Southook at Night (DM Lee-Anne) Friday February 16th, 2001 1:29:30 PM
The nighttime street outside the Frosted Glass is dimly lit by lanterns over the doors of this establishment or that. The nearby river lends a damp chill to the autumn evening air, and a crescent moon sinks westward. A cluster of youths bearing lanterns wait on the steps to light patrons to their homes.
By contrast, the next major street, when you reach it, is lined with magically glowing stone posts. With the shops closed, it is fairly quiet, though there are still pedestrians passing on their own business.
It is a short walk to Madame Chloe's narrow side street, which runs north off the main avenue. Her little shop is midway down the block on the right hand side, and the massive warehouse looms just beyond. Each building is identified by her sign -- a blue-green helm & shield bearing an elaborately scripted "C". A small lantern above the shop door, and another at the shop across the street, provide the only light in the immediate area.
The warehouse is about 60' tall, and the wall facing the street is 100' wide. A massive, 20' x 20' sliding door is centered in the wall, with the small magical lock set immediately beside it on the right, about chest-high to a human.
Sly Foxx and Luke Friday February 16th, 2001 5:15:53 PM
"Well here we are,Sir Thomas."said Sly "Who is on first watch in the warehouse? and please don't put the wolves and the dog together." thinking about some thing the ask another question,"Or should we see to where we can store our gear,First?"
Ael d'Gaiaim Friday February 16th, 2001 6:17:02 PM
Ael reveals some information about himself as the group walks. "I'm from Threshold, originally...When most people look for magic, they think of Hook City, but there are a few skilled in the magical arts in Threshold as well. My old master, for one: Gaius, the Transmuter."
Laughing, he continues. "I remember once when he caught me studying the halfling language instead of practicing my cantrips. He threatened to turn me into a turnip!"
"Anyway, it's always been my dream to found a school of magic outside of Hook City. The people here have benefited from the use of spells in everyday life...perhaps the same could apply elsewhere. So i'm travelling. After I completed my apprentiship, my master, Gaius, sent me forth into the 'Real World'. He said I needed to become more 'Worldly-Wise'."
He frowns a bit and says "I havn't the slightest notion of what he meant by that."
Sir Thomas Friday February 16th, 2001 10:50:43 PM
Thomas pulls out the two keys and looks them over. He looks up at the group and chuckles, "I'm used to skeleton keys or metal keys. I bet I look like I a fumbling through an entire ring full of keys." He places one in each hand and tries to open the lock, first with one, and then with the other if he needs to. "Sly, I think we should find a place to set up our base of operations first, and then look to see how easy or hard it will be to fortify this warehouse. However, I think that a good watch would consist of Uteva and Lok, Trace and Altemia, you and Ael, and then Ilsidur and myself. I have included our two new resources and tried to put those without night vision early or late and with someone that has that ability. Any objections or suggestions?" Thomas allows all to enter before him while he again holds the door. He then makes his way around the warehouse looking for ventilation openings, windows, cracks, deep corners, and anything else he might be able to use as knowledge in the defense of the warehouse and its goods. He takes his pack and belongings with him out of peroccupation with the chore.
Thomas takes a quick opportunity to pull Uteva aside and quietly ask her, "Do you think you can keep Lok on task? If not I'll pull watch with him and do my best to perform that task. I don't mean to offend him, so lets keep this between us."
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil Saturday February 17th, 2001 9:32:26 AM
Tara and Kevil wander throughout the warehouse smelling it over and taking in all the new smells in the place. Altemia sees that Sir Thomas is looking over the place very carefully and goes in search of the apartment that Madame Chloe mentioned would be their home for the next few days.
Ilsidur Saturday February 17th, 2001 12:30:02 PM
Standing at the front of the store, Ilsidur watches Sir Thomas and Altemia enter the warehouse and look around. He turns to Trace, and says, "What say you and I walk around the outside of the buildings, and get a sense of how anyone coming from outside might try to get in?" After he gets Trace's answer, he heads off around the side of the buildings (with or without Trace), pulling out a piece of paper and a quill and ink, to make a small sketch map of the outside of the buildings.
Lok Mufflefoot Saturday February 17th, 2001 1:32:49 PM
At the suggestion of a magic school by Ael, the halfling perks up. "Maybe I could instruct them in some magic too!" The halfling winks at the mage and makes three silver balls suddenly appear seeminly from his sleeve, juggles them in all sorts of strange ways, and suddenly grabs the last one directly from behind his ears. The three which had been in the air had suddenly disapeared back into the halflings pockets. Lok gradually regains control of himself and becomes a bit more serious as they come to their guard duty station. He listens carefully at Sir Thomas's suggested guard watch and makes the quiet suggestion "Me n Uteva the sneakiest ones. Maybe we do farthest out scouting." He wiggles his ears.
Trace and Radiant Sunday February 18th, 2001 10:04:51 PM
Trace followes Ilsidur outside to see possible entry locations into the building. Trace also looks for a high perch inside the wharehouse for useing a bow. Trace draws his short and long sword while walking outside the building while Radiant is perched on his shoulder cleaning his feathers.
Uteva Monday February 19th, 2001 12:36:36 PM
Teva considers Sir Thomas' question for a moment, then nods. "Lok is steady when it matters -- remember, he gave us enough warning about that orc attack. He'll be fine, I think."
She continues more loudly, "Will two be enough for each shift? This is a big building, and we have the shop to watch." She unloads her gear as soon as possible and goes hunting for lighting materials. "Does anyone have a lamp? I don't even have torches."
Exploring Inside (DM Lee-Anne) Monday February 19th, 2001 2:46:45 PM
The purple gem glows briefly as it is set in the lock, then it falls free into Sir Thomas' palm. The big door rolls aside smoothly.
Just inside the door, above the lock, a small shelf holds a lantern and a flask of oil. Lights are needed to explore the big building, which stretches 200' deep. High on the walls, just below the rafters, a row of windows wraps around the north, east, and south walls.
Crates are stacked high and deep on the north side of the front half of the building. The south side contains a row of long tables on which are displayed a wide array of armor pieces. A large 15' cube crate sits in the center of the vast room. Beyond, two large caravan wagons occupy the southeast corner, and north is filled by the apartment.
This 40' x 50' building-within-a-building has a door in the west side, with a ladder beside it that leads 30' up to the roof. The outside of the south wall is lined with shelves containing long-unused travel gear. Inside are three two-tiered bunk beds, a large table, chairs, privy, and a cooking hearth.
Other than the rafters 60' up, the highest vantage points in the warehouse are the roof of the apartment, and the stack of crates, which are piled as high as 35' against the walls. . .
Exploring Outside (DM Lee-Anne) Monday February 19th, 2001 2:48:44 PM
Ilsidur and Trace find that Chloe's shop is a two-storied buiding 50' x 100' big and 30' high. It is fronted by a narrow porch whose roof supports a second-story balcony. This upper floor also has numerous windows, and appears to be an apartment. A door at the rear of the buiding leads to a low-walled garden with sculpted paths, a massive tree, and a number of stone benches and statues.
The front and back walls of the shop, and the front wall of the warehouse, are faced with pale marble, but the remaining walls are a more mundane painted brick.
Sir Thomas Monday February 19th, 2001 9:37:47 PM
Thomas returns to the group in the apartment after scouting the warehouse. "You have a strong point Uteva. I had not considered the large area of our responsibility, this place is very big. I think that we can get away with two rotating shifts of three at night and rotating shifts of two during the day. Since we don't have to travel anywhere we can make up the missed sleep during the day. Also, Ael the mage needs a full night's sleep to be the most good for our group, correct? So he should only have daytime guard responsibilities. The elves only need four hours of sleep, so they can easily make up their sleep time. For Uteva and I, it will take a little more time for us to make up for a full night's sleep. Here is my proposition on the night details. Uteva, Ilsidur, Sly, and Lok for one group, Trace, Altemia, and Me for the other. During the day I think that we should rotate based upon who has errands and who needs sleep. A minimum of two guards should be posted, but it would not hurt us to be on duty if we are not sleeping or taking care of other pressing arrangements. Who has suggestions? What did I miss? Communication is going to be critical for the next few days. Let's talk it up folks. If you hear a mouse squeak be sure to tell someone. We should also have a regular check in set up or the buddy system of some kind. Maybe one of the elves could carry over between watches so that we always have 4 on duty at night. I don't mean to spread anyone thin though. These are only suggestions right now. Who has others?" THomas stops speaking for now to let others chip in ideas.
Trace and Radiant Monday February 19th, 2001 10:13:32 PM
Trace speaks up, "I will cover both shifts at night and catch up on my sleep first thing in the morning. I also think we should spend some extra coin to light up the area inside and outside by the street. We will also need archers up high for lookout and advantage point. I will take the balcony out front and cover the large door with my bow and attach a rope that I can throw down incase I need to decend quickly. That will put two people on the floor below me and two on the inside. That is if I am counting it correctly. Ael can take my place once my two shifts are over and I can crash for the morning hours.
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil Tuesday February 20th, 2001 1:47:23 AM
"Teva, I have some sunrods in my stuff that you brought. Those might work for part of the night tonight unless we want to keep them for later. Each one is good for six hours or so. Let me have the gear and I'll take it up to the apartment and get it out of the way."
Altemia fills the lantern and lights it. Holding it in one hand, she gets as much of the gear as she can and carries it up to the apartment.
Tara and Kevil have wandered farther inside to explore.
Sly Foxx and Luke (warehouse) Tuesday February 20th, 2001 6:02:50 AM
"I like the four hours shift better, because I don't remember if halfling's have night vision." said Sly,"And putting the dog on one shift and the wolves on the other is a great idea, that way nothing will get pass us, Sir Thomas. When do I start my shift?" Turning to Trace tells him,"Putting rangers with night vision is a great idea."
Uteva Tuesday February 20th, 2001 12:37:33 PM
Teva follows Altemia back to the apartment and snoops around inside quickly. She returns to the others. "I like the heavier shifts, too. But why not put Ael on one of them? He can catch up on his sleep during the day, like the rest of us."
"Where do you guys want me? Maybe we should put somebody else outside to cover the back of the shop."
Planning Watches (DM Lee-Anne) Tuesday February 20th, 2001 12:46:23 PM
As the party stands about deliberating, Madame Chloe arrives, escorted by a young lantern-bearer. She waves to those standing outside, but doesn't stop to talk, instead unlocking the door to the shop and heading inside. A few moments later, a light flickers to life in the apartment upstairs. The lad makes his way back down the street.
Trace realizes that he won't be able to see the warehouse door from the balcony over the shop.
Lok Mufflefoot d20+9=25 Tuesday February 20th, 2001 3:51:37 PM
"Well I don't see in the dark better than you, I just look better." the halfling winks at Sly mischeviously and wiggles his furry eyebrows.
Then Lok takes a walk around the perimeter and carefully searches for problems and oddities in the wall itself (search score of 25). His furry feet paddle about quietly and exclamations of "Mmmhmm, hmm." can be heard from the short fellow as he slowly makes his way around.
Looking at Trace's climb to the top the halfling comments "You guys ought to stay hidden in the crates or under the tables, or in that corner and keep a watch. I could sentry our perimeter stealthily. Course the real question is which group goes first?"
Sir Thomas d2=1 Tuesday February 20th, 2001 6:02:20 PM
Thomas considers all of the good ideas while he helps the females tote their gear to the apartment. He removes his own backpack and other unnecessary items as well. He then returns carrying 5 torches to give more of his input. "I have these, they're just run of the mill, but they work well. As far as taking Ael from the watches, he needs 8 hours of uninterrupted rest correct? I don't really know because I'm no mage, but that's the way I have understood it from friends of mine who were. I think the buddy system will work the best. So, if we decide to do that we should all get a buddy and stay with them for the most part. I don't think there is any need to hold hands or anything, but definately keep track of your buddy. The disadvantage is that we won't be able to keep our eyes on as much area. The advantage is that no one will ever be in trouble without backup. And to me . . . I want to do a good job for Madame Chloe, but it will be more important in the long run for us all to be safe in the case of an incident. About who should go first. I'll flip a coin, (so it's nice and fair like). "My group is heads, and the other is tails. whoever loses takes first watch.(OOC: that's 1 is me ; 2 is the other group)" Thomas flips a coin. "heads it is friends. You go first." (OOC: in case you are wondering. I set the parameters and THEN flipped the coin.) Thomas begins to laugh uncontrollably for no reason at the rediculousness of the event that just occured.
Trace and Radiant d20+4=9 Tuesday February 20th, 2001 7:23:53 PM
Trace returns inside, "Well it seems that I wont be able to see the whole front from the balcony outside. I guess it is foot patroll for me instead. I also have four torches that we can use to start off with. I am going to see if there is some holders outside I can place the torches in so that I dont have to carry them." If able Trace will attach a torch next to the front door and move to the corner of the building away from the light and try to remain hidden. Trace will keep a 180 degree watch with his back against the wall standing with weapons drawn and Radiant on his shoulder.
Ael D'Gaiaim Tuesday February 20th, 2001 8:26:18 PM
Ael breaks out of his contemplation to answer Sir Thomas. "That's correct. But the rest is only required to dissipate the magical residue which remains after the casting of a spell. The requirement and requisite delay is one of the most celebrated unsolved problems in magical theory. I'll only need to rest my magic if I've used it; So I have no problem standing watch at night..."
"Speaking of magic, I have a few spells that may be able to help the watch. I could set a simple alarm on a door, or a specific area?"
Sly Foxx and Luke (warehouse) Tuesday February 20th, 2001 9:38:34 PM
Sly is holding the door for the females (hoping that they'll make him a sandwich for his help), when he spots Lok wiggling eyebrow and at first Sly wonders what that little halfling means. All of a sudden Sly's eyes widens and he tells Lok, "Listen little one IF we buddy up, your walking in front of me... YOU HEAR." Sly turns and laugh to himself, "BOY! what a jester. I hope."
Ilsidur Wednesday February 21st, 2001 12:47:58 PM
"The biggest problem I see is that we have to split our watches between the two buildings. The only way in or out of the warehouse is the front door (and the windows high up), and the ways into the shop are the door at the front, the door at the rear and the windows. Much as I hate to suggest it, we may have to split into two groups, one group covers the warehouse, and the other one covers the shop. Can I suggest, Sir Thomas and Uteva take the warehouse day shift, Sly and I take the warehouse night shift, and we four take turns sleeping in the warehouse during the off shift. Then, in the shop and apartment, Trace and Ael take the day shift and Lok and Altemia take the night shift, and you four sleep in the shop during your off shift. That way, the ones with darkvision or lowlightvision are on shift after dark, and each after-dark shift includes a canine, with the increased sense of smell."
"Each patrol wanders around the building, and looks for anything out of place. If anything alerts us, we shout to wake up the sleeping shift, and have one of them race next door for help, while the three remaining hold off whatever. Also, get the dogs to set up a racket, and that can alert the building next door that something is going on. Can anyone else think of a way to alert the people next door?"
Uteva Wednesday February 21st, 2001 2:14:52 PM
Teva frowns. "Ils, your plan makes sense, except that we're not supposed to go inside the shop. What if half of the people on shift watch inside the warehouse, while the other half watch outside? Also, we may want to switch Trace with Lok, so that Lok is on in the day, when he can see better."
DM Lee-Anne Wednesday February 21st, 2001 2:22:24 PM
The window in Madame Chloe's home darkens as she turns in for the night. The moon sinks further toward the horizon.
Torch in hand, Lok searches the warehouse wall diligently, and finds that it is excellent repair. The paint on the brick is beginning to flake near the corners.
Trace finds no torch holders. There are a number of convenient hooks inside the warehouse from which a lantern might be hung.
((OOC Let's try to be specific about locations, please. Which wall is Lok searching? Which corner is Trace leaning against? Of which building? Are they inside, or outside? We have 3 buildings involved, here, people: the warehouse, the apartment inside the warehouse, and the shop.))
Sly Foxx and Luke (warehouse) Wednesday February 21st, 2001 4:48:09 PM
Sly watches the light of the day dim, and the stars of twilight rise. Sly then enters the warehouse sit on the forth table that has armor and other things on them. Sly look down at Luke "Well, you had a good meal out of that sandwich, if you want the other half your going to have to work for it. Go make your rounds, then come back to me, OK pal?" Sly sits at the table reading his book of magic (makes no difference if there is no light Sly has night vision), waiting for Ilsdur.
Trace and Radiant Wednesday February 21st, 2001 10:07:32 PM
Trace stands outside of the wharehouse keeping watch. Trace waits to see if there will be enough moonlight that he can see without lighting a torch. If not Trace will find some way to jerry rig a stand to hold the lit torch so that he has two free hands outside.
Sir Thomas Wednesday February 21st, 2001 10:33:45 PM
Thomas takes about 20 minutes to watch the setting sun. "I love this time of day you guys. It is very relaxing for me to spend a few minutes of reflection watching the sun set." THomas then goes inside. "So I guess I'm on day shift with Uteva then right? I'm going to pray and hit the sack then. I think you have come up with the best idea Ilsidur. The apartment is close enough that the yelling will probably rouse at least one of us that are asleep, and if the dogs bark . . . I think we'll hear. So have a good night you night time watch folk. I'm heading for dream land." Thomas goes to the apartment, prays his nightly prayers, and removes his armor for sleeping. He keeps some clothes on because Uteva is or will be present of course.
Lok Mufflefoot Thursday February 22nd, 2001 7:22:09 AM
"Wall looks pretty sturdy, I found no faults in it or with it. Unless somethin comes through windows or the door, my guess is it's not getting in." Finished with his analysis the halfling wanders over to Sly checking for cookies. Seemingly unhappy with the lack of fuel to really give him some energy for sleep, the halfling makes his way to his sleeping position and lays down. He tries to calm himself a bit and lays down to grab a few Z's before his shift.
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil Thursday February 22nd, 2001 10:47:58 AM
Altemia makes her way outside and finds Trace, letting her eyes adjust to the difference in light.
"Looks like we have the night shift out here. I figure that I can have Tara guard the door here and take Kevil around with me. Tara knows you now, so she won't growl when you go near the door as we walk the perimeter. It seems unlikely that anyone will use the door, but it is possible. I'd like to keep an eye on those windows on the north side. There are a lot of boxes underneath them inside. Easier access.
"How's that sound?"
Uteva Thursday February 22nd, 2001 2:24:36 PM
"Agreed, then. Goodnight everybody." Teva snuffs the lamp and rolls herself into a bunk, quickly falling asleep.
Ilsidur Thursday February 22nd, 2001 5:22:54 PM
Ilsidur walks over to Sly, "So I guess we have what is left of the nightwatch inside here. I'm going to sit on top of one of the caravan wagons in the southeast corner, with my crossbow ready and my axe and shield on the seat beside me. I will leave that corner unlit, since I can see fine in the dark. Why don't you patrol around the building with Luke and a torch, and look for anything out of place? I suggest anyone sleeping do so in the apartment in the northeast corner. Perhaps Lok, you could sleep on top of the apartment?"
Then Ilsidur climbs up on the western wagon and gets ready for a long remainder of the night. He will get up every 10-15 minutes and wander around a bit, talking to Sly, and looking for anything out of place. He will also poke his head regularily into the apartment, to make sure everyone is sleeping OK.
Ael d'Gaiaim Thursday February 22nd, 2001 6:07:37 PM
"Well, unless there's somewhere you all think we should alarm...I'm going to head to bed. It'l be a long day tomorrow - though I don't envy the lot who have to stay awake and alert."
Happenings in the Night (DM Lee-Anne) d20+5=6 d20+5=13 d20+3=10 d20+4=14 Thursday February 22nd, 2001 6:22:08 PM
A couple of hours into the watch, the moon sets. Trace manages to set up a torch stand using a pack and an empty crate, illuminating the area in front of the warehouse. Altemia can see dimly as she patrols around the buiding. Inside, torchlight makes spooky shadows as Sly patrols. The old wagon seat creaks alarmingly the first time Ilsidur climbs onto it.
Trace, please make 2 spot checks. (DC 24 and 20)
Sly may make a Listen check. (DC 22)
Trace and Radiant d20+4=24 d20+4=19 Thursday February 22nd, 2001 7:55:25 PM
Trace agrees with Altemia, "That sounds like a good idea and I wouldnt worry about the wolves around me. Since I was a child I have had a certain gift with animales to say the least. But good plan none the less." Trace stands at the corner of the wharehouse feeling full of himself on the simple yet perfect stand for his torch. Trace catches a motion out of the corner of his eye and spins to see what it is ready to call out for help when nesscary.
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil Thursday February 22nd, 2001 10:31:33 PM
Altemia walks around the building once with both wolves showing them the property. When she gets back to the front, she sets Tara in the shadows near the door and tells her to guard it. Tara licks Altemia's hand and goes and lays down near the door.
Altemia continues to slowly walk around the building with Kevil. Kevil is watchful as he walks with Altemia a few steps a head of her.
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+1=19 Friday February 23rd, 2001 12:23:57 AM

