Boyo moves to help with the grapple. This time his assistance is better this time, and gives a +2 to the effort.
Zazu moves into the room and casts Obscuring Mist -- a real one this time, the last scroll spell the elf has. And all there are left in the wizard's head are cantrips and one final scorching ray.
From within the mist, Zazu listens hard to pinpoint the location of enemies outside the fog. Perception 30! That should be good enough to pinpoint combatants in melee, casters casting, and even people walking around with stealth scores up to 10.

Zazu ... well, the -1 per ten feet penalty affects that Perception roll, of course.
And for enemies to pinpoint Zazu, well, they saw the elf before casting that Mist, and Zazu can't have moved after that, so there's no need to pinpoint Zazu -- the square is obvious. Zazu still has that 50% miss chance vs archery. And no line of site for spells that require it. A fireball would still ruin poor Zazu's day.

Sahabiel grins at the enemy rogue. She is having a lot of trouble hitting them, but it seems her opponent is having comparable difficulty finding openings not protected by her shield or armor. And now that the numbers in the room favor her allies, even her just keeping one of the enemy's number tied up in a fruitless exchange of attacks is to the party's advantage.

Speaking of saves, Lothlo fails his, and stands rapt.
Naithi and Camalayas continue making things difficult for the remaining thug.
The archers fire into the Obscuring Mist, and one of them manages to hit Zazu for 5 damage.
The gnome takes a step back and casts a spell. Spellcraft DC 17 Highlight to display spoiler: {Hideous Laughter}. Panzer must make a DC 18 Will save or be overcome with the urge to laugh uncontrollably.
Beech moves his sphere and casts another Magic Missile.
Nightingale flurries at the fighter, hitting once.
Sahabiel attacks the rogue, but misses.
Galen moves to flank the rogue with Sahabiel, except no he doesn't. The rogue is dodging uncannily and is not flanked. Galen attacks anyway, and hits.
Naralyn moves to flank the fighter with Nightingale. Her rapier flashes once, and the fighter goes down.
Lamruil casts a Magic Misssile of his own, targeting the caster. She, too, goes down.
The rogue, realizing he is alone, attempts to retreat. He uses the withdrawal action, so he doesn't provoke from Galen, but he does provoke attacks of opportunity from Sahabiel and Lamruil. Lamruil thumps him with his staff for not very much damage.

Since it is fairly clear which door the fleeing rogue is trying to reach, it feels like a fair assumption that they do not want him going through that? Sahabiel makes a double move (20ft + 20ft) that puts her directly in front of that door before the rogue can get to it, and takes a stand with her shield and morningstar waiting.. she is not going to let him open that door if she can help it.

Panzer saves against the Hideous Laughter. He retaliates with a full attack. His kukris hit images, but his bite attack gets the actual caster. He tries to intimidate the gnome into surrendering.
Naithi and Camalayas pin the thug and administer a coup de grace. The thug fails his save and dies.
Lothlo snaps out of his fascination and shoots one of the archers, hitting twice.
The archers re-position and return fire on Lothlo, hitting for 4 and 9 damage.
The gnome seems unbothered by Panzer's attempt at intimidation. "You've got bigger problems than me, friend," she says. She takes a step back, pulls out a wand, taps herself, and vanishes.
Just then, Panzer feels the vicious bite of a kukri. You turn to see the leader from the previous room, now visible. Panzer takes 9 damage, and must succeed at a DC 15 Fortitude save or be paralyzed from the assassin's death attack.
Beech redirects the sphere and fires twice at the escaping rogue, hitting once.
Nightingale chases the rogue down and attacks, but misses.
Sahabiel double-moves to block the door.
Galen steps up to the rogue and attacks. His rapier strikes true, and the rogue falls.
The Den of Thieves battle is over.
Galen is bleeding from multiple injuries. Lamruil is in even worse shape. In contrast, Naralyn is only lightly wounded.

