Milo Sunday October 8th, 2000 7:19:49 PM
Obviously not happy with his surroundings, Milo follows directly behind Dakar, hoping that the attention that the powerful looking dwarf draws to himself as he enters the tavern will detract from him... thus allowing him to go about the business of listening.
K'nara Monday October 9th, 2000 5:59:46 AM
"The mage speaks well." K'nara said, nodding and taking care of the blades. "Olana--get your hood up so that your ears are not so evident." The female fighter straightened up, pursing her lips for a moment.
"We should case the Stinking Hole on the outside and note its exits. Then we should assign at least one person per exit to see that our 'friend' doesn't give us the slip while the bulk of our party is asking about him inside. I think--given the way this City is treating elves--that the most likely people to remain outside keeping the exits under observation are Olana and Ingrge."
Olana Monday October 9th, 2000 11:57:39 AM
Olana pulls up her hood, although keeping it back enough that it won't obscure her vision."I don't mind staying outside. I can take care of myself," she says quietly with a smile, before moving off to explore the outside of the tavern.
DM Jan (The Stinking Hole) Monday October 9th, 2000 12:18:36 PM
On the outside, The Stinking Hole looks to be a squat rectangular building with two storeys. It's entrance is on the main alley where the villains attacked. There are smaller alleys on either side of it.
The RIGHT alley is gated, leading to a smelly, walled yard which - once of a day - could have held stables. The gate is open and was the original hiding place of the villains before they jumped Shad. On that side of the tavern in the yard is a door leading into the interior.
The LEFT alley is dark, equally smelly and runs to a walled dead end. No signs of entry into the tavern on this side. You discover that The Stinking Hole actually backs onto another building, so there's no way to go around the back at all.
The upper storey is fairly low - so much so that someone of Shad's stature, if he took a leap at it - could easily reach the sills of the upper windows with his hands.
There is talk coming from the inside - the usual tavern noises, by all accounts.
The elf shoveller stares after Ingrge as he re-joins the others.
Flueterflam Monday October 9th, 2000 1:36:24 PM
"Well, unless someone objects, I will proceed to go in and sit down. I feel really strange. I think it might just be the change in everyone here is bothering me." Waiting a moment, he goes inside. After stepping through the door, he glances about casually, looking for an empty table. Then he goes to sit down. And, despite not a heavy alcohol abuser, he orders a glass of wine to calm himself. The friendly green giant was really screwing things up. General morale, obsidian, the elves. His brain hurt to think of any other possibilities that he didn't yet know about.
Figment Monday October 9th, 2000 3:36:19 PM
The mage follows K'Nara into the Tavern when she goes. "Food and drink would be a good thing right now. We may not have another chance so we better take it.".
Dakar the Painmonger Tuesday October 10th, 2000 1:42:32 AM
Dakar Trundles into the inn, shooting a glare back at those who look at him oddly. He immediatly heads for the bar and pulls up a stool, asking only for water, or goat's milk if they have any.
Ingrge Tuesday October 10th, 2000 8:39:23 AM
coming around the corner just as the others are about to enter the in, Ingrge Takes a place just to the rear of K'narra and whispers, "so, what was all the fuss? Sorry I missed it, I was hopefully fomenting rebellion."
K'nara Tuesday October 10th, 2000 8:46:52 AM
"Olana, check that out and watch that side of the tavern..." the leader of the Emerald Talons nodded to the right alley, "Ingrge, keep this main door in your sights. We'll go inside and see if we can't flush out our quarry."
Adjusting her own cloak so that she may freely draw her sword should the need arise, K'nara stepped into the Stinking Hole with the others.
"Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open," she quietly ordered the others, "And do not leave the public room without letting me--or, at least, somebody else in our party--know. Same thing goes for anybody who spots our guy." Her hazel eyes swept the interior, trying to ferret out her likeliest avenue of investigation...
Olana Tuesday October 10th, 2000 10:57:09 AM
The elf nods. "A'dos quarth," she mutters while checking her weapons and slipping through the gate into the yard. For a moment she stops there, a puzzled look on her face, before moving toward the door. She will find a place nearby that is unobtrusive, where she can watch comings and goings.
DM Jan (The Stinking Hole) Tuesday October 10th, 2000 11:24:25 AM
A strange thing - those who may have heard Olana and were familiar with a certain accursed elf language could have sworn she said "at your command" in Drow.
While all remains quiet outside for the moment, those who step into the Stinking Hole Inn are pleasantly surprised to find the interior homely and clean, with a delicious smell of food wafting from the kitchen.
The huge man behind the bar grunts at Dakar but gives him a metal cup of water before going on to pour 5 tankards of beer which he slams down at one end of the bar - right below a NO ELVES SERVED HERE sign. The place is moderately busy but there's room to sit down. Most of the patrons are huddled around tables talking quietly to one another, in between quaffing their ale and slurping at huge bowls of soup. Fluet is approached by a serving girl with mousy, mussed hair and who's clothes have definitely seen better days. Then - right in the middle of taking his order, the man behind the bar bellows beligerantly, "Cherry! Get over here - your order's ready!" The girl scurries over to the bar. "And you!" exclaims the man, pointing at K'Nara, more specifically at her sword. "We'll be having no trouble here, pretty girl or not!" Other patrons turn and stare for a moment, looking at the new customers. "And don't be bringing no bloody elves in here either," he adds, wiping the bar and glowering at the rest of the party. "Now - what can I get all of you?"
Figment Tuesday October 10th, 2000 11:52:59 AM
The mage nods at the barkeep. "I'll have an Ale and whatever your serving for food.". He then travels over to an empty table and occupies it for the group. Boy, this is going to be interesting.
Dakar the Painmonger Tuesday October 10th, 2000 12:02:30 PM
"I've ordered already, but apparently you feel that I am a lesser citizen? Or that my order makes me not the warrior that you are?" says the dwarf, a challenging sneer on his face as he stares the barkeep down with cold eyes.
Milo d100=86 d100=96 Tuesday October 10th, 2000 2:58:35 PM
Attempting to be sneaky, Milo trips on a loose floor board as he enters the tavern, sprawling across the floor. Recovering quickly, the halfling stands up, brushes himself off, and slinks over to the table where Figment is sitting... When the serving woman comes around he meekly orders an ale, and sits looking everywhere, yet nowhere all at the same time.
Ingrge Tuesday October 10th, 2000 7:48:44 PM
Nodding his head at K'narra's order, Ingrge starts walking into the inn just as the bartender makes his anti-elf proclamation. Looking back to K'narra he quickly finds a bench or chair near the door and sits down.
Shadrach Tuesday October 10th, 2000 9:37:26 PM
Shad spent a few extra minutes in the alley toning down his wardrobe. When he looked like just another workman, instead of a rich merchant looking to get mugged, he tromped into the Hole and sat down next to the dwarf without looking at him.
