Village in the Trees

Flueterflam
Wednesday April 5th, 2000 4:56:33 PM

"HUH!" Fluet looks around, confused and paranoid for a moment. He apparently was not in this world. "Oh, you startled me. Here where?" The bard looks around seeing nothing out of the ordinary. Then noticing others looking up, he does so himself. "Oh, I see. Neat."

Arrival(DM Sam)
Wednesday April 5th, 2000 8:51:17 PM

Callistan leads everyone towards the large group of trees. once everyone gets there, you all can see a opening in the trees that you couldnt see before due the angle of the opening and because of the surrounding foliage. Callistan and the other two elves dismount and give their horses to three other elves that have appeared from the entrance. "Dismount and let my men care for your horses. Rest here for a bit while I go report in. I shall return in a few moments." Callistan says before he dissapears into the forest-like village

Olana
Thursday April 6th, 2000 11:25:04 AM

Olana climbs down and walks over to K'Nara. Looking up she whispers, "Should one of us stay with the wagons at all times, do you think?"

Figment
Thursday April 6th, 2000 1:22:25 PM

smiles as he looks at the elven stable keepers and sees how they handle the horses. He offers Jux to them as he bows and says "I entrust my good friend to your care.". He accepts the elve's hospitality and whispers to Olana "I wouldn't worry about the wagons. They would be killing themselves if they were to damage the medicine."

Dakar the Painmonger
Thursday April 6th, 2000 2:47:13 PM

"Take my burro. He spits, he kicks. He might break your kneecap. Just smack him around a bit if he does. And don't treat him like he's your friend. He's not. He's a pack animal. You spoil him and there will be consequences. Understood?" The dwarf smiles broadly as he gestures with his glove spike, showing the meaning behind the phrase consequences, as if the phrase could have been misunderstood. He turns to the Bladesinger "Now. About how to best deliver this tea to the recipients... Could it be possible to spray it over them, or must they ingest a full dose orally? If the latter is the case we may end up with some severely bruised elves..."

Milo
Thursday April 6th, 2000 5:55:06 PM

Realizing what everyone was pointing to earlier in the trees, though not looking up, Milo steels his nerves and takes his first full look at the dwellings in the trees above... Rocking back on his feet for moment, the halfling grabs his stomach and bends over in order to right his senses... "Oh dear... thats a long way up.." Forcing himself to stare at his feet, Milo reaches up and pulls his backpack from underneath the wagon bench, strapping it to his back, he finally looks up at Olana.. obviously gritting his teeth to keep them from chattering, "oh.. well I'm ready to go up if you are..." Milo manages a weak smile.

Ingrge
Thursday April 6th, 2000 8:36:08 PM

Being brought up short and reawakend to his surroundings, Ingrge grins as he sees the city before and above him. Hearing Milo, he holds back a snort of laughter and says,"My friend, I will not let you fall and I will show you the wonders of the trees. It is so good to be in a place so much like home. To K'nara he turns ans simply says, " we really must talk about this plan of yours.....

Shadrach
Thursday April 6th, 2000 10:00:51 PM

"If the gods had meant for men to live in trees, they wouldn't have given us ground," he muttered. Listening to Dakar, he grinned, "Hey! That's a fine idea! We make lots of the stuff and blast it at the goblins from water hoses!"

Dakar the Painmonger
Thursday April 6th, 2000 10:17:09 PM

"Water hoses? What in the oath-breaking Abyss is that? Daft humans, always meddling around with things you shouldn't be. Next thing you know you'll be suggesting that some force other than the will of the earth god holds us to the ground, and that we revolve around the sun. Hmmph. Ludicrous ideas all."

Figment
Friday April 7th, 2000 11:08:33 AM

The mage smiles at Dakar's limited yet convicted understanding of the universe. He chooses to leave it alone and enjoy the new environs.

Shadrach
Friday April 7th, 2000 1:46:24 PM

"What do you mean, 'holds us to the ground'? It's the nature of things to fall down! These must be dwarven fairy tales, Dakar!"

Flueterflam
Friday April 7th, 2000 6:44:35 PM

"WOW! This gives me a great idea for a song." Fluet hums a line from a familiar song. "Wait, that won't do, that's taken." He hums some variations trying to find a verse that isn't taken already, and sounds good too. Then pausing to think, "Yes...giant hoses, things falling, and the gods! That's it! Now I just have to expand a little more, then I have words! YES!"

Summoned(DM Sam)
Friday April 7th, 2000 11:22:36 PM

after about 30 minuets of chatting and resting, Callistan returns to the stables. "Hello everyone. You all seen to be in good spirits, which im glad to see. I have prepared some rooms for you to rest in, but before you turn in for the night our village elder would like to speak with you all. If you will follow me." he says and then waits for everyone to set ready to go

K'nara
Sunday April 9th, 2000 9:27:06 AM

"I wouldn't worry about the wagons and their cargo, Olana," K'nara assured the ranger, "I do believe that they'll be safe here. As for spraying the afflicted, Dakar, I...um...do believe that they have to ingest the medicine in order for it to be effective. Now...let's go meet the elders and give them our respects." With this, the tall bladesinger follows Callistan, fully expecting her troupe to follow along, too.

