Ironic Asimov(23/13/21; 87 HP; CMD 20) Armor (42/53 HP; Hardness 5) -- Hugh Thursday December 21st, 2023 11:49:37 PM
As Irony is a construct he should be immune to the fungus so Asimov orders his mechanical minion to fly down and start helping those who can't help themselves up.

Zeoll offers rope and help down, staying clear of the fungus.
He helps prisoners out of the pits, and offers a ride if someone cannot walk.

Elron is less trustful of the fungus, and sticks to using the ladder. He helps those who can't climb themselves up the ladder using his rope of climbing to prevent mishaps.
Mundhildur Karadottir, Jotun singing giant Lvl 10 (7'4") (Kim) AC 22 Touch 16 FF20 HP 52/84 Tuesday January 2nd, 2024 3:24:42 PM
It might be noted by some that at the moment, Mundhildur does not seem as skillful with nor as knowledgeable about rope usage as normal. Rather sloppy with them, actually.
Mitch - The Twins combat Tunnel Map Monday January 8th, 2024 5:41:31 AM Cyrion thinks maybe with Mundhildur’s help they can use the rope as well as the ladder. Mundhildur is willing but less skilled than usual. Irony is immune and also able to help. Zeoll is able to give rides. Elron trusts not the fungus and just uses the ladder.
The party is able to get everyone out of the pits. Exhausted, tired, and somewhat poisoned, the prisoners are nonetheless able to express their gratitude. One of them, in a ragged white dress, matches the description of the healer they were sent to rescue. She’s a short, plump elf of grey hair and seems to have gotten some of the worst treatment out of the prisoners, barely coherent enough to move with the group. By the party’s headcount they’ve found everyone missing except for the captain of the prison.

Mundhildur takes out some food from her bag. She sets it down on a blanket. Tubers, vegetables, some fruit, wheat, oats, cheese, salted meats, bread, seasonings, a few dozen eggs, pickled items. There are a few water skins. A wineskin. Casks of wine, mead, and ale. Five pounds of honeycomb. She also sets down two traveling teapots, and a coffee pot. There is also coffee, black tea, and green tea.
She lays it all out on two woolen blankets. She says, "Someone figure out what to do with the food. I'm going to sleep for a while." She does not offer to help further, but takes a bedroll, and finds a corner as far away from everyone in the same area as she can, and goes to sleep.
Mitch - The Twins combat Tunnel Map Tuesday January 9th, 2024 9:32:56 AM Elron tries to figure out how long it’ll take for people to recover and get back to the colony. Asimov looks for the brother they were asked to look for. Zeoll treats the prisoner’s injuries/poisoning as best he can and asks about the captain. Mundhildur gets stuff out for the others to use and wanders off to take a nap.
The guard captain and the brother they were asked to search for are the same person. The survivors tell of how the Derro dominated his mind as soon as the attack started and he was always at the leader’s side as his pet mind slave. The party is pretty sure the leader of the Derro was the sorcerer in the group that ambushed them, and there’s only one direction left to look for the missing captain.
The prisoners are not fit for extended travel, but they seem well enough to get to the surface to join the other freed prisoners so they’ll all be safe as a large group. The Twins continue to stand guard over everyone to ensure their safety. It’ll probably take a day or two for everyone to be well enough to make the rough trip back to the colony.
Zeoll (AC22, HP75 of 90) | Bill the Eagle (AC21, HP68 of 68) | Cayzle Tuesday January 9th, 2024 3:34:40 PM
"Should we go look forr the Captain while the Twins watch overr the prrisonerrs?"
Zeoll is on board with this plan if everybody else is. But looking around the walking wounded group -- heroes as well as former prisoners -- he also suggests that we go in the morning, after some healing and rest.

