K'isst
Thursday September 30th, 1999 1:16:06 PM

K'isst reports what she gets from the temples and asks them if they are willing to spend that much for some backup breathing. If so she returns to get the potions and scrolls. "Opinions fellas? I think we should take all we can. Are there spells our mages can cast to help with this? I'm kinda paranoid about running out of air at the bottom of the Dragon Bay. You know the problem.....getting rescued....by a dragon."

Rond
Thursday September 30th, 1999 1:16:07 PM

Looking at Branze "Was there anything else you wanted to accomplish?"

Branze Bones
Thursday September 30th, 1999 1:16:08 PM

"Excellent the cloak will allow for a foward scout as we will have a way to appear as if we belong. i could not have asked for a more useful item" he says looking at Rond "No rond tomorrow after the mages are ready we go and get the head back. Windhorn Headhunters will do it!

Draax
Thursday September 30th, 1999 1:16:09 PM

Draax catches up on some much needed sleep. "zzzzzzzzz"

Borbo
Thursday September 30th, 1999 1:16:10 PM

Borbo gets directions from Bill and wanders over to Ruthat's to check on a sword.

Arien
Thursday September 30th, 1999 1:16:11 PM

Arien was on his way up to his room when he hears of Bill speaking of water proofing the spell books. He turns around and says, "Yes, that is a VERY good idea, I must be so tired it slipped my mind, here let me go get my book." After the waterproofing is complete Arien completes his journey to bed.

DM
Thursday September 30th, 1999 4:25:00 PM

Borbo reaches Ruthat's shoppe just as he is about to close up. "Oh my, dear me, you did startle me so. So you returned? Good. I guess. Is it? Good I mean? Your returning that is? Oh my. So you are in need of a sword? hmmm well we have several types. What did you have in mind? Are you looking to replace the one you have there? Here come back to my little secret room, that is what your friend Bill called it." He leads you back to a wall and pushes on it and behind it there is a weapons room, the likes you haven't seen before. There are many swords but only six long swords are available (see email). Arien waxes his spell book pages and places it in an oil sack and gets to bed sometime after 2 AM. After speaking with Capt. Bearcat, who agrees to keep an eye on young Andover, Galahad and Bill go a hunting (so to speak) but their prey is not to be seen. As Rond and Branze finish testing the area around them goes dark as several somethings block the moon (roll save vs spell -3. K'isst returns from the temples with her info and Bill points out Ezzy to her as she disappears into the back with an armload of laundry.

K'isst
Thursday September 30th, 1999 4:25:20 PM

K'isst says, well no one bothered to answer about the potions and scrolls so I guess I'll just make a decision. With that, K'isst goes and the potions and scrolls and says that money will be by shortly. She goes to find Bill. "Bill, who's carrying the kitty cash? I bought us some underwater breathing potions and scrolls. We owe 2,500gp." Then she grins and shrugs. "Well, no one would advise me so I made a decision."

Finishes his meal and he retires to his room to prepare for the next day

Bill T
Thursday September 30th, 1999 4:53:59 PM

While outside, Bill talks with Galahad about growing up in Windhorn Hamlet, some of the neighbors. He asks him, "What do you think about the upcoming swim?" After a bit, they head back to the Inn. / [Do Bill and Galahad notice any flames in the air off in the distance before they return to Grog's Inn?] / "Oh, we've got the gold here, K'isst. Thanks. You are so smart to do that." He looks up at the beautiful troglodyte, and smiles. "Do you want us to go with you? Here's an extra 100gp of my own money. Maybe they can say some extra prayers for us at the temples."

Galahad Quivelio
Thursday September 30th, 1999 10:34:59 PM

While walking around, Galahad listens to the wonderful tales told by Bill about Windhorn its citizens. When asked about the "grand swim" Galahad just shrugs, "I am prepared for whatever Alemi bids me to do. I just hope we can return the head peacefully without any confrontation, but I have a feeling that's not the way it will be." Seeing K'isst coming towards them in the distance, Galahad cracks a small smile, "Now she's a sight to be seen." He listens to K'isst and Bill speak, "If you would like some company, Bill and I will accompany you, if you don't mind of course K'isst.

Saturday October 2nd, 1999 9:53:59 PM

Bill and Galahad meet up with K'isst and don't see any "fireworks". Borbo is having a good ole time with the air-headed Ruthat. Sedar, Arien, and Draax are all snoring. Branze and Rond look up and while not fleeing for their lives in absolute terror they are standing frozen and cannot move as six of what can only be DRAGONS fly overhead towards the little Hamlet. Suddenly, there is a volley of arrows puching upwards toward the dragons from the other side of the hill. All the arrows seem to hit the dragons and bounce off. The dragons make a slight turn and head in the direction from which the arrows came and suddenly the air is filled with flames and screams. You see one figure running up over the top of the hill all aflame and just as quickly a dragon dives down from above and puts the flame out, with one mighty BITE. The man is no longer visible except his feet as they are drawn into the dragons mouth. As Rond and Branze stand, mouths agape and fixated on the scene, the sound of many flying things, coming from over the ocean, reaches their ears.

Branze Bones
Sunday October 3rd, 1999 7:53:59 AM

"Dragggoooons--dra-dra-drag-drago-dragons! Rond we must get the sentinel head back now. Lets get the others and hurry, we must get that head or all is lost to the dragon flight. Domi protect us and the village if we don't." he says as he runs to the inn to gather the others.

Bill T
Sunday October 3rd, 1999 11:24:59 AM

"K'isst, I already told you we have the money here." He holds up some coin-filled bags. "Let's just take it to them now." Bill thinks to himself that he hopes to hear from Merik soon. Want to make sure that the guards stay on the alert... He walks briskly with K'isst and Galahad to the temple, if they will.

K'isst
Sunday October 3rd, 1999 11:29:59 AM

"Well, you SAID it was here, but you didn't SHOW it to me," K'isst replies to Bill. "Yes, let's go. Coming, Galahad?" She steps out to walk to the temple, and carries some of the gold.

Borbo
Sunday October 3rd, 1999 3:40:59 PM

Borbo picks out his sword and walks out of the shop. He stares at the dragons for a moment in fear/awe. Then a though reoccurs, "Borbo Dragonslayer..." He shakes his head fully realizing now that he was a fool and rushes to meet up with the others.

Rond
Sunday October 3rd, 1999 5:17:59 PM

"Yes, we must hurry, and get out of here. Though I wonder why so many are appearing all at once?!" As Rond runs with Branze.

Sedar the mage
Sunday October 3rd, 1999 6:05:59 PM

The Mage awakens to all the commotion going on around the inn. Slowly getting up and gathering his things he makes his way down the stairs and out the doors. Asking anyone he comes across what's happening.

Dm
Monday October 4th, 1999 6:42:59 AM

Just about the time that Borbo is leaving Ruthat's and K'isst, Bill and Galahad are finishing up at the temples and returning to the inn, there is a great disturbance (in the force) as the first six dragons dive bomb the town sending panic through the streets and scattering the few wandering town folk that are still out. Sedar is awakened by screams of terror and as the first wave of dragons pass through the town Branze and Rond are arriving back at the inn

Branze Bones
Monday October 4th, 1999 8:22:59 AM

::bursting into the inn, the priest of Domi looks about frantically. "Grab the gear, we must hurry after the sentinel. Without the head the dragons will over run the town." he says as he bursts back out and runs towards the beech. He sees a large stone on the ground and picks it up. "Perfect for a light spell under water. he says as he continues his sprint

Draax  d20=9
Monday October 4th, 1999 8:38:59 AM

Draax jumps out of the bed at the commotion outside of the inn. After listening to the panicking going on, he guesses correctly about the dragons attacking. He begins to talk to himself as he grabs his weapons and gear. "Great just great, all I have to do is try to enjoy myself or go to sleep and whole wold starts falling apart. Man, I hope this is just another false alarm and not what I think it is." Draax runs out of the inn looking for the others while scanning the skies.

Bill Troublefinder  d20=20
Monday October 4th, 1999 8:50:59 AM

Bill looks up, and finds his limbs are in no way paralyzed, as he has heard happens to people who see dragons up close. Nevertheless, he is filled for concern for the townspeople, and chagrined that Judith's warning (as he thinks his name for the hag of the House of the Crystal Sphere) did not spur him on to greater haste. Where is young Merik? Is the boy about who delivered Merik's message? Are the Sons of Dread behind the militia's lassitude, or is it just plain cussed slothfulness? With all these thoughts racing through his mind in a flash, he considers whether the band ought stay and fight the dragons, or dash to retrieve the head. Branze was right, blast it. "To the Inn!" he says to K'isst and Galahad, breaking into a short-legged halfling run, and looking about to see if any there are any who might move people to safety. Ruthat's weapons - they oughtta be given to those who can use them, before his shop is turned to slag and ashes. This town is too complacent, and I've been too blasted nice about addressing that complacence, he thinks. Glancing up again, he acknowledges the awesome power of these wings of evil. "Donyra, do not forsake us," he puffs out a prayer.

Arien
Monday October 4th, 1999 12:26:59 PM

Arien leaps out of a bed a dagger held in one hand. The real world sets in and he lowers the dagger. He sprints to the window and looks out. He curses under his breath when he sees the giant winged lizards and grabs his equipment as fast as he can and sprints down the halls trying to get out of the inn in case the dragons decide to burn it.

