The Blight Witches

The Blight Witches: Turn 1
Monday November 10th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Gareth bows stands, bows low and says to Helo as she leaves "Thank you, I look forward to our next meeting." To the group he says "Lets go back to the inn and plan a strategy. I suspect it won't be real easy to pull this off." He impatiently waits for the others to put on their clothes and then heads back to the Giggling Ghost.

Talvik will leave being escorted by Nonam and Jus. "Good bye to you lovely ladies!" He says looking over his shoulder. Then he turns to the party and chuckles. " They liked me, I can tell." Tal will add picking up his gate to walk with the others. "I agree with Onrad. I think tonight would be an excellent time to 'visit' these witches." He will say nodding in acceptance.

Onrad says nothing until the group arrives at the Giggling Ghost.

When the party enters, Daphne is nowhere to be seen.

Happy enjoins the party to take a table and he'll bring supper.

Onrad speaks, "I agree with Talvik. We can do a reconnaissance of their residence and see what we can discover about their habits. We could also give our thieves a chance to make contact with the thieves guilds. That's a source of information we cannot dare to ignore."

"I agree, Talvik says. After dinner though, I'd like to go to the merchant level, and find out some information about these witches through the guild. I'd rather contact the guild first and learn what we can before scouting the premises." Tal will say to the group. "Maybe they can provide me with a layout of the place." he will add.

Nonam says, "I'd definitely like to memorize some different spells before hitting the Witches or doing a reconnaissance. What I have though is more suited to a spy mission than an assault so I won't disagree.

Tony says: No problem.....Ha Ha Ha...a little cold water now and then is good for you...LOL.

Jerry says: I didn't receive turns from Keith or John.

Jerry says: I'm working on experience for the time starting with the turtle barge up until now. I'm thinking that I may start doing weekly experience when I get caught up. There's 80 pages to read between then and now.

Jerry says: Any thoughts on weekly experience?

Jerry says: If anyone is interested in receiving files of the Floating City so far, or of the first adventure, just ask. I have it all.

See yall tomorrow.

Jerry

The Blight Witches: Turn 2
Wednesday November 12th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Gareth asks "Where's Daphne? I miss her company."

Jus asks Happy where if Daphne is okay and where she is.

Talvik will take up a seat with the group. "Where's Daphne?" He will ask looking around?

Happy says, "Geez she has a life of her own you know. Now me on the other hand. I'm always here."

Finally, Tal will try to get someone's attention to order dinner.

While eating, Talvik will turn to Theory, "Lad, what's the shortest route to the merchant level?" Theory says, "Try the stairs that have the big sign 'This way to the Merchant Level' I'm sure you remember how to get to them. Are you sure that the guild that you're looking for is there? Somehow I doubt it. Personally I'd go to the Trash Level."

Tiburon slowly eats his food and says to the group " So far we have been exceptionally lucky, if we want to stay that way I think we need to plan very carefully and try to think of as many contingencies as possible. I know we want to do this without alerting the Witches, but what will we do if the catch us in the act ? I, myself will start by casting a silence 15' radius at them then try to use Hold Person on them. Does anyone have any problem with that or better Idea ? What is everyone else proposing to do ? "

Nonam says, "I plan on going to sleep. Seriously, if the Blight Witches catch us, I say we just catch their house on fire and run. That's usually worked for me in the past."

Tiburon listens to everyone and when the discussion is finished says " I need to go prepare myself now. I will see everyone here in the inn before we go. Good night. "

Tiburon starts to go upstairs.

Flaust excuses herself for the evening and retires to her room. Gareth also encourages "I think you guys have a great idea on the information thing. I'll rest until you get back." With that Gareth gets up and heads to bed.

Nonam gets up and heads to bed too.

Onrad says, "Hey wait everyone!" Everyone stops and looks at Onrad, and he continues "There's no way one of us by himself should go out at night. Yeah that's a great way to get us killed. Simple divide and conquer. We're an adventuring GROUP. We do things together! I say we all go. We could all use some work on our stealth if we're going to be adventuring in cities much. Talvik can instruct us. Our strength is in being together!"

Onrad continues: "I hated it when we were separated this afternoon. I just knew something bad was going to happen. I say, never again. That was the mistake the Black Blades made. They were separated. We were together. We won...."

Onrad stops mid-sentence. "Geez, I'm lecturing aren't I? Sorry. I just feel strongly about this."

Nonam says, "Look I'm tired. I don't want to go to a thieves guild. Plus from what I've heard there's more than one in this town, and they all hate each other. What if we get the one the Black Blades' thief belongs to. Won't that cause some trouble. Do you think that they'd would let us all in?"

Jus says, "Tal, I'm surprised at you and Onrad. I thought talking of the guild so openly was considered bad etiquette. As for preparation, I'll be glad to take a watch for Nonam to prepare, and any others that need it."

To Nonam, Jus openly asks, "Helo mentioned you went around the house of our marks. You seemed a bit uncomfortable about this -- as I'm sure most of us noticed. What happened? Everything okay?"

Nonam says, "Yeah I went and looked at the Blight Witches place. It seemed the best way to get information to me, but I didn't want to argue about it. They live in a regular looking house. Gareth could knock down the front door if Talvik couldn't pick the lock. I only saw one of the Blight Witches. She looked like a feeble old lady. It's hard to tell about magic users though. Oh yeah, I also went in and took this." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a glowing ring. Onrad drops his mug on the floor and gasps, and then Nonam says, "Just teasing. This is my own ring. Not even magic. Just me touching it makes it glow. You know. Seriously though, let me show all of you what the place looked like. I doubt this will help much, but this should be extremely accurate... except for the size of course."

Nonam begins to cast a spell. A miniature version of the Blight Witches' house appears and floats in the middle of the room.

As it floats there, Nonam asks, "Are we going to the thieves' guild or not? Let's vote."

David has a new e-mail address.

Jerry reminds everyone: We can't split up anymore. though that may cause some problems, it will cause fewer than sending out separate e-mails to all the different groups. So we either all have to go out and look for the thieves' guild or we all have to not.

JK says: John's back from his secret mission.

The Blight Witches: Turn 3
Friday November 14th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Onrad sits back ordering a drink and some stew while waiting to see what everyone else thinks.

"Onrad, I think I'll join in the lecturing", Jus begins. "We are a group, at least we try to be. I agree we should all be together. However, I think time is slipping faster than a loose knot on a mainstay. We've already had several people identify us from things they have heard -- that happened just a short time before! The friend we were with earlier wanted privacy to talk about everything, yet here we are saying the names of the people we want to meet AND the items of interest. How long until they hear we're coming and prepare a welcome for us? I do NOT want to tell anymore people what we're doing until its already done! Especially a group that could make money off of this! I say let the mages have their time -- as little as possible -- and then lets get going. And even that concession is just because I understand that WE-ARE-A-TEAM, and as the BEST team in our class everyone needs to be prepared to use their abilities to the fullest; so we can rely on each other, work together, and succeed."

Flaust says, "It will only take a couple of hours for me to request a my spells that we might find useful. We'd be better off delaying any action until the wee hours of the morning, when our 'friends' are most likely asleep. I don't care for the thought of hurting these people or burning their place down. We need to get in, take the item, and leave, if we don't want the eternal enmity of these people. I imagine anything of importance will be strongly protected by magic, and it's that we need to focus on overcoming. Being labeled a witch doesn't necessarily mean you deserve mistreatment."

Flaust says, "I like the idea of using a silence spell. I also agree that we need to stick together. We should stay away from the 'guild' for now."

Gareth says "Does anybody have an idea on how we could find the exact location of the ring in the house? I'm not good at quiet so I doubt stealth would work real well for me. Maybe we could find out a time when all or some of them are gone. That would be easier. If you want me to go with you to the guild I'll go."

Onrad says, "We could go the careful route and set up a 24hr watch on the place to determine their habits, but to me that seems a bit wimpy. It's almost like trying to see how we can best avoid any risk or adventure."

Tiburon says, " I vote to visit the Guild. " Then he turns to Talvik and says " I'll go into the Guild with you if you would like."

Onrad says, "Hmm let's see, Flaust votes against the guild. It sounds like Jus doesn't want to go though he didn't specifically say that. From what Nonam said a few minutes ago, I don't think that he wants to go to the guild."

Nonam agrees.

Onrad continues, "Gareth agreed that he would go to the guild, and Tiburon wants to go to the guild. Talvik of course wants to go to the guild. That leaves us three to three and me to break the tie. In light of everything that's been said, I think that we should wait on going to the guild. I still think we should go, but I think that Jus is right. Too many people know about this venture already. I suggest that we check the place out as a group and then hit the place with a solid plan in place."

Disgruntled Nonam says, "Well here's what their house looks like." He gestures to the image spinning in the middle of the room.

The Blight Witches: Turn 4
Monday November 17th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Talvik will order another drink and address the party." Perhaps Jus is right. It might be a mistake to ask more people about our intentions. Surely word will reach the witches of our plans and I imagine this is something that we don't really want." He says tracing the lines of the table with his fingers.

"Besides, no offense to the group, but I don't think a guild is the kind of place that we should go to as a group. I don't think they would take kindly to alot of armored people hanging about their 'lair'. This in turn would bring some unwelcome results I believe. We have enough information to carry out our goal. I agree with Flaust, let's let the casters regain some spells, and pay the witches a visit in the early hours of the morning.

Tiburon looks around at the group and says " O.K. , It might not be a good idea to spread the word around what we are doing. But remember , Helo said the Blades left for probably 2 weeks , that gives us a pretty sizable window of opportunity to plan and execute a strike against these Witches. We can do it quick or take our time and then either look for more adventure or wait to see what turns up. I don't think the Blades will bother us for the moment , I say let's do this now and make plans to handle the Blades IF they bother us later."

