The Absent-Minded Heirophant

Shadrach
Friday May 5th, 2000 8:57:35 PM

Shad frowned a bit, closing his eyes. "My lord, that is true. Animals and trees die, to more intelligent creatures needs. But those creatures also die, and become carrion and feed the scavengers, and eventually plants. The beaver takes a natural stream, builds something unnatural, destroys certain forms of life and environments, but creates new ones. I know disasters, my lord," He quirked his mouth into a grin at the reference to his goddess, "and they are BOTH good and bad. From the long point of view. I admit that cities are bad for many plants and animals, but we ARE part of nature. As for feeling the bite of an axe, I have had that priviledge."

Ingrge
Friday May 5th, 2000 11:23:33 PM

Looking back at The druid and then Milo, Ingrge simply says of course. I choose trees for the reason that the choose me. Because we are of kindered spirit and will outlast many of you, as long as nothing untoward happens to either one of us. But enough of this pontificating. I believe you have something to tell us, or we would not have been brought to you. You were after all awaiting us here were you not. And if you were, thne you know somewhat about us. And you will now that we have a bad habit of being irritatingly impatient.

Dakar the Painmonger
Saturday May 6th, 2000 12:26:32 PM

"what's the obsession with the poor, screaming, bloody trees? You elves, druids, the whole lot seek to save the environmet. Can't hurt the trees. What about the rocks? Are you going to save them too? There's a spell called entangle out there I beleive. Makes vines grow, perhaps you've heard of it, maybe even used it. Warping the environment is great fun isn't it? Using magic to accelerate the growth of things. Why don't you get to the point?" Says Dakar.

Flueterflam
Sunday May 7th, 2000 2:52:38 PM

Fluet walks very near the druid. He speaks quietly so that the two of them are the only ones who can hear what he says. "You'll have to excuse the dwarf. He's new with us. They generally are close minded." Then he pauses, as though thinking heavily. "You seem to be one who has so much in your head, that you are not always able to sort those things out. But I am not complaining. That is actually the reason I'm speaking to you. I was hoping that when I have a chance, after we are finished with this quest we've been sent, that you could help me. I'm am very interested in learning more about your ways, and harmonizing myself with nature." Fluet watches the expression on his face, trying to figure out what he's thinking. "Before you rule out my request, please understand that I am not as closed minded as the dwarf is." He smiles slightly. He moves a few steps back, giving the druid room to think.

Once more, the warrior woman makes an effort to be at her most charming towards the absent-minded Hierophant. (OOC: made a voluntary Charisma check & passed.) "Anything to help anyone in need...although we all had the impression that there was something else that you wished to speak to us about, since you were kind enough to invite us here. Please...are you sure there is nothing else on your mind, sir?"

Chatting Away(DM Sam)
Monday May 8th, 2000 6:11:05 PM

the old man listens to everyones comments and complaints, his smile never leaving his face. after Flueterflam approaches and speaks quietly to him, his smile gets a little bigger. he places his hand on Flue's shoulder and whispers in his ear, "Later, my son. We will talk later." then he moves away from him and sits back down on his log and stretches out. "You all sound like a flock of sparrows, always chattering away but nothing important to say. Ive already told you a bit, but how much more do you want to know? Ive looked into all of your's future. Should I tell you what to do, or how to avoid it? Ill let you all choose."

Flueterflam
Monday May 8th, 2000 10:19:07 PM

"In my opinion, no person is ready for the future. Each one is only ready for the hear and now. I don't think you should tell us either. If we are ready for what is to come, then we are. No person should ever not be ready. You should just tell us what it is we are supposed to do. Not how, not when, not what will happen. Just what we need to do." He pauses, thinking he might have been too rash. "BUT, I do welcome the opinions of the my fellow companions."

Milo
Monday May 8th, 2000 10:50:45 PM

Milo shrugs his shoulders with a 'I don't know' look on his face and sits, waiting to hear the rest of the group's opinions.

Dakar the Painmonger
Monday May 8th, 2000 11:03:49 PM

"I'm close minded? You don't think about the rocks..." growls the Dwarf "I'd rather not know what my future holds. Nor do I really care. It's death some time for me."

Shadrach
Monday May 8th, 2000 11:32:08 PM

Shad looked glum. "I don't want to hear it. Coming from a guy who would like us all wiped out, I wouldn't trust it. Can we go now, K'Nara?"