Borbo
Monday October 4th, 1999 6:37:59 PM

Borbo heads back to the inn and meets up with the others, "Let's go now! We can only fight these beasts by going under the water."

Sedar the Mage
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 3:07:59 AM

Running out of the Inn, meeting with the others. He follows Triple B's lead to head for the water and begin the finding of the head.

Dm
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 6:05:59 AM

As the different groups of the heroes meet back at the inn and decide they have to leave tonight, many other dragons start flying over the town, Little damage is being done except when someone is stupid enough to try and attack one and then that person or the building he/she is in is swiftly attacked and destroyed. So far there are two buildings on fire and four deaths in the town (not counting the squad of archers that was destroyed at Sentinel Point). Mostly people are staying inside though there are a few odd ones looking up at the dragons with looks of awe or dread upon their faces. As you all get ready to leave a small group, the town council, arrives all flustered, scared and out of breath.

Branze Bones
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 6:21:59 AM

"I know most of you don't like my tactics. But this is war, and tonight proves it. The Sea devils declared war with us and hope us destroyed by taking the sentinels head. I branded the two prisoners and know you shall know why it will pay off. There is a clerical prayer that will now allow me to track them. I hope they make it back to the village or what ever they call home and where the head will be." he says seeing the council coming tentatively. "Your town needs us a second time to rescue it. And like the first we shall not fail. We need the Sea Devils brought here and freed." he says with all the sternness that years of training in the halls of Domi teaches the Clerics of the war god.

K'isst
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 12:59:59 PM

K'isst raises an eyebrow, and says to the members of the puffing council, "Yes?"

Bill T
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 1:07:59 PM

Bill, when he arrived at the Inn, raced upstairs, and gathered his things. Then he dashed back through the Inn, grabbing a slice of mincemeat pie off the pie cart. He joins his companions, just in time to hear Brother Branze, and to see the council members approach.

Rond
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 2:32:59 PM

"Well, I'm interested in getting the head back. Whether or not that means war, that remains to be seen." Rond will gather all his stuff (if he didn't have it all before).

Borbo
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 5:02:59 PM

Borbo looks at the council and says, "As I recall, the sentinel was more like a lock on a door keeping the dragons away. Now the lock is gone and the dragons are here. Simply bringing the lock back won't solve the problem. I suggest that before we get back with the head, you find some mages who can once again expel the dragons to wherever they were banished. Otherwise this trip is for nothing. I'm sure that you won't have much trouble getting some heroes from Plateau City or the Big Float since the head protects everyone in New Elenna."

Draax
Tuesday October 5th, 1999 8:12:59 PM

Standing with the group. "Yes, I agree with the rest of you, it is time to retrieve the head. This is the first time I heard about the head being a lock, but if that is the case, the town should start working on Borbo idea as soon as possible."

K'isst
Wednesday October 6th, 1999 2:04:59 AM

In her panic, K'isst doesn't pull out the rock of communication she has been using and speaks common for the first time. "Ceremony aborned the head will have to be endeded and do not need a crowd for that? Is hard to get people to come here during attack to renew? I have awful thoughts. What if Sea Devils destroy head? What if Sea Devils want us come after head? What if Sons of Dread hired Devils steal head? Seems as steered down fast river in chasm. No choice." She then whispers to herself in Trog. "Frightened. No think. Must act now." K'isst totally forgetting that she should stay to hear what the council will say, spins on her heels, her face and arms looking slightly green and heads for the door. Once outside, she begins running a dodging pattern through the town heading for the path that leads to the place of renewal. She pauses several times to help people get indoors.

Bill Troublefinder
Wednesday October 6th, 1999 9:48:59 PM

"Your honors," Bill says to the council members. "We are prepared to retrieve the head. As my good cousin Borbo suggests, I suppose it is a lock of sorts. But I think, as well, it serves to repel. So we go for it. Time is short. What is your counsel?"

K'isst
Thursday October 7th, 1999 12:37:59 AM

K'isst continues to make her way across town screaming hopelessly at the dragons above in frustration while she helps others. She curses when she doesn't see any of her compatriots following. "Foolish surfacefolk." She turns and runs back towards the inn ready to bang some heads until the others get into gear.

Sedar the Mage
Thursday October 7th, 1999 2:29:59 AM

Seeing triple B come running through the door yelling for everyone to come along, the mage straps on the gear and heads for the beach "we gotta distribute the items before we jump in Branze, we can do it at the beach"

DM
Thursday October 7th, 1999 7:00:59 AM

The council kind of just stands there dragging there feet and hemming and hawing as if they were a bit embarrassed. Lothar and Bearclaw both finally push through and almost in unison and dripping with sarcasm, say, "Well the rest of the council has finally agreed with us that there is a need to retrieve the sentinel head. We have all come here to um.. ask for your help in retrieving the head?" Bearclaw continues. "We would like to hire your services yet again. say upon the return of the head 4000 gold each?" An audible gasp is heard from the other council members. "Nope lets make it 5000 each." He grins at the rest of the council. "I expect you will want to be leaving soon. If you have anything you would like for us to keep for you while you are gone, I will be glad to take care of it personally." As Bearclaw is speaking Little old Ezzy sneaks up behind Arien and tugs on his sleeve. "Psssst I hear you need something for going under water? I got something you can have for a price?" She shows him a silverish pendant with 2 dolphins wrapped around a nice sized emerald. Mean while there has been a total of 22 dragons seen flying over the town and heading inland. There has been word of a very large black dragon setting him self up on Sentinel Hill over looking the bay. About this time the town militia shows up in force and armed for bear. This time they look quite sharp and professional. There is, however, a noticeable lack of archers among them.

Borbo
Thursday October 7th, 1999 8:44:59 AM

"Heck, I would have gone for a good meal, but 5000 gold sounds better. Let's get going." Borbo starts to head out and waits for the others to follow.

Branze Bones
Thursday October 7th, 1999 9:10:59 AM

"I was going in any way. Now Bearclaw if you would release the prisoner sea devils so we may have a clue where to find the head, we will have a head start." he says trying to be a touch funny given all the goings on. If we get back alive, I will help route the black out. Domi praise us we return soon with the sentinel head," he says as he folds the cloak about himself.

Draax
Thursday October 7th, 1999 9:17:59 AM

Draax turns to Bearclaw. "I am not the negotiator of the group, so whatever price my comrades agree upon is good enough for me. My comrades and I have wasted a lot of precious time running around the town trying to find items that would help us retrieve the head. If there is anything that anyone here has with them at this moment that could help us we would appreciated it, if not then we will make due with the items that we have gathered. I will take you up on your offer to hold some of my items, I would like leave my bow and arrows, and most of my supplies, I will be taking some rations wrapped tight to keep the water out and two waterskins." After handing the items to Bearclaw, Draax takes out some extra bowstring and begins cutting them into several foot long strips and one 4 feet strip. He starts using the strips to tie his daggers to their sheaves and short sword to its scabbard. He take one end of the 4 feet long strip and ties it to his wrist and the other end to the hilt of his new long sword, making sure that the string does not interfere with his movement and is still easy to draw the sword. After making sure that everything is secured it turns back to the party. "I am ready."

Arien
Thursday October 7th, 1999 12:10:59 PM

Arien hides his shock at seeing the emerald and slowly strokes his chin, trying not to show too much interest. "Oh really, what kind of price are we talking about here?"

Rond
Thursday October 7th, 1999 4:45:59 PM

"I suspect one of the biggest things you'll need to store, will be our gold."

Bill Troublefinder
Thursday October 7th, 1999 7:54:59 PM

"Sometimes," Bill says, "it's easy to take lightly the customs and beliefs handed down to us. But today's events will likely increase our respect for our ancestors' wisdom. May some of that be granted unto each of us," looking at the council members. "Thank you for your kind offer. Pray for us as we travel beneath the waves. We shall pray for you, our beloved Windhorn Hamlet, and New Elenna as we perform our duties. Enslavement to dragons shall not be our lot, may the gods grant," he concludes with a rather sad smile. / Bill removes a few items from his backpack, and sees that the balance of the gold is given to Capt. Bearclaw (keeping 10 of his own gp in a pouch). "Thank you, sir," he says, with a brighter smile. Quietly, he says to Bearclaw, "Young Merik knows of some good hiding places. Someone was trying to chase him down. I'll leave the boy under your protection in my absence." / Then Bill finishes his piece of mincemeat pie. "Say, with the black watching over the Sentinel, should we enter the water at a different spot, do you suppose?" he asks. He then is ready to accompany his friends and companions to whichever point of entry is chosen.

Bill Troublefinder
Thursday October 7th, 1999 9:34:59 PM

"Oh - Oh - the scrolls from the temple," he asks the upset K'isst, "are they waterproofed? If not, Sedar, or any other of us with spellbooks, did you figure out a way to do that quickly? It wouldn't do to take them with us, and have them ruined before we can use them."

K'isst
Friday October 8th, 1999 4:42:59 AM

K'isst come bursting into the inn out of breath and looking a little green from anger and exertion. "There's a black on the sentinel hell....I mean hill! He's huge! Come on wimps....time to be heroes...Now!!!" Then she hears Bill's inquiry. She pulls out the scrolls and says, "No. Here!" Then she runs towards the door the sunlight Silhouetting her body as she spins yelling, "People are dying out there! Grab me on the way to the shore. In the meantime, there's things to do." She disappears into the cacophony of the hamlet's panic.

