STAIRS: Like everything else in this tower, the stairs are carved from some form of obsidian-like stone. The stairs are quiet, and Panzer with his sharp eyes doesn't even spot any dust or spiderwebs anywhere.
As the Petals reach the second floor, they are greeted by the following: This floor mimics the first, 80' in diameter and 20' high. The walls and ceiling are covered in metal gears and plates. Occasional chains hang down from the ceiling. At the far end of this large chamber, a stone stairway rises to the third floor. Arranged in this large space are nine softly glowing crystal orbs about 3' in diameter.

perception 38 Panzer hears muffled disturbances from inside one of the illuminated globes. based on who they think this tower belongs to and what he has done Panzer assumes that an unwilling glowing being has been imprisoned inside the globe to provide light. He moves to the globe and shatters it with a blow from his adamantine weapon. Hit AC 22 for 22 damage adamantine also Panzer can bypass 5 points of DR if it applies due to feats

Other than that he just waits for something to explode or jump out at them from a dark corner. Dark corners are quite the feat in a round tower. Must be a necromancer/mood thing. Tsak never really got into interior design, what with being a slave and all. And dwarves don't really do towers.

As the bubble pops and new enemies appear Tsak steps between the nearest floating skull thing and Falco. Drawing his sword as he moves he takes a swing at the WoW. He's never seen one before and isn't sure what will hurt it, but he has a big shiny sword so that seems a good place to start.

Though Mak had heard of Will-o-wisps, he didn't know much about them, however given that the minotaur was grappling one he assumed it must have a tangible form that could be damaged by his arrows.
Mak had two arrows in his hand and drew back and fired at the one being grappled, however his shots went wide and bounced off the wall. He tried again, but the grappling opponents were moving too erractically and he missed again. His third shot missed as well as it passed through the corona of the wisp. His forth shot and fifth arrow also missed. These things were tough.

He had weapons in hand (or at least he did when they entered the spire, when he was making sure they stayed weapons), so if he is able to make an AOO at the oncoming will-o-wisp, then he hits AC 27 with a trident for 6 damage.

Mak pivoted and fired at another of the Will-o-wisps. Again, two arrows left his bow at the same time. Both arrows hit, so Mak shifted slightly and fired at the one on Beech, hitting it as well with the balance of his shots missing.

Everyone gains a hero point, for supporting each other through an interesting and somewhat difficult fight.
Panzer searches the room – he finds a lot of dust. The gears and chains don’t make a lot of sense to him, as there is no machinery here, or at least he has seen.
Kiwina asks who was hurt, and then uses his healing skill on himself, gaining some health back .. he also finds a lot of dust, and determines that whatever these gears and chains go to, there would be enough pieces and parts to fix something intricate
Ayotnom also looks around, but he too only finds dust, and that the gears and chains seem evenly rusted
Beech states he was damaged “a little”, and then jokingly asks “does everything need to be poked,” and adds “not everything should be released.” Beech also shares arrows with whoever needs any
Tsak grins when Beech discusses “not poking things,” as Tsak found it hard, NOT to poke the skeleton in the stone tomb. He then moves to the steps and calls down to Elyas telling him the Wisps have been dealt with, and asks if any of the coffins have opened
Mak gladly accepts arrows, and shares he took no damage. He then offers to play more in the front line action to take the heat of his friends
Falco reiterates about “Not breaking things,” and “no more smashing lids to coffins and poking things unprovoked!”
Elyas responds that everything is fine and asks "When are we leaving?"

"What are the odds we'll end up fighting a clockwork lich?" he wonders, seeing no immediate use for these parts. At least if it's clockwork it doesn't seem to have formed yet.

Kiwina watches the others test to see if the magic has been restored, curious. He does not think that something glowing and floating in the anti-magic field is going to make it any less anti-magic with respect to them, but it would be nice.
If no one else reads the scroll, he will walk up and take it. If, however, the other determine magic is working again, he will let them try detection spells on it first.

