The Necromancer's Stones: Jericho Comments
Wednesday April 29th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Introduction From The Jericho: The final battle continues and continues and continues. Then Onrad, my character, chops off the bad guy's head!!!!

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 69
Wednesday April 29th, 1998 5:30:40 AM

Nonam remains caught helplessly in the web, but says, "Someone, burn the web!"

Gareth attempts to moves sideways out of the web toward his bow noticing Fighter #3 is still moving effortlessly through the web . Gareth manages to move another 2' towards the stairwell side of the web when...

Flaust picks up the torch and begins burning the webbing to free the party. The webs catch fire and go up in a flash of heat and smoke. Everyone in the web takes 5hp of damage from the flames.

Tiburon rushes to Nonam to see how badly he is burned. "Do you want some healing?" , he asks Nonam, then looks at the others .

Kat continues to look down ther stairs for Som.

Jus moves to the stairway and waits for the others.

Onrad seems a little dazed from the flames and stands where he was.

Fighter 3 swings his sword at Gareth just as he bends to pick up his bow. Gareth looks up to see the blade descending towards him. He flinches as it reaches his neck only to devolves in a flash of colored light, along with Fighter 3. Looking back to where he stood and fought , Gareth sees the dead body of Fighter 3 lying on the floor.

Aventine moves to the stairwell and says, "Let's get him before he gets away!"

It appears Gareth's owner is displaying the same level of intelligence and wisdom as his character... Well played Jerry and Keith.

Kim and I have now moved. They packed us yesterday and we will put it all in storage today. I'll be back in the office Wednesday. I'll give new phone #'s tomorrow when I remember them.

--------------------------------------- jk say- As far as quivers and the numbers of arrows they can hold go, I would assume it's strictly a matter of quiver size. I would guess a standard size would hold about 20, but some could certainly be made smaller or larger. In real life, I've seen quivers that hold less than 10 arrows and those that would hold over 30. I'd say for game play that we should make anything that would hold over 20 arrows a special purchase, but it should certainly be possible to buy one. --------------------------------------- ( talk about contingency plans :^) !! )

If the Rocky Horror Picture Show begins playing on the ceiling: Flaust breaks out her fish-net leggings.

If the voice of some guy named 'Jerry' speaks from the Heavens: Flaust swoons and changes her patron deity on the spot.

If high-heels come in style (did they ever go out?): Flaust screams, "It's not fair! Short people got no reason..."

If Elvis has truly left the building...

------------------------------- From David Hill: In Turn 67, Jerry stated "I realize that in a 'live' game that some of you would change your actions once circumstances in a round change..."

My long-winded explanation last round was, "Since we can't make changes in an on-line game, the DM should make rolls to see if it is plausible that we change our actions, based on new information."

You stated that I would need to declare a 'disbelief' to overcome the illusion. Okay, so I didn't. Let's see, Flaust is intent on roping up the bad guy, when, BAM, a Web springs into existence, which she narrowly avoids and happens to arrive on the same side of the Web as Som. Assuming that she notices that Som is now visible (Int. check), she will likely go for the Big Man himself (Wis. check) ( but we have no way of knowing this unless you tell us. We don't read minds and that isn't our char., we can't/won't make major actions for you. again that is why we put " Actions ?" at the end of the turns.-Keith) and forget the rest. If I'd been sitting at the gaming table, I would have requested this change in plans during Turn 67. ( and they probably would have taken place there- Keith)

Oh well, spilt milk.

Joey is considering, but wants to wait for a month, until he has a computer at home

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 70
Friday May 1st, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Nonam says, "Thank you, Tiburon. I could use a little healing."

Nonam cries out, "EVERYONE!!! STOP CHASING AFTER HIM!!! WE'RE RUNNING AROUND LIKE IDIOTS THROUGH HIS TERRITORY! IT'S WHAT HE WANTS! WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER!"

If anyone bothers to listen, "We can't have half the party running after Som on the stairs while the other half guards the stairway on another level. We certainly can't have two warriors full of themselves trying to prove which one is better. We need to work together and slow down and regroup."

Kat goes down the stairs looking for Som. She sees him standing at a table across the room placeing something in a bag.

Onrad races down the stairs. He stops and yells, "Come on Gareth (or guys if there's more than Gareth there with me), he knows he's defeated. We can't let him escape the tower. He should be slowed by your spiking the door. Let's move it!"

Som's head jerks up at the sound and he drops the bag he was holding . He turns around and begins casting a spell.

Gareth picks up his bow, nocks a sheaf arrow, and moves quickly down the stairs looking for Som. He listens intently as he goes. If he sees him he sets up and takes a shot. he misses with his first , quick shot and begins to drwa another arrow from his quiver.

Tiburon moves down the stairway with everyone else.

Som completes his spell and suddenly, a billowing ,green cloud appears between him and the stairwell. Som then turns and runs through the open doorway just as Gareth fires his second arrow and hits him for 4 hps, leaving the bag where it lies.

Jus looks for any of Som's footprints showing his escape, hoping that he stepped on some blood of bled on his own feet during the battle. He sees that they head down the stairs.

Flaust moves to Nonam and lays on hands , giving Nonam 6 hps back.

Flaust follows the group, saying, "I think there's a secret opening on the flat wall of the level below us. Also, my detect traps spell is finished."