Sedar the Mage
Friday October 8th, 1999 6:10:59 AM

"5000 sounds good" quickly adds a satchel next to Draax's. "Spell books , no good to me all wet and damaged" a long drawn out silent goodbye to them as he follows the crew to the water. "Huge Black you say, aye , K'isst, May Wardds' luck be with us, we'll need it"

Galahad Quivelio
Friday October 8th, 1999 6:52:59 AM

Watching as everything goes on around him, Galahad hears the comment about water proofing the scrolls and spellbooks, "I forgot to water-proof my spellbook. Would anyone be so kind as to show me how? Sedar?" Galahad takes his spellbook to whom ever volunteers to help him, and proceeds to waterproof his precious spellbook.

Rond
Friday October 8th, 1999 9:05:59 AM

"hmm. I will accompany K'isst. Just holler for us when you are ready to go" As Rond bolts out the door "K'isst, wait up". (Dagnabit whipper snapper, slow down! :) )

Bill T
Friday October 8th, 1999 11:16:59 AM

"Arien - you waxed your book, right? And put it in an oil bag?" Looking at the woman whispering to Arien, he says, "Say, you're Esmerelda Fipps, right? Do you have a hot or warm iron around? Sedar, you seem to have a good head on ya. Whaddaya think about working with Galahad, maybe you can take the important pages from your spell books and wax 'em quick, and stick 'em in an oil bag. Can you help them, Arien? Do that, if it can be done in less than fifteen minutes, and if you want to, then let's sneak into the water out of sight of that dragon. Grog! Mary! Esmerelda! Counselors! Anyone! Hot wax! Use the candles there! And don't burn the pages! Oil a couple bags for us, quick! Help us do this!" [...starting to get worried about running out of exclamation points.] Bill goes running around helping with the wax job, and enlisting what help is available. As people work on preparing the precious pages [if they do], Bill asks the spellcasters, "Any of you able to dispel magic? Oy, it's hard to get to know people in a day and a half." He whistles a tune his father used to whistle when working in the tool shed. Once done, Bill will move resolutely with the team to the water, picking up Rond and K'isst on the way.

Borbo
Friday October 8th, 1999 6:13:59 PM

Borbo rushes after K'isst as fast as his little legs will allow. He futilely shouts as he pants, "The head, K'isst! The head! Not the dragon! There's too many dragons. Our only chance is the head!"

Arien
Saturday October 9th, 1999 3:29:59 AM

Arien grabs some wax and tosses it to Galahad, "Here use this I'll be right there to help you." Arien turns back to Esmerelda, "As you can see me and my associates are in a little of a rush so if you'd be so kind as to tell me what you want for this little trinket maybe we can make a deal otherwise I am needed."

Ezzy
Saturday October 9th, 1999 5:42:59 AM

Ezzy looks at Arien with a little glint in her eye and says I want either 4000 gold or for you to father an heir for me. You may decide which while you are on your escapade but if you decide you want my pendant then you agree to honoring either one or the other once you return.

Ezzy  d100=60
Saturday October 9th, 1999 5:50:59 AM

K'isst finally hears Borbo and slows down enough so that Rond and Borbo finally catch up a few blocks down. By the end of fifteen minutes you all are at the entry to the ceremony field, and the town militia is there along with Capt. Bearclaw, making plans for trying to drive the black away. Sedar informs Bill and the others that there is no way they can do a complete job on the scrolls and book pages in fifteen minutes as just doing his book took him several hours to complete once he had everything set up. Finding oil pouches is not a problem and several are produced quickly. in the allotted 15 minutes you are able to properly water proof 40% of what you were trying to get done, by using several assembly lines.

Arien
Saturday October 9th, 1999 9:08:59 AM

"I'd love to haggle with you but as you see I'm in a hurry and since gold is easier to come by than heirs I'll pay you that 4,000 gold and I always honor a bargain. Alright since that's been decided how does the thing work? Oh and by the way, I like the way you operate, after I get back from this little head-hunting party what do you say we talk about going into business together?"

Bill T
Saturday October 9th, 1999 10:55:59 AM

"Esmerelda, how about a third option?" Bill asks, hardly looking up from the scroll he is waxing. "He rents it from you for 1500 gold, up front, and if it's somehow lost, we pay you 2500 when we return? If it's returned, nothing more is owed you. 'Course, weddings are always fun," he says, turning the page over. "How'd you come across that beautiful ring in the first place? I'll bet you have some very interesting stories from your life," he says with genuine hobbit sincerity.

Galahad Quivelio
Sunday October 10th, 1999 1:53:59 AM

Cursing himself for his stupidity, Galahad knows it's pointless for him to start waterproofing his spellbook when he knows he will not even get half done. "Capt. Bearclaw, would you be so kind as to hold onto my spellbook for me. It is my most precious possession, so please be careful with it." Knowing that he has to be very select in his spell casting (what, with only 4 spells available through memory.....), Galahad knows that the might of his new mace will have to protect him now. Galahad gets set to wax a few pieces of parchment for the trip. Putting his spell components, some writing ink, a few quills, and his paper into a large pouch, he tries to make it as waterproof as humanly possible. Galahad then helps out whom ever needs a hand waterproofing there equipment.

Rond
Sunday October 10th, 1999 3:49:59 PM

Keeping an eye on K'isst (ready to follow her), "Can we do anything to help?"

Borbo
Sunday October 10th, 1999 4:33:59 PM

"Hey Bill do you think this little pin that Berik Andovin gave me will let me breathe in water? I wonder how it works if that's what it does. I wonder if it does something else. Anyone have any suggestions?"

Bill T
Sunday October 10th, 1999 9:31:59 PM

"That's funny, Borb - Ruthat's list told us that Berik Andovin had some sort of a bracelet that allowed you to breathe underwater. A pin, huh? Maybe there was just a mix-up as to what it was. But people heard this morning that we were going to chase down the sea devils, and that's when you were still with us, so Berik probably knew that... I'll bet you it does. I HOPE it does, cousin!" Bill takes a look at the pin. He smiles at Borbo. "I don't think a glass of water is quite the way to test it, though!" He puts the finishing touches on waterproofing another scroll.

Bearclaw to Branze's earlier question
Monday October 11th, 1999 2:53:59 AM

Shaking his head a bit as he hears Branze's comments about the prisoners, Bearclaw says, funny thing about them, not moments after we put them in their cells, they died. We even had our healers work on their wounds some, but to no avail it is almost like they just gave up on life or even wanted to die. I don't know, it is mighty peculiar though. and with that he turns and with his men head to the bay.

Sedar the mage
Monday October 11th, 1999 3:11:59 AM

Smiles and then laughs out loud. "just and those spell books next to my satchel there, Galahad ..... I know exactly how you feel. Kind of pointless, knowing we do not have the time to finish. we'll just have to hope what we have memorized is enough." turns to Borbo "haven't been able to try any more powerful spells since we came to town yesterday." looks about at all the commotion "alright we all here I think .... anyone not have an item of magic for our under the waves trip shout now. ... whose got what items anyway ?"

K'isst
Monday October 11th, 1999 4:48:59 AM

K'isst letting other's catch up while she helps some kids get indoors and helps their mother board up her windows, for whatever good that does against a dragon, hears about Galahad's spellbook situation. "Well, there's certainly a lot to do around here if we need to get his spellbook waterproofed. Going off half-ready and dying is no better than having to wait a bit while continuing to help the people. On the other hand, perhaps there will be an air pocket where Gal can finish the job. Will the oiled sacks protect it as long as it's not opened? If so, I say bring it along and let's go. Otherwise, I say we stay till the job's done." K'isst, then takes big breath and says, "Sorry, I blabber on at the mouth when I get excited. Nervous habit." Then as if she can't stand still a moment longer, she races to help a farmer right his cart. "Come on Rond! There's stuff we can do!"

Monday October 11th, 1999 6:58:59 AM

After seeing that they can never get everything waterproofed in time, the group decides that they will get better use out of their time by waterproofing what scrolls they have and keeping their spell books in the waterproofed oil pouches, in the hope that they will be able to find somewhere to read them in safety if needed. Doing this will only take five minutes and will enable them to catch up with K'isst and crew moments after they arrive at the ceremony site. K'isst and the others with her right the upturned wagon and get to the sentinel point, just as Bearclaw and his men are deploying to have a go at the black dragon. Ezzy turns to Bill and says "I'm not interested in renting the ring and where I got it is none of your business. To Arien, Like I said before, you need not decide upon your method of payment until you return. She then turns and disappears inside.

Branze Bones

"I hope by Domi we can track them then. I will be at the beach when its is time to leave." he walks towards the beach and waits for others.

Draax
Monday October 11th, 1999 8:43:59 AM

Draax answers Sedar’s question about the items by showing the mage the ring on his finger that he obtained from Lothar. He joins Branze and walks to the beach to wait on the others, making sure that they avoid any dragons especially the big black on Sentinel Hill.

