Lothlo takes a deep breath and looks around the room to make sure the danger has really passed. Muuru is an imposing figure so Lothlo decides to play the roll of good cop to try to soften the up up a little in the hopes they will be a little more forthcoming in their answers.

[/b]Thankfully, Ms. Kane was kind enough to tell us that it was her "pet" that's been terrorizing the City for the last few days, and we witnessed her involvement in all this first hand. I don't think there is much point in hiding things at this point, I would suggest answering Muuru's questions so we can tell them you were cooperative with the investigation.

Paige finds a number of interesting knickknacks and doo-dads, but nothing more powerful than a cantrip.... If you are comfortable with looting the shop.

The shop attendants do not object to being trussed with rope. "Ms. Kane wanted to keep her piece of the Scar Scroll out of the hands of Duncan. They had been working together for quite some time to research the Scar, and when she found the fragment she cut off contact, fearing Duncan would try to take it from her."

He clears his throat. "Ms. Kane has been using the energies of the Scar to augment her powers. She always spoke of her "pet," but we did not have a chance to really see it. I believe it escaped her control as soon as it arrived, and she is still proud of it despite its independence from her influence."

To Paige, "Err, uhm, as far as I know, yes. It was a rather powerful summons, from what she described, but there is always the chance it ran into something even more powerful. Maybe."

To Zarsellet, "Ms. Kane always kept it on her person." He motions to the body on the floor. "She probably has it even now."

Burton is able to find the scrap of the Scar Scroll. It matches to be a perfect match to the scrap currently owned by the party. It also has the same indecipherable (currently) script.

To Lothlo, "I-I'm sorry. We really don't know. Ms. Kane always described it in rather broad and esoteric terms. Her 'genius,' her 'magnum opus,' her 'revelation.' We never actually saw it. Likely because it escaped her control, but she still admired it from afar."

To Naithi, Ms. Kane feared Duncan getting hold of her research, so she kept everything in a small journal. I haven't seen it in a while, but she might have it in her robes."

Lo and behold, the party finds a journal next to the Scar Scroll scrap. It would likely take some time to properly comb through its pages.

Rhys has his question answered.

Muuru does not detect anything that Paige and Burton have not already identified.

The news that they couldn't control it is still terrifying to Lothlo.
So, she can't control it but was still going to summon it here again? Did you have any reason to think it wasn't going to do the same thing to you that it's been doing on the street? Or any way you were protecting yourselves from it's very violent tendencies?

We need to make sure the guards are aware that this kind of creature is probably still wandering about somewhere.

Paige is distracted by the scrap of ‘Scar Scroll’, and looks over Burton’s shoulder. Something about it seems familiar. ”That script looks similar to the writing on the scroll we retrieved from the Blue Cave. An Angel had been guarding that scroll, but gave it over to us when convinced we could look after it.”. The cleric tugs at one ear as she thinks, then continues. ”We gave the scroll over to the Black Cathedral for safe keeping. The clerics of Gargul have it squirrelled away in a vault - all right and tight. I wonder what this piece is?!”

No longer interested in any monsters that might be roaming at large in the City, the cleric asks her companions: ”Rhys, Kwarsk, Zarsellet, Muuru - you all remember the scroll from the Blue Cave? What do you make of this?” The elf jabs a finger in the direction of the scrap of parchment held by Burton.

To Lothlo, "Oh, she couldn't have summoned it again. The only reason she could summon it in the first place is by tapping into the energies of the Scar. I think she was trying to summon a more mundane demon just now."

To Rhys, "If you found another scrap... Well, that's very exciting news. Ms. Kane had a scrap and Duncan has a scrap. They spent several months collaborating to research the Scar. She became very guarded and cut off contact with Duncan after finding her scrap, believing he would try to take it from her. We determined there were three pieces in total, assuming there is only one scroll in the set. She hoped to somehow obtain his scrap, or at least a copy of it, to decipher the script."

Zarsellet barely does more than glance at the scrap. He hadn't thought about the other scroll. Or was it just a piece of a whole scroll. "I think that needs to be taken to the Black Cathedral and compared to the other. If it's two parts of the whole, maybe they both need to be stored away before someone else uses them to summon something even worse, and sets it loose on the city, or the world!"

