Pru's elementals do not survive the fire damage this round whether they make their reflex saves or not.

(OOC: I believe your math is off on Murphy’s save. Because Murphy is wildshaped which I believe is essentially a long lasting polymorph effect and per the polymorph rule description under transmutation magic: The DC for any of these abilities equals your DC for the polymorph spell used to change you into that form. the DC of Murphy’s whirlwind is 10 + 7 (Murphy’s Wildshape functions as elemental body IV for wildshaping into elementals + Murphy’s Wisdom modifier (spellcasting stat) = 9 so 10 + 7 + 9 = 28)

Nikolai offers ability healing.
Murphy and his elementals also turn into vortexes and have a vortex party but the chaos elemental is nimble and rolled well except against Murphy so only Murphy’s vortex touches it and it is still not dead after that.
Kezzem moves next to Pressi and Tali and remarks at all the summons
Pru sees her elementals no longer survive and refrains from summoning more.
Pressi avoids the vortex and fires off another ill omen only to have her spell negated and suffer a -6 penalty to all stats for 1 round
(OOC: Tali can retroactively have a turn tomorrow)
The elemental moves through Murphy’s squares, Elemental 2, 3 and 4 squares and Pru’s squares requiring a DC 37 reflex save or take 28 damage. If Pru is damaged she needs to make a second DC 37 reflex save to avoid being picked up by the chaos elemental’s vortex.

The elemental then does something that takes a standard action.

Murphy dismisses with a quick word of gratitude the remaining elder water elemental, and then the giant snapping turtles. He wonders about the one turned to stone. How might that work out for him? He resolves to investigate later.

"Thanks, Succo!" the druid acknowledges the blessings of the healing waves his friend sent out.

"You are willing to wait until later to find Harper?" Murphy asks Pressi, wanting to be certain she is sure. If so, he will forge ahead.

"PRUDENCE:* I asked you about three or four times if you could cast, or did cast, telepathic bond upon all of us. Did you happen to hear me?" he asks with a watery elemental smile. [So, do we already have it? If not, would you be so kind as to cast the spell for us?]

Once Pru casts the spell (or declines so to do), unless someone objects to his making this move, Murphy swims toward the exit, wondering if the water continues, or if there is stone or the like in the way of passage. If stone or similar obstacle, he will shift into huge earth elemental, and carefully glide - off to one side down near the edge of the exit. He uses his tremor sense to discern anything making any movement in the local environment (up to 60' away).

Keep in mind 9th-level Foresight which should give Murphy a warning an a precaution to take before he does something that might threaten him.

The underwater tunnel is fairly long. Certainly long enough for the boiling water to eliminate all of the summons. Whatever light was shining from above quickly fades away, requiring the party to use magic to light the way forward for those without darkvision. It leads them deeper and deeper, eventually curving to start heading horizontally instead of deeper into the earth. As they travel they find themselves in a space where the tunnel widens into an oval chamber - at the bottom rests a skeleton of some kind and it has gates on both sides.

The entrance to this huge chamber is adorned with 2 massive columns constructed from the rib bones of whales. Scrimshaw pictographs depict the cultists getting in longboats and harpooning many whales to death in order to harvest enough bones to craft their construct.

Another column depicts the unholy ritual the cultists enacted in order to bring forth their hellish creation. They crafted a monster from the bones of the whale and bargained with a devil to make it even more powerful.

Murphy's foresight warns them of danger as soon as they enter the chamber.

Several slain whales, twisted and turned by abominations, I would as soon destroy. My danger sense is on high alert, but has not yet clued me in as to WHAT specifically is dangerous nor in what way."
Foresight: "You receive instantaneous warnings of impending danger or harm to the subject of the spell. You are never surprised or flat-footed. In addition, the spell gives you a general idea of what action you might take to best protect yourself."
So Murphy is pumping foresight to give him a clear notion as to what he might do to best protect himself against this vague looming threat, rather than learning after the harm already has come his way... "Hmmm... what is the best thing I can do to counter what may be about to befall us?"

Kezzem wonders if a hellish whalebone construct is smitable and that he can share smites. Sadly if it is a construct it would still be neutral even if a devil went into empowering it.
Pru casts Telepathic Bond on the party and Darkvision on Nikolai and herself.
Succotash thanks Pru for the bond and suggests the scrimshaw is all kinds of wrong and that they should keep their eyes open.
Pressi gives up on getting a moment to divine Harper and uses remote viewing to get an idea of what is coming up and casts shield of faith. Pressi sees a lumbering whale skeleton that has a set of bony legs affixed to its frame. Its bones bear complex scrimshaw patterns.
Tali looks around with her goggles of night trying to tell what is what and can concur with the others that the massive columns do show the story of cultists harpooning whales, turning them into a construct and making a deal with some kind of devil to give it more power.