Jus says, "So we're agreed. Check out the witches place in the early morning after the spell casters have rested and skip the thieves guild thing for now."

Flaust studies the image of the house, noting the various exits.

"Interesting, Nonam. Interesting." Flaust studies Nonam's face carefully. "I'm going to bed. I'll see you and your plan at 4am."

Tiburon echoes Flausts words with a nod and follows him upstairs to bed. ______________________________________________________ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |____________D___________|_______________| | | | | | | | | | D D | | | | | | ____________|____________D___________|_______________|

"Now, let's see what we have here." Tal says scooting closer to the image of the house that Nonam has made. "So, let's pass on the guild.....agreed?" He says raising a fine eyebrow at the group.

"Hey!" Onrad says, "Nonam.....dear Nonam......#said in a sing-song voice# .....How, dear Nonam, did you know that there are four rooms and three interior doors and their location? Hmm? Are there some things about your little outing you're holding out on us?"

Nonam turns red, flusters, and says, "Well, I think that some people have alot to learn about trust! Copy this down so I can go to bed."

After Talvik sketches it with chalk on a table, Nonam turns towards the stairs.

"If you must know, I caught a glimpse of the first inner room while walking past the open door. No I didn't go inside. No I didn't knock on the door while invisible. No I didn't do that either.....whatever else you are thinking I did that I didn't do!"

Nonam stomps up the stairs.

Onrad looks to Gareth and says, "I'm going to watch the hallway upstairs to see that the casters are not disturbed. Would you relieve me in about 4 hours? You guys could possibly use some shut eye too after formulating our perfect plan. If'n you need my opinion on something just come get me."

Jerry says: I deleted John's or David's turn by accident. I don't know which one. I hit a button by accident and Poof! It was gone. Sorry. I ran the turn the best I could under the circumstances. Sorry again guys.

Jerry says: I'm rethinking the stay together rule. Under certain circumstances, I'm thinking it would be ok for someone like thief to go out and do something by themselves if it is "necessary." It would need to happen between turns so as to not cause anyone else to have to wait on them. I still will not allow multiple turns per day, though.

We can handle the Talvik need to go to the guild, by Talvik and I setting up a time to meet on the phone or online in a private room and just do the thing in one sitting. Of course, David and John couldn't do this. I suppose David could on the phone.

So Tony, how and when do you want to do this? Let's have it happen before the others wake up.....assuming that you would want to.

See ya'll tomorrow.

The Blight Witches: Turn 5
Tuesday November 18th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Jus just waits for the others, sleeping if he feels the need and guarding otherwise until all are ready to check out Witches' place.

Gareth agrees to relieve Onrad in 4 hours and goes to bed.

Nonam will memorize the spells I listed the other day, and then he'll hang out with the group and do whatever they want about the blight witches.

After spells are memorized, Flaust steps outside and picks up a fist-sized stone from the street. Going back to her room, she casts Weighty Chest on it and pockets it for future use.

"Pretty simple layout", says Jus. "As far as how to get in, I'll leave that to those that are more inclined to that skill. Maybe the others of us should go along in-case help is needed, but allow the silent types the chance to search for the item."

Onrad guards the mages sleep for four hours and then wakes Gareth to take his place.

It is now 4:00 am and the party meets in their room to go over THE plan.

Wednesday November 19th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

The mages and priests begin their chanting and memorizing towards the middle of the night causing Gareth to growl at several of the nearby patrons who open their doors to see what was going on.

At 4 bells, the party makes its way downstairs to the tavern where they are greeted with a smile and some coffee by Talvik of the Red Eyes. Plans and multitudes of maps lie everywhere on the table.

Talvik says, "Gather round friends and let me show you what I've got."

I'm I guess what you'd call rested and nearly well. So we'll pick up where we left off.

Thanks for your patience.

The next turn is due tomorrow, Monday, by 7pm CST.

FYI, I have recruited two more DM's who will be joining us with the New Year: Keith and John. John, in my humble opinion, has a unique understanding of the game and our campaign world which will aid in the communication necessary to operate a multi-DM game. Keith, a member of my local group, has been a part of the Woldian campaign from it's first inception in Lubbock, and is one of the few people in this world that I would label a Master Gamer. This gives us four DM's. The current plan is for us to partner up and alternate months beginning in January. This should spread the "work" of DMing this campaign around enough that no one gets burned out.

John, you have my go ahead to set up the email forwarding site as we discussed. Once John has this up and running, and assuming it works well, we will all send out turns to this web address and it will forward the mail to the DM for the evening.

This will be necessary for John to DM as he will not have access to AOL and my account as could be arranged for JK and Keith.

John, seems like you told me to remove one of those addresses. Remind me of which one and I'll delete it.

Jerry

The Blight Witches: Turn 7
Monday November 24th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Flaust comes over to see what Talvik has planned.

Gareth asks Tavlik "What do you have so far? We'd better not dally, we only have a couple of hours before daylight." He looks at the maps and things trying to make heads or tails of it.

Jus listens attentively so as not to miss Talvik's ideas

Nonam looks at what Talvik has found. Then he says, "Wow this is great."

Onrad says, "What is great about it? All I see is a bunch of scribbling and these little hearts drawn everywhere.

Nonam says, "Look, Talvik's fallen asleep. Some thief. I guess we make our own plans."

Tiburon says " I say we go now ,in the early morning, while they are probably asleep and do our best. "

Flaust volunteers to be one of the people to enter the house.

"I agree Onrad says. Perhaps we can decide on something once we are there."

Flaust prepares to follow the group to the house holding open the door and saying, "Well, I think I like this plan."

Jus grins.

Monday November 24th, 1997 4:30:40 AM

David says: Good to have you back! The land of the living is a better place to be. Had a good Thanksgiving? We did.

Jerry says: Yes I did. We went to Cousin Gaylon's house on Possum Kingdom Lake. Lots of fun and he has pet pigs too!

John says: Remove the old address. If you don't have that in your address list, you may have two of the same one, so remove one of them.

Jerry says: Gotcha.

BTW: Due to the Christmas holiday, my new computer will not arrive for 4-6 weeks from order. That places my ability to start the co-DM in early to mid January.

Jerry says: No problem, we'll just let Keith take the first month. BTW, Keith and John, any preference as to with whom you team up? You can choose between JK and me. Don't worry. You won't hurt our feelings much.

John continues: I would love to hear any suggestions for companies to use/avoid, and components to get/avoid. If you have a suggestion, place it soon... I do plan to order imminently. One thing to remember, all my time on the phone to the US, including toll-free, costs me an additional 7 cents a minute. So if some company gives great service, but you have to wait to talk with someone... that service won't be so great to me.

In regards to the e-mail. Down to two sites that are promising. One is very fast, but requires users to log into the Internet site to get the e-mail. The other is slower if you log into the Internet site, but allows the mail to be automatically forwarded to other e-mail addresses.

The second would allow everyone to use whatever service provider and e-mail program they are used to, where the first would be accessed through whatever service provider and Internet browser they are used to.

The only notable drawback with the second e-mail service is that there is a delay between the time the service receives the e-mail and the time at which it forwards the e-mail. Don't have specifics, but any working on it. It seems about an hour is the longest delay I've seen, possibly related to the size of the e-mail.

Jerry says: Delay's shouldn't be a problem. I think we're dealing with one now anyway. Just as long as we can get the turns within an hour or so to run the turn at a reasonable time and we don't lose any mail.

Jerry says: Didn't get a turn from Tony.

JK gets the next two turns. Go get 'em JK.

The Blight Witches: Turn 8
Wednesday November 26th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

"I have to admit," Jus says, shaking his head in wonder, "I expected a little more of a plan than this...." Merrily laughing, Jus continues, "But I have to say this will be a lot more fun than I expected! Let's at least have someone open the door quietly, rather than let Gareth brute his way in. If we are to die, it would be nice if we at least got through the doorway."

Gareth says "Let's go. I'll be glad to go in but I'm kind of conspicuous. It might be better if I stay outside and be prepared to enter if things go bad.

Flaust asks, "Did we ever decide if a Silence spell was in the plan?"

"Great idea," Onrad muses. "I suppose there's only one way to see if it works. Let's go!"

Nonam says, "No. At least don't cast it on me. I don't want to have my casting ability interfered with."

Tiburon wakes Talvik and says to him , "Come on, we're going to the house now."

Tiburon follows along with the rest of the group and says " Would you like to have me cast a Find Traps when we get there ?"

Onrad says, "No. Talvik should be able to take care of it."

Nonam says, "Yes. It couldn't hurt."

Talvik stirs, "Um, right. I'm with you." He will say and follow behind the cleric. He stretches and works out the stiffness in his muscles to be alert and ready.

Onrad says, "Well then, did a plan come to you while you were....... uh........ meditating?"

The group heads out the door.

Nonam says, "Are we still going to burn the place down?"

Onrad says, "NO!!!"

Onrad sings as they leave... ##We're off to see the witches, the wonderful witches of blight.## ##because, because, because, because, because, because, because##

"Oh, right....stealthy. Sorry."

After a long walk to the Blight Witches' place in the dark of the early morning the group is ready to go into action.

The house looks like most of the others on the street. It's a small one story house that looks like it might have an attic loft. No lights are visible in the windows. It appears that it's either empty or that the Blight Witches are sensible folk who sleep until the sun comes up. ----------------------- So who tries the door? spells?

The Blight Witches: Turn 9
Friday November 28th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Onrad whispers, "Wow, it looks absolutely normal."

Gareth attempts to find a tree or something to stand near or around to establish a post from which he'll keep an eye on things (Since it seems nobody has an opinion on what he should do). He ends up standing by a pillar in front of the house across the street.

Flaust whispers, "Can anyone detect if any magical alarms are placed on the door?"

