Following the meeting with Wardd or an avatar of him, the Rose was headed back towards the Isles. Much of the discussion occurring was centered on finding a portal to the Moon. The figure had offered a possible entrance through the Catacombs, but that way most likely would end in death. The other was past the Sargrass Plains. The rumors told about the plains now, was that some form of crystalline structure was slowly sealing the area off. There are monks and others who live in the area that might be able to help, though, and this again is rumors, the folks that live there are kind of "Off."
The one time that neither Mak or Tsak are in the Crow's Nest, the sailor that is calls out, "Hey, I see wreckage ahead of us. 100 yards off the starboard side."

IC Previous to encountering this wreckage, Panzer had been on deck practicing a new technique with his knives. This style teaches him to twist the knife every time he strikes. What this should do to a target should be far more devastating than his normal attacks and if he come close to a vital area you feel certain this will increase his odds to cause a serious hit. These hits could probably rupture organs and blood vessels, snap tendons and sever muscles and possibly crack bones.
The Badgerkin shows intense concentration while practicing this since it is different from his normal whirlwind of slashes. As the days pass though, his speed increases and the technique becomes more natural to him

Beech takes to the air as Panzer dives into the water. They move to and through the wreckage.
Tsak and Mak come up on deck as a cry goes out about the wreckage. Tsak grabs a long gaff hook, ready to snag any survivors or other things that might look important. Mak suspects trouble and scans the debris, bow in hand.

Kiwina moves to the rail as he awaits a report from Beech and Panzer. Kiwina asks Ramsey about their location. He hears that the Petals are in open water, about halfway to the Taur Isles from the mainland.

As Ramsey brings the ship around, you all notice something odd - there is an anchor shaped piece of debris, obviously made of wood because it is floating, though one end dips into the water a bit, raising the other end. Odd that it would be carrying a wooden anchor.

DM Mark - Anchor's a Weight Wednesday July 10th, 2024 8:31:41 PM
The Petals investigate the wreckage in the water.
Ayotnym wonders who would carry a wooden anchor.
Panzer investigates a descending rope that connects some sail material to a wooden spar above. He doesn't have to go far to see the sail material is simply hanging there in the water because sail material is heavier than water. Were it not attached to the rope it would likely have sunk beyond reach. Below him is only cold darkness and increasing pressure.
Tsak's practiced eye tells him this was a good sized vessel. It's likely whatever happened occurred many days ago and only this small amount of debris remains grouped together.
Beech remains puzzled by the floating anchor, wondering if perhaps an underwater vessel might use a floating anchor.
The little owl-man scrambles up to the crows nest. It's a little uncomfortable as the Rose has slowed in the water, so the choppy seas are felt even more strongly from Falco's perch. He looks out and see nothing. Well, almost nothing - he thinks there is a ship in the distance a few miles away.
As the Rose comes about and slows, Tsak reaches out with his gaff hook to snag the floating anchor thing. To his surprise, the anchor clangs like metal when struck by the hook. He is able to use the hook to pull it close, but it takes some strength to actually pull the thing aboard! As he grabs it, it feels and weighs like a metal anchor - and yet it was somehow floating as if it were part of the wood debris. A short length of chain trails from one end.

Panzer swims amongst the wreckage that is here. He finds there is not much to really examine. What is here is fairly ordinary, and it's not clear what might have caused the wreck. The piece of sail tears as he touches it, and the rope is rotting. The condition of the wooden debris suggests it has been floating here for some time - parts are encrusted with sea life.
As Falco announces a ship in the distance, Kiwina tries to look for it. Kiwina thinks maybe he catches a glimpse as an occasional swell raises the ship. He concludes it must be a ways away if you have to be in the crows nest to see it well.
As the Petals examine the wreckage, they puzzle over the floating anchor. As Tsak and Mak haul it aboard, they quickly realize they only thought it was wood because it bobbed along in the water like the wooden pieces of the ship. In fact it is metal, and feels and looks like metal up close. It weighs a couple hundred pounds! It's also been here a while, and Tsak can see there are barnacles and other sea life encrusted on it.
Mak calls out "Anchors Aweigh" as he touches the thing.
Ayotnym, Kiwina and Beech cast Detect Magic on the anchor, and they detect Transmutation magic. It makes Kiwina think of the Ironwood spell, but different.

