Into the Courtyard

Where to go(DM)  d4=2
Friday November 26th, 1999 1:38:59 AM

Everyone climbs down the rope safely, except for Flueterflam, who looses his grip the last few feet and takes 2pts of falling damage. Once everyone is gathered in the courtyard, they can see the shattered remains of the coach smashed up against the wall, but other than that, the way to the gate seems to be clean, about 80 ft away. A heave mist appears in the gate, but it doesn't seem to be disturbed by the high winds swirling around the area. Speaking of winds, there is a huge crash from behind the mansion, and everyone can see that the huge funnel of wind has just landed on the ground! It's about 60ft tall, 20ft wide, and heading towards the mansion quickly!. And to make matters worse, everyone can hear the groans of the undead at the window everyone just exited, and it looks like they are getting ready to jump out in order to pursue you! Meanwhile, Milo, having calmed himself a bit and having himself a little snack, may make another perception check, as may Shadrach

Seeing there isn't a moment to spare the mage races to the gate at top speed. Once there he begins to climb the gate. He uses the carriage if it makes it faster.

Milo  d20=3
Friday November 26th, 1999 6:49:59 AM

With something sweet in his stomach, Milo thoughtfully gazes about the mist, trying to decide what to do next... He absentmindedly slips the rest of his raisins in his satchel and stands up, looking about calmly as he brushes himself off.(ooc... made it by a mile)

Shadrach  d20=9
Friday November 26th, 1999 5:46:59 PM

Shad hovered around Milo, making him look like he was smoking. *Hey* he said silently, *the guys are outside!*

Ingrge
Friday November 26th, 1999 8:44:59 PM

Reaching the ground, Ingrge takes a moment to access the situation and then heads to the gate as fast as possible (is there a gate house?)and then will check to see if it is locked or just closed.

K'nara
Saturday November 27th, 1999 2:15:59 PM

Spotting the unwelcome undead massing at the window, the woman warrior scowled. "Damn...I was hoping to avoid this, but we can't have monsters like that running around loose..." K'nara reached for her sword, then was struck by a notion, and, instead, quickly shrugged off her backpack and burrowed into it, rummaging for and finding her flask of oil. It was not lamp oil, true, but the type used to keep her blade in tip-top shape...but it was quite flammable nonetheless. She gauged the approximate spot where the pursuing zombies would have to land and poured the contents of the flask into a large puddle on the ground, tossing the flask aside after it was empty. "Hey...anybody else got flammable liquid?" she asked as she drew her sword, uttering the command word to ignite it and then setting fire to the oil. "This should slow those zombies down a bit...now let's haul our butts outta here!" The human bladesinger nudged her group along, once more bringing up the rear so that she could defend their retreat.

Olana
Sunday November 28th, 1999 6:48:59 PM

Watching K'Nara starting the fire, the elf runs and picks up a few pieces of the coach to hurl into the flames as added fuel. "Horrible place," she mutters to herself while doing so. "What a horrible place that was......" She is careful not to look up at the monstrosities at the window as she does so. Then - she will run for the gate, and climb or try and break through - anything to get away as quick as she can, the memories of the interior of the place crawling through her innards like worms.

Flueterflam
Monday November 29th, 1999 1:19:59 AM

"OUCH, that hurt." After he gets up from the painful crash, Fluet brushes himself off. He looks back up at the house. Then he looks at the gate. He decides it would be a good idea to just get out of this place. So he begins to run for the gate.

Can I Go Home Yet(DM)
Monday November 29th, 1999 2:13:59 AM

knowing that a truly horrible fate awaits them if they stay, everyone decided to make a break for the gate. everyone makes it to the gate except K'nara and Olana, whose efforts to set the fire causes them to be about 20 ft behind everyone else. once they get there, they can see that the gate is slightly open, as if someone has already gone through them into the mists beyond. K'nara and Olana's efforts to set the fire are successful, and not a moment too soon! as soon as Olana finishes feeding the fire, the first of the undead soldiers jumps, landing smack in the middle of the flames, catching on fire. three more also jump into the flames, creating a huge bonfire of flaming bodies. the high winds catch some of the burning pieces of dead flesh and scatter them all over the courtyard and the house, which ignites parts of the house. Milo, having wandered around the mists a bit, sees sunlight, of all things, gleaming through the mists, while Shadrach can "see" everyone else running towards the gate. and the twister moves closer to the house.......

Milo
Monday November 29th, 1999 8:35:59 AM

Seeing the sunlight through the mist, Milo hollers, "HELLO SUNSHINE!!" That said, he dashes off towards the light, wanting nothing more than to leave the house of horror behind him.

Olana
Monday November 29th, 1999 5:19:59 PM

The elf runs as fast as her nimble little legs can carry her - out, out and away.

