Desperately Seeking Dragons

stairs?

dm
Saturday May 8th, 1999 5:13:59 PM

The party follows Ingrge up to the front entrance, ahuge pair of double doors with a pair of guards on either side. As the party approaches, they ask, "What is your business here today, sirs?"

Shadrach
Saturday May 8th, 1999 8:38:59 PM

Shadrach's shoulders sort of sagged in proportion to how high the Gold Dragon's towers were. He said in a hopeless tone, "The Gold Dragons Joe the Hand and Greymaulkin asked us to come to their palace when we came to New Elenia. We'd like them to know we're here."

Ingrge
Saturday May 8th, 1999 8:39:00 PM

Trying to be as diplomatic and pleasant as possible, Ingrge looks up at the speaking guard and states well, "Our business is kinda private but, we are here to speak with Joe Hand and or Greymaulk. We carry personal messages for Grey about his most recent Student K'nara and we need to talk with Joe about the situation in the Emerald Forest as well. So will you announce us or do we just go in?"

Figment
Sunday May 9th, 1999 7:47:59 PM

looks at the guards trying to see any insignias or other designations trying to look like he belongs with these guys.

Olana
Sunday May 9th, 1999 10:59:59 PM

Olana smiles sweetly at the guards, hoping there won't be any trouble - after all - if they couldn't gain admittance here, then all the other places would probably prove just as troublesome if not moreso. She stands there, attempting to looks as though she walks in here every day, and that talking to the guards was a mere formality

Flueterflam
Monday May 10th, 1999 1:42:59 AM

Fluet smiles, unslings his lute, and begins to play the song he made for Joe and his wife (in the cell). While he plays, he creates a new verse or two, and tries to get the others to join in and relieve some of their tension. After stress is a powerful thing, if not hurtful as well.

Shadrach
Monday May 10th, 1999 4:18:59 AM

Shad rolled his eyes at Fluet. What was it about bards, every time they met somebody they wanted to play a stupid song...

DM
Monday May 10th, 1999 4:53:59 AM

One of the guards speaks to Shad, "Neither Joe Hand nor Greymaulk is here presently. In fact, none of the Gold Dragons are here right now. If you really need one, Mycroft would be the easiest to find. He's over at his office."

Ingrge
Monday May 10th, 1999 6:12:59 AM

Hmm don't know him but perhaps he can be of some assistance. Can you show us where his office is?

Guard
Monday May 10th, 1999 5:32:59 PM

"Not from around here, eh? He's a minor government official. In charge of land grants or something like that. It's in one of the govt buildings on Cutlass Street across from the High Lord Mayor's. Look for the one with the crowd outside."

Shadrach
Monday May 10th, 1999 6:12:59 PM

He groaned with impatience. "That'll be the line, I expect. This Mycroft guy isn't going to know us, and he's probably as busy as the Lord Mayor. We'd better get a place in line."

Figment
Monday May 10th, 1999 8:04:59 PM

asks the helpful guard 3 questions and let's them respond between each one. "Are Joe and Grey in the city? Do you have any idea when Joe or Grey will return? And will you will tell them we came by?". Once they respond he thanks them.

Ingrge
Monday May 10th, 1999 8:39:59 PM

Ingrge adds to figments questions with one of his own. Do you know how to get hold og Joe or Grey in the case of emergency? and if so how?

The Talkative Guard
Monday May 10th, 1999 9:22:59 PM

"I don't believe either Joe Hand or Greymaulk is in the city. They were here briefly, but they left early this morning. Greymaulk went to Izen, I believe, and Joe Hand down to South Harbor. I have no idea when they'll return. They don't exactly inform me of their plans. And yes I know how to contact them in an emergency. But I'm only supposed to do so if this castle is being attacked. I'm not their errand boy or their messenger. I just guard the door."

Olana
Monday May 10th, 1999 9:24:59 PM

The elf leans and whispers to Shad. "You know - when we get to the line, and it's too long, maybe we can create some kind of diversion to lure people away." And then, looking a little puzzled. "Not quite sure what though."

Dokenor
Monday May 10th, 1999 9:50:59 PM

"Luck will let us be first in line." He winks.

Figment
Monday May 10th, 1999 10:09:59 PM

"Thank you for your time. Is it possible for us to leave Joe and Grey a message?" Figment pulls out a piece of parchment and a pen and ink well. "So what do you want to write?"

