And so, the Silver Shields find themselves standing on a flat topped pyramid. Beside them is a stone platform, and on the other side of it is a gaping hole descending into the darkness.
The party is here to assist the elves, Evandale and Jella, in recreating the Entwining ceremony last performed on the human paladin, Florin Jandeth.
A ceremony all assume requires a silver bracelet Florin had during his entwining.
A silver bracelet most of the party assumes Jella brought with her, and are less than pleased to find out she didn't. Several comment sarcastically on the error.
Turning red, Jella retorts. "I never said I brought it. Just that I saw an image of it in my dream." The wowan raises her hands to her face. "I assumed it would be here."
Evandale tries to come to the woman's defense. "There's no reason to think it wouldn't be," he comments. "Florin had it during the Entwining. His body was incorporated into the Wood, but his belongings stayed behind. His friends took most back with them, but left the bracelet there on the altar. The Darkwood Druids were all killed in the last fight, the plants don't enter the ruins, and nothing enters the Crying Wood. Anything left here should have remained unmolested for centuries."
Meanwhile, Stohp does some investigating of the hole and the pyramid. She drops a lit torch into the hole. As it falls, all can see the hole is not quite vertical, but is pretty close.
The torch drops about 120', and then hits ground. The hole passes completely through the 50' tall pyramid, and another 70' into the ground itself. It lies there, sputtering. From the reflection off of the flames, Stohp picks up that there may be some kind of opening to one side. Whether that is a cavern or tunnel or just a slightly wider area of floor, she can't tell.
Evandale shrugs at the question of rooms within the pyramid. "Not that I've ever seen," he answers.
Other than this hole, there are no obvious ways into the pyramid.

Brittanica says to Jella, "It's fine. I keep causing you trouble that I don't mean to. I apologize again. I need to be more patient."
Brittanica then says, "I'm going to try a divination and I am going to ask the question, "How can we find the silver bracelet of Florin Jandeth but before I do that I'm going to sacrifice some of my life force to make the spell more powerful than normal so it has a better chance at working."
"If this doesn't work we can always come back tomorrow and I can cast Locate Object, the problem is I can't find Florin's Silver bracelet because I've never seen it so I could just locate silver bracelets in general but how many silver bracelets could there be in this temple?"
Brittanica casts Surrender Blood with her CL of 10 she loses 10 hp and gets a +2 boost to the next spell she casts.
She then casts Divination asking the question, "How can we find the silver bracelet of Florin Jandeth that was last seen at the altar in this pyramid."
(OOC: The spell is rolled in secret it has a success rate of 70 + CL (max 20) so with the boost from the surrender blood spell the CL is 12 so the success chance is 82%)

Stock pulls a thin rope of fine black thread from the side of his backpack and lowers it into the hole.
"Now this won't be quite long enough but...Hey Rope! Form some knots!..." As he says this, the rope begins to move of its own accord, forming simple knots every foot or two of its length. When it is complete, he is holding 50' of knotted rope. "[/b]...but at least it will be easier to climb down. Now does anybody else have a rope that I can fasten this to?"[/b]

Zander nods appreciatively at Brit's suggestion of magical assistance and apology. He's a little leery about the whole blood sacrifice but Blood Witches were different and he shrugs it off. He shoots Jellah a smile, "Don't worry, we'll find that bracelet." and then reaches into his pack and reveals another 50ft length of rope. "Hey rope, form some knots." When it doesn't do anything he mocks surprise, "Mine must be broken. But this should get close to the bottom. With one more we can lower Delia in to look around. Even if the bracelet isn't down there I'd rather know it's clear so we don't end up with another visitor to Re-Entwining? ."

Delia wonders if a racoon may have scurried off with it. Bartomus surmises birds.
Jella rolls her eyes.
Stock points out the whole evil forest problem, and she nods. "There are no racoons, or any birds. Or any mice, snakes, deer, monkeys, lions, tigers, or bears. The Crying Wood kills every living thing entering it. Except the beetles. And us."
Brittanica decides it might be time for some divine assistance. She set about with her preparations, and begins a low chant.
Meanwhile Ohen suggests looking down the hole while Brittanica is busy.
Stock and Zanderallen attach some ropes together, though Stock's is admittedly much cooler.