Shadrach
Monday November 29th, 1999 7:25:59 PM

Unable to resist his own curiosity, Shad trickles behind at the edge of the mists, watching the funnel head toward the house.

Figment
Monday November 29th, 1999 9:01:59 PM

races to the gate thankful that it is open - unlike the doors in the house. He races through and tries to locate everyone in the party making sure everyone made it out.

Ingrge
Monday November 29th, 1999 11:28:59 PM

already being at the gates, Ingrge steps thru the opening puts away his staff and draws his bow and nocks an arrow in order to cover the groups retreat/escape/withdrawal. As the house catches on fire, he nods his head and says out loud, "see I told you we should just have burned that place to the ground in the first place."

Flueterflam
Tuesday November 30th, 1999 1:09:59 AM

Fluet goes through the gates. After walking through, he stops, turns around, and takes a final look at the house. "That was awful. I hope nothing like that ever has to happen to anyone else." He watches the fire for a few minutes before following everyone else.

Can I Go Home Yet(DM)
Tuesday November 30th, 1999 1:53:59 AM

Milo starts to dash towards the sunlight, but just before he goes he hears Figment asking if everyone made it. everyone else has made it to the mists, except Shadrach, who watches the tornado engulf the flaming house, sending burning wreckage everywhere.

Milo
Tuesday November 30th, 1999 3:59:59 AM

Screeching to a halt, Milo mumbles to himself, "Rot and bother... I bet they can't see the light." At that he perks up, grinning at the sudden jest. Then much louder, "OVER HERE!! I'm over here, there seems to be a way out of the mists this way... follow my voice!"

K'nara
Tuesday November 30th, 1999 2:23:59 PM

K'nara hustled Olana along with everybody else off the premises. "Follow the sound of Milo's voice! Let's move!" She wasn't satisfied until they were at least 100 yards or so away from the boundary of the Colsum property. The human bladesinger had the nagging feeling that the tornado--or cyclone or twister or what-have-you--was magical in nature and did NOT want to be anywhere near the site that had seemed to draw the airspout's ire. She watched the tornado's progress from afar with thoughtful hazel eyes. "Soon as I'm sure there won't be any danger of any, ahhhhh, 'less than living' inhabitants of the house shambling along the city streets, then we're going back to the Inn." she told the others. "Too bad we couldn't figure out what the Madam's game really was...but at least we're all still here, eh..?"

Olana
Tuesday November 30th, 1999 7:05:59 PM

Spurred on by K'Nara, Olana heads toward Milo's voice. No way was she looking back, her natural curiosity beaten back by her revulsion of what they'd just left.

Wednesday December 1st, 1999 12:45:59 AM

The equestrian streak in the mage comes out and he tries to locate the horses - making sure they escape destruction if possible. He watches as the house is destroyed - wondering if the basement will survive...

Flueterflam

Fluet follows the others, feeling different. He now feels stronger, more confident in himself. Fluet doesn't know why, because of what he went through, but the feeling remains. The only reason he can pin on it, is that now he knows his strengths and weaknesses better now. Now he can control them.

Can I Go Home Yet(DM)  d8=2
Wednesday December 1st, 1999 1:43:59 AM

Figment can not find any traces of the horses. everyone is able to hear Milo's voice easily, and soon everyone is gathered together, beaten up a bit, but otherwise ok. everyone can now see sunlight, which Milo notices is getting brighter. all of the sudden, as everyone is greeting everyone, a scroll case lands right in front of Flueterflam. on the case he can see the word "Redemable at the Temple of Karenthis-Plaetau City"

Shadrach
Wednesday December 1st, 1999 1:54:59 AM

He'd finally turned to follow Milo's voice as the others ran through the gate. Perhaps the ruins could be searched later. A puff of mist detached from the strange mists surrounding Colsum's estate and entwined around Milo briefly.

Milo
Wednesday December 1st, 1999 5:06:59 AM

Stepping over to glance at the scroll tube in front of Flueterflam, Milo bends over and reads the script, in a woefully serious voice, "Dear... this is tragic..." straightening his posture, he looks up at the bard grinning, "It seems that the priests of Karenthis have been skipping their studies... this spelling is atrocious... hrumph..." Looking around the group, "Shall we?" Milo jerks his head towards the sunlight.

Figment
Wednesday December 1st, 1999 6:36:59 PM

Disappointed that the horses were lost, the mage watches the destruction of the house with regret and indignant disgust. "Such a fine structure - with wonderful architecture and complexity... Wasted! Maybe it was built well enough that part of it will remain after this unWoldly event. I think we should wait and see how it ends before we go to any temple.".

K'nara
Wednesday December 1st, 1999 7:58:59 PM

The female fighter did a quick head count. "Heyyyyy...where's SHAD???" she gasped, looking around in alarm. "Milo--why are you smoking..? Are you being attacked?" Since her sword was already out and aflame, K'nara fell into a battle-ready stance, eyeing the obviously-unnatural mist that twined about the halfling.