Aventine comes pounding down the stairs and says," Don't just stand there ! Lets' get him ! "

Just a refresher: Gareth 'spiked' the door to the outside (or at least one of them) with the swords of the skeletons. If Som attempts to leave the building via that route he will have a great deal of trouble doing so. Maybe he even can't. Just wanted to preempt a potential missed fact for the ensuing turns.

Kim and I are now moved into our new temporary digs. I had no idea we had so much STUFF! We had 137 boxes of different sizes plus furniture and appliances! And that's not including all the stuff we moved ourselves. Probably 150+ boxes total. We got it all moved . That is to say: They got it all moved. I really enjoyed watching... Never done that before.

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 71
Monday May 4th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Flaust, knowing that she could never hope to overtake Som, leaves it to the longer legged ones to pursue him, but says, "He may be headed to the hidden section of this level of the tower."

Kat says, "What hidden section? Didn't you see the door on the opposite the one that leads in here?"

Flaust covers her mouth when she spots the green cloud, running around it as quickly as possible while holding her breath.

When Flaust gets past the cloud, she will go to the appropriate wall in the hallway (opposite the half-moon room) and search for doors of all types, beginning immediately across from the doorway going into the half-moon room. Sure enough there is a door there directly across from the door leading into the northern room.

Flaust then notices movement at the other end of the hall from her. She sees a glimpse of a cloaked figure racing disappearing down the stairs.

Flaust yells, "He went down the stairs!!!!"

Onrad races around the Cloud after Flaust, through the doorway, and pauses.

Flaust points to the stairs and screams, "Down the stairs! Down the stairs!"

Onrad begins running again making it about halfway down the hallway.

Aventine bursts through the doorway, crashes into the wall as he tries to turn the corner at full speed. He puts a hole in the wall as he spins and runs down the hallway one step behind Onrad.

Aventine begins a hoarse growl which begins to crescendo into a battle roar as he runs. "grrrRRAAAAUUUUUUGH"

Hearing the commotion, Jus runs downstairs grabbing his bow on the way. To Nonam he yells, "I'd rather get Som before he has a chance to regroup his undead!"

Jus keeps a lookout for Som, ready to fire his +1 arrows at him on sight.

Kat waits till the gaseous cloud clears. When she sees that it is not going to for awhile, she traverses the rooms edge avoiding the cloud and and goes and picks up the bag.

Ignoring Nonam, Gareth nocks another arrow, holds his breath and runs around the cloud and down the stairs after Som as fast as he can go without falling. He, of course, begins to breath again as he moves around the room past the cloud yelling "Get that bag I bet it's the stones!" Gareth makes it to though the door and continues running about 10' behind Aventine and a few feet past Flaust who vigorously waves him through.

Tiburon moves down the stairs and to the cloud. He looks at it moves around the cloud and out the door to stand beside Flaust.

Nonam sulkily walks down the stairs where the others are only to hear the party running in the distance.

Monday May 4th, 1998 5:30:40 AM

Jerry says: Som's initial actions this turn are not seen by the party, therefore they are not included above the line.

Jerry says: Remember that I'm doing the turns on Thurs. And Fri. now. So everyone (David and JK), please send copies of each turn to Woldian@usa.net. I had to get a couple of turns (David and JK) from Keith. If you wish to send a copy direct to the DM for that day, fine, but remember that Keith or I could get sick and ask either John or JK to run the turn for the day as a sub. Plus I want John getting used to the DM process by watching what Keith and I do with the originals each day to form the official turn. So, no matter where else you send the turn, send it to woldian. Thanks.

Jerry says: For those of you who don't know, I've been sick all week with a stomach virus. I'm going to school tomorrow, but will take it easy.

Jerry says: Dad has some minor surgery Monday. Please keep him and mom in your prayers.

Jerry says: Keep JK in your prayers as well. He's doing the final rewrite on his Thesis this weekend and has his Orals next week.

Jerry says: Keep me and my students in your prayers next week as it is TAAS test week. If the last practice test is any indication, our school could be accredited warned by the state for low grades in 6th grade. It's just a low group. Not very good publicity for a school who is becoming a magnet school next year and wants to draw students from all over the town or for a Asst. Principal wannabe. :(

Jerry says: If we plan a game with John Klinger for Tuesday May 19th, I need to know if JK, Anthony, Keith, Tony, Erin and David Hott can come. Since John lives out in the Pacific Ocean like he does, (he says there's land there) this will be your only chance to meet him for a long time...and him you. Please RSVP your intentions TOMORROW please........pretty please?

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 72
Wednesday May 6th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Jus get the initiative.

Seeing the others go around the cloud, Jus does the same. On his way to the stairs, he takes a look through the hole Aventine made in the wall.

Through the wall, Jus sees a laboratory. No further details can be made out due to the light and the size of the hole.

Jus slows down at the landing as he reaches the end of his movement.

He turns and sees Som at the end of the hallway trying to remove the swords and open the door.

Realizing that he cannot go any further, he pushes back into the corner and motions the others on.

Flaust yells, "Don't forget the trapped stairs!"

Aventine pushes his way past Gareth and Onrad and rounds the corner. He leaps down the stairs taking 8 points damage. Making his dex check, he rolls to his feet and screams, "Sssooooooom!"