Brittanica's spell will take ten minutes casting time.
It sounds like perhaps some of the Shields will go exploring before she's finished? Or does everyone wait?

If it is decided that she go into the now hole, she will cast Darkvision on herself.

"Um, you all want to maybe use this?" He asked as he dropped the skein of the spider silk rope that they had gotten from the drow adventure on the ground near his fellow shields. "Got it from the drow and their spiders. Haven't had to use it before."

Zanderallen watches with a fake glare as Delia's and Stock's ropes tied and bundle themselves down the hole. He finds a good position to brace to haul the rope if needed and awaits the climbers. It was almost like a peaceful hike, the droning of the divination incantations almost filling in for the complete lack of animal sounds in the woods.

The Shields decide to send Delia down on a scouting mission, while Brittanica completes her spell.
Turns out, there is all kinds of rope available, and in short order 150' of knotted rope slides into the hole. The bottom end of the rope lies at the bottom, next to Stohp's sputtering torch.
Stock and Zanderallen man the rope, ready to haul the ranger up at a moments notice.
Stohp and Bartomus elect to wait up top as well.
Ohen does too, although he plans to come down if the passage opens up.
Hawky would also prefer to stay out the dark hole. Delia is free to try and convince her otherwise.
Accordingly, Delia casts Darkvision on herself, and begins her descent. With a knotted rope and the cavern wall, the agile ranger has no issues climbing down. In fact, she could speed her ascent, if she wants, and still not require a Climb check. Standard descent speed would be 15'/round, or she can speed descend at 30'/round.
Again, the hole is 120' deep.
Brittanica continues to cast her spell. She has eight minutes to go.

Delia will go without Hawky; he perches on one of Bart's horns patiently. She also attaches Bart's 100' of rope as well, giving her 250' just in case there's something lurking down there that she has to be pulled away from. She nods to Zander and Stock, "Keep it mostly taut when I'm down there." She begins to climb/repel down the rope. Assuming nothing eats her on the way down, she will carefully investigate with the rope tied around her waist. Delia will move methodically and cautiously, looking for any kinds of scrape marks or clues.

Bartomus watched as Delia gets the rope secured about her and then begins the descent. He saw a flash of feathers and realized that he suddenly had a new friend sitting on his right horn.
"Nice to meet you Hawkey," Bartous shifted his eyes towards the talons and feathers that he could see and then continued watching Delia descent until he couldn't see her anymore. However, as he started to shift back up, he had the strong sense that the hawk was still wanting to look down into the hole. "Well, if you can see her, then by all means I can just hold myself here."
He also listened to Stock's questioning of the ones that would know what they should be doing, in theory.

Evandale starts working his way into an answer, when Jella cuts him off by simply saying "Yes". The pair exchange a look, but neither says anything further.
Delia works her way down the hole, and soon disappears from everyone's view.

5' from the bottom she sees the opening hinted at by the torch is a cavern. It appears to be roughly oval, 60' long and 30' wide. There are five passageways in the cavern - two to the right, two to the left, and one on the far side.
There is also a bunch of undead waiting to eat her.
A dozen ghouls crouch in the cavern, about 30' away. Drool falls from their gaping jaws as they eye Delia, but do not attack.
Just behind them stands another ghoul. This one is different, with an impressively regal bearing, and wearing intricately wrought golden armor. And, he just cast a spell, attempting to do something with Delia's mind. She's pretty sure it would have been really, really, bad if he succeeded.}

Previously bracing herself to hit the bottom of the cavern, Delia opts to reverse directions. She raises an unamused, yet somehow heroic, eyebrow at the creature casting at her as she pushes his clammy touch out of her head and begins climbing the rope as fast as she can. (Climb: 22)

"She said undead. You heard that too right, birdy?" Bartomus asked his new friend. He looked over at the others. Raising his voice, he repeated what Delia said. Then he asked, "anyone got a good idea of how we kill things that are already dead?"