Olana
Tuesday May 11th, 1999 9:30:59 PM

Olana chuckles and smiles at Doke. "Well - you just never know." While Figment, Ingrge and Shad talk to the guards, she hums along to Fluet's tune and watches the streets behind them, looking to see if she recognises any faces from the crowd that gathered earlier. Maybe someone had thought to follow them - and maybe they hadn't.

Shadrach
Tuesday May 11th, 1999 11:55:59 PM

"'Parnath deplores threatening actions of New Elenia'?" The Bonze offered his ideas. He sighed to Dok and Olana. "Probly won't work. We'll probly be there all day. I suppose we could try, though."

Flueterflam
Wednesday May 12th, 1999 4:02:59 AM

Fluet is content with his song, yet ready to go leave with the others. He suddenly has a feeling that this 'mission' is going to be much more hindering than they might have all expected. Although he hopes that his stomach might just be telling him that he should eat soon.

Guard
Wednesday May 12th, 1999 4:28:59 PM

The guard waits for Figment to finish his note.

Figment
Wednesday May 12th, 1999 6:51:59 PM

not getting any help says "Oh well, I'll write it myself then." In a beautiful flowing style he draws up a letter "To our good friends Greymalkin and Joe Hand, We have been sent by Parnoth to deliver a treatise to the High Lord Mayor in an attempt to avert a war between EK and NE due to the latest incident in which you were involved. We wished to tell you about K'nara and see if you've heard from her. And also see if you had any need of us while we are in town. we are going to the High Lord Mayors office to deliver the message. Please find us there if you wish. Thank you." He pauses, looks up and says "So what name do they know you by?" When he gets the input he writes it down, rolls and seals the parchment, and hands it to the guard.

Ingrge
Wednesday May 12th, 1999 8:15:59 PM

Well with the reference to K'nara in there they should know who its from, just sign it the Emerald Kingdom Misfits and lets go see this other fellow.

Olana
Wednesday May 12th, 1999 9:02:59 PM

The elf hears Ingrge and breaks into a smile."The Emerald Kingdom Misfits?" Chuckling quietly she gets ready to move out now that the note to Joe and Grey has been handed over. To Figment, she adds - "I'm glad you wrote that - I'm sure you would have worded it a lot better than I could." When they leave the palace, she will walk along, toward the rear of the party, keeping her eyes alert for anything that might threaten them.

Figment
Wednesday May 12th, 1999 10:35:59 PM

smiles at Olana "Thanks."

The Guard
Thursday May 13th, 1999 2:21:59 AM

The guard takes the note, "My name is Thundar. I'll be sure they get your message."

Shadrach
Thursday May 13th, 1999 6:33:59 AM

"Are you a barbarian?" Shad seemed to think this quite funny, and giggled while following the others.

Ingrge
Thursday May 13th, 1999 2:55:59 PM

Handing Thundar a gold piece, Ingrge says, Thank you Thundar. If you could see that they get that as soon as possible we would appreciate it. he then moves along with the others to find this golden administrator. Stating to no one in particular, I will at some point need to refresh my spell components. particularly before we have to do much more fighting.

Figment
Thursday May 13th, 1999 5:54:59 PM

Thanks the guard and begins to move toward the High Lord Mayor's place. "I suggest we go get in line and try to get in today. That way it's finished and you can be done with this 'mission'."

Thundar
Thursday May 13th, 1999 7:21:59 PM

Thundar mumbles something about people always asking that and waves goodbye.

Shadrach
Thursday May 13th, 1999 8:00:59 PM

Shad sets off to the Lord Mayor's palace and get in line.

Olana
Thursday May 13th, 1999 9:43:59 PM

Glancing back at the guard, Olana then says to Shad, "Quite a nice name for a barbarian, isnt it," smiling innocently and completely unaware of the pun.

Flueterflam
Friday May 14th, 1999 7:12:59 PM

Fluet merrily follows the others. Preoccupied with his own thoughts.

Shadrach
Saturday May 15th, 1999 9:41:59 PM

"I don't dunno, wonder what a barbarian is doing being a guard?" Shad didn't get the pun.

DM
Sunday May 16th, 1999 5:08:59 PM

After a pleasant walk through Gladiator Park, the party soon arrives at the High Lord Mayor's Castle. Perhaps at one time this was an imposing fortress, but now little bureaucrats scamper about delivering messages and carrying out the business of state. It's obviously a very different system than the one Parnoth uses. Guards stand at the front entrance, but make no move to stop the people going in and out.

