Tsak Rezar (Damien) AC22(22) (T15/F14) 113/113 HP| Falchion +4 2D4+3|Crossbow1 1D8+1 Status:Inspired, Hasted
Monday February 13th, 2023 2:36:34 AM

Tsak is pretty excited. There is the whiff of further travel and new horizons in Dirty City, plus the strong possibility of a home to come back to on the Isle that was liberated from Grovas. It's a heady mix to finally feel like he belongs.

His usual nature asserts itself and he is happy just to let everything happen without feeling the need to comment on it. However he feels very present and is proud of the hero he's become. Who knew a galley slave could come to this...

Mak(JamesM)(111/111)|AC:38AO/30/20T/--FF|CMD 35|Rapier +1|23/-/-/-/-|(AG,KN,*HY,WN,PS,WF,WS,AD)**|1d6+13+2d6(Evil)(15)x2))  d20+13=26 ;

Mak attended the celebration, but offered only the following when asked. "We watch and protect as needed my Taur friends and when required we exact justice on those that commit crimes against the peoples of the isles. The Taur Isles are our home and we want it as safe as you do. To that purpose we are looking at establishing a residence here." He said as he brushed his WLA badge, drawing confidence from his training within the organization.

Amazingly Mak's diplomatic tones were once more successful.

Falco stands as proud as he can, chest puffed out. He listens to what is being said and only pauses at the mention of the dragosn. 'Grovas sister never to return? Let us hope this is true.' He stays silent as the others talk, honestly daydreaming a little about their future base an sending for his family to live there. In the world of the large folk some little halflings could do quite well.

DM Mark - Celebrate Good Times, Come On!
Monday February 13th, 2023 11:39:39 AM

Rolth answers the assembled Taurs with a vague reference to following up on something found in the dragon’s lair, and asks the leaders if they have any counsel in this.
Ayotnom says the Petals are headed to Dirt City to find whomever gave a book about undead to Grovas.
Kiwina looks over the crowd as the Petals parade through town. He sees several taur faces that are familiar, but one catches his eye that he did not expect to see - he sees the old human warrior cleric Nyloth standing in the crowd. Nyloth nods as the Petals pass. At the ceremony, he wonders why Harkin says Ledra will never return. Kiwina reassures the crowd that the Petals will always work for the good of the tauric isles.
Tsak is excited about what the future holds, and is proud of how far he’s come from his days as a slave scrubbing the deck of a ship.
Mak speaks of watching and protecting - and enacting justice against those that would harm the isles.
Falco is proud to stand with his friends. He thinks ahead to what the Petals might do next. He even considers bringing his family out if the Petals build a base of operations.

A couple of the Petals wonder at Harkin’s assertion that Ledra left, never to return. How could he know that? How could he make such a promise?

Sense Motive DC 17:Highlight to display spoiler: {You notice that as Harkin says this, there are some nods and smiles, and a slight sense of relief in the crowd at Harkin’s reassurances. Word had spread that there was another dragon, and there was some anxiety about this fact. You gain a new found respect for the burden of a leader.}

The ceremony quickly transitions into a citywide celebration. The liontaur clan chiefs along with the centaur dignitaries and the Purple Duke and his entourage are hosting a fairly lavish dinner event, and they invite the Petals. This is quite pleasant, and those in attendance are indeed interested in what the Petals plan to do with the dragon’s old lair, as well as where they are headed next. This dinner event does not go as late as some other celebrations across town.

Alternatively, there is no shortage of folk that seem interested in spending time with the Petals, so each of you can celebrate as you wish. And there are more than just taurs here - there are some dwarven crafts people, a few elven merchants and traders, some badger beastfolk that seem to have recently arrived on a ship seeking to make their own inroads trading with the taur isles. There are others as well. These celebrations go late into the night.

And of course the seemingly single status of the Petals makes them the subject of advances from a number of folk.

Eventually the Petals head off to bed however they do so, and wake after a good night’s sleep. Which may mean they wake rather late in the morning. The city is relatively quiet after such a busy night, but the sky is clear with the promise of a new day, and new adventures ahead.

What now?

Elyas (Ben A.) (92/92 HP | AC: 19; Touch:14; Flat: 16; CMD:15) | Status: mage armor  d20+12=25 ;
Monday February 13th, 2023 11:53:06 AM

Elyas arrives slightly late to the event, but in time to be introduced to the crowd. He is dressed in much fancier clothes than anyone here has ever seen him in, with a long green overcoat with gold trim. He looks more like a wizard than normal, and for once wears some of the trappings of his craft more openly. wands and a rod are visible, along with component pouches and a scroll case. He does not wear a pointy hat though. That would just be silly.

He almost makes a comment about not having any real information about Ledra or the odds of her return, but catches that Harkin is likely speaking to allay fears without having to be 100% factual. (sense motive = 25). He decides to just not say anything

he enjoys the celebration, eating and drinking and socializing until quite late at night. He wakes only slightly later than usual, still going through his normal daily routine.

