As Randolf, the girls, and the remains of the others start off, Manolo runs up and asks the girls a few more clarifying questions: " Tell me, how did she look? Was her skin pale white, like the color of the moonlight? Long and beautiful brown hair? and piercing golden eyes?"
Randolf stops the wagon and looks at Manolo strangely. The girls look at each other, then at Manolo. The older one nods her head. "When she walked out of the woods she was beautiful. Her skin was the color of cream, her hair was brown but done up real nice. She was wearing a dress that mama would never have worn, it, she, well she was almost naked but in a dress. We didn't see her eye color. When she changed, her eyes were like coals, he hair was still brown, but it was full of, stuff. Her dress stayed the same, it was gross to look at her. The men, they, wouldn't stop staring at her."
Torry and Gnubert both agree that evil, in more than one way was committed here in the glade, and that both are ready to "Move out after their prey!"
Ash agrees that due to the "evil present" the group needed to "extinguish it!"
Loryn shares what the old storyteller had shared about the witches' tale. As he is talking, he takes notice of where they are, and where they path is leading. "The old woman, when she mentioned the Frozen Chapel, she said it was in the foothills somewhere in the direction of the trail" Manolo agrees with Loryn on the story and the direction that had been shared
Once Manolo was done with the girls, Drack approached and Randolf and shared that "due to the runes, and the possibility of them turning to undead, burning them might be better than burying them." Randolf looks to the paladin, "That was my thought, which is hard to do as tradition is to bury family with family, but I see your point."

Ash was able to discern the hag's trail from the runes ... maybe their purpose was just that; to compel children, with simpler minds, ta follow the same trail." He turns to watch the wagon roll away, "An' there they go, back ta Windhorn."
"Best be off after the other youngin's," Mortimer asserts, "We can consecrate the camp on the way back. Will help dress the wounds of this ordeal, yeah."

Part of the supplies provided would have been personal/one-person tents, and spare blankets, as it can get cold at these heights.

For her part though, her main focus was on the trail that had been left and being vigilant for danger. She leant forward in the saddle and whispered in her horse's ear. "Look out for danger, Spot." The speculation she left to others. All she could do was press on and try to ensure that they arrived at their quarry in peak condition to effect the rescue and castigate those that had perpetrated such vile evil. It was what Sacred dancers were meant to do.

The party follows the trail for several hours. At first the group of goblins and prisoners seems very disorganized, with people walking all over the place. You come to wider spot on the game trail you've been following, and can tell that whoever was walking this way took a break here, due to the smell of a slit trench, and food crumbles. After moving away from the smell, y'all take a short break. The elevation is beginning to rise, and you all notice the change in air and the pressure in your ears.
After a few more hours, around 4pm, the seven of you ride into a clearing...

60' away from the edge you entered is a large stone block. It is black in color, and there is something on it. It's easy to see it's a body. There also looks like there is something, or several somethings on the block with the body.

Torryn noticed the lack of normal sound. She dismounted and told Spot to stay back. She knew that Spot was brave, but this was no place for an animal not accustomed to battle. She then invoked her Fey Armour (Mage Armour). With her magical protection in place, she advanced, bow in hand. She lightly nocked an arrow, carefully listening as she did. The body on the rock was disturbing enough. That there were 'things' near it was worrying.

Like several others, Loryn notes the stillness of the scene and as he dismounts, the gnome comments on it. Mortimer senses the sapping of life and vitality in the area. The entropic qualities of mortality is something he is quite familiar with. The area's natural order devolving into chaos was definitely in an advanced state.
After he dismounts, he notices his own vitality had diminished since they rode up on the first camp. (ooc: I'm assuming it's been 6 hours since they encountered the original camp.) So he empowers himself with the forces of unlife once again. He also invokes a simple divination to detect magical auras.

Gnubert rubs his holy symbol as he surveys the scene. The body on the altar doesn't look right, there's something about it that sets the hairs on the back of the neck standing straight up.
Ash determines that this scene is a trap, however a general glance doesn't lead to anything other than the altar and body.