Tsak wonders if perhaps someone might cast a spell to make an anchor float to bring a ship to ruin. Indeed, that would be an interesting spell for an underwater race that did not like surface ships. He asks if anyone could see a name for the ship. Then he silently worries what would happen if the Petals actually faced an adversary like Panzer.
Ayotnom wonders if such a spell exists.
Panzer flies up on deck. He tells his friends this wreckage is old as the material here is fragile and the wood encrusted with sea life.
Mak is disappointed he was not able to command the anchor to sink again. (But kudos to Mak, as that would indeed have been a clever thing.)
Beech has some concerns about the old wreckage.
From his high perch, Falco keeps an eye on the distant ship. Kiwina is likewise concerned about the distant ship. He thinks that the wreckage here may remain a mystery. Indeed, the anchor may remain a mystery. It lays heavy on the deck though it floated in the water moments before.
To check this out, Panzer again takes to the air and he is able to see the distant ship for there. He and Falco can tell the ship seems to be sailing a somewhat parallel route to the Rose, but in the opposite direction.

Kiwina agrees and directs Ramsey to resume course. Ramsey barks some orders, and the ship is soon underway again.
Ayotnom wonders if the anchor changes weight when it's in water. Mak and Tsak can assure him that it was heavy while in the water, yet somehow it remained floating at the surface. As you look at the cloud, it continues to track with the ship as it tacks to take best advantage of the winds. It's undoubtedly following the ship, sometimes coming within about 100', and sometimes lagging back a bit, but falling no further than 200' distant. The crew is nervous about this thing.
Ramsey asks the Petals, "That thing's following us alright. It looks like a storm cloud, maybe heavy with rain. But it's smaller than I'd expect, and it's odd to see a cloud that seems to move by itself. What do you suppose it's doing? Do you think it's a threat?"
Some in the party seem ready to swim or fly out to the thing, but what do you do? Swimming out to it would soon leave you very far from the ship if the ship continues to sail.

Tsak says the cloud is probably doing reconnaissance for something else that wants to kill them. Then he tries to reassure the crew.
Aytonom, takes on the identity of a renowned Sci-Fi author, even as he remembers books from childhood.
Mak considers shooting into the cloud. The elementals he has encountered before have a generally humanoid shape, except for air elementals in whirlwind form. This simply looks like a small storm cloud about 40' across.
Panzer is sure he can dodge any lightning bolts that may come his way. Tsak and Falco take actions to get the ship turned around. Ramsey barks orders and the crew snap into action.
Kiwina wonders what this creature is and stands ready to help Panzer should something bad happen. Mak is quite unimpressed by a talking cloud and goes below deck.
Panzer is surprisingly adept in the water, given his heavy armor. He paddles about as he talks to the storm cloud, introducing himself and asking the cloud to come back to the ship with him.
Beech introduces himself as well, and asks it to be careful as it approaches their ship.
The cloud floats above Beech and Panzer. It replies, "Beech? You don't really look like a Beech. At least not a very good one. I am Barthooos. Falco cheerfully greets the cloud, doing his best to answer questions. Then he asks if Barthoos is limited to this area or if he is able to go anywhere.
Captain Kiwina tries to tread lightly with this talking cloud. He does his best to reassure the nervous crew. Tsak takes another approach, letting the crew know that if the Petals are accepting of someone, so should they be. He "encourages" them to see to chores on the ship and let the Petals handle the cloud.
Beech explains the difference between a beach, a beech tree and a liontaur named Beech. He tells Barthoos that it is the first talking cloud he's met.