Tiburon says, "I can."

Tiburon casts Find Traps and examines the door.

Tib says, "There are no traps on the door. I'll follow whoever into the house and point out any traps. Let's go while the spell is still in effect . "

Flaust whispers, "How about casting a Silence on an item to carry in? That way, the spell casters can choose to leave the area of silence as needed."

Jus whispers to Nonam, "Is it just me, or are we doing this slightly off the cuff?"

Nonam says, "Isn't that what you always wanted?"

"Was there a back door?" Jus whispers again to Nonam. He also suggests that a silence spell on the door may be worthwhile; it may have something as simple as a bell tied inside. "Many of the shops seem to do it."

Nonam says, "That would probably be a good idea."

Onrad whispers, "Um, the silence spells would be good now."

Onrad whispers, "Gareth, our strength is in numbers. I say we stay together. How about putting the silence spell on you?. I've got my leathers on. And that metal armor certainly is noisy."

Nonam says, "Flaust it's up to you. Cast it on the door, an object, or Gareth (if he's willing). What kind of range does the spell have? You know, so I can get out of range quickly."

Jus waits impatiently for Talvik or Tiburion to do their things and open the appropriate door.

Flaust pulls the enchanted rock from her pocket, preparing to play 'Catch'.

Onrad motions to Talvik. "Talvik, if you would open the door please."

Onrad muses, "Gee, I feel so evil."

The Blight Witches: Turn 10
Monday December 1st, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Whispering, Jus says to no one in particular, "I'm sure no one will notice a small group of people meandering outdoors, before daylight, trying to open a door, and casting spells." To Talvlik he says, "Let's get to it, I'm getting bored." With a wink to Gareth he finally adds, "Any more boredom and I'll have to help things along."

Onrad grins and looks both ways down the street and prepares to enter. "Cast the spell," he whispers.

Talvik will smile and pull out the appropriate picks for the kind of lock which is before him. If the winds of fate are with him, he will pick the lock. If successful, he will push open the door, and slide into the side. Getting out of the way of the rest of the group......After a quick scan of the room he will look for shadows to conceal himself into...a coat rack with 3 black robes on it.

When Talvik opens the door and moves in, Tiburon will follow, scan the room for traps and move out of the way for others to enter. He points out any traps he finds to everyone.

Gareth agrees to having the spell placed on him, notices that no one casts it, takes his place at the front of the party, and steps through the door and into the center of the first room. "Crunch, squeek, crunch." He looks around to see what he can. He proceeds motions to the others - specifically Nonam - to point to the most likely place to search.

All, except Gareth, is silent. All is well.

Flaust, pondering to herself that no one cast the silence spell thinks, 'I don't need bells to tell me this is trouble,' and mutters to herself, 'I don't like the feel of this...'

(ooh, wow! We can hear Flaust's thoughts! I wonder if that is a spell, ability, or just one of those strange things that happen when the DM is in an easy mood.)

Flaust, not having a Silence spell to cast, scrugs her shoulders at Nonan and proceeds to her doom.

Nonam points at the right door then at the other two in order. He then takes up a position in the back right corner of the room.

Flaust holds the stone and notices that it has not become silent.

Flaust then walks over to the door on the left and places the stone at a critical door, in an attempt to block it.

All is silent. Gareth's armor creaks as he breathes. All is well.

(I love you David.)

Onrad, moves to the right door and positions himself beside it. He then motions to Keith to examine the door. He also motions to Talvik to close the entrance door nearly all the way.

All is silent. All is well. (except Gareth who squeaks)

Introduction from the Jericho: Stealing from witches is an intriguing idea. Especially when witches can are known as being evil and are usually connected with a demon-like power--most of the time. I got the kernal of the idea for this scenario from The Wonders of Lankhmar Accessory. All I have to do is peruse this product and I overflow with ideas for city plots and scenarios. I also liked the idea of the cage. I just had to see if the party would get themselves caught in it.

The Blight Witches: Turn: 11
Thursday December 4th, 1997 4:30:40 AM

Nonam looks around the entry room and sees...a basic living room. There are pots and pans in a small kitchen set into the back left corner. Several divans and sofas of nice quality adorn the room. Portraits of three beautiful ladies, evidently sisters, adorn the wall above the fireplace on the left wall. Of course there are the three doors, one on each wall: left, right, and rear.

Flaust is watching to see what is behind Door #1 on the right.

Gareth glares at Nonam and freezes. He breathes lightly. If he can't be quiet he slowly and as quietly as possible backs up to the front door and steps outside. If breathing lightly does the trick he will just freeze and wait for the group to find the ring or for anything unexpected that will probably happen given DM's affinity for precursors.

Tiburon , noticing that Gareth is squeaking alot, cast Silence 15' radius upon him. He then proceeds to examine the doors, floor in front of the doors, and the general area for traps. Tib will back out of the 15' radius around Gareth and whisper to the others anything he sees that is strange. " Nonam, the silence only has a 15' radius."

Onrad remains poised next to the right hand door and again gives Talvik a questioning look as to which to open first. He follows this with a hurry up motion.

Watching everyone, Jus desperately tries to conceal a laugh. Luckily, his wits prevail and he just shakes his head instead. Looking at Gareth, Jus makes exaggerated hand motions and mouths to Gareth "Be quiet", followed by a smile to show his sarcasm.

Jus takes a quick look around the room to see if has any mage-type components or mixing apparatus (where the spoon would most likely be kept). If he sees nothing of such, he motions to the others for everyone -- except Gareth (and he almost begins to laugh again, when he looks at Gareth) -- to start into the next room.

The Blight Witches: Turn: 12
Monday December 8th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Flaust waits for Gareth to come over and provide silence on the right door.

Gareth looks around the fireplace for anything looking like a ring. If nothing he moves into the kitchen to look for the ring. He observes the floor looking for trap doors or a possible entry to an underground room (For instance, under a rug).

Gareth finds no rings in the kitchen. Neither does he find any trap doors under the many rugs on the floor.

Onrad growing impatient, opens the door to the right and steps through. He begins exploring in there.

Didn't receive turns from Keith, Tony, John, or JK. I'm assuming that they didn't send turns in. If you did and it didn't get forwarded from the new address send me and John an email directly to let us know.

Remember the new address to send turns to is active.

See yall tomorrow. JK gets the next two turns.

The Blight Witches: Turn: 13
Wednesday December 10th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Onrad does a quick search of the right room for anything that looks like either a spoon or a ring. He then checks for other exits. Satisfied as to those two things, he sets about searching the room quietly but thoroughly.

Flaust follows Onrad into the next room, paying more attention to the sounds in the house, and not really looking for the ring.

Gareth moves over with Flaust and Onrad and begins looking in that room.

Tiburon moves into the right room after Onrad. He first looks around for any traps then begins looking for any rings.

Jus tries to stay just inside of the silence spell, preparing for any unexpected encounters. He continues to look around for any mixing apparatus or tables.

Jus advances with the others into the next room. He tries to keep on the outer fringes of the silence spell, expecting the need to fight soon.

From the shadows Talvik will whisper, "Nonam, do you have a spell to locate the ring? Or maybe to lead us into the right direction?" He will move across the room by the others waiting for an answer.

No whispers, "No," and follows the group into the room.

The room is empty save for a large golden cage in the center of the room. Inside the cage is a ring. It fits the description of the ring that you're looking for. There are no windows. The walls are a pale gray stone. Tiburon does not detect any traps.

Nonam, standing just outside the silence spell, whispers, "This is too easy." Talvik hears him, but everyone else just see his lips move.

After he says it, the ring begins to spin all on its own.

Onrad, not knowing exactly what Nonam did, shoots him a strong look and motions for him/her to be quiet/careful.

Tiburon still does not detect a trap.

The Blight Witches: Turn: 14
Friday December 12th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Onrad nervously backs away from the ring and the cage quickly with his hands out to keep all the others back. Then he motions to each of the spell-casters with a questioning gaze and make spell casting motions.

Talvik goes up to the cage without heeding Onrad's warning and examines the cage without touching it...looking for a lock. The cage looks like a giant bird cage. The thing is huge. It could hold a very large bird... possibly even a small roc. It is absolutely empty on the inside save for the ring. The ring is more than an arm's length inside. It would be necessary for someone to actually climb inside to get it. There is a lock on the door. It's of an average quality. One a thief of lesser stature would have difficulty in picking. It's only accessible from the outside. Though someone from the inside could still reach it. Right now the door is locked, but the cage door stands open. It appears that someone locked the door and closed it, but it didn't snap shut. Though it looks like it could easily swing shut now.

"Any ideas? he will whisper to Nonam." Nonam approaches the cage for a better look, and says, "It looks like we just go in and grab it. I could go in, and we could get Gareth to hold the door to make sure it doesn't close. If for some reason it does even with him, you'll be out here and could pick it open easily." Nonam looks behind him and motions for Gareth to come forward.

Gareth watches for any movements in the room. He studies the rest of the room seeing what there is is to see. He sees Nonam motioning to him, and he thinks about going over. Since it looks like Nonam is having difficulty getting the ring, he goes over to the cage. He sees that the cage door is open, and he wonders what the trouble is about. Now Nonam and Talvik are within the silence spell. Nonam begins gesturing for Gareth to hold on to the door. The actions don't make much sense to Gareth, and Talvik begins to join in.

Onrad moves to stay within Gareth's quiet zone, and moves toward the cage. He still stays as far from it as possible. He begins to wonder why Gareth isn't holding the cage door like Nonam and Talvik want him to. Though in a way, he's glad that Gareth hasn't touched it.