The Necromancer glances back and pulls the last sword out of it's spot. He turns around back to the closed door and feebly raises the sword to defend himself. "No...he whimpers. No. I'm so close. Go away."

Kat checks the bag to make sure it contains the stones. It does. Kat says "Gareth I have the stones, GET SOM."

She holds on her spell after hearing Jus yelling his location.

She then follows the group out into the hallway.

Flaust, seeing Nonam, says, "So, do we open this door, or hope that nothing comes out if we ignore it?"

Flaust will follow Nonam.

Nonam says, "We hope that nothing comes out."

Gareth continues to run after Som not interfering with Jus or Aventine as they have position. He prepares to fire as he races down the stairs. He spots Som, and puts on the brakes. He draws his bow and fires. The stairs made a tough angle and the arrow sticks in the door above Som's head. He fires again. He hits Som in the ear for 4 points sticking him to the door. Som reacts and pulls away. The ear remains with the arrow on the door. He screams! "AUUUUGH!"

Onrad, turns the corner, and seeing that Gareth didn't seem to set off the trap, runs down the stairs reaching the end of his movement at the bottom. He stands beside Aventine.

Tiburon remains beside Flaust and Nonam protecting them.

All of a sudden, the door behind Som is torn off of its hinges. Undead begin pouring through the door making slurring sounds, "Soooommmmmm."

Som runs falling to his feet in front of Aventine and Onrad screaming in total fear as he clutches at them, "Saaave me! Saaaave me!"

David says: Shouldn't it be called the TOSS test? I hate the idea of 'Big Brother' watching our kids. It's absolutely none of their business. (So much for concealing my political views)

Jerry says: I couldn't agree more.

David says: As I said the first time you asked: I probably cannot commit to a game night, at least a specific time. But I may be able to join you for dinner (I believe you mentioned Parkway Grill). I may be able to game but I just don't know. What I envision is traveling to W.F. after work Tuesday. I'll try to get away early but can't promise. I currently know of only one direct conflict. Maybe I can get Kim to fill in for me. I'll try to work it out. One conflict is usually workable. Normally there are two or three. Let me know a time to shoot for. I'll use 7:00 PM as my target. Unlikely I can get there sooner than that.

Jerry says: The AD&D party for John Klinger will be Tuesday, May 19th from 7-11pm at my place. John if you want to, it has been suggested that those of us who can't make the game or stay till the end, take you to supper at Parkway Grill at 5:00. Interested? BTW, John, please confirm that this time will be ok. You kinda left things up to me. :) So far, everyone is coming both from the online group and the local group except for Keith. We will play the online characters integrating with other characters for the evening. Those from the local game will play their current characters as they are also 3-4th level. David Hott, any ideas of what you'd like to play? Also Steve Hott is coming. He has a modem now, but can't get it to work. His dad was going to help him get his AOL going tonight and I am supposed to show him around a bit. That makes for John, Jerry, David (hopefully), Anthony, Erin, Sam, JK, Steve. JK will have to leave early as he leaves for Michigan to present his paper the next morning like at 5AM and is driving pretty well straight there. He said he's go to supper though if John was up to some good nachos. Did I leave anyone out? Oh! I need to call Scott Carpenter. I'll do that tomorrow. Anyone else?

David Hill says: Jerry, thanks for the handling of Flaust :)

Jerry says: Sure. I'll send the bill. Oh, David. Why don't you make plans to like give all of us a call sometime during the festivities that Tues.

Jerry says: Door prize of a magic item! Whoo!

Jerry says: Links page is now up on the website. Although JK hasn't made it pretty yet. We can now all get out there and advertise by getting other campaign sites and related stuff to exchange links with us. Send all locations of relavent sites that you like to me to add. I"ll contact them and see if we can get on their link list. The idea is to get OUR name out there, so no links, unless they link us.

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 73
Friday May 8th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Nonam lights up one of his cocktails and throws it into the midst of the undead. The he says, "Let's get out of here. We'll kill all these things when we figure out how to use the stones."

Onrad stands shocked at the talking head and tries to hold on to his sword. "The permanent solution to these undead is in the stones. I suggest we once again try to get them all together in Gargul's temple and use them to lay these poor souls to rest." he says.

Jus yells to the others, "There's a hidden laboratory upstairs! There may be another exit through there! Hold them for a moment while Nonam and I check!"

Jus runs back up the steps to the entrance to the laboratory, grabbing Nonam on the way.

Gareth shoulders his bow, draws his sword and moves towards the door. He says "If we can get to the end of the land bridge we can keep these things at bay there. Bring the stones!". He brandishes his sword and keeps several undead at bay.

Flaust strides forward, brandishing her holy symbol, and yells, "Begone, foul creatures!" Several of the undead turn away and try to move back out the door , with no success.

Aventine moves to Gareth's left and begins to hold the undead on that side of the hallway at bay also.

Tiburon moves up and presents his Holy Symbol and says," In the name of Domi, Begone you abominations !" Several more of the undead move back away from the group and clog the entryway, preventing more from entering at the moment.

Onrad yells," That's right ! Run away you foul creatures ! Run, or we'll kill you again !"

Kat continues to hold helping the others retreat. She bends over the now still body of Som to be sure it is dead. She finds a ring, bracers and a pouch on the very dead body.