Figment
Sunday May 16th, 1999 7:19:59 PM

looks for a place to stable his horse along the way to the High Lord Mayor's. He make's sure and tip the stable hands nicely (3 gp) saying "Take good care of him and there's more for you when I return.". As they approach the huge place he walks staight in looking for the correct line.

Ingrge
Sunday May 16th, 1999 10:02:59 PM

Ingrge walks up to the nearest Guard, stops in front of him and says, " Excuse me we've never been here before and we are here on urgent business for Greymaulk and Joe Hand and we need to see the mayor as soon as possible. Can you help us?"

Shadrach
Monday May 17th, 1999 7:40:59 AM

Shad waited to see how Ingrge's chat went and muttered to Figment. "You paid those stablehands way too much just to stable a horse. Are you from a well-off family?

DM
Monday May 17th, 1999 4:28:59 PM

"I'm just a guard. Go to the information desk inside. Oh and unless you really have a message marked with a seal from one of the Gold Dragons, don't bother telling them that you're on urgent business for them.

Figment
Monday May 17th, 1999 6:43:59 PM

"Would you show me this message of yours? I strongly suggest we go the the info desk and that you state who you really are and who you represent. I would be willing to bet that they will take it very seriously. And I doubt the Gold Dragons will like it much if you throw their name around - even if you can.". Figment waits to see the message and then heads for the information desk.

Ingrge
Monday May 17th, 1999 11:03:59 PM

Hmmph, well fine, umm what was that Figment? Oh the message. Shadrach has that and it does have a dragons seal on it. Just not a "Gold Dragons" seal. The message, we are told is a warning and threat from Parnoth to the Lord High Mayor, pertaining to Grey and Joe and the business we were all in on together. So In that sense we are on Gold Dragon business, just not directly. I just want to get this over with and out of this god bedeviled city and back to some civilized forest.

Olana
Tuesday May 18th, 1999 3:36:59 AM

Olana peers inside and then looks at the others. "Oh well, lets go in the and see what happens at the desk. I hope this doesnt turn out to be some administrative nightmare. Once they see that Parnoth seal, they may consider it very important." The elf then steps inside to look for the desk in question.

DM
Tuesday May 18th, 1999 4:48:59 PM

A big desk, obviously the one in question, stands in the center of the room. It is largely being ignored as people dart here and there without the need for information.

Shadrach
Tuesday May 18th, 1999 11:30:59 PM

Shad looked at Ingrge and shrugged. Then he strode up to the big desk. He pulled out the scroll and said, "We come with a message from Parnath, Green Dragon of the Emerald Kingdom. We'd like to deliver it to the Lord Mayor."

Figmet
Wednesday May 19th, 1999 12:41:59 AM

smirks and thinks to himself, "Well, at least we will get their attention."

Ingrge
Wednesday May 19th, 1999 3:17:59 AM

Ingrge looks at Shad and grins, "i think I'm rubbing off."

DM
Wednesday May 19th, 1999 4:48:59 PM

Looking doubtful that band is a group of diplomats, the man behind the desk glances at the seal. He instantly seems satisfied, and his voice betrays no doubt when he speaks, "Certainly sir. Do your orders require that you hand deliver it, or you would like to have a page bring it to him while you wait for a response in one of the guest rooms?"

Shadrach
Wednesday May 19th, 1999 5:23:59 PM

"Um" Shad glanced at the others quickly. "Deliver it personally?" He seemed uncertain. He quickly grabbed Ingrge and whispered, "Response? Do you think we're gonna get stuck having to GO BACK to that damn dragon?"

Figment
Wednesday May 19th, 1999 6:36:59 PM

seeing the uncertainty of the group says "We are required to deliver it personally. Our instructions are to see it in his hands. It is of vital import that this be done quickly. We would, however, be able to wait for a response in one of your rooms if the High Lord Mayor deems it necessary. We would need to discuss the terms of transporting the response back if one is needed.

Olana
Thursday May 20th, 1999 3:20:59 AM

Stood there alongside the others at the desk, Olana can't help overhearing what Shad has to say to Ingrge. "Now that would be interesting, wouldnt it," she adds. "Especially if the Mayor's response didn't meet with Parnoth's approval." And then, "I think we need to deliver it personally. Then we will have a good indication of what his response is likely to be. Forewarned is forearmed, yes?"