Ingrge
Sunday April 9th, 2000 12:37:37 PM

Shaking his head at the sudden light-heartedness of his fellow adventurers, Ingrge allows a small grin to ease onto his face as Dakar makes his pronouncements, I mean everyone knows that the the Wold is the center of everything and that we are held to the oearth because The Jericho wills it. At the reappearance of Calistan( BTW that's not a play on Caliban now is it)Ingrge follows K'narra to meet the elders.

Milo
Monday April 10th, 2000 11:56:51 AM

Mentally attempting to convince himself that he has climbed walls higher than this, Milo steps in beside K'nara... following his friend to the appointed meeting space. He is audibly counting out his steps under his breath... in an attempt to distract himself and calm his nerves. Brightening at the philisophical debate... "Who cares how we stay on the ground? I'm just glad I'm here now... " Milo smiles.

Olana
Monday April 10th, 2000 2:25:57 PM

Olana walks with the others, eadger to know what the Elder has to stay. "You'll do fine, Milo," she says with a smile to the halfling. "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on you. I'm sure we won't be climbing too high."

Dakar the Painmonger
Monday April 10th, 2000 4:26:11 PM

Dakar finishes tying the burro to its post and then hefts his axe once more as he voyages to meet the elder, ignoring the disparaging comments made against his theories and the looks he receives.

Figment
Monday April 10th, 2000 5:47:27 PM

The mage walks with the others to visit the town elder - intriged by elven protocol and politics.

Summoned(DM Sam)
Monday April 10th, 2000 9:06:58 PM

as everyone follows him, Callistan slows down a bit so that he can talk with them as they walk. "The elder's name is Kallah. He wants to speak with you because he has some information that he belives might be useful to you. Ahh, here we are." Callistan says he stops in front of a tree that looks the same as any other, except that the leaves are a bit thicker here than in the other trees. he knocks on the trunk four times, then a rope decends from the branches. "Follow me." he says, as he nimbly climbs up the rope(make dex check to climb the rope)

Shadrach  d20=15
Monday April 10th, 2000 11:20:21 PM

"It's unnatural, I tell you," Shad muttered. "haven't any of you ever heard the lullaby 'Rockabye Baby'? It's a warning! Not to defy the gods!" He grabbed teh rope and began to shinny up, taking a moment to look down and comment to someone. Suddenly, his hands slipped and Shadrach came hurtling down. "OWW! Gods bless it!"

Dakar the Painmonger  d20=1
Monday April 10th, 2000 11:24:45 PM

"Weak one. Let me show you how its done," says Dakar to the prone human. He hops up and takes a firm grip on the rope, pulling himself up hand over hand, seemingly effortlessly, even though he is carrying an enormous amount of weight. Once he gets to the top he turns and looks down at the others below. "If you take hold of the rope by the end I beleive I can pull you up. Provided I can anchor myself to something up here."

Ingrge  d20=10
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:47 AM

Ingrge waits until Dakar is up and then with elflike agility, all but scampers up the rope to what awaits above, stopping once to turn back and grin at those still below.

Milo  d20=9
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:48 AM

"Hmph.... silly dwarf, its not the climbing... climbing is fun... its the being there..." Milo grabs the rope and with incredible grace for his size, practically walks up the side of the tree, depositing himself on the landing above. Smiling, he purposefully looks further up into the trees, making sure not to look down.

Figment  d20=10
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:49 AM

the nimble mage makes sure Olana and K'Nara make it up, and that Shad is OK, and then begins to climb the rope. "Remember, Shad, luck...". He prepares continues to follow the elf.

K'nara  d20=18
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:50 AM

"Shad...take your time...like this..!" The human bladesinger slowly, carefully makes her way up the rope. "If you can't make it up here by climbing, though...you should take Dakar up on his offer. I'll help him pull you up."

Olana  d20=17
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:51 AM

Olana climbs slowly upward."I'm getting rusty at this," she says with a sigh. "Spending too much time on the ground."

Flueterflam  d20=1 d20=1
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:52 AM

Fluet waits his turn. Then after he's sure everyone got up alright, he climbs up the rope. But, he does it with no legs and still climbs up quicker than even the agile Milo. Once he reaches the top, "Well, I don't see why anyone had a problem. In fact, I feel great. That was way too easy." A huge smile occupies his face, as he waits for next 'test'. (dex and str)

Treehouse Fun(DM Sam)
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:53 AM

when everyone makes it up the rope, they see that the rope continues upward, but that Callistan is waiting in the first room. seeing some questioning looks from people, Callistan says "Those are Kallah's private chambers up there. We will be meeting him on this floor, but we need to wait until your friend gets up here. Kallah wants to speak with all of you." then he motions to some benches in the room. "You can sit and rest a bit if you think it will take him some time to get up here."

Shadrach  d20=7
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:55:54 AM

"Sheesh, some people never let up," Shad took hold of the rope and walked against the tree to get some purchase for his feet. At last, he pulled himself onto the tree platform. "First person to say anything else I push outa this tree," he growled.

K'nara
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 6:15:59 AM

The female fighter throws an arm around the dour cleric's shoulders and squeezes companionably. "I knew you could do it--you just wanted to make the rest of us look good!" K'nara said with a smile.