”Naithi, If it’s anything like the scroll we already turned over to Berem at the Black Cathedral it will be indecipherable. They had several attempts at it to no avail. My guess is that until all three parts are united, the scrolls will be nothing but Kobold scratching…meaningless gobblygook!”.

The elf wipes away the last of the blood and oil from his blade and considers whether to try and purchase an additional vial of Oil of Bless Weapon[ before going on whatever patrol they intend to conduct. ”Does anyone know what might attract a fiend or demon? It may help us narrow our search, or maybe even be useful as bait.

Lothlo scratches his head.
There is still one question I have that will bug me if I don't ask. When we washed away the summoning circle, I saw that the circle appeared to deactivate, but the spell was able to continue. Did erasing the circle affect the summoning spell at all or were we too late for it to make a difference?
Besides just being curious, Lothlo wants to know just in case Duncan has similar plans to summon a "pet" of his own.

Burton and Fingers check her study, but find nothing. It appears she kept all of her notes consolidated as a security measure. You will likely need several hours to properly read her journal.

Kwarsk sends for the town guard. The shop attendants are more than willing to be bound, and it is little trouble to find some cordage in the storeroom.

One of the store attendants speaks up when Lothlo asks a question. "Oh, umm, the circle is not required for the spell to summon a creature. The circle is required to contain the summoned creature so that the caster can attempt to exert control. I think Ms. Kane wasn't worried about controlling her summons after you broke in the store."

The town guard arrives, takes your report regarding the situation, and escort the shop attendants to the nearest garrison for further questioning.

You are still at the Blue Curtain, sans owner and employees. You have the Scar Scroll scrap and a journal that will require quiet study for several hours. What would you like to do?

”Captain Garrick said his primary concern was putting a period to the existence of the latest creature terrorizing the quarters of Plateau City.” Paige volunteers, adding ”that’s what I’m prepared for today.”.

Much as the cleric is obsessed with Duncan, she believes more needs to be found out before Clarisse’s ex is confronted by the party. Besides, it’s probably getting too late for making social calls!

”The murder site in the Trade Quarter yielded no clues, right? We don’t really know where this creature is - so one quarter is as good as another. What say you we kill two birds with one stone and check out the Scar? The clerks said Ms. Kane was channeling the power of the Scar…whatever that power was… so maybe the creature has some connection to the place. Since Clarisse is always hanging around that part of Nightmare Quarter…maybe we’ll find her there and be able to ask her some questions?”

The half-elf suggests the Blue Curtain be locked up. ”Dunno if Ms Kane’s ‘creation’ might try to return…”

Lothlo looks up at the sky and tries to judge what time it currently is.
Does anyone remember what time was the last attack was at? Odds are the creature will be out attacking around the same time each day it attacks, and we want to make sure we are at our peak when this happens. I'm ready to patrol now if it's the right time.

Is the Patch or the Black Cathedral on the way there? It would be good to drop the items off somewhere safe while we're patrolling. In fact, the priests could even get a head start on the book.

The party locks up the Blue Curtain the best that they can, considering the front door has been knocked off its hinges.

You pass by the Black Cathedral on the way, and find an acolyte to pass the scroll scrap and journal to Clarisse. The acolyte promises to deliver them swiftly and securely.

The Scar covers a sizable geographic area. Does the party have any particular area or avenue of approach they would like to attempt?

Paige can answer Naithi’s question! ”The Scar is an area within the Nightmare Quarter that is cursed to remain in ruins. When we…” she points to Rhys, Kwarsk and Muuru …first arrived in Plateau City, we were recruited by Berem, the guy in charge of the Bureau of Administrative Affairs at the Black Cathedral. The BofAA is a division of the cathedral tasked with the ‘cleansing’ of the Scar is how Berem described it. Clarisse has been our point of contact outside the cathedral, but so far it’s been pretty easy to get in to see Berem, and harder to get a-hold of Clarisse.”

Paige looks at her older mates for corroboration - then continues. ”Clarisse seems to be spending a lot of time filling in ‘holes’ that pop up spontaneously in the confines of the scar. She’s got a pretty tragic background, too.”