Murphy suggests he might be able to do some bone crunching if he changes forms. He says he’d befriend a living whale but he wants to destroy the twisted abomination. He asks out loud who the devil is and tries to figure out what the best way he can defend himself. Murphy gets the impression of a fear aura, and a breath weapon so powerfully evil it can burn underwater. As he ponders about the devil he gets an insight that if they could somehow get a copy of the contract it wouldn’t attack them and that perhaps all this scrimshaw actually means something in terms of how the construct functions.

Nikolai thanks Pru for the spells and suggests that they have to fight some big bony thing

Attempts to spot whatever danger awaits fails - it’s not in line of sight from the door. You’d have to enter the room, which Murphy’s foresight warns the group will cause the doors to start to close. You’ll all have to move in together else risk someone getting locked in without the team to back them up.

Murphy passes on his surmise to all via their telepathic bond (thanks, Pru!) that we need to figure how to get a copy of the contract. "Let's spend a few moments to decipher the scrimshaw. Once we go through those doors, they will close behind us, so let's first figure this out - and when we're ready, let's go as a group. Oh, there's some sort of a fear aura, and a breath weapon so potent in its evil that it can burn underwater.

"So, help us figure this out, see if we can find or decipher a copy of the contract before we move on."

Murphy uses the telepathic link to tell the others what he has surmised and then starts using his wide range of language skills coupled with his appreciation of art to try to figure out a way to get a copy of the contract with the devil used to construct it.
Succotash is also a talented linguist and joins Murphy in attempting to get a clue from the art.
Kezzem cheers them on
Pru also plays cheerleader.
Pressi uses read magic, detect magic and her knowledge of arcana to learn more about what is going on.
Nikolai shares what languages he speaks.
Tali casts true seeing.

Pressi can puzzle out based on Murphy’s description of a scrimshawed whale monster that it is likely a Killikut but a lot of what he is describing suggests that it has been modified somehow due to the contract with the devil. It is hard to know what of its base abilities remained intact due to the unusual nature of the construct.

With several minutes of research, educated guesses, and the wide variety of skills the party has they might be able to figure out the name of the demon the contract was formed with and summon it. If they do so they might be able to find out more or even greatly weaken the enemy. But is it worth the risk of dealing with a powerful demon?

"Might the powers of darkness work against one another?" Murphy asks (telepathically). "Well, they might. But I'd rather petition the powers of light, for what better to overcome darkness? Why do we not now appeal to the gods we serve?" he enjoins his friends.

"I have served Eberyon for years now, shortly after my brother, sisters, and cousins fought against him, the adventurers of the Wold prevailed, and they chose mercy for him, and reform. Indeed, he did reform, and that measure of humility after his former display of overweening pride won my heart over. Ever have I served him faithfully. Though regularly he has blessed me through my acquisition of spells and druidic power, never, to my limited knowledge, has he directly come to my aid. If he has, and I was unaware, I ask his forgiveness for failure to acknowledge. So, I shall ask the one whom I have served for his aid, his guidance, his counsel, his succor. Perhaps some of you may wish to do something similar."

Murphy comes out of wildshape, and raises his hands above his head in supplication, and prays thus:
"Lord Eberyon, you have great power, and so much of nature is yours. So much of beauty. You are creator of the Wold's Cradle, and King of the Fey. I have sought to serve you as I perceived you would want me to do. I must confess that I have fallen short from time to time, and thus I seek your forgiveness and restoration. In those ways I may have pleased you, I am grateful for the gifts you have given to enable me so to do, and grateful to my friends for their help in doing good. We face ever-increasing dangers, and now, I sense, we face a series of great tests and challenges.

"A power is now attempting to arise, and appears to be allied with devils. We have gotten to know several of this power's followers. We see the evil deeds of the power's followers. I beseech your aid against this power. Thank you, Lord Eberyon, for bending your ear to hear my prayer."

Pru votes no on summoning the devil.
Murphy comes out of wildshape to offer up a prayer to Eberyon suggesting the others do the same.
Nikolai discusses how to ensure everyone gets inside quickly enough. It doesn’t look like it’ll be a problem, the gate is wide enough (the gate thing is just so 1 person doesn’t go scouting solo)
Pressi comments on the erase spell and wonders what exactly Murphy expects from just normal prayer.