Bill T
Monday October 11th, 1999 10:44:59 AM

"Sedar, I've got this brooch from Judith, I mean the lady from the House of the Crystal Sphere," he answers. / "Fine, Esmerelda, didn't know its origin might be a sore point with you. Thanks for your help, though." Bill says thanks and goodbye to those left at Grog's Inn, but not before grabbing some extra wax to take along for later. As the party members leave together, he waits until they are out of earshot of the inn. "Sorry for intruding there, Arien. You answered her real well. But if some lady is going to ask about fathering her child, she oughtta be, seems to me, ready to marry him, so they can be papa and mama together. I think kids deserve that, even though not all get it. Least, that's the way I was taught. That was good what you said about an heir, too." The halfling sighs. "Ezzy will probably be mad at me, now." As they walk along, he asks, "Sedar, Galahad, Arien, what sort of spells do you know, anyhow? Anybody have light stones?" / If possible, he tries to keep his and his friends movements hidden from the black dragon. If not ... oh, well. / He makes sure the brooch is secure, and looks in his pouch. The beryl stone is there. He reseals the pouch. He conceals the speargun under his cloak. / Once all are assembled by the site of the ceremony, Bill says, "Brother Branze, you want to say a quick prayer, then let's go?"

Galahad Quivelio
Monday October 11th, 1999 11:24:59 PM

Not knowing what to do, Galahad puts his precious spellbook into one of the oiled pouches. "I suppose it's best I take this along with me incase I do run out of spells." Turning to Bill, "Currently I can cast shield, magic missile, sleep, and feather fall. But i don't see any use for Feather fall, so I might just cast that one off when I have some time and memorize a different spell. I don't have light rock, but Alemi has granted me the use of the spell "Light", so I'm sure that will come in handy eventually." Thinking it time to get going, Galahad makes his way down to the water hoping that others get the clue that it's time to go.

K'isst

"Raise your own children? How backward! You can't raise warriors that way. They will be too attached to their families rather than to the tribe." After a awkward moment she continues. "Well is everyone ready to breathe water and get all wrinkled? Let's go get that head!" And with that and a shake of her hand toward the black dragon nearby, she stalks off into the water. "Well come on!"

You all arrive and see Captain Bearclaw marshalling his men and women to try and drive the Black away. You also get the impression that he is doing this to give you all a chance at getting safely to the surf. as his forces spread out in an attempt to circle the beast, it rears up and opens its jaws full of dagger-sized teeth and spits out a stream of greenish liquid which directly hits three militia men and splash several more sending them all screaming to the ground.

Branze Bones
Tuesday October 12th, 1999 7:00:59 AM

"Damn, the dread brother hood and the Sea Devils." Branze says at the sight of the militia giving there life to gain them the time to gain the head back. "We have to get that head back and hurry." he says grabbing onto the cloak in one hand and the stone he picked up earlier. "Domi light my way so this war may be won." he says lighting a stone then dives into the ocean following the drag marks the head left on the ocean floor.

Rond
Tuesday October 12th, 1999 8:18:59 AM

"well, lets hope there's no special instructions for these things" As Rond will follow into the surf.

Draax
Tuesday October 12th, 1999 9:06:59 AM

Draax turns away from the sight of the town's militia willingly risking and losing their lives to give them a few precious seconds. Not wanting the brave men to die in vain, Draax runs to the surf, turns the ring on his finger and says the words to activate the rings, before diving under the waves.

Bill T
Tuesday October 12th, 1999 10:28:59 AM

Bill blanches as he sees over his shoulder the dragon's work. Bill takes a couple of steps toward the water, presses the pearl in the brooch. "Good prayer. Succinct ..." are the last words he says as he submerges himself in the sea. Under the waves, he experiments to see whether swimming or walking works best ... and trusting to the magic of 'Judith's' gift, he inhales underwater.

K'isst
Wednesday October 13th, 1999 5:32:59 AM

K'isst seeing the dragon in action stops in the surf. "Oh, Gods.....D-D-d-d-d-dra-g-g-g-g-on-n-n. She begins to shake and just stand there. "It-t-t's Real." She turns green.

Borbo
Wednesday October 13th, 1999 6:25:59 AM

Borbo looks at K'isst and tries to bring her back to the task at hand, "A good warrior would dive beneath the waves to save the helpless rather than stand rooted to the beach!" Then Borbo runs out into the water.

DM
Wednesday October 13th, 1999 7:24:59 AM

As you all enter the water the militia makes its first real attack. you see spears, lances, javelins and other longer range and reach weapons being employed. Some strikes are successful and others are not. The is a screaming coming from the Black and like as not the strikes that injure it are the last strike that person makes due to either claws or teeth. As you each submerge you see a sight to behold of Captain Bearclaw leaping onto the neck behind the head of the black, sword in hand, with a very feral look in his eye. And is that foam around his mouth? as you each are enveloped by the water and you activate your devices you find that some function better than others but that you all seem to be able to breathe under water, at least for the time being. Branze looks like a large underwater bat, and as Borbo and Arien submerge and start breathing water there feet and legs start growing together to form dolphin like tails. There are much to everyone's surprise, a partial trail of dragging marks along the sandy bottom due to the fact that the reef corals and such have been broken and crushed in places. As you head northward you travel about thirty minutes and up ahead you see another group of beings ahead of you and angling kind of towards the celebration Bay.

Sedar the Mage

After strapping on the old lung , with some disgust. The mage enters the water. after making a little way .He spots the other group and points them out to his friends. He tries to speak ,but doesn't know how well his friends would understand it.

Arien
Wednesday October 13th, 1999 12:32:59 PM

Arien pauses a moment to make sure all of his belongings are secure and the plunges into the waves. Once he submerges he looks in amazement as his legs turn into a flipper. He experiments for a little but until he gets the hang of moving with the flipper and then catches up to the rest of the party.

BEFORE we have spent a half hour in the water, and after a couple of minutes to adjust to being underwater, Bill speaks up. "Hello. Can anyone understand what I am saying. If so, hold up three fingers." He repeats his request in a higher voice, and a lower voice. He also wants to spend a few minutes seeing what different people's relative speeds and motive power are. [Ooc: Please, Mr. DM, give us a few posts to adjust to the water, and see what we can do, before we face those 1/2 hour from our starting point. :-) ]

Thursday October 14th, 1999 3:05:59 AM

Rond will look around in a little surprise (having been his first trip underwater). Rond will try walking a few steps, and seeing how his body reacts to the surroundings. If he hears anyone, he'll respond to them by looking their way. If not, he'll get a little caught up in what he's doing.

DM
Thursday October 14th, 1999 7:10:59 AM

As you all get acclimated to the water you find that with enough weight, which few of you have, you can walk along the bottom. Most though must swim due to buoyancy. Borbo, Arien, and Branze have no choice as they effectively have no feet or the use of their feet. Also, while some sounds travel better than others under water you realize that it is going to be communication by sign language for most of the time. As for vision, use of Infravision during the daytime will more than likely blind the person making the attempt. At night it might work but only up very close and with warm bodies that haven't been under water very long. you might for instance be able to see if there was a thermal jet some where. Ultravision would work but since we have no PCs that have that ability...... normal vision in the area you are in during the day will be very good. At night not so good. As you get past the reef and into deeper water the normal vision is likely to diminish as well.

Rond will shrug his shoulders, and point in the direction of the trail.

Arien
Thursday October 14th, 1999 1:49:59 PM

Arien experiments a little more with his new flipper for awhile before noticing the others trying to communicate. He treads in place and tries to talk himself but just gets a bunch bubbles. Shrugging his shoulders in a gesture of futility he motions to the trail with a questioning look on his face.

K'isst
Thursday October 14th, 1999 11:11:59 PM

K'isst, having been taught of underwater travel, enjoys her first trip under and enjoys more her friends getting used to it. She picks out a plant and begins getting used to using the trident underwater. She also experiments with her "underwater breathing" trident to see if she has to have the trident in her hands to breathe or simply on her person. She'd prefer to use her new magical trident if possible and strap the other trident to the side of her pack.

Borbo
Friday October 15th, 1999 12:13:59 AM

Borbo gets the hang of things and starts swimming about. He swims alongside Bill and starts talking about something at length. It's rather unintelligible in the water, but he seems to be wondering about his boots.

Sedar the Mage
Friday October 15th, 1999 2:46:59 AM

The 1/2 readjust his gear and tries some swimming about a little. 'Thinking to himself that this is a catastrophe waiting to happen' under water, can't talk, can't spell ... heck what have we gotten ourselves into darn.

Bill T
Friday October 15th, 1999 12:09:59 PM

Bill looks around to see who is wearing the helmet from Capt. Bearclaw. / Bill gets the idea that Borbo is concerned about what has happened to his legs and attire. He glances at his own customarily unshod feet. He tries to signal a question with his hands to see if it's okay with Borbo for Bill to touch his new fins or flippers or whatever they are.

DM
Saturday October 16th, 1999 6:14:59 AM

As you all work out the kinks of swimming and moving, you manage to get a basic form of communication working through simple symbols. K'isst finds that she needs to be in bodily contact with the trident for her to be able to benefit from its water breathing effects. Borbo noticed that his feet along with his boots sort of morphed together when his tail was created. After about thirty minutes of practice and scouting around you head out following the broken coral trail, when in the distance you see a large group of movement coming your way.

Galahad Quivelio
Sunday October 17th, 1999 2:37:59 AM

Looking around, and watching everyone trying to get the hang of movement underwater, Galahad sees a large group of something moving this way. K'isst
Monday October 18th, 1999 1:10:59 AM

K'isst, knowing that simple commands seem to be understandable says, "Peaceful everyone." She holds her trident in a defensive posture. ::Before, as we were testing the equipment, K'isst decides that she doesn't want to take the chance of having the weapon dropped and her choking to get it back, so she gets Bill to rope it to her back, inside her top so that it's touching her at all times. Then she hefts her newly bought magical trident in her hands.::

DM
Monday October 18th, 1999 1:26:59 AM

Draax really can't find any kind of hiding place within the area they are in and as the others ready weapons and fix equipment, Branze swimming ahead gets a pretty good look at the company. The group approaching seems to consist of a dozen well armed and wary Aquatic elves. When they get to the point where they can see you and you them a bit more clearly, they stop. Weapons at the ready but making no overtly hostile movements, they look a bit perplexed and agitated at the makeup of your group. In fact several look down right confused.