Sir Thomas (Ceil) warehouse Friday February 23rd, 2001 10:25:04 AM
After his prays, and takes off his armor making sure that the armor has no rust on it(but will give the armor a quick swipe with a clean cloth. Then Sir thomas makes sure that his sword is sharp, clean and ready to go at a moment notice. Sir Thomas goes to bed, but for some odd reason, falls asleep(as much as his training will let him) so fast, that He is facing the door.
Uteva Friday February 23rd, 2001 1:11:51 PM
The bard snores gently on her cot.
Attack from the Darkness (DM Lee-Anne) d2=1 Friday February 23rd, 2001 6:06:38 PM
It is the middle of the night. Trace's fourth torch is burning, and Altemia And Kevil are on patrol, rounding the back of the warehouse. Ilsidur is on a wagon seat, Sly is on the fourth table, and Luke is wandering between the crates and the little apartment, where Lock and the humans are tucked in their beds.
Standing in the alley just around the SW corner of the warehouse, Trace notices something small come flying into the lantern light. It strikes the front of the warehouse, about 10' away from the corner, and lands soundlessly on the cobbled street. It looks like a quarrel or small arrow. (Trace, make a Wisdom check vs DC 20 to notice how quiet it is.)
He sees Tara, down near the north corner of the warehouse, turn to face across the street before the wolf slumps to the ground. (Tara is Asleep. Failed Will save last turn.)
Inside the warehouse, Sly just barely hears a faint clatter from outside, muffled through the thickness of the door.
We are now technically in combat. The party has initiative, and only Trace and Sly are aware of any disturbance at this point.
Trace and Radiant (Radiant +1 to attack and dmg.) d20+2=6 Friday February 23rd, 2001 11:37:48 PM
Trace sees the object hit the wall and then the dog look across the street and then slump down. He then realizes that he is a target and is under attack. Screaming in elven tounge, " TO ARMS! THERE IS GAME AFOOT!" Trace waves his hand and says, "Manet" a glow eminates from his crystalized holly leaf around his neck and moves to his hand. He then touches Radiant and the glow seems to be absorbed by the large eagle. (Radiant recives +1 to attack and dmg.) Trace draws his Long and Short sword as he awaits help.