OOC: I’ve been mulling this over for two hours, so here’s what I’m gonna do
Detecting Magic – Drack, Torry, Mortimer, Loryn – The altar makes you wants to weep, or run screaming from the clearing.
Drack has drawn his sword, and Ash has a wand at the ready.
The body – it has been expertly skinned … that skin is missing. There is no blood on the body, nor in it, nor on the altar.
Mortimer determines that the seven items are necromantic in nature. Highlight to display spoiler: { The necromantic magic has been used to generate unlife, in some way or another, these things ‘read’ as undead. }
Gnubert, who has his holy symbol out, has moved up within 10’ of the altar can see that the seven objects are hand stitched dolls, each one looks like a party member. As his holy symbol flashes with power, the dolls all stand up … then they all begin singing, and it’s not pleasant

Now we'll make morsels of you!
The clearing suddenly explodes into tearing noises – Gnubert, Drack, Mortimer, Manolo, Ash, and Loryn are caught in a deluge of razor-sharp wooden splinters

Torry is able to escape being hit as her friends seem to absorb all of the splinters – what she sees are two figures which have stepped out of the two dying trees on either side of the party

Torryn quickly invoked further Fey Magic and summoned her Fey Shield. (Shield) A ghostly screen of transparent falling leaves appeared in front of her. She noted the position of the attackers.
"Drack! Take one! I'll take the other!" She called with unusual volume. It was rare indeed that Torryn raised her voice. Yet the horror of the scene before her had mad her blood boil. These things would not be hurting anyone else; of that she was determinedly certain.

Trees exploding unexpectedly cause Drack not to react as he would in battle, and he takes the full brunt of it.(reflex save 10). Disgusted by what he has seen so far, he relies on his faith in Domi to look over them, and help this vile evil be destroyed.
Drack takes a move towards the one by the altar and takes a swing.(hits ac 20 and 23 for 15 and 15damage)(Correction. I moved, so only the first swing and first damage count)
"I got this one Torry. You get the other. It's clobbering time."

A choir of dismal moans blare from his slack-jawed mouth. There would be tears streaming from his eyes if he had the ability to cry; that well had gone dry long, long ago.
With sudden explosion of the surrounding trees, his eyes go wide as instinct takes over (Reflex: 27, half damage.). He spins and flips backward with the spray of wooden chunks and splinters. Upon landing, he fights to regain his composure. Mortimer is no stranger to the gloom of death and the pain from his wounds only intensifies his resolve (Will: 25.)

Upon everything that just happened, Torry directs Drack to "Take one, and I'll take the other" Torry then summons a ghostly shield to protect herself
Loryn recoils from the altar and its' inhabitants, and following the splinters follows up with a spell of his own ... an area around the wooden enemy explodes in a burst of glittering dust ... The wooden thing shakes its' head, and growls, which sounds like ripping wood
Drack agrees with Torry's directions, and attacks the wooden thing in front of him, his blow strikes but feels lessened in some way
Mortimer does some cool moves and avoids most of the splinters, then prepares himself for actions (holding actions)
Gnubert ducks the wooden splinters, and then uses his mace to smack one of the dolls off the altar like a circus game ... the doll, his own, flies off the altar several feet, and then begins to disintigrate on the ground
Manolo also does some awesome dodging, parrying, spinning, and flipping and ends up behind the wooden enemy, without it noticing, which places him at the edge of the Glitterdust spell ... He's 10' behind the beastie, unless he wants to be closer then you'd have to roll against Gnuberts' Glitterdust spell
Mortimer decides on an action, and he blasts himself (well his doll) off the altar ... by the time it hits the ground, its a pile of refuse
Ash, considering his options, cast a spell to make his friends faster By my math/use of a ruler, the entire party is caught in the spell ... as Drack is the furthest at 25' from Ash, as is Manolo

It then sailed high overhead to plop down harmlessly nowhere near her intended target. 'Great, maybe I don't have it.' She muttered ruefully. That was not part of the plan. Now she could only trust to her dancing and her magical defences.

Mortimer is happy to see the singing doll, in his likeness, fall apart into its various components. However he then feels the thud of something behind him. He spins around and his reaction is, "Sticks an' Twigs?!" Mortimer doesn't know what to make of these creatures attacking Loryn and Drack.

