I didn't know the priests had bird men, lion men, giants and constructs in their order- DM Hugh | Asimov and Irony Thursday August 4th, 2022 11:45:09 PM
Asimov says, "Can't Kyria just say outside of town if asked? That is technically where this garden is right? So it isn't telling a lie right?"
Zeoll says he thought staying in the garden would be safer but if their host wants to lead he's okay with going into town.
Mundhi leaves an offering of fruits, veggies and spices for the fairies who eagerly start partaking as she tells them it was nice meeting them all.
The Twins remain skeptical of everything and don't eat any of Mundhi's food
Honor says she'll keep Kyria's secret but she doesn't like to lie so when people ask where Kyria met them what will they say Elron can tell the wind is blowing towards town but he's wary of the cold wind
Asimov suggests Kyria simply says "outside of town" which is technically true
Kyria says to Asimov and Honor, "If they ask me. I'm pretty good at playing hide and seek and going unnoticed when I want to be."
The party follows Kyria back to the town which seems to be large, active and quite nice from a distance, but as they approach they hear a guard trumpeting, and people eagerly approach in tired, worn-out looking throngs calling out things like "Thank heavens its the priests," "We're Saved," "Infierno will spare us," "The curse must be lifted" and one even remarks "I didn't know the priests had bird men, lion men, giants and constructs in their order"
One of the townsfolk approaches, a haggard woman in a patchwork tunic. She sees Honor's holy trappings and asks, "Have you come here to spare us from the terrible curse?"
You look around to find Kyria and sure enough in the noise and confusion of the townsfolk's approach she must have run off unnoticed.

Mundhi uses her smaller form to approach the townfolk and ask questions about the curse
Honor says that they came because they got lost or maybe they were led here by the gods either way could they tell more about the curse.
The Twins wonder about how they could be mistaken for priests then remember that priests in this world often wear armor and wonder if they could make a prank some day.
Elron remarks about the two times he was cursed by puppets and asks more about the curse as well.
Zeoll sings a song about heroes coming to help the town.
Asimov asks about the town sending for priests.
The villagers seem disappointed when Honor says she came because the party got lost. Someone calls out, "It isn't the priests merely travelers who got lost."
At the news of this some of the crowd starts to disperse and some remains. The patchwork tunic wearing woman says, "The curse is horrible. People go to sleep and they don't wake up, no matter how hard someone tries to waken them."
The woman says to Asimov, "Yes we sent for priests from the temple of infierno, Inquisitors who specialize in curses and demonic possessions."

There seems to be general murmurs of agreement around that sentiment.

Honor mentions there is an inn in town and suggests they secure accomodations before visiting Nin Gikuga

Zeoll says he's starting to be effected and looks around for signs of magic but doesn't find anything. He wants to look in on Nin Gikuga
Asimov is tired as well and agrees they should look in on Nin Gikuga
The party goes to visit Nin Gikuga. It is getting towards dusk as you come across her hut on the outskirts of town. You see a little girl skipping along nearby, happily. Upon further inspection you realize its Kyria. She sees you and goes to greet you but an old woman opens the door to hut and calls out, "Kyria, come back here! You know better than to talk to strangers! I don't want anything to happen to you, darling" Kyria's mother treats her with obvious affection but also obviously doesn't want to deal with the new characters who showed up at her property. She can be very mean.