Ingrge
Thursday May 20th, 1999 6:27:59 AM

To Shad and the official, I think we will deliver ourselves thank you very much and if possible we will wait to see if there is need for immediate response or if it needs wait awhile. As my friend here says we may need a bit of time to figure out how, if it is necessary, that a response is to be returned, as we do not deem it politically expedient for us to return to the Emerald Forest at this time.

Dokenor
Thursday May 20th, 1999 9:39:59 AM

Doke is in obvious comprehension as his fellow speaks dramatically and diplomatically. All he does is nod his head at the big words, and eye the guard as if he is a big-wig.

Shadrach
Thursday May 20th, 1999 6:17:59 PM

Shad looked glum and worried. He'd really thought that would be the last time they'd see Parnath.

Figment
Thursday May 20th, 1999 6:32:59 PM

looks directly at the person behind the desk and does not waiver as the others speak. He waits for a response.

DM
Thursday May 20th, 1999 7:29:59 PM

The little bureaucrat behind the desk lifts a tiny little hammer and strikes a bell hanging from a little tripod on his desk, and a teenage boy rushes to the desk. "Tlokko, please see these guests to..." he ruffles through some papers on the desk, "... the East Ruby Room, and then make sure that they are the High Lord Mayor's next guests. They have an urgent message from the Emerald Kingdom." The boy nods his head and mummers, "If you would follow me, sirs?" He then begins to walk down the hall after making sure that the party is following him. He heads to a massive staircase and ascends two levels, makes a right turn, and opens a pair of huge gilded doors. "If you would deign to rest her for the mayor, I will make certain that you are his next appointment." He pops his head into the room and looks around, "My apologies but there are no refreshments in the room. Would you like something brought while you wait?"

Figment
Thursday May 20th, 1999 10:07:59 PM

"Yes please. We are tired and have not eaten since we arrived in the city. Since our time to see the mayor is relatively short perhaps some drinks and a small snack would be appropriate. Also a wash basin or two so we can make ourselves somewhat presentible to The High Lord Mayor. Thank you."

Olana
Friday May 21st, 1999 1:50:59 AM

Olana lets her eyes wander as they walk through and ascend the stairs, taking in the full extent of the interior. As the boy asks if they would like refreshment, she gives him a winning smile. "Oooh, yes, that would be lovely." Once he has left them, she exclaims to the others, "Well - we've got this far at least."

Ingrge
Friday May 21st, 1999 7:23:59 AM

As soon as the lad has left to fetch some refreshments, Ingrge looks around at the others and says, " I'm not at all sure i want to return to the Emerald Kingdom under any circumstances, while Parnoth is around unless it is with an undefeatable army at my back. I mean as I recall, the leader of the TINES told us that if we protected J & G that they could protect us from having to do anything further for Parnoth. I see how long that lasted. Any way we need to discuss how we want this conversation with the Mayor to go. Any thoughts??

Olana
Friday May 21st, 1999 11:24:59 PM

The elf thinks for a moment. "Well - Parnoth said the message was a warning, did he not, because Joe and Grey had ventured into his Kingdom? If the Mayor just shrugs and lets things lie, then we probably don't have much to worry about. But if he wishes to send a reply along the lines of suggesting that Parnoth fries his own toenails, then of of course that is something else entirely. I wonder if this Mayor is the excitable type?"

Shadrach
Saturday May 22nd, 1999 7:45:59 AM

Shad sat down tiredly. "Not having those stupid amulets would help if we ever did go back. But Parnath may have used strong language, threats, or demands in the scroll. Who knows." He winced. "Not to mention that He plans to blame me and Olana for relocating the elves, who he doesn't seem to think deserve any consideration whatsoever."

Flueterflam
Sunday May 23rd, 1999 5:54:59 AM

Not having taken part in most of the frenzy, Fluet suddenly took Shad's comment into consideration. "You know, maybe there's something involved that you don't know about. Don't get me wrong either, I'm not siding with Parnoth, but his entire argument against you seemed rather....um....unique. Yes, I guess I'd have to say that he left something out. Maybe he was telling the truth, just not all of it." Fluet shrugs his shoulders then rubs his hands, as they feel suddenly very tired and worn out. "Hey, maybe we can stay here after our 'mission' is done, and not have to return to Emerald Kingdom. Actually, last I knew, which I might be wrong about, is that I, and I assume the rest of you, never signed any contract saying I had to reside permanently in Emerald Kingdom."