Asimov says, "I agree with you Zeoll. Let's do the suggested plan but rest if we can first. I'm mostly out of prepared devices, though I have some ones that can heal if anyone needs it."
Mitch - The Twins combat Tunnel Map d100=22 ; Wednesday January 10th, 2024 5:35:43 AM Zeoll suggests they rest then pursue the captain while the Twins watch over the freed prisoners. Asimov agrees
The party gets some rest and recovers their spells and tools. They head back into the cave but find signs of activity. A large group of some sort seems to have taken everything of value remaining in the cave network and are nowhere to be seen. Probably the surviving Derro escaping to parts unknown in the underdark.
They find the captain standing completely still staring at a wall. It seems with the death of the Derro leader they had no way to command him and left him, unmoving and unable to react to anything around him until given a command by a dead man or the spell is broken.

The man resists being moved, but weakly. He must have been standing there for hours, on closer inspection he’s trembling and barely standing, but he mutters, ”Master said to look at wall” and tries to go back, though it’s really easy to outmatch his feeble resistance.
Once back the rest of the prisoners are starting to look better. They had a nice long rest along with the party and are ready to move. The healer is starting to look more alert, though she’s clearly suffering from poisoning still and is mostly just following the group.

Elron could break off a piece of wall and hang that in front of the captain, but it's sure to mess up his footing or otherwise cause problems.
Elron's ready to scout ahead of the group if need be. Just to look out for trouble on the way.

Mitch - The Twins combat Tunnel Map Friday January 12th, 2024 6:52:19 AM Elrontries to chip away part of the wall so the captain can stare at the piece of wall. He’s ready to scout ahead as well. Mundhildur takes her turn carrying the captain. Asimov prepares detoxifying capsules.
Surprisingly the wall piece thing works. Once the piece of wall he was staring at is chipped away and handed to him he stops struggling and carries it staring all the while. He still needs to be carried out but at least he isn’t trying to run back to the wall he was told to watch.
There’s a lot of walking wounded, but this was the area the group was mining so there are carts and things that the worst cases can be loaded on to while making the trip back. Nothing attacks the party on the way to the colony/prison - such a large group, even with injured, seems to deter any local predators.
The detoxifying doesn’t help the captain. It seems due to how swiftly he was controlled the Derro never poisoned him, seeking to keep him in peak fighting form. The healer though immediately starts looking much better. It’s a long trip back with so many injured and is closing in on night time again by the time the party arrives. Hopefully by morning the healer will be better, and it might be good for the party to send a report in.

As the party embarks on the journey back to the colony, Elron takes on his role as the group's scout with a determined gleam in his eye. His keen senses and years of experience suit him to the role. With a wide-brimmed hat casting a shadow over his sharp rooster features, Elron leads the way. His eyes, sharp and watchful, scan the horizon as he scouts ahead. Occasionally, he crouches low to the ground, examining the tracks and traces there. A subtle nod or a gesture communicates vital information to his companions trailing behind. When the path ahead splits, Elron surveys the options, considering the safety and efficiency of each route before guiding the group with a confident point.
In the dense woods, Elron's hand signals come alive. His eyes narrow as he detects the distant rustle of leaves. With a series of subtle gestures, he conveys the potential threat, leading the group to take a detour.
During the journey, Elron's crowing laughter echoes through the woods, breaking the tension and boosting morale. His folksy tales and humorous anecdotes become a source of camaraderie among the weary travelers. Yet, when the situation demands it, his demeanor shifts to one of unwavering focus, ensuring the safety and success of the party.

