Arrisa Saturday July 1st, 2000 9:07:49 AM
Arrisa takes a look at the latch and wonders to herself if hitting itwith the end of the quarterstaff could open it, or at least use the quarterstaffas leverage....
Rond Saturday July 1st, 2000 9:13:37 PM
Rond ponders the latch, but lets others take care of it.
Ahkum Monday July 3rd, 2000 8:07:51 AM
He follows the group and stands around waiting patiently for his comrades to try the latch near the dias. He says a silent prayer to WardD and awaits the outcome.
Sedar Monday July 3rd, 2000 8:18:31 AM
Moves up to see what Draxx is doing with the latch. "hurry up and open it" The Mage will give the latch a try if Draxx fails to open it.
Bill Troublefinder Monday July 3rd, 2000 2:36:43 PM
"Hey, Sedar," prompts Bill as the group gathers around the foot of the dais. "I'm pretty tired. How 'bout you? I've never gone so long without sleeping before. Know what I wanna do when we get home, and our dear Sentinel is back in place? Take a nice hot bath, and get this salt water outta my pores. Then sleep for about a week!" Bill looks up at Sedar, "How did you become an adventurer, anyhow?"
Arien Monday July 3rd, 2000 3:58:07 PM
Arien pats around in his pockets until he finds his lockpick kit and giving it a shake at the others, "I'll give it a go if ya like."
DM Kent ( dais dias dais dias dais) Monday July 3rd, 2000 6:45:52 PM
The dais'latch opens easily enough with a loud click and the hole dais seems to slide to the side. A noticable hiss is heard as the door slides open. After a few moments the group slides the dais the rest of the way off the opening and below is seen a hollowed out space that is very neatly packed with 3 chests, and several bulkily wrpped items.
Sedar the sleepless Monday July 3rd, 2000 8:59:24 PM
As he makes his way down to investigate the chests and wraaped items. "Bill T . I could sleep a whole week too. Not to mention a month or two of just slouching around." then adds as he continues opening and unwrapping. "Adventuring came by some strange circumstances. the world is a whole lot smaller than I ever thought it was. ..... what have we here "
Rond Monday July 3rd, 2000 10:11:49 PM
Rond will do his best to help out in opening/laying out/counting all the items that are around. He also is going to make sure that nothing is sacred to anyone, or anything.
Arien Tuesday July 4th, 2000 1:06:03 AM
"Ooh, now this is the part i like!" Arien exlaims while wiggling his fingers in anticipation. He then unwraps the objects with a gusto.
Draax Tuesday July 4th, 2000 1:55:48 AM
Draax watches as the others removes the items, he looks on with interest wondering what the items could be.
Bill Troublefinder Tuesday July 4th, 2000 4:30:49 AM
"How big did you think it was, and how much smaller did you find out it was?" Bill asks Sedar. He sees the spellcaster's attention diverted by the opening. Bill walks around to the opposite side, so he can keep his eyes on the entrance to the room. For good measure, he looks up at the ceiling high above, the walls. Once assured that all seems well, the halfling gives his attention to the goodies below. But every ten to twenty seconds, he glances quickly around again. "Interestin'." Bill picks up one of the wrapped bundles, and places it to the side, and unwraps it. He hopes Sedar answers his question. He thought the world was always more or less the same size.
Ahkum Tuesday July 4th, 2000 7:41:43 AM
Ahkum simply stands by watching the development of the bundles. He turns around as the group works on the bundles watching for any assault that might occur from the other side.
DM Kent ( dais dias dais dias dais) Tuesday July 4th, 2000 12:23:36 PM
(As far as your characters know it is just about dawn the on the on the second day since leaving the hamlett. You left in the evening traveled underwater and were underground all day and most of the next night, left the temple around midnight and now it is about 5 AM. Now as far as everyone elde is concerned, you all have been gone about six weeks. The signs of time are all around you, what with the partially decayed dragon etc. Right now you feel like you have been up for about 40 hrs without sleep.)
K'isst Tuesday July 4th, 2000 12:23:37 PM
K'isst leans on her trident wearily standing beside Ahkum and smiling at their hosts. He turns and says. "Arien, you're in charge of treasure opening. Don't let the others get poisoned or blown up in their enthusiasm. I suggest we get the stuff and analyze it later. It's kinda rude to count coins in front of an ally." She yawns and shakes herself awake.