Olana
Tuesday May 9th, 2000 11:15:32 AM

"Maybe we should hear about what to avoid... that way we know a little of what we're up against," says the elf. "We still have a job to do, but forewarned IS forearmed." She ends with a smile and a shrug.

K'nara
Tuesday May 9th, 2000 3:17:39 PM

The tall human woman listened silently to her companions' opinions, then nodded to Olana. "I agree with you, ranger," she said, "Forewarned IS fore-armed, and in the land that is controlled by that slimy green wyrm, I'll take all the help I can get. However, those who don't wish to hear what this kindly druid has to tell us, then you may wait for me--and whomever wishes to listen--out of earshot at the other end of the clearing." K'nara smiled benignly, actually wishing that she didn't have to hear possible portents...if whatever the Hierophant had to say was too vague or unsettling to her ears, then the warrior woman might start second-guessing herself. But her common sense prevailed: a clue could be valuable, and the Emerald Talons were in need of any such aid.

Milo
Tuesday May 9th, 2000 4:11:27 PM

Looking up from his spot under the tree at Dakar, "Ya know... you're unusually astute for one of your race... the more of your mind that I hear, the more I like... though..." looking towards K'nara, "I will stay and listen if our friend Druid hear will speak his mind plainly."

Dakar the Painmonger
Tuesday May 9th, 2000 6:17:58 PM

The dwarf shrugs and nods his spiked head. "Suit yourself. I'll be enjoying the local wildlife..." Dakar smiles for a moment. "Possibly for dinner."

Shadrach
Tuesday May 9th, 2000 6:54:53 PM

"I thought dwarves ate rocks." Shad went to the edge of the trees and stopped, grimacing up at Ingrge.

Ingrge  d20=15
Tuesday May 9th, 2000 8:45:28 PM

Listening to all the bandying of words has set Ingrge's nerves on edge and at Milo's commentand as Shad approaches and grimaces Ingrge looks around, hops off the branch and landing on his feet walks over plants himself in front of the Druid and with hands on hips says, You know I am so tired of all this beating around the bushes, I got enough of that in the city. I didn't like it then and I certainly dont care for it now that I'm back in my own country and around my own kind. If we have common enemies then speak your piece and tell us what you want or need us to know and then let us go on our way. If you have nothing to say to us, then say so. I am tired of his scaliness and his dog clipped bushes and false forced gardens. I am going to do what I can whether you help or not." As Ingrge finishes speaking, he is litterally glaring at the druid in what can only be called a hostile look.

Chatting Away(DM Sam)
Wednesday May 10th, 2000 5:51:19 AM

everyone except K'nara and Olana moves to the edge of the clearing where Ingrge is sitting in his tree. after everyone leaves, the old man looks at K'nara and Olana and says, "Ill be right back, wait here." then he walks over to the Ingrge, sitting in his tree, matching his stare as he walks toward him. "You certainly are an impatient sparrow. One day that will get you killed. If you wish to hear anything, join your two friends over there." he says with a smile, then turns around and walks back towards the two ladies. "By the way, id gt out of that tree if I was you," he says as he leaves, "I belive its getting angry at you." once hes back with the ladies, he says, "Well, what do you want to know?"

Milo
Wednesday May 10th, 2000 11:13:13 AM

With a harumph, Milo stands, placing his wide rimmed straw hat on his head. He proceeds to dust himself as he walks across the clearing to where K'nara and Olana stand in front of the Druid. Looking up at the Druid, Milo smiles and stands... silently waiting for his friends to ask their questions.

Flueterflam
Wednesday May 10th, 2000 5:07:18 PM

Before Fluet leaves, "I meant what I said. I'm sure you have the means, so...please contact me later so that we may talk more."

Olana
Wednesday May 10th, 2000 6:36:46 PM

Olana looks to their warrior leader. "Maybe we should tell him our task, with the tea and everything? He might have knowledge of problems that we may face as we go about it's distribution. How big the goblin hordes are, for instance, or whether there is greater need in some particular areas, also - perhaps he may know who is behind it all, where they are - and whether their foulness can be stopped at the root." She gazes up at the druid, looking for truth in his face.

Ingrge
Wednesday May 10th, 2000 6:38:31 PM

Chucking to himself and not believing this druid is as blind and scatter-brained as he appears (that would be impossible) ingrge strolls over and joins K'narra and Olanna

"...."