Gareth says "No way out! I'll defend the door! You all find a way outside!" and with that begins to fight relentlessly.

Jus and Nonam arrive at the wooden door ,across the hall from the one leading to the room they just came from, to find it loosely closed.

Friday May 8th, 1998 5:30:40 AM

jk-oops, I'm not in the habit of there being 2 dms again. I only sent my last turn to jerry.

Jerry says: (to everyone) Once again I find myself thanking Keith for all he's done with this one this spring and especially how consistent he's been! I don't know how JK and I would have lasted this spring without him. Thanks Keith. ( Your Welcome :^)

Today was the first day of TAAS test and school on the teacher's side of things was an insane asylum. The school board decided to come visit the testing conditions and bring the media with them. AAUUGH! They walk right in our room with the principal just after I've talked down two girls who were crying from the pressure. I could see one girls just gulping down her heaves while they were there. I had had enough! These people wanted to see what testing was like! I'd show them. I went over to the girl, calmly carrying the trash can, gave it to her and pointed towards the hallway. I then took the hands of one of our female board members and one of the media ladies from TV and said, "Could you help calm her down please. I've got all I can deal with here. Thanks."

Within a minute the superintendent had the whole group OUT of the building. I took a legal break from the test, sat the kids on the carpet and passed out snacks I'd brought, while I was calmly talking to them. I grabbed the assistant principal so no one could accuse me of going over test materials during the test and began to talk them down. The sixth graders were actually angry that these people came in and bothered them. They were all for storming downtown and telling them. They were really taking up for each other and the girl who had gotten sick. (BTW, we had 2 other girls and one boy also throw up this morning.) We pulled out a joke book and watched the cartoon channel a bit (bugs bunny in the barbershop did the trick) then set about the test. I told them I had never seen them act more mature than they had that morning and that as far as I was concerned each one of them deserved to pass this stupid test and that they were each ready for Jr. High right then. I officially declared the class a 7th grade class (which they loved), tore up the seating chart and let them grab their books and reenter the room as 7th graders.

We may not all have passed the TAAS today, but we had a moment. One of those defining moments they and I will never forget. One of those moments I'll remember silently and smile at when outsiders who don't understand say, "Why did you become a teacher." and I have to answer, "You could never understand."

Jerry says: David Hott can't make it Tuesday, so I'm going to open up the bag of worms and see if Monday is better. It might be better for JK as well. Everyone please respond. Same times, just on Monday the 18th. 5:00 for supper at Parkway Grill, 6:30 arrival time. Roll dice at 7:00-11:00. We WILL quit promptly at 11:00 do to all of us working the next day. So for John and David who haven't played in a while, we don't do the play till whenever things anymore. We start and quit on time. :)

David Hott- If we have a protracted combat here I have a proposition: The DM run more than one round per day. For example: Gareth is fighting at the door. He'll continue to do that for as long as he can. Therefore, combat for him is very easy. Hack, hack hack, hack, hack hack, etc.. For a magic user you may say "Here are my spells and their order. Cast them as you can and in a way that makes sense." Since there are so many undead we may have no way of doing this in an expeditious manner. With a map a fighter could direct his attacks at specific creatures in a specific order. Just a thought.( that would be nice, but the turns come at all times, and it takes a lot of time to do a turn , at least an hour per turn. Keith)

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 74
Monday May 11th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Jus takes a quick look around the laboratory for any other exit, he sees a window boarded up from the inside. He moves over to the window and finds a rope ladder rolled up ready for use.

Onrad says, "Priests, Good job! Keep turning them! Keep them running before you! We'll get out of this hallway yet."

Tiburon stands firm , continuing to hold the undead at bay. They mill with the others at the door, still clogging the way .

Aventine and Gareth continue to guard the Priests from any undead they didn't turn.

Flaust turns and races back to the stairs and pulls out her dagger, saying,"I wonder if the trap on these stairs will be useful in stopping the undead...if you guys will go up to the second level, we can remove the net and see what happens."

Jus steps back to the door and yells, " There's a window and ladder here that we can use to get outside ! "

"To town and the temple! Post haste! " Onrad sets off in a jog towards the stairs.

Nonam looks around the lab and finds 2 potions. He takes them and puts them in his pouch.

Kat removes the items she found last round and secures them on her person.

Monday May 11th, 1998 5:30:40 AM

no turn from Kat , Gareth , or Nonam yet ( 10PM)

Jerry says: No distractions this morning before the Reading part of the test. The kids are loose and ready. I wonder which day's scores will turn out the best? Twill prove interesting.

Jerry says: I have heard from no-one concerning switching from Tuesday to Monday for John's party. So, now it's officially Monday. We'll take him out to supper, with Tina his wife if y'all want to. Feel free to invite your wives as well if you want to. I think I"ll f refrain on bringing my dogs though. At 6:30 we'll head over to my house, (4410 Cunningham-691-1078) and get set to play. We'll play from 7-11 and then head home.

The Ongoing Title of the Module I'm writing for the occasion is:

"Verses the Black Blades"

I hope that catches your attention. There will be a door prize as well. Just for fun.

Scott Carpenter has committed to come as well. Steve Hott will come to supper and for the first couple of hours.