K'nara d20=6 d20=1 Wednesday October 11th, 2000 7:31:58 AM
K'nara nodded to Shad's adjustment of appearance before turning wide, ingenuous hazel eyes to the barkeeper.
"Trouble? Me? Perish the thought!" she said in a breathy voice that reeked of feminine helplessness. "I have to dress like this and lug this awful, heavy ol' thing around--" here she tapped the still-sheathed sword at her back, "--simply because my Pa doesn't like to think of me at the mercy of fiends and leches. A girl's gotta protect herself from maulers, you know!" (OOC: made a voluntary Charisma check by 9.)
"I'll have the house ale, though, if you please." the chesnut-haired female fighter added. She took a seat at the bar itself, scanning the room for anyone who may possibly look like they may be the person the Tines sent the Talons to come meet while waiting for the bartender to fill her own order. (OOC: Booyah! Aced the Perception check.)
Olana Wednesday October 11th, 2000 10:32:52 AM
The elf kept to the shadows outside, her eyes flitting between the door, the gate and the alley beyond it. Resorting to breathing through her mouth and not her nose, she waited, a slight frown on her face, and a dagger in her hand.
DM Jan (The Stinking Hole) Wednesday October 11th, 2000 11:04:16 AM
Outside, it starts to rain again.
Inside, the gruff barman taps a pudgy finger on the bar top in front of Dakar. "You're only a lesser citizen if you have pointy ears. Your water's there. And we don't serve baby milk here." He starts pouring the drink orders, while bellowing at the serving maid. "Man over there want's food," he growls, gesturing toward the table Figment commandeered. "See to it."
The other patrons appear to be going back to their business although Milo notices one or two of them appear to be eyeing up Fluet and Figment as possible marks.
The serving girl approaches the table after rolling her eyes toward the barman out of his sight. "My name's Cherry," she says. "We have vegetable soup, roast pork or roast beef with potatoes and carrots. What'll it be?"
The barman's attitude softens considerably toward K'Nara and he leans toward her, resting on arms like hams. "I'll get you your ale darlin'. And don't you worry. You're safe enough in here. No one messes with me." After a lecherous look that seems to crawl all over her, he looks toward Shad - all businesslike. "What can I get you?" he asks. For the moment, he seems distracted enough not to have noticed Ingrge by the door.
Figment d20=13 d20=3 Wednesday October 11th, 2000 2:41:09 PM
The mage makes sure his wand in showing in a non-chalant sort of way. He nods to the barkeep and waits for his food. He begins to look around the place, carefully eyeing the occupants and the room (Int). He says nothing and uses a blank look, showing no emotion whatsoever (Cha).
Dakar Wednesday October 11th, 2000 5:17:40 PM
Dakar sips from the glass, keeping up his moastic oath to never imbibe in alcohol of any sort, lest it create impurities in his blood and brain. He calls Cherry over when the other have ordered and asks for a large bowl of the vegetable soup and a loaf of bread, with whatever cheeses they have in stock.
Milo Wednesday October 11th, 2000 6:00:12 PM
Looking up at Cherry, Milo smiles and winks, "I'll have the roast beef and so on.. and another ale." Then speaking so only Figment can hear him, "Careful friend, the room has its eyes upon you." The halfling proceeds to quietly describe the appearance and location of each patron who sized up Figment or Fluet, all the while, never taking his gaze off of his mug.
Flueterflam d20=12 Wednesday October 11th, 2000 6:36:56 PM
Fluet sits comfortably, noting Milo's concern. But, doesn't mind much. When Cherry comes by, "Hi Cherry. My name's Fluet." He takes a moment to consider his next words. "Your boss seems a little harsh." He keeps thinking of things that relate to his youth when he lived in Emerald Kingdom, legally. But then he knows he can't just announce their situation. "Umm...yeah...What do ya do after work? Could we talk when you get off?" The bard acts very sincere, no implications. In fact, he just wants to try getting information out of her. (passed CHR check by 6)
Shadrach Wednesday October 11th, 2000 7:47:03 PM
"Ale." Shad huddled onto his stool like a man who habitually has a drop or two before going home. He sniffed at the pungent smell of dinner and wondered if eating here would be within his role.
Ingrge Wednesday October 11th, 2000 8:02:22 PM
Sitting by the door, Ingrge tries to be as in conspicuous as possible but remains alert and listening to the nearest table for anything that might be of interest. If Cherry comes by He will see if he can slip her an extra tip for a little something to eat and drink, if it seems she won't get into trouble.
K'nara d20=1 d20=2 Thursday October 12th, 2000 8:05:32 AM
Recalling that their contact's name was supposed to be Cherry, K'nara took up the ale served her and told the bartender: "Why, thank you so much! I feel safer already..!" Then she scurried off to join Figment at his table.
"You've made contact? What did she say..?" the human bladesinger asked the mage.
Olana Thursday October 12th, 2000 10:44:31 AM
As the rain starts, Olana frowns - pushing herself closer to the wall in the stinky yard, which hopefully will offer some shelter. Life could be exciting with the Talons, and occasionally it could be downright unpleasant.
DM Jan (The Stinking Hole) Thursday October 12th, 2000 11:06:55 AM
Figment's examination of his fellow patrons reveals a potentially motley bunch of rogues and villians. Then again - some of them could be honest, hard-working folks having a tankard of ale before they went home. There's a definite air of poverty amongst them all however.
The barman leers at K'Nara's behind as she moves towards the table, and decides to share an extremely off colour joke with Shad and Dakar at the bar, whom he figures will appreciate it.
Cherry takes Figment's, Milo's and Dakar's order. After jotting down Fluet's order she pauses for a moment at his request. Glancing around she says quietly, "Well if you're prepared to wait three hours. You can talk to me when I've got your orders in, providing it doesn't annoy old 'bull brains' back there, but I can't leave the tavern yet for a while."
She then see's Ingrge by the door, his race registering in her eyes, which take on an apprehensive look. With a glance at the barman, who's in the middle of some elaborate tale by the looks of it, she heads towards him hopefully to ward off any potential trouble.
Figment Thursday October 12th, 2000 12:42:06 PM
The mage winks at Cherry when she takes his order "I was told I might find someone named Cherry here. Alemi's priestess sends you greetings.". When K'Nara comes over to the table he whispers "She hasn't said anything yet. Let's be patient.".
Shadrach Thursday October 12th, 2000 5:21:08 PM
His eyes glittered dangerously at the bartender's jest, but Shad held it in. He promptly launched into a diatribe about all the horrible things his woman had done to him. Despite that he loved her and Shad became graphic with the things he'd like to do to the men who trifled with her.