Flaust approaches the cage with the intent to merely step through the bars and grab the ring figuring that her small size will make this possible. On approaching she realizes that (A) the door is actually open and (B) she wouldn't fit. She starts to step outside the silence spell to cast something, but then she realizes that what she was about to do would probably either (A) lock the door on the cage or (B) hurt Nonam and Talvik due to their close proximity to the cage. So she stays within the silence spell tying to think of something to do. Eventually she starts to wonder why Gareth hasn't knocked over the cage like Talvik and Nonam want him to do. She decides that Gareth must realize that he isn't strong enough to do such a thing, but that he just can't figure out how to say so.

Tiburon, still looking for traps , moves around to the back of the cage. He is now outside the silence spell. He finds no traps back there either. The cage appears to be normal and not trapped in any way. He wonders if the cage is magic in a way that wouldn't be considered a trap, but decides that Domi would reveal ANYTHING that might be considered even marginally dangerous through the spell. He looks over at the little melodrama being performed by Talvik and Nonam and wonders what those idiots are doing. It seems to make no sense.

Jus goes back to the door, making sure it stays open. He then positions himself against the open door so he can see the ring in the center of the room and guard against anyone coming unnoticed. He looks at Nonam and Talvik's game of charades. In his infinite intelligence, he decides that if Nonam and Talvik would change up their actions just a little that Gareth could see that he is to hold on to the door. He hopes Flaust doesn't join in first. It appears from the way she's looking at the group that she misinterpreted the message. Jus wishes he were the one playing the game. Plus it looks like they need him. After all, he knows just the thing to do. He glances outside the door. He doesn't see anything. He listens for a second and doesn't hear anything. He looks back at the cage. Nonam and Talvik just seem to be getting Gareth more confused.

JK says, the new address works great. Just make sure you keep sending to it (instead of straight to Jerry and me).

The Blight Witches: Turn: 15
Monday December 15th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Tiburon, still looking for traps , moves around to the back of the cage. If he doesn't see any traps on the cage, Tiburon will motion for Garath to come to the cage .If Talvik can't open the lock ,Tiburon motions for Garath to bind the bars open.

Onrad wonders why Tiburon is motioning for Talvik to open the lock on an open cage door. He shakes his head in disbelief.

Jus quickly motions to Gareth to get closer to the ring so it will be within the silence spell

Gareth finally understands what these guys are trying to say. If he He takes hold of the cage door and holds it open. He then braces the cage door open by placing his shield in the opening between the door and frame so it can't close all the way.

Gareth then motions to the guys to get the ring hoping his movements have more meaning.

Flaust, running to the open door, whirls her combat net and casts it at the ring. Using the draw line, she begins pulling the ring from the cage.

In the meantime, Jus turns back to guard the door, and sees a dark shape there. Jus freezes in place. The shape silently tosses an orb into the room as an unseen force slams the room door shut. The orb hits the floor, breaks in half and immediately gushes black smoke filling the room very quickly.

Onrad wide-eyed turns around towards the orb pulling his cloak over his mouth and nose. Then he goes slack and collapses in a heap.

Nonam turns and reaches out to catch Onrad, but his legs fail him. He fall across Onrad's slack form.

Jus spins in a panic back towards the group. He mouths, "I'm sorry." Then his eyes roll up in his head and he falls hitting his head on the cage taking 3 points damage.

Monday December 15th, 1997 4:30:40 AM

David says: Do you have the correct Intelligence score for Gareth? There are at least two sheets out there that I know of. His score falls comfortably within the 'Average' range. I'll look tonight and give the exact score tomorrow. The reason I ask is that he shouldn't have any trouble with the hand signals if everyone else is understanding them. Unless of course he's had a brain spasm or something.

Jerry says: I can't speak for JK, but I'm assuming that he made standard Intelligence Ability checks, which means that he probably rolled over the needed number for Tiburon and Gareth. JK can explain more if it's needed.

John says: Does the lack of any contrary notes indicate the new address worked?

Jerry says: Yes, as JK mentioned yesterday, it's working well. It's your end that's down John. All your mail is bouncing back to us according to JK.

David says: Happy 65th BD, JK! :)

Jerry says: After next week, I'm off for three weeks. I thought I'd check and see who was interested in playing a couple of "live" sessions during the holidays. The scheduled day is Monday, December 29. I'm available, though, if those playing would like to try a second night. Let me know.

Jerry says: Those who are unconscious may send in obnoxious comments to those who are still conscious and make untoward suggestions as they see fit. I know I will. I rolled saves vs. poison for everyone to see who collapsed immediately.

Jerry says: Thanks for the great turns JK.

Jerry says: FYI. If it's ok with Keith and John, the two DM teams starting in January will be Keith with JK and John with me. John, if you'd rather have JK, just bribe me more than Keith and he's yours.

Jerry says: Do to the fact that John is buying a new computer in January and will have difficulties involved with that, JK and Keith will be our DM's in January. This will not affect you at all in that you will keep on sending in the email to the same address as during the last few days. It is working great so far.

See y'all tomorrow.

The Blight Witches: Turn: 16
Wednesday December 17th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Gareth holds his breath so not to breath any stuff. He runs straight at the outside wall of the house and bashes through the wall - the silence spell muffling the sound. His head buries itself in the wall and he finds himself stuck there between iron bars embedded in the wall. The room is a cell! His head doesn't penetrate to the outside.

Doubling up her veil to further protect her face, Flaust uses her herbalism and begins ministering to Jus, attempting to reverse the damage, and using smelling salts to bring him out of unconsciousness.

While bending over Jus, Flaust stiffens, gags, and falls across Jus' body also unconscious.

Nonam lays unconscious on the floor. Despite his unfortunate circumstance, he looks really cool.

Onrad has a really cool dream about killing some witches. He does his best to project his dangerous mood to those of the conscious world.

Tiburon coughs and slumps to the ground. He keeps his eyes open though , to see if anyone enters the room. If someone enters, he will cast Hold Person upon them, else he will remain on the floor and pretend to have been overcome by the gas.

Talvik also remains conscious.

Wednesday December 17th, 1997 4:30:40 AM

David says: Where are the ring and combat net at this point?

Jerry says: Right now, they are in the world of the conscious. Perhaps you'll find them when you become conscious.

David says: I did not have the spell description available for Obscurement. Would it have in any way helped force the smoke back? Or possible given bonuses for saving throws?

Jerry says: Why are you memorizing spells that you haven't read?

David says: FYI. If Gareth fails a save in his attempt to rescue the party and the mission, he'll use his hero points. He currently has 2.

Jerry says: This is a excellent point, David. Guys I suggest that you resend your character sheets with hero points listed. Under that, please list under what circumstances you would like for me to expend a hero point in your favor for you automatically. In our game, we seldom have the luxury to take an extra day just to ask players if they prefer to use a hero point.

Example: Onrad asks that the DM automatically expend a hero point for him when the following circumstances occur: saves vs. death, mind control, paralization, spells that would take me below 0 hit points, and when I'm trying to rescue a comrade who has fallen in combat.

If I don't have this information on your character sheet, I will not use a hero point for you.

John says: Booo Hiss.... Apparently Jus fell asleep before the gas was released! I say this since he was INTENDING to guard from anything coming in! I'm sure the DM dutifully rolled the appropriate checks, however (no matter that it should not have happened! Grrr).

Jerry says: John, if you look closely at the last couple of turns, you turned away from the door for a moment which was all the witches needed to spring their attack. You didn't fall asleep before the attack, but vent all you wish.

John continues: Anyway, I've been out for a few days for a couple of reasons. Monday and Tuesday the network connection to the states was down, so I couldn't send or receive. Wed and Thur we had to contend with the Tropical Storm, Paka. It approached within 85 nautical miles of Kwajalein and caused winds of 25-45 knots with gusts into the 50 knot range and torrential rain. Everything was shut down, and I had no access to a computer. Luckily the storm did not approach any closer, and most of the damage was confined to downed trees, coconuts, and palm branches.

At one time Thursday during the storm, Tina, Quinn, and Delania went to a neighbor's house to play. On the way home, Quinn looked like Piglet on "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day". He had a real difficult time walking and kept being blown backwards, almost off of his feet.

The planes flew for the work commute today with the winds still 10-20 knots and scattered showers. Everything is almost back to normal.

Jerry says: Tony, I did not receive a turn from you this weekend. Did you send it? You said you'd been piggy-backing it onto Keith's turn. Does this mean it's been on the SAME email or sent at the same time? It wasn't on Keith's email this time (I sent a reply to Keith showing him this) nor did it arrive separately. To your benefit, JK says he's been getting the turns. Have you been sending them to the new address or to my box? Hmm....Why don't you call me tonight and we'll sort it out.

Next turn due tonight.

The Blight Witches: Turn: 17
Friday December 19th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Gareth attempts to bend the bars. He fails to move them. He then attempts to free his head. He remains stuck. His head begins to swim with the gas and he tries with all his heart to fight it off. He tries again.

Gareth finally slumps unconscious, his head still in the wall.

Tiburon remains waiting for someone to enter the room. He mentally prepares his spell so that he can act without any delay. He tries valiantly to think of his spell, but all he can think of is the poison.....the poison....the...........

Tiburon falls into oblivion, all of his spells slipping from his memory.

Jus lays there (unconscious) thinking "I didn't really turn my head, I know I didn't. For one moment my mind -- my player? -- didn't send any instructions telling me what to do. I know! Some all powerful dungeon-type master must have embellished my situation. Yeah, that's it. That which I wished to do, I did not do. That which I did not wish to do, I did. Not because of any inherent fault within me, but because I was momentarily overcome by that evil creature that wishes to make a character's life in the floating city memorable and interesting. Oh well, at least it can't get much worse!" After thinking this last, Jus laughs imagining the torment and despair he will probably suffer by this evil master just to prove had bad it can really get.

(Jerry says: "Welcome to the Grand Illusion! Come on in and see what's happening! Pay the price get your tickets for the show!")