Beech tells the cloud he can make lightning, as well as fire and cold, but it's really for destructive purposes only. He cautions the cloud about his gusts of wind. Then he makes a point in asking about the wreckage and especially the heavy, floating anchor. "Oh, I see things like that floating about all the time. It's really quite common." Further questions suggest Barthoos neither knows what an anchor is or why some things float and others don't. He has no idea or interest what might be below the surface of the water as it's simply an impenetrable barrier for a cloud.
Panzer tries to explain the different Tauric races to Barthoos, using the Petals as examples. Barthos replies, "Huh. Twooo legs, fourrr legs - it's alllll legs. I dooon't really seeee much difference between youuu allll."
Tsak tries to humor the talking cloud. Well, in between trying to keep the crew calm by focusing on shipboard tasks. Tsak can see that the crew has actually calmed considerably and steal curious glances at the cloud. They know the Petals are very powerful, and it's the Petals' interest in the cloud that seems to put them at ease.
Kiwina waxes poetic in responding to Barthos' question about sunsets. The cloud becomes quite excited at this. "Ahhh yesss. The colors, and that flash of greeeen. Youuu understaaand the valuuue of a sunsettt!"
Ayotnom asks the cloud if it is native to this plane. This results in a brief conversation that makes it clear that the cloud does not understand what a different plan is. In fact Barthoos seems to have a hard time discussing much geographically beyond land masses and open sea. You're not sure if it doesn't understand or doesn't care. But the cloud's resposne is animated enough to suggest he highly enjoys the interaction.
Falco senses this, and asks if he gets much company with his own kind. "Ohh, the otherrr clouds are quuuuite boring really. Theeeey driffft about, here and there. Theeeey care little forrr the seaaaa or the laaaand, going where the wiiind pushes themmm. But youuu … youuu alllll are funnnn. Whereee are weeee going now?"
The cloud Barthos will follow along for a while. While you can discuss things with him, he doesn't actually know much. Maybe he doesn't pay attention. Maybe he just doen't care. Maybe both.
You continue for another day, nearing the Isles (which one is your destination?)
You spot something ahead on your starboard side a fair ways out. It looks like a small boat, or maybe the wreckage of one. You're not sure. Any attempts to engage Barthoos about this debris meet indifference - Barthoos seems only interested in your boat and in talking to you.

Mak's day on the ship started at dawn as the first light of the sun peeked over the horizon, casting a warm glow on the tranquil waters. He awoke in his hammock, stretched his weary muscles, and dressed in his usual disheveled attire with the chain shirt pulled over the whole of it. Despite the state of his clothing, he made sure he was clean and ready for the day.
After a quick breakfast with the crew, Mak headed to his assigned tasks. He often started by helping to clean the deck. With a bucket of seawater and a scrub brush in hand, he worked methodically, his movements steady despite the constant ache in his leg. The rhythmic swish of the brush against the wooden planks was almost meditative, offering him a brief respite from his thoughts.
By mid-morning, it was his turn to take watch in the crow’s nest. Climbing the rigging was a slow and painful process due to his injured leg, but Mak managed it with grim determination. Once perched high above the deck, he scanned the horizon for any signs of land or other ships. The vast expanse of the sea stretched out before him, a seemingly endless blue that offered both solace and a reminder of his isolation. That the rogue cloud was still following them didn't seem to bother him much, he even thought to ask it a question or two but had second thoughts about doing so.
When his watch ended, Mak carefully descended to the deck. Afternoons were often filled with a variety of tasks, from repairing sails to assisting with navigation. His broad shoulders and upper body strength made him particularly useful when it came to hauling ropes and making adjustments to the rigging.
In between his duties, Mak found brief moments to rest. He often retreated to a quiet corner of the ship, where he sipped from his flask of mystery liquid to dull the constant pain in his leg. These moments were also a time for reflection, where he contemplated the journey ahead and the memories of battles fought and friends lost.
As the sun set, the crew gathered for the evening meal. Mak joined them, sharing stories and camaraderie. His aristocratic accent and smooth speech might have endeared him to the crew, at least he thought so, but it was the friendly banter with Tsak that kept him going. "Where does that chest poop?" he asked facetiously.
After his watch, Mak retired to his quarters. He carefully removed his chain shirt, which looked a bit too large for him, and settled into his hammock. On the topic of new wreckage, Falco had called down to his friends that the Petals should check it out
Mak, in going through his daily mantra, spent a very relaxing day, even when part of the sail he had been working on got pooped on my an errant seagull. The only "off" thing was they crew eyeballing him in chainmail armor while aboard the Rose in the middle of the ocean, but hey, he was an adventurer and they're weird anyway. Once Tsak is on the deck, mak teases him about where the mechanical chest goes "poop"
Beech flies off in the direction of the wreckage, reminding Barthoos to be careful in how he interacted with anybody alive
Kiwina prompts Captain Ramsey to slow the ship, which when Ramsey sees the wreckage actually brings the ship to a complete stop by slowly lowering the sails ... leaving the ship slightly rocking on the water ... with the wind quiet, the sounds of seagulls, the water lapping the sides of the ship, and something else can be easily heard
Panzer dives into the water again, to investigate the wreckage from underneath
Tsak makes sure the Rose doesn't smack into any of his friends, and vice versa, and also teases Mak about the chest utilizing Mak's room as a privy
Ayotnom mentions that the shape Barthos took, reminded him of Minotaur Isle, which Barthos found interesting, but not as interesting as the wreckage
In the general question of wreckage upon the waters, Barthos did mention before flying off that, "there are many boats on the watersss, some bigggggg, soooooome small. The small oneeeeees end up in pieces, not the biggggggger ones. None of them talk to me like youuuuuuu do."