The cleric will explain that ‘back in the day’ Clarisse ran with a team led by Duncan, but the group had a falling out and Duncan turned violent. It seemed to happen over a quest for a scroll (that the Patcher’s subsequently found). Clarisse has visions, but doesn’t seem to remember much, and doesn’t have anything to do with her ‘ex’ anymore. The cleric of Gargul seems to be getting more and more vague as time goes on. ”She’s got a bad smoking habit, and seems to subsist on donuts and coffee.” Paige volunteers, shaking her head.

”Anyway, I don’t know if Berem’s idea of rehabilitating the Scar and turning it into a tourist destination is feasible…but who knows? If Ms Kane was drawing power from the area, it’s worth checking out. Maybe we’ll find Clarisse and be able to ask her some questions? Maybe we’ll find a monster?”

Lothlo listens as they explain what they know about the Scar.
Well, that does sounds like the kind of place that our "pet" could be hiding. Most likely it's deep enough inside the scar to avoid casual observation. From the damage we saw at the crime scene there is a good chance this creature isn't worrying about not leaving a trail, so it may be worth just walking around the outskirts and seeing if we can see any signs of damage or fighting that could point us in the right direction.

I can't imagine that whatever the thing is it would be silent, or that anyone seeing it wouldn't scream. Anybody spotting it could move in, making lots of noise so everyone else joins. ??"

”The Scar is pretty big. If the creature is hiding in there it will likely have to come out to the edge to feed, so patrolling the edge might lead us to tracks if not the creature itself.”

(OOC the scar can be seen on the map of the Nightmare Quarter).

”If we go in pairs, we will need a way to signal each other should one of us find it. Some kind of light or flare that we could send up. Perhaps a fire arrow or some such thing. I could soak some rags in oil and wrap them around some arrows.” Rhys offers as a suggestion.

Zar and Kwarsk had talked about buying whistles earlier today; did we ever get them? Is there any place open that sells them? If not, we could use Rhys' fire arrows.

Although shooting those around inhabited buildings could be dangerous. I've got half a dozen sunrods if anyone wants. Maybe Paige can cast light on a few arrows; they should last at least half an hour, right, Paige?

During the conversation about contacting each other Burton will offer that he knows the 'Continual Flame' spell, but he hasn't got it learned at the moment. When they had some down time Burton could cast it on arrows or other items. However, he can only cast it on one object at a time but if Fingers doesn't know it Burton might be able to teach him the spell. Burton will explain that the spell creates a permeant flame like effect but it will not burn anything.

Kwarsk says, "In an emergency an arrow with a Light spell might be good, but things usually aren't very noisy or crowded at night outside of certain business types so I think the signal whistles are a cheap solution and everyone can carry one. Just keep in mind that if two pairs of us are attacked at once, two whistles going off could be confusing to the other pairs. Maybe the first group in trouble blows the whistle, and a later group in trouble sends up a Light arrow?

Of course, we might just want two groups, say myself, Paige, Burton, and Fingers in one, and Naithi, Rhys, Zarsellet, and Lothlo in the other?

I advise against pairs just because some of these foes have seemed so deadly that two might not be enough...

In the meantime Zarsellet, what say you and I make a stop by the market to pick up 8 signal whistles, enough for everyone?

Kwarsk and Zarsellet stop by a local vendor who, wonder of wonders, has 8 signal whistles for sale. 'Whistlin' Pete's Whistle Emporium' is happy to accept your custom. Pete's children will not go hungry this week.

Arriving at the Scar, the party decides to stay together more or less. You patrol for perhaps and hour, winding your way through the labyrinthine streets. Your eyes and ears are very perceptive, and you hear a cry. Someone is calling for help a few streets over.

Rounding a corner, you see a child in the distance. It is under a street lamp some 80 feet away. It is crouched down, holding it's head, and you hear soft plaintive cries. You cannot see any details due to a hood pulled over it's face.

Paige thinks Kwarsk’s idea of 2 groups is good, and is ready to go with his suggestion. However, before the Patcher’s can implement a plan, there is a cry for help. Paige is surprised to see a child (or what appears to be a child) out at this time of night in or around the Scar.* Maybe it’s one of the orphans? Wallid and Sister Bonnie really need to implement a curfew on those kids!

Sensing that something is ‘off’, the cleric casts Bless on the group, before folks get ideas and start rushing about.