The Petals gather, each testing whether the anti-magical effects have gone away:
Panzer throws an ioun stone in the air, and then catches as gravity sends it back to him
Tsak asks about "a spare door" and then ponders if a scroll can explode. Panzer's reply hits the nail on the head, "Yes, but what are the odds..."
Beech knows that magic is not back, and takes cover behind a tomb in case the scroll does explode.
Ayotnom and Kiwina both approach the scroll. Kiwina reaches out for it, and the scroll changes shape into a glowing images of Elyas's head. "I am sorry my friends, but an urgent matter with my family has arisen, and I have been taken home. If this works, then thank you for our friendship, and I may yet return to find you all in the future."
The head turns to dust and vanishes ...
The room is quiet .. and disappointedly nothing exploded
What now brave adventurers??? There's no need to clean up the dust pile, it fits in with the ambiance of the tower.

Following the dismissal of the magical head, Mak grumps about the "scroll working, but nothing else." He advocates for continuing the adventure since the door isn't open
Ayotnom agrees that "Up" is the Petals' option at this time, since the door is closed.
Kiwina is ready to head upwards, and is willing to the move towards the front of the pack
Panzer takes point, and with weapons ready to slay, heads back up the stairs
Beech, takes up his archer position in the back of the party
Tsak falls in next to Beech, and relishes the walk back up the stairs, further into the "dusty old land of the dead."
Falco looks upwards and shares that "Up we go, and lets see if our foe shows itself.
The Petals move cautiously back up to the second floor. Nothing has changed in the room since the group went back downstairs.
Like the second floor, the room is 80' around, and 20' high. The walls and ceiling are covered in more chains and metal gears.
Arranged in this large space are three large stone statues, seemingly cast in bronze.
The first appears to be that of a mage reading a book held in one outstretched hand. His face is contorted in fear.
The second appears to be a king with a crown and scepter. He looks to the sky with a look of great sadness.
The third is a maiden dressed modestly, though her form is shapely. She holds no items. She seems to look off into the distance and lines of worry crease her face.
The Petals all need to must make three separate DC 15 Will saves.

Once the saves are completed, the "power" in the room fades.

This last floor is about 80' in diameter, though the ceiling rises 120' as it is the top part of the spire. The walls and ceiling are covered in metal gears and plates as far up as you can see. Occasional chains hang down from the ceiling. You notice there is a glass case of some sort set into the wall, and in the case is what appears to be a beautiful woman in an upright position. Her eyes are closed and she is dressed in a simple white gown.
All your magical items and spells and doo-dads and whirly-gigs all begin functioning again
Before the party can take action this happens:
Stepping out from a wall is a large construct of black metal. It is all spikes and armor, save for several forge-like stacks that burn atop its crown and back. Occasional puffs of black smokes billow from these stacks, causing the air here to be foul and fetid. You can see here and there that something is encased in the metal of this monstrosity.

"Ah, you have followed me here to your doom. Pity. You should seek immortality, living immortality as I do. Perhaps if my studies are not welcome in the Wold, I can experiment on the souls here. You see, I have imprisoned Redemption in her own tower so the souls here in this purgatory of Regret have no release and are building up, which is just what I need. Now, let me see if I can make you regret having followed me here."

Panzer looks at the construct holding the Lich, he bets that black metal is adamantine. Perception 33 for more details on the room Knowledge engineering 9 He wracks his feeble brain to figure out who the heck Redemption is. He comes up with nothing. Althought the woman at the other side of the room is most likely her he has no context for her. Intelligence 9 Panzer drops his off hand blade, draws a wand from the spring loaded sheathe on his wrist and taps himself with it, then drops it to the ground. He stoops and retrieves his blade.

Mak stepped into the room and looked at the statues, but something about the one withe the woman struck a chord with him and a sense of melancholy came over him. Why were they even here? They might die here and then what? He'd never see his family again.
With that burden weighing heavily upon him he trudged to the next floor with the others. When the lich in his metal armor steps out Mak takes the shot. His first two arrows, fired together, they hit but harmlessly glanced off the metal construct. His third arrow hit solidly (Nat 20) but merely scratched the surface of the armor. The fourth arrow simply missed as Mak pulled the fifth arrow from his quiver and fired again but he was unable to confirm if it did any damage.