The adult and younger minotaur’s are brought aboard and both look much healthier after a bout of healing energy rolls over them.
The older one, sitting on the deck, looks around, his face going from confusion, to concern, to understanding when he sees several of his ‘cousins.’ ”Thank you for saving us. I am Georon Truthheart, and this here is my savior and son, Coerkus. It is a grand thing that you found us as I am not sure I would have survived until night fall.” Looking around again, stands up on his own, and shakes his shoulders, then looks at his outfit, ”My wife is going to kill me. This was my best shirt. But no matter, she will be pleased that we are alive.” He looks up at the sky and frowns, ”The sun is not in the right spot, what day is it.” Coerkus answers, ”It’s been three nights father.” Georon pulls his son into a hug and then holds him against his right side. ”Three nights ago, a dense fog came up. We’d had a bountiful catch that day, and were celebrating. Once our songs had died down, and we had finished supper, we began to hear noises. Two vessels came out of the fog and attacked us. Pirates. Humans and Orcs triple damn them.” He spits on the deck, and then realizes there are humans around him. Blushing he continues, ”Sorry. Ferrick died first. We aren’t armed warriors, but we tried to defend ourselves. We tried to use alchemist fire, as we had a few bottles. The winds pushed the flames back upon us. I blacked out after that.” Coerkus clears his throat. ”The pirates laughed when they realized I was the only one alive, they thought my father was dead. They told me I’d be a tasty morsel for the sharks that would come visiting. I tied my father as high up as I could to keep him from drowning. I thought we were both dead, until I saw your cloud. He tried to talk to us, but two of the fishermen we work, well, worked with chanted prayers against evil, and he, it, left.” Looking around Coerkus asks, ”Do you have any water, what the ocean provides isn’t safe, and our supply ran out yesterday.”

Questions about the cloud from Beech and Kiwina, and other details are slowly answered, with Coerkus providing most of the information. Though healed, Georon got hit on the head pretty hard, and hasn’t fully returned to his normal self.
”We put out from our home on Minotaur Isle. Our village is close to the ocean, and we help each other beach our boats so they don’t get damaged during stormy nights. A few hours after the water changed colors is when I spotted the cloud. It was moving towards us, rather than away from us like the rest. When it began getting closer to us, I finally got the others to believe me that it was there. It barely got what I think was a ‘hello’ out, before the others in the boat began making signs and chanting wards to protect from evil. It didn’t look evil to me, and I was sad to see it go, as I don’t get to join on on the conversations the adults have. That first night we ancored near a small group of rocks. I always thought they were a mighty mountain that had been plunger under water. The adults always laughed at me. There was a small amount of fog in the morning, but it burned off within a few hours. We put out the nets, and then once we spotted some surfacing fish, we cast our lines. That first day was a good haul. Our boat had two bottoms, one of them had water in it, so we kept the fish alive until we got home, except for the ones we cut up and ate. The second day, we saw dolphins playing, but only caught a few fish in the nets, that night we lowered the sails, and put down our anchor. Father figured the boat would move some over the night, but he’s always able to find our way in the morning. That third day, the fog stuck around. Father and Rolf, they know about the ocean, so we slowly made our way through the fog, watching for more rocks, and fish that were closer to the ship. Around midday, we still couldn’t see much, we heard noises. To me they were strange. Father made a motion and the others went and got their spears. I hid behind some tackle. Two big boats came out of the fog. The orcs were howling for blood and fresh meat. The humans, were quieter but looked happy to have found us. Rolf died first. An orc hit him with a harpoon and pulled him overboard. Then they caught us. I tried to use the fire like father had shown me, but I threw it wrong, it ended up hitting our boat. The pirates killed the rest of the crew, thought they had killed father, and left me floating on the wreckage. Apparently they thought that was funny. That was three days ago. Mother must be worried about us, we never stay out this long.”