Milo
Wednesday December 1st, 1999 11:04:59 PM

Milo's eyes snap open in alarm, and both of his hands come up as if to ward off a blow, then his words tumble out faster and faster... "Whoooooaaa there... um... well... you see Shadrach, well he got hurt real bad... I ran over to help him, but he turned into mist... at first I thought he'd died or something... but I think that this mist around me is Shadrach... maybe its some kinda magic or something... perhaps Donyra is protecting him... either way, could you put that sword down... you're making me nervous....!!!" The halfling smiles weakly.

Olana
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 1:18:59 AM

Olana gathers with the others, looking rather astounded as it is pointed out that Shad is now in mist form. "Well I never," she says, wide-eyed. "But.... won't bits of him float away or something? I think we'd better get him away from that nasty tornado thingy." She then bounces up and down on her toes, eager to be off.

Bright Light(DM)
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 1:26:59 AM

as everyone talks, the sunlight gets brighter and brighter, and the mists seem to be getting weaker and weaker.....

Flueterflam
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 2:31:59 AM

"Well it seems we need to get going. Otherwise our friend will become nothing. Does anyone know how to get to the temple?......" He looks at Milo, then the scroll, "Let me have that, it fell right in front of me. I'd say that it wasn't a coincidence." He gently takes the scroll from Milo, and checks it out himself. "Let's get out of this light."

Ingrge
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 4:17:59 AM

Ingrge walks over to K'nara and whispers in her ear. "You know we really need to find something to do with all this cash we seem to be carrying. We are just asking for problems. What say you to heading back to the Inn and then using that as a base while we shop and do what needs to be done? I for one need some sleep and time to study as well as refresh my spell components.

Shadrach
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 4:42:59 AM

Mischievously, the mist began to puff out little bits of itself, making it look for all the world as if Milo were indeed smoking. But Shad silently voted agreement for either a temple or a bed. What he could remember of his body ached and he was so tired.

K'nara
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 7:23:59 AM

As the tornado seemed to be doing a good job at sucking up the manor and its undead occupants, K'nara paused a fraction of a moment before ordering the flames of her sword to abate. Then she sheathed the blade with a flourish, addressing Ingrge: "You're right...we need to assess exactly what we have and exactly what we need...and make plans to go home. This excursion to Plateau City--while *entertaining*--" she said this part rather sarcastically, "--has done nothing to help out the people of the Emerald Kingdom. Let's go see what this scroll is about and then get back to the Inn to rest and restock."

Olana
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 5:26:59 PM

The elf nods. "An Inn would be wonderful. I need a bath, and my hair's all knotty," she says , ruefully glancing at her braid. She then follows the others, her queasy stomach feeling so much better.

Figment
Thursday December 2nd, 1999 8:17:59 PM

watches until the storm abates. "I would be in favour of going to the Inn for a time. I could also be convinced to go to the temple first though. But before either I would STILL suggest we stay until the storm abates and see what is left of the house - just to be sure all the undead have been destroyed.". Figment watches the storm, trying to see what is happening to the house and if it looks like it is letting up as the mist subsides.

Brighter Light(DM)
Friday December 3rd, 1999 1:45:59 AM

as the mists lift, everyone sees that there is nothing left of the mansion, just a big, empty lot. also, there isn't any evidence that there was a storm. It's like it didn't happen.....

K'nara
Friday December 3rd, 1999 1:47:59 PM

Muttering about the mysteries of magic and what a big pain in the butt it could all be, the human bladesinger turns to the others in the group. "Let's go to the temple with the scroll, then go back to the inn." Then K'nara absently looked down at the vial that was still clenched in one hand. "Perhaps somebody could identify what THIS is for us, too." she commented softly, frowning slightly, because if it was poison or evil magic in any way, she was going to get rid of it as quickly and safely as possible.

Ingrge
Friday December 3rd, 1999 8:44:59 PM

So Fluet, Are you gonna open that scroll and read it or are we all gonna play 20 questions with no one knowing the answer?

Figment
Sunday December 5th, 1999 9:46:59 PM

frowns at the Bladesinger's decision to keep the vial. "K'Nara, that is silver-mercurium, a most deadly poison. I would you have left it to perish with the house. There is no good that can come from that vial. It is evil. Perhaps the temple could dispose of it for you. After we see why we are needed there...". He waits for Fluet's reading.

Flueterflam
Monday December 6th, 1999 1:28:59 AM

Fluet lost in his mind, snaps back to reality at the mention of his name. "uuuhhh...sorry. The temple should probably be where we go first." He then proceeds to open the scroll, and read out loud whatever may be written.