Olana
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 11:00:28 AM

"You made it!" says the elf to Shad with a grin. She then takes a seat, glancing around, looking at everything.

Figment
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 3:59:16 PM

The mage smiles as he watches the others ascend, glad they have completed the first part of their journey safely.

Dakar the Painmonger
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 4:33:15 PM

"Don not make promises you cannot keep Bonze." says Dakar, rising from his seat. "I doubt you would be able to push me out."

Ingrge
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 7:18:33 PM

Grinning at Shad and then a Dakar, Ingrge smiles and just a bit mysteriously sings, "whoops there goes another rubber tree plant...."

Treehouse Fun(DM Sam)
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 9:52:15 PM

smiling at Shadrach, Callistan says "Good, your up. Well, lets not keep Kallah waiting. Hes very busy. Actually, you should count yourselves lucky that he will talk to you." then he leads everyone into the next room, which contains a long, retangular table, with four places on each side, and a place set at the head table. in front of each place is a plate filled with fruit and breads, with two glasses by each plate. "Seat yourselves, my friends. Kallah will be in momentary" Callistan says. then he leaves the room, and shuts the door behind him

Shadrach
Wednesday April 12th, 2000 9:52:16 PM

Shad blushed til his ears turned red and mumbled something, too embarrassed to even respond to Dakar's bait. He shuffled after to sit down, with a foolish grin, avoiding everyone's eyes.

THe mage prepares a plate of food and a drink for himslef and proceeds to examine it closely. "Not bad... very fine cut - and artistic too... These guys are quite the hosts!". He efficiently eats savouring the texture and flavor of each type of fruit and bread noting verbally all the things they must have done to prepare it. "The elves have quite a culinary tradition. It was one of my favourite studies.".

Milo
Thursday April 13th, 2000 1:47:11 PM

Sliding his pack under his chair, Milo sits down next to Shadrach, "Eat something Shad... you'll feel better... I always do after I eat..." The halfling beams. Looking about the room, his gaze settles on Dakar, "Friend, I don't know much of your god, but does everything you say have to phrased in the form of a challenge?" Looking as innocent as possible, "Its no wonder I don't see more of your order... public relations must not be a big part of the religion... huh?"

Olana
Thursday April 13th, 2000 4:50:00 PM

Olana takes a seat at the table and picks up a piece of fruit, which she begins to eat delicately, all the while her eyes moving from one colleague to another, listening to the banter.

Ingrge
Thursday April 13th, 2000 7:20:11 PM

finding a seat next to Olanna, Ingrge joins her in a piece or two of fruit and waits for their host to grace them with his presence.

Dakar the Painmonger  d20=14
Thursday April 13th, 2000 9:19:34 PM

Dakar spears an apple on the long spike that sticks out of his gauntleted fist. After taking a large bite and chewing it for a few moments he swallows dramatically. "Here's how it is. What I say must be true. My god is a god of strength and war, Domi. What is little known is that Domi is truly a dwarf." Dakar nods for a moment, allowing the statement to sink in. "I practice the true worship of Domi. The humans have altered it to their own bent. We are much less ceremonious, believing our actions will be louder than our praisings in words."

Shadrach
Thursday April 13th, 2000 10:35:49 PM

Shad choked as he ate some fruit, covering his mouth and looking down. His choking almost sounded like laughing.

K'nara
Friday April 14th, 2000 11:29:32 AM

Helping herself to liberal amounts of all the food present, K'nara, too, hides a smile at the battle-ready dwarf's words, but winks in a conspiratorial fashion at Shadrach. "Thank you so much for enlightening us, Dakar. I'm glad to hear that my approach to life also fits in with the god with whom I have the most...um...in common."

Milo
Friday April 14th, 2000 6:04:21 PM

Proceeding with the conversation, though with a look of skepticism on his face, "So... let me get this straight... Domi would have his priests act in an adversarial manner towards their allies as well as their enemies... hmmm ... well, its a unique approach..." smiling... "I can't say that I've ever considered trying something like that, but I'll keep it in mind..." Looking around the table... "Oh boy.. well, at least I have something in common with the elves... I love a good spread..." With that, Milo grabs some fruit from in front of him and digs in.

Treehouse Fun(DM Sam)

Shadrach

Shad decides this is an excuse to eat the whole plate. Then he starts watching to see who isn't finished and is looking the other way.

Dakar the Painmonger
Monday April 17th, 2000 2:27:55 PM

Dakar stands, a bit wary, and place a hand on his axe, ensuring that he'll be ready for any conflicts that arise. He stands with a back against the wall, scanning the entrances for movement. "I do not like having to wait. It puts me on edge."

K'nara  d20=20
Monday April 17th, 2000 3:06:26 PM

Having finished her own meal, the leader of the Emerald Talons looks about herself (OOC: tried and failed a Perception check), then shrugs. "Leaders of villages are busy people...mayhap Kallah is in the middle of some...village duties or something."

Flueterflam
Monday April 17th, 2000 6:30:06 PM

Fluet takes enough fruit to quench his appetite, then zones out. It seems that something has been on his mind lately, but no one can be sure what exactly it is.