Delia raises an unamused, yet somehow heroic, eyebrow at the creature casting at her as she pushes his clammy touch out of her head and begins climbing the rope as fast as she can.
At her call, Stock and Zanderallen heave on the rope, bringing the ranger up even faster.
Delia has a momentary glimpse of the ghouls rushing forward, but loses sight of them as she is whisked up the hole.
The ranger does not see anything following her up, and in short order, both she and the ropes are back at the top of the pyramid.
Once Delia is back up out of the hole, Hawky switches perches.
The Shields brace for a possible pursuit, but after a few minutes, it seems none is forthcoming.
The party does notice the torch is no longer visible at the bottom of the hole.
Stock asks Evandale and Jella about expecting undead, and both shake their heads. "Where could they have come from?" Jella wonders aloud.
With nothing erupting out of the hole, the group maintains a vigil, but allows Brittanica to continue her spell.
The bloodwitch finally receives her reply to her question, which was "How can we find the silver bracelet of Florin Jandeth that was last seen at the altar in this pyramid?"
The reply: "Descend, and traverse to the end."
Brittanica is sure the spell was successful.

"So, one thought, I could head down there as a stone golem, or one of those spiders we saw with the drow, or wind elemental. If one of those could carry one of you all, that might be helpful. Maybe?"
Bartomus took a good look around and then at the stone that the towering structure was made out of to get a sense of what he could use if the stone was the preferred option.

As she crests the top of the hole, Delia calmly nods to Zander and Stock, "Thanks guys." Hawky, who was fidgetting on Bart's horn, immediately moves to Delia's shoulder and makes concerned chirping sounds. She absently pets his head as she sits on the edge of the hole, looking down carefully. "Once we're ready to deal with them can anyone drop a light rock down there or something? They put out the torch, but it's only 120 feet or so. If we can see them we can poke them will spells and arrows and rocks."

Brittanica says, "I can cast Hide from Undead 5 times today. It would last 100 minutes and effect 10 people per casting. If these undead are non intelligent then as long as they had no reason to think we were there they wouldn't see us. If they are intelligent then they'd have to resist the spell's effect to not see us."
She continues, "I can cast Command Undead 5 times lasting 10 days per casting. If these undead are nonintelligent then there is no chance they could resist my spell and we could sow chaos in their ranks by making 5 of them attack their brethren. If they are intelligent there is a chance they could resist the spell."
"Lastly, I can cast disrupting weapon 2 times today. Each casting would last a minute but any undead struck by the melee weapon that failed to resist the spell and were created below a certain amount of unlife would be destroyed.
"I can surrender more blood to boost the effect of the disrupting weapon, making it last a little longer and effect a little stronger undead but each casting of surrender blood takes 6 seconds and the disrupting weapons don't last that long. Also if I cast surrender blood I lose a usage of hide from undead."

So if a necromancer is controlling them and he or her spots us and commands the undead to strike in our vicinity they can. Also if we touch, attack or try to channel energy and hurt or control them it will end the spell for all of us, so if we are going to attack probably best to let everyone know when"
Brittanica takes a standard action to use her threefold aspect to appear as an old crone changing her ability scores in the following way before casting the spell (+4 bonus to Wisdom and Intelligence, but take a –2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity.)
Brittanica gathers the party round and casts hide from undead on the group as the Crone. (OOC: I believe because I casted the spell at a higher intelligence any undead that encounter the spell will have to make the save vs the higher value; even though her current intelligence is 4 lower because she is the maiden not the crone.)
She then reverts back to her maiden form before heading down the hole as a standard action.
Since her overland flight is long lasting she will continue to fly down with the rest of the party using the rope they lower as a guide for her descent.
She is prepared to nope back up out of there if something goes awry.