Dakar the Painmonger Thursday October 12th, 2000 6:47:55 PM
Dakar moves to sit with the rest of his group, signalling that Chery should bring his food over to the table, rather than serving him at the bar.
"How goes the search?" says the Dwarf... he appears to be tired, almost exhausted by the rigors of travel.
Flueterflam -- Mighty Bard extraordinaire d20=15 Thursday October 12th, 2000 9:46:45 PM
Fluet decides that while waiting for possibly 3 hours, he will play a tune. "Hey Barkeep!! Mind if I play?" Before a response can be given, the bard plucks away at his lute, adding in lyrics where appropriate. (voluntary CHR passed by 3)
Milo d100=67 Thursday October 12th, 2000 11:11:29 PM
As Milo eats, he very neatly places half of everything on his plate into a clean handkerchief which he pulls from his satchel. Tying up the ends into a lunch as it were, Milo looks over to K'nara, and speaks in hushed tones,"I'm going to have a breath and commune with the watchful eye." The halfling winks, and after dropping a couple of silvers on the table, he gets up and walks outside of The Stinking Hole. Walking up to where Olana is keeping watch, the halfling smiles from under his hood as it begins to drip with the rain, "I brought you something warm from inside... Its not the best... well... um... at least its warm." A bit more quietly... "We found our contact... but it'll be about three hours 'fore she can talk with us... I thought I'd come out and keep you company in the mean while." And with that, Milo slips into the nearest shadow next to Olana as best he can, and quietly proceeds to talk her ear off... He tells her all about his life before joining up with the Emerald Talons.
K'nara Friday October 13th, 2000 5:49:54 AM
K'nara nodded to the mage, sipping her ale--then almost choked on the brew when her eyes followed Cherry's intended interception of...
INGRGE??? What the hell is with that elf??? the leader of the Talons gulped air and coughed as she thought to herself. I *said* for him to wait outside and watch the door! If he gets murdered by one of these louts in here, I'm gonna KILL him!!!
Olana Friday October 13th, 2000 3:16:13 PM
Olana takes the food from Milo gratefully, munching and nodding as he goes into his tale. "Ever thought about investigating what happened to your father?" she asks, licking her fingers. Then, with a sigh she adds, "And by the way - if I've seemed a bit weird lately, I'm sorry. I can't explain it. I just keep getting strange thoughts in my head. I don't know where they're coming from."
DM Jan (The Stinking Hole) Friday October 13th, 2000 3:31:55 PM
"Er... yeah, yeah," says the barman, blinking at Shad's outburst, before surreptitiously sneaking back to clean his glasses and tankards. Another lass brings food out to the tables. Cherry stops in her tracks after hearing what Figment says, and turns to look at him - questions written on her face. As Fluet starts a song, there's a general groan from the patrons, although after a few bars they seem to settle down a bit. At least no one throws anything. The fact that there's an elf on the premises, is pushed to one side for a moment as Cherry glances toward the barman (thankfully appearing busy at the moment), and then moves back over to the table, looking at all those sat there. "A priestess?" she whispers.
Ingrge Saturday October 14th, 2000 2:07:39 PM
Sits for a moment as Cherry heads his way and then as she is distracted and forgets him for a moment, Ingrge steps back outside and approaches Olanna's position.
"You Know, for someone pulling sentry duty, you are awfully noisy, and what was it with the speaking of the cursed ones tongue?"
Figment Monday October 16th, 2000 11:51:42 AM
The mage smiles and reveals a small section of his scarf to her. He continues to speak softly so the bar maid is the only one who can hear. "Yes, I met her in a city not far from here. Lorna was her name. She was very complimentary of you. In fact, she said you could help us - and us you. We can speak later if you wish - or not at all if you do not know that of which I speak.".
Shadrach Monday October 16th, 2000 4:24:08 PM
Shad broke down and ordered beef and veggies. He stayed at the bar for the time and watched the room absently.
Olana Monday October 16th, 2000 7:10:24 PM
"Yes well - we're having a real party here," says Olana to Ingrge before glancing up into the rain and rolling her eyes at Milo. She passes Ingrge what's left of the wrapped food. "There's two ribs left and some vegetables," she says before looking somewhat puzzled. "Accursed language? I don't know what you mean," she adds, smiling sweetly.
DM Jan (The Stinking Hole) Monday October 16th, 2000 7:16:31 PM
A huge platter of beef surrounded by roast potatoes gets plonked on the bar in front of Shadrach. His glance around the place reveals nothing other than patrons getting on with their own business, some of whom having shifted their chairs around, enabling them to watch Fluet play and sing. Over by the table, Cherry affects an air of nonchalance, but seems to be looking at each of the party in turn. When she speaks, she keeps her voice down. "So er, where have I seen you people before," she asks. "The Tine and Talon - or the Glass Bottle?" Outside - it stops raining.
Ingrge Monday October 16th, 2000 7:48:45 PM
Looking down at Olanna, Ingrge makes sure he can see the front door of the inn, takes a rib from Olanna and with a gutteral grumble utters in Drow. " Yo das, A'dos Quarth." ( "You said, I hear and Obey") As he finishes speaking, almost as if the words left a bad taste in his mouth, He quickly takes a large bite of the meaty rib.
Milo Tuesday October 17th, 2000 2:46:38 AM
"Goodness the rain has given us some respite after all," Milo proceeds to remove his cloak, and nodding at Olana, he turns a curious eye to Ingrge, and wringing out his cloak, "What does it matter which language she used? P'rhaps if folks don't think she's too friendly with her own kind they'll give her a bit of leeway... Either way... words are words... whether you speak them in elvish, or the common tongue. Forget the package that the message is wrapped in, and consider the message itself... much as you would the content of her character, I'd say." With that the halfling smiles and drapes his freshly wrung cloak about his diminutive shoulders.
K'nara Tuesday October 17th, 2000 7:57:19 AM
Without missing a beat, K'nara said:
"The Tine and Talon, obviously--it's the ONLY place for a fair big helping of just desserts." She went on to pick up Shad's fork and spear one of the pieces of potato from his plate, eating it with the ease of a well-known comrade.
"Say, this is good--you should get yourself some of this stuff!" she told the bonze after swallowing most of her mouthful.
Figment Tuesday October 17th, 2000 8:02:13 AM
The mage smiles at Cherry's cloak and daggaresque question. He responds and again keeps his voice down. "Why, the Tine and Talon of course. Wonderful establishment that. Seems like the health of many is being restored as a result of their business. I think much more good could come of it with the proper information and direction...".
Olana Tuesday October 17th, 2000 11:03:18 AM
The elf looks puzzled for a moment. "I know what you said, but I don't know how. Maybe it was something I picked up from a comrade a while ago - you know, these things just 'pop' into your head don't they," she says, then giving Ingrge a smug smile and nodding at Milo's suggestions. "What's happening inside, Milo?" she adds, rapidly changing the subject.