Sly is honing his sword when Sly thinks he heard something. Sly Calls Lukee
Sly Foxx and Luke (warehouse) Saturday February 24th, 2001 12:09:47 AM
Sly gets up from the table and calls for luke again. When he hears the alarm from Trace, sly Yells to Ilsidur"Something is happening out side, I'll bet it's trouble" Sly will go into the back room, says "Armor on"(his armor is instanly on.) Grab some torches, kicks the bed of Sir Thomas,"Trouble out side, wake the others, I'm going out now" Starts to turn and run out side.
Sly Foxx and Luke (warehouse) Saturday February 24th, 2001 12:13:13 AM
OOC:(Sly and Luke) will try to go out the back door.
Altemia and Kevil (Kevil +1 att and dmg) Saturday February 24th, 2001 9:31:48 AM
Altemia hears something going on up towards the front of the building. She reaches down and touches Kevil's head and whispers "Vesha". Then each of them race toward the front of the building with Kevil racing ahead toward the sounds. Altemia slows down and stops at the corner to look around it to see if she can see anything before continueing. Kevil continues ahead of her.
Ilsidur Saturday February 24th, 2001 12:01:12 PM
Ilsidur shouts to Sly, as she heads out the door, "I'll cover the windows until someone comes out of the apartment!" Then Ilsidur starts to hustle around the building scanning the windows into warehouse, loaded crossbow at the ready. "Call me if you need help outside!"
Lok Mufflefoot Sunday February 25th, 2001 12:42:37 PM
Sleeping near Sir Thomas the halfling hears Trace screaming something in his sleep. Turning a half closed eye up he mutters "What in the heck." Grumbling and still sleepy the halfling prepares himself for whatever seems afoot rubbing his eyes and looking about him for a good spot to hide in to meet the oncoming possible attack.
Ael d'Gaiaim Sunday February 25th, 2001 7:39:50 PM
The movement and noise wake Ael from his sleep (and if they hadn't, Lok certainly would have.)
Rising slowly, he rubs his eyes and grumbles, quickly pulls on his jacket and belt, and grabs his crossbow -- but forgets to load it. He heads for the door before noticing, and and swears under his breath as he wedges a quarrel into place before stepping out the door.
Ael d'Gaiaim is not a morning person.
Sir Thomas Sunday February 25th, 2001 9:23:19 PM
Sir THomas stirs slightly at the commotion that arises, but doesn't rise until his cot is kicked. At that stimulus he jumps out of the sleeping utensil and begins yelling, "Get up! Get up! There's trouble brewing! Get up! Get up!" ad he continues in that fashion until the others all get up or he has his boots on and can push them around. Thomas then takes time to put on his breast plate, but forgoes the rest of his suit of armor for the sake of his rush to get outside. He grabs his sword, leaving the empty scabbard behind, and rushes out the door to help his friends. [OOC: just let me know how many rounds it takes to put on the breast plate and get out there, so that I can then begin to get into this thing!]
Silent Attack, Round 1 - Results of Party Initiative d20+1=11 Monday February 26th, 2001 1:02:50 PM
When Trace opens his mouth to shout, not a sound emerges. Luckily, he realizes that he won't be able to cast properly (Int check 11 vs. DC 8), and saves his spell for later.
Luke comes to Sly's initial call, but the remaining party actions are voided because Trace's shout went unheard.
Altemia and Kevil move their full-round movement . . .
Sweet Dreams (DM Lee-Anne) Monday February 26th, 2001 1:10:32 PM
Surrounded by sleeping friends, Sir Thomas dreams.
He is running, all four feet pounding. Wind whips his hair, snatches breath from his nostrils. A feeling of danger draws him forward across the land, toward something that looms tall up ahead . . .
Silent Attack, Round 1 - Opponents Initiative (DM Lee) Monday February 26th, 2001 1:28:42 PM
In eerie silence, eight orcs pour out of the alley across the street from the warehouse door. They are led by a massive, hairy orc, whose long, sinewy arms reach almost to his ankles. His bear-like form is immediately recognizable to Trace as Bear lumbers into the outer range of torchlight.
Bear heads straight to Trace, stopping in front of him in the mouth of the alley south of the warehouse. He grins in anticipation and appears to roar, although no sound emerges.
The remaining orcs follow him most of the way across the street, then peel off to cluster around the warehouse door. Orc #1 remains behind, about 10' from Bear along the front wall.
None of the party hear any sound from outside. It is now party initiative.
Altemia and Kevil will round the SE corner after their first movement action. They may each make a spot check to notice the extra moving form at the other end of the alley. They will then have one action remaining for the round.
Altemia and Kevil d20+9=22 d20+4=15 Monday February 26th, 2001 4:00:37 PM
Kevil reaches the corner of the building ahead of Altemia and waits there for her. Altemia comes up to the corner and peeks around carefully as Kevil turns the corner and waits since Altemia is not moving. (Spot checks for Altemia and Kevil 22,15.)
Seeing the other person at the end of the alleyway, she leans over to Kevil and lays her hand on his back. She whispers softly, but clearly, "Vesha" (+1 for Kevil to dmg and attack).
Sir Thomas Monday February 26th, 2001 4:14:11 PM
Loving the dream of things to come Thomas simply rolls over in his cot. His muscles tighten and relax with the sensation of the rythmic pulse of traveling. Oh the exilaration of things to come. Subconsciously he knows he is heading for something dangerous ahead, but he knows that Alemi has determined for him to do great things, and that Domi will be pleased with the result if resistance arises. He will fulfill all of his desires with the danger that looms beyond his comprehension. Yet, with all of that emotion he simply lies in his cot . . . asleep.
Sly Foxx and Luke (warehouse) Monday February 26th, 2001 4:56:40 PM
Sly stand up and tell Luke,"My torch is burning a little low, I think I'll get a couple more from the back, want to come with me?" Sly starts to turn, when he (Sly) think he hear something hit the door or out side wall. Sly yells at Ilsdur(who is sitting on one of the wagons) "Hey! Ilsdur, I think I hear something hit the door. I'll go and see if it's anything out there) then turns and says "Armor On" zip on goes his armor(nice and clean). picks up his short torch and heads for the door. He will open the door about six inches to peek out side.)
Ilsidur Monday February 26th, 2001 10:09:36 PM
Ilsidur shouts ahead to Sly, "I didn't hear anything. Could it have been a cookie falling?"
Laughing to himself, he climbs down from the wagon, cradling his crossbow in his arms. He wanders over to stand just west of the large crate in the center of the room. "Oh well," he thinks to himself, "maybe the young guy did hear something, falling cookie or not."