The only response to Murphy’s prayer is a slightly greater then normal awareness of his own magical powers. It seems beyond providing incredible magical powers that refresh every morning the gods can’t or won’t provide direct aid. That’s been enough in the past, hopefully it’ll be enough for the immediate future.

I have tools with me - they are for working on hardwood, but should work on bone, I think. Of course, the act of altering it could set something off, I suppose."

He casts a fresh stoneskin spell on himself.

Then asks, "What if we wrap these bones in silk rope? We might be able to pull them together, crack them, with us surrounding, pulling different directions." He gets out four 50' lengths of silk rope, and offers some to whoever would like to join in on this plan, then shape changes into a huge, buff earth elemental. "Harder for something to pull me around this way, than as a halfling." If it looks like any think his plan workable, he will join in with others to begin a wrapping party.

Succotash is vehemently against summoning a devil. He’d rather face Lord Gargul with a clean conscience than deal with the added trouble of a devil on top of the construct considering it could turn south and they’d have to fight both.
Kezzem incredulously asks if the party is seriously considering summoning an evil outsider as they are worse than Ketia.
Murphy tells the others Eberyon is telling them they got this before asking his wife more details about the construct and if she knows how to alter scrimshaw. He even suggests maybe they could crack the decorative whalebone pillars and take them with them.
Pressi isn’t liking the way the party is getting all judgy over devil summoning so she lets the party know. She also suggests any edge over a construct is worth seeking since a Devil is less difficult for a party than a construct.
Pru is alarmed by Murphy’s suggestion to take the whalebone columns with them. She says she doesn’t pull things and asks if they really want bone shards flying everywhere
Tali contemplates trying to figure out if they could just teleport beyond the whale bone guardian into the next room.
Nikola suggests it isn’t a good idea to bring in another enemy considering devils are evil so how could you know if you could trust it. He suggests somethings they could try on it like raise dead or sonic spells.

"Sorry, hon, let's reserve talking things over with devils or demons for some other occasion," Murphy chats with his wife. "Who knows? That opportunity may come later on this week."

Since no one else seems keen to help out with the rope-'em-up tactic, Murphy switches back for a moment to halfling, stows three of the ropes, but keeps one out, and also pulls out the silk rope harness he made some time ago so that his friends can use him as a water taxi, then wild shapes to his water elemental form, easing into the harness, since the party is still in an aquatic environment.

Allowing time for whatever pre-move-in actions any other party members want to take, thus just before they go together through the doors, and from his new wand, Murphy casts prayer (10 rounds) (You and each of your allies gain a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks, while each of your foes takes a -1 penalty on such rolls). That stacks with Succotash's bless (Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects. Bless counters and dispels bane.)
For attack rolls: +1 luck, +1 morale
For weapon damage: +1 luck
For saves: +1 luck, vs fear add also +1 morale
For skill checks: +1 luck
Bad guy(s): attack, damage, saves, skills: -1 luck
"Grab on to the harness if you want as we go in. Let go when you figure you're in a good spot. Let's do this - together." He also communicates his plan to flow by the scrimshawed monster, then come back against it. Murph leads the way, hauling those who want the assistance, and briefly checking to ensure none are left behind. He swims past the kikituk - preferably at a distance of more than 20', out of reach, so that people can drop off along the way where they wish to, then he turns and accelerates toward the bony thing to slam it.

If able to get that far, he slams AC 42 for 29 damage (add 1 to damage if haste is going), and AC 34 for 26 (or 27) damage.

Did we come in through the right sight of the map, or the left side? I'm thinking the right side, but would appreciate knowing for certain. What is the depth and height of the room with the Kikituk? (If it's a cube, then the question is answered, with 60' height, length, and breadth - if otherwise, please let us know). [btw, please rename the map to Kikituk instead of Kitikut]

Will save 50/31 - Murphy is not shaken, so he will see that things are stirred.

As stated earlier, Murphy had entered, swimming in a loop. Based upon the DM post, will assume there was no time to bash into the skeleton. Will use the previously rolled attacks, but am putting in a free-action haste at the beginning of his turn, so adding to them. He slammed AC 42 for 29 damage, and AC 35 for 26 damage. [Tali - roll 1d20+ sorcerer level (20) + anything else that would help you overcome SR (Spell Resistance) to see if your Wish spell overcomes the kikituk's SR (which we don't yet know precisely). The prayer spell may give you a +1 luck bonus to your roll (+1 on attack rolls, saves, skill checks) but I'm not sure it applies to SR.]

Murphy casts cure serious wounds, mass so as to affect himself and all his allies, HEALING 32 HP OF DAMAGE TO EACH PARTY MEMBER.