Olana
Monday April 17th, 2000 6:30:07 PM

"Tell you what," says Olana brightly, finding the conversation on strange religions somewhat daunting. "I'll have a quick look outside - see if there's anything going on." With that, she hops lightly out of her chair and looks outside.

Treehouse Talk(DM Sam)
Monday April 17th, 2000 8:16:24 PM

Figment glances around, but doesnt notice another presence in the room. Olana gets up and goes to the door, but just as she is about to leave the room, the door opens to reveal a tall, somber looking elf. he has bright blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and a sharpe nose. he is dressed in a white robe, with emerald green trimming on the edge of the sleeves and on the hem. he looks at Olana, his expession unreadable. "Sit down, young woman." he says, then he glances around the room. "Sit down all of you. I have much to tell you and little time to do it in."

Shadrach
Monday April 17th, 2000 10:53:30 PM

Shad stole what Fluet didn't eat. When the blond elf came in, Shad stared a bit. He'd never heard of an elf with brown eyes. He though they were all supposed to be colorfully exotic or something.

Dakar the Painmonger
Monday April 17th, 2000 11:06:30 PM

Dakar warily takes a seat, resting his axe against the chair should any need for conflict arise. "If you have much to tell us in little time I suggest you try to cut down on the descriptive words your kind is so fond of. Adjectives are worthless."

K'nara
Tuesday April 18th, 2000 6:22:44 AM

K'nara stood upon seeing the entrance of the elf. "You are Kallah, I presume? I am K'nara...these are my associates..." here the human bladesinger swept a hand to indicate her fellow Talons, "...we've brought the medicine that should help our people in this time of trial. So, please--if there is more for us to know, DO tell us." That said, the auburn-haired warrior woman sat down and paid strict attention to what the new arrival said to them.

Figment
Tuesday April 18th, 2000 8:06:41 AM

The mage begins to rise in respect but stops short when asked to be seated. He waits in silence.

Milo
Tuesday April 18th, 2000 10:51:53 AM

Sitting back in his chair from eating, Milo stifles a belch, not wanting to offend Kallah. Otherwise he remains respectfully silent.

Ingrge
Tuesday April 18th, 2000 11:23:34 AM

Nodding to the Elf as he enters in way of greeting and respect, Ingrge frowns at Dakar's words and simply replies to Dakar, I have always heard that the dwarven folk were blunt, but I had also heard that they were at least polite. I see now one can't always believe what one hears. That said Ingrge turns his attention back to Kallah.

Olana
Tuesday April 18th, 2000 6:35:27 PM

The elf scampers back to her seat, grinning like a schoolgirl.

Treehouse Talk(DM Sam)
Tuesday April 18th, 2000 9:00:28 PM

stiffens a bit at Darkar's comments "Im allowing you all here because of what you brought me, but I will not put up with insults like that. One more word out of you," he says, pointing to Darkar, "And this audience is over." once everyone is seated, he moves to the chair at the head of the table. he smooths his robe a bit, then sits down. "The first thing I have to tell you is that I have it on good account that a group of drow elves will soon be settling somewhere on the surface. Ive been told that they are not setteling near here, but drow anywhere are dangerous." then he pauses for a bit, taking a drink from his glass

Shadrach
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 12:26:57 AM

Shad looked confused. This had nothing to do with why they were here. Maybe there was a line of adventuring parties and the old guy had gotten mixed up?

Figment  d20=10
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 10:26:34 AM

The mage raises an eyebrow at the idea of drow on the surface. His thoughts race back trying to remember anything he may have heard that might lend him more insight (Int by 8). "The drow on the surface. Hmmm. Must be of the neutral persuasion - or in league with Dark Lord. Are you able to tell us where they might be settling?"

Milo
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 11:01:56 AM

Nearly falling out of his seat, Milo catches himself, "D..D...D...Drow!?!" He sits with a stunned, what do you expect me to do about it look on his face.

Ingrge
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 2:11:52 PM

"Drow leaving the underdark?" Other than the two obvious reasons, why do we need to know this? If they are moving above ground then they are leaving their brethren and hence will be under a death sentence from other drow. So they shouldnt be a hindrance to us. Unless of course they are subject to this disease as well and we are to get the antidote to them as well....

Olana
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 2:11:53 PM

Olana shifts uneasily at the mention of Drow. Some of her distant cousins had suffered a great deal at the hands of those bloodthirsty monsters. It made her wonder if they were part of this nasty disease problem. As for Kallah - one of the reasons she had become a ranger was so that she spent a lot of time out in the forest and away from snippy elders like this, who thought they knew everything because they'd lived for 2000 years. They usually wielded a lot of power and influence, and she reckoned their new dwarf comrade had better do like she was doing - keeping her mouth shut and smiling sweetly. But then.. sometimes she wished she was more rebellious.

K'nara
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 4:11:14 PM

"Drow? ABOVE ground?" the female fighter questioned sharply. "Do you think they are agents of Parnoth...or whomever is responsible for this mysterious disease...or are they suffering from it themselves..?"