Panzer watches with interest as the golem steps out. He quickly surmises that the golem is crafted from adamantine – he drops his off hand blade, pops out and uses a wand on himself, and then drops the wand and picks up his blade
Kiwina calls out and summons a pillar of fire, then converts his weapon to a Warhammer (“It’s HAMMER TIME”) He also tells Elyas to “Free Redemption!” … Kiwina begins to wonder if they could lure the Lich Golem down a floor into the anti-magic area and then finish it off
Ayotnom decries that ”A lich wearing a construct as armor isn’t fighting fair!” He also throws his rapier at the Lich Golem (kinda sounds like a grunge band)

how big is the golem? 10 feet tall+2x2 squares 15 feet tall =3x3 squares 20 feet tall =4x4 squares Its in between those sizes on the map which makes it hard to maneuver since we don't know where it really is .

Mak leapt to the side as the cone of cold shot from the golems fingers and then charged across the intervening distance as he drew his rapier to attack. He approached it from the side so as to flank it with the the minotaur. Mak's adamantine rapier penetrated the golem deeply as it bypassed it's defenses was a cacophonous thunderclap rocked the creature. That was going to leave a mark.

OOC PF uses a grid all of the time, so when they lay out an AoE it is jagged. This means that not all of the squares on the diagonal edge of an area will be hit by an attack. John is a stickler and a PFS venture agent so he kinda notices these things whenever they come up, sort of like habitual proofreaders point out you used the wrong "there" in a sentence.

Did it snicker? It snickered at me! Tsak is incensed, he's boiling over with rage. This mongrel snickered at him. Bloody mongrel! The rage sees him thru the onslaught of fear that the being unleashes and Tsak retaliates with an onslaught of his own.

Ayotnom fails the will save and flees from the battle with the lich. Presumably he is able to move 45 feet back to the top of the stairs and then 15 feet down the stairs so I don't know if he is now on the third floor or somewhere on the stairs in between and I'll need a DM ruling on just where Ayotnom is.

Mak took a 5' step forward and activated his glove (free action) to store his rapier, then drew and fired his bow. With the help of Beech's haste, Mak fired 6 arrows in rapid succession. The first two fired together struck the lich solidly as did the third, fifth, and sixth. The fourth arrow might have hit, but in the confusion of combat Mak lost track of it.

As the Petals have faced this enemy before, they know a few things about him: Cold attacks don’t seem to faze him; some spells just fizzle out when they hit him; having him touch you will want you to take a bath, and has some very bad aftereffects
Ayotnom recoils in terror as the Lich appears from his armored shell, and high tails it away from the battle and Lich … the Lich tries to smack him, but misses. The new golem seems to ignore him, the chain by the stairs grabs him, but the wily minotaur evades being grappled, but does take some damage, and makes it halfway between the 4th and 3rd floor … when the Lich teleports, Ayotnom can feel and smell him, triggering his fear response
Kiwina escapes the chain snake, and moves to support his friends. He takes a stab at the hump growing in the floor, but sees nothing happened
Panzer, informs the Lich that it is “His Turn”, and explodes in a flurry of bladework, causing several large wounds in good 'ol lichie poo
Tsak, who isn’t happy about being “snickered” at, retaliates with some bladework of his own, striking the poor Lich three times
Falco attempts to break free of the chain but is unable, and it begins tightening up around him

The golem drives Panzer like a tent peg into the floor, his adamantine armor ifs the only thing that saves him from being outright crushed. Shaking his head and angry at the loss of his prey Panzer drops his frost kukri and while racing across the room draws his lightning kukri. hes move takes him right through the golem's threatened area to get to the Lich. As he moves he says to his companions, ' I'm on him, see if you can free Redemption. Falco, buddy can you manage a channel? I think we could both use a heal." If/when he reaches the Lich. Panzer Heroically makes a full attack again. If the chains seem to be acting as armor he attempts to neutralize them first by chopping them off.