K'nara
Thursday May 11th, 2000 12:56:11 AM

The female fighter considered the choices very carefully. "The surge of goblins is because of the disease we've delivered the medicine for," she reasoned out loud, "But I'd LOVE to know more about what brought such a clearly-unnatural illness to the Culverwood...and what we should do about it."

Figment  d20=9
Thursday May 11th, 2000 5:11:34 PM

The mage stands with K'Nara and Olana. He bows at the Druids question. "I ask you to tell us - if you are willing - what role we play in the green dragons demise. Also, if I may be so bold, what will be the fate of Culverwood if Parnoth is no longer available to hold back the Dark Lord? It would seem to me that he has a very important function. Will Culverwood survive if the Dark Lord's minions are no longer restrained by him?". With a wry smile, the mage adds "Or is he really restraining them at all?". (Int)

Chatting Away(DM Sam)
Thursday May 11th, 2000 7:26:46 PM

turns to K'nara. "Well, I cant tell you who made the disease. Ive only looked into your future, not into the future of the person who made the disease." then he turns to Olana. "I already know about your mission. The elves will distribute the tea. You dont need to worry about that." then he glances at Figment. "Every action your group takes from now on will work towards the demise of Parnoth, but that must not happen until the Dark Lord is removed. Parnoth is a great evil, but hes nothing compaired to the Dark Lord."

Figment
Friday May 12th, 2000 4:34:01 PM

The mage raises and eyebrow. "So the Dark Lord goes too. This would suggest a huge upheaval in the Wold in the near future. So then now that our mission is complete, what should we do now? Somehow I think you have something in mind."

Olana
Friday May 12th, 2000 7:26:57 PM

The elf looks puzzled. "The other elves will handle the distribution? Are you trying to tell us our mission is over? I wasn't under that impression. Seems to me like we've only just begun."

K'nara
Tuesday May 16th, 2000 12:25:07 AM

The woman warrior's chestnut eyebrows elevated in surprise, but she harrumphed in a piqued kind of way. "Well...if we can't find out about how that happened, then the best thing to try to find out is what to do from here. Have you any information on that, then, sir..?"

Milo
Tuesday May 16th, 2000 3:18:10 AM

Doing his very best not to look impatient, Milo stands quietly... waiting for the old Druid to speak his piece.

Chatting Away(DM Sam)
Tuesday May 16th, 2000 7:49:53 PM

the old druid looks at everyone with a perplexed look on his face. "Dont you have to deliver the other two barrels to another town?"

Shadrach
Tuesday May 16th, 2000 8:59:03 PM

Shad, who was eavesdropping, muttered and threw up his hands, "Then what are we doing here still?"

Ingrge
Thursday May 18th, 2000 4:42:16 AM

Looking at the Druid, Ingrge says, "Didn't you just say that the elves were going to take care of distributing the remedy?" Or did you mean they were going to distribute to the locals?" Well then If you have nothing specific to say about our futures, I guess we should be on our way and stop you from wasting any more of our time and allowing more of my brethren to become goblins.

Figment  d20=13
Thursday May 18th, 2000 4:42:17 AM

Thankful that Ingrge did not name the town, the mage smiles and offers "Yes, we are to take the remainder of the remedy to another small city. We will take our leave of you now to do just that unless you have other plans for us. It would seem up to now you have honored us with information without requiring anything of us. Is there something specific you wish us to do for you?". The suspicious mage specifically does not name the town to see if the druid really knows or is fishing for information without appearing to ask openly. He muses silently to himself "A being of this power doesn't just require an audience of you without a purpose. What is this guy up to?...". The mage actively tries to deduce what the druid "Isn't" saying or what information he is really after (perception by 5).

Milo
Thursday May 18th, 2000 4:42:18 AM

Throwing up his hands in frustration, the halfling marches back to where Shadrach is stating, "A gopher." Turning, he waits for the remainder of the group to follow...

Dakar the Painmonger
Thursday May 18th, 2000 4:42:19 AM

Dakar, now strongly tempted to begin killing woodland animals, gestures for Shadrach and Milo to come to him. "Look, the way I see it is this. This blooming arse calls us out in the woods to tell us 'e 'asn't got 'is shoes. 'irophant my arse. I think we should keep on our way and 'ave the others catch up to us in their time."

Olana
Thursday May 18th, 2000 4:42:20 AM

Olana - the very picture of a "truly baffled elf" shrugs at the others and says in her usual cheery manner. "Well I supposed we'd best be going then," keeping her private thoughts well and truly to herself, sticking to the teachings of Grandpa Elf when he said "If you've nothing nice to say - then don't say it."