Already at a height of ~45', Murphy essentially takes a 5' move upwards, rising to the very top of the room, his body pressed against the ceiling and flattened to about 10' thick... so his lowest parts are about 50' above the floor.

"Go ahead, Tali, if you need to. Keep it low, but enough so it can get the abomination, and none of us." The rest of the party can telepathically hear what he said to her.

Also, with the 61 perception he rolled to discern something was dropping off the kikituk, surely he must have some sort of notion as to what those two things were, right?

Since his scarab of golembane is effective, any damage Murphy has done to the kikituk should be 100% effective, with no damage reduction in effect for the wickedly carved construct.

The prayer effects, after the initial 40-ft.-radius burst goes off, still benefit people even if they go farther away from Murphy after the prayer was initially cast. They simply needed to be within 40 ft of him at the time of casting - and all were that close. "It hits whoever was in range, and then those targets have the effect for the duration." The kikituk and infernal allies were not within that initial area of effect.

Succotash tries to cast Blade Barrier but it doesn’t overcome the Kitikuk’s Spell Resistance so the Kitikuk ignores it however the smaller creature is destroyed by the force of the spell.
Murphy tells the others about the things that dropped of the Kikituk
Pru pegs the Kikituk with a Disintegrate. She hits with the ray, overcomes its SR but the construct resists the brunt of the affect taking only 17 damage. She follows up with magic missiles. (OOC: can I get a seperate SR roll for the magic missile?)
Pressi warns the others not to cast summon spells and then uses her own breathe weapon. The Kikituk reflexively dodges some of it (Reflex Save: 39 vs 26 I believe) so only 10 damage
Tali attempts to use a wish spell to send the Kikituk and its invisible friend packing to Koshe Marr. Both the Kikituk and its friend failed the Wil saves at 26 and 9 respectively and she beats the SR.
Kezzem is all ready to go on the attack but there are no targets anymore.
Nikolai doesn't do anything as there’s nothing to do.
Murphy casts some healing.

With the enemy suddenly gone the combat suddenly ends and all goes silent.

"Koshe Marr?" Murphy says. "I remember Koshe Marr. Appropriate spot. Outstanding move, Tali."

He looks at the brass dragon, and swims down to her. "I am so glad I married you, dragon lady." He gives his blinking wife a watery peck on the cheek.

Murphy, along with Nikolai, also contemplates what it was that dropped off of the kikituk [recall the 61 perception to discern]. [DMs - any explanations on this matter?]

He wildshapes to himself, pulls a lightly-used wand of CLW from his bandolier, wildshapes to a small-sized water elemental, and goes to work bringing everyone back to as full health as he can accomplish.
Healing by Murphy
Just before he beings the following medical services, Murphy asks, "WHO CAN RESTORE OUR SAPPED STRENGTH?" [I think I'm down 3, maybe 4 STR]
Tali, Nikolai, and Pressi already were healed to full by Murphy's recent +32 mass CSW.
He then heads over to Prudence, and, via the magic of a CLW wand, heals her for 8+9+8=25 hp, bringing her up to full (if the hp number in the header is accurate).
Valery was at 88, then following the CSW, mass +32, then add 6+3+9+6=24, now full up at 143.
Succotash was at 140/142 after the CSW, mass. I'm keeping that d8=1, +1 from the spell at 1st level, bringing him up to 142/142
Last, he goes to work on himself: 9+9+5+8+3+5+3+3+7+6+6+6+8+7+6+8+6+4+3+8+7+8+6+3+9+5+5+9+3=175. Back to full with 30 applications of his wand of cure light wounds, plus 8 for others. He is glad he has multiple such wands. The time taken to help everyone is about four to five minutes.
After the curing is complete, he comments. "We have faced two challenges. How many more do we face until the most serious one? How do we disrupt the ceremonial advancements? Do we now forge ahead to face our next challenge? Or rest and recuperate?"

And for our DMs: Are there any other discernable after-effects from what the kikituk and its helpers put us through?

"There's no interdimensional travel in.. or out... of this cave, which is why we couldn't just come after him. Harper, she's just outside. The creature we fought? Probably the other side of the planet but he's still on this plane. I'm wondering if gating a demon actually would have worked, in hindsight. But we might be limited on some spells."

Regarding rest, "We're probably racing against time, and against a guy that knows where we are and how fast we are moving. Trying to rest isn't a luxury we can afford. Besides, I've still got a decent number of spell slots including my own wish if needed. Which I'm holding on to because..."