"From what we've heard, that sounds like trouble for this house. If we were sent here by th' townsfolk, I'm sure th' inquisitors will be, too." Elron looks to see how defensible the yard might be.
Mundhildur Karadottir, Jotun singing giant (7'4" or 10'5" as needed) (Kim) AC 19 Touch 13 FF17 HP 61/69 d20+7=16 ; d20+7=8 ; d20+8=9 ; Wednesday August 17th, 2022 1:43:11 AM
Mundhildur makes the will save (16/15), thus does not feel at all sleepy.
She, however, is clueless on the official sense motive thing (8/32, nat 1). But she still knows that Kyria's mother should have more to tell them.
Mundhi does not feel that her promise to leave her alone has yet been triggered. However, it may be time to go see what all the hubbub is about.
For some reason, she is not yet fully aware of how sleepy several of her mates are - except for the ones who have already mentioned it (Perception: 9 - nat 1)
"Let's go meet the inquisitors. Someone want to stay here and work on figuring out a defensive perimeter for this place? Or talk Nin into taking her daughter and scooting to someplace that the inquisitors are unlikely to find them?" She gathers up her food, leaving out a carrot to nibble upon, and starts to head toward the crowd.
Mitch - The Twins HP 55/65 (11 nonlethal) AC 29/15/27 d20=5 ; Wednesday August 17th, 2022 7:35:04 AM
The Twins continue to feel tired (will 7). "We've met the lady." "Lets head back." "Once we see what the hubbub is about we can take a nap."
Honor Bright (Kathy) [AC 20; HP 31/50] Wednesday August 17th, 2022 1:55:29 PM
"I'll stay here for a minute, if you don't mind," Honor tells her friends. She is hoping she can simply persuade the inquisitors to leave this family alone, but there are some things she needs to look into first.
She uses her Detect Evil ability and begins scanning the area.

Asimov says, "I like the idea the twins suggested. Let's do that."
====================================
Elron suggests the inquisitors showing up is trouble for the house
Mundhi suggests that they go meet the inquisitors and suggests someone stay here to either set up a defensive perimeter or convince Nin Gikuga and Kyria to go someplace else where the Inquisitors won't find them.
The Twins say since they met the lady they should head back, see what the hubbub is about and then take a nap.
Honor volunteers to hang back, hoping she can convince the inquisitors to leave the family alone. She starts scanning for evil
Zeoll struggles to stay awake.
Asimov likes what the Twins suggested
Everyone minus Honor Highlight to display spoiler: {The inquisitors give their proclamation as Dusk settles. A stern looking older gentleman with a hooked nose wearing long black and purple robes with red and black epaulets at the shoulder and with two large rings on his right hand and a black and purple tricornered hat with a long red train clears his throat, pulls out a scroll and says, "Hear ye Hear ye. The village of Aeschlepios is officially under Infierno's protection persuant to the rites and sacred texts of our Holy Order and all aplicable privileges and obligations those entail! As such effective immediately nobody can leave here until this curse of the demons is lifted! Further instructions will be communicated at a later time! Infierno thanks you all for your cooperation!" That is all!"
The assembled crowd starts murmuring in response to the Inquisitor's proclamation. You distinctly hear someone remark, "I heard the Inquisitors normal way of dealing with a demon is to kill torture and burn..." Someone else replies, "Isn't that why the Power they worship is called Infierno, something to do with cleansing holy fire?" The townspeople begin to worriedly disperse to their homes presumably to try to get some rest for the night. Perhaps you should too? The inn beckons }

Mundhildur decides not to interact at this point with the inquisitors. Perhaps some of her party members will do so. She speaks with her party members. "Perhaps some of you look pretty tired. How about this? Why don't those of you who are feeling particularly sleepy go to the inn, and get your sleep. I'll come with you, to see what rooms we have. But then I plan to go and help out Honor. She and I can take turns watching, and spell each other off. If one of you wants to join me and her, then come along when I leave for the mother and girl's place. Just before I go, though, Asimov, do you have any of those healing things left? I'm still not feeling tip-top." (down by 8 hp) [I think Honor and the Twins are also down from full]

Mitch - The Twins HP 55/65 (11 nonlethal) AC 29/15/27 Thursday August 18th, 2022 8:10:08 AM
The Twins take an instant disliking to the head inquisitor. Something about his appearance reminds them of a man they once knew who was very abusive to his hunchback son. They decide to sleep on it and see what the morning brings.

Honor continues concentrating on her detection.