Bill feels a little funny being so close to the beautiful elvish troglodyte. But he does an *excellent* job of tying the trident to her back in the fashion she requested [d20=3]. / Elves! Under the water! Bill swims forward just a little, and in the elvish tongue he says, pausing slightly between each sentence, and with careful enunciation, "Hello, noble ones. We are hunting Sahuagin who stole from us! We are delighted to see you." His free hand on his chest he says, "My name is Bill." And then sweeping his hand to the left, "These are my friends."

DM
Wednesday October 20th, 1999 2:05:59 AM

As you all group around to meet the sea elves, one of them breaks off and moves towards you. When he gets within about 10 feet of you the feel of the water changes and those of you with fins change back to feet and you realize that all of you are "breathing" air of a sort. Heavy, thick air, but air all the same at the same time you notice that you all and the sea elf as well have sunk down several feet and are basically standing on the bottom. In fairly clear common, the sea elf says, why sea devils come land and go back? We see they come and go, follow little way, come back, want answers. What they want from manlett folk? why you here?

Arien
Wednesday October 20th, 1999 6:14:59 AM

"The Sea Devils are the enemies of the land dwellers as they are to all creatures of good. They stole the magical artifact that protected the hamlet from dragons, now the dragons are back and that is why we are here, to retrieve the magic so that the dragons will be driven away again."

Sedar the Mage

"The dragons have broken through the barrier thanks to the Sea Devils, they stole an artifact from our village and now all will be destroyed, if we do not recover it. It is a giant statues head. Any help you could give on this would be greatly appreciated.

Bill T
Wednesday October 20th, 1999 9:55:59 AM

Forming his arms into a half circle, Bill says, "The head was *this* big. Some sea devils made themselves invisible. Others attacked us during the manlett folks' ceremony. The invisible sea devils broke the statue at the neck and swam away. We need the head back. Dragons have come, because the head is gone. Our people begin to die. You can show us where sea devils are?"

Draax
Wednesday October 20th, 1999 12:19:59 PM

Startled at the sudden appearance of the air pocket, Draax can only stare in amazement at the sea elf. He listens to the others ask and answer questions and waits for the water elf to answer Bill’s last question.

Borbo
Thursday October 21st, 1999 12:32:59 AM

Borbo nods in agreement with the others as he wiggles his toes. Then he suddenly looks up at one of the elves, "I've got FEET!"

K'isst

K'isst motions to Bill to wait a bit and calmly listens to the elf letting the others take the lead.

Galahad Quivelio
Thursday October 21st, 1999 8:04:59 AM

Taken aback by the sudden rush of somewhat fresh air, Galahad steps forward a bit after all is said by the others, *speaking in elven* "Cousins, we are not here to harm you nor your homes or families. We are in dire need of assistance at the moment. As one of my friends have said, the head has been stolen by these Sea Devil creatures. You may or may not know the importance of the head to the surface people, but I am almost certain that soon you will be surrounded by dragons, and you may be forced to fight them. These dragons are causing havoc among the city, especially a particular black one. We would much appreciate it if you could give us as much help as possible. Do you know where the Sea Devils "contain" themselves?" If so, are you willing to help us retrieve the head from them?" Galahad then steps back with the rest of the group and waits.....

Hmm help you we can, go with you we not can. wait here. He turns and goes back to his patrol. as he gets about 20 ft away all your gear kicks back in as the water suddenly changes back. You all see him huddling with his people and some things are exchanged.

K'isst
Friday October 22nd, 1999 12:53:59 AM

K'isst nods and smiles shyly as one looks her way. Her face turns slightly green as she sees how dainty these kinfolk are. She knows that this belies their inner strength and abilities, but she can't quite resist the idea of asking her hatchmother to take one home for a pet. She grins uncontrollably for a second with a crooked smile as she fights to hold in the giggles.

Seeing the leader go back to his people, Galahad wonders what they can possible give them that will help in their journey. He then wonders if any of these sea elves praise Alemi. "I wonder if I can start a temple devoted to Alemi down here." Grinning at the thought Galahad continues watching with curiosity as the elves converse.

After only about five minutes and some heated discussion The leader of the elves returns with several scroll cases tucked into his belt and one held in his hand. As he returns to your close vicinity the old switcheroo occurs and once again the water breathing items turn off.

Galahad Quivelio
Monday October 25th, 1999 4:22:59 AM

"FEET! This is fun, Bill. The change tickles too. Or maybe it's not the change but this air pocket spell that tickles. I suppose if that were the case, then it would tickle everyone else too. So does it? Does it tickles, I mean?... What do they have there? Scrolls? I hope they are maps to the water devils' lair."

K'isst
Monday October 25th, 1999 8:29:59 PM

K'isst moves over to Sedar and whispers, "If that's a spell they are using to let us breathe air, that's a very useful thing." K'isst watches Borbo and Bill carrying on as usual and thinks to herself that they are fun and useful and interesting, but dangerous in negotiations and when "good behavior" is needed. She smiles at the thought of thumping them both in the ear and telling them to behave. She moves behind both of them a hidden crooked smile on her green tinted face.

"Yeah," Bill agrees with Borbo regarding the notion of a map. "The bubbles kinda tickle," he acknowledges. He resumes his visual sweep of the area. He gives a little wave to K'isst as he sees her behind him.

Sea Elf Chieftain
Tuesday October 26th, 1999 5:51:59 AM

As the air pocket settles around you and he has your attention he speaks. So, hunt you the sea devils you do? Track them did we. Map you to give for aid in finding, yes? Live they on an island near, in a temple old, do they. Map way will show you. Help any other, you we give? ::he looks at each of you in turn, as if awaiting an answer::

Branze Bones
Tuesday October 26th, 1999 6:06:59 AM

"Perhaps some help with a distraction so it is easier for us to get to the temple. Or even some aid in recovering the sentinel's head.. If not your map is a great deal of help and we thank you." he says while trying to acknowledge the chief with proper respect.

Draax
Tuesday October 26th, 1999 12:19:59 PM

Draax nods to the sea elf and speaks slowing in elven. "We thank you for the help that you have already provided. Although I am an accomplished swimmer, I am not comfortable spending a large amount of time under the waves and can not move very fast. With the dragons’ activities above the waves, time is also our enemy. If you have any means that would speed up our journey, I would be most grateful."

Galahad Quivelio
Tuesday October 26th, 1999 12:35:59 PM

Galahad listens to each persons requests in thought. Overhearing K'isst talk something about an air pocket spell, Galahad comes up with something he wouldn't mind obtaining, even if it were for his own use. *speaking in elven* Dear cousin, what is this spell you use to breathe air under the waves? If it is a spell indeed, do you have an extra copy of it on one of your scrolls. It could come in handy for our travels, it definitely would make it faster." Waiting for a reply looks at the map that is in the chieftain's hands.

Borbo
Tuesday October 26th, 1999 4:55:59 PM

"Exalted Honorable Aquatic Elven Chieftain Sir, we have no knowledge of these sea devils beyond the fact that they stole are sentinel head, live in water, and have some knowledge of fighting and magic. Any additional information - for example a weakness - would be much appreciated... Oh, and is the map waterproof, or can we only look at it in an air pocket?"

Rond
Wednesday October 27th, 1999 1:58:59 AM

"The others speak of what we need" when the chieftain looks at Rond.

K'isst
Wednesday October 27th, 1999 5:07:59 AM

Seeing that things are well in hand, K'isst suddenly makes up her mind. Throwing back her cowl, she takes a step forward and says, "Is there anything we can do for you in appreciation for your help?" She swallows several times waiting to see how they are going to take her pointed ears and elven nose.

Sedar the Mage
Wednesday October 27th, 1999 6:22:59 AM

Seeing K'isst finally stepping forward to announce her distant kinship with this sea elves. He quietly acknowledges her inner strength. And watches the sea elf's reaction, not only to K'isst but to all the questions being focused his way.

Bill T
Wednesday October 27th, 1999 10:09:59 AM

"May I look at the map?" If so, Bill will look it over, and get ready to ask questions about any symbols or writings he does not understand. "Who is old temple for? What god? How guarded? Is temple under water?" And after K'isst's question, the halfling says, "Yes, tell us if we can do good for you."

Arien
Wednesday October 27th, 1999 11:06:59 PM

Arien waits for the Sea Elves to answer the questions before he asks any of his own.

Sea Elf Chieftain
Thursday October 28th, 1999 7:03:59 AM

The pupils of the sea elf chief narrow to thin slits as all of the questions bombard him. As K'isst removes her hood, his eyes go wide in surprise as her elven features are revealed. Even more flustered now, he manages to answer a few of the questions as he hands over the map. No can we go with you. We needed be at other place. No get captured by seadevils, eaten you be. Map is safe watered. No have airwater spell for your time for under water? How speak each to? How spells say? No good no be prepared. Here 4 airwater scrolls; each one good for one arc. Draax also bow in respect to the sea elf and nods in agreement to Bronze's statement.