DM Jan (The Stinking Hole) Tuesday October 17th, 2000 11:19:27 AM
Outside - Ingrge notices a tall, dark figure entering the gloom of the alley on foot, at a fast, confident pace. The figure heads for the door of the Inn and disappears inside. Inside - nodding to herself and biting her lip nervously, Cherry crouches at the table, pretending to write an order, but whispers furiously. "We've got trouble. We lost track of the escapee. We 'think' that Osidi -" She's stopped in her tracks as someone enters the Inn. It's a man - tall - covered from head to foot in black, his face veiled and only his eyes visible. He's armed with what looks like a long curved sword tucked in a plain black scabbard. The rear of his tunic is pleated, swirling a little behind him as he walks. The patrons hush and appear to begin a study of the bottom of their glasses. The bar man appears to turn a nice shade of gray and starts bellowing for his serving girls, Cherry included. "What'll it be Sir - your usual?" he asks with a newly acquired deference. The dark clad man nods and leans on the bar, avoiding eye contact with anyone. Moments later - Cherry and the other girl appear from the kitchen with a basket and a tureen, handing them both to the man along with a curtsey. The man nods silently, takes the handles of the basket and the tureen, and leaves. He hasn't said a word.
Figment Tuesday October 17th, 2000 12:09:24 PM
The mage studies his drink when the dark clad figure walks in. He does not react as Cherry leaves. He waits quietly for her to return at her own pace.
Shadrach Tuesday October 17th, 2000 1:44:08 PM
Shad gave K'Nara a hurt look. To the bartender, he shrugged. Picking up his plate, he went over and sat down at the others' table. When the Man in Black came in, Shad forgot to be sneaky and stared at him curiously. After he left, Shad glanced at the waitresses and said, "'Ey, I didn't know you did take out!"
Milo d100=12 d100=57 Tuesday October 17th, 2000 5:42:01 PM
Watching the man enter the Stinking Hole, Milo nods in acknowledgement to Olana, and slips quietly in behind the dark cloaked stranger... After witnessing the scene, the halfling looks across the room and locks eyes with with K'nara for just a moment. He has a look on his face never witnessed by his friends... that of studied calm, and determination... And then, as quietly as he entered, he slips out the door quiet as a mouse in pursuit. Ducking back into the alley with Olana and Ingrge... for just a moment, Milo looks to the pair, whispering, "I'm going to follow that man... hopefully, I'll be back soon... Care to join me?" Milo seems to be handling something small in his hand... a glint of liquid silver catches the light for a moment... And then, without waiting for a response... the halfling is off... ducking from shadow to shadow... keeping the man in view, but keeping a goodly distance as well...
Ingrge Tuesday October 17th, 2000 8:38:48 PM
Looking down at Olanna, Ingrge shrugs his head and says " As you wish. Though we both know that language is not something casually used around friends." As he finishes, he spots the dark stranger and and watches as he enters followed closely behind by Milo. As Milo returns and drops his little bomb in their laps Ingrge digs into his pack and removes a waterproofed wrapped package and leaving all else but the bandolier of daggers and his other daggers, with Olanna and signaling for her to remain on guard, steps into the night becoming just another bonded elf servant on a late delivery for his master. Ingrge shuffles along the other side of the street, from The Dark man and his shadow, keeping them insight but making sure to walk in the gutter of the road and not make eye contact with any other of the souls that are out and about.
Dakar the Painmonger Tuesday October 17th, 2000 10:19:22 PM
The dwarf looks a bit startled and confused for a moment. "For Domi's sake, where I come from we'd kill him where he stands."
K'nara Wednesday October 18th, 2000 6:02:47 AM
The man in black was obviously Obsidian, and Cherry's information gave K'nara an idea.
"You, Shad, Dakar and Fluet stay here," she whispered to Figment, "Get whatever information you can. I'll try to keep tabs on the 'phantom diner' who was just here...hopefully with Milo's help...I'll come back for you all as soon as possible." With this, the leader of the Tines hastily slipped out the door of the tavern.
"Olana..? Milo..?" K'nara looked around for the lookouts that were supposed to have been outside, seeing neither of them--nor did she see... "Ingrge??? Damnation, I'm gonna kick that elf's butt myself if he isn't in one piece!"
Olana Wednesday October 18th, 2000 11:09:07 AM
Olana pops her head around the yard gate and gestures down the street. "They went that way," she says to K'Nara. "I presume we're gonna follow for some reason?" With that, she moves out into the alley, following the human warrior, a puzzled frown still etched on her face after listening to Ingrge.
DM Jan (Back on the Streets?) Wednesday October 18th, 2000 11:26:24 AM
Inside - as soon as the man has left, there is an upsurge of voices as everyone in the room seems to have something to say about the dark-clad stranger. "Take out? Take out?" The barman explodes and starts bellowing about the injustice of having to feed people for free, pounding his fist on the bar and snapping at his serving girls to get busy and take care of the patrons. Cherry sweeps past the table. "They've got him," she whispers urgently, glancing at the door. "But we don't know where." Outside - the man walks at a fast pace up the alley and takes a left out onto the street, and then, shortly after that - a right. The streets are slick and wet, and the mid-evening air is chilly. There's a few people out and about - but not many.
Figment Wednesday October 18th, 2000 2:39:23 PM
The mage frowns at the revelation from Cherry. He whispers "For how long have they had him?".

Milo continues to follow the man in black, moving without a sound as he turns the corner. As Milo follows, he is still taking great care to stay just far enough away that he won't be noticed... yet close enough to keep on the man's tail. (OOC: Move Silently check looks good)
Dakar Wednesday October 18th, 2000 7:34:34 PM
"Is it possible he is in the prison as well now? Or are those who wear black headquartered elsewhere?" states the dwarf, in a quick, brusque tone.
Flueterflam Thursday October 19th, 2000 12:18:36 AM

K'nara Thursday October 19th, 2000 5:46:26 AM
The leader of the Emerald Talons nodded to Olana.
"He fits the description of Obsidian," she said softly to the ranger as they trailed Ingrge, who was trailing Milo, who was, himself, following the figure in black with the "take out" order, "Our contact says they lost track of the guy we have to talk to--the Tines here figure Obsidian may have nabbed him already."
Ingrge Thursday October 19th, 2000 8:02:40 AM
Every now and again Ingrge pauses looks up at a building as if to see where he is and then shaking his head continues on following.
Olana Thursday October 19th, 2000 10:36:46 AM
The elf nods, and pulls up her hood, wondering what the price is for an elf to be discovered wandering about untagged. As they move along, she keeps a good lookout for anything she might have to avoid.