Pressi let out a sigh. "I don't know yet how to stop the ceremony, bond to the device, break the device. I have a couple of ideas and might get a chance to see the ceremony in action. But I'm holding on to miracle as a trump card, betting that it will help avoid certain protections."

Pressi doesn't need to rest for strength (it being artificially boosted by the dragon form). Instead, she takes some time to examine the other doorway.

Well, with the two healing energy channels Succotash performs, looks like Murphy got through two CLW on Prudence, and then most everyone's wounds were healed up, except for a portion of Murphy's own. He applies the CLW wand to self to make up the balance... using only 19 charges total between himself and Prudence. Rather than 4 - 5 minutes as earlier described, it takes him only 2 -3 minutes total.

"Hey, looks like my strength - such as it is - has returned. Doesn't take hours, takes moments. Thanks for teaching us about the Kikituk and Topilaq, Tali, and Pressi."

After nodding his head at Kezzem's affirmation of beauty, a thought occurs. "Perhaps Harper can climb the oak tree I planted out of sight of the pond, and rest up until we get back,"

"Let's examine this chamber, try to ensure we don't overlook anything, then see about continuing our advance," Murphy recommends. "Each of us should do what we can, or eat a biscuit." He dives down to where this room's inhabitants were sitting initially. He forgoes the biscuit option.

The druid's perception is functioning at an extremely high level (65). He could find dandruff on a flea. He also detects for magic, secret compartments, and the like. And, if something is out in the open, glaring and obvious, let us hope his attention to minutiae does not miss the unmissable.

Once he and anyone else who care to help have figured out what they can about the Kikituk chamber, he says, "Whether we try to get all the way to the end in one fell swoop, let us at least see what lies on the other side of the doorway."

Is the door open? Can it be opened? Any obvious way to do so?

Murphy asks about opening the door that leads onward
Succotash channels healing but does not end up using the restoration as the strength damage mostly cleared up on its own while he was busy channeling and in 12 more seconds it is gone completely.
Kezzem jokes about his wand considering he realized he was healing the strength damage without it and was beaten on using his wand by Succotash. He remarks he’s here to just stand around and look pretty
Pru says she is also here for that to Kezzem
Tali learns of the Topilaq and about their rotting aura and channeling positive energy / other healing spell uses overcome the non Strength based damage the aura inflicted while a short amount of time is all that is needed to regain Strength
Pressi feels so much better as Murphy hugs her and shares everything she’s learned with the group then makes the argument for pressing on considering she still has a lot of spells including a wish of her own.
Murphy uses his CLW wand to heal what Succotash’s channeling didn’t, thanks Pressi and Tali for their knowledge of their former adversaries and then also advocates pressing on after eating a biscuit or the equivalent. To that end he examines the chamber and the door leading out.
Nikolai gives Pru a peck on the cheek and remarks the construct was using demon fire and that was why she got singed.

The room is thoroughly examined. There doesn’t seem to be much to it, it seems mostly designed to force any intruders into a concentrated area where the aura’s could affect them. It has a sandy bottom that conceals but a stone floor underneath and the gates are just complicated enough to open to make it hard to do during combat. With the enemies gone there is nothing stopping the PC”s from just moving on. A tunnel on the opposite side from where you entered leads onward.

Some answers about the ritual.

1) It's the creature in physical possession of the item (in this case, probably the BBEG unless he has a minion doing the ritual) that gets the will save. (If the item is in nobody's possession, there's no will save, but I assume it's being used currently.)

2) I followed the link and I'm pretty sure it's the cursed items table, since I'm cursing the item. Also, the cursed items results make more sense than "the item gets a tatoo." (Curse goes to the item, not the possessor.)

3) It's an hour and the coven just like any other ritual, but I don't know if I need to try cursing it there or not. Murphy suggests that some sort of magic is at work preventing their current location from being underwater kind of like the South Peaseblossom river that one time (OOC: good times). He then earth glides down to scout out the area.
Succotash concurs with Murphy’s assessment of magic but says it is good to be dry nonetheless and requests Prestidigitation to dry off.
Kezzem suggests if there is no danger then they are in the wrong place and they need to keep going.
Pressi gives answers about the ritual which given that they have not yet reached the artifact she does not yet know the result.
(OOC: You’ve swayed me on pulling the trigger later; however, the bloodwitch class rules specifically mention drawbacks not curses when it comes to the ritual of items and drawbacks apply to the person using the item not the item itself so the item wouldn’t glow or have a scar or new tattoo the next person using the item would)
Pru sets about being a magical clothes dryer with Prestidigitation
Tali asks if they have time to meditate for 2 hours
Nikolai keeps a lookout for natural traps.
Murphy opines if they are going to rest for 2 hours they might as well rest for 8 so that everyone can recover

Murphy’s attempt at earthgliding doesn’t really work. He gets about 5 feet down, far enough to half melt into the stone in his huge form, before something just stops him. It’s like trying to force your way through a brick wall, which should be easy for an earth elemental but nope. At beast he might be able to hide in the earth if he was medium or small. He cannot scout in it and his larger sized form just won’t fit before whatever power is stopping it from working halts him.