Treehouse Talk(DM Sam)
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 9:04:46 PM

Kallah listens to everyone's comments with a little impatience etched on his face. "They're not here yet, and I don't know where or why they are relocating to the surface. I just know that it's very likely that they are coming to the surface. Now," he says, after taking another drink, "Here's something that affects the kingdome more directly. I have it on good acount that someone or something in Culverwood is about to make a power move into the Emerald Kingdome. With our armies weakened because of the Wasting Disease, someone in Culverwood thinks it the right time to invade us. I don't believe that we will be conquered, but life will be extremely difficult for the villages on the outskirts of the kingdome,"

Flueterflam
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 9:11:46 PM

"So you're basically asking us to strengthen your forces when this 'force' gets here?" Fluet finally snaps out of his daydream.

Dakar the Painmonger
Wednesday April 19th, 2000 9:11:47 PM

A puzzled look crosses the Dwarf's face for a moment and he raises his hand to ask a question.

Shadrach
Thursday April 20th, 2000 12:54:00 AM

Shad looked impressed by Dakar's self-control. Hesitantly, "You sound like you been getting your knowledge from magic. Maybe it's the Drow that're plannin' to invade?"

Figment
Thursday April 20th, 2000 8:22:48 AM

Seeing the look of impatience on the aged elf, the mage holds his tongue - and listens carefully.

Olana
Thursday April 20th, 2000 10:50:56 AM

"Hmmm..." says the elf to no one in particular, "If they're re-locating - maybe something's going on underground. Something they don't like. I wonder what, I mean it would take something nasty to scare drow away"

Milo
Thursday April 20th, 2000 11:11:14 AM

Milo pipes up, "Ya know... I think I'll just sit here and look confused until you explain the rest of this. I'm having trouble connecting the dots as it were." Pausing a moment to consider something Milo continues, "With all due respect your grace, if you don't stop talking, we won't interupt." The halfling sits back in his chair and waits patiently.

Treehouse Talk(DM Sam)
Thursday April 20th, 2000 11:01:30 PM

"I never said the information would be useful right now." Kallah says. It's clear that he doesn't like all these interuptions. "And I'm not asking you for anything." He pretty much ignores everyone else. "The last thing I have to tell you is that a Hierophant druid, who has been sleeping for countless years, has awaken and wants to speak with the group that brings a cure for the disease, which is you. We are expected within the hour, so prepare yourselves," he states, as he stands up and motions for everyone to do the same.

Figment
Friday April 21st, 2000 9:48:42 AM

The mage stands with the others in respect and waits for whatever is to come, thinking to himself "A Hierophant druid. First the Gold Dragons, then a Hierophant. What have we gotten ourselves into?!"

K'nara
Friday April 21st, 2000 10:42:38 AM

Figment's audible observation cuts off something that K'nara was about to say. The human bladesinger grew thoughtful, instead, and then looked around at the others of the group. "Well, I think we'll be ready to leave when you are, Kallah."

Shadrach
Friday April 21st, 2000 3:53:21 PM

Shad avoided Kallah's gaze to look cynically at Milo and Dakar. The old elf hadn't told them why he'd really wanted to talk to them. It figured.

Olana
Friday April 21st, 2000 5:23:08 PM

Olana got to her feet, and at the mention of the cure, hoped the wagons were okay down below. As for the druid, she mentally braced herself. She'd met four druids so far in her life time - and all of them had been nuttier than a fruitcake.

Ingrge
Sunday April 23rd, 2000 3:52:35 PM

Rising with the rest and noting Dakar's questioning look, Ingrge wanders over to the dwarf and asks. What is it that has you so perplexed, friend?

Dakar the Painmonger

The dwarf turns slowly to Ingre, a scowl on his face. "I desired to inquire who the hell he thought he was, and how long he wanted his people to suffer as goblins, a fate which I regard as far worse than death. Goblins killed my father. Nothing enrages me more than that foul breed of humanoid. And he will allow his people to stay trapped in such a form? I am glad I am a dwarf-born and not prone to this elven patience. There are some things best dealt with immediatly."

Treehouse Talk(DM Sam)  d20+2=7
Monday April 24th, 2000 10:44:37 AM

ignoring everyone's comments, Kallah moves into the room and slides down the rope if gracful ease. once he lands at the bottom, he steps to the side and looks up, waiting for everyone else to join him(make dex check at a +2 bounus or u take damage!!!!!)

Milo  d20=2
Monday April 24th, 2000 11:52:50 AM

"For once I agree with Dakar..." Milo grumbles loudly, then with a harumph the halfling leaps from the ledge, deftly catching the rope in his hands, and sliding down quickly using his rather large feet to slow himself down towards the bottom.

Flueterflam  d20+2=5
Monday April 24th, 2000 5:13:19 PM

Fluet easily slides down the rope, following Milo and Kallah. Once he's down, he grins (evilly) at how deft he is on ropes. More to himself than anyone, but loud enough so Milo can hear, "Wow, I'm just that good!"

Olana  d20=2
Monday April 24th, 2000 5:13:20 PM

The elf slides down the rope with considerably more grace than she climbed up it. Chuckling at Fluet, she says - "You're a natural."