Fustration sits in(DM Sam)
Thursday May 18th, 2000 5:30:38 AM

the druid gets a grave look on his face. "Do you think im someone you can dismiss at a wave of the hand?" as he yells, his voice grows louder and louder, until it hurts to listen to him yell(save vs spell or you are stunned for 1 round) "Do you know what you are dealing with? YOU WILL LEAVE WHEN I SAY YOU CAN!!!" then with a sweep of his hand, several of the trees surrounding the clearing begin to move, blocking the various exits out of the cleaing. in the distance, everyone can hear the howling of wolves, their voices to numerous to count. "Now, I suggest you sit down here." he says in a calmer voice, though its evident that hes still angry. "Its time for all of you to find out why you are here."

Milo  d20=17
Thursday May 18th, 2000 9:49:27 AM

Not physically stunned by the Druid's outburst, Milo reverses stride, and like an obediant child walk directly to where the Nature Lord pointed, and sits down directly. Looking at his feet in submission Milo mutters, "Please accept my apology."

Olana
Thursday May 18th, 2000 11:21:08 AM

The very picture of a "truly baffled and now stunned" elf plonks herself down on a seat, especially as the trees start to move, quietly thinking 'I wish I could do that, I wish I could do that', but hoping he didn't damage the roots.

Shadrach  d20=7
Thursday May 18th, 2000 11:28:32 AM

Shad stumbled into some trees, until he gained his senses enough to come sit down. He held his ears with both hands and grumbled, "I really wish you'd tell us. I, for one, have utterly no idea."

Figment  d20=18
Thursday May 18th, 2000 1:46:49 PM

The mage stands in his location as the druid displays his power. The mage bows in respect but is not stunned in the least. "I fear some of my compatriots have little experience in how to properly conduct oneself in the presence of royalty or rulers. Please forgive our failings. I am very aware of who you are, sir - and very honored you feel us worthy to speak with. By the way, my name is Figmentary. Would you do us the great honor of allowing us to know your name?". The mage sits down, sobered by the knowledge that the party - all of it - could be dead in a single instant if this being so chose.

Flueterflam  d20=4
Thursday May 18th, 2000 5:03:15 PM

Fluet waits a moment for his hearing to clear. Since he was near the edge of the clearing, it didn't affect him so much though. At the show of the small fraction of his power, Fluet starts the quietly clap his hands. "Wow, that's one of the things I'd like to talk to you about learning after this whole ordeal," as he comes nearer to sit down. Yet, he feels no shame or guilt for anything, knowing he made no attempt to go against the druid's wishes.

Ingrge  d20=6
Thursday May 18th, 2000 7:31:20 PM

Stunned for a moment or two as the sound rings his ears and as he watches the trees do there thing, Ingrge shakes his head and turning back to the group, simply says, well you know, thats what we have been asking for the whole time. As he sits down bteween Olanna and K'narra, he quietly whispers, "And he talks about Parnoth and others abusing trees."

Dakar the Painmonger  d20=14
Thursday May 18th, 2000 10:15:48 PM

Dakar shrugs off the booming voice. "Helmets are a dwarf's best friend..." he says as he hefts his battle axe to the ready. "And I don't give a goblin snot what you've got to say, as I've already made clear... Unless you want to see the trees become splinters, I suggest you let me out. Or by Clandeggin the Silverhand's beard I'll die fighting."

Friday May 19th, 2000 2:15:18 AM

The human woman's hazel eyes blinked as she stood, stunned by the Hierophant's shout. As the effect wore off, K'nara leveled a cold look at Dakar. "Hold, there, cleric of Domi!" she said firmly. "Know who your true enemies are, and do NOT threaten those who would help you. Stay and hear what this Druid has to say...I'm sure it will be worth our while, and that he will reveal himself to have much wisdom and intelligence in doing so...won't you, good sir..?" This last part was directed at the tall man with a tone of sincere admiration. (OOC: made a voluntary Charisma check & passed it.)