Ohen casts Mirror Image and Spell Resistance on himself.
"If our up close and personal individuals are so inclined, I can teleport most of us down there so we don't have to bother climbing down into the waiting arms ghouls, albeit hopefully blind ones. This way we'll be all together and ready to strike as one."
If everyone agrees, Ohen will cast dancing lights 120' down to find the landing spot, then Haste, then Dimension Door.
If and when he teleports people, he will hold on to Zanderallen and Stock and reach out to the rest of the group. "There's room for two more. Uh... Stohp and Bartomus you count as two."

Bartomus will change into a giant hunting spider using Wild Shape druid skill with a +16 to climb at 30' per turn - so four turns. I can take 10 each turn if that is quicker, or make the four rolls with the +16

Brittanica does quite the trick, changing from a young maiden to an old crone, casting Hide from Undead, and then changing back to a young maiden.
She then flies into the hole.
Delia and Hawky stay at the top, ready to cover the rest of the group.
Ohen casts some spells on himself. Then he casts dancing lights down the hole.
Stock readies his flail, and nods to Ohen to accept the quick transport. Zanderallen also prepares to go with Ohen.
Stohp declines Ohen's spell.
Bartomus also elects to stay up top, picturing an image of himself as the hairy spider he plans to become.
A slight problem manifests itself after Ohen casts Dancing Lights down the hole.
When the lights reach the bottom, everyone can see there is no longer any opening to a cavern. The hole is just, well, a hole. Perception DC 20 - Highlight to display spoiler: {You know, it seems like the bottom of the hole isn't quite as far down as it was when Delia climbed down. And the bottom is smooth rock, rather than the rough surface from before.}

The Shields start investigating.
Brittanica sees no illusions, the stone floor is a stone floor.
Stohp throws down the rope, and everyone can see it hit the new floor and spool up. Checking the amount of remaining rope, the taur figures this new floor is 110' down, whereas the original bottom was 120'.
Using his Arcane Sight, Ohen cannot make out a magical aura. It has been about 9 minutes since Delia was pulled back out of the hole. The sorcerer deduces there is no spell or magic currently in effect, and if magic had been used to create the stone floor, it would have to be the result of a Moderate or Faint level spell for the aura to have faded already.
Stock suggests, perhaps seriously, cannonballing the floor.
The others discuss options, as well as what they could be facing.

Stohp requests a light spell be cast on some things so the party will have hands free while climbing down. Things that can be hung on a belt or stuck in a pocket, like a money pouch, so they can tuck them in a pocket to hide the light if needed.

Brittancia wonders how the stone floor could've gotten there. She figures teleportation is a strong enough magic that some kind of aura would still be detectable. As for a mechanical way to move a floor, sure there are ways. Some kind of mechanism would be needed, which would probably be visible closer to the source.
Ohen figures there is no need to surprise a rock, and holds his spells for future use.
Stock and Zanderallen climb down.
Delia stays up top with Hawky.
Stohp asks about light.
Bartomus waits for whoever is going to go, then transforms into a large spider and follows down.
The climb is fairly easy with the ropes, and soon enough everyone who is going down is down.
Whoever is at the top can make out the group below by the light of Ohen's Dancing Lights spell.

The Ohens will also climb down and take a look at the stone, the illusions overlapping and looking like a creepy 12 armed Ohen-spider creeping down the rope next to an actual giant spider.
Dancing lights shines like torches (30' radius light I think?), and have to be within a 10' radius. Ohen have them follow us down to light up the ropes, them stop them 20' away from the wall, and spread the four lights out along a 20' line, so we should have a good 70' of the shaft lit up.

Bartomus climbed down and found that the ability of a spider to utilize its eight legs was something that provided him a great deal of comfort in descending down the hole. He also enjoyed the unusual perspective provided by all of the creature's eyes and its ability to feel movements and vibrations. While it didn't make him a fan of spiders, it did soften his disdain for the creatures.
He kept himself in the opening of the hole and tilted his head back and forth trying to see if the vision and perspective he had provided him any insight that he could add to the dwarf's investigation of the stone wall. He waited to drop down or crawl down to the floor when there was ample room for him to do so.
Perception raw roll of 17 - spider has a +4; if Bart's traits transfer over into that form that would be 32. Maintaining the spider form and holding in the opening of the descending tunnel for this round.