Ingrge  d20=2
Tuesday April 25th, 2000 1:35:48 PM

Listening to Dakar for a moment, Ingrge ponders what he said and nods, I can agree with you to a point. I too think it wiser tp first heal then talk but then I am considered a bit odd for an elf. Im far too moody for one thing and for another I relly have very little patience, but...He is the elder and leader here and he will do for his people what he sems fit. That said Ingrge turns and as fluidly and gracefully as only an elf can be, slides down the ropes. Seemingly without even touching them.

Dakar the Painmonger  d20-2=1
Tuesday April 25th, 2000 1:35:49 PM

Dakar wraps the rope around his body and rappels down the tree with ease, his powerful muscles stabilising him against the branch. "I suggest that a faction of us go to the druid, while some go and scout the quarantined area for the best tactical advance on the cursed lot."

Figment  d20=15

The mage slides down the rope carefully but efficiently and joins the group - not offering any more comments.

K'nara  d20-2=0
Tuesday April 25th, 2000 1:35:51 PM

K'nara sighed heavily as the others departed down the rope, then followed with a grace that rivaled the elf elder's. "You know...if we were just gonna end up on the ground anyway, I don't see why we had to climb UP in the first place..." she grumbled, then grinned to show that she was only teasing (and winked at Shad to leave no doubt to whom she was directing her lighthearted observation.) After seeing that everyone was still together, she continued to follow Kallah, wondering what this Druid he'd referred to was going to be like.

Who Are We Seeing?(DM Sam)
Tuesday April 25th, 2000 10:43:12 PM

Kallah responds to Dakar's comment without turning around. "You're already in the quarantine area. It's about a hundred mile radius. With the medicine you brought us we'll cover half the area, while Titania will distribute the rest. Anyway, the druid wants to talk to all of you, and I don't think it will be good for your health to disappoint him," he comments dryly as he walks into the darking forest

Figment
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 1:20:31 PM

The mage follows. Knowing the elf is correct about the health thing. Druids of this type are beyond powerful - especially in the forest.

Dakar the Painmonger
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 3:33:46 PM

Dakar picks some wax out of his ear with his gauntlet spike as he walks along, in a very idle sort of manner. "So, explain to me what these druid folks are. Is he some sort of Priest or such?"

Olana
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 3:54:31 PM

Walking along, Olana whispers into Dakar's ear. "Some druids are really rather... odd. We had one living in the forest near my tribe. They 'said' he could turn into a wolf - but I think that was something he spread around to frighten all the little elves away. Still..."

Figment  d20=2
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 7:28:04 PM

Drawing on his vast knowledge the mage offers "The druids are masters of the forest. They can use the forest, its plants, and its animals to do many things. Actually, at high levels, they can do about anything. A Hierophant is a druid of great power. There are very few of them - meaning this guy is one of the most powerful beings on this entire planet - really. Very much like a mage who can cast wish spells. These guys can travel the planes, can change shape at will, receive visions, heal, destroy, cause or cure disease. If you are in the forest you are in their domain - and you have no chance against them should you find yourself in the unenviable position of facing one. I would STRONGLY suggest we not do anything to upset this one. He could destroy us without raising a finger should he want to - and there is no escape. If we left right now he would catch us in minutes - or even seconds. We have no choice but to meet him and be very agreeable - or die." (Int by 16).

Milo
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 7:28:05 PM

Looking over to Figment skeptically, "That is an awfully melodramatic view of someone who is supposed to be a living lord of life... I rather think the druid to be a very agreeable sort of chap. I'm sure whatever he wants will be quite reasonable." Milo smiles to himself self-assuredly... and then begins to whistle...

Shadrach  d20-2=13
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 7:32:35 PM

Shad stood watching the rope awhile, glaring. The elves were making this deliberately hard. With a sigh, he lowered himself, almost made it, then slipped. Rubbing his head, he muttered, "I'd do better by jumping down." In a truly foul mood, Shad decided that he wouldn't bother with politeness, Heirophant or elf.

Who Are We Seeing?(DM Sam)
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 10:15:21 PM

listening to the chatter behind him, Kallah comments "Just be careful what you say to him. I dont want his anger directed at me and my village because of something you said. Now, follow me, we're almost there." and he picks up his pace a bit, moving quickly through the forest

Flueterflam
Wednesday April 26th, 2000 11:08:22 PM

'More anger than yourself?' Fluet scoffed at Kallah's comment, keeping the though to himself. "I'm sure that there will be no problem," glaring at those who opened their mouths often in presence of new and questionable people. Fluet seems suddenly as high-strung as Kallah. Yet still keeps mostly to himself. The bard seems as though he knows more about their current situation then he's letting on to.

"A wise position to take, Kallah. I'm sure we can contain ourselves. They are Lords of Life, Milo - and I would bet quite agreeable most of the time. Just don't forget the 'Lords' part."

Olana
Thursday April 27th, 2000 12:29:04 PM

The elf scampers along, being out here in the trees, and amongst her own kind, subconciously putting a spring into her step.

Milo
Thursday April 27th, 2000 12:29:05 PM

"Don't get me wrong Figment, I have as much respect as the next guy, for folks who worked hard to earn their place in life... but that don't give them no cause to be rude or uppity to us little guys... We all work hard at helpin' everyone we can, so there is no puttin' up with it.... I'm no grand high and mighty elf lord or heirophant, but I do my part, and expect to be treated as such..." Milo's jaw has jut out, and the halfling looks as though he has dug his heels in on this issue.