Talvik, holding his breath, will pull the ring from the cage using the net which is around it. When he has it, he will put the ring in a pouch and move to the door which slammed shut. He then gets up and moves toward the door of the room. He struggles valiantly. One steps after another trying not to breathe. He succeeds. He arrives at the door, his eyes burning from the smoke, barely able to see. He reaches towards the door.

Locked.

He reaches for his thieves' tools. He enters the pick into the lock. Silently as if by slow motion, a small pin fires from deep within the lock and into Talvik's forefinger. His eyes, wide in panic wait for the inevitable. He remains conscious.

He tries picking the lock again. He succeeds. He reaches for the door. He tries not to breathe. His vision swims as the room whirls around him. He falls forward knocking the door open. His last sight is that of three women in dark robes watching him fall. He hears them cackle as his consciousness fades.

Muhahahaaaaaa! --------------------------------

Time passes. -------------------------------

When you awaken, you find yourselves inside the cage, but something is different.

The cage is huge. Or is it that you are small? It is the latter.

The door opens. The three Blight Witches enter cackling.

Muhahaha!

The eldest of the three, hunched with age, but strong of voice demands, "So, you have awakened. Good, you are fortunate. Why have bold and good adventurers such as yourselves invaded the privacy of our home? Answer us! I demand it!"

David says: Very nice trap! I expected no less.

Jerry says: Thanks.

Jerry says: Turn not received from JK.

Jerry says: I heard no response concerning playing a "live" game this month. Who can play on Monday Dec. 29?

Jerry says: I did this whole scenario by the book. I did not manipulate anyone's turn. I did cut some ideas short when what they wanted to do was no longer possible. For instance, Tiburon wanted to continue thinking of spells. That was no longer possible. Flaust wanted to open the door. That was no longer possible. Gareth wanted to wheel around and charge through the door after the wall didn't work. That was not possible since he couldn't remove his head. or bend the bars of the wall. It would have been perfectly fine for someone to have escaped this trap. I had plans for the people who escaped. It just didn't happen.

JK gets the next two turns.

The Blight Witches: Turn: 18
Monday December 22nd, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Gareth attempts to casually look around the cage at the party and the cage to determine the state of things. His and other party members gear and weapons, the cage, the witches, the room, etc. He tries not to be too obvious in his perusal. He does not say anything to the witches feeling the others talk better than him. His primary concentration is on how to get out.

Gareth discovers that all the party's gear is gone. No weapons, spell components, etc. However, he sees that the stirring ring is again on the floor in the middle of the cage. The cage bars are too close together to slip through, and something about their slight glow makes him doubt that even he could bend them. The cage is still in the empty room save that now the witches are inside. The witches stand between the cage and the door. Gareth also notices that his head seems very fuzzy and some things look distorted which leads him to believe that his friends will be unable to cast spells.

Talvik just stares at the three old hags...Cursing to himself about almost getting away. He will feel the outside of the pouch he dropped the ring in to see if it is still inside. The pouch is gone, but he sees the ring on the cage floor. Turning to Jus, Tal will say in ELVISH," Hey, why don't we just tell them the truth. That the Black Blades hired us to get the ring back because they want more money." He will say, winking to Jus. He will see if there is any reaction from the witches as to see if they know the elven tongue. They don't seem to react, but Jus and Nonam look at the thief in horror. After that, he will begin to examine the lock on the cage to see if it can be picked. He decides that it can, but since the lock is on the other side where he couldn't see it, it would be difficult. Upon thinking about it, he will check his person to see what exactly he has equipment wise still on him. He has nothing. Not even his thieves picks, which he seems to remember he was holding out in the open when he lost consciousness. He begins to re-evaluate his view on picking the lock.

Jus quickly stands up, letting his compatriots know he would like to speak first, saying "Would you please be silent and allow me to tell these ladies what they wish to know? When I am finished, you may add what you wish." To the ladies, he bows and states, "I will gladly tell you. First, I wanted to speak before the others so I might say that this is about the coolest thing that has ever happened to me; thank you. I've never been small before, its quite a neat experience."

The youngest witch snaps back, "You're not small. That's a lingering effect of the smoke. That cage is huge.. big enough to fit a roc in, I believe." The other 2 witches shoot her a menacing look, and she gets quiet.

Jus continues, "Still very effective in holding prisoners, and without the problems inherent in other, less civil, methods. I hope to have a chance to write my sister about it, although she may never believe me." Seeing the look on their faces, he mutters, "Oh, yeah, what we are doing here..."

Jus then gives a friendly smile and proceeds to tell them, "We had a talk with the Black Blades a few days ago in some bar. They seemed pretty anxious about something. We couldn't talk to them much at the time." With a little chuckle (trying to gradually turn on the charm), he continues "Some dwarves started a bar fight. Anyway, the Black Bales told us they would meet with us again later."

Gareth looks at Jus like he has lost his mind.

Jus continues, "Well, later came and we found out that they had stolen some potion stirring ring. The guy they stole it from wanted to get it back and was willing to pay some hefty gold for it. We were told that it would be a terrible error if a group that stole something for an employer, as the Black Blades stole the ring for you, were to steal it back from that same employer. If OUR group got it back, however, just our share would be a whopping 200 gold up-front with more stuff later. Well, to sum up the rest... we're new enough around here that we thought it would be great to help get the ring back to whom we were told is its owner (sorry if we were wrong about that) and help our reputation; the Black Blades are out of the city -- so obviously they are not going to be blamed for this; and, well, now here we are."

Nonam looks up from Jus' long tirade and says, "Finally."

Then Jus finishes by saying, "Pretty miserable, huh. I guess we could've asked the Black Blades for an idea of the layout of your place; but, honestly, the thought to do so never occurred to us. Thinking about it, I would bet the Black Blades aren't the type of people to trust. We fell into this trap too easy, you must have known we were coming." Getting a slightly agitated look on his face, Jus asks, "Would you mind telling me if we were set up?"

The eldest witch looks at Jus with a pair of milky white eyes and says, "You weren't set up. We knew you were coming, but you weren't set up."

The middle witch continues for her, "We did steal the ring good adventurers, but we did it in strict accordance with the law. Of course, the man we stole it from stole it from someone else." She then glares at Jus, "and you are correct, you shouldn't trust the Black Blades. We certainly don't. Hiring them and believing them are two very separate things. Now then while I'm sure you're hearts were in the right place, you tried to wrong us. So good adventurers, start getting used to the idea of spending some time in that cage."

They begin to walk out.

Flaust, in all sincerity, calls out, 'You are most gracious in calling us 'good adventurers'. We had hoped to make a good impression...is there any task we can help you in?"

The witches stop in the doorway and turn around.

The oldest one says, "I don't need any help from you."

The middle one says, "You have nothing to offer me."

The youngest one hastily looks at the other two and then blurts out, "Oh, I want to be an adventurer. Let them go, and let me join their group. Plus, that Gareth is cute. His muscles are soooooooooo big." Suddenly she realizes that she is acting like a little girl, and she composes herself. She turns to her sisters and says, "In all seriousness, both of you were able to spend sometime in the world. I have not. This group seems to be one destined to see great things, and I would see them as well. I say free them and let me become one of them." She then stands silent waiting for a response.

The oldest begins to laugh, and the middle one says, "Some adventurers, we caught them didn't we. Do you wish to be caught in a cage yourself someday. Plus, they may agree now, but what's to keep them from killing you once you leave."

The youngest one says, "I've thought of those things already. First of all, I figure most of their opponents won't be as wise as us. So I doubt they will be caught again."

The older two mummer, "That is certainly the case. No one is wiser than us."

The youngest continues, "And I don't think that they will kill me if they swear to protect me. They just aren't the type to go back on their word."

At this the older two look skeptical, but say nothing.

After a moment, the eldest speaks, "Well you Three have heard her. Will you allow her to join your group? And promise to protect her with your lives. Discuss it amongst yourselves, and then give and answer. Oh, and this time we want our answer from the cute one with the big muscles- not that long winded elf."

Tony says, I liked the last two turns!!!....The thief almost made it.... LOLOLOL....Keep up the good work guys!!

John says, My apologies to Jerry and JK if my last turn implied ill doing from either of the DM's. I understand that since I missed a turn, Jus' actions were unspecified and the DM had to make a call as to his actions. My intent was just to have fun, not to whine or complain. After all, it wasn't like I spent the time, sweat, blood, and toil creating what I thought was the perfect character just to have him have die by a giant scorpion sting on his first day of existence. ;)

jk says- I hate hotmail. More than half the junkmail I get comes from hotmail. When I see mail from hotmail, I just delete it. I'm surprised, I managed to read John's mail. But since it's free, maybe I'll get a hotmail account and bother other people with it. ;)

The Blight Witches: Turn: 19
Wednesday December 24th, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Jus is a little surprised that they even know the name of their group. He then looks at the youngest witch for a moment, trying to determine her race and her age -- just out of curiosity, of course (he reminds himself). He decides she is human, and she looks to be about 20.

The witches begin to leave to allow the party to discuss the youngest one's proposal.

Gareth says "Two questions before you leave... First, What exactly ARE the laws for stealing things in this place? "

The eldest witch says, "Well you can't kill anyone or physically destroy any property. Also if caught in the act you must return the item stolen."

Gareth then asks, "Second, How did you get my head out of the wall? I couldn't even do it."

The middle one cackles, "We had to use butter. hahahahahahahaha"

Gareth notices that his head is a little greasy.

After they answer and leave Gareth says "GREAT! A bunch of old hags think I'm cute. I say we take the deal and leave unless you guys have a better idea."

Flaust says to the group, "Obviously, this was the reason for our appearance here. It'll be nice to have another female in the group, and I think we'd agree to protect anyone who joined the group. I'll provide the oath-binding, if that is needed."