Figment
Sunday May 23rd, 1999 5:42:59 PM

"Did Parnoth ask you to return? If not then I think he let you off the hook. You are not marked as emmisaries so you I doubt he expected you would come back. Otherwise he would have taken steps to guarantee that you would return. Besides, he can't come and get you here anyway. Wouldn't that violate a treaty and put his land at risk? He could send someone but that's about it. But beware if you defy him and try to go back. Green dragons are not very friendly - or so I've read."

DM
Sunday May 23rd, 1999 6:47:59 PM

Some servants enter with a cart of refreshments. There are a pair of bottles of white wine from the nearby Gnowsy Vinyards as well as a pitcher of water. Spread out on a silver tray is a selection of finely sliced meats, cheeses, and crispy pieces of bread.

Figment
Sunday May 23rd, 1999 8:15:59 PM

eyes the food, he picks up the bread and feels the texture, he smells the meat and examines the color of the cheese. "Not bad. Not the best which I'm sure is reserved for the higher level leaders, but not bad...". He then reads the wine bottles, opens one and smells the cork. He then pours a small amount in a wine glass and holds it up to the light. He takes a sip and swishes it around in his mouth. "An above average vintage. Probably some of the best sold to the public. But there does exist better... folks, I'd suggest you eat it. And clean up as well." He then commences pouring the water in a basin and begins to clean up from his long trip.

Dokenor
Sunday May 23rd, 1999 10:51:59 PM

Doke watches the ritual performed by Figment with contempt, "You rate the free food? What does it matter if it was the wine of the King or the bread of the peasantry?" He shakes his head while slowly munching on the bread.

Olana
Monday May 24th, 1999 12:40:59 AM

Olana takes some of the water to drink. Although Figment said the wine was good, she does not imbibe. Wine made her giddy - and this was no time to be giddy. She also makes a tiny sandwich with some of the meat and bread. She then looks to Fluet and sighs. "Unfortunately, I have to go back. I need to see what will happen to my tribe and help them all I can. Like Shad said. Parnoth intends hardship for them, and so I have no choice but to return."

Ingrge
Monday May 24th, 1999 1:16:59 AM

Pulling a trencher from his pack, Ingrge helps himself to some of what is offered, looks at the wine, pours some in a glass and fills the other half with water and then finds himself a seat. "I too must return, though my reasons are not totally altruistic, nodding at Olanna, for i have no true family or home to call mine own, except for Folbre and his inn. But now that he has closed his inn.........

Flueterflam
Monday May 24th, 1999 2:49:59 AM

Fluet frowns. "I'm sorry." He sits down next to Olana. Then he pats her back in empathy, too shy and afraid to put his arm around her, to comfort her. "I'll admit, that's the easy way out," looking straight into her eyes, "if you want me to, I'll come back with you and do everything I can to help.....you too Shad." He has some meat and cheese and a little water to fill him up. After all, he seems to not be able to remember how long it's been since he ate last.

Figment
Monday May 24th, 1999 3:14:59 AM

smiles at Doke's remark "Surely you don't view this food as free. You have earned it. You did the bidding of your sovreign and at the same time did a great service for New Elanna. This food is bought and paid for many times over if even PART of what you've told is true. So eat the food you've earned. Now as for my evaluation, I always look at food to make sure I don't miss anything new. Lots of culinary changes in the Wold lately. It's always good to keep up.". Figment smiles as he makes himself a sandwich that looks more like a work of art than a snack.

DM
Monday May 24th, 1999 4:19:59 PM

After what must have been less than half an hour, the door opens with no pomp or ceremony and a tall, powerful man with golden hued skin and bright eyes steps into the room. His dress is ornate but utilitarian, as if he's only wearing as much finery as his office requies and no more. You don't get the idea that he is uncomfortable with ornate clothes but instead has a keen realization of what is and is not proper. He is dressed in exactly what is proper with no added frills. As he closes the door behind him he says, "Greetings, I am Sturtevent. Sorry to have kept you waiting. I was told you had a message for me from King Parnoth."

Ingrge
Monday May 24th, 1999 5:45:59 PM

As the doors open Ingrge puts down his trencher and stands. At the mayor's greeting Ingrge looks over at Shad and then the rest of the group and says "yes that is true though I would call him tyrant, not king. I am called Ingrge Nightseer, thank you for the refreshments. I will let the others introduce themselves as they see fit.