Brittanica and Bartomus follow, with the witch flying down to the floor, while spiderbart remains on the wall just above the rest of the party.
Delia and Hawky stand ready at the top of the hole.
Investigation of the stone floor and surrounding walls reveal no doors, seams, or anything else indicating the floor slid out through mechanical means.
Stock goes with a dwarven solution. "Hold on to something. I'm going to try to break through"
With a huge backswing, Stock brings his waraxe whistling upward and then crashing down onto the floor. The adamantine weapon meets the stone with heavy "CRACK" and a long gash appears on the floor.
Stock determines this floor can't be more than a couple inches thick. Another blow like the last will likely open a 5' hole in the stone.

Zanderallen casts Daylight on his shield.
Stock rages and slams his waraxe repeatedly against the stone floor. Chunks fly. Within seconds, the dwarf has opened nearly a quarter of the available floor space. His opening is 10' long and 5' wide - enough for two medium sized people, or one squeezing large person.
By the light of the various spells, the party can see the 'original' floor 10' below.
Brittanica wonders aloud if Stock's actions constitute an attack, and questions if there is another way.
By that time, its too late. The hole is already opened.
Ohen casts Haste on everyone.
Delia maintains her watch from above.
Looking through the hole, it does not appear that anything is milling about beneath the party. It looks just as empty as when Delia descended.

Seeing the hole that had been created and listened to his colleagues from his vantage point. He waited till the others had worked their way through the hole and then eased himself down out of the tunnel and worked his eight-legged self across the new floor. He shifted his head about at its various angles to see the space below. Then he climbed down into the opening when it was clear there would be enough room for him as either a spider or a taur.

Four of the party are currently on the lower level. Stohp is working her way down the hole, waiting for Ohen to clear. Bart clings to the wall above Stohp. Delia is halfway down the rope. (60' down, 60' to go. She will reach the floor in 2 rounds, assuming no taurs are in the way).

By the light of Zanderallen's shield, the quartet on the ground see they are standing before the entrance to a large chamber. At the far end, in the dimming light, stands a regal looking figure. The humanoid, in silken robes, is looking at the group with its hands raised in preparation.

Hearing the familiar clanking of Zanderallen charging off to butt-kick for goodness, Delia will sigh, look at the 50 ft drop (since the floor got raised by 10 ft I think?), then mutter, "The things I do for my friends..." She pushes off from the wall slightly and lets go of the rope. She hits the ground hard, but tucks into a well executed roll that absorbs much of the impact. (Acrobatics 22 with an intentional jump for 6 non-lethal and 10 lethal))
If she has a move action left this round, Delia stands, dusting herself off and cursing lightly as she rubs her bruised side.

Zanderallen and Stock rushe across the room in a terrifyingly short amount of time. The dwarf lowers his shoulder and knocks the creature down, continuing to the flanking side of it. It swings at him as he goes through, catching him with a diseased claw.
Stock takes 2 hp damage plus needs 2 Fort Saves vs DC23. Failing first save results in paralysis for d4+1 rounds.
The paladin slams the creature with his hammer. It is undead, but isn't destroyed.
Brittanica begins a summoning spell.
Ohen moves into the chamber to the side, preparing to counterspell whatever the enemy creature tries.
Stohp gets down, slipping by Brittanica so that SpiderBart has some room.
Bart slips down as well, though he finds himself squeezed between Stohp, Brittanica, and the walls.
Delia takes the quick way, dropping 50' to the "new" floor. She finds she is next to the hole Stock opened, but the space below is currently occupied by SpiderBart.