Captian Ramsey is able to slow, and stop the Rose before she hits the rocks. The smaller boat pulls aside and a rope ladder is sent over the side. The minotaur who climbs up is older, probably in his early 50's. His once black fur is beginning to turn silver and white. Looking over the party and the crew, his jaw drops, "Georon, Coerkus, your alive! Some wreckage washed up on shore night before last. It was from your ship. Your wife has been beside herself." He stops for a moment and gets an odd look on his face, "Coerkus, you may want to run ahead and see your mother, the tides out, so the water is shallow enough to swim and walk." Coerkus gives a loud shout, "Yes Estefan. Bye Petals, thanks for saving us." With that he dives over the side of the ship, disappears into a dark spot, then bobs back up whooping, and begins making his way towards the village. Estafan looks at Georon, the Petals, and the crew, "I didn't want to say this in front of the boy. That piece of wreckage was burned and covered in dried and wet blood. We weren't sure whose it was, or what had happened. Your wife is libel to kill you, and then make your life hell for a while. The other two wives will want to know where their men are." Looking around he nods as if he's made a decision, "Please disembark and visit our village. If Georon survives his wife, we will have a feast. Weird things have been heard of late, and I and the rest of our fishing village would like to know what is occurring in the Wold beyond our shores. OOC: Sorry guys, yesterday was not a fun day for me at work or home
IC: The feast includes all the crew, the Petals, and the villagers. The food is modest fare, many kinds of fish and shellfish. One delicacy seems to be almost rare abalone cut into thing strips and dipped into a green sauce, which is hot but also rather tasty. The home brewed ale and cider both help wash the food down. Apparently Georon's wife didn't kill him, as they are both present with their son, who seems to be busy chasing girls. As the night winds down with many tales of the sea, the children are all run off to bed or home. The Chief, Estefan lights a large handrolled cigar. "Friends and neighbors, we are all relieved to have two of our people returned to us. Our larder is open to whatever provisions you need, as well as clean water. This cloud you mentioned, I think several of us have encountered it, we thought it was something evil, but, if it helped find our friends, then a friend to us it will be. We thank you for the report of pirates, we'll be sending out our fishing vessels in twos or threes for a while." He takes a large inhale and then puffs out a smoke ring, "Now, while we don't know everything going on in the world, we have had word from traders on Liontaur Isle that something odd is happening. New faces, new people, have been seen in towns and in the wilderness. There was a full red moon last week, which hasn't happened in some time, which of course adds to the rumor mill. We can get a message to the Duke, but you may want to make your way over and check things out. Now, do you wish a cask or two of ale or cider or both to accompany you?"

