Return to the Garden. Destroying the Demon. Kyria’s death, and possible rebirth
"How might the creature be 'put to rest'?" - DM Hugh | Asimov and Irony Monday October 3rd, 2022 11:42:11 PM
Asimov says, "Sounds like its time to end this then?"
Irony shrugs
====================================
The Twins suggest they best be off and try to remember where the girl went.
Elron tells the guard to help his comrades with the fallen and then they can go.
Honor asks for more details about the true endless life spell
Mundhi asks how the demon might be put to rest
Zeoll wonders if they should feel bad about putting down the inquisitor quite so hard considering the girl was possed by a demon or something but does not mention it out loud.
Asimov reckons it is time to end this and his mechanical minion just shrugs.
Nin says to The Twins, "Go to the garden. Remember that is where the temple ruins are located. The creature should be there if anywhere."
To Honor she says, "I don't think the spell worked as advertised in retrospect considering part of what we face now is not my daughter."
To Mundhi she says, "I would inflicting massive damage to the demon would outright destroy if it was real and not a dream."
Mitch - The Twins HP 48/65 AC 29/15/27 Tuesday October 4th, 2022 8:34:58 AM
The Twins now feel mildly guilty for fighting the inquisitors as it turns out they were right. The old lady and her child where guilty, though mass panic and burning is a bit extreme. They take solace in the fact that they didn't kill any of the inquisitors and head off to stop the demon.
Zeoll (AC20, HP55) | Bill the Camel (AC20, HP33) | Cayzle Tuesday October 4th, 2022 10:09:14 AM
Just before entering, Zeoll reads his scroll of Good Hope. It's got seven minutes, so hopefully that will suffice.
Each affected creature gains a +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls.
Mundhildur Karadottir, Jotun singing giant (7'4" or 10'5" as needed) (Kim) AC 19 Touch 13 FF17 HP 22/69 Tuesday October 4th, 2022 10:37:06 AM
As she sees her friends ready to immediately go into action, Mundhildur forestalls them (and asks Zeoll to hold off on the scroll reading) and says, "Wait. I am sorely injured. We go to face the demon now, likely I could die. Others of us too are injured. Can we not first attend to healing? Should we first get some rest?"
Honor Bright (Kathy) [AC 20; HP 50/50] d6=4 ; d6=5 ; d6=2 ; d6=4 ; Tuesday October 4th, 2022 3:57:53 PM
"We can heal some," Honor says. "Everybody gather round."
When she is within 30 feet of all her injured companions, Honor channels positive energy. Everybody heals 15.
SteveM - Elron | AC 23 (21 if raging), HP 64/64, DR 2/-- Tuesday October 4th, 2022 6:30:46 PM
Elron thinks he saw little Kyria disintegrated by the inquisitor, and what with him being dead now has no way of asking if that's what he did. So why are they going to look for her? On the other hand, if there is trouble at the temple, well they should go investigate that when everyone's recovered enough. And then there's the crowd who just made a human wall while the fight was going on. He's not altogether sure but concludes that any curse on this place is still here.
"Can we not first attend to healing?" - DM Hugh | Asimov and Irony 3d4=9 ; Tuesday October 4th, 2022 10:40:39 PM
Asimov gathers around with the others to get his health back up, though at that point he was only down 1 hp. He also uses his quick repair ability to patch Irony up a bit putting the golem at only down 2 hp.
He says, "It sounds like we must make haste to the garden then. Does anyone need additional healing beyond what Honor provided? I think I still have a medihaler or 2? Also with respect to good hope if the path to the garden is like the path we went on in the dream then that there is that final blind corner leading to the garden we could stop at and cast any spell to aid us like Zeoll's good hope"
===================================
The Twins feel mildly guilty for fighting the inquisitors since it turns out they were sort of right. They take solace in the fact that they didn't kill any of the inquisitors and head off to stop the demon.
Zeoll prepares to read his scroll of good hope but Mundhi forestalls him.
Mundhi suggests they get some healing and perhaps a rest before running off to fight the demon.
Honor channels positive energy to heal everyone 15 hp
Elron thinks he saw Kyria disintegrated by the inquisitor but since he is dead now there is no way of asking what happened. He figures the curse is still active and figures they should investigate the temple when every body is recovered enough.
Asimov gathers around with the others to receive Honor's healing and then patchers Irony up a bit. He offers his few remaining medihalers if anyone needs them otherwise he suggests they regroup at the final blind corner on the path to the garden to cast any spells that could give them an edge.
The party takes a quick break to discuss healing and strategy. Without the inquisition to egg them on the townfolk quickly disperse just as spooked by the party and the witch as they are of any demon. Do you want to do anything else before heading out?
SteveM - Elron | AC 23 (21 if raging), HP 64/64, DR 2/-- Tuesday October 4th, 2022 11:55:36 PM
Mundhi and the Twins are still injured, and Elron defers to their wishes on whether to go now. In his dream the demon was a pretty tough opponent.
Mitch - The Twins HP 63/65 AC 29/15/27 Wednesday October 5th, 2022 7:16:15 AM
Honor's healing does plenty for the Twins, they are ready to go and in fact leading the charge.

