Rond will look around for any indications of recent activity in the area (footprints and the like)

"Let Domi help guide are path from here. Domi show me any deciptions that may lie before us1" he says the quick prayer with holy symbol of twinned swords before him.((cast find traps))

sedar opens the box and it doesn't blow up in his face. Inside is a sandwich, a small bottle of dark liquid, and a dried apple. Milo dips the pick into the barrel of liquid and nothing happens. Draxx looks around and somehow can tell that there has been quite a bit of activity down here recently, but all tracks end at the unfinished wall. Branze casts his spell and gets an indeterminate result. there are no "traps" but something isn't right. Kisst and the others neither see nor hear anything approaching.

K'isst

K'isst continues her vigil. She glances around for another exit however. She takes the opportunity to wipe and clean her weapons. "We should hurry when we can...I think."

Noticing how the footsteps end Arien scoops up some loose pebbles and throws them one by one at differnent places in the wall to check if it is all solid.

Bill takes the rusty pick, and tries to whomp it into the wall a few times. On the third swing, the pick flies out of his hands at the height of its arc, and ascends toward the ceiling. He dodges to get out of its way, and manages to escape being impaled by the now descending pick (dex check). He picks himself up, dusts himself off, and says, "Hmm. I guess I forgot how to use that thing."

As Sedar wonders about the dead end he really never lloked around the area except to look at, check out, open and inspect the lunch pail. The samdwich looks fresh and eatible and the liquid is still warm, or at least the container it is in is. As K'isst stands guard waiting, Bill is playing at being a miner(or is that minor) and he discovers the wall is quite solid. Draxx also finds that when pressed upon the wall feels like solid rock and holds him up. Arien throws pebbles at the wall and watches them bounce off and hit the floor. Branze after reviewing his spell's results tries to not believe that the wall is there and to his suprise, he realises that it really isnt there. Or at least he doesnt see it anymore. In fact as he makes this discovery he sees Bill's pick and Arien's pebbles appear to both hit the wall and bounce back and go through the open space at the same time. In fact seeing that, kind of makes Branze a bit dizzy.

Branze walks on thru the wall and the others follow as they are able. Once on the otherside the path winds around a bit and ends at the opening of a large cavern. 120 ft in to the cavern, There is a stone 12 ft tall pedestal in the center of the room and what appears to be a pool of water laps at the base of the pedestal behind it. On the top of the pedestal is a familiar looking item. It is the sentinel head.

Draax
Wednesday February 2nd, 2000 12:08:33 PM

Draax follows the other through the false wall. He looks at the head that they were sent to find and then scans the area for the guards that he knows must be near. He puts most of his attention on monitoring the surface of the water in the pool, looking for any ripples in the water that would warn them of anything hiding in or coming out of the water.

Sedar

As you approach the pillar more closely, you see several things. First and foremost is that little pond actually covers the entire rear side of the cavern behind the pillar. Second there are three levers at the base of the pillar. thirdly the head at best guestimates looks like it might weigh in the area of around 500 pounds give or take a few. Branze's spell again comes up with no traps per se, although there was a mechanical type bleep when he checked the pillar.

K'isst
Thursday February 3rd, 2000 11:35:03 PM

K'isst continues to move forward slowly to a few feet from the edge of the water. She screws up her nose at the smell of the water, but forces her eyes to look for any movement. She tries to take in the scope of the room, it's shape, any exits. She motions Sedar forward and points at the levers base of the pillar where the levers are. She mouths the word "traps" silently.

Sedar
Friday February 4th, 2000 8:56:22 PM

"There is something Sedar and Kisst. I know not exactly what. Something mechanical, i think. Perhaps are troubleshooters halflings could take a look at it. Do you still have that ring Borbo? Perhaps walking over under the cover it can provide will grant a better look at it." he says eyeing the water waiting for at any moment a sea devil. "That head will be heavy to move. We will need all of are efforts once we get it.