A bit more exploration shows that the room ends in a plain stone door. Foresight and other
senses/spells/whatever indicate the next encounter awaits on the other side.

Succotash says he would love an 8 hour nap and reloading of spells but he fears they don’t have that luxury especially if the next baddy is beyond the door. He said it would be different if they had a way to seal the door but then again the magic keeping the place dry is pretty powerful so a mere barricade might be child’s play for their enemies.

Murphy suggests they tackle whatever is in the next room first and then rest after.
Pru says she still has plenty of spells but then reminds them that if they really need rest she has her magnificent mansion.
Pressi or Know[arcana] DC 20 Highlight to display spoiler: {Or does she? The cave systems were specifically warded against interdimensional travel so much so in fact that Harper got shunted to the cave entrance instead of another realm and the Kikituk got booted halfway around the Wold instead of to Koshe Marr, might some other mishap occur with the use of a magical mansion?}

Nikolai suggests 8 hours gives their enemy too much time to prepare and even 2 hours might be pushing it so he suggests they press on, taking some time to examine the door. It has no traps and is opened with a simple doorknob.
Kezzem makes a terrible pun in agreeing with Nikolai that they should press on.
Pressi uses her domain granted clairaudio and casts shield of faith. (OOC: you can use this ability at will but you are limited to 20 total rounds per the domain write up). How many times have you used this ability so far today and how long do you listen for now / did you listen in the past)

With an agreement not to rest and to press on and no real way to scout or prepare the party presumably advances. Despite a general moratorium on divination spells on the area the clairaudio spell works, but doesn’t tell you much of anything. Pressi hears loud breathing and no conversation.

Upon entering the room the party finds some sort of ritual chamber. The large center area has been used for so many blood sacrifices it seems permanently stained with blood. Small ramps along the walls are clear of the stains, presumably for observers or something, but the walls are lined with creepy looking statues of various infernal monsters.

Crouching in the center of the room is a great demon, one those versed in such things recognizes as a Balor. It is reading some sort of book, apparently passing the time. At the sound of the door it looks up, says ”Ah, they finally arrived.” before it dogears a page (how evil!) and tucks the book away somewhere.

”Greeting mortal heroes. I am under contract to kill you. So sorry. I’ll be sure to bring you tea in the afterlife to make up for it later.”

It launches into a summoning spell.

(OOC: roll vs SR 31 to see if the ill omen affects the demon)

The demon ignore’s Prudance’s question, he is in the temple fortress of Scald so it’s pretty obvious. To Murphy he says politely, ”A group called the Sea Dragons. I prefer Nettlebrew myself.” The more cultured halflings recognize the brand of tea as something made in the Culverwood widely considered to be an insult to halfling pallets. It’s usually only bought by stuffy upper class halflings to serve to a guest as a deliberate insult, as politeness usually demands the guest finish the foul brew.

The Balor doesn’t let his wordplay distract from his swordplay. He strikes at Murphy, but rolls poorly and misses all 4 strikes.

Succotash orders Valerie to attack and pounce the Balor.
Valerie hits 3 times with her hasted talon bite and left claw for 182 damage. Valerie though takes 9 fire damage
Kezzem smites the Balor too for another 214 damage killing it.
Pru goes to disintegrate but Kezzem and Valerie’s smiting have already killed the demon
Pressi puts a death ward on Murphy but the Balor is dead so there is no need of the irresistible dance
Tali can decide whether to time stop and summon or not with the Balor being dead.
Nikolai moves in.
Murphy makes some comments about tea that are sadly lost on the deceased enemy.

As Kezzem’s killing blow lands the balor falls to a knee. Glowing light surges from under it’s skin before it’s form erupts into fire that fills the room.

Everyone takes 100 fire damage, DC 33 reflex for half.

As the fire fades nothing remains of the demons but loose, charred pages of the book it was reading. It seems it was borrowed from some mortal who won’t be getting it back. More concerning are the statues. They seem to have absorbed the fire, activating somehow. Ominous glowing eyes now surround the party.