Mak(JamesM)(111/111)|AC:38AO/30/20T/--FF|CMD 35|Rapier +1|23/-/-/-/-|(AG,KN,*HY,WN,PS,WF,WS,AD)**|1d6+13+2d6(Evil)(15)x2))  d20+10=16 ;

Mak wondered how Harkin knew Ledra wasn't a threat, but decided that if the leader proved to be wrong it was on him. He'd not confirm such to others if asked directly about it, but he'd also be careful to not incite people against the leader so he remained silent on the subject. At the dinner Mak enjoyed the company of the petals and the occasional rubbing of shoulders with the nobility, but he was clearly not one of THOSE nobles that enjoyed such things.

"My brother, that buggered son of a begonia, got me promoted Tsak. Makes me want to go back to Aisildur and take down the rest of the vine people left behind and stab Ga'al until he's left the Wold and fears to return because I'll stab him again. At least that Domi/Imod fellow looks for willing followers....as deluded as they are." he finished quietly so as not to be overheard by Rolth or those nearby.

Wilford Grimly(Matt S.) (HP:106/106- AC: 26; Touch: 15; Flat: 27; CMD: 23)  d20+9=26 ; d20+5=18 ;
Monday February 13th, 2023 4:23:28 PM

Wil headed down in training when he eventually returned to the group refreshed and seemed to have himself in order again. "Nothing like a little 24-hour training time to make the voices go away," he says to anyone listening. He tries his best to pretend the incident the other day never happened.
"So Ledra may be somewhere around us but if she is not going to be a threat should we worry? We will be gone for a few days/weeks I imagine. Can the security forces handle it if she comes back?"
"In other news been working on my Shadowdancer moves" and starts "shadow dancing" (Dance: 18 - I guess that isn't bad)

Rolth Niheow (BatMark) (114/114 HP | AC: 21; Touch: 14; CMD: 27
Monday February 13th, 2023 5:58:56 PM

Rolth looks up Froylot after the hubbub dies down. He is curious what the sage might know about the book that he didn't want to talk about more openly, or that might help us keep it safe from evildoers. He also asks what Froylot knows about Dirt City and the mysterious contact that was revealed in the note. Similarly, is there any force for good hidden in that den of villainy that we might be able to contact?

Tsak Rezar (Damien) AC22(22) (T15/F14) 113/113 HP| Falchion +4 2D4+3|Crossbow1 1D8+1 Status:Inspired, Hasted
Monday February 13th, 2023 7:23:14 PM

Tsak makes it thru the speeches, the back slapping and hand shaking. His smile stays (mostly) genuine and he only grits his teeth a few times.
At Mak's pronouncement he solemly tells him he'll be missed and to have a good trip before turning to Elyas to admire his new clothes. When he turns back a minute or two later he seems surprised the crusty fighter is still there.

Monday February 13th, 2023 9:13:42 PM

As the celebration transitions, Kiwina finds himself wandering to the part.of town he is most comfortable with -- the waterfront. He grows less "styled" and more comfortable as he does so, tucking the fancy necklace in his pack. As usual, he ends up back at the ship for the night.

Not even the brief appearance of Nyloth is going to ruin this day.

DM Mark - Celebrate Good Times, Come On!
Tuesday February 14th, 2023 1:26:11 AM

Elyas is wearing much nicer clothing than he usually does and completes the look with his magic equipment, looking every bit like the powerful mage he is. He enjoys the evening and wakes refreshed.
Mak also enjoys the evening. He tell Tsak he’d like to go back to Asildur and put an end to Ga’al. He also shares some private thoughts about Domi with Tsak.
Wil enjoys his time training. He does some shadow dancing (though the DM is left wondering what that means.)
Rolth checks in with Froylot asking him what he may know about the book of necromancy and the person mentioned in the note.
Tsak wishes Mak well and admires Elyas new clothing.
Kiwina spends some of the evening near the Waterfront, away from the crowds.
Ayotnom enjoys the evening, and even tries to keep up with Wil’s shadow dancing.

Those staying on the Rose can see that Ramsey continues to do an excellent job getting the ship provisioned and in order. He asks Captain Kiwina if he has any special orders or requirements. He also asks where the ship may be headed next? He asks about the Island where the Petals killed the dragon - is that the next destination? Should he lay in any supplies for a stay there?

In the morning the next day, a familiar face knocks at the door of the lodging where most of the Petals are staying in town. Answering the door, you see the grizzled warrior-priest Nyloth. He wears traveling clothes and a chain shirt. A sword hangs at his hip. He smiles as he says, [b]”I bring you greetings in the name of Domi. I see the Petals have done well, and have earned the gratitude of the leaders of the Taurs. I am happy for you. As you have grown in power, your roles as heroes have taken you beyond the tauric isles. If the tales are to be believed, heroes such as yourselves are often drawn far from their homes to confront evils in the Wold. I have no other words of wisdom for you, nor any specific message from my god. I merely wanted to pay my respects as another mortal in the Wold, and let you know that I wish you well in all you do.” And with that, he bids the Petals farewell unless they seek to keep him there a while.