Borbo
Thursday October 28th, 1999 5:01:59 PM

Borbo bows to the departing elf as he speaks to Branze, "I'd worry about sea devils instead of dragons right now. We all know the consequences if we fail."

K'isst
Thursday October 28th, 1999 8:01:59 PM

K'isst overwhelmed at their seeming to accept to accept her heritage, gives a proper elven bow as her hatchmother taught her, and smiles proudly. She seems to carry her head a little higher. "The next time we come, we will bring gifts worthy of sea elves and in thanks for your generous help. May the sea be calm and the sun warm upon the oceans of your souls."

Bill T
Friday October 29th, 1999 1:32:59 AM

Bill focuses his attention on the map [Ooc: can you email?]. "Thank you! Oh, can we ask your name?" If there is anything unclear to him on the map, Bill will ask for clarification before the chieftain leaves.

Sea Elf Chieftain
Friday October 29th, 1999 6:52:59 AM

The map is a hastily scrawled thing that shows several underwater and topside landmarks along with two or three islands. The Sea elf tells and shows you that the first landmark is an underwater cavern and then the temple is on the next island. The entrance to the Sea Devil lair is through this temple. He also tells you that this is the only way in that they are aware of or have been able to locate. after talking with Bill, Galahad and Branze for a few moments, K'isst addresses him with her little speech and as she finishes, he turns to her and says "little sister, It is we who are honored to meet you and yours, if you are who we think you are. Tales have already reached our ears of the adventurers along with the mixed blooded lass who helped salvage the caverns. may the dolphins and friendly denizens of the deep, share with you the light of the deepest depths and may your paths be kept free of rough waters and cross currents." As he finishes you all see off to the sides over a dozen dolphins that you could swear had not been there before. As they come into sight they move up beside each sea elf as if waiting for something.

Galahad Quivelio
Friday October 29th, 1999 12:02:59 PM

Standing in awe, Galahad watches the amazing sight before him as the dolphins arrive beside the sea elves. Waiting for the rest of the group to decide what to do, Galahad looks over the scrolls that were given as help from the sea elves, wondering if they are copyable.

Bill T
Friday October 29th, 1999 1:56:59 PM

"Stupendous!" remarks Bill. "That happened only a day and a half ago. Tales travel quickly underwater!" He looks at K'isst with admiration. He listens to what others may say, then a thought pops into his mind. "Um, have you seen a rainbow trout since yesterday?"

Borbo
Friday October 29th, 1999 7:26:59 PM

"Bill, you know this is saltwater and the trout is a freshwater fish. You didn't put it in the ocean did you?"

Bill T
Saturday October 30th, 1999 3:12:59 AM

"Uh, oh, uh, yeah. I mean no. I put it in a stream near town. But I thought ..." Bill just stops speaking, and blushes, although it might be hard to notice in the airy water.

Draax gets ready for the water to surround him again.

K'isst
Sunday October 31st, 1999 7:24:59 PM

K'isst bows deeply this time. "My thanks for your understanding. By what name shall I call you when I tell this tale to my people?" When they answer, she bows again and then takes her place upon the flank of the party nodding at Branze that she is ready, once the map has been consulted, to go.

The sea elf bows in return to K'isst and Tells her that he is known as Bel Vinaret, and as the groups part and the water rushes back in, the sea elves as one clasp the dorsal fins of the corresponding dolphin and they rapidly disappear to the North away from where you are headed. Those mages and clerics looking at the spell scrolls can tell that they could in all likelihood be copied, but that mages would have to do the work. As for the map, it shows that you need to head roughly Southeast and towards a small archipelago. Now that you have all been down about an hour and a half, or so, you are starting to feel a bit more comfortable in the water and even starting to enjoy some of the beautiful reef fish. you have been parted from the elves for about 25 minutes when suddenly there is an unbelievable amount of fish activity coming from your right and you are being surrounded and buffeted by thousands of fish from the size of your hand to 20 lbs. or so. Once the mass of smaller fish pass you by, you can see that the sharks have been, and are, in a feeding frenzy. There is a reddishness to the water and bits of fish are floating everywhere ahead and they are moving towards you in a hurry. When they get to be about 25 ft away Rond takes his shot with the speargun and his first shot goes well and strikes the lead shark, adding yet another billowy thread of red to the water and even a bit more chaos to the already crazy situation. Meanwhile the rest of you are readying your weapons and Galahad finds that his Mace is not likely to be of much use underwater and those with swords realize that swinging is likely to be ineffective as well. After the lead shark is hit, the sharks close in looking hungry. #1, after being struck by the arrow is trying to dislodge it and miss times its attack on Sedar. #2 rushes towards Branze but somehow just missed its mark and Branze is al but knocked over as the shark passes him and catches him with his tail (Branze roll dex). #3 decides at the last moment that Borbo looks like a nice sized appetizer and heads straight for him only to be hit by a sea turtle that was disturbed by all the ruckus and so Borbo is missed. #4 senses movement from Rond as he is finishing up firing his first shot and is reloading the speargun and decides it is his turn to go through the buffet. MMMMMMM that was good it thought as Rond takes 6 pts of damage from a bite. #5 also seeing movement but this time from K'isst arrows towards her and veers away as it senses the pointy thing kind of aimed at its snout. #6 decides like #3 that Hors D'oeurves sound good and goes after MR. Borbo gets caught up in the frenzy of the destruction of shark 6 and is knocked around and takes 4 points of damage. Galahad finds the scroll and is able to center it so sharks 2, 3 and 4 are in the range, the spell comes off the scroll disappears and the three sharks drop to the ocean floor as does Galahad, Borbo and Bill who are also in the area of effect. Those sharks drown rather rapidly. leaving # 5 and #1 to come back around for thirds. however as #1 circles to attack Sedar he runs smack in to the spelled area and falls to the floor and will also drown #5 having had a taste of K'isst comes back for more but misses and goes after floating shark #6 pieces. K'isst, Rond and Arien may have an attack from the rear. as the shark leaves

Thursday November 11th, 1999 7:00:59 AM

Bill, finding himself hurled to the ground by a blast of air underwater, struggles to stand and quickly but rather oddly, being underwater and all, gets himself up and away from the sharks in case one of them decides to come take a bite out of his hiney. "That was interesting. Kinda fun too, except for landing on my bum and all." He then moves towards K'isst and those gathering there. "We should move on quick. There may be Sea Devils owning those hunter sharks wondering before long why rover doesn't come home." He weebles and wobbles up to K'isst and sees her. "Ouch, I've heard of being 'shark food' but the reality is a bit different. Can someone help her?" Concern and curiosity for the huge size of the chunks of missing K'isst make his eyes go big.

K'isst turns to Bill. "I'll be fine." She winces as she rises. "Let's leave this carnage behind." She begins to continue in the direction they were previously travelling, (Int. check of 12) but can't remember it. "Uh, I've got the flank once again. Who's leading." Slightly frustrated that no one offers her any healing, she puts it out of her mind and continues the trek.

Sheathing his sword after seeing no further threat, Rond notices that K'isst is the only one injured. "I think what was yours, should be used by you now!". As he hands over a left over potion she gave him earlier, smiling at her.

Galahad, surprised that the spell did such a good job, returns to his feet. "Well that was interesting. I do wonder how long this spell will last. It will at least help us in travelling for a bit." Noticing that Rond is about to give a potion of healing to K'isst, Galahad quickly intercepts the exchange, "We should save those when we most need them. Right now, let me pray to Alemi for healing powers to help you K'isst." Placing it hands over the shark bite, Galahad quickly and quietly prays to Alemi, "Almighty god Alemi, please grant me the power to heal this brave woman, for she has and will help us greatly in the journey ahead." Galahad feels the warmth of Alemi's presence enter and leave him as part of K'isst's wound closes. "That should help you until we can get a good rest. I am sorry I couldn't do more for you." Hoping K'isst will be alright, Galahad waits to find out which way the party will travel. "Is anyone up to cutting the sharks open and finding out what's inside their bellies? I heard they hold many items, both valuable and not." Shrugging, Galahad continues to wait.

DM Second trip through the buffet line
Friday November 12th, 1999 4:28:59 PM

Rond realizes that as he reaches for K'isst that some of the blood he is seeing is coming from not only wounds to K'isst but from wounds to Bill, Borbo and a large wound to his own side, and now that the adrenaline of the fight is wearing off Rond is definitely starting to feel the pain. Galahad uses his gods healing powers to work on K'isst with some success and then turns his attention to the sharks, pondering whether or not to do some elective surgery or not. K'isst suggests that the group moves on and as you look at the map you see that you should be fairly close to the first landmark.

Arien
Saturday November 13th, 1999 8:17:59 AM

He begins to bandage up his wound as best he can with wet cloth while he keeps talking, "You know, if we see lots of fish running from something again then we should probably run too instead of staying to see what they are running from. So what's that map say? Can anyone tell direction under water? If so, how? It all looks the same to me."

K'isst
Sunday November 14th, 1999 8:10:59 PM

K'isst thanks Galahad graciously and nods towards Rond to drink the potion himself if he feels he can't wait. She takes a look at the map and point at the landmark. [What does it look like?] "Let's be on our way. We should perhaps get as far as we can as quickly as we can, then rest and heal before beginning the actual assault." Impatient to be off, she urges everyone to be quick with their tasks as she is still lost as far as direction and location.