Portals start to form. Between the largest two statues, statues of robe clad figures holding great swords, shadows seem to collect into a massive portal and the Balor they just killed emerges from it with a fiendish smile.

A second portal, between two statues of attractive elven women in some form of dancer’s outfit, forms from fire and three Maralith’s emerge blades twirling.

The final portal forms between two statues of stout dwarven warriors in full plate mail. It forms a portal of sickly green light. From it emerges 5 Glabrazu.

The Balor advances, confident despite how easily he was felled. ”Oh, I’m sorry, do you not like my choice of tea? I’ll be sure to help you learn to love it once I’ve claimed your souls!”

Charging into the group he says a word in his demonic tongue so foul that it’s almost painful. All the summons are instantly banished. All PCs and non-summons must make a DC 25 will save or be dazed.

The Glabrezu’s spend a round casting buffing. 3 cast mirror image on themselves. 2 coat the area in reverse gravity, sending all PC’s floating into the air helplessly 10 feet off the ground.

The Maralith all cast fly on themselves.

Murphy takes the full brunt of the Balor's firey explosion - except that he has energy protection (fire). That plus Succotash's timely channeled energy top him off hp-wise. He activates Prayer (10 rounds), affecting all in the room (good for the good guys, bad for the bad guys), and heroically wildshapes into an air elemental.

"Our souls are not yours to claim, drinker of foul tea."

Murph, Nik, and Val get a +4 bonus to their save if it is charm, compulsion, or fear effect.

"You again?" asks Kezzem. "Didn't I just kill you?"

Kezzem uses his metamagic rod to cast quicken holy sword on a second returning dagger (swift action). Kezzem then unloads with his throwing daggers (Quick Draw to draw mundane daggers for iterative strikes since returning daggers only return at the end of the round).

I doubt the balor takes any elemental damage so I listed it separately. Also, just a reminder, the first hit does an additional 18 damage.

Balor Party!

Tali, realizing the Balor died, stops spell casting, but then he dishes out damage on his immolation exit. Tali makes the reflex save (DC=33, rolled 36) and takes 50 points of Infernal fire damage. Succotash then channels energy healing, and heals her back up; 69 HPs worth. Then the Balor bastard reappears and casts a Gaze attack with (DC=25 will save | Tali makes her Will save as well!)

Now Tali is really aggravated, she reaches into her front pocket and withdraws another gem, casting another Wish spell and specifically using the
Transport travelers for this instance of her spell:

Tali using her WISH spell, will transport the Balor & all its friends to the Shadow Kingdoms of Koshe Marr.

Transport travelers

A wish can lift one creature per caster level from anywhere on any plane and place those creatures anywhere else on any plane regardless of local conditions. An unwilling target gets a Will save to negate the effect, and spell resistance (if any) applies.

Succotash heals everyone but Valerie is unable to take an action.
Murphy casts prayer and nicknames the demon. Drinker of foul tea! As he considers his foresight it warns him that the biggest threats will be physical or non-elemental, and that they can only cast their spells a few times at most. The Balor always explodes on death, and they lack ranged attack options effective against him, though they might have the mobility to chase him down.
Kezzem goes full attack on the Balor.
Tali goes for the wish teleportation trick again but it doesn’t work this time. With extra dimensional travel prevented here perhaps you are simply too deep in the fortress for the same trick to work twice. However her material components and spell slot are not wasted and she can reuse them for another wish if she desires.
Prudance casts Maze, but the spell fails just like the wish did.
Pressi sighs about the teleport wish and not being able to use the mansion spell. Recent evidence indicates that the mansion spell would also fail as it is extradimensional space.
Nikolai wonders if he is still blessed/prayered (yes and yes I think). The Balor died and returned so any effects cast on it before this round faded on it. Reverse gravity ignores SR and you saved vs the other spells.

The Drinker of Foul Tea attempts to Dominate Kezzem. Kezzem must make a DC 27 will save or fall under the control of the Demon and be ordered to stand there do nothing but make terrible puns. (OOC: no smiting, no attacking, no healing)

Glabrezu 2 is stunned. Glabrezu 5 moves to attack Nikolai, seeing right through his invisibility, but the monk's skill lets him easily avoid the lumbering demon’s attacks.

The other 3 Glabrezu attempt to hit the party with confusion spells
Nikolai/Valerie - 1 save vs DC 19 Will or be confused for 14 rounds (rolled 26 vs Nik SR)
Murphy / Kezzem / Succotash 3 saves vs DC 19 Will fail any and become confused
Pressi + Pru 2 saves vs DC 19 will save - fail either and you become confused

The Marilith cast blade barriers boxing the party in with only the side facing the fire portal and Glabezu open. Anyone attempting to move through the barrier takes 53 damage from the blades with a DC 23 reflex save allowed for half

Daemons?!