What to do?(DM Sam)
Friday May 19th, 2000 5:45:13 AM

turns his gaze to Darkar. "Listen to your friend." he says, pointing to K'nara. "You can try to fight you way out, but you will die. And if you die here, others will die who otherwise would of been saved. Do you think that Domi wants one of his priest's to die a meaningless death? But the choice is yours." he says, then he motions to everyone to sit down. "And you" he says to Ingrge "Why dont you go ask that tree over there if im abusing it." then he sits down on his log, waiting for everyone to sit along with him

Figment
Friday May 19th, 2000 5:45:14 AM

disappointed that the druid has refused to reveal his name, the mage remains seated and watches the druid, hoping to learn more about him. If the druid takes offensive action he does not resist or move, knowing it would do little good.

Dakar the Painmonger  d20=6
Friday May 19th, 2000 6:34:07 PM

Dakar holds back the anger and rage building up inside him, and his face contorts into a snarl. "HELP!? HELP!? Oh, loads of HELP he's been...Helps to waste our time. Helps to piss the pants off me. ARGH! A blistering boil on a goblin's back is bigger than the help he's offered!" Fuming, his face turns a bright red and the Painmonger plops onto the ground, punching it repeatedly with his nailed gauntlet before giving up.

Shadrach
Friday May 19th, 2000 11:06:36 PM

Shad whispered to Dakar, "K'Nara IS our elected leader. If you want to be one of the Emerald Talons, in the end, we do what she says."

Dakar the Painmonger
Saturday May 20th, 2000 12:28:43 AM

A bit perturbed the dwarf turns to the bonze. "What's elected mean?"

K'nara
Monday May 22nd, 2000 12:06:08 AM

"It MEANS--" K'nara started to snap, then sighed and went down on one knee in order to not tower over the prone, provoked dwarf, then continued in a softer, reasonable tone, "--it simply means that...some battles in life are fought not with physical blows and mighty weapons, but with patience and fortitude. Come now, Dakar, I'm sure that within your tribe there were those individuals whose personal, um...conduct tried the nerves of those around them, yet they were treated with respect out of the years of contributions they made to the tribe? Such is our case now...this Druid is not acting as WE would have him act, but his position demands respect because *I*--at least--realize that he must have sacrificed much to possess the power he now wields...and I have a feeling that it would be in our party's best interest to see what he has to say. So...will you try to fight a battle with impatience, cleric of Domi? I think it's important." The human female looked at Dakar with earnest hazel eyes and awaited his answer.

Dakar the Painmonger
Monday May 22nd, 2000 2:46:03 PM

"Tribes? Dwarves gather in Clans, not tribes... tribes are for the savage races. And as far as personal behavior goes, those who cannot follow dwarven customs are ousted from the clan. As far sas the old ones go... we do not experience the same aging process as you humans seem to undergo. But I can understand the concept of sacrifice for powerr."

Milo
Monday May 22nd, 2000 7:11:20 PM

Sitting quietly, Milo crosses his diminutive legs, still avoiding eye contact with the Druid, or anyone else for that matter. As bickering erupts around him, he silently smiles to himself, and then suddenly straightens his face, as if remembering an old school lesson about respect.

What to do?(DM Sam)
Tuesday May 23rd, 2000 12:22:35 AM

"Calm down everyone. Listen to what I have to say." the old man says "My name is Mohannin. Two hundred and fifty years ago I stepped down as the High Druid of the Wold. One hundred and fifty years ago I went into hibernation. I wasnt suppost to wake up for another fifty years, but Culverwood deemed it necessary that I awaken early. There are strong powers stirring in the Wold, and they are in direct conflict with each other. I fear that the Dark Lord is about to make his move. This not only threatens Culverwood, but everyone in the Wold. Ive asked you here to give you to tell you this. There are dark times ahead of you, where you all are going to have to look inside yourselves for the strength to survive. Ive looked into the future, and all of you are going to play an important part in this conflict. Every action you take from now on will effect the outcome of this conflict, so consider what you are doing before you do it." he says

Figment
Tuesday May 23rd, 2000 1:30:56 PM

The mage carefully considers Mohannin's words. "This will be interesting news for everyone. Is it permissible for us to share it with our governments or should we keep it to ouselves? The part about the Dark Lord, I mean. Also, do you know the Dark Lord's name? Nobody seems to really know anything about him."

Milo
Tuesday May 23rd, 2000 1:39:41 PM

Looking visibly pale, Milo's eyes have risen from his toes to meet that of the aged Druid. Whispering audibly, "I think I'm going to be ill."