As you approach the child winces and draws back, but then sees your faces and let's out a cry. "It's you! Please!" The hood comes back and you recognize Musetta from the orphanage. The elven girl has been bawling and is on the verge of hyperventilating. You see her face and clothes are spattered in blood. "It- It- It's attacking the orphanage! I think it killed- killed Walid. I saw him on the ground and he wasn't moving. The others ran to the back room and locked the door. It's trying to get them! Please. Please you need to help them! Oh, gods. The laughing..." She collapses and begins sobbing.

Musetta starts describing her ordeal in a panicked voice going a mile a minute.

"We ate dinner and we were sitting around and talking and playing games, you know, like, normal stuff, then it kicked in the front door. The door went bam and it came in. Some of the kids yelled for Walid, but then everyone started screaming. It was really scary. It kinda looked like a man, but not. It had clothes and stuff but it was different. It had big claws and glowing yellow eyes, and it was really scary. Really, really scary. The scariest thing I've ever seen. So scary that it was hard to look at it. It kept laughing. Like, this weird giggling laugh. It would slash someone with its claws and then just stand there and watch them while they screamed. Then it would slash them again. And laugh. We couldn't run away, we all just panicked and screamed. I only got out because Myron actually pushed me out the front door when he was trying to get away from its claws, but he wasn't trying to get out of the building, he was just running around the room."

ooc: Since Naithi didn't take the orphan with her, Zarsellet (40lb gnome) can hitch a ride on Camalayaas with Naithi. Her mule also has room, but the speed is only 30ft instead of 40.)

Before the group is in hearing range of the orphanage Naithi casts guidance on Camalayaas and Speak with Animals on herself. As they approach the building Naithi notices that Camalayaas is being too noisy with her footsteps, but with some gentle signals Camalayaas is able to mine along a more quiet path and move with the group quietly... Or at least more quietly that Kwarsk.

Thanks to the kindly assist by Naithi, every member of the party is able to make it to the orphanage at roughly the same time. Kwarsk and Muuru approach the front door, while Rhys circles around to the back. All is still, all is silent, and you do not see anyone inside.

(There is no fog of war because you have previously visited this location. However, I will not reveal tokens until you are within line of sight. As far as you can tell all the doors inside are closed. The front entrance is on the southern end of the building. The second story is beneath your current position on the map. We are now acting in rounds.)

Zarsellet does an excellent job of calming Musetta. Her hyperventilating ceases and then turns into a whimper as she observes from around a nearby corner.

Paige swings around the back of the orphanage. Her senses are perceptive, but do not detect anything beyond what the rest of the party has noticed.

Kwarsk moves forward at the head of the party. Everything is still silent and empty. He does not see anyone, but sees the evidence of their previous presence. Half-eaten food, half-empty cups, a dying fire. He hears a whimpering sound coming from inside the building, but cannot pinpoint exactly where.

On sighting the orphanage Zarsellet stops to speak quietly with Musetta. "Now you've got a really important job. You have to stay out here and watch to be sure that nobody comes in behind us. You take this whistle" He hands her his whistle. "and if you see anything really important. I don't mean like somebody walking by or rats in the street. If you see somebody important, that we need to know about, entering behind us. Well, then you blow that whistle, really hard. But!.... Then you run around to the other side of the building and hide, so whoever it is can't find you. We'll come out after we've checked the building and know that it's safe."

He pauses and waits for a second, then looks her straight in the eyes to emphasize the importance. "Remember that you have to stay safe. Watch. But don't risk yourself. Risk is what we do. OK?" He waits again for a nod, then moves toward the building to rejoin his friends.

All quiet so far, somehow that just makes this all the worse.
Lothlo takes a step to the side so he has line of sight on the stair case and readies a volley should an unwanted creature try to descend on them while they search the floor. With the silence, he pays extra attention for sounds indicating where the creature is.

Zarsellet gives instructions to Musetta before heading toward the entrance of the orphanage. Paige and Rhys make their way around the exterior of the building. The rest of the party continues their way into the interior of the building.

As you continue moving forward you hear a sharp whimper from upstairs, followed by a wave of what feels like compressed air flowing over your skin.

Rhys hears the mewling from somewhere upstairs in the orphanage and begins to head up the stairs. Despite his plans to hold back and provide support from a distance in case fear overcomes others like in the previous encounters they heard of, Lothlo finds himself being drawn deeper into the building almost as if someone else is guiding him, and before he knows it he is overcome by a sense of dread that shakes him to his core.