David Hill: Hey Keith, ummm....I don't currently have my lasso (3# )(left at top level where Web was), combat net (10#) (nailed down to the stairs to prevent trap), or robes (?#)(removed on 2nd level when covered with grease to avoid fire damage) ( so you're running around with no clothing on ?? don't you think that you're cha. would cause revulsion from your companions now that see you in all your glory ?-Keith)-- does that help on my movement rate? ( yes, some. now you have a movement rate of 4 - Keith)

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 75
Wednesday May 13th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Jus tries to find something to secure the other end of the rope on. He secures it from the top to some spikes in the wall evidently designed for that purpose. That done, he helps Nonam search the room while waiting for the others to gather.

The only thing left that seems lootable is the small laboratory library. Jus takes 3 books about lab techniques and one concerning common potions before his backpack is full.

Tiburon continues to present his Holy Symbol and backs to the stairs. Once he reaches the bottom, he will turn and move up them to the doorway and stop, waiting to slow any undead that follow them upstairs.

Jus says, "I'll go first, Gareth or Aventine need to stay up here and keep the undead from coming in. I'll defend the bottom of the rope ladder while everyone descends!" Jus then makes sure the top of the ladder is secured and scurries down. He draws his swords and tries to keep a path open for the others. He is able to keep the way open across the land bridge.

Flaust, exerting herself, gives a silent prayer for not having those hot robes on at the moment. B^)

Flaust prepares to release the combat net at the bottom of the stairway, once the crew has made it up.

Gareth says, "Forget the trap Flaust. I've been standing on the area for two minutes now and nothing has happened.

She follows them up the stairs, rolling up her net as she goes.

Flaust says, "Well of all the holy? At least an evil necromancer can have the courtesy of providing a trap where a girl has labored so long to have one."

Onrad skips up the stairs. Aventine does not move. Onrad says, "Aventine! Come on! Time to go!"

Aventine slices at the nearest undead parts of its body splashing up against the hallway wall. "No! Never retreat! Die!"

Onrad thinks for a minute and then says, "Kat and Flaust will never make it down that rope ladder past the undead unless you defend them. Come now, on your honor!"

Aventine slices one more undead, pauses for a second and then says, "Right!"

He turns and runs up the stairs.

Onrad and Aventine enter the laboratory and rush over to the window. Aventine helps both Kat and Flaust down the rope with special care. Aventine then moves to stand beside Jus blocking the undead coming around the side of the tower.

Kat yells, "Everyone across on the land bridge. We're in witches territory now!

Nonam and Gareth shimmies down the rope and over to the land bridge.

Kat casts. A pit forms around the advancing undead and mindlessly they fall in....again....and again....

Onrad says, "To town!"

Everyone takes off at a jog. Before long, Aventine is carrying Flaust's net, and Jus her backpack. Shortly after that, Onrad offers to carry Flaust. Flaust give a look that could kill....and with her looks nearly does.

The party traverses the swamp at the fastest rate that Flaust can manage.

Some time later the city-state of Osto appears in the distance. The group looks behind them and sees that the main body of undead is heading your way like a huge dark cloud perhaps a mile away. The city is completely still. Buildings are boarded up. The guards at the gate quickly motion you inside telling you to get some cover.

John says: Like I said before, either Monday or Tuesday is fine to play. Tina and kids left today for her parent's house. I've already started to go into another room 3 or 4 times, thinking I heard one of my kids calling or screaming. No, I'm not completely crazy, it's just kids playing outside.

Jerry says: The official time is Monday then. Supper at Parkway Grill at 5:00 and begin moving over to my place at 6:30 or so. We'll play till 11:00. The name of the module is "Versus the Black Blades" There will be a door prize just for fun.

Anthony says: Our net has been down two days and I am lost in the turns, please have KAT do something use full and send be the back loged turns 2 days will do and I'll catch back up SOrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyy

Jerry says: No problem....Kat bats her eyes at the undead and says, "I'm your new leader, walk this way please.....The undead all slurr...."Iff weee cudd waalkkk thatttt wayyyy........" Just kidding Anthony.

Jerry says: Anthony, please start sending your turns also to my school address. I'll see that they get in on time. I'll carry them home via disk. :) I know that will work!

Joey says: Hey, Jerry, I believe I will get in on the campaign, but it will be a month or so before I can start playing. One of the things I need to do is go to storage and hunt down my gaming stuff. I also am planning to get a home pc (Nope, I still don't have one yet) within the next few weeks. Right now I'm emailing from work, and I'd like to wait until I can email from home before I start playing. I will keep you posted. Hope everything is going well!

Jerry says: Joey's gonna play? That's it!

Jerry says: Welcome Joey. Looks like you'll be ready about the same time we get ready to transfer the game to the message boards. Joey I need your email address to begin sending you the turns. Keith may have it and be sending you turns, but I don't. :) I missed it somehow. Please send again.

Kat pouts because no one offered to carry her metal underwear!

Aventine says, "Milady, I sense all is not well with you. Is there anything this humble knight can do to lift your spirits?"

Gareth says "Quickly! To the temple!" and runs to the temple of Gargul. Once there he says "Here are the three missing stones. I suggest you use them!" then he asks "Has that traitor Thrasher and the other stone been found!?"

From around a corner, a very drunk individual stumbles forward, "I tham [hic] no thraitor! I tham curshed with thish rokk! Take it anth bee curshed thoo!"