Elron worries about how folks will pass the time as the head to the colony, and fills it with a tale -- Well now, lemme spin y'all a yarn 'bout ol' Buff Orpington's escapade in Plateau City. Picture this:
Buff, son o’ a merchant, out with th’ caravan for th’ first time in ‘is life, goes t’ New Elenna – he's takin' in them grand Serenbeth Vineyards, wanderin' through th’ Rainbow Palace like a lost puppy, an’ glidin' down th’ Brinkwater in a boat. Now, this fella, he's got a hankerin' for some high-falutin' Elfin cuisine, so he picks out th’ swankiest restaurant he can afford.
There's Buff, perched at th’ bar, ready for a feast, when a real pretty bartender drops a note in front o’ him. Now, Buff's no Elf scholar, couldn't decipher them fancy scribbles. He gets a seat, asks th’ waiter t’ make sense o’ that there note, an’ boom! Before ya know it, he's gettin' th’ boot from that snazzy eatery.
Poor ol' Buff finds hisself curb-side, wonderin' what in – I say, what in tarnation jus’ happened. Along comes th’ town watch, wonderin’ what’s goin’ on. Buff explains how he’s been seein’ th’ sights an’ wanted a nice dinner when he gets this note – which he can’t read – an’ how th’ waiter tossed him out after readin’ th’ note.
Hhmmmm… said th’ watchman, You better let me see this note. So Buff gave th’ note t’ th’ watchman, an’ wouldn't ya know it, he gets slapped with th’ cuffs!
Buff was brought before th’ magistrate, so he protests. Well, bless my soul, your honor, I reckon there's been some kinda mistake. I ain't done no wrong, an’ I'm mighty confused 'bout why I find myself standin' before ya. You see, I embarked on this dream trip t’ your city o’ lights. Admired th’ Serenbeth Vineyards, sauntered through th’ Rainbow Palace like a gentleman meanderin' through a summer garden, an’ even took a leisurely boat ride down th’ Brinkwater.
Now, sir, a man like me, he gets a hankerin' for some fancy grub. So, I picked out th’ finest eatery I could afford. There I was, waiting' for my table at th’ bar, when a vision o’ loveliness, th’ barkeep, dropped a note right in front o’ me. Trouble is, it was in that fancy Elfin language, an’ I'll be honest with ya, I can't make head nor tail o’ it.
Seated at my table, I kindly asked th’ waiter if he could unravel th’ mystery within that note. But wouldn't ya know it, after readin' that scribble, he had me booted out o’ th’ establishment faster than a jackrabbit in a footrace.
Now, picture this, your honor – I'm sittin' on th’ curb outside that fine eatery, ponderin' life's twists, when along comes a watchman. I showed him that confoundin' note, an’ next thing I know, he slaps th’ bracelets on me an’ says I'm under arrest. Now, ain't that a head-scratcher?
Th’ judge, he takes one gander at that note an’ orders Buff kicked out o’ New Elenna, just like that.
Buff's hurried t’ Edenmoor (they got way's of hurryin' real good in New Elenna, ya know), where he’s gotta take a diff’rent caravan back home, miffed 'cause he had days left on his trip. He's chattin' with an elf in the group, spillin' th’ beans about his misfortune. Th’ elf, curious as a cat, asks t’ lay eyes on th’ note. Buff hands it over, an’ th’ elf hollers for a guard. Next thing ya know, th’ merchants are tossin' Buff out like yesterday's leftovers.
Lucky for Buff, there’s a flatboat headin’ up th’ river from Edenmoor t’ Troll. It's slow, but it's safe. Well, sir, naturally, Buff found hisself standin' before th’ captain, who was keen on knowin' how in tarnation Buff ended up on his ship. Buff, bein’ a straightforward kind o’ feller, started spillin' th’ beans. Captain, my tale begins with what I thought would be my dream trip t’ Plateau City. I laid eyes on them Serenbeth Vineyards, strolled through th’ Rainbow Palace like I was promenadin' through a summer garden, an’ took a leisurely boat ride down th’ Brinkwater.