Trace sees the huge creature running for him and catches his breath and with out hesitation he says, " " then hammers down on the big orc (delivering 11hps dmg). Radiant flutters for a moment and sees Trace move to action and follows out of pure instinct and attacks as well, (doing 1hp dmg). Trace readies for the onslaught and thinks to himself, at least there is no room for more than one of those fools.
Ael Monday February 26th, 2001 10:52:14 PM
Ael snoffs loudly in his sleep and turns over, dreaming. Oblivious to the battle outside, he mumbles... "No, no, no...wanted...4 drams...pickled hen's teeth, minced...finely with the shallots...."
He turns over again and grumbles softly.
Lok Mufflefoot Tuesday February 27th, 2001 7:39:32 AM
The halfling dreams dreams of happy children circling his parents wagon. They were performing for the local children again. His father looked down at him then, his father took his mothers hand and smiled. They were happy, his mother in her clown makeup making all the young ones giggle. And then it faded to darkness. In the darkness the halfling could feel heat on his face, he could hear something. Lok could feel the burning on his hand...

Silent Attack, Round 2 - Results of Party Initiative (DM Lee) Tuesday February 27th, 2001 3:49:36 PM
Luke follows Sly to the warehouse door as he peaks out -- right into the face of a very irritated orc!
Moving at an amble, Ilsidur reaches a point just SE of the big crate.

Ignoring Radiant's efforts, the bear-like orc swings his meaty fists in wide arcs, hitting Trace 3 times for 5+6+5=16 hp of subdual damage and grabbing him. Bear tries to wrap his arms around the ranger and squeeze. (Trace must beat Bear's grapple check of 18 or be held, dragged into Bear's space, and squished for an additional 9 hp subdual damage.) From this close, the brutish orc's breath is a blast of foetid air.
Altemia and Kevil can see this lantern-lit struggle from the far end of the alley.
At the warehouse door, Orc #3 curses soundlessly and slides the door 5' out of his way. Waving his waraxe about, he steps SE past Sly into the warehouse and swings wildly at the Half-Elf, missing him.
Orc #5 slides the door another 5', and steps east to flank Sly. His dagger skids off Sly's chain mail.
Orc #2, meanwhile, knocks over and smothers the torch outside. He pulls the door open a further 5', and steps east, into the warehouse.
Orc #4 steps straight ahead and swings his waraxe, also missing the lucky Sly.
Orcs #6 & 7, both unarmored, move around the melee to put their backs against the mountain of crates. #7 moves his hands and speaks a low-voiced incantation, and Luke slumps to the ground, asleep (failed Will save with an 8).
#6 readies his crossbow to fire if any opponent comes within the range of his 60' darkvision or Sly's torchlight. (Readied action, hits AC 16 for 6 hp).
Ilsidur sees the orcs surround and attack Sly, but it all occurs in Silence. Even the huge warehouse door is quiet as it begins to open, rumbling only for the last 5' or so. He does hear #7 cast his spell, but Sly does not.
It is now party initiative.

(ooc:fourth time to post when I hit roll comp. crash, sorry if I have four post but this is the one. PS, dose not happen in RWI)
Trace spits a bit of tooth out after being rocked by Bear and is able to fend off an attempt to give a bear hug. Trace hammers down again with his long sword(10hp dmg.) as Radiant darts in and out missing his Target. Trace thinks to himself weather he should retreat and seek help or stand his ground but mean while readies himself for another attack.