He removes the missing rock from his pocket and tosses it into the air. It travels high and true arching toward the party. It then pauses in midair for a second, and flashes as it becomes a missile heading straight for the head of the drunk.

Aventine, flashes his sword and knocks the thing to the ground. Quickly Flaust picks it up and pockets it, keeping her hand on it to be safe.

Nonam says, "Let's get to the temple and use these stones... we need to find that priest of Wardd too."

Jus gets to the temple and yells for someone to get the priests. He then helps prepare the stones.

The priests lead the way into the Chamber of the Stones, now clean and empty of all except the dias.

The small dais sits on the floor about six inches tall with four short pillars, each about five feet tall , forming a square around it. There is a square in the middle of each about three inches on a side. The pillars have the holy symbols of different Deities carved into the top while the dais has all four carved into it. The four deities: Alemi, Domi, Caeroldra, Gargul.

Onrad turns to Scarff and says, "Any idea of how this thing works?"

Scarff mumbles something and says, "The inscription says, "Neglect none, exalt all. The gods will provide."

David Hott says: Thanks for the change of date on the game. I can now participate. I'm planning on making dinner AND the game.

David continues: I talked to Joey today. He said he has a couple of ideas on some cool characters to run. Anyone who knows Joey knows what that means... We will probably have lunch next week.

JK says: sorry, I haven't been sending in turns. It was a busy week, but I've completed all my requirements for graduation now. So...

Jerry says: All is still go for Monday the 18th. Steve is probably just coming to the meal and then maybe to hang out a bit at the start. Anthony is probably going to just come to the game as he has drama practice after school on Mondays. Ahh the life of a teacher is never done. Scott Carpenter is still a maybe as I haven't talked to him in a few days. All others are assumed to be meeting us at Parkway Grill at 5:00 and then at the game at 6:30-7.

Jerry says: Uh, John. We need to finalize things for the next module. Let's start emailing the plotline back and forth daily or so with each of us adding the final details as we get time. I forget. Which days did you want? I'll take three. You said you could do Wed. which was my hard day. Which other day did you want? Tues?

Jerry says: School should slow down a bit now. I was evaluated Friday and did fine. David, I did a Mnemonic lesson about Different kinds of Energy with some horrible puns like King Etic (Kinetic), Queen Kim I Call, (Chemical) [no pun or anything at all intended Dave....:) Hi Kim I Call] Son "D" (Sound), A cake that is "new clear through" (Nuclear). Yes folks, this is how I make a living......really.

Jerry says: I have three modules to finish up right now. The one for John's party is the first one. The Friday before that I have one to prepare for Pegasus Loft [our local gaming store]. We're running a Woldian game there with the hopes of finding a few players since Steve has not come back and JK is moving in June. JK is helping me with this one and I may ask your help a bit for it as well, seeing that we're going to play The Three vs. The Blight Witches altered a bit to make for a nice showcase of The Wold campaign setting. We're combining that with combating magical drug we dealt with in the local game recently. If it works out well, we might rewrite it again and send it in to Dungeon Magazine. JK and I think that the combination of the two ideas will make a formidable tournament module. Third, John and I have the next online module to finish. It's planned, but needs some final touches and we have to put HD and THACOS etc. on the monsters. :)

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 77
Monday May 18th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Kat turns her back on the group gets changed right there and sits back to watch the priests do their thing.

Jus says, "I think we need priests of Alemi, Domi, Caeroldra, and Gargul! And why do we need the priest of Wardd?"

Nonam sits back and let's the priests do their thing.

Onrad says, "Methinks we need a representative from each of the four gods. Scarrf here is of Gargul. Tiburon of Domi, Flaust of Alemi. We need someone of Caeroldra!"

Scarrf turns to an acolyte and says, " Go get Turrun ! ". The acolyte scurries off into the Temple.

Onrad says, "Does anyone know which stone belongs in which square hole?"

Aventine picks up one and says, " They have a symbol etched in them, let's just match the symbols'. "

Scarrf comes over and looks at the one in Aventines' hand , "That is Gargul's symbol, let me have that one." Scarrf gently takes the stone from Aventine's hand.

Flaust directs the temple helpers to locate the missing Caeroldra priest ASAP. She then looks at the stone she is holding to determine which deity it is associated with. She sees that it has Alemi's symbol on it. "I'll take care of this one, " she says. Tiburon walks over and looks at the remaining two stones. " That one has Domi's symbol on it. I'll take care of it." He picks up the stone.

Jus runs to take a look outside, seeing where the undead are and runs back to the party to report. "We can give you as much time as you need, but you might want to hurry anyway."

Gareth says , " Hurry up, let's get this done. "

Aventine says," Let's start matching these to the pillars while we wait for the other Priest." He picks up the last stone and everyone moves to a different pillar.

Flaust says," This Pillar has Alemi's symbol on it, I bet my stone goes here." She puts the stone in the depression on top and hears a loud 'CLICK'. She tries to move the stone but it is locked in place.

Scarrf moves to the next pillar and says," Here's Gargul's pillar." He puts the stone on top and another loud 'CLICK' echos in the room.

Aventine says, " Tiburon, this one has Domi's mark. Bring your stone here." He then moves to the last pillar.