Fortitude save 7 Panzer feels his body go rigid from the skill of the slash. It hit a nerve cluster and he knew he was in real trouble. Naithi and Camalayas can't charge, but they can double-move and use a Hero Point to make an attack. And, good news, since they're doing it that way they can try to grapple. The attempt provokes an attack of opportunity, and Naithi is hit for 12 damage. This opponent is surprisingly slippery and just manages to elude the grapple.
Zazu casts a Scorching Ray at the assassin, scoring a critical hit!
Lothlo fires back at one of the archers, hitting once.
The assassin steps out of flank, draws a potion, and drinks it. In doing so, he provokes an attack of opportunity from Naithi and Camalayas, but his wounds close a bit. "You!" he calls to the archers. "Get over here and give me a flank!"
Obedient to the order, the uninjured archer moves to flank with the assassin. On the way, he drops his bow and draws a rapier. He attacks Naithi, but misses.
The other archer fires back at Lothlo, but also misses.
Panzer and Naithi see the door to the north of them open and close, seemingly by itself. It was probably the work of the invisible gnome caster, but which side of the door is she on?
In the Den of Thieves, Nightingale channels positive energy twice, healing her companions for a total of 17 damage.
Beech casts Detect Magic and finds that the opponents had quite a bit of magic on them. There are magic weapons, magic armors and shields, magic belts and cloaks, and a number of interesting miscellaneous auras tucked into belt pouches. Do you take the time to catalog everything, or is there something in particular you're looking for?
Sahabiel also heals her companions, for a total of 14 damage. You ask Naralyn which way to go.

"Leaving supplies behind for any who show up, is a terrible idea.but gathering armor, will take too long, The rest, with all of us gathering, shouldn't take more than half a minute or so." With everyone grabbing items, at one per round, and just grabbing a whole pouch if it has a bunch of stuff in it, won't take too long. "Any bags or pouches, hang them on my harness, they won't slow me down...."

While she is not going to waste time to remove armor or worn clothing off the defeated guild members, Sahabiel does collect any cloaks that radiate magics, as those are readily enough lifted from a person.

Naithi tries for another grapple, provoking an attack of opportunity from her target. He misses, and the grapple check succeeds.
On his turn, the leader tries to escape the grapple, and manages to wriggle out of Naithi's grasp. The remaining archer, now wielding a rapier, attacks and misses.
Nightingale confirms that she has nothing to help with fatigue. Beech begins pointing out magic items to take. Sahabiel suggests taking a little extra time with this might be worthwhile, considering the challenges that still face you.

For his regular action, the assassin attacks Naithi twice. He hits once, and Naithi takes 7 damage. He steps away to put his back to one of the training dummies.
From the pile of treasure, Nightingale grabs a Belt of Dexterity +2 and Boots of Striding and Springing.
Beech just makes sure nothing is left behind, apart from the armor which is just too bulky and awkward to carry around.
Sahabiel grabs one of the cloaks. Nightingale has already claimed the boots, but Sahabiel could have the Slippers of Spider Climbing, which might be fun.
When you are ready, Galen goes to stand in front of the door. When he is ready, he nods at Naralyn, who suddenly opens it. Clearly, this is a maneuver they have practiced many times.
The door leads into a small kitchen. A trapdoor in the floor has been left open, and a ladder descends into the darkness below. Galen looks at the rest of the party. "How do we want to do this?" he asks.

At the trapdoor, you sort yourselves into a marching order. Nightingale takes the lead, followed by Naralyn, who knows these tunnels. Sahabiel is next, followed by Galen and Lamruil. Beech brings up the rear, needing to go slowly due to his size.
The ladder leads to a corridor, which is dark. When he reaches the bottom, Lamruil conjures a Light. If anyone else has a light source, please say so.
The corridor is cut through the earth, with supports every few feet. Walls, floor, and ceiling are packed earth. When you get to the rooms, however, they will be stone.