Now, a man with a hankerin' for some fancy vittles like me, I picked out th’ swankiest eatery I could scrape up enough coin for. There I was, perchin' at th’ bar, awaitin' my table, when a vision o’ loveliness, th’ barkeep, dropped a note right in front o’ me. Now, this note, sir, it was scribbled in that fancy Elf language, an’ truth be told, I can't make heads nor tails o’ it.
Seated at my table, I kindly asked th’ waiter if he could unravel th’ mystery within that note. But wouldn't ya know it, after readin' that scribble, he had me booted out o’ th’ establishment faster than a jackrabbit in a footrace. Now, there I was, sittin' on th’ curb outside that fine eatery, ponderin' life's twists, when along comes a watchman. I showed him that confoundin' note, an’ next thing I know, he slaps th’ bracelets on me an’ says I'm under arrest. Now, ain't that a head-scratcher?
Good gracious! exclaimed th’ captain, That sure must be one peculiar note. You really oughta let me take a gander at it; I speak elf, you know.
But Buff, he ain't one t’ hit his head against th' wall more'n half a dozen times. No, sir, he replied, I reckon it ain't a good idea for me t’ show it t’ nobody else. Disappointment lingered, but Buff, as stubborn as a mule, held firm that no one was layin' eyes on that note. Found hisself a bunk on that cargo ship for th’ week-long journey. Now, bein' a man o’ work ethic, even though no one asked him t’, Buff decided t’ lend a hand. He pitched in helpin' prep food, servin', an’ tidyin' up th’ mess hall. Folks agreed that havin’ Buff stirrin' th’ coffee pot was th’ best decision they made. Shoot, they even offered him a permanent spot on th’ ship.
Now, folks keep pesterin’ Buff 'bout that note, but he keeps it locked up tighter’n’a bullfrog's croak. Near th’ end o’ th’ trip, he shows it t’ th’ captain, an’ what do ya know, splash! Overboard!
He was close enough at this point that he could walk home t’ Trader’s Corner in a week or so. After gettin’ home an’ cleanin’ hisself up, Buff vis'ted his girlfriend.
Buff! She cried You didn’t return with your caravan, I made so many inquiries, they had no idea what had happened, folks thought you might be dead!
Buff took a deep breath an’ began explainin’. As you know I went off on what I thought would be my dream adventure. I saw th’ Serenbeth Vineyards Tower, toured th’ Rainbow Palace an’ took a boat ride down th’ Brinkwater. I definitely wanted t’ have some haute elven cuisine, so I picked out th’ nicest restaurant I could afford. I was waitin’ for my table at th’ bar when a rather unattractive bartender dropped a note in front o’ me. It was elvish, which I can’t read. When I was seated, I asked my waiter if he could tell me what it said. Th’ waiter said o’ course, but upon readin’ it, th’ waiter had me forcibly removed from th’ restaurant. Then I was sittin’ on th’ curb outside th’ restaurant when a watchman came by, an’ after I let him see th’ note he put me under arrest. I was subsequently brought before a judge, an’ when he saw th’ note, he ordered me t’ be exiled from New Elenna. An’ I still couldn’t believe it when th’ other caravan found out what th’ note said an' I was thrown out. I wouldn’t have survived except I had th’ luck t’ find on a passin’ boat. I did not want t’ show them th’ note, you understand, but for a week they badgered me t’ see it, an’ I still had no idea what it said, so I eventually let them see it. Inevitably once they saw it, they threw me overboard. I still have th’ damn note--th’ paper is very good quality--an’ th’ mystery is killin’ me.
Buff’s girlfriend had some doubts about this story, but instead o’ directly callin’ Buff out about it, she offered My uncle speaks elvin, we could ask him what it says.
So th’ two o’ them met an’ headed over t’ th’ uncle’s house. Buff told his story t’ th’ uncle--which we will omit here in th’ interest o’ time--an’ checked that there was no weapons in th’ house before handin’ over th’ note.
Th’ uncle said, I can translate this for you, just let me get my readin’ glasses. Th’ uncle put th’ note down on th’ table an’ went t’ get his glasses. Just then a gust o’ wind came through an’ blew th’ note out th’ window, an’ it was never t’ be seen again.