Tiburon walks over to the pillar and places his stone on top. 'CLICK' goes the stone as it locks in the pillar.

Jus runs outside again and looks to see where the undead are. He runs back in the room and says," They're almost here , let's hurry!"

Aventine looks at the mark on the pillar and then at the stone in his hand. " Guys, I think we have a problem. The symbols are different !"

Turrun walks in the room and looks at everyone's shocked face, " What's going on ?" he asks.

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 78
Wednesday May 20th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

As Kat changes clothes, Jus grins and yells, "Oh no, priests, don't look at her!" He then grabs one of the acolytes and asks them if there are any other entrances besides the ones Gareth is beginning to guard.

The startled acolyte says," A couple, but they all lead into the main worship area."

Nonam calmly says, "Aventine, are you holding the stone upside down?" He continues, "We don't need a priest of Caeroldra. I believe that we were to get a priest of Wardd. That Ogaman fellow as you recall was a priest of Wardd. It seems that his exact words about the stones were, "We used to have four stones that , when used by a Priest of Alemi, Wardd, Domi, and Gargul, placed a sort of shield over the town that kept undead away. These were found to have been stolen when we went to activate them. We need your help to find them and rid us of Som the Dead." Then out of nowhere he says, "Check out Turn #6 from Jan. 11, if you don't believe me."

Kat sits and watches, ready to defend if the undead get to close.

Gareth says "We must prepare for battle! Aventine, Tiberion, Jus, Onrad to the temple door! The rest of you prepare yourselves for an indoor assault.Nonam, I'm sure you and Kat can handle that. (Looking at Kat and smiling) The pit thing sure was nice..." and with that moves to the front of the temple to fend off the attack. Gareth will block entry into the temple in front of the door way. He will move back to the door if necessary but no further. He says "I say we form the line here and only attack those that come to us."

Tiburon says to Gareth," Go ahead, we'll work on figuring out the stone riddle."

Ogamon walks in and says, " Have you got the Stones ? Do you know how to use them ?"

Aventine says," Gareth, if you need me, yell. I'm going to try and help here also."

Onrad examines the symbol and says, "A four leaf clover for a symbol. That's Wardd alright. What the? Hmm....I'll bet Caeroldra isn't too happy about this configuration. Substituting a minor god for one of the big four. Count me out. I'm having nothing to do with this setup. Gareth, I'm joining you outside. Good luck, Oh and lots of love guys....[to himself...nearly slipped up there...whew]

Onrad leaves the room and shuts the door. He sets himself for battle.

Onrad says, "Come Gareth. Let's be about barricading the entrances to this here temple."

Flaust says to Turrun, "We're placing the ward stones in the appropriate niches. It looks like this last stone doesn't share the same symbol as the empty pillar. Maybe there's another niche we're not seeing that this stone belongs in? Or perhaps it goes on the dais? Or are the symbols synonymous?"

Tiburon starts to look around the pillar, " Hey, guys...Look at this ", he says from the back of the pillar. Everyone moves around to the back and sees a four-leaf clover etched into the pillar.

Nonam moves back and looks at the one in the front and says, " This mark isn't as deep as the one on the back... Aventine, try the stone anyway."

Aventine places the stone into the niche on the top of the pillar and hears a loud 'CLICK' as it settles home.

Nonam says," It looks like someone scratched this mark in to fool anyone who was going to use the stones. So, now haw do WE use them ?"

Turrun says, " I've been researching the old legends and it says that the Priest all Blessed their respective stone to activate them. They then talk about a ' Pure ' focus for the power of the stones. After that all they say is that the undead are all destroyed. "

Tiburon asks, " So what is this Focus ? Where do we find it ? What happened to it in the legends ?"

Turrun throws up his hands defensively ," I don't know... they don't say " he says.

Aventine looks around, " I know what it is. Everyone go Bless their Stone."

Flaust begins calls on all four deities, thanking them for their wisdom in providing the stones, and asks for their intervention to turn back the impending invasion.

Gareth-Sorry for last turn. I just replied to Jerry and did not send the turn to Woldian. My mistake. Nothing much lost anyway.

I'm afraid Kim will not be coming to W.F. for the festivities. She has been unable to travel very far in a vehicle lately as she is dealing with being pregnant.

----------

<John says> I just sent an email asking Tina about the dinner. If you want to talk with her yourself, Jerry, she is at her parents house.

<John says> David Hill, will Tina and I get to meet your wife at this dinner?

Anthony: Bring Maria to what?

Jerry says: Welcome Joey. Looks like you'll be ready about the same time we get ready to transfer the game to the message boards. Joey I need your email address to begin sending you the turns. Keith may have it and be sending you turns, but I don't. :) I missed it somehow. Please send again.

Jerry says: Everyone please add Joey's email address and phone number to your address books and macros...:)

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 79
Friday May 22nd, 1998 5:00:40 AM

Kat pouts "Jus, why can't they look at me? They might like what they see." She sits down and pouts!

Nonam positions himself near a window so that he can watch the activation of the stones and the obliteration of the undead at the same time.

Onrad begins to use the pews to barricade the doors into the sanctuary. He then asks Gareth for any of those Holy Water Vials he might have left. Onrad says, "Holy Water might be very effective here in an evil temple. Should affect even the floor for awhile."