As Zanderallen and Stock cross the chamber, a mess of undead erupt out of side chambers. Some pursue the pair, while others move to engage Ohen and Stohp.
The regal looking ghoul doesn't bother getting up. Instead, it goes down. It's clawed hands cut through the stone like butter, and it tunnels straight down, and then angles northward. (Withdraw Action - no AoO)
Zanderallen and Stock are left looking at a tunnel descending 10', and then angling out of sight.
Not that they are alone.
Zanderallen is attacked by the three ghasts behind him. Each arrives and swings a claw, but don't get through the paladin's armor.
Stock finds himself in the middle of four nasty looking undead dogs. The hounds bite ferociously at him, but also cannot get through. The dwarf does notice they are going for his legs.
Meanwhile, a line of ghasts run up to Ohen and Stohp.
Behind them, four more ghouls stand with composite shortbows in their hands. Two shoot at Ohen, while two more shoot at Stohp.
Ohen has one of his mirrors disappear.
One arrow misses Stohp, but the other hits hard, and the taur feels ice at the wound. Stohp takes 21 hp + 3 more cold hp

Bartomus crawled down in his spider form and came right up against his fellow Taur. He tried apologizing but the words a spider makes for such things just involved a lot of feet moving and snapping of the pincers that were part of his mouth. Then light errupts from where he had seen Zander rush towards and it was a light that was brilliant in its glow and mixed with it seemed to be something else.

Something hit Stohp and sounded a bit harder than he was expecting and then he went through the process of casting the spell to harden himself like he was adamite and for a brief moment thought that it was ironic as they had fought a spider-like thing made out of that. He morphed back into his taur self as soon as he was able to do so.
Cast Stoneskin using Natural Spell skill creating up to 120 points with 10 pts DR each time. Turn back into Taur-Bart when he can, not sure how Haste helps that or not?

Hearing the chaos echoing up from the hole, Delia decides she needs to get down there even with Bart in the way. Zanderallen very briefly wonders how the regal looking ghoul just dug through rock, but quickly turns to more pressing matters. Domi's power flashes out from the paladin. Three ghasts and four hounds evaporate. The rest are smoking, but still moving.
SpiderBart casts Stoneskin on itself. (Cannot perform two standard actions in single round)
Brittanica's summoned Bralani appears, and kills a ghast. Brittanica herself casts a healing spell on Stohp.
Stohp finds herself on the front line facing creatures with no weapons to disarm. The taur goes totally defensive.
Stock considers pursuing the tunneling creature, but settles for killing the only hound he can reach that Zanderallen hasn't already disintegrated.
Ohen casts a spell. The four ghasts surrounding him all take the opportunity to claw at him, but none of the blows hit home, and the sorcerer completes his spell. All the ghasts pretty much explode. The ones with the bows are all hit, two severely, but remain in the fight. Ohen casts a quickened invisibility on himself.
Delia climbs down, squeezing past both Bart and Brittanica to an open spot. She fires off an arrow at one of the archers, wounding it further.

Delia squeezes past Bart and Brittanica to get off a shot. The regular arrow hurtles across the chamber and bullseyes ghast #2. It also drops.
Having been deprived of targets, Stock calms down, drinks a potion, and disappears.
Zanderallen rounds on the remaining ghasts, but only manages to kill one.

Stohp sheathes her weapon and looks around, reflecting on her infrequent lethal combats.
Stock moves to the back of the smaller chamber. He sees the northern tunnel out of it cuts left after about 15'. He doesn't see or hear anything moving back there.
However, now that they're not worried about dying, both he and Zanderallen spot a pile of silver pieces, gemstones, and various knickknacks piled up at AA13.
Bartomus asks where the undead came from, while moving to meet Zander.
Zanderallen finds the summoned Bralani has already beat him to the ghast. He ponders Bart's question.
Delia walks over to retrieve her arrow Ohen also heads over to inspect the hole.