Dakar Thursday October 19th, 2000 12:19:08 PM
The dwarf trudges over to Flueterflam. "Where did everyone go? One moment a man in black comes in... the next they've disappeared... astounding. Reckless, entirely reckless."
DM Jan (Stinking Hole and out on the Streets) Thursday October 19th, 2000 1:02:22 PM
Inside - Cherry estimates that the escapee dropped out of site about two days ago. "We have a look-out at the prison - so we know he's not back there. That's all we know." Frowning, she adds - "I noticed your friend leave - if she's gone after that man then you better get after and warn her. They're VERY dangerous."
Outside - the man with the munchies suddenly turns into a doorway on the left hand side of the street, puts down the tureen and seems to be fumbling with something for a moment. Then a crack of light appears beyond the door, which opens to admit him. He then enters, and closes it behind him, disappearing from site.
Shadrach Thursday October 19th, 2000 2:03:36 PM
Shad looked at Dakar. "She knows." To Cherry, "Do you know where these black men go when they're not terrorizing folk?"
Milo d100=15 d100=56 d20=1 Thursday October 19th, 2000 2:28:45 PM
Moving as silently as ever (15% on MS roll) Milo approaches the building that the man in black entered, examining the structure as thoroughly as possible from the outside. Then, stepping up to the door, he listens carefully (Oops 56% fails the DN roll) and not hearing a thing, silently curses the thickness of the door. Walking to the corner of the structure, the halfling pulls a piece of green chalk from his satchel, and makes a small mark on the cornerstone... a mark that resembles a talon. Then turning, he looks back the way he came to see if anyone, including his friends, is following him... (Aced my perception with a 1)
Ingrge Thursday October 19th, 2000 7:42:21 PM
Seeing where the man enters, Ingrge passes by that door going to the next building. Walking up to that door, he tentitively knocks on the door and then steps back out of the doorway. Holding the package in front of him he waits for someone to answer the door.
K'nara d20=8 Friday October 20th, 2000 6:23:03 AM
K'nara saw the figure in black stop and noted the hesitation before he was admitted to the building he stopped at.
"Keep an eye on things here, but keep out of sight," she ordered Olana, "If you can get to Milo and Ingrge, let them know that they can try to case the joint--you know, look the premises over?--but only from the OUTside...nobody goes in until I return with the others. Got that?" The woman warrior waited until the elven ranger acknowledged her command before beating hasty feet back to the Stinking Hole to get the others and lead them back here. (OOC: made a voluntary Perception check by 1.)
Figment Friday October 20th, 2000 11:13:13 AM
smiles at Cherry's warning. "It would appear we must find this guy, and the only apparent way I see is to scope these guys out. Otherwise it may take us too long to get things done - something that would not play in our favour. Don't worry about the warrior woman. It is him I would be more worried about - but we appreciate your warning and concern for sure. Let's see what she finds out. Then we'll act.".
Olana Friday October 20th, 2000 11:57:49 AM
The elf nods at K'Nara. Walking up the street, keeping to the shadows, she passes Milo, on his way back. "K'Nara's bringing the others," she mumbles, body language not acknowledging that she knows him. She then moves past the house toward Ingrge. "We must wait," she says in another whisper, before moving past and a little further up the street. There she looks for a hiding place in the gloom where she can see.
DM Jan (The Hole and the Street) Friday October 20th, 2000 12:18:25 PM
Inside - Cherry slips away to serve more tables but returns as soon as she is able, nodding at what Figment has to say and puzzling over Shad's question. "They have places all over. In fact there's one just round the co- " She is interrupted by another patron yelling an order, and leaves for the bar. With eyes flitting like a butterfly, one of the other patrons seems to be weighing up the value of Fluets purse against the bite of his dwarven collegue's axe.
Outside - Ingrge gets no reply to his knock on the door. The building he chose looks closed up for the night - a commercial dwelling perhaps rather than a house. Milo can also see that the building he's chosen to examine looks more like a small warehouse than a home. It's a two storey, like it's neighbour - with windows on the upper floor. The windows on this building are all shuttered however. There's the door onto the street - and one around the back that looks fortified. Although he can't hear anything coming from the interior - he notices a strange feature on the front door - a flat black plate with some kind of inset which bears the shape of a square with mitered corners. K'Nara makes it back to the Inn - although not before encountering two men stumbling down the street. "How about it, darlin'?" one of them calls, giving her a cheeky grin.
Figment Friday October 20th, 2000 3:13:38 PM
The mage eats whatever is left of his meal in anticiaption of K'Nara's return. He saves some of his drink to wash it all down. When finished he simply waits with the others for her return - and to see if Cherry has anything else she needs to say. When she somes back by, he asks here one last question. "If we find him, where should we take him? And where should we meet up with your group after we have what we need?".
Milo d100=12 Friday October 20th, 2000 7:24:13 PM
Approaching the door again, with utmost care, Milo carefully examines the portal for traps, mechanical or magical, paying special attention to the flat black plate, but not neglecting any part of the door, or its frame. (OOC: Rolled 12%, which is less than a quarter of what I need. Should have found either if they are present) Once his assessment is complete, he moves back to his waiting position in the shadows at the corner of the warehouse.
Ingrge Friday October 20th, 2000 7:49:22 PM
Looking around Ingrge looks for a likely close door that might appear to have someone up or at least some one at home. If he finds one he will head to that door and Knock again.
Flueterflam Saturday October 21st, 2000 3:19:34 AM
"Huh...?" Fluet jumps a little out of his short nap. He looks around tiredly acting a little confused. "oh, must've been a dream." With that,, the bard crosses his arms and keeps his eyes barely open while he thinks about what's going on.
Dakar Saturday October 21st, 2000 2:12:26 PM
The dwarf mutters to the bard, " The group went after the soldier in black, an almost fatal error I'm sure. I stayed here because I noticed them too lat, an ignorant move on my part."
Shadrach Saturday October 21st, 2000 10:27:10 PM
He muttered to Dakar,"You're not very good at sneaking anyway."
Flueterflam Sunday October 22nd, 2000 9:58:04 PM
"Hehehe..." Fluet snickers at Shad's comment. "So, what now?" the bard asks groggily.
K'nara d20=9 d20=4 Monday October 23rd, 2000 6:35:06 AM
The female fighter rolled her hazel eyes at being accosted by the two men. She sized them up, feeling fairly sure that she could just kick their butts and go on to get the rest of the Talons at the Stinking Hole, but some pinprick of wisdom urged her to override that impulse--she needed the whole group over at that warehouse as soon as possible. (OOC: made a Wisdom check by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin!)