Naithi feels a wave of come wash over her, but Camalayaas strong presence gives her strength and she snaps out of it. She then recalls the simpler she heard and immediately directs Camalayaas up stairs, fearing the worst for the kids.

As Camalayaas climbs the stairs Naithi begins growing more muscular. With her spell like abilities her body changes as if the bulls strength spell was cast on her.

Naithi will save = 15 (18 with inspire courage and bless)
Camalayaas will save = 28
(Against mind affecting, both the Lost Child and Sibling roll to save. If either saves, both resist the attack

Actions: Naithi uses Bulls Strength SLA while riding Camalayaas up stairs.

Paige is able to resist the fear affect (Will save = 18+12+2 courage from Zarsellet +1 bless = 33) and moves (to P17) in order to help those who haven’t been so fortunate. She channels remove fear through the symbol of Domi hanging ‘round her neck and delivers the boost to Burton and Lothlo and anyone (Kwarsk?) else within her range.

remove fear. Burton, Lothlo and possibly one other individual - If the subject is under the influence of a fear effect when receiving the spell, that effect is suppressed for the duration of the spell. Remove fear counters and dispels cause fear. 10 minutes.

The cleric does not want to be caught in a line-up going up the stairs to reach the second floor! However, that appears to be where the trouble lies. Paige sprints up the stairs, squeezing by her comrades, but moves to a position against the wall beside the door (the side opposite the hinges) so that she is not in the way of those going through. (OOC: can the DM please place Paige’s marker?)

Naithi prepare for the worst as the door opens. She intends to do whatever she can to save the children. If the creature has a child in it's grasp she will use disarm to get it to drop them. If that is not applicable she will try to disarm any weapon or magic devices it has. If not applicable, she will grapple the monster if it looks like it can be grappled and isn't made of acid or something like that.

Actions:
Camalayaas charges into the room.
Camalayaas acrobatics check = 19 to avoid obstacles or an AoO

Naithi Rice checks = 29 and 28 (can be used to evade one attack is Camalayaas is attacked using mounted combat) or for Naithi to dodge an attack, but she will not do so unless it is a life threatening attack and the children are not in immediate danger.

CMB to disarm / free kids from enemy = 30 (25+1 bless+2 inspire courage+2 bulls strength)
If there is no one to free or items to disarm she will grapple it if applicable.

Naithi prepare for the worst as the door opens. She intends to do whatever she can to save the children. If the creature has a child in it's grasp she will use disarm to get it to drop them. If that is not applicable she will try to disarm any weapon or magic devices it has. If not applicable, she will grapple the monster if it looks like it can be grappled and isn't made of acid or something like that.

Actions:
Camalayaas charges into the room.
Camalayaas acrobatics check = 22 to avoid obstacles or an AoO

Naithi Rice checks = 28 and 18 (can be used to evade one attack is Camalayaas is attacked using mounted combat) or for Naithi to dodge an attack, but she will not do so unless it is a life threatening attack and the children are not in immediate danger.

CMB to disarm / free kids from enemy = 27 (22+1 bless+2 inspire courage+2 bulls strength)
If there is no one to free or items to disarm she will grapple it if applicable.

Zarsellet discovers the privy. It is empty.
Lothlo readies himself to defend against ambushes.

Kwarsk opens the southern door and advances the plot!
Naithi stands ready.

Kwarsk opens the door leading to Walid's study. Inside the room is a surreal scene. Several orphans cower on the floor, shaking and gibbering in abject terror as tears roll down their cheeks. Seated at the head of the small table is a macabre figure. It appears to be a gaunt man with stringy black hair. His teeth are sharp and jagged, pointing out of his mouth at odd angles. His nails are elongated claws. His eyes are pitch black without irises. He is dressed in a bizarre longcoat and tophat of gaudy green and purple stripes.

The figure looks at you and smiles a nasty, greasy smile. "Boo!"

You feel the same flood of panic and fear as when you first entered the building.

The figure stands and flings the chair behind him, baring his claws in challenge.