Delia and Ohen find the ground where they are standing is suddenly covered in grease. Delia and Ohen Reflex Save DC17 or fall prone.
An incantation called from their north reveals the presence of regal looking ghast. As it finishes its spell, the floor of the cavern comes alive, reaching up to grasp at all those in the area of effect. Delia is able to avoid the grasping earth, but the others are grabbed.
Ohen, Bart, Zanderallen, Bralani are in the grappled condition, and can feel themselves being pulled down further. Breaking grapple requires Escape Artist DC 20 or combat maneuver vs CMD 20

While this is going on, another ghast walks straight out of the northern wall, leaving no trace of a tunnel behind it. This one immediately casts a spell, catching both Stohp and the flying Brittanica with a pillar of fire.

A pair of the bow weilding ghouls slip out of the north tunnel, but do not enter the area of the grasping floor.

Stock looks back, sees that Z has his hands full, raises an eyebrow at the pile of loot, and continues northward toward the sound of the incantation.

Delia shifts her stance as the ground underneath her feet slicks, easily keeping her footing. She ignores the ground doing weird things as it ignores her. Her eyes flick between the 4 threats that have emerged and rest on the far away ghoul.

Suddenly, the Ohens dissappear teleporting out of the grapple. The Bralani escapes the grasping floor by turning into a body made of wind and mist, and flying upwards.
Brittanica casts a protective spell on herself, and flies away from Stohp.
Bartomus frees himself from the floor, but remains where he is. He is unable to cast his spell this round OOC - Escaping a grapple is a standard action.
Stohp is not being grappled, as she is not in the effect of the grabbing earth spell. She does avoid the brunt of the earth ghoul's spell. The taur charges over, and attempts to grab it, but it slips away.
An invisible Stock follows the sound of the incantation. The tunnel turns left, and then right, and then left again. The dwarf finds himself in another chamber, standing between the archer ghouls and the regal looking ghouls.
Delia steps away from the grasping earth, and fires a volley at Regal Ghoul. Only one arrow hits, and it doesn't do nearly as much damage as the archer expected.
Zanderallen pulls free of the grasping earth, and rushes over to threaten the nearest bow wielding archer.
Ohen falls on the grease and is grabbed by the earth. But with a shouted incantation, he dimension doors himself into the chamber, stands up, and adds a fireball to put a bow on his performance. The sorcerer manages to place the fireball to miss both himself and Zanderallen. The invisible Stock is not quite so fortunate.
Stock takes 39 fire damage, reflex DC 21 for 20hp.
All three ghouls take the full blast. Regal Ghoul is hurt, but still coming. S3 fries. S4 is very nearly finished.

The Regal Ghoul whirls on Ohen, and casts a spell at Ohen. The sorcerer's resistance holds, and nothing happens.
With a quick flick, there are now five Regal Ghouls, and they turn and stride through the western tunnel, rounds a corner, and disappears from sight.
The earth gliding ghoul steps into Stohp, and attacks with teeth and claws. One claw hits. Stohp takes 10 hp damage (3 cold) + make two Fort Saves DC 15. Failing first one results in paralysis for d4+1 rounds.
S4 shoots a volley at Zanderallen. Both arrows miss.
The other two ghoul archers exit out of the southern tunnel, and shoot at Brittanica. Both miss.
The earth continues grabbing at those within its area of effect (the brown shaded squares) Bartomus and Zanderallen are grappled. Beat CMD 20 to escape.

Delia frowns as the fancypants ghoul moves out of her sight. She turns to the earth-affinity ghoul trying to eat her friend, nocks two arrows and fires. She snaps her second shot over to the ghoul with a bow blocking Zanderallen. Calling, "Go smite the big, bad undead like we all know you want to." as her arrow zips by his head, hopefully downing the slightly crispy ghoul before turning back to the earth-ghoul for her last two shots.

Delia sends arrows whistling around the cavern. Two slam hard into earth-affinity ghoul, who hisses in pain. One drops S4.
The bralani moves towards S1 and slams into it.
Brittanica casts a spell, tripping S2.
Stohp fights off the effects of the ghoul's poison. She tries to grapple again, but fails. OOC - Per Improved Grapple feat - Once you have grappled a creature, maintaining the grapple is a move action. Attempting a grapple is still a standard action, thus only the first roll counts, which missed.
Invisible Stock turns to avoid the brunt of the fireball, and gives Ohen a scowl, which the sorcerer sees just great thanks to his ability to see invisible creatures. The dwarf continues stalking, pulling a potion on the way.
Zander trips, stumbles, and yanks his way out of the grabbing earth once again. The paladin moves to assist Stohp.
Embarrassed at having friendly fired Stock, Ohen tries to make amends with a spell.