Zeoll will read the scroll of Good Hope just before the party enters. But before that, he cures Mundhi for 17 more hp.
Honor Bright (Kathy) [AC 20; HP 50/50] Wednesday October 5th, 2022 5:39:24 PM
"I would really prefer to save the rest of my healing abilities for the battlefield," Honor says. "Are we sufficiently recovered?"
"Are we sufficiently recovered?" - DM Hugh | Asimov and Irony d8=5 ; d8=5 ; Wednesday October 5th, 2022 10:52:41 PM
Asimov uses a medihaler medium to heal Mundhi another 17 damage.
Zeoll cures Mundhi for 17 more hp and is ready to read the scroll of good hope at that clearing before the blind curve
Honor says she would prefer to save the rest of her healing for the battle field and asks if they are sufficiently recovered.
Asimov heals Mundhi for 17 more hp and Irony is ready to go
Presumably the party continues on to the last blind covered clearing before the blind corner leading to the garden.
This is where Zeoll casts Good Hope.
(OOC: last call for buffs; sorry to slow things down but there is no Mundhi post and Mundhi called for healing)

"Thank you Honor, Zeoll, and Asimov. I feel much refreshed." She looks good, too.
She accompanies the party into the area. In one hand is a stone, in the other her +1 longspear.
Honor Bright (Kathy) [AC 20; HP 50/50] Thursday October 6th, 2022 6:31:24 PM
Since the others already have weapons out, Honor draws Virtue.
SteveM - Elron | AC 23 (21 if raging), HP 64/64, DR 2/-- Thursday October 6th, 2022 8:55:14 PM
Elron is looking forward to this -- mostly because Zeoll's spell means he might manage to hurt a demon.
Zeoll (AC20, HP55) | Bill the Camel (AC20, HP33) | Cayzle d20+16=17 ; Thursday October 6th, 2022 11:28:58 PM
The round before reading the scroll, Zeoll uses his summoning ability:
Fey Friend: As a spell-like ability, you use Planar Ally spells to call fey folk and magical beasts. This SLA takes one full round of singing to activate; there is no gold cost; and the duration is one minute per character level. The creature only appears if it likes your song: make a Perform (Sing) check vs DC20 + HD called. At level 5, use as Lesser Planar Ally, 1/day.
For his perform check, Zeoll rolls a nat 1, a 17. No fey is summoned. THe ability is wasted for the day.
THEN Zeoll reads the scroll of Good Hope just before the party enters.
Oh well.
"Thank you Honor, Zeoll, and Asimov. I feel much refreshed." - DM Hugh | Asimov and Irony Friday October 7th, 2022 1:08:27 AM
Asimov draws his repeating crossbow.
Irony too is ready to set off.
========================
The twins wait greatsword at the ready.
Mundhi thanks the party then is ready with her spear and stone
Honor draws Virtue
Elron is looking forward to this
Zeoll tries to summon a fey friend only to see the ability fizzle before using his scroll
Asimov draws his crossbow and Irony is ready too.
When they get to the garden at dawn, everything is as beautiful as ever…but it seems somehow a false truth. Also something seems slightly different than when you remember from your previous ventures waking and dreaming. Near the central tree sits a rather large stone that you don't remember.
Kyria is sitting there crying near the tree and the stone. The faeries that surround her seem of two minds. Some seem to be trying to comfort her, others are telling her that they all hate her, that she’ll never be happy again.
When the faeries see the players entering, the comforting ones (by far the minority) say, “Here, they come to help you!” The girl looks up…and the mean faeries seem to become monstrous, growing.
Suddenly, the phantasmal dream creature appears, warping around the tree, which becomes as ugly and disgusting as the demon, it also shrinks. It grasps the girl and begins pulling her over to an altar; that strange stone by the tree transformed into stone table just as surely as the tree became the demon.
You have the initiative
(OOC: I'll make a map another day but for now these are the players: The demon which is pulling Kyria to the altar and 5 sized small skitterdarks from the transformed mean fairies(the ones you fought earlier were tiny; these ones seem bigger, stronger but just as mean))