Ash taps Panzer with the cure wand and reports that she sees no invisible people.
Panzer's movement provokes an attack of opportunity, which hits for 12 damage. Panzer's strike hits, then Lothlo follows up with a couple of arrows. Naithi's grapple is unnecessary, the assassin has fallen. There are no remaining foes in the room, not even invisible ones.
Sahabiel has low-light vision and Nightingale has darkvision; both are content with the level of light available. The earthen passageway extends for about 50 feet and ends in a simple wooden door.
"This was never trapped in my time," Naralyn whispers, "but I want to check to be sure." She examines the door closely; then shakes her head. "We're clear," she says and steps back.
Nightingale is in the lead; does she want to be the first through the door? Are there any preparations you'd like to make?

The envoy must be terrified. Seeing this type of life or death combat can't be easy for her. He grabs the assassin by the neckhole of his armor and drags him to the center of the room. He then drags the rest there too . He detects magic to see if they have any items that will prove useful. (passes armor check) Assuming Ash is healing him at some point he says " Thank you Ash. The wand was full to start with, how many charges are left? We need to gauge how many more beatings like this we can take."

Nightingale gently tests the door handle. It gives under your touch. You fling the door open.
The large room on the other side has several tables, most with documents and folders stacked on them. Maps of the city and the Culverwood are tacked to the walls. Near the center of the room, several rogues crouch behind the cover of two upturned tables. That is, they crouch behind the tables if you were coming from the other way. They clearly did not expect an assault from this direction, and they turn to look at you in surprise. There are four thugs, two sneaky-looking dark elves, and a human woman who seems to be in charge.

Sahabiel makes the split-second estimate that while the enemy is surprise, is going to be the best and last chance they are going to get before some bows are trained on the doorway. Rather than moving towards the thieves guild force however, she only covers the distance to the nearest table on her side of the room, and she uses her considerable strength to turn it over to form a barricade in the same manner that the enemy had thought to do.

Sahabiel moves in and sets up a barricade of her own.
Naralyn moves into the room and fires her hand crossbow at one of the thugs. He is still surprised, and Naralyn's sneak attack does a lot of damage.
Galen double-moves to stand in front of the leader.
Lamruil steps into the room and casts Haste. Everyone is hasted, except Galen who is too far away.
The injured thug moves to flank Galen, attacks, and hits. The other thugs move up to shoot at Naralyn, and one of them hits for a small amount of damage.
The dark elves move to flank Galen. Only one of them hits, but does a decent amount of damage.
The leader steps back and drinks a potion. She goes blurry around the edges, although she is still lit up by the Faerie Fire.

Naithi looks at the door (it's a single door, not a double door). It opens inward. You could try to wedge it shut, but you'd be trapping Ena in here--unless you had her come with you.
In the map room, Nightingale steps up and flurries one of the thugs.
Beech casts a Magic Missile. [3 magic missiles should be 3d4+3. You did 11 damage, not 9. Math is hard!]
Sahabiel pushes the upturned table along the floor. It's a difficult task; the floor is uneven and the table wasn't exactly designed to be slid. You can manage it, but you'll move slowly. You cast Shield of Faith.
Naralyn moves up to one of the dark elves. Galen steps to flank with her, then they both attack. Naralyn scores a critical hit, and the dark elf begins bleeding profusely. Galen strikes twice, finishing him off.
Lamruil casts a Flaming Sphere, placing it in the same square as the other dark elf.
One of the thugs moves to flank Sahabiel, then both attack. Neither is able to hit.
Two more thugs flank Naralyn. Or they think they do. It's uncanny how well she's dodging; they cannot hit her.
The dark elf makes his save and is unharmed by the Flaming Sphere. He moves to get a flank on Galen, but muffs his attack.
The woman steps up to Galen, drawing a greatsword. Her attack hits, and Galen staggers a bit.

Sahabiel gets a feeling that someone is trying to flank her, though she is not quite clear on who or where (map showed nobody there?), when she sees that one of the opponents has broken past their line and could be on Lamruil next. Since she would prefer to keep the proven powerful spellcaster uninterrupted at whatever his next move is going to be, she moves up from behind the barricade to intercept with a blow from her morningstar. Conveniently, she does so at a time that her target finds Nightingale on the other side of them, so it is a flanking attack!