Rhys feels another wave of fear roll over him but manages to throw it off (OOC used a hero point to add 4 to roll of 17). The elf then takes a five foot step and attacks the Bogeyman twice, hitting AC 24 and AC 16 for 10 and 15 hp. (Rhys had entered the room the previous round and should now be at O36)

Paige squeezes past Kwarsk and slips into the room. She hasn’t got a clue what the creature is (no training/ranks in Knowledge Nature), however she does hear Zarsellet identify it as a Bogeyman and is able to resist it’s malignant aura (d20=13+12+2 from Z’s inspire courage +1 from bless = 28, success vs 18). Channeling through her holy symbol she casts remove fear on the 3 nearest orphans* and tells them to run for the door. Hopefully the cleric and her companions near the door can shield the kids from the fey creature. (OOC: Please place Paige just inside the door so she is not blocking it!)

(OOC - Kwarsk has +9 vs Fear, +2 from Inspire Courage for +11, spends a Hero Point before the roll for +8 (thanks for the reminder Carla!) for a total of +19 to the roll = 20, which is a Natural 1 so Kwarsk fails and is Shaken.

Shaken is "Shaken: A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. Shaken is a less severe state of fear than frightened or panicked." So, everyone should take their post as normal, even if their save is failed. (If you want to not act, you're free to do so, but your PC does not lose their turn.))


Kwarsk is astonished at the sight of the creature and no longer feels so Inspired by Zarsellet's song. (OOC - Shaken and Inspire Courage +2 exactly cancel each other out.)

Kwarsk summons his inner Ki and Moves past Rhys, Naithi, and the creature!

Moved 15', cutting off the creature's escape.
Ki Defense +4 Dodge bonus to AC, stacks with everything. 1 point. This lasts for 1 round (until Kwarsk's next post). Ki now at 3 of 5, as noted in header.
Mobility +4 AC vs. Attacks of Opportunity, also stacks.

AC 34 (not a typo) vs. the AoO Kwarsk just gave the Bogeyman. AC 30 when it comes around to Bogeyman's actual turn.

Moving on to attacking the Bogeyman, Kwarsk is Shaken (-2), Inspired (+2, Competence), and Blessed (+1, Morale) so his attack bonus is 10 + 1 = +11.)


Kwarsk tests his foe, swinging his Waraxe in an overhead chop while maintaining accuracy, and tries hard to cut deep but isn't sure if he's had any effect.

Naithi stares at the Bogeyman before her as she rides Camalayaas into combat. The last Bogeyman she fought, in The Culverwood looked like a butcher in a black leather apron or radiation suit. It provided ample leather to fashion into something more feminine and fey like...

I would be more afraid if I wasn't wearing the coat of the last Bogeyman I ate. And then attempts to bite the Bogeyman, unfortunately her jaw likely closes on nothing but air.

Lothlo shakes off the mental vision and composes himself. If Shaken would last more than one round he will shove his golden frosted gingerbread reindeer cookie into his mouth ( grants remove fear... which I have already, but since I failed my roll the cookie will suppresses the affects the rest of the fight ), then he runs into the room and fires an arrow at the terrifying creature inside.

Burton freezes in fear.
Zarsellet supports the team with a use of bardic performance.
Lothlo fires an arrow, hitting the bogeyman squarely.
Rhys shakes off the fear and advances. He swings once, connecting, then swings again and misses widely.
Muuru tries to strike the creature, but cannot land a hit.
Paige lifts the magical fear of several orphans. They flee the room.
Kwarsk manages to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge around the table, avoiding any reprisal from the bogeyman. He tries to land a hit, but misses.
Naithi attempts to grapple the bogeyman, but falls short of success. Camalayaas tries to bite, but just hits air.

The bogeyman grins a broad rictus in response to the pain of your blows. He slashes his claws twice at Naithi in front of him.

You can see that your strikes do not seem to hurt him as much as you would expect, and his wounds seem to knit back together a small amount over time.

Naithi watches as the Bogeyman's claws swipe out at her. She immediately drops along the side of her saddle to avoid the first attack. When the second attack hits she makes up her mind. Just so you know, I'm going to turn you hat into a purse after we kill you. Everyone will comment on how cute it is!

ooc: I'll post my actions tomorrow, but I didn't want anything to think I was dying just yet. I'll also make sure I didn't miss any ac bonuses tomorrow

Rhys slides 5 feet to his right to get into a flanking position with Kwarsk (Now at N 36) and swings once more with his longsword (Hit AC 30 for 14 HP plus 5 HP vital strike = 19 HP Total).