Mirror imaged sloths scurry away, bark out a spell, and disappear.
The earth bending ghoul has no intention of taking on Stohp, Delia, and Zanderallen. With a step, it melds back into the stone wall, and is gone.
S2 climbs to its feet (drawing AoO from Bralani) and strikes out at it. Bralani takes 8 hp damage, plus make Fort Save DC 14 or paralyzed d4+1 rounds.
S1 steps back and fires two arrows at Brittanica. They both miss.
The grasping area clings to Delia and the grappled Bartomus Delia remains elusive, but Bartomus is pulled down. Bartomus is prone.

Stohp and Zanderallen set themselves to take out earth-glider, but the creature doesn't reappear.
Likewise, Stock and Ohen wait on Formerly Regal Looking But Now a Sloth. That creature doesn't reappear either. Ohen is pretty sure it cast a Dimension Door.
Delia and Bart eventually extract themselves from the grasping floor.
Brittanica and the bralani finish off the last two ghasts.
The Shields wait, and wait some more. The grease and grasping floor spells expire after another minute.
The team waits a few minutes longer, but the last two ghouls seem to have left for good.

Bartomus picked himself off of the floor and worked to break the entanglement of the area affected by the spell. He staggered out of the floor tentacles and found some solid, less needy ground to stand upon and catch his breath.
"Ok, so we have gotten ourselves inside the pyramid. I take it we keep following after the nasty that was in charge?"
Bartomus then took some time to look about and try to get a sense of what the space they were in was used for.

Stock hurries back to where he and Zanderallen found the pile of loot, thinking perhaps the ghoul popped back there.
But it doesn't.
The rest of the Shields resign themselves to a long search of the pyramid, but again, that doesn't seem to be the case.
A fairly quick check finds five chambers off of the central one, two north, two south, and one further east. All five are connected by a tunnel running around the outer perimeter.
No one finds any more doors or passageways. This seems to be it.
Stock would know they are not in the pyramid, but underneath.
Other than the pile of coins and gems in the far room, there appears to be nothing of interest.

To answer Delia's question, Brittanica says, "I believe Druids and Morphlings have options available to them that allow them to cast spells verbally while in other forms. Alternatively the ability to cast silent spells with eschew materials can be combined to cast spells while in other forms. I myself as a transmuter have learned how to cast silent spells, stilled spells and to eschew material components in order to have the option to prepare for a battle where I feel changing my form beyond appearing older or younger is necessary. I just haven't done preparations in this manner as you need to use higher level slots to prepare silent and or stilled spells and I believe I need to gain more experience so that I have more spell slots available in case I don't need to transform I can still provide value and not have to use silent or still spells up."

Stohp doubts that this is really everything down here, especially because divination indicated they would find the bracelet. She searches the entire area thoroughly to ensure it isn't in any of the rooms and to check for secret passages (34 perception, 37 if allowed to take 20)

Delia's eyes glaze over at Britannica's first mention of "eschew materials, but nods in gratitude at the explanation, "Doesn't seem quite right, but-" she shrugs. "Speaking of magic... anyone happen to have some spell to magically track an object? And... if it turned into a sloth would it still pick it up?"
At Stock's comment, Delia heads to the hole, shouting, "Jella? You guys getting attacked by undead or are you good?"
Assuming they're ok, she'll start from the opposite side as Stohp, also searching for secret doors/passages (automatically succeed on aid another for +2 to Stohp's check)

Bartomus was stumped. Nothing made sense in this situation and he earned about trying to figure out what they were missing. He joined the effort to look about trying to find some clue as to where throngs were.