Figment
Monday May 24th, 1999 8:28:59 PM

finishing his snack before the mayor's entrance, Figment rises and bows in respect when he comes in but looks to the others to take it from here as he knows he can be of no futher service until the message is delivered and read.

Figment
Monday May 24th, 1999 8:31:59 PM

He cringes as Ingrige calls Parnoth a tyrant in the presence of the mayor. "I hope they know better than to show disrespect for their sovriegn in the presence of a king!" he thinks.

Flueterflam - maw
Tuesday May 25th, 1999 12:46:59 AM

"Hello, I am Flueterflam. You'll have to excuse some of our remarks. We have not had ample time to rest for quite some time now. Some of us have had unpleasant encounters with Parnoth, which are still fresh in mind. Anyhow, we came not to talk of ourselves, but to deliver the message."

Olana
Tuesday May 25th, 1999 7:32:59 AM

The elf smiles at Fluet. "That's very kind of you," she says. As the mayor enters, Olana stands, smiles pleasantly and gives a polite bow, wondering what the heck to do with the half -eaten sandwich still in her hand.

Shadrach
Tuesday May 25th, 1999 7:58:59 AM

Shad wasn't sure whether bow or salute. He decided on a from the waist short bow. "Ah, Yes, your Honor." Taking a nervous breath, Shad pulled out the scroll, walking up to the Mayor and handing it to him with a bow. Once it was taken, the cleric stepped back with the others to wait with foreboding.

DM
Tuesday May 25th, 1999 9:03:59 PM

Sturtevent unrolls the scroll and immediately gets a shocked look on his face. He obviously hasn't read the enitre message, but still, he asks, "Are any of you aware of what this letter contains?"

Ingrge
Tuesday May 25th, 1999 10:09:59 PM

"Umm," stammered Ingrge. "We only know what we were told it contained, in the most basic sense, and whether that was true we do not know." We were told that it was a warning because Joe and Grey broke a truce between the Emerald Kingdom and New Elenna by going to the Emerald Kingdom. Outside of that we know nothing."

Olana
Tuesday May 25th, 1999 10:57:59 PM

Olana looks at the others uneasily, after witnessing the reaction of the Mayor to Parnoth's letter. To the Mayor she asks politely, "Perhaps you could enlighten us?"

Flueterflam
Wednesday May 26th, 1999 12:25:59 AM

"I knew this wouldn't be easy. Something always has to complicate things."

Figment
Wednesday May 26th, 1999 7:16:59 PM

looks on in dismay as he sees the mayor's reaction. He thinks to himself "What have you gotten yourself into now old boy? Not exactly what you had in mind so it seems. This should be interesting to say sthe least!". To the mayor he says "Green Dragons are not known for their willingness to explain things to their subordinates. I'm sure there is much in the communique that is completely unknown to us."

DM
Thursday May 27th, 1999 7:35:59 AM

"Good. There are things contained herein that you shouldn't know... that Parnoth shouldn't know." He continues reading and starts to mumble something about the incredibly thick-headed Joe Hand being too obstinate, self-absorbed, and wallowing in his own misery. The more he reads the angrier he gets. 'Til finally he rushes to the door and throws it open and grabs the first page in sight, "Inform any of the so-called Gold Dragons in the city that I intend to speak to them. RIGHT NOW!" Then he turns and comes back into the room. He waits a minute and calms himself down, "Excuse my outburst, but Joe Hand has vastly overstepped his authority, and Greymaulk should have known better and stopped him. Joe seems to think that having once been married to the monarch gives him some sort of authority beyond law and custom. He would plunge our nation into war because he feels lonely. Not to mention what would have happened had Parnoth confronted the two personally... they'd be dead and then there would have been no stopping Valdor from doing the same fool thing... But these aren't your concerns, I appologize for venting my frustration on you. I realize you were merely the messengers." Next Sturtevent looks at the message again, and he begins to look slightly embarrassed. "I'm afraid that part of this message pertains to you as well, and it pains me to have to be the one to inform you all of this. Parnoth should have done it himself... It seems you've offended your lord dragon for he has exiled all of you from the Emerald Kingdom. You are not to return upon pain of death. I'm truly sorry. I imagine you must all have friends and family back home. Though it may be of small consolation, you are certainly welcome to stay here."