Gareth moves to the front of the temple and observes the situation. He says to Onrad, " Those were flasks of Oil, not Holy Water."

He starts to close the temple door and barricades it. Then he moves to one of the side doors .

Listening in to the conversation, Jus volunteers, "Maybe it was referring to a pure soul? Or a paladin or high priest? What if you focus on Aventine?" Jus steps into the worship area and to Gareth he whispers a bit loudly, "Although I'm sure some of us might take exception to that."

Ogamon moves to Wardds pillar and says, " Wardd bless this stone and aid us in our task." As soon as he finishes, a soft blue glow starts to surround the entire pillar.

Tiburon turns to his pillar and prays ," My Lord Domi, bless this stone and grant us your aid. " A soft red glow surrounds the stone on Domi's pillar.

Scarrf prays over his stone, " Gargul, my Lord. Aid us in returning these souls to rest and bless this stone for use in your name." A soft black glow shrouds the pillar holding the stone for Gargul.

Flaust begins calling, "Alemi, please accept this plea and bless this stone. For all defects of our petition to the gods, please use me, even unto death, as recompense, that this town might be spared ." A soft white glow springs up to cover Alemi's pillar .

Flaust, expecting beams of power to emanate from the stones to Aventine, makes sure to stay clear of dias.

Flaust mutters to herself, "Let's hope his arrogance hasn't corrupted his purity. I'd hate to think what thaaat would do."

Aventine looks at Flaust, shakes his head and says," Too bad you aren't wise enough to tell the difference between arrogance and righteousness. Don't judge people until you have traveled the same paths they have." With that he steps upon the center dais. After a moment, the glow surrounding the pillars brightens and solidifies. Aventine says," Domi, Alemi, Wardd, and even Gargul, do with me what you will to spare this town and these people ! " As he speaks each Gods' name a shaft of light reaches out from the pillar to attach itself to Aventine. When all four touch and intermingle, a blindly bright light starts to glow from Aventine's body.

A pulse of light ,in the shape of a ring ,flashes outward from the dias. Nonam looks out the window and sees the ring expanding outward towards the edge of town. As the ring touches an Undead, it bursts into flame and falls to the ground utterly destroyed. Moments later the ring stops expanding, but not before it completely encircles the town.

" You've done it ! " , shouts Turrun, as he turns back to the group. " You've saved the town ! Everyone will be so glad that you Heroes have saved us !"

Tiburon says," But at a great cost. Look at the dias !"

Everyone turns to look at the dias and sees that where Aventine stood is now nothing but the stone of the platform.

Tiburon says, " I wonder if he knew what was going to happen ? If he did, I guess it was more important to him that the town and people survived then himself. "

<John says> Jerry? You out there? Did you get my last message sent directly to you?

David Hill to John: Sorry, John, we won't be able to make it to town...but we'll call. Will Tina [your Tina (inside joke)] be over at the party at Jerry's place? If not, let me know a place where we can call her."

Jerry says: I believe I invited Anthony and Maria to supper the 18th at Parkway Grill. I had forgotten that Anthony can't make that because of rehearsal at school. Sorry Anthony. Scott Carpenter thinks he might be able to come....looks doubtful to me. Left a message for Steve Hott. Should hear from him today. JK, tell your more attractive half that Tina is the only other wife that could possibly come. Erin has committed to both the meal and the game though. So there's two possible females. :)

The Necromancer's Stones: Turn 80
Monday May 25th, 1998 5:00:40 AM

After the obliteration of the swarming undead, the Three are known throughout Osto as heroes, and the group gets a taste of true luxury. The entire day after their triumph, the city celebrates their freedom from Som and his evil minions, and already the bards are singing a new song, "Aventine's Sacrifice."

Everyone laughs it up over dinner at Mistulinoa's, a posh restaurant which serves gourmet elven food. Soon the Ostonian bards piece together the complete story of the "Necromancer's Stones." The song praises the bravery of Gareth Justinian, the talent of Jus the noble elf, the intelligence of Nonam Firstorlast, the wisdom of Tiburon of Domi, the beauty of Kat the Fey witch, the loyalty of Flaust, and the purity of Aventine.

However, after dealing with the threat of the undead, the Three quickly decide that they miss the beauty of Floating City, and they make plans to return. After a few days of festivities in Osto, Gareth announces the group's intention to leave. Immediately a parade is scheduled, and the heroes are escorted out of town by a throng of screaming fans.

The journey back to the big float was rather unremarkable, and the group got along much better than on their trip to Osto. Upon arriving in town, everyone seemed joyous at finally being in a place called home.

The Three found that their fame preceded them, for on their first night back in the Big Float, they heard the haunting melody of "Aventine's Sacrifice" once again.

The group slowly begin to set up in the Big Float until it actually began to feel like home, and several weeks passed until a major event threatened their peace of mind once again.

jk says- OK, that just about does it with the stones story line. Next up are Jerry and John. Let's all hope that they can keep up the excellent level of quality Keith instilled in the last adventure. Now then, pretty much nothing happens for about one month. That means, everyone is at their leisure to go down short little side paths with the DM. That is to say, if you have your heart set on a particular magic item, now is the time to try to get it. Or you can visit your temple, sell treasure, or whatever you want. Next turn will start the new story line. Also expect experience for the whole Necromancer story line to be awarded pretty soon.