Mak was amazed that the lich was still standing and his little teleport trick threw the duelist off just a bit. With just three arrows remaining Mak had to make them count, so he took his time, time that seemed like ages due to the haste spell upon him. His first arrow, fired singly to conserve ammunition went wide and missed, he followed that up with another in rapid fire succession that also missed. With his last arrow in hand, Mak fired for the last time and missed once more.
With his arrows spent Mak summoned his blade into his hand and readied himself to enter melee. He knew he had more arrows in his pack, but he had friends that needed his help. Maybe if that lich was vanquished quickly it's metal constructs would lose their will to operate. That was his hope at least.

Someone asked what the golem looks like – it looks like an unfinished construct. It has no face, but it does have a head. Its legs end in the floor so it has no feet. Its arms look more like battering rams than actual hands.
Sensing the Lich is nearby, Ayotnom seeks the safety of the 3rd floor. This time there is no magical attacks from the three statues
Watching the Lich escape his grasp, Panzer takes a rash, but bold move in following said undead guy across the room. The Tower Defense construct does connect with him, but Panzer brushes the damage off. As he reaches said Lich, one of the chains is acting as a living shield … until Panzer explodes into a ball of fury … the chain lays in pieces at his feet when he is finished, and again, the Lich’s mouth drops in fear and schock at what he just observed
Falco, greatly concerned about his state of affairs attempts to firce the chain to release him by dispelling any magic upon it … however, nothing happens Highlight to display spoiler: { It took me about 45 minutes of searching to get this answer – so the chain is haunted, although it counts as a construct – neither of which are “magical” in nature .. that was a great idea, it has been a VERY long time since someone has used that spell while I was GM’ing or a player}
Tsak, following Panzer, aids in the destruction of the Lich’s “pet snake” – grinning when said Lich realizes he may have bitten off more than he can chew this time around
Beech, still in the grip of the chain snake, casts a simple spell … and the snake reacts almost immediately by dropping Beech from 60’ in the air. The Lich grins as Beechs spell washes over him but has no effect Highlight to display spoiler: { If you have some way of mitigating this falling damage – please put it in this combat post – I’ll roll damage as normal, but I know a lot of y’all use acrobatics or have other skills to compensate for not being able to fly/levitate }
Mak, knowing he had a few arrows left, took the time to aim before firing his shots. However, some kind of invisible hand must have whacked his arrows from hitting the Lich, I mean Mak couldn’t have missed a non-moving target correct…he then draws his sword and prepares to assist in the fight against the Lich
Kiwina moves to the glass case, as Panzer suggested. Examining the case, Kiwina can tell it isn’t made of glass, but some kind of crystal Highlight to display spoiler: { probably diamond based on how the light makes it sparkle } visibly there is no release mechanism anywhere around the case
Lich and Pets: The chain snake around the Lich is in very small pieces of metal … they might float, who knows
The chain snake holding Beech has dropped him, and it has been blinded, so it looks like it is trying to find someone by trial and error

Mak was slammed by the lightning bolt even as he thought about closing the distance, instead he stored his sword in the glove (free action) and pulled out a bundle of arrows (10 arrows, move action) , loaded one in his bow and fired. He only had one shot, so he made it count.

oOC I don't see an entry for the golem hitting Panzer as he moves. How much damage did he take? Also, the Lich is casting defensively right? Panzer has combat reflexes so he will take every AoO he is given a chance to take. As Panzer makes short work of the chain Tsak sees the Lich smile. Not good. Re-adjusting his approach Tsak makes for the Lich. He weaves, he bobs and his world goes white. He chars, he singes and he smokes. With his teeth still rattling in his skull he positions himself opposite Panzer and stabs at one of the three Lich's in his swimming vision. He hopes its the right one.