[OOC: Ceil, it looks like you have rolled critical hit. Check it out.]
Ilsidur moves forward and to his left 15', shouting, "Up and at 'em, orcs attacking!" He raises the crossbow and looses a bolt at orc #7, skewering the unarmoured orc cleanly through the neck. [critical hit AC22 with natural 19 for light crossbow, second roll natural 20, do double damage 2d8 for total 13 hp.] He drops his crossbow and unslings his shield from his back. [OOC: I think I can do all of this (move, shoot, ready a shield), Lee-Anne, since my base attack is +4. Otherwise, I won't pull the shield.]
"I hope those sleepyheads get up soon," he thinks to himself as he readies for more combat.
Ael d'Gaiaim Tuesday February 27th, 2001 10:24:52 PM
Our young mage wakes up suddenly, in a cold sweat. Once before, during his apprentiship, his master given him a test in the wee morning hours: a pair of summoned kobolds arriving in the next room. (Practicality and all that.)
Wondering if he really heard what he thought he did, he rises quickly and, as old Gaius taught him, makes a warding motion with his left hand in the same moment he rises, whispering under his breath. (OOC: Casting shield. I don't have the PHB with me At the moment, so I don't remember the effective AC stuff...oops.)
Pulling on his jacket and belt, he nudges Sir Thomas and Uteva, then peeks out the door (opening it a very small crack, so as not to reveal himself), crossbow in hand. (Unloaded though - no actions left to load it.)
Altemia and Kevil (+1 att/dmg) d20+5=18 Tuesday February 27th, 2001 10:52:48 PM
Seeing Trace in trouble, Altemia sends Kevil to the other end of the alley at a run. She doesn't want the person fighting Trace to know that she is there, so she moves quickly, but silently about a third of the way down the alley (Move Silently check of 18).
Sir Thomas Tuesday February 27th, 2001 11:12:27 PM
FINALLY being rowsed by the commotion of Ilsidur's wail and Ael's nudge, THomas hops out of bed and grabs his sword. Not knowing the situation he does not stop to put on his armor or boots, he just grabs his sword and runs into the warehouse as he unsheathes it. He surveys the situation and begins his charge across the warehouse to help Sly in his fight against the many orcs that are not being polite even though they are guests. He screams, "Domi will be proud of me tonight! And you will regret coming here!" THomas is quite large, muscular, and imposing despite being in his pajamas.
Lok Mufflefoot Wednesday February 28th, 2001 1:06:48 PM
The halfling is roused by a kick to the motion next to him of Sir Thomas rising. Opening a half closed eye the halfling begins to grumble the oaths of a happy halfling who has had bad dreams. Something in the paladin's eyes make the halfling come awake all too quickly. Trying to follow his gaze as Lok rouses himself, the halfling wonders what could be so interesting in the darkness so deep into the knight. It is not but a millisecond before the he is gathering his weapons for the trouble to come.
Uteva d20+6=24 Wednesday February 28th, 2001 1:20:52 PM
Startled awake by the sound of Ilsidur's shout (Listen check of 24), Uteva grabs her belt and gets up, strapping it on. She fumbles in the dark for the lantern, trying to stay out of the way of Sir Thomas and his big sword.
"Guys," she asks, her voice low, "do we want the lantern lit?"

Just as Trace bleeds Bear again, Kevil arrives beside the ranger. (Kevil is in Trace's space.) Waiting around the corner for just such reinforcements, Orc #1 makes his readied attack, but misses the wolf.
Altemia sneaks, and is generally ignored by all and sundry.
Inside the warehouse, Sly's months of dedicated training pay off as his powerful blow (d20+8=28, d20+8=27) cleaves Orc #3 in two messy pieces (for 17 total damage).
When Ilsidur gets far enough around the big crate, he sees Orc #7 as the faintest of dark-on-dark shadows. (9/10 concealment) His shot would have hurt if the orc had been where he thought it was. (16 on a 40% miss chance.)
In the back apartment, it is dark, dark, dark. Ael gets up, gets his coat and belt in hand, and casts his spell. (+7 AC, +3 Reflex vs area effects. Designate its protection direction each turn.) Lok gets all his weapons on. Uteva gets her belt on and locates the lantern.
Sir Thomas locates the open door as a faint rectangle within the pitch black, and gets far enough to see Orcs #2 and #5 in the distant pool of torchlight.

Once again, Bear pounds Trace's body, hitting 3 times and doing 5, 7, 5 = 17 total hp of subdual damage. He grabs the ranger in another of his friendly hugs, painful to the tune of 7 hp subdual damage, and drags him out of the alley. (Trace can't beat this grapple of 30.) Bear takes a step north, pulling Trace with him.
Orc #1 trades places with the grappling pair, stepping into the mouth of the alley to attack Kevil. His greataxe bites into the wolf's side, doing 11 hp damage.
Orc #4, undismayed by the death of his comrade, steps calmly over the body to flank Sly, and strikes, chopping into the Half-Elf (hit AC 20) for 9 hp damage.
Orc #6, possibly unnerverved by his close call, moves outside and pulls the door closed 5'. Orc #5 gives him an irritated look and then steps back to join him, using the partial cover of the door and getting ready to fire his crossbow at any target that comes within sight.
Orc #2 steps up to Sly, flanking him, and hitting with his greataxe for 12 hp damage.
#7 speaks a quiet incantation. After that, his location is indeterminate. (Listen DC 24 for Ils, 26 for Sir Thomas.
Occasional grunts and clangs of metal can now be heard from the direction of Orc #4. Trace and Sly are still subject to Silence.
It is now party initiative.
Sir THomas Wednesday February 28th, 2001 9:16:35 PM
Sir THomas evaluates the situation as he runs out of the apartment. He realizes that there are more enemies than he can see, but he knows that his presence may create an opening in one of their defense for SLy if he can distract them. As he chares across the warehouse at top speed he uses the most intimidating voice he can summon forth and hopes that Domi will magnify it. "Domi curse you!! I will take each of your heads as a trophy for my master!! You will not regret coming here for long!!" As THomas runs he holds his large bastard sword up above his head and flails it around to be as intimidating as possible. As he nears orc 2 Thomas levels his voice to a battle cry and give a short sort of smirk or grin. [OOC I don't think I was close enough to attack this round]

Trace is bashed again by Big Bear and this time is not able to avoid the bear hug. Blood is now pouring freely out of Trace's mouth. Even though Trace's movement is limited he finds that he can still manuver his short sword and jambs deep into bears back and then gives it a nice hard twist inside.(critical hit 18hps dmg.). Radiant continues to dart in and out and if hits adds one more hp dmg.
Ael (Shield between him and the front door) 2d4(2+2)=4 d20+2=13 d20+5=11 Wednesday February 28th, 2001 10:07:39 PM
Ael sighs and says "Well, we'd better get out there and help...", slipping out of the door in the darkness as he heads for the large crate. (Move silently check meets DC 13)
Making out Sly's combat ahead near the door, the mage stops just north and a bit east of the crate and reaches into his component pouch (which is fortunately on his belt, which is fortunately on his person.)
He sprinkles a pinch of sand and a few rose petals on the floor below him and intones "Elis Pax Somnus", letting his gaze fall on Orc #2.
(Sleep spell will effect a total of 4 HD, centered on Orc #2. I _think_ that 5 and 6 are within 15' of him, so I'm not sure who will be effected...I just hope those Orcs are under 5 HD *grin*)

He moves towards Sly and the orcs (35' travelled) while unslinging his waraxe and shield from his back and readying his weapons. He shouts in orcish, "Over here, you stupid, weak, smelly orcs! Come and face a real foe! It takes all four of you to face one half-elf?"

As soon as he has his silver ball together the halfling grabs his orc fighting dagger from his right wrist sheath and holds the magical ball in his right hand as he runs to the best of his ability towards the fray. The halfling begins angleing to the north hoping that if he does, he'll be able to make his closest opponent Orc #2. Then he'd be able to say Terrific!! at the the point when he was closer to the orc than Sir Thomas before joining the fray in full. Remembering how just moments ago he was deep in the embrace of sleep, Lok becomes angry with himself. His friends were out here dying while the halfling had been snugly in his bed. Why hadn't he heard the commotion. What was wrong with him anyways?