DM Kent (too many cooks.....) Tuesday July 4th, 2000 12:55:04 PM
Seeing as the space below is just a hollowed out space that is packed with things there really isnt room for more than one person to get down and hand things up. once sedar gets down he can easily hand most of the stuff up by himself, though with the last chest he needs a hand getting lifted up.
DM Kent (is it someone's birthday?) Tuesday July 4th, 2000 1:18:00 PM
There are 4 wrapped packages and is is very obvious what they are even without unwrapping them. One is a battle axe, one a staff, one a quiver of arrows and the last is a crossbow. The three chests are of different weights and sizes. All three of them are locked. The first chest is about 18 inches long, 12 inches wide and about 4 inches deep. It weighs about 15 pounds and has a simple keyhole lock right in front center of the top of the the chest itself.Chest number two is about 24 inches long, 18 inches wide and 12 inches deep. It weighs about 30 pounds. As it is moved things shift around inside of it. The third chest, is 4ft long, 2 ft wide, and 30 inches deep. It is this chest that when Sedar tries to move it he almost strains himself and it doesnt budge. With the aid of K'isst, Rond and Arien, the chest is finally raised out of the hollow. As this chest is dropped onto the ground the sound of metallic jingling is heard from within.
DM Kent (is it someone's birthday?) d100=69 d100=12 d100=5 Tuesday July 4th, 2000 1:28:47 PM
As Arien works his magic on the locks he finds that the third chest's lock will not yield to his picks. the first box though opens easily revealing an array of 12 - 6 inch long, 1 &1/2 inch diameter glass tubes, each filled with a liquid substance. The second Chest's lock also quickly yields its contents to Arien's lock mastery. Inside this chest is found: a pair of silver bracers, a bundle of 5 darts, a dagger with a carved dragon's head pommel, 3 rings, an 18 inch, etched, ivory wand, an ashen grey colored cloak, an empty 10# bag, a small pouch and 5 sealed scroll tubes.
Sedar the sleepless and greedy Tuesday July 4th, 2000 9:25:55 PM
Stunned at the amount of treasure found, he simlpy fondles the items trying to get a much better look at things.
Ahkum Wednesday July 5th, 2000 12:50:23 PM
The priest sits on the floor with a yawn and leans on his staff. He looks up at the troglodyte warrior woman and flashes a tired smile, "That's a lot of treasure."
Bill Troublefinder Wednesday July 5th, 2000 2:54:58 PM
"Oo-oo - darts, bracers, rings. Oo-oo," Bill says appreciatively.
K'isst Wednesday July 5th, 2000 2:54:59 PM
"This is wrong." K'isst draws Bill aside and repeats herself. "This is wrong. We can't waste time with treasure right now. We have a mission to accomplish. I say we trust our new friends here to keep this for us and that we finish our mission. It's too heavy to carry and will slow us down. There are lives at stake and if it's truly been weeks, then I hate to even think about what has happened to our lovely Hamlet. I feel that we must move on now! What do you think?"
Rond Wednesday July 5th, 2000 7:48:32 PM
Hearing K'isst's entreaty, Rond moves over to listen. At the conclusion of her plea, "I agree. We must move on, knowing the time frame that has passed. We can ask that they look over it, or that they deliver it to the hamlet for us. Plus, I think the chief should be allowed to pick out something for himself, since he aided us during that last melee."
Bill Troublefinder Wednesday July 5th, 2000 8:35:48 PM
"Wrong?" the halfling asks slowly. "When Atomos himself ... bid us choose what to do with it?" Bill asks K'isst. "When some of the items might help us with whatever else we may face in returning and re-establishing the Head? K'isst, you are brave, and I share your sense of urgency, but I only partially agree with you. Yes, let the chief select any item. Monetary treasure? We can leave it here ... in part because it probably is too heavy to carry without magical aid. But let us avail ourselves of the rest, to aid us in our quest." Bill addresses all of his friends and stalwart companions. "I think that fifteen minutes wisely spent in this place may help us and our town more than sprinting off this instant would. It would be wrong for us not to at least try to discover something about that which great Atomos has left us. Let us ask the chief, and see if he knows of what is here."
Sedar Wednesday July 5th, 2000 8:35:49 PM
"That's a good idea Bill T. Let's give it some time to think this trough. Six weeks or six weeks and 15 minutes makes little difference."
Draax Wednesday July 5th, 2000 10:26:44 PM
Draax nods in agreement as he fights off a yawn while listening to Bill. He sits on the floor and closes his eyes claiming to just be resting them.