Mak fires one arrow, which slams and sticks into the Lich's left shoulder
Panzer, now that the "snake armor" is gone, proceeds to obliterate the Lich
Beech, saves himself from the fall, and launches several magic missile at the Lich
Tsak tries to get a blow in on the Lich, but is still frazzled from the lightning bolt
Falco tries to save himself, but hits the ground. After a simple casting of a heal spell, he gets up and looks around to see who needs healing (at this point, I think Panzer may be the most injured...I think, there are several others who are injured as well)
Kiwina, looking at the diamond case, pulls out his adamantine dagger, and tries to slip it between the wall and the edge of the case .. he does find a soft spot in the wall, and after the round, about 3" of his dagger blade is on the inside of the case
Ayotnom is now on the stairs between the third and second floors
Achtoor the Lich - after all the damage he takes, he explodes into dust ... the party hears a terrified wail of "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
The glass case that Kiwina wedged his dagger into, gives way, crashing to the ground and shattering into almost powder.
At the same time the Lich goes "POOF," Ayotnom no longer feels afraid
With the case gone, the Lady in the White dress opens her eyes, she looks around with sad eyes, then holds her hand out to Kiwiina for help out of the case - being the proper gentlemen he is, she's is able to gracefully dismount, and once on the floor, the two chain snakes do an about-face and slither back up to the ceiling, while the golem sinks back into the floor

Panzer hears Falco ask who's hurt and while breathing hard, most of his blood is still on the inside. Tsak however has been struck by lightning. Panzer points a finger at Tsak and says " Heal him, That looked like it really, really hurt. " Panzer watches where the essence of the lich goes.... that phlactry still needs to be found and destroyed..

Mak's shoulders slumped when the lich burst into dust and though he had managed to not flee this time he still felt somewhat guilty for not rushing into melee. Panzer seemed to be an injury sponge as far as Mak was concerned. The little guy could take a lot of punishment. (That right? 171 HP?)
The bowman shouldered his bow and moved over to Tsak to check on the ranger. "You ok? I thought you might cry when your lich friend died....again."

A soothing wave passes over Tsak as Beeches magics restore him somewhat. The respite is short lived as there are plenty more bruises and scrapes jockeying for his attention. He puts his arm across Mak's shoulder Is that a touch of jealosy I hear bud?
Tsak gives Beech a nod of thanks and Panzer a thumbs up before making his way down to the floor below where it seems a party is just starting.

While the group begins their healing and joking, Kiwina asks the lady, "Are you Redemption?"
Her voice is almost musical, "Thank you young sir. Yes, I am the Lady of Redemption, and this is my tower. That Lich (This is said with anger) snuck into my tower and then was able to put me to sleep, and then, I don't know what he did, or how long I've been away from my duties."
She looks at the party, and then the destroyed chain, and adamantine golem. Pointing to it, "That is not of my creation, nor is it part of my defenses, where did it come from?"

Beech, Casts Detect Magic and looks over the items that are the remains of Lich. He also asks, "Do you have any need of, or want all of that diamond dust? We can clean it up for you...." He also clicks the healing wand again..... gaining 9 hp
Tsak was about to scold Mak for not putting his toys away, but the rest of the party beat him to it with their boring but sensible answers regarding the golem and the chains. Instead of putting his foot in his mouth Tsak settles for waiting patiently whilst they work out if the Lich's phylactery is present. Since the tower belongs to the lady he doubts it. While waiting he wanders over to look at (Perception) the other two statues of the king and mage that were on the same floor as the lady.

Mak almost tells the Lady that they brought the golem along and then killed it here, then he thinks twice and will let Tsak handle that
Panzer points out that the Lich was wearing the golem as a suit, and that someone needs to "figure out what the phylactery is, so we can destroy it." Highlight to display spoiler: { there is 10k gold piece value of adamantine there. So enough for a few weapons, or maybe 1 suit of armor and a weapon. You've played the most with adamantine that I figured you'd know its value/worth by now}
Ayotnom seconds the "finding the phylactery and destroying it" line of thought. Since he's right there, he begins looking over the items that his best buddy had on his person: Headband, a nifty looking rod, an amulet on a twisted metal necklace, a heavy golden ring set with a cut chunk of amethyst, a more delicate silver wrap ring holding a perfect sphere of hematite, another amulet, a lovely wyvern hide crafted bag, a pouch holding a small amount of whitish powder, a second pouch containing several pieces of onyx, and a larger pouch/small sack of what looks like glittery dust mixed with what looks like rainbow dust.
Kiwina, being the smart cookie that he is asks the Lady of Redemption if she would be able to "detect a soul in an item?" and then adds "is there anything we can do to assist you."
Beech and Falco, being the nice and tidy fellas that they are, offer to clean up the pile of diamond dust that once was Redemption's prison
Tsak, who has thoughts to add, holds them back whilst his friends convert them all ...
Redemption: Looking around the room her gaze ends on the pile of adamantine golems' pieces and parts, she cocks her head to one side then states, "That was his home. He twisted one of my tower defenders into that monstrosity. So you've beaten him for good. On the line of cleanliness, you are more than welcome to take away my prison." Looking around at the party she offers the following, [b]"I cannot heal your physical wounds, though I am able to cleanse any negative effects that abomination may have caused you."