"Oh, my, the people here in the big city sure are friendly!" K'nara said in her best "girl from the boonies" accent. "D'ya think you have the time to let me buy you a drink from..." Here she pretended to look around, "...that there tavern..?" She squinted as though reading the sign was almost beyond her intelligence. "Theeeee...Stiiiiinkinnnnn...Hoooool?" Then the human bladesinger smiled again, starting to sashay towards the tavern in question.
Olana Monday October 23rd, 2000 10:29:03 AM
Olana settles in a doorway, watching Milo re-check the door, and Ingrge wandering along knocking on other doors along the street. She had no idea what was going to happen next, but while wondering what her fellow elf was up to, she runs a mental check of all her weapons.
DM Jan (The Hole and The Street) Monday October 23rd, 2000 10:42:33 AM
Inside - "Heated Cross by the river," whispers Cherry to Fluet, Figment, Dakar and Shad, before scurrying off to another table. "Oy!" shouts one of the patrons to Fluet. "Gonna sing another song?"
Outside - One of the two men "chatting up" K'Nara laughs aloud. "You'd have to pay US to go in there, love. You be careful now." With that they both stagger off down the street toward the centre of the City. K'Nara makes it back to the Inn without further ado. Milo's further examination of the door reveals no traps, and the only assumption that he can make about the plate - is that it might be some kind of lock mechanism, although the key would have to be a strange, vaguely oblong shape. About 5 doors down, Ingrge gets an answer to his knock on a door on the corner of a ramshackle building. An old man, bearing a lit candle stick answers the door. "Whaddya wan'?" he asks looking somewhat bewildered.
Dakar Monday October 23rd, 2000 12:04:40 PM
The stout dwarf turns to Shadrach. "This is true. I do tend to jingle a bit too much. But I generally rely on silencing my enemies by filling their tongues with steel." The painmonger smiles adn acknowledges Cherry's suggestion. "I Still think we should wait here for the rest to return."
Figment Monday October 23rd, 2000 2:44:48 PM
"And wait we shall my noisy but effective friend. We have no idea where to go until we hear back from the warrior woman anyway - but I'd say we'd better wrap it up.". The mage pulls out payment for the food with a healthy tip for Cherry and the barkeep.
Ingrge Monday October 23rd, 2000 8:08:01 PM
Oh , thank you kind sir for opening the door on such a late evening, but my master said i was to take this package to the address just 5 doors down (pointing) and though I've knocked there is no answer. Can you tell me what the name of the person or persons who live there and whether they still do or if by chance they have moved?
Shadrach Monday October 23rd, 2000 8:51:22 PM
"Well, we're not supposed to go there til afterward, anyway. In MY opinion," Shad pulled out money for his food, "it's the singing that throws off the whole stealth attempt."
Milo d20=16 d100=4 Monday October 23rd, 2000 9:31:26 PM
Returning to his post... Milo looks up and down the street... Tries to see and hear what Ingrge is doing and saying, but to no avail. Looking over to where Olana is, he catches her eye before smiling and waving, and then before her very eyes, the halfling appears to become one with the shadow next to the building. (OOC: Check out my Hide in Shadows roll... 04... whoo hoo!) He sits, and patiently awaits the cavalry.
K'nara Tuesday October 24th, 2000 5:58:29 AM
Smirking, K'nara re-entered the Stinking Hole and made her way to Shadrach as he was paying for his food.
"We must join the others." she said firmly, then produced the coinage for the ale she'd drank and added it to Shad's payment. She crooked a finger to Fluet and gave the high sign to Figment and Dakar, glancing pointedly at the exit. Then the human bladesinger walked out to await the others, that she may lead them to the warehouse they suspected of being Obsidian's hiding place.
Olana Tuesday October 24th, 2000 10:46:56 AM
Olana nodded slightly to Milo, and gave herself a smile as he seemed to blend in with the gloom. Then she went back to keeping an eye on Ingrge, just in case there was any trouble.
DM Jan (The Hole and The Streets) Tuesday October 24th, 2000 11:00:40 AM
Inside - the beligerence of the bar tender disappears as he sees the size of Figment's tip, and he becomes fairly effusive with his "thank you Sirs". "Good luck," mutters Cherry quietly, as K'Nara gathers the others to leave.
Outside - as Milo and Olana keep watch, it begins to drizzle rain again. All is quiet except for what's going on at an open door a little up the street. The man at the door peers at Ingrge. "That's Obsidian," he hisses before firing a huge wad of spittle at the ground between them. Peering beyond Ingrge out of the door, he then continues - "And you tell them. You tell them to stop their racket. Can't hear it up here - but I live in the basement, and I can hear it down there. All manner o' howling. You tell 'em someone's trying to get some sleep." But then he adds, "Don't tell 'em I said so though - oh no - not me," and with that he steps back and slams the door.
Daka rthe painmonger Tuesday October 24th, 2000 11:25:08 AM
Hefting his axe to a shoulder with a smile, Dakar wastes no time in moving to the exit with K'nara. "So, wasn't sneaky enough before but now ye NEED the Dwarf do ye? Well, we'll see who's first to be brought next time."
Shadrach Tuesday October 24th, 2000 2:48:08 PM
He rose eagerly, ready to finish the task they'd come for and stop all the sneaking. Shad chuckled and said, "No problem! You go in the front, singing and clanging, and I'll be behind you all the way!"
Figment d20=15 Tuesday October 24th, 2000 6:14:44 PM
The mage smiles at the barkeep and offers "Don't worry, my friend, things are not always so dark as they seem. Good evening.". After he exits with the others the mage says to K'Nara "The dark ones have had our man 2 1/2 days. He has not been seen for since so I suspect they have him hidden somewhere close (Int). The network would have seen him if they had taken him across the city. I would say your quarry may know his location. We are to take him to "Heated Cross by the river" when we have him - whereever that is.". After he gives the info to K'Nara he falls into step and prepares for action.
Ingrge Tuesday October 24th, 2000 6:59:43 PM
nodding and bobbing his head as the gentleman spews his tirade, Ingrge tries to get a word in edgewise and is unable until right at the end. And then just as he is about to speak the man shuts the door in his face. With a slight grin, he saunters over to where Olanna waits and squats down. I suppose you have orders for us AND me to stay here and Wait?
Flueterflam d20=2 Tuesday October 24th, 2000 10:38:05 PM
Fluet tries to think if the "Heated Cross by the river" rings a bell. (made int by a mile) While he tries to think he gets up and follows the others. As he walks out the door, "sing your own self a song."
Milo Tuesday October 24th, 2000 11:53:24 PM
Resting up against the side of the warehouse, concealed in the shadows, Milo considers his options in this conflict. Ultimately, considering the strength of the warriors in his group, the halfling makes sure that the vial he is handling is tightly sealed before carefully wrapping it within his clothes in his pack. Slowly drawing his short sword from its scabbard Milo examines the blade in the dark thoughtfully.