Shad caught up with Milo. He whispered, "What would YOU like to be turned into?"

after a few more minuets, the party comes into a small clearing, where they see an old looking man sitting on a moss covered log.even though he is sitting, he looks very tall, around eight feet or so. hes wearing an iridescent white robe, with a white beard to match, and humming to himself softly, and everyone can feel the strength in it. he looks up when everyone enters the clearing and points at Kallah. "Hey you, I didnt invite you. Leave."

Dakar the Painmonger  d20=10
Thursday April 27th, 2000 8:57:00 PM

Dakar beams a broad smile at the hierophant's attitude. "Oi. I right like this bloke. He has got no problem telling who what's what." The dwarf bows shortly to the giant form. "Not human, are you? What then... Some type of wood giant? Ah.. it's inconsequential though. What matters is this. We've got a cure for the accursed elves." Dakar smiles at this then ponders a moment. "Hmm. No. Not the elves that are accursed. The ones that are cursed." After a moment ensuring that he spoke properly he nods and steps back.

Friday April 28th, 2000 10:06:39 AM

As Kallah is on his way out, Milo looks away from him, and bursts into a high pitched, "Ah-hah!" Then moving forward quickly he stands before the great druid, like a kid avoiding a schoolyard bully. Kneeling before the aged man Milo speaks respectfully, "Milo Thistledown... at your service. Fill us with your wisdom kind lord." And then returns to standing before the heirophant.

Impressed and sobered by the level of power emitting from the druid, the mage stands in silence waiting to hear what he has to say.

The bard keeps a flat look on his face, as to show no emotion, whether good or bad. He stands where he is, not making any point to attract the druid's attention. Yet, despite his actions, Fluet is intrigued by the druid. It shows in his eyes, with just a slight twinkle emitting his thoughts. The message he hopes to silently send is, 'I'm sure you know many great things. May I converse with you, alone, about any of those things?' Fluet still stands, not flinching. As motionless as possible.

Olana

"Ooooh, hello!" says Olana cheerily to the druid.

Old Man(DM Sam)
Friday April 28th, 2000 9:01:20 PM

Kallah frowns at being dismissed so casually, and dissapears into the forest. then the old man stands up, and its clear hes over 8' tall. he looks at Milo and says "What are you doing? Go over there and stand by that other short fellow who thinks im a giant. Now, will you all help me look for my shoes? Ive seemed to misplaced it."

Ingrge
Friday April 28th, 2000 9:01:21 PM

Chuckling at the old man's antics, Ingrge starts looking around for a pair of size 18s.

K'nara
Saturday April 29th, 2000 5:59:03 AM

K'nara had been about to question Fluet about his obvious tenseness when Kallah led the party to the druid's location. The elf elder was summarily dismissed and the warrior woman had to suppress a smug sort of smirk at the elf's irritation. She blinked surprised hazel eyes at the height of the druid. "My! You ARE a tall one!" she exclaimed, then blushed a bit at her tactlessness. "Excuse me--it's just that I'm not used to seeing too many men as tall as myself, let alone ones who are taller..." With this, the six-foot-tall woman began to help look for the shoes the druid asked after.

Milo
Monday May 1st, 2000 10:41:35 AM

Milo smiles, and then smiles some more as he looks over at Dakar. "Hey shorty," to the dwarf and then cheerfully goes about the task of looking for a pair of shoes for the large druid. "I like him already..." he says to Figment as he passes by in his search for the footgear.

Figment  d20=17

The mage scans the area uneasily for the shoes - not liking being vulnerable to and having the undivided attention of such a powerful being. (Perception by 1).

Dakar the Painmonger
Monday May 1st, 2000 7:05:15 PM

Dakar stands motionless but appears to be pondering something for a moment. "Wouldn't it be easier to ask the animals where your shoes are? Squirrels and birds see things which we cannot. And in any case your boots must be huge, I don't think they'll be lost for long."

Olana
Monday May 1st, 2000 7:48:43 PM

Olana watches the elf leader go, and then shrugs. Looking up at the druid she ask's politely - "What do your shoes look like?"

Old Man(DM Sam)
Tuesday May 2nd, 2000 11:00:49 AM

"Animals dont know what shoes look like." the old druid says to Darkar, rolling his eyes as he says it. then he looks at Olana "They kind of look like those." he says, pointing at his feet, which are clad in a pair of black soft souled boots, which no one noticed on him a moment before

Milo

Looking over at the druid's feet as Ingrge makes his declaration, Milo smiles and thinks to himself... 'Of course... if I were to misplace my shoes, what would be the most likely place...? My feet.' Looking down at his own feet, Milo is panick stricken to see his own toes, and then calms as he remembers that he doesn't wear shoes. Walking over to Olana with a smile on this face, Milo holds one foot up and wiggles his toes... "I never seem to have a problem with finding my shoes... I don't own any..." The halfling continues to grin..

OOC:(I meant to say Shad's declaration... What a goof.)

Olana
Tuesday May 2nd, 2000 2:35:00 PM

"Oh!" says Olana, blinking down at the shoes. "Well there they are then!" In her cheery little elfen mind she's thinking 'Yep - thought so - completely bonkers.' as she steps back a little, regarding the druid. She then breaks into a wide grin as Milo wiggles his toes.