Kiwina listens attentively to Chief Estefan's words, appreciating both the hospitality and the information being shared. He understands the importance of maintaining good relations with the villagers and sees this as an opportunity to ensure everyone's safety while gathering crucial information. After taking a moment to consider his response, Kiwina speaks.
"Chief Estefan, your generosity is greatly appreciated, and we're grateful for the provisions you're offering. As for the casks, a small one of each would be most welcome to share among us on our journey. Your home-brewed ale and cider are the finest we've tasted, and it will remind us of your kindness as we sail."
Kiwina pauses, glancing at his fellow adventurers before continuing. "Regarding the cloud, it seems wise to remain cautious. If any of your people encounter the cloud again, please treat it with kindness and respect, but also stay vigilant. We have seen that it is a bit naive and can in its enthusiasm accidentally create quite a wind."
"As you mentioned, the world is changing, and new faces and omens like the red moon can bring uncertainty. Sending out your fishing vessels in groups is a sound strategy, but it might also be worth keeping a lookout for any signs of trouble—whether it be pirates, strange travelers, or anything unusual." Kiwina tries to find about more about the timing of the red moon, to compare with the timing of their own moon adventure.
He then addresses his fellow adventurers directly. "I think it’s prudent that we follow the Chief's suggestion and head toward Liontaur Isle to investigate these new developments. I know the Duke may have more information, and it could help us understand the larger picture of what’s happening in the region, but visiting the Duke would delay reaching Liontaur Island. We should be prepared for anything, especially with the appearance of new people and the strange celestial events."
Kiwina returns his attention to the Chief. "Thank you for the warning about the rumors and the offer to send a message to the Duke. We'll be sure to look into this matter and do our best to keep everytaur safe. And if there's anything else you think we should know or any additional guidance you can offer, we would be glad to hear it."

Panzer shifts uncomfortably from foot to foot as the Petals discuss geography and Taur politics and things he doesn't know about. What he does know is combat.
He knows that the pirates that attacked the fishing boat were sloppy. They didn't check their kills leaving the final say to the sea. He knows that they sounded like they wouldn't care if there was one fishing boat or a dozen all fishing together. At most the got some fish and provisions from the boats, so likely, they did this for fun. Tough as they were, fishermen were not seasoned fighters. The fishermen never mentioned downing any of the pirates, he thinks that more ships together will only mean more dead fishermen. The minotaur were proud, but not dumb. They had to see what he sees.
{b]" I.... I don't think I am going to travel with you, whichever way you take."[/b] He blurts out as they argue semantics. " Look, It'll take you what, a week or so no matter how you go? That's a week of fishing for these guys. A week of not knowing if that pirate ship is going to happen upon them and kill another crew, or fleet at this rate. If they fight, they die. It seems as simple as that to me. The pirates are seasoned and doing this for kicks. While you sail on I am going to hang with these guys and fish for a week. I'm fishing for pirates. When you speak to the Duke and have a plan, or get a read on the rumors and goings on Beech can come fetch me. A few minutes at most and I can be back among you. But if the pirates attack the ships I am on, I can end them. "
He sits quietly and waits for the answer of the others.

Perhaps a couple of Petals could travel to the nearest mirror and use it to warn the duke. Meanwhile the rest could resume sailing on the Rose in the waters these people fish, looking for pirates? I don't like the idea of leaving Panzer here alone.

"I wonder if we could send fo some group to watch for the pirates while we travel to get more information. Further, Kiwina offers some insight into Barthos, and that sending out their fishing vessels in groups is a sound decision. Kiwina then proposes heading to Liontaur Isle, with getting a message to the Duke about what’s been happening.
Ayotnom proposes heading straight to the Duke, and then on to Liontaur Isle.
Panzer catches everyone off-guard by stating he wants to stay and go pirate hunting, rather than moving on, and someone can come back and grab him. Several older minotaur youth grin at the possibility of going “fishing” with the warrior badgerkin
Tsak considers the mirrors that the leaders of the Isles use to keep in touch, and offers that someone could go to the nearest one, and then he would stay to keep Panzer from taking all the credit for slaying the pirates
Falco ponders about asking for someone to come and help guard the fishing village and their ships while out at sea, and adds that ”us going out on the boats would be a fun surprise for the pirates.”