Bill Troublefinder
Saturday February 5th, 2000 4:18:15 AM

"Uh, Branze, I haven't seen Borbo since just after we entered the temple. I think he put his ring on. It makes him invisible, you know. But, I'da thought he'd show up again once the immediate troubles were over. I've been keeping my eyes and ears out for him. Just hope nothin' bad has happened. Remember how he disappeared yesterday for most of the day? Then just showed up on the wagon?" Then Bill covers his mouth, realizing he is beginning to babble. Yet, unable to restrain himself, he briefly takes his hand away from his mouth. "Uh, Borb is good at the type of thing you're askin', Brother Branze. Anybody else here know how to fix traps? Or unfix 'em? I don't." His hand returns to cover his mouth. It looks as though a dart is growing sideways out from his nose.

Borbo is nowhere to be found (he popped out again for awhile. Kisst is staring at the black reflective water and sees basically nothing. Sedar in checking the pillar out catches his hand on lever number two and as it slides down you hear a grinding noise as a stone slab slides nto place where the opening to the cavern was. The bolts actually did come from the rear of the party as the door raised back up. Bill realizes that even should he be as strong and large as K'isst that he could never hope to throw darts 120 feet. He moves to the side of the pillar hesitating before moving into the water. Kisst charges and meets a moving sea devil(#5) who is currently holding his crossbow as a club. Kisst misses her attack and readies herself for the upcoming assault and takes 2 points as a crossbow is broken over her back. Rond quickly fires off two arrows, grazing the arm of sea devil #2, and causing him to drop the bolt he ws trying to load into his bow. Draxx charges and meets #1 and then stands suprised wondering what he should do now as he has no weapon in hand. #1 seadevil drops his crossbow and draws a nasty looking curved sword swinging with an evil leer at the weaponless Draxx and hits for 5 points of damage. #6 and #3 and #5 all fire their bows. hitting Branze for 2 points and arien for another 3. Weilding it like a club, he connects solidly and causes Bill 4 pts of damage. #4 joined #2 in its charge but veared off and is engaging Branze with its trident and was distracted by Sedar re-activation of the lever, and missed Branze badly. #1, having been ounched in the nose by drax for a point of damage ( sorry Drax I missed your weapon in hand post several back) and then being skewered by Rond's arrows, decides he should try and take out the archer and charges Rond trident lowered and ready. the only problem was he wasnt paying attention to where he was going and runs 3ft past Rond. #6 steps up to replace 1 and attacks Draxx with his mace and misses. The lever you all used is in the full down position the others are in a neutral middle position. As Sedar plays inspecter #13, the Sahuagin attack again and #1 again misses Rond and stares at his trident, like it is to blame for the misses. #2 continues its charge toward Sedar but being distracted by the arows that hit him misses his attempt at making the Wold's first Sedar-Que skewer. #3 Responds to Bill's complaints by missing, cursing in a tongue none can understand, and throwing his crossbow to the floor in disgust. #4 Does a quick reversal and manages to stick Branze, not once but twice, with his trident for 13 points of damage. #5, almost taunting K'iist as it dances away just out of reach of her last attack counters with her jagged sword connecting for 4 pints. #6 whirls his mace around and swings mightily at Draxx's body but manages only to hit air as he reels from the wound inflicted by Draxx. Only 2 ft from the roof. #1 seems a bit wobbly, or is it a ruse as he steps up after being hit by Rond and deals a blow of his own that causes pain and 4 points of damage to the stalwart Rond. #2 taken by surprise by Sedar's ducking action, two more arrows, and the quick rising of the pillar lunges at Sedar and sends his trident out into the pool of water. The seadevil has a look in his eye like he would like to join it. #3 strikes out at Bill and misses and throws his weapon away looking like he is going to use his natural weapons on the little fellow but instead fals to one knee. #4 goes for Branze again and misses so badly that for a moment he is turned all the way around(+2 to hit Branze) #5 has a shocked look on its face as it is not only hit once but twice, by the troggish warrior princess. It recovers enough to send a strike K'isst's way but it glances off and does no damage. the Seadevil then collapses. While Sedar has his back to the fight and is facing the pillar and hence the pond, he now sees two more things. First it looks as if there is more water pouring into the room from below and there is an awful lot of other activity coming from under the surface.