Tali casts Time Stop & gain four rounds of "Extra" time.

During the 1st round, Tali moves from position S27 by hovering over the ground and moving to position W26.

During the 2nd round,Tali casts Prismatic wall starting at position Y10 going to position Y21. The wall is 40 feet high or to the ceiling and 60 feet wide & the multicolored plane of light is facing the Demons.

During the 3rd round, Tali casts Prismatic wall again, starting at position Y21 and going to position AE21. The wall is 40 feet high or to the ceiling and 30 feet wide & the multicolored plane of light is facing the Demons.

During the 4th round & final round, Tali casts another Prismatic wall starting at position U10 and going to position U25. The wall is 40 feet high or to the ceiling and 80 feet wide, the multicolored plane of light is facing the Demons.

This leaves the Balor & Glabrezu #5 not boxed in with the Prismatic walls.

Pressi easily shakes off the two confusions (only a natural 1 can work).

"Careful on the Balor," Pressi warned Kezzem. "I'm not convinced that whatever brought him back is done with it. We might have to take out the creatures or the pillars first, so don't kill him yet. He needs at least another few rounds of hearing puns first."

(Pressi gives it some thought, Know Arcana 46)

She notes with pride that both spells did land, even if it is playing the odds. After what seemed like a lot of hunting through secondary spells, it was nice to know that she could debuff again. (With saves almost as insane as hers, so she understood it would still take some thought.)

Unfortunately, quicken was draining her high level spells, so she needed to think through how to get through this with any spells left.

But that's a rather moot point as she begins (full round action) to cast her Lesser Immortal Summons next to the fire portal (flanking Gla 2 with Kezzem).

(Reminder: the summons is a graven guardian, with a good aligned weapon.)

What are the vertical dimensions of the room? That is, how high is the ceiling above the floor? Is the ceiling flat, or curved? How high are the side platforms above the main floor? How high is the ceiling above the side platforms? Etc. :-)

Murphy is a scant few feet away from the prismatic wall. He may be just barely above the floor (his height is 32', though he may stretch out horizontally if the ceiling is too low to accommodate his height, in which case he is at platform level, yet draped in a way that a maralith cannot get beneath him. So there are two sides they may get relative to him, but not on opposite sides.

Nikolai is disappointed the stunned Glabrezu is behind a wall so he flurries against the one that isn’t and makes it stunned after hitting it 5 times.
Murphy checks the roof of the room (about 40 feet and square) and goes around the prismatic wall.

The Drinker of Foul Tea once again detonates as he dies. Everyone in the room takes 100 fire damage, DC 33 reflex for half.

Glabrezu 1 is blinded and waits a moment (how long until the blind wears off?)

Glabrezu 2, 3, & 4 are so tall they easily step up to the higher floor and move around the prismatic wall. Though they can’t reach the party they get in line of sight to all cast Unholy Blight. The 20 foot area affects Succotash, Tali, Pressi, and Pru. Each takes 21, 24, and 31 damage, will save 19 for half. On a failed save you are also sickened.

Glabrezu 5 - attacks Nikolai missing all 5 times

The Maraliths all attack Murphy (you said you were in melee range of them, they match your reach, but your way away from them on the map?). However none manage to penetrate the tough defenses of the elemental.

Pru realizes she forgot to make her Will saves last round, an adventuring faux pas she will now attempt to address. She rolls a 19 and a 25, which means we don't have to retcon her actions, so yay.

The Glabrezu are sill vulnerable to fire until the end of her turn, and yes, they also resist fire, and no, I don't know how that math works. But the Glabrezu have spread out, the stinkers, and now her husband is right in the middle of them so fireballs are a risky strategy.

Instead, she decides to target Glabrezu 2 with a Scorching Ray followed by a quickened Scorching Ray.

For the normal ray, SR 35. Three rays hit Touch AC 26, 29, and 33 for 20, 14, and 11 damage.

For the quickened ray, SR 29. Three rays hit Touch AC 25 and 21, and miss with a natural 1. Damage is 13 and 16.

"Sorry, Press, but my only options were stabbing him or not stabbing him. Still, it you have to admit, it was a pretty BALOR move for him to come back after I killed him the first time."

Kezzem uses his metamagic rod to cast quicken divine favor. He then full attacks Glabrezu 1. He's skipping two-weapon fighting this round. As a paladin, his weapons count as good even if he's not smiting.