Upon seeing the light ahead, Zazu rushes forward, urging Boyo to come with him. You see the source of the light. A group of foes has set up a defensive position at an intersection, using an upturned table as a barrier. When you get within range of the light, several missiles fly toward you. An arrow hits you for 11 damage. Another arrow skips off the ground near you. Two hand-crossbow bolts also miss. The arrows came from human archers; the bolts from halfling rogues.
Panzer moves up behind Zazu.
Ash remains in the training room, making sure that Silken is unconscious.
Naithi and Lothlo also head up the corridor.
Behind the ranged fighters is a human in chainmail. He casts a spell. Spellcraft DC 16 Highlight to display spoiler: {Bane}. Zazu, Boyo, Panzer, Lothlo, Naithi, and Camalayas will take -1 on all attack rolls and saves against fear effects unless they succeed at a DC 15 Will save.
In the map room, Beech shoots at one of the thugs. [The gold ones are the ones lit up with Faerie Fire.] Both shots hit.
Sahabiel steps forward to clobber the thug that Beech just shot.
Nightingale casts a spell, which provokes two attacks of opportunity. Since the rogues are still flanking, they hit and do sneak attack damage. Nightingale is hit for a total of 16 damage, which should knock her out.
Galen attacks the leader, hitting once but doing a lot of damage. He steps back next to Naralyn.
Naralyn steps over to attack the same thug that Beech and Sahabiel did. She hits once, but without her sneak attack, she doesn't do much damage.
Lamruil rolls his flaming sphere over to the same guy, who is really starting to feel picked on. Then he casts [i]Magic Missiles[/b] at the leader.
The thug makes his save against the flaming sphere, and steps over to attack Sahabiel. He hits for 6 damage. The remaining thugs surround Naralyn, who still isn't flanked. One of them does manage to hit her, though.
The dark elf and the leader set up a flank on Galen. The dark elf sneak attacks him, and the leader just whacks him with the greatsword. Galen is in trouble.

(armor check OK) He then heroically charges the barrier and vaults over it, between the archer and halfling manning the wall and lands next to the cleric. ( Spent double movement points for the space with the table, Will include 2 Acrobatics checks 1 for vaulting the table and one to avoid AoO in case that halfling has a weapon in his off hand, which Panzer just assumes he does) Acrobatics(vault) 19 Acrobatics(AoO) 20 ( I never specified what was in his hands as he went up the hallway. As they approach Camalayas begins to fall victim to the caster's spell, but before the fear can set in Naithi's calming presence steadies her. (With the share hit points ability if one of the two pass their save against mind affecting spells and abilities then both pass)
The two charge forward, jumping the table and digging past the enemy and begin trying to disarm them. We need to make sure we don't get surrounded she calls to Panzer as she jumps in the center of the enemies.

Lothlo suggests that Ash avail herself of his alchemists fire. Meantime, he fires two shots, hitting both times.
Naithi and Camalayas follow Panzer into the breach.
One of the archers shifts to flank Naithi with the other. Both draw rapiers and attack. One of them manages to hit, and Naithi takes 16 damage.
The halflings draw short swords, then shift to attack Naithi, though without flank to give them sneak attack damage, they're not going to be very effective. One of them hits for 2 damage.
The formerly invisible gnome becomes visible as she casts a spell. Spellcraft DC 18 Highlight to display spoiler: {Deep Slumber}. Naithi and Camalayas need to make DC 19 Will saves or fall asleep.
The human in chainmail reaches out to touch Panzer, and Panzer spontaneously begins bleeding. This round, he takes 4 damage.
Sahabiel sees her fall, but knows she has to deal with the problem in front of her first. And deal with it she does, felling the thug with a single powerful blow from her morningstar.
Beech fires twice and hits twice, taking out another thug.
"Galen, you're getting too old for heroics," Naralyn scolds. She dodges forward to help her companion, nimbly avoiding attacks of opportunity. Galen steps to flank the leader with Naralyn, then both attack. Only Galen hits, for a small amount of damage.
Galen moves his flaming sphere into one of the thugs, even as he moves to Nightingale, pulling out a potion as he goes.
One of the thugs moves to flank Naralyn with his leader, except she isn't flanked because rogue. He misses.
The remaining thug manages to avoid damage from the flaming sphere. He steps and attacks Sahabiel, hitting for 5 damage.
The dark elf moves to flank Galen with his leader. He attacks, but misses badly.