Olana
Tuesday May 23rd, 2000 3:56:55 PM

The elf starts to chew her lip nervously at mention of The Dark Lord. "Oh my..." she whispers, "oh my..." And then as the druid finishes, she stands and regards him solemnly. "Well - I can only speak for myself. This is all rather frightening news, which troubles me greatly. But I'm not about to run away, and will face it as best I can." She finishes with a solemn bow, and then plonks hard back down on her seat, somewhat perturbed at the idea of it all.

Flueterflam  d20=2
Tuesday May 23rd, 2000 8:16:42 PM

Fluet feels suddenly important. "I don't why you are all so down. If we really are playing such an important part, than we should look forward to the opportunity. On top of that, at least it seems to me, if we don't help, then our lives are in jeopardy anyway. Either way, there's a chance we'll die. What's so different about now then any of the other things that we've been through?" He peers at his companions with a look that says 'you know it's true'. "If we need to look into ourselves, then I personally don't want to see doubt, restraint, grief, or any pain as part of me. I only want to have the good stuff. That is the only stuff that will allow us to prevail." (easy voluntary chr check) The bard pauses for several moments. He waits for the general mood to shift. "Afterall, isn't this what most people always dream about? Saving their home, possibly becoming famous, overcoming every single odd?"

Ingrge
Tuesday May 23rd, 2000 9:46:47 PM

Listening to the druid and the others, causes Ingrge to sigh rather heavily. Well it all sounds kind of vague to me. And as for dreaming of overcoming all the odds, I think That for once I would like to be other than a pawn moved about at someone else's will. That and I would like to live to a ripe old elven age.

Wednesday May 24th, 2000 1:53:52 AM

The warrior woman frowned upon hearing Mohannin's words. "I've been to the Dark Lord's kingdom...I've seen how utterly cowed his people are. It was the strangest thing--everyone there acted as though the Dark Lord could actually see and hear everything...as if he were some kind of god or something." K'nara shook her cauled head, sighing. "I planned to use the power of rumor and legend to create a persona that could counter the Dark Lord's image...but after hearing Mohannin, I have to wonder if there isn't more to the Dark Lord than meets the eye."

"I know this isnt good news, and thats its a burden, but its best you know now so that you can prepare for the coming storm." then he sits back down on his log and pulls out a few apples and tosses one to each person. Do you have any words of advise for us on what to do next once we are finished delivering the antidote to Titania?".

Milo
Wednesday May 24th, 2000 1:18:02 PM

Catching the apple deftly, the halfling smiles at the druid for his gift... "Thank you very much." Holding the apple in his hand, Milo stands and turns on Flueterflam, "You might want to destroy the evil warlord, get the princess, reap fame and fortune, and live out the rest of your life famous, but my dreams are significantly more simple. Don't get me wrong, I will fight this evil along side the rest of you... fight it with all my heart, but I think Shadrach is being a little more realistic as to our chances for survival on this. But, if I can spare whole nations pain and misery by sacrificing myself, I will. In short, don't blow smoke up my arse bard... fairy tales are for fools."

Wednesday May 24th, 2000 1:18:03 PM

"Oh, I think it'll be worse than that," he said with a dismal smile, regarding his apple. "I keep hearing that our actions will have more consequences than we know. I think we're going to screw up and cause some horrific holocaust and our names will be cursed for ages in infamy."

Olana
Wednesday May 24th, 2000 4:16:49 PM

Olana takes the apple gratefully, and then smiles at Shad as though he's a troublesome elfkin. "Oooh, stop it Shad," she says. "You'll have us all slitting our throats."

Dakar the Painmonger

"I am prepared to launch myself into the Abyss to save a single life. Death holds a strange comfort for me... But I would like to die with my final oaths fulfilled." says the dwarf, as he cuts and eats the apple, punching the core out with a spiked fist.

Flueterflam
Wednesday May 24th, 2000 8:26:08 PM

Fluet takes the apple and bows slightly in respect. Then he turns to Milo, "Whoa, you're goin a little bit over board. First off, we're not dead yet. Second, I wasn't saying that we should be doing this just to get famous. I just meant that maybe things will go better than all you pessimistic depressed people think it will. If you all think that way, then you probably will all die. If will is all I need, then mine won't be weak. I am determined not to die until I'm more than only eighteen years old. I need to live into my twenties at least." He stops, realizing he's been side-tracked. "Anyway, point being, the less we all think about dying horrifically, the more we can get accomplished." After speaking the last words, Fluet appears satisfied that he got the correct point across finally.

after everyone acepts his gift, Mohannin says "I need to go. I have preperations I need to make. I wish you all luck." he says. he starts to walk away, when he stops for a moment and looks at Flueterflam "We'll talk soon" he says with a wink, then he enters the woods, dissapearing from sight

The mage rises in respect and bows as Mohannin exits. "It has been my pleasure to speak with you. I will heed your words and warnings carefully.". Once he exits the mage suggests "Time does not appear to be on our side. I would recommend we do as Ingrge has suggested and get the rest on the antidote delivered immediately to Titania.". He follows the fighters back toward the elven city of trees.