Nonam says, "What do you mean "reason for out appearance here"? Don't tell me that this was all some cosmic plan... But cosmic plan or not, I don't really see that we have any choice."

Jus decides he should try to talk succinctly, at least for now. Jus faces The Three. "Well, I think our group is getting pretty big, but we don't have much choice. We should make the promise to protect her as we do each-other and welcome her aboard. They could have killed us; that they didn't is compelling. Truly, something makes me believe they are honorable and trustworthy." He is about to say more and realizes his too short refrain is turning into a reasonably length discourse again. Reminding himself not to offend the overly sensitive ears, he decides to keep quite and let the others finish the discussion. Smiling, Jus thinks to himself, "I have to admit it is nice that my compatriots don't share the same opinion." Onrad pulls himself up to his feet and to the front of the cage. He has a serious look on his face. "I hate witches," he says. "They worship demons. Their demon's name is Pantheon. Right?"

Tiburon looks at the rest of the group and says " I don't know if we should take her along or not. If we do, we should limit the time she would be with us to, say ,six months or so. If she works out, we can extend a more permanent offer." Tiburon will then go sit by himself and began to pray for his spells. However, he finds it impossible to concentrate in the cage with the others making so much noise nearby. Also the effects of the gas seem to be interfering in some way.

Nonam says, "Now that seems reasonable. We shouldn't make it open ended. We can start off with say a month and then haggle over the time. And Onrad, I've frequently been called a witch, and I've heard a list of the demons I'm supposed to worship. You don't seem to hate me too much. People fear what they don't understand. That's not to say that they don't worship demons, but our priests should be able to keep us safe. That is if you have faith in their gods. Well it seems we've made out decision, unless Talvik has something to add."

Talvik remains silent and shrugs his shoulders.

When the others are finished, Jus turns to Gareth; indicating he should announce the groups decision.

Immediately the witches return and Gareth says, "We'll accept your terms. The young one may join the party as an EQUAL member. That means she carries her own weight, and fights to protect the others as they fight to protect her. She'll participate equally in all things both good and bad. If she cannot fulfill this then she must withdraw. If this happens we'll return her to you. Additionally we will only allow her to accompany us on a trial period of say one month."

The youngest witch says, "I demand at least six months. She looks at Tiburon and says don't you think six months would be fair." They were obviously listening in on the conversation. Onrad notices the middle witch staring at him with evil intent.

The youngest continues, "If you'll agree to this arrangement, I will swear an oath unto Pantheon, and you may swear oaths to whomever you wish that we will uphold the unity of the group and strive to protect each other. Then you will be released, and you may have the ring if you still wish to have it. After all, we finished with it days ago. If we need it again, we can always steal it. So will you swear?"

The Blight Witches: Turn: 20

"I'll swear." Onrad gets a look of utter hatred. He clenches his fists. He stares the younger witch down and begins to shake with righteous anger. "I swear upon the honor of the Gods of Wold to kill each and every Cult Witch of Pantheon I can ever find! Hear my words!"

Tiburon looks at the rest of the group and says " I don't know if we should take her along or not. If we do, we should limit the time she would be with us to, say ,six months or so. If she works out, we can extend a more permanent offer."

Tiburon will then go sit by himself and began to pray for his spells.

Gareth looks to the party for any dissenting looks. He sees Onrad staring a whole through him and changes his mind about saying something just then.

Jus says, "Yes, I swear to consider you an equal member of our party for a period of six months; this membership implies the protection of our group, and our reliance upon you for the same."

Jus turns to the others and says, "Let us, or at least Nonam and I, go deliver the ring these ladies have graciously given. We will then return for ", he pauses looking at the youngest witch for her name. "This will allow her to outfit herself and to get her things in order before she leaves."

Flaust says to Nonam, "I happen to believe in cosmic plans...but I also believe in our ability to make choices, and accepting this new member is a good one."

Flaust says, "This is one crazy city -- I guess nobody believes in borrowing a cup of sugar around here, you just hire someone to steal it as needed, expecting the victim to come calling when she needs it. I'd hate to see how the lending library works!"

Onrad explodes, "Search your heart Gareth! Examine your training Tiburon! Flaust! By the Gods man! Can you not see? Jus, beware your decisions! These creatures are perverted, evil! Pantheon is a cult god and these b....witches are his agents of perversion!"

Nonam says, "Calm down Onrad. We can easily determine the alignment of these creatures, I think. Is that possible Tiburon? Flaust? Besides, to the best of my knowledge, Pantheon is a little weird, but not evil incarnate."

Onrad turns to Nonam, "As these heathens stated themselves, we are a group of honor. At least I thought so. That includes our beliefs in the True Gods of Wold! I shall not be a part of any group that cavorts with witches! I cannot condone in any form the worship of ANY of the cult gods. Decide you must, but heed my warnings. This is an important crossroads for us and many repercussions will come from your decision."

From the Jericho: This begins the ending of the Blight Witches on an interesting note--that of a witch joining the group. The party learns to be more careful while feeling good about accomplishing their mission. They also figure their way out of the trap by negotiation. The cult gods are introduced and the party is oathbonded.

The Blight Witches: Turn 21

I fear I am out of my expertise." Jus claims. "In general, I do agree that I would not like any evil in our party. It certainly goes against our name."

Onrad continues to rant and rave. "Yes, that's my point exactly. Cult gods are evil."

Gareth says to the party "I'm not in favor of breaking up the group. We need to find another way than that." He waits for answers.

Nonam chimes in with, "Yes, we must stay together. Onrad, this is childish. Good must be mature as well as right."

To the witches Gareth says "As you can see, we have a problem. We would definitely not be with honor if we were to accept the deal as it is and splinter our group. You could then never trust us not to splinter it again and at what cost to you? What are the consequences of NOT accepting your offer? Is there perhaps a compromise we can reach and still give you what you want? I don't want to stay in this cage one extra second but if you want us to destroy ourselves it's unfortunately a better alternative."

Talvik says, "I really don't like this."

The witches consult each other with the youngest and the eldest definitely disagreeing. Finally, the eldest answers, "If you refuse our offer, we will keep you here for 24 hours and then teleport your cage with you inside to the carnival grounds to show what happens to thieves who attempt to rob the Blight Witches.

The younger turns on her elder, puts her hands on her hips and says, "If you do that, I will leave you anyway and sever my bond with both of you leaving you without an anchor witch!"

The eldest says "Humph!" and turns in a puff of smoke and disappears.

The middle witch says, "Daughter, calm yourself. We will need to keep them for the requisite 24 hours as you know to erase what knowledge they have obtained from us that could be harmful to our causes. After that time, we will release them unharmed taking from them only such coinage as is needed to repair the damage that they have done."

The younger bows her head and says, "Yes mother."

Flaust addresses Nonam, "Either we are being deluded and lead into a trap, or we're not. As part of the agreement, we can agree that it is null and void if her actions lead to an evil outcome. How conservative are we to be on worship? If I wanted to be extreme, I'd proclaim that only Alemi is worthy of respect and praise. Influence works both ways...it may be that our young friend makes decisions while under our care that will swing her in a different direction. Have we not each benefited from the same during darker moments?"

Nonam says, "Hey, you're preaching to the crowd. Onrad there is the one whose being difficult."

Talvik says, "What's the big deal. Her true colors will show in time. You didn't know anything about the rest of us before you agreed to join us either. You still know nothing of us!"

Tiburon turns slowly to face Onrad. "Onrad, " he says, " How better to keep watch over and thwart on opponent than by having them work with you. This way you can always know what she is doing and where she is. If we are doing a good work , than by her oath , she must help us accomplish it. Who knows, we may even be able to persuade her to forsake Pantheon and devote herself to one of the True Gods of the Wold. Show her the right path by your actions, don't start yourself on a self-destructive , downward spiral."

With that said, Tiburon advances to the bars and bows to the youngest Witch with a flourish. "I will so swear ,as a Brother of Domi, to protect you as one of our own as long as you share the goals and effort of the rest of our group. My name is Tiburon , a humble Brother of Domi, and so I swear ! "

Onrad looks at Tiburon and says, "Brother you are wise. I will do as you say if she will agree to one simple test. The test I mentioned before. She must submit to an Alignment Detection either by you or Flaust. If she is without evil as a motivating force then I will accept her. However I do further suggest that we call for Flaust to do an oathbinding for all of us and make some real commitments to each other."

Onrad looks to the witch, unable to completely keep his looks of disgust from showing and says, "What say you witch? Do you agree to these terms?"

She steps forward until her face is but 6 inches from Onrad's, removes her hood revealing herself as a beautiful red haired young lady of breeding, and says, "Of course, Onrad. Of course."

Then she smiles. It is all Onrad can do to keep from melting.

Tony says: Sorry I have been out of pocket...I've been in Cancun... I think Keith is playing my actions....Witch I don't mind at all... I'll try to catch up........... Tony

Jerry says: No problem Tony. I seem to have lost a whole weeks worth of turns in my pockets somewhere. Hmm....

Jerry says: Sorry for the lack of turns last week. I was both busy, tired, and lazy.

Jerry says: I know you aren't going to believe this, but I actually believe that our Welcome To The Wold Website will be up and running by this Friday. JK has put alot of work into the design of it and I worked most of the weekend plugging in all the articles and transferring them to html format. I think it will be truly impressive for a first effort. I'd say it's 60% complete with all areas basically complete except the largest one. It doesn't include anything from the online game yet, but will soon. It also lacks a section about the newly developed Southern Continent.

It DOES contain each of your names and your email addresses. I know some of you will not want your name and/or email address listed, so I'm expecting to remove some as you ask me to. Personally, I don't mind my name and email address there since I'll be using a different address there than my main one.

We will leave the site unadvertised for the first little while you guys help us find and remove misspellings and other mistakes.