His indecisiveness is broken by the sting of Gnubert's healing. He winces in pain and gives the gnome a thankful thumbs up.
Since Drack is alone with the beast, he decides to give the paladin some help. Mortimer speaks words of power and a crackling and coruscating ray springs forth from his hand and slams into the creature.
(Mortimer casts Ray of Exhaustion at the Tree Monster with Drack. Hit Ranged Touch AC: 26. Fortitude Save: 17 vs. Exhausted condition: Half Speed, Can't Run or Charge, -6 penalty to Str. and Dex. Gnubert, seeing his friends are in trouble, moves and then channels health, targetting everyone but Manolo, who is behind on of the critters [everyone is healed for ... 14 pts]
Critter 1: Torry fires a fiery arrow at it, and the arrow ends up smouldering in the grass
Ash "Apzay's" the wooden creature, but the electrical attack doesn't seem to faze it
Critter 2: Loryn, blinking and surveying the scene, turns and fires off several magical bolts which slam into the critter fighting Drack, for 9 damage
Drack uses his healing ability to return 18 health, plus the 14 from Gnubert is 32 health returned. Drack then swings and connects on the critter
Mortimer dips into his magics and fires off a dark and crackling beam ... which slams into the wooden critter, causing it to shake it's head, but it shows no negative effects from the ray
Critter 1 - Manolo gets off an Attack of Opportunity when the Critter moves away from him and towards Manolo's friends, then on his "normal" turn he hits once with a possible crit, and then misses on his second blow

Mortimer receives a massive blow that nearly takes his head off. Suddenly memories of reading about golems from large, dusty tombs flash across his mind. Another memory has him suturing mounds of dead flesh together ... though he doesn't recognize the hands doing the stitching.
Not hearing Ash's revelation, Mortimer declares, "Oye, I thinks these buggers are golems, yeah!"
He continues to slash at the wood golem in front of him.

Ok, so here's how I see this playing out as the fireball spell takes longer to cast than the folks attacking
Manolo had moves up to attack Wood Golem 1, striking it with a savage blow
Torry slams an arrow into the wood golem as well, causing it to flinch
Drack slams Wood Golem 2 for some severe damage, and it drops to the ground in front of him
Mortimer caught it on the way down, but his blows didn't seem to scratch it
Ash's spell then goes off, and with a WHOOSH of fire. Golem 2, who's on the ground, sizzles and pops and the begins to smoulder. Wood Golem 1 tries to throw itself out of the way, but the flames lick at it hungrily ... and it drops to a heap on the ground, it is smouldering as well
Loryn, who had held their action, can now act, as can Gnubert
Wood Critter: AC 19 Golem 1: Dead, and smouldering Golem 2: Dead, and smouldering

OOC/Side Request ... while we're only halfway through this module at this point, I'm wondering what y'all would like to do for the next one so I can start writing it up for approval ... also, any criticism's are welcome ... this has been eye opening for me as I am used to face to face gaming, where things are faster, and rules can be tweaked on the fly ... so it's been a little difficult to wrap my head around GM'ing here
Torryn nodded in satisfaction at the demise of the wood creatures. Now she just needed to ensure that the nasty fetish dolls were are destroyed too. It wasn't wise to leave such things lying around. She again opened her senses to determined any lingering traces of magic or evil.

Mortimer's ears are still ringing from the clobbering he received across the head. He's been in many fist fights. Has taken countless kicks and punches with little to no effect on him. However that slam from the golem was a true slobber knocker.
After Mortimer shakes the bats from his belfry, he turns to the altar with the perfectly skinned body. He restates what he had learned from them, "An aura of undeath, the dolls 'ave." He walks over to the alter to scrutinize the skinned body (Perception: 22.). He adds, "These dolls 'ave our likeness, yeah. The bog witch 'as been watchin' us!"

Now the statues bothered him...the likeness of the group was just creepy. He looks to the others more attuned with religion and nature to guide the next move.

Loryn was pleased to see the evil things fall, but he also knew there was much more to do. These things were creations and that meant there was a creator. The others were on the right as far as he was concerned, the dolls should be destroyed and the fact that they existed in the first place was unnerving at best and boded ill for the Argentium. I suggest we pile everything, including the poor soul atop, next to the alter and set it a fire with our blessing and move on."
Assuming none object, Loryn gathers up some wood along with the bits of doll and the skinned corpse. Hopefully one of the others had some oil and a torch. As a last resort Loryn could cast Scorching Ray
Once the unpleasantness is done, Loryn mounts up and prepares to continue to follow Ash
The abandoned homestead with creepy unknown evil statues and the Frozen Chapel would be cool. I would prefer NOT to have council or elders or really anyone in Windhorne be the source of the next adventure.