Olana
Thursday May 25th, 2000 2:04:32 PM

"I couldn't agree more," says Olana - chirpy as a songbird, and eager to be off. She will crunch on the apple within the next hour as directed, as they prepare to move out.

Milo
Thursday May 25th, 2000 2:04:33 PM

Not convinced by Fleuterflam's cheery disposition, Milo sullenly turns to follow Olana, crunching into his apple absentmindedly. The halfling's face rests in stern concentration as he considers the problem, as well as possible solutions.

Dakar the Painmonger
Thursday May 25th, 2000 2:04:34 PM

Pushing himself up from the ground, the dwarf raises his axe to prepare for travel again. "Finally, we're leaving... I thought we'd never get out of this blasted grove and I'd grow old here."

Shadrach
Thursday May 25th, 2000 2:33:13 PM

"Well, what do you expect of a guy who only talks to squirrels and trees?" Shad left the grove with relief, heading for the wagons. No more elf trees for him!

Heading Back(DM Sam)
Thursday May 25th, 2000 8:12:53 PM

as soon as the old druid dissapears, the howling of the wolves stops, and the trees that moved to block your path earlier move back into the forest. as everyone prepares to go back to the village, Callistan appears on the outer edge of the grove. "Im so glad I found you. I know its late, but I need to ask you for your help. One of my patrols that I sent out has dissapeared. I fear that they may of been ambushed."

Ingrge
Thursday May 25th, 2000 8:12:54 PM

Biting into his apple as he recieves it, Ingrge chuckles at Shad's comments and says, "You know Shad, you always find a way to make things look so much brighter abd cheerier. Are you sure you're not a dwarf?" ::looking over at their newest member:: "No offense intended." As Calistan appears and makes his statement, ingrege just shakes his head, finishes his apple, digs a shallow hole in the ground, plants his apple core and stands up ready for orders.

K'nara
Friday May 26th, 2000 6:20:21 AM

The human bladesinger chuckled at Ingrge's comment about Shadrach's personality, idly polishing the apple given to her by the mysterious Heirophant. Even as she went to bite into her fruit, however, Callistan's sudden appearance and dire announcement made K'nara pause. "An ambush? Just what we need right now!" she replied, rolling her hazel eyes and sighing. "Okay...we can delay getting the rest of the antidote to Titania long enough to help you find out what happened." K'nara went on to get whatever details as to where and when the patrol in question disappeared, so that the Emerald Talons could follow and investigate.

Milo
Friday May 26th, 2000 10:36:41 AM

The halflings head snaps up from his musings as need replaces thought. "I'm ready for this one... I'll be very close." And with that the halfling slips a finger on his ring becoming invisible.

"Hmf." As the prospect of battle threatened, Shad prudently finished off his apple. He headed off to get his trident from the wagon.

Looking For Trouble(DM Sam)
Sunday May 28th, 2000 8:47:09 AM

while those who need to go get their equipment, Callistan turns to the others. "Im not sure exactly where they dissapeared at, but we'll follow their patrol route. Even if whoever or whatever did this isnt on the route, we should find some signs of where they might be. As soon as you all get what you need, we'll get going." as he waits for the others get back, a sudden thought comes over Callistan. "Do you need torches? It will get dark in less than an hour, and the patrol route will take us three hours to travel. Normally we dont use them, but I just realized some of you might have problems seeing in the dark."

Olana
Sunday May 28th, 2000 1:19:41 PM

Olana nods at K'nara. "Okay I'll check on the wagons on the way out," says the elf, checking her stuff and jumping into action.

K'nara
Monday May 29th, 2000 6:23:48 AM

"Torches, hmmm...yes, we will, unfortunately," the leader of the Emerald Talons replied to Callistan's inquiry, "The humans in our party aren't blessed with nightsight, so we'll be needing them. Now...are we going on foot, or do I need to saddle up Poki..?"