K'nara d20=3 Wednesday October 25th, 2000 6:59:49 AM
K'nara had to smile at the dwarf's grousing and Shadrach's comment regarding it.
"Let's see if you can be swift and silent now, eh, Dakar?" she said. "Follow me--this way..." The warrior woman's hazel eyes flickered at the mention of the Heated Cross.
"I...know the place." she told Figment with a nod as she led the others to the street she'd last seen the other half of the Emerald Talons. "It should be fairly secure...as long as we get our man over there in one piece." Once there, the female fighter's gaze swept the street and saw Olana and Ingrge off to one side. Quickly she joined them.
"Where's Milo?" she asked in a low voice, not readily seeing the little rogue. "And has anyone spotted the best way to sneak into that place..?"
Olana Wednesday October 25th, 2000 11:22:51 AM
Olana gives Ingrge a wry grin. "Yeah we all gotta 'follow orders'," she mutters with uncharacteristic sarcasm. When the others arrive and K'Nara ask about Milo, Olana points to where she last saw him. "As for getting in, it looks pretty secure to me - although Milo had a better look."
DM Jan (Out on the Street) Wednesday October 25th, 2000 11:40:01 AM
The drizzling rain stops as the party is reunited a little distance away from the dark, sturdy building. The building itself seems very secure and unpenetrable - unless of course someone has a key? (As for the Heated Cross Inn - both K'Nara and Fluet remember the place - they went there after being summoned by Parnoth, right before "Modo the Hunchback" led everyone to meet with the Tines. It's a few blocks north east, near the river.)
Ingrge d20=13 Wednesday October 25th, 2000 6:19:20 PM
Well It is a definite confirmation that the Obsidion are in that Building and from what their neighbor says there is a good deal of inquisition happening in the basement. Lots of screaming and cursing etc. (made Int roll by three) When I looked at the door I noticed a strange looking keyhole, type, mechanism that seems to need a specially shaped key. I was thinking I had seen the shape before and seeing our fearless leader arrive jogged my memory. Its just a guess mind you, but K'narra, Do you dtill have that stone we were given? If so, May I see it? If shown the stone Ingrge will make a comparison to see if they seem to be compatible.
Shadrach Wednesday October 25th, 2000 8:01:36 PM
Shad stroked his chin. "The waitress said that there are lots of those little Obsidian boltholes in the city. We can bust in, look for maps or info, maybe grab one Obsidian and take off before the others react. I'll bet gold there's magical alarms in those places. Remember how much Parnath likes to keep tabs on his employees?" Shad seemed bitter.
Dakar Thursday October 26th, 2000 3:09:01 AM
"Heh... unlocking a lock with a rock? That's the most ridiculous thing I've seen by Domi's beard..." The dwarf shakes his head. "Next thing they'll be halfling wizards and gnome paladins running around."
K'nara Thursday October 26th, 2000 5:56:48 AM
Blinking, K'nara rummaged through her belt pouch and found the stone that she had accepted from the young elves the Talons had encountered on their way to Emerald City.
"Here..." she handed the beveled piece to Ingrge and eyed the elf as he examined it, "...do you think it will do the trick?"
Figment Thursday October 26th, 2000 8:46:07 AM
The mage smiles at Ingrge's insight. "Well done, my friend. It might actually work. I would say based on your information that our quarry may be in there as he has not been seen since his detainment. Looks to me that this is about as good a time as any to get this done. Dark, cold, and rainy. Fewer people out and plently of noise to conceal any we might make.". The mage stands ready for the assault. He prepares to cast.
Flueterflam Thursday October 26th, 2000 8:48:15 AM
The bard becommes impatient. Just standing around, not quite sure where to go and what to do next. "Are you sure Shad? From what everyone seems to think, it won't be that easy getting in. Although, maybe we'll be lucky and they'll turn out to be common thugs with a fearful name tacked on."
Olana Thursday October 26th, 2000 10:57:47 AM
Olana raised an eyebrow at Ingrge's information. "Well if that's who we're after, why are they torturing him? I mean why not just throw him back in jail? Seems a waste of resources if you ask me," she says matter of factly, unconcerned about the plight of the victim. Her eyes flit amongst the others, figuring out the possible odds, and then she nods to herself. "Well - if we're going to do something... I agree with Figment - now could be good."
DM Jan (Obsidian) Thursday October 26th, 2000 11:10:09 AM
Ingrge places the rock - given to them by the kiddie orphan elves - against the plate on the door. For a second, nothing happens, and then - the plate glows a dull colour of red. Without a sound, the door swings open. From the doorway, some things are apparent. There is a lit hallway - with stairs leading downward straight ahead. To the right - along the wall, is a closed door. At this moment - there are no sounds coming from the interior.
Figment Thursday October 26th, 2000 11:16:49 AM
The mage whispers "I bet they're eating in that room. Let's go down the stairs and see if we can get in and out without being discovered.". The mage waits and follows the warriors down the stairs - or wherever else they may decide to go.
Flueterflam Thursday October 26th, 2000 9:02:46 PM
"Safety in numbers...right?" Fluet sounds rather unsure about entering the place. "Well, let's hurry up. The long the wait, the less the willingness."
Shadrach Thursday October 26th, 2000 11:38:52 PM
"Good thought," whispered Shad. "The leaders and prisoners are usually in the safest area. Listen, I have a silence spell ready. If somebody wants to cause a ruckus quiet-like, give me a sign." Shad will advance down the stairs near the front or to the rear of the party.
Dakar Friday October 27th, 2000 12:15:10 AM
"Right" whispers the dwarf. "I'll take point I suppose... since I can take the brunt of hits and all... It is a good day to die."
He trundles down tha hall way as quietly as is possible
K'nara d20=19 d20=5 Friday October 27th, 2000 6:12:05 AM
(OOC: made a "to hit" roll & then a Strength check.)
K'nara's hand shot out and grabbed ahold of the topmost spike on Dakar's head, staying the dwarf's progress for a moment.
"HOLD it a second!" she whispered fiercely. "Let Milo go to the door first, so he can listen...THEN follow him as quietly as you can. We gotta give him a chance to listen for anyone..." After saying this, the tall human let go of Dakar.
"Fluet, you're with me...we'll go to those stairs and try to hear anything from downstairs..." K'nara ordered, "Shad and Ingrge, then Figment and Olana to bring up the rear, okay? Let's do this as quickly and quietly as possible..." With this last order, the bladesinger reached behind her right shoulder and unsheathed her sword, then proceeded to step as lightly as possible down the hallway after Milo and Dakar had gone.
