just one little fish. What was your plan?"

Snark holds his ground to block the door, and readies an action to whack this guy if he starts spell casting again. (Would Only hit AC 4, damage 1.)

Kristoph moves next to the prisoner and would intimidate Mudee but turns to see him down and dead.
Isaac stands and prepares for a fight.
Teddy and Gore’Thum heal Faeloi and then hits Mudee.
Tae-Che hits Mudee.
Snark prepares a soon to be unnecessary whack.
Einar hits the gnome, and then removes Mudee's last image.
Faeloi hits Mudee and the human falls to the ground.

The gnome is indeed dead, so Snark can doesn't even get missed by him last round. Mudee is dead. 1 Thug has surrendered and 2 more lie on the ground with nasty Kristoph fist shaped bruises forming on their faces, unconscious. Everything seems eerily silent after the violence of the encounter.

Patting the surrendered thug on his shoulder Kristoph says "Good choice". Then looks in the barrel (the one the party saw something dropped in on arrival) and continues:
"So, before the giant, frenzied barbarian over there looses his cool with you, why don't you tell us why Mudee stole the fish, which boat he was just on about and what the rest of the plan was? Trust me you don't want him asking you, because in his state he might just hit first and ask later"!

"Hey, whoa, ho - easy there Gigantor. I think don't think that guy can hear us 'cause of that exploding rock I threw. Maybe after we give him a few minutes his hearing will come back.

"Think I'll take a look around to see what magic Mudee and his merry band of miscreants have in this place. Also, we should check the barrels to see if that little fish is here."


Snark will cast Detect Magic and look around to see what magic is here, including on these bad guys.

As he does so, he also looks to see what we have here in general (Perception 24!)

Gore'Thum and Teddy see what Isaac is doing and help. Since Teddy is tiny and Gore'Thum has no hands this involves the frog picking up the beastfolk with his mouth so Teddy can struggle to get the lid off. It's slow going.

Kristoph checks the barrel and thoroughly intimidates the thug (I'll let the roll count, he's shaking in his boots, even though he can't hear you)
Isaac opens a barrel.
Teddy and Gore’Thum open more barrels.
Tae-Che ?
Snark explains that the only conscious thug is deafened and checks out the warehouse.
Einar raises his blade and growls, even without sound the statement is clear.
Faeloi starts checking barrels.

The thug still can't hear but seems very willing to do literally anything to keep the slayer away from him. He starts blubbering, but in his current state nothing legible is coming out of his mouth.

Snark manages to find a bag of goods hidden under a floor board. He also finds 3 magical auras on each of the gnomes, 7 magical auras on Mudee, for a total of 13.

But probably the most surprising thing of all is the contents of the barrels. Each one is full of fresh water. And swimming inside of each and every one of the 10 barrels is a large goldfish. About as identical as you can make out.

He asks Snark "Hey Snark how long do those Thunderstones last? We need to have a talk with him." he gestures over at the thug.

"OK, did not expect multiple fish". Kristoph scratches his head at that mystery and wonders if they are magical/illusions, but having no experience with such matters he expects that the more inclined will check.
"Perhaps we should wait till Morris gets back with the sheriff"? He gestures to the two unconscious thugs: "Anyone wanna confess to being good at tying people up"? He removes their weapons and then ponders for a second:
"I'm gonna stand by the door, the last thing we want is a surprise interruption from anyone else who comes looking for Mudee"!
On that note Kristoph heads over to the door, he stays just inside and keeps watch.

Obviously the skirmish is over... Einar calms down and cancels the enlarge person. Suddenly he feels small and fatigued.

"So... what's going on here?" he asks the others that are already investigating the warehouse.

"Beats me how long that deafness lasts, but I wouldn't think more'n a few minutes."

Snark looks for any special markings or writing on the barrels (Perception +4). The little gnome pulls up on one of the barrel's edge as he stands on his toes to peer in. "Huh. They got a bunch a fish, eh? Maybe we should just put em all back in that pond. I mean one of em's gotta be their lucky fish. And that way if one dies or gets stolen they can still pretend they have the lucky one.

"A lotta fuss over a stupid fish."


Snark turns his attention back to the loot. He looks at the scrolls to see what they are. He sniffs the potions to see if he can tell anything. He similarly checks the bracers and the cloak (Detect Magic, Spellcraft +7).

He offers them to Tae Che and Teddy to take a look as well.

Arms crossed and leaning on the door frame Kristoph scrutinizes the docks and thinks aloud: "I suppose Mudee could've stolen the fish intending to sell copies back to law-abiding Heranmarians or whatever they're called, particularly the ones with enough money to buy into all this superstition! Maybe he's been deliberately fishing or growing copies? Each person believing they'd bought the original town's lucky mascot!"

The power of belief, wasn't that what churches sold? No Siree you wouldn't find Kristoph falling for any religious mumbo-jumbo! It would take something special to set him on a path like that! He would spit but this wasn't the time. The sour taste Mudee left in his mouth made him look down at the body by his feet. He wasn't comfortable with the mans death. But by the gods death seemed to follow him, and yet he had done his very best to never kill anyone...
Kristoph hated the gods. Oh he believed in them - he just hated them.

Teddy confesses to being terrible at tying people up. It is a tearful, heartfelt confession as apparently Gore'Thum has tried to teach him a dozen times and it's one of the few skills he's failed his lessons in. Gore'Thum, having no hands, is even worse at it, which may be why he failed as a teacher in this instance.

Cooling down Einar stands next to Snark. That Gnome wizard has some nifty spell up his sleeve...

"Interesting to experience combat while enlarged... thank you. You don't happen to have anything again the headache I feel now?! Got some daggers piercings too that may need taking care of."