After passing through the coral archway that the party saw just ahead of them, after a time they come across a cluster of small islands. In the distance they see the next major landmark they are looking for. The large cave is ahead but, is that a large group of beings standing around the opening in a defensive formation?

At Brother Bones' comment, Bill says, "Right, we didn't need to fight them. I was just lying on the bottom between that rock and, and that, that bushy thing there, thinking it would ignore me. But did it - I mean the shark - ignore me? No!" Bill shows the toothy raking marks it made from his thigh to his buttocks. "And it didn't ignore several others, either," he nods toward Borbo, K'isst, and Rond. Adopting a sing-song voice for a moment, he says, "We did not need to fight that, we did not need to fight that, Bold Brother Branze who swam away says we did not need to fight that." Returning to his normal voice, the halfling says, "You're not our schoolmaster, Branze. Rebuke yourself for not helping, but I'll not swallow this rebuke from your lips." [BTW, everyone should have at least three healing potions, purchased with group money from Ruthat.] Bill downs a healing potion, recovering 3 hp. Then he says, "But you're right, the mission at hand is our focus. I'm just not going to ignore obstacles that bite me." Also, Bill helped with the gutting of the sharks. Returning from the UK last night, I separated the before-the-arch and after-the-arch entries.] "Hey, Borbo - you want to try that ring you got off of the Dread mage? Maybe going invisible would be a good idea for a while. And, Branze, as a ray - you could probably swim close enough to get a better look - but not close enough to get poked - without arousing too much suspicion. Other than fish bits, found within the sharks were 10 gems, 30 gold pieces 3 silver spoons and a partially digested hand wearing a signet ring. The cave is definitely under water and the map isn't exactly clear whether or not you go thru the cave or around the island. the drawn line goes to one edge of the island on the cave side and starts again on the other side. The group of individuals around the cave entrance seems to be a mixture of two types of humanoids the large number of them appear to be crablike in appearance and the others, as you get closer seem to look an awful lot like K'isst

[Back by the sharkectomy] Bill speaks to the hand, "Forgive me," and removes the signet ring. With his foot, he digs a hole at the place between the rock and the bush. "May this hand rest in peace, and its owner be yet alive." He puts the hand (what species? any idea?) into the hole, and covers it up with a nearby rock. Then the halfling examines the ring to see what symbol is upon it. / [Back to the present] "Okay, Branze, no hard feelings." Looking at the guardians, he nods in agreement. "Yes, they do look like her. And, since we can see them so well, they can probably see us, too. K'isst, what do you suggest?" Without that head, the dragons of the bay are free to migrate westward killing and pillaging at will. We would take back the head from the Sahuagin that took it and meet out justice to them as well. Then, seeing the excitement of the crabmen and the joy of reunion of K'isst with members of her clan, he decides he'd better shake off his remembrance and keep his eyes and ears open. "Bless Donyra that you are well!" he says to the troglodytes. He follows K'isst in to the cave's entrance, happy at the reception, yet alert, thinking of 'Judith's' caution. Seeing that the group has decided to accompany them into their caves, the crabmen are ecstatic and their chittering increases to an almost unbelievable level. The under water caverns are extraordinarily beautiful decorated as they are with many small live colorful fish darting in and out and lit by several types of phosphorescent growths and rock formations. Finally they lead you to what appears to be a stairway leading upward and you suddenly find your self in a dry cavern with fairly fresh air. In the center of this cavern are two pillars that while straight do lean inward towards each other.... wait, those aren't pillars... those are legs and they are attached to a giant body and 20ft up they can see a head....ALL stone, almost as if the giant were frozen or turned to stone in mid step. As each party member enters the cavern the cave gets brighter and brighter. For a moment the "statue" almost seems life like. the stone takes on a fleshy color and you can almost see the giant's hair move in the slight breeze. At that moment, a very deep and resonant voice speaks and the voice fills the cavern and rings off the walls. "Entombed forever in vilest stone, The Lord of Air stands mute alone. Plea! Seek you the marble shark, And from its bowels, withdraw its heart. Then chip my breast with that you find, And watch my withered soul unbind. So go now; search the sands, So I may return to my wasting lands." As quickly as the voice began, it silences and the stone statue is stone once more.

She touches the statue, half with curiosity to see what his skin feels like and half with the strange need to comfort this tragically trapped giant. She whispers, "We'll help you. It won't be long now." She spins walking out of the cave home of the Crab Men. "We will do our best to return and help Atomos." With that, she bows and exits the cave, her heart pulled in many directions: for Atomos, the people of Windhorn, her home tribe, and her need to be here with her friends.

As Atomos comes to life and speaks, the dozen or so crabmen who came with you fall to the ground in absolute abasement. The stone picks up several utterances like, "true it is, they be the ones" and "set it right will they". Rond and K'isst reach out and touch the Atomos. They feel that his skin definitely feels like rock, but they also notice that there is warmth, where rocks would be cool. As your hands fully come into contact with Atomos, you both feel a tingling sensation shoot up your arm and throughout your bodies, (both K'isst and Rond are fully healed now, if they weren't) and a sense of well being insinuates itself into your mind. The two of you haven't felt this aware, awake or alive for as long as you can remember. As the party leaves the cavern the light starts dimming and as the last person exits the cave goes dark. The crabmen, through the use of the stone tell you that Atomas once helped destroy the Sahuagin in this area many, many years in the past and when they finally returned tricked Atomos and were able to turn him to stone as you see him. The crabmen explain that they are the guardians of the statue and for several generations have been awaiting the prophesied ones. They are extremely excited and happy that you are going to help Atomos, and offer to show you where you need to go in order to fulfill both of your now accepted tasks.

The crabmen lead you back out to the entrance of the caves and once you all back and water ready the lead you directly to a large island to the west. Through the translator stone they tell you that the Temple is located in a clearing in the middle of a forest. They also said something about the only safe way of getting to the Temple is to stay on the path leading to it. There is also something said about the forest being evil and to be avoided. They tell you that they will go no further with you and stop several hundred yards from the beach. At this time they give you a small scroll case which they tell you contains a map of the temple, though they do not know how accurate it is. (see Email)Then they turn and head home waving and thanking you profusely.

"If the forest is indeed evil there are ways clerically to protect against such. Even ways to detect if it is true." he says as he steps from the water and regains speech. Domi lead us to victory." he says as he walks forward towards the temple where the town of Windhorns and the fate of the crab peoples hope lies.

Monday November 29th, 1999 1:19:59 AM

As you all come out of the sea. there is a broad 80 wide band of sandy beech that slopes upward at around 20 degrees and runs as far as you can see to both directions as it curves away about 200 feet to each side. Abruptly at about 85 ft away from the ocean starts a thick and dark forest. Off to your right is an opening in the trees which can only be what you assume is the path, as you cannot see the ground level from where you are from below. Straight ahead and to your left are two human like figures lying face down in the sand. You are all getting kinda tired from a lack of sleep.

As you approach the figures in the sand you realize that they are very dead around them are a rotting backpack full of what appear to be rotting sacks, several rusted spikes, a flask of congealed oil, and a set of mouldy clothes. Beside one body is a rusted, notched long sword and a smashed wooded shield. flakes of rusted metal are scattered all around the body. A rusty, dented helm still sit atop this skeletons head. On the second body, there is no backpack but there is a large belt pouch which is split and looks tampered with. Along side the body are a shattered short sword, a dented but rust free helm there is a withered and cracked quiver on its back with several arrows in it all but two are rotted away. this corpse is also still wearing a boot. As Bill prods the sand around the body, his sword strikes something hard and is stuck fast, there is some give but it is almost like something is tugging back. Even before he can utter a cry, a claw comes out of the sand followed by a giant crab. in the crab's rush to reach Bill and the fact his other claw is grasping Bill's sword, the other claw misses bill. The quick search was more fruitful than any thought it might be. For Bill when searching the first body removes the Helm and finds stuck to the inside in a watertight package in a piece of greased vellum wrapper is a piece of parchment. Also found are 18cp 5ep and a copper ring. the small shield is dented but serviceable and rust free. there is also a small jeweled dagger found in one boot. In the quiver among the score of rotting arrows are two that are in fine shape, almost as if they mere just made. Arien is unable to retrieve either of his arrows as they were snapped off. Branze, K'isst, Sedar, and Rond have gotten to the beginning of "The Path," there is almost a palpable feeling of evil coming from the surrounding, dark, forest and there is some rustling heard from deep within and out of your sight. "The Path" is obviously well used and well maintained. "The Path" is made up of small highly polished red and white pebbles set into patterns. Every 20 ft or so are two large pots containing more of these pebbles, which are obviously used to replace dislodged or missing pieces. From the top of the beach across the sand to where "The Path" starts there are signs of many webbed feet and a disturbed area where it looks like something might have been dragged. "The Path curves and disappears into the forest and you can see no further than about 120 ft.