As soon as we get the site transferred from JK and my computers to the site, we'll give you the address so you can enjoy it. We're looking at over 50 pages. Ideas for improving it from you computer guys will be welcome as well. We're using AOLPress which is a html program that works much like a word processor except it's for web sites.

As you can tell, I'm very excited about this. Once up and bugfree, we will begin to approach TSR about obtaining a link from their site. Once that occurs, (HAVE FAITH) we should have regular visitors. In my opinion, this stuff we've all worked to create over the years deserves to be shared. It's as good as anything not published that's out there.

Here's hoping that everyone gets to check their email tomorrow.

The Blight Witches: Turn 22
Wednesday December 31st, 1997 4:00:40 AM

Flaust says to Onrad, "I will need some time before I'll be able to perform an alignment detection."

Onrad says motioning to the cage, "We got nothing but time Flaust."

Flaust will rest and ask for the ability to perform an alignment detection.

Tiburon positions himself in the cage to just stand there and watch what everyone else does ( and sneak glances at the girl ( wiggling eyebrows ))." -------------------------- Sometime later....

Jus begins, "Sounds like we are finally in agreement. Presuming the appropriate result of this test, we will accept her as long as she holds the same responsibilities as us all; that is, upholding the honor and righteousness of the group." He then patiently awaits the results of the priest's prayers.

Nonam waits for the clerics to do their tests.

Flaust smiles and says to the younger witch with a little smile, "Do you know what you are?"

The younger witch says with a huge smile, "No kind sir. Tell me."

Flaust continues, "You, my dear, are good at heart, that's what you are. I won't reveal your designation as to Lawful, Chaotic, or Neutral. That's not anyone here's business."

Nonam says, "Hmm, fancy that Onrad. She's not evil. In fact she seems quite charming. I for one think I will welcome her company."

Nonam's ability to influence people is definitely showing. The group collectively breathes a sigh of relief.

To the witches Nonam says, "Gracious ladies, you have been far too kind with us. I appologize for any trouble we have caused. Oh yes, I'm afraid we must know your names. It simply won't do for us to go around calling you the beautiful witch, the charming witch, and the lovely witch... unless of course your names are Beauty, Charming, and Lovely."

The youngest witch says, "My grandmother who left in a huff is known as Gessenya. My mother here is Lessyrri, and I am known as Kathindau. You may call me Kat if you wish."

Kat says, "Well, now mother. I don't think we need to keep these beasties caged anymore, shall I?"

"Of course, my dear."

Kat smiles at Tiburon and waves her arms with a flourish. The cage falls apart and the party grows back to their normal size.

Both Onrad and Kat say in unison, "Now, I believe there is that matter of an oathbinding."

Both laugh and Onrad says, "Kat, I apologize. Welcome to the group."

"Thanks, Kat says."

Flaust suggests that the party returns to the Giggling Ghost Inn for the Oathbinding Ceremony.

John says: When do you wish the new address forwarding to be entered? And whose addresses? Should turns always forward to you?

Jerry says: Add Keith's address now.. Leave mine there for a week or so. If all goes well, I'll have you remove it in a week or so.

David Hill says: Jerry, as per my earlier e-mail, I lost all my setup info due to a crash. Please let me tell me again the appropriate e-mail address to use.

Jerry says: Sorry to hear that David. The proper address is listed.

David says: Correct me if I'm wrong -- isn't it tonight that we're scheduled to game on-line? At what time, and where do I go to meet up with you? As I said, I lost everything that was stored on my system...that'll teach me to fall in love with my computer!

Jerry says: I mentioned several times over the last few weeks that one was scheduled and to respond if you could play. No one answered so I cancelled it. Go back and read all your lost email. It's all there.

David says: I keep getting Onrad and Nonam mixed up...the 'o's and the 'n's in their names are too similar for my dyslexia :)

Jerry says: It's easy. Onrad is the cool one.

Jerry says: JK and I have really been putting in the hours on the website. It looks like I'll be sending out the site address to you tonight. After further thinking, I am removing all email addresses and last names from the site to protect all of us to a greater extent.

Jerry says: I have instructed John to create a new address to handle the website mail if one's available and set it to forward to my new aol name which I've created to handle mail from the website. JK will be creating a name centering on his "Marlowe" character who hosts the site probably tonight. JK will inform John of this asap so he can have the mail that comes to the website forwarded to him as well. John until JK has his name to you, go ahead and have JK's mail from the website forwarded to him. John, please email me when this is done. We'll be waiting on you to do this before opening the site.

Jerry says: I think you'll be proud of this first effort at a website. It looks very good and does a good job of reflecting the spirit of our campaign world. It's set up for easy expansion and contains much that I feel others out there would like to see, borrow, and use.

Jerry says: As soon as it is up, hopefully Tuesday evening or Wed., we'll give it a week or so for you guys and the local players to find bugs etc. that need to be fixed or glaring mistakes that need to be edited. Then we will approach TSR in an official way seeking a link from their site to ours. We've talked to them about this in an informal way already. It will probably take some time as they are notoriously slow, but I don't see a problem. What we have to offer would benefit their site.

Jerry says: JK, please send me the address of the site so I can send it out with tonight's turn (This is Tues. Morning.) and call me when you finish with your end of things. :)

See yall tonight.

The Blight Witches: Turn 23

"Good Ladies," Tiburon says, "may we take the Ring and complete our task?"

Kat tosses Tiburon the ring.

When the Ring is given , Tiburon , with a bow says, "My thanks Ladies."

Tiburon looks at the group and says, "Let us first take this and complete our task, then relax at the Giggling Ghost."

Flausts goes with the group back to the Inn.

Flaust will be on her guard once the group approaches the Inn.

After returning to the Giggling Ghost, Tiburon will buy a round of drinks for everyone in the group." Let me propose a Toast," Tiburon says ,as he raises his mug," To new found friends, may they remain friends into Eternity !" With that, Tiburon touches mugs with all who have theirs' raised and drinks.

Jus seems a little chaffed and lets the others know his thoughts. "The word of my fellow compatriot is enough collateral for me. If my word is not assurance for any of you, I willingly take this so-called 'oath-binding' -- but I would then question just how much we can trust each other. Would we need an oath-binding for every major decision we face. If we cannot trust each other in this, how can we call ourselves united?"

Nonam says, "As an original member of The Three I declare this topic open for discussion. Jus has a point. However, Onrad has a point that we really do not know each other well, and it is the safe course of action.'

Onrad says, "Did an oath-binder take your group name when you entered the plateaus? One should have. If so, then everyone who was there at that time was oath-binded as far as the rules for adventuring groups are concerned. Not that there are many. We should at least register those of us that are new with the name we bear. Besides oath-binding is a New Elennian tradition between business partners. I'd bet even Happy Go Lucky and Daphne have oath-binded."

Jerry says: Jk is hard at work loading all the maps into the site. A truly large job. When that is completed, then it comes back to me to add our email game log which I've grouped into 12 sections of abou 20 pages each. Then I think we're ready to post it. I think. There are more things to add of course once it's up....Adventurers of the Gold Dragons, Legends of the Southern Continent, New Legends of the Northern Continent, Legends of the online characters, maps of the Southern Continent, redoing some maps that have faded and didn't scan well, npc's from the card files of the different cities, etc.

If you will be out of pocket anytime this week, please notify me ahead of time as I am planning to carry on each day.

The Blight Witches: Turn 24
Friday January 2nd, 1998 4:00:40 AM

"As I said, " Jus begins, "I will willingly take this oath-binding; it is still an affront to the trust and comradeship my people are used to having. Perhaps if you explained the roots of this custom it would make it easier for me to ignore its implications."

Onrad says, "Let's see if I can remember my schooling. 50 years after the cateclysm the different settled peoples were still infighting and settling border disputes. However, the Aisildurian Empire flourished. They solidified their position and quickly with the active aid of their CULT GOD Ga'al began to move on Lankhmar and the Windbourne Hills to the east of Lankhmar. The Windbourne Hills was currently made up of over 25 different small kingdoms and city-states that even to this day are constatly at war with each other. It was necessary for some way to come into being that would enable those who could not trust one another because of bloodfeud and war to do just that so that all could survive. The Free Staters League was this answer. Led by Vusatamus the White a Patriarch of Alemi, they all took severe levels of Oathbinding calling for the deaths of their immediate families if they were broken. No one broke the oaths, the Aisildurians were pushed back not just once but three times over the next 15 years until the gods created the Wall of Kaazul to contain the Aisildurians and to exert there power over the evil CULT GOD Ga'al."

Onrad spits every time he says the term cult god.

Kat says, "Don't forget that the great witch, Shee-vang the Tooth, Queen of Inwood, was the first to undertake the oathbinding ceremony of the Kingdoms of Windbourne.

Onrad starts. "What? Who?"

Flaust says, "Since I am an adjudicator of the oath-binding ceremony, my opinion is obviously biased in favor of the tradition. It was under this condition that we agreed to bring on Kat."

Nonam says, "Let's have the oathbinding. It can't hurt. Personally I trust Kat here. If she meant us harm she could have done it when we broke into her house."

Kat puts he hand gently on Flausts and says with her eyes dancing, "Would you do us the traditional honor as Patriarch of our Fellowship of selecting the wording of the Ceremony?"

Nonam then says, "Gentlemen and ladies, I suggest we all go and find something of value to present to the group as a matter of trust as is the tradition of old."

JK says: The web site is coming along. I'll finish up sometime. Probably Thurs. afternoon. The address will be sent to you. The address to the old site (which discusses the group on the Southern Continent) has been sent to you. The old site will probable disappear soon, so if you want to look at it, hurry.

Jerry says: JK, we delivered the spoon last turn. We kinda did it in a hurry as it would have added extra unimportant days to the finish of this adventure.