Milo
Monday May 29th, 2000 11:16:39 AM

Milo stands silently, and invisibly, flanking K'nara, his pack slung across his back. He waits patiently for the group to begin moving.

Ingrge
Monday May 29th, 2000 7:54:13 PM

You may go on foot if you like but I will bring Moon Shadow in either case.

Shadrach
Tuesday May 30th, 2000 1:52:56 PM

Shad returned and waited to hear whether or not they'd be taking horses. He'd vote no, unless the whole party took them.

Horses?(DM Sam)
Tuesday May 30th, 2000 7:16:52 PM

"I wont stop you from bringing them, but id suggest not bring the horses. The trail is little more than a hunting path, and your horses would find trouble traveling. Also, they would alert whatever ambushed my patrol, and the same would happen to us." Callistan says

Olana
Tuesday May 30th, 2000 7:44:53 PM

Olana checks on the wagons, and presuming everything is okay - rejoins the others, ready to move out.

Milo
Tuesday May 30th, 2000 10:23:31 PM

From the air next to K'nara comes Milo's disembodied voice... "I'd just as soon walk... I've had enough of sitting in that wagon to last me a while... And besides... I agree.. I'm much quieter without a horse... hee hee ..."

Dakar the Painmonger
Tuesday May 30th, 2000 10:56:32 PM

Quirking a brow, the dwarf hesitates a moment before speaking. "If one of us, and I nominate myself for this, since I am nosiest, went before the others, we could flush our enemy out and surround them. I am sure I can be capable of survivng for enough time for you to come to the rescue."

K'nara
Tuesday May 30th, 2000 11:55:32 PM

The chestnut-haired human female nodded at Callistan's words. "If you insist on taking Moon Shadow, Ingrge, then wrap his feet and take up the rear guard," she told her second-in-command, "And--since Dakar is willing to be point, I'm in the mood to let him...you have infravision and all, too." She added this last bit with a serious voice, but accompanied it with a wink and a smile. "Okay, then--let's get going..." With this, the woman warrior took up a torch and started off, sans Poki.

Ingrge
Thursday June 1st, 2000 10:35:07 AM

Grumbling a bit about leaving Moon Shadow in a stranger's care, Ingrge relents after drawing a promise from Calistan that he will be well cared for. After seeing that his mount is well care for, he takes his place in the middle of the group and with staff in hand gets ready to leave.

Milo
Thursday June 1st, 2000 10:35:08 AM

As the group prepares to leave, Milo takes up a position 10 feet behind the rear of the group, remaining invisible, and at the edge of the light coming from Shadrach's torch.

Flueterflam

"Here it is." he says pointing into the woods(everyone make a perception check or your not able to find the path)he turns to Darkar "Follow me for the first hundred yards so that I can show you how to identify the paths marks, then you can take your point position(Darkar make another perception check or you cant identify the marks that make up the path; and i need a marching order.)

Olana nods at Ingrge. "Aye - it's a difficult path to see, but it's there." She moves a little to the let of Ingrge so they get a good sweep of the forest ahead, and she keeps Dakar within her sight.

Dakar spots the path with ease but is forced to squint and put on a pair of spectacles to see the tracks.. Satisfied that he can make them out he hefts his axe and nods, before tanking off down the trail.

Flueterflam
Friday June 2nd, 2000 8:06:27 AM

Fluet continues on trying to keep up with the others in front as best as possible. He notices something poking him on his side. He turns to where he's pretty sure Shad is, "Stop poking me, you weirdo."

Bringing up the rear invisibly, Milo spots the path, being similar to ones he'd seen at home, and follows his friends, wary of possible threats to the rear of the group. Though the nature of the path makes it difficult for him to remain absolutely silent, he hopes that all the noise everyone else is making, will mask his own.

Nature Hike(DM Sam)
Friday June 2nd, 2000 8:40:11 PM

seeing that everyone is ready, Callistan leads everyone to the trail. after about 100 yards, after showing Darkar how to identify the trail markings, he moves towards the middle, getting right in front of Shadrach. "Be careful and move as quiet as you can, we want to see them before they see us." Callistan says

Ingrge
Saturday June 3rd, 2000 2:19:44 PM

As Callistan makes his move rearward, Ingrge reaches into his side pouch pulls of a flask of liquid and downs it in one quick flourish. To Olanna's amazement, as well as to those directly behind him, Ingrge vanishes from sight.