Panzer's spell knowledge finally fails him as the gnome slips a spell by him. Panzer looks around and suddenly thinks this was a much better idea while he was standing back there with his friends. Nothing for it now, these rogues needed to die, th faster the better. He stepped forward, and hoped that Niathi would follow him so as to get out of the flank fest that was going on back there. He could see the gnome now, there was only one of her and by the look of it she was the squishiest of his targets, so he let her have it with everything he had. Sahabiel feels the satisfaction of her opponent folding up under the force of her strike, but barely has he gone down or another steps up. She is just a little too slow to block the thug with her shield, and she feels the pain as the enemy lands a hit.
"Can't ya lot give a girl a break?", she hisses at her new opponent, while seeing from the corner of her eye that Lamruil has reached Nightingale... well, that is a relief then at least. She has no choice but to trust her companion's survival to him, while she reestablishes her footing and from behind her shield lays into the remaining thug with her own weapon... or tries to, anyway.

Blood pours down Naithi's side where the arrow pierced and Camalayas pales from the loss of blood. They quickly look for the most weakened (most injured/lowest hp) enemies on range and attack. If the enemy falls they will move into that square. If not they will take a 5ft step north (or however they have the least number of people able to attack them)

The archer steps back, so he is out of sight for Ash, Lothlo, and Zazu. The other archer draws a rapier and moves to flank Naithi with the remaining halfling. Both attack, and both miss.
The gnome reaches out to try to touch Panzer, but isn't able to connect. She steps back.
The human in chainmail steps to flank Panzer and tries to cast a spell defensively. He does not succeed. However, Panzer, continues to bleed, taking one more point of damage.
In the map room, Sahabiel attacks the thug, hitting and doing damage. Beech fires twice at the same target, hitting once.
Lamruil feeds Nightingale a potion, and she recovers 10 hp.
Naralyn and Galen step to flank the leader, then attack. She falls under their combined attacks.

Naithi looks for a wounded opponent, but there aren't any at present. You attack the archer, and hit twice. Camalayas misses her attacks.
Lothlo offers Ash a slingshot, and continues firing, now targeting the halfling. Your shot hits and does damage.
The archer steps out and fires at Lothlo. His arrow hits, and Lothlo takes 13 damage.
The other archer and the halfling attack Naithi. The halfling hits, and does 20 damage.
Panzer continues to bleed and loses another 5 hp. The human priest tries again to cast defensively, and again fails. He mutters a few choice curses.
Nightingale stands up and uses a wand to summon a celestial hound.
Sahabiel further damages the thug in front of her. Beech adds a little damage, but the combat gods are being especially cruel to him this fight.
Lamruil hits the same thug with Magic Missiles, and that is enough to take him out. Between them, Naralyn and Galen make short work of the other thug.
Seeing his exit blocked, the dark elf turns and makes for the other door, provoking an attack of opportunity from the celestial hound. He reaches the other door, but doesn't have enough actions left to open it.