About halfway through his wild charge, Sir Thomas sees the silhouette of a mace swing at him out of the darkness, as the shadow-hidden Orc #7 takes an attack of opportunity. He scores a critical hit to the paladin's right side, doing 2+3=5 hp as his target runs past.
Sir Thomas also runs staight into the quarrel of #5's readied crossbow shot, taking a further 5 hp of damage. He reaches the edge of Sly's torchlight. The unarmored, sword-brandishing paladin is AC 7 until his next turn. (base 10 -1 Dex -2 for running.)
Orc #4 takes 13 hp damaged from Sly's masterful swing. He dies wondering just where the puny half-elf has hidden that horseshoe.
Bear's blood coats Trace's hand, and the big orc's hairy face twists in frustration.
Ael gets a little outside the door before stopping to cast his spell. Orc #2 slumps soundlessly to the floor. Outside, Trace can see Orc #5 collapse, dropping his crossbow to the street.
Lok runs just past the crate, and Uteva stops near Ael with her lantern, lighting up the back half of the warehouse.
Orc #1 seems to laugh when Altemia appears before him, empty-handed. . .
Silent Attack, R4 - Opponents Actions (DM Lee) d20+12=26 d3+8=10 Thursday March 1st, 2001 2:27:01 PM
Abruptly, normal sounds return for Trace, Radiant, Altemia, and Kevil. They hear the trailing end of Ilsidur's shout, and the approaching sound of galloping hooves.
Bear roars in broken Common, "Squish you, brother-killer!" He crushes Trace a final time, then releases him and steps back. (Trace, beat grapple of 26 or take 10 points of subdual damage and fall unconscious.) The big orc holds his empty hands out before him in a non-threatening manner and shouts, "Champions 452, retreat!" Then, in harsh orcish, "Run. Leave the elf vermin!"
Orc #1 mutters something in his own tongue, spits, and puts up his axe. Empty-handed, he backs toward Bear, keeping a wary eye on Altemia and Kevil.
Orc #6 sees this and, looking relieved, props his crossbow over his shoulder and joins them. The unarmored orc is careful to give Sly a wide berth.
The three orcs stand together in the middle of the street, not threatening, holding out their empty hands.
Suddenly, a huge warhorse comes charging from the north end of the street, it rears in front of the orcs, and neighs a powerful challenge. Thomas experiences a bizarre moment of double vision, seeing the shadow of horse and orcs out in the street, and at the same time seeing the orcs looming right beside him, and himself standing in his nightclothes in the torchlit warhouse doorway.
Sly is still affected by Silence.
Ilsidur sees Orc #7, over by the stacked crates, return his mace to his belt and raise his hands. He looks around calmly.
Sly Foxx and Sleeping Luke Thursday March 1st, 2001 2:59:14 PM
After his swing, Sly turning and stumbles out the door. Sly spots Big Bear and Sly yell at him," " But no sound comes out, just as well there are ladies in this party. Sly looks past the Orcs and sees Trace on the ground, unconscious. Sly staggers and stumble to Trace's side, dropping his sword on his way there.
Ilsidur Thursday March 1st, 2001 9:53:34 PM
Ilsidur moves over in front of orc #7 [double move 30' or 35', as close to #7 as possible], and shouts in orcish, "Fall down on your face, you stinking back-stabbing maggot! Fall on your face, or feel my axe blade bite into your weak little body! Don't even think about moving those hands, or grabbing your mace!"
Sir Thomas d20=1 Thursday March 1st, 2001 10:10:18 PM
Thomas doesn't like taking the painful shots from unseen sources, but charges through them with a goal in mind. Having previously hoped to take out orc #2 Thomas sees that creature lying on the ground as he nears it. Being so far past the unseen orc #7 Thomas continues to charge out into the street. He sees the huge horse standing in the dim light of the night and smiles a knowing smile. Thomas appears to otherwise disregard the horse. Having taken a very quick survey of the scene of the street Thomas continues to charge for the small gathering of orcs. Thomas recognized the large orc called Bear when that creature's outline was visible from just inside the door of the warehouse. He makes no hesitation as he takes a mighty double handed slash at the large creature. [OOC: It looks to me that I only had about 50' to my target from my previous position. that's half of my movement so I can still attack right?] (rolled a 1. that's rediculous! for a total of a 9 after my melee addition.)

The halfling keeps his dagger ready as he keeps running towards the door wishing to get outside where most of the real danger is. However when the halflling sees orc 7 he decides the time for action is already near. As he nears the orc he screams "Terrific!" The silver ball shoots from his hand (4 damage and sv vs stun) hitting the orc straight in the forehead. Hoping that the ball has stunned the orc enough the halfling leaps at the orc trying to restrain him(roll of 15 for melee hope that's the right roll). As he does so he shouts for Ilsidur to come tie the orc up.
Uteva Friday March 2nd, 2001 12:28:03 PM
Dagger in one hand, lantern in the other, Uteva cautiously accompanies Ael towards the door, swerving to avoid Orc #7. "What's going on?" she mutters to Ilsidur as they reach him.
Altemia and Kevil (+3 to att/+1 to dmg, charging) d20+6=22 d6+2=6 Friday March 2nd, 2001 2:51:06 PM
Altemia turns to aid Trace, but sees Sly on the way there to the same thing. She sees her new friends still carrying on the attack. Thinking quickly she decides on a course of action.
"Tiny Viper, I call you to help!" She says moving her hands quickly. She places the Viper as close to the Orc that was attacking Trace as possible (OOC: behind it if not out of range). She also motions to Kevil to attack once again, pointing at the orc who was attacking Trace and seemed to be the leader of the group.
Kevil charges at the orc leader and takes a bite at him (6 points dmg). Kevil then attempts to trip the large ungainly orc.