Flueterflam
Tuesday May 2nd, 2000 6:20:54 PM

Fluet pulls K'nara off to the side. "I need to tell you something." He lowers he voice to be just audible between the two of them. "I have a funny feeling about all this. Everything has gone too smoothly, even if a little awkward. It seems that there are too many people who are unaffected. On top of that, Kallah seems to be afraid of a giant druid who misplaced his shows on his own feet. Plus, Kallah tried to divert our attention on the dark elves, even if he said it wasn't so important yet. Why bring it up then? Keep your eyes open, there seems something amiss. I'm not trying to sound paranoid, but it just doesn't seem right to me." With that, he returns his attention to the druid to see why they are all there.

Ingrge  d20=18
Tuesday May 2nd, 2000 9:38:07 PM

In his search for the missing Air Jordans, Ingrge finds himself nearby a tree that overlooks the clearing and will allow him to listen to what is said by the druid, so he climbe up inot one of the lower branches and makes himself comfy.

K'nara  d20=3
Wednesday May 3rd, 2000 11:52:23 AM

K'nara thought very hard for a moment, attempting to perceive things the way that Fluet was (OOC: made a voluntary Perception check). The things that were happening DID seem to have no logic tying them together, and now, with this absent-minded druid... "Sir, are those the shoes you were seeking?" she asked mildly. "If so, then we have happily found them. Now...would you be so kind as to tell us why you've been nice enough to invite us here..? We would like to know, and then make sure all those poor people get the medicine we've brought from Plateau City."

Chatting Away(DM Sam)

"Oh, I dont care about that plauge." then his demenor changes to one of extreme anger "Eventually, Culverwood will claim the Emerald Kindome for itself again, casting all of your kind," he says, pointing to everyone in turn, "Out of this most sacred wood. Oh, how I dream for that day!"

Olana

Seeking to turn the nutty Heirophant's anger to one more deserving, Shad said, "My lord, the current disruption of Culverwood is due to Parnath, the Emerald King. He turns it to a garden of his devising."

K'nara
Thursday May 4th, 2000 6:07:46 AM

The humanbladesinger stiffened in surprise and not a little anger at the druid's words. "Shadrach is correct, Brother of Nature," she agreed with the cleric of Disaster, "'Tis that green slime, Parnoth, that ruins the Culverwood...you, of all people, should know that the elves and humans here are all but a part of the natural order of things. Parnoth subverts people and woodland alike in order to line his own coffers with treasure." K'nara breathed in deeply and exhaled hugely before continuing. "Now...if memory serves me, 'twas YOU who invited us here, sir...if it were for the task of helping you find your shoes, then there they are--" The tall redheaded woman pointed to his feet, "--however, if there was something else you wished to speak to us about, then perhaps THAT subject is one you wouldn't mind sharing with us..?"

Milo
Thursday May 4th, 2000 10:24:54 AM

Walking up from behind K'nara, Milo stands beside the tall warrior woman, hands on his hips, and a stern look on his face, "YEAH!" He agrees with his friend wholeheartedly. Then mumbling to K'nara, "I'm ready to run if you are."

Ingrge
Thursday May 4th, 2000 9:15:48 PM

Looking down from his perch at the Druid's remarks, the woodelf, Ingrge, frowns and then simply says as an interloper yourself then you must be ready to leave these woods yourself so that they may prosper and grow as they were meant to and under the watchful eye of the elder folk, not that of the younger.

Chatting Away(DM Sam)
Friday May 5th, 2000 1:56:53 AM

hearing Parnoth's name uttered, the old fellow seems to calm down a bit, but he also seems to get very serious at the same time. "Parnoth is indeed an evil force in this sacred wood. His time is growing short. In fact, you all have set into motion a series of events that will contribute to his demise, but hes not the only scourge in this forest. It doesnt matter if its elves, humans, goblins, ogres, whatever your race is, they are all blights on this world until they learn to live in harmony with nature, not against it. Cities, villages, roads, castles, all made by the various races of the Wold. Have you ever considered how much pain the Wold endured when miners dug vicious holes into it in order get the ore that was forged into your various weapons? Do you know the agony a tree feels when an axe bites into it? If any of you bothered to look around you, you'll see that the Wold will provide all you need. You, up in the tree, the one who calls me an interloper," he says, pointing at Ingrge, "Does not that tree give you confort and shelter? And would it surprise you to know that it enjoys doing it? Think about that." he says, looking at everyone thoughfully. "By the way, thanks for finding my shoes. I dont know what I would of done if they wernt found." he says, his face breaking out in a smile

Milo
Friday May 5th, 2000 9:57:06 AM

Getting bored, Milo turns and walks to the tree in which Ingrge is perched. Sitting down comfortably at its base, he rests his head against the trunk and puts his wide brimmed straw hat in his lap, muttering, "Wake me up when he gets to the point..." so only Ingrge can hear.

Olana
Friday May 5th, 2000 1:07:47 PM

Olana whispers to Shad. "You know we got this same lecture from our local druid when we built our new village hall. One of my cousins burnt it down, you know."