Zazu and Boyo move to flank the halfling. The archer is still holding his bow, so they only provoke from the halfling himself. He misses. Zazu does not miss, and damages the halfling.
Naithi goes on full defense and backs up. Luckily, one archer is dead, the other archer is still holding a bow, and the halfling already used his attack of opportunity on Zazu. Naithi is able to retreat.
The remaining archer drops his bow and draws his rapier, moving to flank Boyo with the halfling. Both attack. Boyo is hit for 14 damage, which should put him unconscious.
Panzer bleeds another 4 hit points, then the bleeding seems to stop. The human cleric casts defensively, and succeeds this time. Spellcraft DC 19 Highlight to display spoiler: {Poison} He reaches out and touches Panzer. Panzer must make a DC 20 Fortitude check or take 2 points of Constitution damage.
Beech fires twice at the retreating dark elf, hitting once. Nightingale and her hound both move to try to stop the dark elf's retreat. Sahabiel also moves, but cannot reach him in time.
The dark elf yanks open the door and runs through it, provoking from the hound. He keeps running, calling loudly for somebody called "Brother Reaper."
"Let him go," Galen advises. "We don't know what he might be trying to lead us into. We're hurt and need a moment to regroup."

Looking unhappy, the archer shifts his bow to his off hand, draws his rapier, and attacks Zazu. He isn't actually very good with a rapier, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. He nicks Zazu for 4 damage.
Just then, a dark elf comes pelting down the corridor to the left (behind Zazu and the archer). "Brother Reaper! Brother Reaper!" he shouts. "They've broken through! They're right behind me!" (He has not yet made it onto the map.)
Nightingale claims the short sword, and Sahabiel helps everyone get back into marching order.
"This way," Naralyn says. She leads you through a series of corridors that seem to twist in on themselves, crossing and re-crossing with bewildering frequency. Ash is suitably impressed by the way Naithi is able to heal herself. That means when Ash gets better with her healing spells she'll be able to heal the pair twice as well!

Ash shoots a glob of acid at the remaining archer, and warns the group that others are coming.
Panzer offers a few taunts to Brother Reaper and invites him to surrender. We'll never know how he would have answered, though, since Lothlo finishes him off with a couple of arrows.
The remaining archer immediately throws down his rapier. "I yield!" he cries. "I yield! No more!"
The dark elf comes pelting down the corridor, then slows when he sees the situation. He turns to see the rest of the party coming behind him, and throws down his own weapon, raising his hands.
Sahabiel, Nightingale, Beech, Galen, Lamruil, and Naralyn arrive seconds later, but there is little left for them to do. The only opponents left standing have surrendered. The battle is over.
Hero Points all around. That was a tough one. Or rather, a series of tough ones.

I'd say it's rather high, considering the fact that you brought the house down behind you and we had to go searching for a whole other way around. Ash gets the Cure wand out again and strokes Boyo's fur with it, gently rousing the bunny back to consciousness. She waits to see if anyone has any healing channels to use before she starts tapping away with the wand again.
She raises an eyebrow at Beech's comment. "Brought the house down? It was more like they collapsed it when they didn't see anyone else coming and to keep us apart. Anyway, Ena's back there. Ena! You can come up now!" Ash calls to let the emissary know she can come in now. "Looks like you brought some help" she says nodding towards Galen and company.

Panzer wobbles over to the newcomers and greets them. He is a sight. Through 4 battles he has nearly been dropped twice, he has been poisoned, he has been made to bleed uncontrollably and he has killed more than a half dozen enemies in close combat. He is tired, sweaty, dirty and his fur and gear are covered in blood. Some of it his own, some of it from his foes. He leans against the wall, breathing hard. " That poison spell took alot out of me, I'm glad we don't have to clear any more rooms. Do we still have time to get Ena to her meeting Galen? Oh, Hi Lamruil and you too lady. I don't know you but I'm sure Galen will make introductions soon." Panzer heads to the back and drags Silken up to the front." We also have a surviving leader of the Guild to present to the authorities as well Who should we turn her over to? the folks at the meeting?"

If we have taken down most of this branch, then I am all for making the most of the opportunity to seize their records if we can find them... to see if they were overconfident enough to write down who they were working with or the reach of their influence in this town... anyway, I expect that some evidence linking that new trade company to the thieves' guild would be an interesting talking point for Ena, hm?"