Olana Friday October 27th, 2000 10:40:03 AM
Olana nods at K'Nara's suggestion, staying to the rear and keeping her eye on the street. She looks for something to jam the door open just in case they need a fast exit.
Dakar Friday October 27th, 2000 5:03:48 PM
grumbling softly the Painmonger agrees to do as K'nara suggests... He appears anxious, almost nervously so, but there's a glimmer behind his eyes that's reminiscent of anticipation.
Ingrge Friday October 27th, 2000 7:46:47 PM
With a small grin back at the others as he hears the click of a lock and the door pops open. As K'narra issues orders, Ingrge nods and with a glance over to Shad steps aside to let the others pass.
Milo d100=36 d100=46 d100=51 Friday October 27th, 2000 11:53:38 PM
Hearing his name, Milo snaps out of his reverie and into focus. Moving swiftly and silently from the darkness of the alleyway, the halfling moves quickly through the doorway, and passes Dakar, laying his short sword blade on his own shoulder and giving the dwarf a friendly wink. As silent as ever he was, (OOC: 36% on MS roll) and moving quickly, the halfling goes so far as a quarter of the way down the stairs, but finds it difficult to hear anything distinct over the sound of armor and weapons jingling behind him. He has no better luck at the door, and makes a gesture that indicates as such, points to the door, then the stairs... and shrugs his shoulders, as if to ask which way they'd prefer to start.
DM Jan (Obsidian) Saturday October 28th, 2000 8:26:22 PM
As the party moves inside quietly - there is a strangled "Aaaargh!!" sound - somewhat muffled, coming from down the stairs. Right after this, someone starts talking behind the door to the right - again, it's muffled and someone would have to put their ear right up to the door to attempt to hear what is being said behind it.
K'nara Monday October 30th, 2000 6:20:19 AM
The leader of the Emerald Talons bit her lip--it was clear Milo couldn't hear anything from behind the door even as the sound from downstairs indicated somebody down there who wasn't getting treated the way most would prefer. But going downstairs without peeking into the area beyond that closed door would be folly...
K'nara gestured to Milo then pointed to the door. She lifted a hand to "shade" her eyes, pointed to the door again and then lifted a finger to her lips as though shushing the halfling. The female fighter hoped Milo would be able to get her meaning.
Milo d100=77 d100=60 Monday October 30th, 2000 10:54:39 AM
Gesturing to K'nara with his thumb up, Milo turns to the door, and listens again for a moment. Still not being able to make out the sounds on the other side, he silently grabs the handle, and attempts to open the door just a crack so he can get a look at what is inside.
DM Jan (Obsidian) Monday October 30th, 2000 11:25:35 AM
Milo does indeed manage to open the door very slightly - and hears this snippet of a longer conversation. "So he hasn't broken yet?" "Nope. Stubborn as a mule." "I wonder why he's holding back?" ::eating sounds:: "Dunno - man like that - I'd have thought he'd have sold his own brother." "Strange. Still - we HAVE to find out how he got out of jail. Parnoth wants to know how his impenetrable prison just got penetrable. And if we don't find out... well, you know what the consequences will be." "Don't remind me. Okay - well, I'll just finish this, and then go down and see how it's going. I think he has a couple of fingernails left. If not I'll start on his teeth." ::more eating sounds::
Figment Monday October 30th, 2000 2:25:53 PM
The mage waits until Milo closes the door and whispers to K'Nara "I would suggest we go get our quarry now and fight our way out only if we are forced to. I think we have the firepower to take them if need be. I would suggest we hurry...". He stands ready to cast.
Flueterflam Monday October 30th, 2000 4:57:58 PM
The bard stays behind K'nara. He anxiously awaits the decision to be made. Fluet appears tired and nervous, but keeps quiet.
Dakar Monday October 30th, 2000 8:10:58 PM
The berserking priest merely twists his face into a snarl as the door closes. The anger can be seen boiling in his veins, almost radiating off of him in palpable heat... He drops his shoulders and softly begins mumbling something under his breath.
K'nara Tuesday October 31st, 2000 6:31:37 AM
"Noted, Figment," K'nara replied to the wizard in an equally soft voice, nodding, "But I'd rather us take out these guys up here first and then go down to where they have their...guest accommodations. I don't want our only known way out blocked." Here the dancing hazel eyes of the human bladesinger fell upon the battlerager of the party.
"A Silence spell on this doorway would keep any others downstairs from hearing us as we acquaint these agents of the Green One with the effectiveness of Dakar's brand of combat..." The grin on the warrior woman's face was fairly wolfish. "...does anybody cast such a spell? If so, cast it. If not, we rush in on the count of three..."
Olana Tuesday October 31st, 2000 11:12:22 AM
Olana listens hard as Milo opens the door a little - trying to figure out how many people are beyond it from the sounds within. She then moves to the right side of the door, and makes sure she can easily slide her sword from its scabbard.
DM Jan (Obsidian) d100=17 Tuesday October 31st, 2000 11:23:11 AM
More groaning sounds come from the cellar. Behind the door on the right, someone says - "Hey - you hear that?"
Milo Tuesday October 31st, 2000 11:31:57 AM
Milo flattens himself out on the side of the door so as not to be noticed when it is opened, then he readies his short sword, and looks at Dakar expectantly...

The mage whispers back to K'Nara in resignation, "I have no such spell - but I can cast my web spell into the room there and hold those guys before they see us. Just give the word and I'll do it.". If the warrior woman says yes he moves quickly to the door and begins to cast, motioning Milo to open it back at the correct moment - and blasts them.

Shad wondered if K'Nara was going senile. It had only been two minutes since he offered, hadn't it? Shrugging, the priest began to pray, concentrating his spell onthe door to the right.

Dakar the Painmonger d20=17 d20=9 d10+6=8 Tuesday October 31st, 2000 1:32:08 PM
Bellowing with silent rage as he charges through the door, Dakar acquaints the one nearest the door to the taste of his blade (AC -2, AC 6) biting into his flesh. The words flow forth from the vindicators lips as he enters his berserking song. The fury of Domi is unleashed upon those who would perform torture on the innocent.
Ingrge 2d4(2+4)+1=7 Tuesday October 31st, 2000 8:35:55 PM
Before he can get out any kind of word, Dakar busts past hitting the door with his shoulder and almost running down the little halfling. With a sigh directed at K'narra and a shrug of his shoulders, Ingrge steps through the door after Dakar and lets fly with a magic missile at the nearest opponent on the left.(8 points)
K'nara Wednesday November 1st, 2000 6:24:42 AM Hackenslashin' battleragers!!! K'nara thought to herself, rolling her eyes and following the overzealous dwarf warrior-priest as he enthusiastically engaged...whomever it was in the room in his unique brand of combat. She held back from immediately attacking, wishing to see who and/or what was in the room first.