Jerry says: JK is really putting the time in on the website. It's basically an unthankable job. I know he has grown weary of the task by now. BE SURE to honor his work when the site goes up by examining it in detail and offering up extraordinary praise for his fantastic work. This site is a quality product just as I feel the Campaign folder is. I take pride that our "little" group that started way back in the early eighties role-playing the Alemi and Spud campaign (now the 1st age) could have come so far.

The Blight Witches: Turn 25
Saturday January 3rd, 1998 4:00:40 AM

"Sounds similar to what happens where I'm from when someone breaks their word!", Jus comments.

Gareth says "What do you mean 'Something of value'? Like what exactly would be acceptable? Quite frankly, I'm happy with the way things are but I don't particularly have any misgivings making it official if everyone's for it."

Onrad says: "Geez, I'll bet none of you have ever done this before? You haven't have you? Oathbinding is always a part of each young man's education. I didn't realize, but.....none of you have any formal education do you? Sorry, I just assumed.

He continues, "Something of value is exactly that--something of value. Only the person offering the gift can determine it's value. It can be something that actually has monetary value or something more symbolic. The axiom goes, 'If it will be missed, it is of value.' Beyond that, there are no guidelines and what I've suggested is only my thoughts on the matter."

Jus participates in the useless, redundant exercise to pacify the untrusting. ;)

Flaust says, "Well I suppose we can skip the exchanges of trust if no one objects?

An awkward silence fills the room.

Flaust speaks cheerfully, "Well then, let's begin. Don't fall asleep. If you break this oath you could like get leprosy or something.........Um, that was sort of a joke.......sorta."

Another silent pause.

Onrad leaves the table and takes a seat across the room.

Flaust begins reading the oath he has worded:

PROCLAIMATION OF OATH

STATE OF NEW ELENNA } } KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: CITY OF THE BIG FLOAT }

THAT WHEREAS, Onrad, Tiburon, Jus, Flaust, Gareth, Nonam, & Talvik, also known as The Three, herein called "Grantor" (whether one or more), for and in consideration of the gifts presented and other good and valuable consideration between the Grantor and Kathindau whose currently resides in the Floating City, herein called "Grantee" (whether one or more), the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and confessed; NOW, THEREFORE, Grantor for the consideration as above-stated, has Granted and Conveyed, and by these presents does Grant and Convey unto the said Grantee, the following described pledge, to-wit:

We, The Three, do solemnly swear and do commit ourselves to accept Kathindau as one of our own, to protect her being bodily, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and to provide an equal share of all treasure gained, share and share alike.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above-described promise, together with all and singular, the rights and appurtenances thereunto in anywise belonging unto the said Grantee forever. And Grantor does hereby bind himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said promise unto the said Grantee, against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. This conveyance is made subject to any and all valid and subsisting restrictions, reservations, ordinances of municipal and/or other governmental authorities, conditions, and covenants, if any, applicable to and enforceable against the above-described promise, due to any actions on the part of the Grantee which may be constued as evil and detrimental to the good of society or individuals. Alemi, Supreme God of New Elenna, will be considered the final arbiter of any dispute regarding the actions of the Grantee. Decisions rendered through divination with Alemi will be deemed sufficient. By accepting this commitment, Kathindau accepts all obligations of The Three, and extends like pledge to each of its members, both current and future. The use of any pronoun herein to refer to Grantor or Grantee shall be deemed a proper reference even though Grantor and/or Grantee may be an individual (either male or female) a corporation, a partnership or a group of two or more individuals, corporations and/or partnerships.

EXECUTED this the Nymph day of Flowers in the year 421A4 .

Onrad Jus Gareth Talvik

Tiburon Flaust Nonam Kathindau

} INDEPENDENT CITY STATE OF THE FLOATING CITY} }

BEFORE ME, the undersigned authority, on this day appeared Onrad, Tiburon, Jus, Flaust, Gareth, Nonam, Talvik, & Kathindau, known to me to be the persons whose name are subscribed to the foregoing instrument, and acknowledged to me that they executed the same for the purposes and consideration therein expressed.

GIVEN UNDER MY HAND AND SEAL OF OFFICE, this Day of The Nymph, Month of Flowers.

Flaust Patriarch, State of New Elenna

Once everyone agrees to the wording, Flaust writes the oath on rose-scented parchment. Calling on Alemi, Flaust states the names of all to be bound, and then wraps the written contract around a block of myrrh incense - tying it with rose stems. Placing this block on the table, Flaust directs each of the party members to light an edge of the document, and instructs everyone to inhale the scent. Flaust states, "This symbolizes the internalization of our agreement. What has been made may not be broken, except as indicated on the parchment, without penalty."

Flaust then concludes cheerfully, "There! Does everyone feel better now?"

No one says anything.

David says: My turn did not appear in Wednesday's turn. I did send that one. Did you get it? Please confirm you got this one too. Thanks.

Jerry says: I didn't get Wednesday's turn. Here's your confirmation. :)

Jerry says: The third of my local DM's (JK and I are the other two) wants to join the email game. We do need someone to play the part of Kat. He is willing. He will have to play from work. He is a drama teacher at Hirchi. The issues as I see them are

1)We have 4 DM players and 3 players as things stand now 2)So far everyone has had a computer at home 3)We could be excluding others such as Joey, Sidney, etc. who don't get to play locally.

Neither of these are seeming to be a problem since we've already added the character and we only play on school days anyway for the most part.

As far as the third is concerned, no one has been pushing any of these people.

Comments?

Jerry says: We'll be adding the legends of all the online players soon to the website. As things stand now, I'll just be using your short legends attached to your character sheets. If you wish to redoo anything or add some depth now that you've played the characters for awhile, feel free to do so. I figure about a month before JK gets over the major burnout he's feeling after adding the over one hundred files already on the site one by one. Poor guy. I do think I saw a gray hair there at the local game last night.

Jerry says: Also keep the guys of the local group in mind as they are in a bad way right now. Their characters of the Southern Continent are currently in Ravenloft for the first time and one of them is already succumbing to the powers. Not good.

Jerry says: In real life, Keep Anthony in your prayers as he had a wreck last night. He and his car were ok. He was backended on Kemp Street. The other car was very beat up. Anthony's neck was slightly sore, but he is ok.

Jerry says: Again the site is up.

Welcome to the Wold

Press here if on AOL to go there. If not try typing in the address.

Don't forget to sign the guestbook to let me know you were there.

If you see mistakes of any kind or have suggestions or see areas that seem weak let us know. If you see an area that you are interested in helping with (map work, articles, etc.) let me know. There's work for everyone to do if they wanna.

This is my last turn until February. JK and Keith will DM the next month. I'll just play unless needed.

The Blight Witches: The End (Turn 26)
Sunday January 4th, 1998 4:00:40 AM

Everyone stands awkwardly for a moment after the oathbinding is complete, and then finally Gareth says "So now what? Are we going to deliver the goods to the old man now? I have no suggestions as to where we go from there."

Flaust says, "Once we deliver the ring, what is our next goal?"

Onrad says, "I'm easy to please, but let's do something tonight. I'm not in the mood to just hang around here. This place I know. I want to go somewhere new."

Nonam says, "Well once we deliver the ring I think we should be getting a little money. What say we go out and spend it and get to know our lovely new companion."

Kat blushes and says, "Sounds good to me."

The group then heads to Sirden's to return the ring, and somehow they arrive without incident.

Just as Nonam is about to enter the door he pauses and looks at the rest of the group, "Who has the ring?"

Kat smiles and pulls the stirring ring from a pouch.

Tiburon says, "I guess it's a good thing we brought her along."

The group enters the shop, and Simdel (the apprentice) runs out and asks, "Have you brought the ring? Oh please don't give it to him. He's going to use it to destroy all of New Elenna. He'll make a vile potion which will give him the power to control the und..."

At that instant, Sirden enters the room and shoots Simdel a disapproving glance. Simdel looks at the Three and simply says, "Please" as he retreats from the room.

Watching the apprentice go Sirden says, "That boy, I swear he's going to ruin me with all that nonsense someday. Well, have you brought me the ring? I truly hope so."

Kat holds the ring up for Sirden's view.

Sirden immediately realizes that one of the Blight Witches is with the party. He stammers, "I...I...I d-d-don't understand"

Kat tosses Sirden the ring. "Here you go big boy. Make your silly little bug spray. Just do it fast. Mother plans on taking it back soon. Now give us our money."

Sirden quickly recovers and says, "Yes of course. I believe 100gp was the agreement."

Gareth says, "200"

Sirden says, "I'm positive it wasn't more than 150"

Gareth says, "200 and Nonam's spell."

Finally, Sirden hands over the money and an Invisibility scroll. Gareth takes the money, and Nonam grabs the spell.

The Three then go out for an evening on the town. They have dinner at the Glittering Emerald on the Gold Level, and then they head up to the Open Air Level for an evening of fun at the Diamond Midway. Everyone rides the rides, and they take a look in Ozmic's House of Wax. After an entertaining evening, the group returns to the Giggling Ghost for the night. The next morning, Gareth pulls out the money to split. Nonam doesn't take any for himself since he got the spell, so everyone else gets 30gp once last night's festivities are taken into account.

After the money is split up Jus winks at Daphne and says, "So what does everyone want to do today? Something fun, I hope."

Okay, now Keith (Tiburon) and me (JK - Nonam) will be doing the turns for this month. We've decided to split the turns up a little different from the way Jerry and I did them. I'm going to do the turns for the 1st week. Then Keith will do week 2. I'll get week 3, and Keith will do week 4.

Well, now's everyone's chance to do whatever you want to do in the big city before the next adventure starts. So stock up on supplies and food. Spend your 30 gold or whatever you want because tomorrow you'll all have to save the world or face certain doom. ;)