Elron doesn't like the look of these men, but the town did invite them. He doesn't see cause for a confrontation. For now, he agrees with Mundhildur that watching the vulnerable seems like the best course of action. He'll take a shift. As for sleeping, he'd feel safer doing that back in fairyland somehow. But he doubts he could remember the way, so the inn will have to do.
You know if you guys are really worried I could probably tell Irony to use his Stand Watch ability - DM Hugh | Asimov and Irony d8+7=13 ; d8=2 ; d8=1 ; d8=4 ; Friday August 19th, 2022 1:13:14 AM
Asimov says, "Can we go to the Inn now? You know if you guys are really worried I could probably tell Irony to use his Stand Watch ability to guard Nin Gikuga's hut instead of me and then we could all get some shut eye. Might not be a bad idea considering how rough that blizzard was. Also yes I have some medihalers left though not of the same potency I used earlier. I made some other new devices. Did I mention I can fly now? "
He takes one of his medihaler-lights out and Mundhi heals 13 hp
===============================
Mundhi holds off from interacting with the inquisitors at this time. She suggests that the folks who are tired could head to the Inn and either her or Honor or her, Honor and whoever could take watch guarding Nin Gikuga and daughter. She asks Asimov he has any more of his healing devices.
The Twins dislike the head inquisitor since they remind him of a man they knew who was abusive to his hunchback son. They decide to sleep on it and see what the morrow brings.
Honor continues to concentrate on her detection.
Elron doesn't like the look of these men, but the Town did invite them so he doesn't see cause for confrontation. He agrees that watching over Nin Gikuga and daughter is a good idea and is ready to take a shift.
Asimov offers to send Irony to guard the hut since the construct is immune to sleep and that way they could all rest and recover from the blizzard. He also obliges Mundhi with her healing request.
At the Inn the party finds enough open lodging to suit their needs should eveyone want a bed. They even have a large bed for Zeoll and two twin beds for the twins that can be pushed together. There is also a stall at the inn's stable with Bill's name on it should Zeoll wish for Bill to rest their for the night.
(OOC: who is staying at the Inn and sleeping and who is going to alternate sleeping / watching outside of Nin Gikuga's hut? Asimov did volunteer to send Irony by himself with the instructions to use his stand watch ability to guard the hut occupied by the girl and her mother)

Mundhildur makes her will save (on the nose 19/19).
She is happy to have Irony come along. "Thank you, Asimov, for healing and for your amazing construct!"
"Sure, Elron, if you want to join us on watch - how about this? Sleep a few hours on whatever fits as a roost for you at the inn, then come and join us. If one of us gets too tired, perhaps we can swap. Well, getting a bed over there."
She goes to join Honor, walking along with Irony. When they arrive, she asks the aasimar, "Everything all right? Say, on the morrow, it might be good for you to use your special detection ability to take a look at the Infierno folks. I don't know that they sit right with me."
She offers to take first watch with Irony, and suggests Honor get some rest. She has extra blankets and bedding, as usual, and lends her friend enough to keep her warm and comfortable. "Irony, if somehow both Honor and I fall asleep, try to wake me up if someone else who is not a member of our group shows up. Elron will come later." She hopes the iron man understands her.
Mitch - The Twins HP 55/65 (11 nonlethal) AC 29/15/27 d20=4 ; Friday August 19th, 2022 8:56:41 AM
The Twins have no interest in sleeping anywhere but the Inn and go straight to bed regardless of save.
Honor Bright (Kathy) [AC 20; HP 31/50] Friday August 19th, 2022 3:20:41 PM
Honor continues concentrating on her scan. She replies to Mundhildur, somewhat distracted. "I'm sure they're fine," she says of the inquisitors. "I'm just afraid of a misunderstanding. That's why I'm here. I'm not here to fight anybody; I'm here to persuade people to leave this family alone. If I need to."
Zeoll (AC20) | Bill the Camel (AC20) | Cayzle Friday August 19th, 2022 8:32:34 PM
Zeoll and Bill will bed down right in front of Nin Gikuga's hut. "Liontaurrs and camels sleep just fine on the grround," he declares.
He thanks Irony for taking the watch.

(will save = 16, fail)
Elron was ready to take a nap already, and suddenly feels even more tired. Like the Twins, he heads to the Inn. Unlike them, he uses the footboard as a roost. He could fight the feeling, but then he wouldn't be refreshed when it is his turn to take watch.