Falco's latest batch of healing has Tsak feeling a lot better. On top of that the lady's news that the Lich is defeated and their discovery of a nice little batch of trophies means that hopefully the Petals can troop back to the wold, re-board their boat and sail into a nice warm sunset followed by a few days rest. Sounds great, what could go wrong? The ranger smiles wryly to himself and waits to find out.

Kiwina thanks Falco for the healing as well. Turning his attention back to the Lady, Kiwina talks with her while the others deal with cleaning up. (Although if the lady asks, Kiwina will readily be pressed into service setting things straight as she instructs.)

Aha! Tsak thinks he sees how this will go. Ding Dong the Lich is dead, but so, probably, is the gateway. He's betting the lady will be able to help them, but will require some service in return. The ranger keeps his thoughts to himself and waits to see what Ayotnom comes up with as he examines the loot.

Mak had a few blisters remaining from those devastating lightning bolts, but he too was feeling much better. Surely enough to go out the way they came as long as they didn't have any other trouble. While he waited for the clean up crew to finish he restocked his arrows.

Like Tsak, Kiwina has misgivings the gateway may be gone. He is also a bit curious as to how much of what they encountered on the way here was due to Redemption being imprisoned, and whether the trip out would be less eventful.

Panzer will take the time to explain to Redemption all the things Achtoor did back in the Wols and ask if she knows how to fix the villagers he was draining. She may not know, but at least he tried to get some more concrete answers to help them. Beyond that he waits to see what the mages come up with indentifying the items on the body.

The Lady of Redemption explains, "Now that my tower is back in my control, I can call upon more defenses should I need them."
She will sit with the party, asking to hear their regrets in life, and offering healing, forgiveness and redemption. While she cannot restore lost hit points, she is able to heal them of any other conditions affecting them Which we covered above. She will tell them what her role is in this part of the Estates of Unrest, "Here is where I gather souls who have spent time and found redemption for their actions in life. These souls are then transported to the Court of Gargul, for He makes the final decision on what purpose they can now hold." She closes her eyes for a moment and a golden glow appears around her, after a minute, she looks back to the party, "I can undo the changes Achtoor made to my tower in order to open his portal to the Wold and route the Woldsblood there. However, if I close the portal and you seven have not travelled back through to your own plane, I fear you all will be trapped there. I implore you to return to the Wold, as they are alive and not dead yet and so, none of you belong here."
As she reads the faces of the party, she seems to make some sort of decision: "I have some trinkets that are no use to me, nor the dead that dwell here; you may have them if you wish. Something will be waiting for you by the front door. Fear not the denizens of my realm. They now know I am in control of this plane again and will not impede your journey."

Tsak, peering over Ayotnom's shoulder as he filters thru the loot, tries not to look surprised as his forebodings completely fail to materialise. That silver ring looks interesting, if no-one else wants it. When the lady mentions there may be even more loot with no strings attached his eyebrow arches up completely of its own accord and he has to turn away so as not to appear rude in the face of her generosity. It looks like sailing back to the Isles could well be on the cards. Even though Tsak wasn't born there, he now considers the region his home.

Panzer was born in the Red Hills and spent his first years adventuring in the Emerald Kingdom and Culverwood area. His first trip to the Islands was with Beech and his Mom just before meeting the party.
Panzer will discuss his not returning home when his family might have been in trouble and instead adventuring with Redemption. He still doesn't know if his parents are alright.