The warehouse door is left in dim starlight as Sly moves away with his torch. He finds Trace breathing, and a bit bloody about the nose. The Elf's fallen weapons are blooded, and a confused Radiant perches on his friend's chest.
Even with the +2 attack bonus from his charge, Sir Thomas misses his swing at the silhouette of the big orc. (A natural 1 is always a miss. Sir Thomas' unarmoured movement is 30'; he can move twice that in a charge action.)
The summoned viper appears on the street in front of Bear and, undirected, just lies there hissing.
Unable to see the orcs very well, Kevil has to go on scent. He ends up attacking Orc #1 (rolled even/odd). The orc manages to keep his feet. (Beat Kevil's 12 strength check with a 13)
When Ilsidur gets close to Orc #7, he can see that it has a scroll tucked into his belt, and a large patch sewn onto the front of his tunic. It's a simple crest emblazoned with, "CP 452".
Lok's dagger translates the Dwarf's shouting for him. "He said, 'Down on the ground, scumbag, and keep your hands up.' He was more artistic about it, though. This guy really knows how to treat Orcs, doesn't he?"
Ael finds can't assess Luke's condition from this distance (DC 18), and once Sly moves away, he can hardly see the doorway. (From previous turn - Sorry Tim.)
When Lok speaks his command word, the silvery ball quivers but remains in his hand. (Can't strike a target the halfling can't see.) Lok didn't hear the orc shifting in the dark (Listen check of 3), and he is unable to guess its location (50% miss chance for concealment). He ends up throwing himself at the stacked crates, taking 2 hp of bruising subdual damage.
Only when Uteva arrives with the lantern can the other characters see the orc at all. . .
It's Getting Crowded Around Here (DM Lee) d20+3=22 d6+2=8 Friday March 2nd, 2001 5:05:42 PM
The big bear of an orc snarls, "Another day, little man." The cluster of orcs moves into the alley across from the warehouse door, empty hands still raised. They stop at its mouth as a crowd of people come running from the north end of the street, lighting up the area with torches and lanterns.
The horse is revealed as a magnificent stallion, 18 hands at the shoulder, with powerful hindquarters and a water-darkended coat. He wheels on the orcs, sending drops of water flying everywhere, and kicks out at Bear, hitting with a 22 and doing 8 hp damage.
Shouts errupt from the crowd.
"There it is!"
"It's attacking someone!"
"Way! Make way for the Guard!"
"Shoot it; shoot it!"
A handful of Northook guards emerges at the forefront of the crowd. Two aim drawn bows at the stallion, while the one in the plumed helm surveys the situation. "What is going on here?" she demands.
The stallion tosses his head and meets Sir Thomas' gaze with one deep, intelligent eye.
Inside the warehouse, the unarmored orc ignores threats and unwarranted attacks, and heads for the commotion outside. (Provokes an attack of opportunity from Ilsidur.) He keeps his hands up the whole time, and stops between the two sleeping orcs.
Sly Foxx and Sleeping Luke d20+1=9 Friday March 2nd, 2001 7:16:33 PM
(ooc:miss, but got bears attention) Sly is on his knees and after his shock at seeing trace so beat up. Sly knowing that Trace always carry a vile of healing potion (in case Sly gets hurt) Sly look through Trace pouch and yes it was there. Sly opens the vile and put the vile up to his lips, hoping that Trace will naturally drink the potion. Sly turns to see the Bear backing his way into the ally. Sly pick up a road apple and throws it at Bear to get his attention. When Bear glances at him. Sly (using Hunters Sign Language) sign= I killed your brother along with Quint, Trace, Sir Thomas and the rest of the party. You have a lot to answer for.= Then turn and tries to pick up his Big Brother. But Sly is too feeble to pick him up.
Ael (Shielded toward the Orc Cluster) d20+2=15 Friday March 2nd, 2001 10:07:58 PM
Ael continues hurredly across the building and takes stock of the situation upon reaching the door. (Wisdom Check meets DC15)
Perceiving that the Orcs are not fighting, he stands watch in a nonthreatening manner and fingers a small piece of web in his pouch. If the Orcs attempt escape or violence, his comrades will not be without mage support.
Lok Mufflefoot d20+4=21 Saturday March 3rd, 2001 9:58:50 AM
Giggling at the dagger Lok says to it "Yes he does he's quite an articulate dwarf." Then he becomes more serious as he approaches the orc.
Nearing the orc standing near his sleeping bretheren the halfling stalks in trying to figure out what to do next. Full well knowing that the fight was over he walks over to the Orc whom he'd missed and says in an initimidating voice (intimidate check rolled 21) "You better tell me everything you know! Everything!" Knowing that the fight was over he hoped the blabbering creature would spill the beans about why this fight kept happening.
Trace and Radiant 3d8(2+2+5)+5=14 d8+5=11 Saturday March 3rd, 2001 11:55:09 AM
Trace begins to see again as he comes out of the blanket that had overtaken him.(vile of serious wounds = 14hps recovered.) Trace is able to sit up and drag himself over to the wall to lean aginst. He looks up and puts a weak hand to Sly's face, "Thank you little brother, but did I kill that foul pice of trash?" Trace turns his head and coughs and spits blood from his mouth and begins to fumble around to look for more healing potion in his pouch. He finds another vile of healing and drinks(cures 11 hps dmg.) Trace then pulls himself up to rest and makes his way over to the others bleeding and calls out to the onlookers, "Dont let those bandit orcs get away!" After that outburst Trace bends over in a coughing fit and takes one knee to hold his ground while leaning on his longsword.
Sir Thomas Saturday March 3rd, 2001 12:38:18 PM
Thomas curses in his mind at the situation that has developed. However badly he wants to continue to make this group pay for their attack on him and his friends, Thomas knows that he has no choice on what to do next. He looks at the horse frantically and it then makes it's way for the warehouse door. THomas moves quickly and in somewhat of a panic, still panting from his trip from the sleeping quarters, to stand in front of the large horse and wave his arms and draw attention. "This is my horse! He is my friend!! Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" Thomas moves about in front of the horse, waving his hands making it very difficult to get a clean shot at his friend until he makes it into the warehouse where it is concealed from the guards. Thomas then levels his sword at the retreating orc band. and yells, "Those are your culprits. They have attacked us and tried to gain unlawful access into this warhouse that we have been hired to protect. Don't let them get away!! They are thieves and cowards and have broken your laws." Thomas looks around the scene and sees that Trace is on his feet, however unsteadily, and all of his friends except Luke appear to be ok. THomas grimaces as he pokes and prods at the protruding quarrel and the tender spot where he took rather bad hits from cowardly orcs. Thomas stands, bloody and still in his pajamas, guarding the entrance to the warehouse. HIs sword is drawn, but he stands as if to pose no immediate threat to anyone.
Ilsidur Sunday March 4th, 2001 11:24:46 PM
Ilsidur pulls his holy symbol from around his neck, and tells orc #7, "Stand where you are!" [OOC: cast hold person, save vs DC 16]. If the spell does not work, he shouts, "Somebody stop this orc from escaping!" [OOC: "unwarranted attacks indeed, Lee-Anne?"]
Altemia and Kevil (+1 att/dmg) d20=19 Monday March 5th, 2001 12:01:49 PM
Altemia sees that the others have stopped their fighting and does the same.
She thinks to herself,"I wish they hadn't stopped fighting...this was getting fun."
She motions Kevil back to her and then begins to look for Tara. (Spot check 19)
Uteva Monday March 5th, 2001 1:03:52 PM
Teva hurries over to the door, squeezing in between Ael, Sir Thomas, the horse, and Orc #7. She grimaces as she arrives in the Silenced area.
DM Lee-Anne d20-1=6 Monday March 5th, 2001 2:35:44 PM
One of Madame Chloe's upstairs windows lights up, and a man in unlaced boots and a nightcap exits a shop across the street.
Sly's road apple gets about as far as the viper, which slithers determinedly after the orcs before disappearing. Bear pays no attention to the half-elf's signing, and Orc #7, being Silenced, doesn't hear Lok's threats from behind him. He reaches out to nudge #5 awake, but freezes with his foot in the air (failed Will save). Beyond him, Altemia can easily see Tara curled up on the now-brightly-lit street.
At Sir Thomas' accusations, the archers train their bows on the cluster of orcs. Bear, his hands still raised, steps forward and speaks.
"We are Champions Protector 452." He points to a small patch sewn on his shoulder. "Block protectors for this block. We see elfs and wolfs loitering here. Suspicious. We check them out. Quiet. Sleepy spells for the wolf. That elf," and he gestures toward Trace, "attack me. So, we fight. We protect Madame Chloe's property, not some bunch of elfs."
Bear's disdainful snear spoils his injured tone, but more of the guards pull out bows, and aim them at the visible party members. Their plumed captain closes her eyes briefly and let's out an exaggerated sigh. She raises her voice to parade-ground volume. "Enough. I want everybody out where I can see them, on the double. Everybody out that alley, and out of the warehouse. You," she turns to Bear, "452. Let's see your Champions' card. And you lot," she glowers at Sir Thomas, "had better have an employment card of Madame Chloe's."
In the doorway, Ael, Sir Thomas, the stallion, and Uteva can't hear a thing. (For the next few minutes, characters coming within 15' of Orc #5's square are affected by the lingering Silence spell.) From here, Ael can easily see that Luke is still breathing, and shows no obvious signs of injury.
Sir Thomas Monday March 5th, 2001 4:09:56 PM
Sir Thomas stands in the silence, wondering why he can't hear anything even though people seem to be talking in the street. He pays that little tid-bit of information no attention since he has a responsibility to protect his new friend, his friends inside the warehouse, and his friends down the street. He'll not leave his self-designated post for any reason while the guards have their bows out and pointing around threateningly, nor will he leave until the threat of the orcs has subsided and they are still walking about freely. Thomas looks at Bear and his group of orcs and tries to determine what kind of intent they had for their attack. (detect evil)
Thomas' horse walks deeper into the warhouse to be out of site of the archers in the street. He positions himself to be in good shape should the orcs wake up and want to cause trouble.
Altemia Monday March 5th, 2001 4:55:08 PM
Altemia moves forward slowly toward the captain of the guard.
"We do have an employment card. Sir Thomas, over there, has it. Although it may be inside in the apartment." She points at Sir Thomas when she speaks about him and motions him to come forward.
"Madame Chloe hired us earlier today to keep an eye on her warehouse. The wolves are mine and they will not harm you unless I let them. At least Kevil here won't. Tara can't since she was bespelled."
Altemia turns and looks at the bearish orc who had been speaking with a very unfriendly look in her eye.
Ael d'Gaiaim d20+2=13 d20+3=12 Monday March 5th, 2001 6:23:58 PM
Ael frowns when he sees the guard's lips move seemingly without generating sound. He moves forward to stand next to Altemia so he can hear whatever is going on.
He lets his hands fall to his sides in a nonthreatening manner, but is still prepared to unleash his (mighty?) magic if need be.
Trace and Radiant Monday March 5th, 2001 6:38:36 PM
Trace limps over to where Sir Thomas is and stands next to and behind him. Radiant flies over and lands on Traces shoulder.
Sly Foxx and Luke Monday March 5th, 2001 7:08:38 PM