—-----------------------------------
Froylot tells Rolth that he knows nothing about the symbol that appeared in both the note and book. The note instructed Grovas to contact Nevras Canthil in Dirt City, but he knows little about Dirt City and nothing about Nevras Canthil. Since Rolth asked for his help, he will offer to contact the Sage’s Guild about this, but needs to return to Frog Hollow to do so.

Assuming some or all of the party accompany Froylot back to Frog Hollow, he goes to his office. He writes a note asking for information about the strange symbol. Are there other questions the Petals would like him to include in his query to the Sages Guild?

The day after the celebration Mak was back in his adventuring gear with his black armor, purple and gold cape and tabard and what looked like a mismatched pair of dueling gloves. The one on his right hand seemed to have fancier stitching while the left seemed a more normal one meant for protecting one from ropes and small cuts. Mak's scabbard was also empty as well and his heirloom rapier was not visible though his bow was slung over one shoulder and his quiver over the other.

In his pack he'd safely packed away all the ceremonial items in an oiled leather pouch to protect them from the elements.

Otherwise Mak worked Elmer each day to give the horse some exercise and attention as he practiced his riding skills both with sword and bow as he passed the time until their departure for Dirt City. In the evening he tried to find out as much about Dirt City as he could that he didn't already know by reputation.

Wil is happy to have a dancing partner but disagrees he is a better dancer then Ayotnom and laughs.
(OOC: Looks like Shadow Dancing is an Andy Gibbs song... lol)

Wil wakes with a pounding head to the knocking of the door.
He is curious regarding Nevras Canthil in Dirt City, having grown up in Dirt City he wonders if he knows that name. (Local: 18)
He also answers questions about Dirt City to anyone that asks

"I don't think we will get much more info about Nevras Canthil in this area, we likely will need to get to dirt City and see where we can go from there. Wil, perhaps you can help us get in touch with some people in town that can get us the information we need.

If nothing else I can try to pose as a wizard interested in learning more about these rituals we found, but we no longer have the book and I am not able to cast even simple necromancy spells...

Ayotnom Ogini Hugh C 87/87 | AC : 25; Touch 19; Flat 19 CMD 28(30 vs Trip, Grapple or Disarm)
Tuesday February 14th, 2023 8:21:03 PM

Ayotnom says, "Although most of my training is martial in nature I have had some arcane schooling as a universalist wizard. I can even cast a few low level necromancy spells. The question is could I bluff my way as one wanting to know more about these rituals?"

Rolth Niheow (BatMark) (114/114 HP | AC: 21; Touch: 14; CMD: 27
Tuesday February 14th, 2023 9:02:43 PM

As far as the Sages Guild, Rolth suggests that Froylot ask about Nevras Canthil, and possible underground allies in Dirt City that might help us without coming to the attention of the local robber barons. He assumes that we can sail by Froylot's village on the trip to Dirt City, and recalls that the sage has some sort of magical tube message system that allows him to get answers almost immediately.

As far as bluffing our way into Canthil's presence, once we are safely aboard the Rose, Rolth suggests that the easiest way would be to pretend to be Grovas or Ledra in polymorphed form. It would be natural for either to show up there, Grovas to learn more as promised, and Ledra could be looking for magical means to exact revenge upon the Petals. Others could be a mercenary company hired by Grovas, also suitably disguised, of course.

Kiwina (Steve M) 61/131 HP | Current AC:23 or 27 vs AoO | HeP: 2 | Status: none ! Swim 60'
Tuesday February 14th, 2023 10:15:47 PM

Kiwina tells Ramsey that the next trip may be a long one, as it seems they will head to Dirt City. And if not, then a stay at Unity Island is most likely. So, yes, he should provision well.

Tsak Rezar (Damien) AC22(22) (T15/F14) 113/113 HP| Falchion +4 2D4+3|Crossbow1 1D8+1 Status:Inspired, Hasted
Tuesday February 14th, 2023 11:53:22 PM

Tsak joins the discussion regarding a trip to Dirt City.
He is extremely dubious of the plan to impersonate either of the dragons. They simply don't know enough about them to pass any reasonable test. Posing as a mercenary company could work, until people find out the dragon is dead, then things could get shady? And their renown may well work against them too. Not knowing Ledra's whereabouts and what she may be up to makes all this fraught with peril, but also enough mystery that the petals might sneak thru the cracks.

He floats the idea of becoming a trade delegation representing the Taur Isles to try to increase trade with Dirt City. From what he has heard the merchants in the city are not only one of the more honest parties but also quite powerful. Getting them onside as well as continuing to help the Taur Isles could be a good start. We have a ship and enough gold to buy a cargo of Taur goods to take with us, any profit can be shared back with the Isles and assist with their base on InsertNameHere Isle. Subtle enquiries could then be made regarding the Canthril bloke.