Clearly taken aback by his new friends situation - disgusted that the dragon would handle this in such a cowardly fashion - and hoping to capitalize on their behalf, Figment bows low trying to restrain himself. He speaks quietly and deliberately, "Your hospitality is most kind. It would seem we need a place to stay while we consider our options for the future. Perhaps we could discuss our plight with Joe and Greymaulk as well at some point. We have some news for Grey of a personal nature.". He looks at the others in hopes that they can hold themselves together as their hearts sink.

A soft sigh of relief escaped the priest. "Could've been worse." He frowned at the Lord Mayor. "Pardon me,your honor, but how likely does war look?"

Ingrge
Thursday May 27th, 1999 10:21:59 PM

A pensive look on his face as the mayor vents his frustration, turns to one of mild disbelief and annoyance at hearing of their exile. "Hmmph, Do a dragon a favor and see what it gets you?:: looking off in the distance:: Well I suppose it is better than other alternatives. Though I have to say, there will be a reckoning, some day. Parnoth will answer for his attrocities.

Dokenor
Friday May 28th, 1999 12:18:59 PM

Doke's jaw drops as he is told the news of his exile. "I don't care what the dragon tells me, I'm going home when this escapade is over with. Which it just about is." His fists clench and his teeth grit, "I'm really sick of Parnoth. Really sick and tired of his greedy antics."

"Why are you so willing to offer us refuge? If you don't mind me asking. And also, what do we do now? This certainly means what home any of us may have had, we can't live at anymore. Now we're homeless, jobless, and somewhat confused as to where to begin our 'new' lives."

Sturtevent
Monday May 31st, 1999 3:56:59 PM

"War isn't likely at this point for Parnoth will maintain the alliance against the Darklord at any cost... and the cost is especially high for him for he is doing all the magical fighting himself. And as far as why I offered you refuge, it's the type of thing normal, kind people do for others when they've been kicked out of their homes. Plus this is a big kingdom. IT's not like I offered you the room next to mine. Should it be too STRANGE for you then you can go to someother kingdom. Perhaps Osto would be more to your liking. Now if you ladies and gentlemen would excuse me for a minute I have some Gold Dragons to yell at. If you would wait here, I'll see if any of them will speak with you after we're done." He turns and leaves.

shrugs a bit and says "I'm sorry for the bad news. I know what it is like to be kicked out of your home, but I've never been threatened with my life should I return... Guys, let's take what hospitality we can get, rest a day or two, and then decide what to do next. If you want to attempt to return, or find work here for a while, or whatever we should at least graciously accept what the mayor has offered. He did not do this to you, Parnoth did. He is not the enemy, he is your friend. We would do well to harbor his favor - and that of the Gold Dragons - if both can actually be had ...

Ingrge
Tuesday June 1st, 1999 1:16:59 AM

Hmm, I wonder if he actually is going to yell at the Golden Dragons, or if that is just a figure of speech? Ah well, I guess the first things we need to do are arrange for temporary lodging and then decide what we do and if we want to do it together. That and i really want to find out jut how much gold this scroll brought forth.

Olana looks sad but determined, on hearing the news of their exile. Looking at Doke, she adds,"I must also return too, somehow........" Watching the Mayor disappear, and listening to the others, she agrees with both Figment and Ingrge. "Well - we need somewhere to stay for now, and yes - we do need to consider our next move. Should we wait to see if one of the Gold Dragons will see us? To be honest, I'm rather tired," Pausing to run a hand through her hair, she continues - "And this is bad news we've been given."

Dokenor

"If the Gold Dragons feel like they played a role in your exile they will probably not only see you but they will help you as well. They ARE the good guys - even if the mayor is angry. Notice he didn't say he was going to try and punish them or anything, just complain loudly."

In answer to Dokenor's question, after Sturtevent leaves, you hear a loud angry voice in the hall, "VALDOR! WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG. I NEED SOME ANSW..." The door finishes closing and the rest is lost. The snacks look good and the room is pretty comfortable. You all feel that you are expected to stay, but then again, there aren't any guards at the door. And you didn't hear anyone lock it either.

Ingrge
Tuesday June 1st, 1999 9:55:59 PM

look lets hang around and see what happens right now. I suggest we eat drink and rest until someone comes to tellus something else. also lets pull out that gold and see just what the scroll brought us.

Eats some more of the food. "I'd be quick about the gold. I doubt they have in mid we do private business while here. But this would be a pretty safe place to do it. You may want to split it up so that if one person gets robbed then less is lost."