Elron starts to attack the nearest foe but then remembers that these things resist damage pretty good and aren't hurt by the electricity in his whappin' stick. He'd better try to out-think them.
Using the magic of his hat, he changes his appearance to a reasonable likeness of Kyria.-- as close as he can manage, anyways. Then he hops around saying in his undisguised, booming baritone, "Yo, skittle-darks! Look here, I've -- I say, I've escaped!"
He's unsure enough of this tactic to get out his whuppin' stick as he hops, but it just looks like a child's toy.
Using hat of disguise -- effect Good Hope: a +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls Rage -- 9/12 used whappin' stick = monk weapon; whuppin' stick = greatclub

Does it look like she could grab Kyria to pull her away from the demon?
Irony runs in to join the fray with the rest of the team but it too misses.

"NO!" bellows the Jotun as the last moving demonic critter attacks her. She answers back. If a 5 foot shift is enough to flank this one with someone, she does so. If not, then her rolls are: AC 17 with 13-5=8 hp; AC 20 with 9-5=4 hp; AC 19 with 15-5=10 hp. If flanking is accomplished, then up the ACs hit to 19, 22, 21. "Return to the flames!"
She does try to see how the girl is doing. "Someone check on Kyria!"
Lots of exclamations... ---------- [Edit: Fixed hp in header - Kim]

Zeoll lets his pals take care of the last monster. He makes doubly sure that the ropes are well knotted (hands, legs, and gagged because verbal activations), and then hoists his captive onto Bill's back.
Zeoll looks over the captive closely. [OOC: What even *IS* this thing? What does it look like? What type of creature is it? Does it have clothes? Is it intelligent? Can it speak? How was it attacking ... with weapons?
Raw Int check for knowledge, with +2 bard bonus and +2 good hope ... rolled a nat 1, LOL.
Zeoll casts a Message and asks his friends quietly, "Anyone know what these arre?"
Then he casts Detect Magic on the corpses, especially the demon's, as well as the captive.
He explains, quietly, "I'm thinking that a Charrm Monsterr spell lasts morre than a week when I cast it. This could be a new pal of mine!"

"Anyone know what these arre?" - DM Hugh | Asimov and Irony d20+7=17 ; Sunday October 16th, 2022 10:56:45 PM
Asimov goes to help Zeoll with his captive.

=======================
Mundhi, Elron and The Twins finish off the final skitterdark still up before Mundhi rushes to Kyria where she fell.
Zeoll and Asimov investigate the wemic's captive and comes to realization that it is a giant version (meaning size small) of the tiny demons that attacked with the Kyria demon in the dream. It has sharp claws that pulse with negative energy and gnashing teeth.
Kyria lay dying, poisoned by the demon's spur as her mother and others from the village arrive after the combat.

"Kyria - she's been poisoned!" Mundhildur exclaims. She pulls out her healing kit and gets to work on the girl. Skill: Healing: 12.
Sadly, her skills are likely not adequate to deal with the toxin from demon spur. "Help. She needs better help than I can provide..." She appeals to her companions to do what they are able.

The Twins do their best to play crowd control, keeping the bystanders from crowding the healers.
Zeoll (AC21, HP46of55) | Bill the Camel (AC21, HP33) | Cayzle Monday October 17th, 2022 12:33:15 PM
Zeoll looks on sadly as the poison takes effect.
"Alas, therre is naught I can do to help," he mourns.
SteveM - Elron | AC 23 (21 if raging), HP 51/64, DR 2/-- Monday October 17th, 2022 7:48:10 PM "Folks, I need to you listen, I say, listen up!" Elron addresses the crowd."Is there anyone in town who can cure someone who's been poisoned?" He hopes Nin Gikuga will be able to, not really trusting the others to care about Kyria after seeing or hearing about the demon.

"Oh, wait - I forgot something." Mundhildur reaches into her bag and pulls out a vial. "It is antitoxin."
It should have been mentioned earlier that, had the talon still been embedded in Kyria's flesh, Mundhi would have removed it, and washed the area with water or alcohol.
If, after administering the liquid antitoxin through the girl's mouth, she gains enough insight to try an additional approach to helping her out, I'll roll another healing check, with another use of her healing kit - but will await our DM's counsel before proceeding.