Arien Wednesday July 5th, 2000 11:24:28 PM
Arien mutters in annoyance at the box that wouldn't open and hands it to Sedar, "Wanna give it a shot?"
DM Kent (is it really better to be late than never... or time truly is relative) Thursday July 6th, 2000 8:21:23 AM
The chieftain and his guards are standing there with their jaws all but touching the floor as you remove the chests from the hollow. When asked he disavows any knowledge of the stuff being there or knowing what any of it is. When offered a choice from the loot he thanks you and then ponders a moment looking over the items. At K'isst's words he gets nods in agreement and then a worried look appeares on his face. He looks almost like he is going to say something, but instead goes back to gawking at the treasure trove.
K'isst Thursday July 6th, 2000 8:21:24 AM
"Usually I follow your lead Bill, but in this case, only partially. Look at the stuff quickly. Anything that can readily be identified by sight we take. Anything else we leave because we don't have the time to identify anything magical. So take a quick look at it my friend and catch up with us. I start pushing the head now." She moves to exit the cave of the Crab Men when she sees the chief's strange look. "Please speak your mind, honorable chief. Your advice will be heeded." K'isst looks very anxious to leave both in body language and in tone of voice.
Rond Thursday July 6th, 2000 8:53:13 PM
"Compare what we have done in a day, maybe a day and a half, and you are unconcerned about 15 minutes?" While he says this, Rond will grab the quiver. "All present have input here" eyeing the chief. "Plus you may have other news".
Sedar Thursday July 6th, 2000 8:53:14 PM
"ok, quick it is ..." Grabbing the Bracers, rings, and dagger, he throws them into his sachel. "Ready !, lets go !" smiles.
Arien Thursday July 6th, 2000 9:25:44 PM
Grabbing the rest of the stuff, Arien tucks the stubborn box under his arm and looks around, "So uh, I'm ready to go."
Bill Troublefinder Thursday July 6th, 2000 10:07:37 PM
"Very well, five minutes then. Can't say I'm not willing to compromise," Bill says to Rond and the retreating K'isst. "Rond, why don't you take the arrows?" he suggests before Rond disappears. "Arien - that box is just too heavy to take, I think. Chieftain, sir, will you watch over this? Arien - put something in that empty bag. See what it'll hold. Maybe try some of your equipment." He hands Arien his speargun (sans spear). "Will this fit, too?" he asks Arien. Whether it does or not, he'll ask for the speargun back after (and if) Arien tries his suggestion. "Arrisa, Sedar, Ahkum - you all use staves, right? One of you want to try this staff? I'll bet the glass tubes are healing potions, but it's just a guess. Sedar - if you don't want to try those bracers, or if someone else doesn't, I'll try 'em on. I can't wear any armor myself, otherwise." He tries them on, if Sedar lets him. "Let's keep the cloak wrapped until we get on dry land again. Same with the scrolls and wand, I guess. The rings? Oh well, later..." As Bill's many suggestions flow out of his mouth, he indicates with his hands to the crabman chief that he might choose something before they go. Bill takes a moment to look at the wand and the etchings thereon to see if he recognizes anything, and commits to memory what he sees. "Someone wanna carry the dragon dagger? How about the pouch?" Bill asks, "Anyone else here use darts? If not, I'll give them a try when we have a chance." If no one objects, he places them in his bandolier. He puts whatever bound them together into his backpack. "Anyone here use an axe? Or crossbow?" He looks around. "Fellows, I doubt good Atomos would have left us things that will hurt us, if we are wise and careful. And," with a smile, "feel free to agree or disagree with my suggestions, for that's all they are. Okay, chief sir," Bill begins to take his leave, "With K'isst out of the room, I don't know if you'll understand, but thank you. Maybe close the cover on the dais. Let us pray for one another," he says, holding his hands upwards as though in supplication. Bill bows, nears the cavern's exit, turns to look in the room one more time, then follows after K'isst and Rond, wearing (perhaps) the silver bracers.
Bill Troublefinder Thursday July 6th, 2000 10:12:12 PM
Running back into the room on his short legs, Bill says, "Oh, Draax, I'm sorry, I forgot to ask you what you want to take! Whatever, just tell us. Okay, see you outside!" He heads back out.
Draax Friday July 7th, 2000 6:04:24 AM
Draax will grab any items or weapons that the others do not take and then depart after the others.