Georon can bee seen talking to several other men, and one female minotaur, all about the same age. They approach the group, with Georon as the spokestaur, "If we can see that big map of yours again, we might be able to point out where these other captains have seen strange boats, and you know where you found us, though we had drifted for some time..." The female captain steps forward, her voice is gruff, but also kind, "Me and me boys were out last week before Georon set out. We went north up the coast, almost to Fort Beast, then looked for the deep waters. While we were watching our nets, we saw several boats seeming to come from or past the Fort. We never go that far up, the fishermen in those parts don't like us skimming off their grounds," one of the other captains snickers, "There's one captain in those parts that would love for you to skim his grounds," which makes her shake her head, and the other four captains break out in laughter. They stop when the female captain looks at them all, "Your wives know who I am, and I know how to bribe them, so lay off, or you might wake up shaved." Although smiling, the other minotaur captains take a few steps back from the conversation.
Ramsey edged closer and listens to the ships that are described, "Yawls. Those are Yawls. In these waters any over 30' would be tough to manage." Looking up and taking a drag off his pipe, he thinks for a moment, "Maybe 20 to 30 lads on a boat that sized. Two would definitely ruin a fishing vessels day." When asked, none of the minotaur captains report seeing any kind of "colors" or other ship details.....

Does he have a jolly roger among them? Perhaps we use subterfuge of our own? Fly pirate colors, slip into the pirate harbor, figure out who runs the place then take them out? Alternatively if Fort Beast is an outpost of one of the Taur governments then I wonder if they are shirking their duty with respect to keeping the sea free of pirates. There are too many unknowns for Tsak, he's reconsidering his options. Reporting to the Duke that "umm there might be a pirate problem" seems weak and uninformed. Sailing the Rose on seas the pirates probably know better than them isn't in the Petals favour. Sailing into an unknown port under a pirate flag doesn't appeal in any way. He digs into his memory from previous times on Minotaur Island.
Fort Beast is the largest town on the Island, it's the most likely place to get more information. It's unlikely to be a pirate haven. Turning up there in disguise might work. Turning up as the Petals and asking questions without checking in with the Duke first would, I think, be a slight against him and percieved poorly.

Panzer is growing dizzy listening to the same arguments over and over. He is ready to just swim to castle Violet at this point. He walks across the room and takes Georon's hand, He quietly but relentlessly ushers the Taur over to Beech's side and rests Georon's hand on Beech's saddlebags. " Please hold on to this strap." he says and steps away. He then walks over to Kiwina and takes the Centaur's hand. He walks back to Beech while Holding Kiwina's hand. He also grabs a strap on Beech's harness and simply says " Go."

Falco listens as the group kind of loses the thread of what is they are doing to do and he shakes his head. "Yes, some of you go to the Duke, we will wait here for your return. We are going to get nowhere like this."

Beech quips, "Be back in a bit" With those two in tow, Beech pictures the area just outside the building where the mirrors are kept. Keeps it focused in his mind and casts the spell, Greater Teleport. The world seems to squeeze them through a tiny hole, and then releases them at his chosen location. "I hate that feeling of being squeezed, but with my muscles continually rotating and shifting around it probably has less effect on me than on you two...."

Kiwina understands the value of diplomacy, especially when dealing with local authorities. He knows that acting unilaterally without informing the Duke could mean missing valuable information but could also strain relationships with a valuable ally.

He looks at Mak and Panzer While we wait we could check the hold, make sure all that cider and ale hasn't moved around at all. Be dangerous if it wasn't secured properly.

JonS Co-DM - "Pirate Hunting" Thursday August 15th, 2024 12:06:03 PM
Panzer had started a conversation in regards to Fort Beast, and if it would support pirates and the like
Ayotnom adds his two coppers by adding that “If the fort is freebooting, we may be in over our heads, otherwise someone is shirking their duties…”
Tsak adds that, “of the three forts, Beast is the largest, and it is doubtful it’s a pirate haven
Kiwina also adds that “as the island is unified under Minotaur rule, it’s doubtful is pirates would be operating here, not unless they have found a safe haven somewhere close by”
Mak continues listening to everything being discussed
With all the cussing and discussing, Panzer takes the lead and walks both Georon and Kiwina by the hand, and have them hold on for dear life to Beech’s saddlebags.
Falco approves of this as he talks about “no one is going nowhere if we keep talking”
Beech says, ”Be back in a bit.” and then he and the two holding onto him seem to twist and then with a “POP” vanish. Several of the villagers make signs to ward off evil, while others just stand their with their mouths open in disbelief.
All this is broken up when some of the children mob Panzer, ”I want to go next, no me, no I’m oldest I should get to go…” and this proceeds until Panzer chooses to shoo the children away