Wednesday June 2nd, 1999 6:28:59 AM

"It might be the time," Shad said quietly as he drank wine. "If we are indeed going separate ways...I'm not sure what I want to do next. It's suicide to openly oppose Parnath. And I'm not sure of my infamy among the elves of the Emerald Kingdom. I'd like to help them, but there's good reasons why no Gold Dragons have killed Parnath. Joe had ample reason when Parnath proclaimed his children evil before the entire court. Yes, I asked. That was our old friend the Dragon in human form at the to-do. If Parnath's might could be made unnecessary....he'd fall quickly before massing enemies. If he were replaced, say, or the forces he guards against neutralized...Figment, you seem to know a fair amount of the major players in the Wold. What do you think?"

DM

The gold count is 10,000. With everyone but Fluet helping in the counting, it takes about 1/2 an hour.

Figment

"First, you better put up that gold. We wouldn't want it to be known we have a lot of it. Especially if the Mayor is going to help us. We'll get more that way." He turns to Shad "If Parnoth is opposing the Dark Lord with magic, and is doing so successfully, I doubt many beings in the Wold have the power to kill him. He's clearly providing a service useful to the mayor as he has no desire to anger him. I think perhaps there is more to Parnoth than meets the eye... I doubt you can return without him knowing. I also doubt he'll negotiate unless he feels that there is something else you can do for him. If Parnoth plus this kingdom with groups like the Gold Dragons can't defeat the Dark Lord, but merely repel him, I doubt you'll find Parnoth dying or losing power any time soon. If you were to play a part in the Dark Lord's destruction it may give you leverage with him - but I doubt it. Maybe Joe and Grey could figure out a way for you to return from time to time. My bet is that he'll kill you quickly if you return. By the way, is Parnoth evil - or do you just not like him."

Having counted up the gold and divided it among the group for holding, Ingrge looks around and says i think that we might want to change some of this into more easily carried things like gems or find a bank

Olana

The elf helps count the cash and puts away carefully the amount she has been given to carry. Then she sits quietly with the others, waiting for one of the Gold Dragons to show.Glancing at Figmant, she says "Parnoth evil? I would say so - but in politics its all relative I suppose."

As the party waits the wiley mage says "Upon further consideration, Ingrige, I have a suggestion. We should convert the gold because it belonged to Parnoth. He will notice it gone - if he hasn't already - and he will look for it. It would be good for it not to be in our possession when he catches up with it. So trading it in soon would be wise - most wise...". When the door opens Figment pops up and says "Certainly! It would be an honor." And follows his new companions as they leave.

Ingrge

Rising and aknowledging the newcomer, Ingrge ssays "Dinner would be a most welcome distraction this evening. Meanwhile though can you suggest where we might find suitable temporary housing and an honest money changer?"

Dokenor
Thursday June 3rd, 1999 9:15:59 PM

Dokenor just stares at the newcommer with blank eyes and he turns his attention to Ingrge and Fig, "I think we should go to the local Gambling Hall, and double Parnoth's money. Then we can give half to the local Wardd Church and half to the peasants of this fine city."

Olana
Friday June 4th, 1999 12:41:59 AM

Olana stands and stares for a moment at the man in the eye-popping outfit and then, remembering her manners, smiles and bows politely. "Dinner would be very nice," she agrees. As they walk along she whispers to Ingrge. "You don't think we'd be cheated out of the rightful exchange for this gold, do you?"

Shadrach
Friday June 4th, 1999 2:28:59 AM

"Maybe tomorrow, Dokenor?" Shad whispered. He grinned at the newcomer. "So you're a friend of Joe and Grey? We were just returning the favor after they helped us out. I'm Shadrach, servant of Donyra, and I'd go out with the Darklord right now if he offered to take me to dinner." He offered his hand.

Ingrge
Saturday June 5th, 1999 10:19:59 PM

Sunday June 6th, 1999 4:17:59 PM

"Dinner it is. Come by the house about 7:00. You know the one, right? Honest money changer?" The man laughs. "Tell you what take this note," he grabs a piece of paper from somewhere, scribbles away, stamps it with a signet ring, and hands the note to Ingrge. "to whichever money lender you choose, and they won't cheat you too badly." He pauses a moment and looks at the group, "You'd probably better change clothes too. Mustn't get Mycroft upset. You know how he is." He starts scribbling away again, "Take this note to Von der Boore's over in the Open Palm Market, and he'll fix you up. Anything else? No? Great, see you all at 7:00." He turns and leaves.