And they might be not seen by what ever force approaches from the woods. K'isst you could take rear guard, though you may have the best chance of understanding are enemy if they do wish to talk. Let's see - this here's a good helmet, nice and solid." He opens the package stuck within it, being careful that the wrapping can be reused. "And I found this parchment." He takes a look at it. "There's a little money, and this ring." He slips the copper ring onto the little finger of his left hand to see if it fits, then takes it off. "And someone can use the small shield. It didn't even get rusty. Maybe it's magic? Has a little dent, though." He then holds up the small jeweled dagger. [What kind of jewel(s)?] "Borbo, you wanna try this?" all of those who made their perception check notice two things, first, that what ever is in the forest seems to stop about 15 ft or so from the path and either cant or wont come closer. And secondly, the Red pebbles in the path make up pictures that seem to be part of a history or story of some sort. The picture that caught your eye is one that is Obviously meant to be Atomos being turned into stone. As you go along you see other pictures that are vaguely familiar as if they were part of a history lesson, That is being told in a very strange way. Further along the path and finally in view of the temple is the last red picture and the rest of the path is all white stones. The last picture is one of the sea devils dancing around something that looks like the Sentinel Head and there are other figures lying prone, that they are trampling upon. Up ahead about 300 yards is the temple. It is obviously very old, each exterior walls seems to be made from what appears to single pieces of stone, the roof is smooth, Domed and partially translucent. there does not seem to be a seam between the walls and roof. There are no visible windows and the 10' x 5' double doors are open.

Branze Bones
Thursday December 16th, 1999 6:28:59 AM

::from the back of the party he sees the temple:: "Lets get in there and out as quick as possible with the head. We have to rescue the town." he says drawing his sword and holy symbol tight as he looks behind him and moves forward when the rest of the party does.

Bill Troublefinder
Thursday December 16th, 1999 7:39:59 AM

Bill kneels down, and, using some of the stones he picked up, replaces a few near the image of the dancing sea devil. He makes it appear there is an arrow through the head of the sahuagin. "Yeah, let's go."

Sedar the Mage
Friday December 17th, 1999 3:55:59 AM

drawing his short, as their warriors move forward, Sedar stops at the last picture considering what trying to say, then falls into the rear. "Branze .. be careful it could be a trap"

Draax
Friday December 17th, 1999 6:05:59 AM

Draax pulls his long sword ready to advance toward the temple. He smiles as he looks at bill's creative display. "Nicely done"

Arien
Friday December 17th, 1999 10:59:59 AM

Keeping the arrow knocked, Arien checks his quiver to see how many arrows he has and follows the rest. Hearing Sedar he frowns thoughtfully and adds his piece, "Yes, we should be careful, I didn't like that trampling part one bit. Or what it implies."

Rond
Sunday December 19th, 1999 12:57:59 PM

Having his bow ready, Rond will begin his approach to the temple, unless there is a reason not to.

Bill T
Sunday December 19th, 1999 1:17:59 PM

To Draax, Bill says, "Thanks! Say, Draax, could you carry this shield for a while? Hang it off your backpack or something, or use it if you want. I've got too much stuff." And he asks Rond, "Could you put this helmet in your backpack? I can't carry it around, myself." [OOC: items from the two fallen men back at the beach]

K'isst
Monday December 20th, 1999 6:11:59 AM

K'isst nods to Branze and keeps the group moving towards the temple. She motions for a stop near the edge of the clearing around the temple so that we can look around for a second before proceeding. "Looks like the stones are some sort of magical sigils of protection."

"As the party makes its way ahead to the temple and the halfling trickster makes an arrow through the Sea Devil's head a slow breeze tussles your hair. Not knowing if this is a good omen or bad you step into the sea devils lair. The interior of the temple consists of a stone platform rising from out of the surrounding troughs of 20' deep water. The central walkway of the platform runs from the door to a circular dais that is raised above the rest of the platform. Stepping in closer you all can make out, a huge marble statue of the shark god Sekola. There is also a bloodstained marble altar at the base of the statue that has manacles and chains inset into its surface. The statue is old, bloodstained, fragile and brittle in places. Also very noticeable is that the statue is also translucent, and seem in the center of the statue is a small silver hammer. The water in the temple seems foul with blood and the whole temple seems to reek of evil. The hammer and platform seem to hold importance in this place. It must be the altar.

The halfling enjoys the gentle breeze, and lifts a quick prayer to Donyra as they walk to the temple, and an even quicker note to Domi, just in case. Looking into the building, Bill tugs on Sedar's sleeve, encouraging him to lean down for a whisper. "You know what to do, right? That hammer in the shark is one thing we need to get." Bill looks around the temple, observing where shadows may fall. He nudges Borbo. "Hey, cuz, try that thing, eh?" he whispers, pointing to his relative's ring finger. He then points out the water to the party, miming the face of a toothy sahuagin, his arms making a swimming motion. He steps into a shadow near the edge of the entrance. [Body Equilibrium initiated.] Bill glances up toward the ceiling.

Draax
Monday December 20th, 1999 5:59:59 PM

Draax scans the area for any movement other than the party's, holding his long sword ready.

K'isst
Monday December 20th, 1999 7:45:59 PM

K'isst rotates her trident to it's offensive position and steps in. She tries to take in everything as she looks at everyone with her finger to her lips asking all to be silent. Moving to the right flank, she waits for either Bill and Borbo to case the joint or more likely for Brother Branze to boldly go.

"This is a evil place. That i believe is a altar, but i wonder why no guards remain. Have they partied so much to leave us a open gateway?" he says stepping forward with long sword clutched. Looking at the motion of one of the cousins he agrees and watches the water as he makes his way to the altar.

Rond
Tuesday December 21st, 1999 9:04:59 AM

Once Rond enters, we will move to the left flank keeping his back to the wall, and covering both towards the altar, and K'isst's area.

Sedar the Mage
Wednesday December 22nd, 1999 1:11:59 AM

Bending down to hear little Bill "You know what to do, right? That hammer in the shark is one thing we need to get." then replies whispering "As soon as I can get my hand on it we out of here" The 1/2 elf then follows up behind the fighter types. Vaguely signing to the others that he going to grab the hammer as soon as he can get close enough.

K'isst
Wednesday December 22nd, 1999 3:48:59 PM

K'isst motions for everyone to stay spread out so attacks cannot be focused. She shivers looking at the "catwalk" in the center. It reeks of ambush. K'isst then takes a few steps down the right stairs leading into the water. She looks carefully to see if there is any movement or waves in the water. After that, she watches the water carefully observing how transparent the water is. She wants to know if she will be able to see Sea Devils if they are down there. She points to the towers behind the party as things that should be explored. She whispers in Branze's ear extremely softly. "Someone should explore the towers back there. We shouldn't leave that flank unknown and exposed."

The Sea Devils arrive  d10=7 d10=3
Wednesday December 22nd, 1999 5:54:59 PM

As some of the group draws weapons and others fan out forwards watching the walls and the water a noise of footsteps is heard. Coming from one wall, steps out a large Sea Devil with a mace and a holy symbol about his neck. From the other side of the temple steps three other Sea Devils. The large one points towards your group and two from the far wall. come rushing towards you, each with trident down and ready. The two others quickly begin, chanting something in a strange language. ((See map of inside temple for there positions. The party has won initiative, bad guys are ac 5 although it will take several rounds to reach the chanters and one more round before the chargers come into position.))

Wednesday December 22nd, 1999 8:13:59 PM

Seeing the chanting Sea Devil Arien quickly fires off two arrows at it. The arrows whip over the shoulder of one of the charging Sahuagin and sink into the arm and chest of the chanting Sea Devil for 8 points of damage.

[OOC clarification request: Looking at the scale on Map 3: Temple Plan - the entryway is 100' from side to side, about 70' between the doors, so Rond & Arien would be about 25 feet from the nearest chanters (and Borbo & Bill about 30 feet from the leader). Or are the dimensions vastly different from the map? Just trying to understand before major action, as closure with sahuagin could take place this round, rather than a few rounds hence. Or are some chanters adjacent to the altar, about 170' from the entrance door, but just not drawn on the new map? Help! :-)]

Thursday December 23rd, 1999 2:21:59 AM

Bill focuses his attention inward for a moment [biofeedback starts (spot on roll, power score means AC drops 3 to 6! -if you allow power scores, otherwise AC 8)], then prepares his darts for launching next round. [If the leader charges them, Bill will leap aside, and run on the surface of the water in a zigzag pattern up to half his movement.] He hopes that Borbo has his ring of invisibility on.

Sedar the Mage  d100=88
Thursday December 23rd, 1999 3:10:59 AM

Seeing the attack coming from both sides he shouts to those on the walkway to come back. "Branze , K'isst ..... Draax come back" The 1/2 elf will then make his way towards the hammer as the others engage in combat. (OOC if he can make it to the hammer he will observe how its held before trying to remove it.)(failed chk traps)

Draax
Thursday December 23rd, 1999 5:23:59 AM

Hearing Sedar's call Draax spins around and rushes towards one of the chargers, ready to deflect the trident and engage in combat next round.

[Per your email] Bill targets the second chanter (the one without arrows in it), and hits (adj. -2 for med. range) AC 4 & 5, for 3+2=5 damage. His last two darts he hurls at the fellow on the side closer to him and Borbo. At short range, the first dart misses, but the second manages to hit AC 4 for 3 hp damage.

Rond  d20=9 d20=11 d8=4 d8=3
Monday December 27th, 1999 5:43:59 AM

Rond quickly fires off two arrows (AC 7&5 for up to 4+3=7points) at the leader.

K'isst  d20=7 d6+7=9
Tuesday December 28th, 1999 7:30:59 AM

K'isst, who was not on the catwalk, but on the stairs to the right of the catwalk, backs up into the entry way once again, so as to not have Sea Devils both in front and in back and sets her trident against the charge bracing the trident against her foot. (If charged, she hits AC6 for double damage against a charge for 18 points of damage in the unlikely event that she hits.)