"Time to die for your sins. Domi greets all that die in battle." he says as he quickly slashes out at the back of the turned Sea Devil. THe first slash a light faint to draw the Sea devils guard high strikes and draws light blood on its shoulder. The second a piercing blow aimed at the midsection, drives home as Ghetto Blaster slides easily into the skin of the sea devil. The green and red ichor covers the blade as branze quickly pulls the blade out to se if the creature still draws breath.((15 points total)) "I will live, i cant say the same for my oppanant." says the black cloaked and badly bleeding Branze, blood coating his chain mail and sword, truely he now looks the image of the Battle Brother of Domi he is.

Sedar
Monday February 21st, 2000 8:03:39 PM

Cursing to himself at seeing the pillar rise instead of dropping he jams the two levers up to upmost positions" MOVEMENT in The WATER .." he yells out in warning to the others. as he again tries to duck out of the way of the nearest seadevils coming attack.

Monday February 21st, 2000 10:43:23 PM

K'isst looks down at the fallen #5 she has been fighting. If it is squirming she attacks it again. If it is still, she will race to join Bill and attack #3. Wherever the attack goes, K'isst hits AC5 which if it hits does 9hpd. "We need to finish these off so we're not fighting on two fronts. Let someone know if you need help."

Now that the sea devil's head is closer to his level, Bill swings for the neck. He connects well (nat. 20) for (6+1) 7 hp damage. "Hi!" he says to K'isst.

#2,#3,#4 and #5 all fall to the party's offensive onslaught. #1 gets distracted by his comrades falling and misses Rond. #6 swings at Draxx again and meets with some success as he connects for 2 points. Sedar and Arien who are faced more toward the pool and pillar see two things. The first is that there seem to be an awful lot of seadevils rising out of the surf, and second, as the pillar reaches its highest point there is an object attached to the base of the pillar that has obviously been under water and seen better days. (Sedar and Arien Roll perception and then save vs petrification no bonuses).

Bill calls out, looking up toward the head upon the pedestal, "Donyra, and Alemi, Domi, and Mighty Sentinel - help us! Help us against our enemies, the Sea Devils, who stole the Heart, who stole the Head!" He takes the hammer, and strikes the ground.

"By Domi, I will go down as a battlelord should." he says seeing the onrushing lot of sea devils. He quickly quaffs one of the potions of healing. "Some of use will have to stay and hold them off. The stronger of the party, Kisst, Rond, Draxx. You need to get the head out of here." he says trying to urge the party on. "We cant let the town down, even if it means some sacrifice." he says stepping foward and looking at the overwhelming odds, with small smile.

K'isst seeing the panic turn to fatalism in her friends, turns resolutely to assess the coming onslaught. "No one dies here. We all get out." She grits her teeth. "These guys are the ones who will die. We do this for Windhorn! We do this for US! Beware the true heroes that stand together this day!" Deciding she has to attack something while awaiting those in the water, she races over to s6 and strikes at him twice hitting AC -3 and 5 for 11 and 10hpd just in case that the mighty Draax didn't finish the devil off.

Draxx and Kisst disintegrate s6 and #1 misses Rond when it attacks. The water has now surrounded the pillar and is several feet past Sedar and Arien. Arien sees that the object tied to the side of the pillar is the missing Borbo and he is very dead. Sedar loses his lunch as he realizes what the bundle is. The 14 new Sahaugin will be able to attack in one round...Decisions and actions??

Rond Takes a second to breathe and celebrate as his opponent finally falls and then sees two more ready to take his place. Branze's spell comes off easily and three sea devils cease forward movement. Sedar somehow manages to recover enough from losing his lunch to cast a sleep spell and two sahaugin stop advancing. Sedar has a pleased half second before he realizes that he is now basically surrounded and behind enemy lines. Arien is rushed by two sea devils and they are surprised to be suddenly faced with four of Ariens instead of one. Branze also has only a moment to be pleased with his spell results as he is now facing two sea devils himself. Rond and Sedar are both hit for 3 points each.

But the twin devils use tactical placement to cause his wepaon to miss.

Seeing the large number of sea devils he becomes overwhelmed for a moment. Quickly calling forth a quick pulse of persusion (charm spell). He sends it forth over the nearest sea devil. Without waiting to see if it has taken effect he says to the creature "protect me" before turn to lower the levers to bring the statue head down. Spinning away to duck any pointy objects he looks for the ropes.