Sly tells Trace, (in words and in Hunters Hand Sign)"No,Big Brother, HE [pointing to bear) is over there and telling a bunch of lies. But there's a City Guard over there wanting our employment card from Madame Chloe. And Sir Thomas is in his underoos." Then winks at Trace and whispers, "OH! how I know the feeling when we last met Mr. Bear. I have to go to see about Luke." Then to the Bird,"Take care of your friend here." With that said, Sly get to his feet, picks up his sword and heads to the warehouse to see after his dog. Passing the Captain of the Guards, tell her" I'll be right back, I have to see about my dog." Sly's eyes roll back into his head and passes out, dropping at her feet.
Ilsidur Monday March 5th, 2001 11:47:18 PM
Ilsidur grabs orc #7 by the collar and hauls him outside the doors. He talks to himself until he is outside the area of silence. On the way outside, he watches the large warhorse move past him into the warehouse, and thinks, "Oh great, another creature for the travelling menagerie." He looks down at the frozen orc and says, "Do you want to be my pet? It seems you need one to be in this group."
Once outside the door, he gently lowers the orc to the ground (Thump!), looks up at the city guard guard captain and says, "We know this smelly bear of an orc from outside of the city. He and his gang of stinking orcs ambushed us on the road here. It seems awfully suspect that he would suddenly show up as "champion" of the same city block that we have been hired to protect a business on. The elf and the wolves were on a patrol around the building, and were ambushed by spells, so of course we all fought back. These "champions" seem to attack first, and ask questions later. We all honestly thought these orcs were attacking us and the business we were hired to protect. All any of them had to do was approach one of us and ask us what we were doing here.
"One of our members has our chit, and I will go over and get Madame Chloe to come and vouch for us, if you will let me go over to her apartment." If the captain allows Ilsidur, he heads over to Chloe's apartment building and knocks on the door to ask for her help.
A Moment of Silence (DM Jerry) Tuesday March 6th, 2001 10:47:08 AM
...and for a moment all is silent in The Wold.
Uteva 2d8(2+7)+4=13 Tuesday March 6th, 2001 1:25:35 PM
Seeing Sly collapse, Teva cries, " !" and rushes over to the fallen half-elf. She falls to her knees by his side and, placing her hands over his wounds, sings a quiet song of healing. (Cure Moderate Wounds, 13 hp healed.)
"Do you see what these orcs have done to our friends? Are ruffians permitted to attack innocents inside the city as well as out?" The young woman looks like an outraged waif in her nightshirt and stockings.
The Guard Captain (DM Lee-Anne) Tuesday March 6th, 2001 2:21:20 PM
The three orcs shuffle out of the alley, and Bear points to #5. "Brod have our card." Sir Thomas is aware of several aurae of evil, the strongest of which is of moderate strength.
The guard captain narrows her eyes and begins snapping off orders. "Put up your bows, men. Sergeant, take two and secure that warehouse. I want everybody who's breathing out here. You can leave the animals, for now. Take this elf with you," she says, nodding to Altemia. "You get me that employment card please, miss.
"Corporal, see to this Brod fellow. You two, go with the dwarf. My compliments to Madame Chloe, and would she kindly join us to clear up a point of confusion. Gant," and she turns to glare at the guard behind her, "roust out the court monitor for this quarter. Be polite about it, this time."
The various guards move efficiently to carry out her instructions. One wakes orc #5 -- Brod, apparently -- who leaves his bolt case behind and joins the guard captain. The three with Altemia wake the last Sleeping orc and send him across the street to his companions.
Ilsidur and his escort reach Madame Chloe's door just as the lady herself throws it open to cry, "My shop! It's been robbed!"
Sly Foxx and Luke Tuesday March 6th, 2001 3:55:13 PM
Sly wakes up and looks into Uteva's eyes. He tell her,"Thank-you, Uteve, I owe you one." Sly shakes the fog out of his head and gets up off the ground. Picking up his sword and putting it away. " Sir Thomas are you shore we are getting paid enough?" ask Sly.
Lok Mufflefoot Tuesday March 6th, 2001 5:46:48 PM
The halfling eyes the orcs with complete distrust. He is quiet and watches the surroundings carefully for anything out of place. He really would've liked a chance to interview that orc, but he knew it would not be possible now. He watches with crossed arms as matters unfold.
Ael d'Gaiaim Tuesday March 6th, 2001 10:45:47 PM
Ael frowns at the current situation. (Picking it up as it happens now that he has exited the area of silence.)
Moving closer to Uteva, he mutters "Didn't Chloe say that she has guards for the shop? I wonder if we may have inadvertantly supplied a destraction...you have delt with these Orcs before? I assume they are not the type to offer themselves up for such a duty without ...unpleasant intentions?"
Uteva Wednesday March 7th, 2001 1:37:02 PM
The bard pulls Sly and Ael out of easy earshot of the guards. "Our previous encounters with them have been -- slim on conversation. They certainly haven't shown sign of noble intentions before: slavery, dealings with evil cultists, and this isn't the first surprise night raid." She nods her head in Bear's direction. "The big one ran the last time a fight went against him."
Teva scratches at the back of one calf with the other foot, and hugs herself against the chill night. "It's a safe bet they're up to no good now."
Altemia and Kevil Wednesday March 7th, 2001 2:12:13 PM
Looking over her shoulder at Tara lying on the ground, she wants to go to her, but now is not the time. She needs to get that employment card. She takes the guards with her into the warehouse after stopping to ask Sir Thomas where it was. Inside she leads the guards back to the apartment that she and her friends are using and retrieves the card for the captain.
Hearing the cry of Madame Chloe, she hurries back outside to see what has happened.
Sir Thomas (Ceil) Wednesday March 7th, 2001 2:50:51 PM
With his arms across his chest, ask of the guard "Can I atless go and put my pants on?"
Ilsidur Wednesday March 7th, 2001 7:33:23 PM
Ilsidur steps back, right into the two accompanying guards, as Madame Chloe throws open the door. "Your shop has been robbed? Who or what did you have guarding the shop? We were focussing on protecting the warehouse, and were ambushed by this gang of orcs led by a big bear of an orc we have had run-ins with before. I am certain now that the bear orc was a diversion to keep us out of the way of whomever was planning to rob your store."
Ilsidur leads Madame Chloe over to the guard captain, to help try to straighten things out. "My lady", he addresses the captain, "I think that if you asked this bear-orc some 'pointed' questions, you might get to the bottom of the situation. I suggest you separate all the orcs and question them individually, to see if they each give the same story. I can assure you that we all will."
Trace and Radiant Wednesday March 7th, 2001 7:38:22 PM
Trace stands by and waits with the others and chimes in when nesscary.
Questions in the Street (DM Lee-Anne) Thursday March 8th, 2001 1:59:52 PM
Brod the orc responds in surprisingly unaccented Common. "More likely, it was you interlopers who served to distract us while the shop was robbed. After all, the Champions 452 serve as the rightful proxies for the citizens in this block."
Madame Chloe follows Ilsidur, looking furious, while two of the Northook guard move in to check out her shop. "I had two thugs in the shop. They're both dead, and the whole place has been turned inside out! I don't understand. I didn't hear anything from upstairs until all the shouting out here."
One of the Guard returns with the robed Court Monitor in tow. He examines the employment and Champion cards and briefly questions Chloe, who points out that her employees have agreed to be questioned under a Truth spell.
Finally, the Court Monitor nods. "I'm satisfied that both groups had reason to protect this property. You -- Brod. Were the Protectors 452 involved in this robbery of the shop? Did you attack these people unprovoked?"
Brod replies, "Certainly not. We are the Madame's Champions. We used non-lethal spells in order to approach them safely. They attacked first." For an orc, he looks positively offended.
"And you people -- Who was actually involved in the conflict? I'd like to question you by magical means."
Lok Mufflefoot Thursday March 8th, 2001 4:33:56 PM
The halfling approaches the monitor saying "Excuse me. I was asleep during this incident, but let me ask you this. Why was this Bear orc fellow involed in selling slaves? Question me under a truth spell and I'll show you it's true He was selling some of this city's inhabitants even." The halfling looks furious at the bear orc seeming to stomp some to emphasize his words just like a child.
Sir Thomas Thursday March 8th, 2001 6:12:37 PM
"Question away." said Sir Thomas,"Then mabe I'll be able to put my pants on."
Sly Foxx and Luke Thursday March 8th, 2001 6:16:58 PM
"I'll be glad to answer any question"said Sly"but I would like to see to my war dog first." Then rubs his tommy and ask"Does any one have a cookies?"
Ael d'Gaiaim Thursday March 8th, 2001 7:21:59 PM
Ael steps forward, nodding to the guard. "I too shall be glad to submit to a truth spell."
Trace and Radiant Thursday March 8th, 2001 7:50:01 PM
I will answer questions under a sleep spell also but inorder to get the real answers the orcs need to be done the same way. Trace stands there eyeing Bear in defiance.
Altemia and Kevil Friday March 9th, 2001 10:06:44 AM
Altemia nods when asked to submit to the truth spell.
"I was a part of the fighting at the end. I will submit."
After saying this quickly, she can no longer keep herself from her friends side and she and Kevil hurry over to Tara to see how she is.
Ilsidur Friday March 9th, 2001 1:01:14 PM
"I too will submit to your magical questioning, but not here in the street. We are new to this city, and have discovered that it is acceptable to murder children outside your gates while pursuing an alleged criminal, and that you hire evil slavers as street guards, if the bear orc's story holds true. Now suddenly a person shows up claiming to also be a city guard, and asking us to submit to magical powers. I will need to be taken to the location of the city government before I will submit to such a process."
"We would also like you to know that the first attack carried out was by the orcs firing magical silence arrows at my friends who were patrolling around the outside of the shop. Why would a legitimate patrol, such as the orcs claim to be, want to carry out their legal duties in a silenced area? Any city watch I am familiar with wants to make as much noise as possible, to summon other watch members. Many of them carry whistles to notify other watch members. Something in the orcs' story just doesn't add up."
Uteva Saturday March 10th, 2001 2:01:23 PM
Uteva nods. "I'll allow enspelled questioning, of course, but I'm afraid I witnessed none of the fighting."
She steps over to Madame Chloe and takes the lady's arm. "What was taken from your shop? I'm so sorry we weren't able to stop the thieves. Shall we sort through the damage and set things to right?" Teva leads Chloe back toward her shop.
Questions in the Street (DM Lee-Anne) Saturday March 10th, 2001 2:07:10 PM
Brod sneers at Trace. "We can't be required to submit to magical questioning unless we are formally charged with a crime." He turns back to the Monitor to continue, "We were injured, and two of our companions killed, because we were not informed that Madame Chloe had hired outside champion help. The Champions Protector 452 claim formal grievance in this matter."
When she hears this, Madame Chloe gasps and sags, leaning much of her weight on Uteva's arm.
The Court Monitor listens to everything with eyes half-closed, looking almost bored. Finally, he speaks. "This Dwarf has made a most civil suggestion. All persons involved are to present themselves at the court offices in the morning, at the second hour. Until the dispute has been settled, Madame Chloe's property is under the strictures of formal Challenge. Captain Derru, I shall expect your report."
With that, the man takes his leave, and the crowd, deprived of its entertainment, also disperses. The Northook Guards allow the orcs to collect their dead and their equipment, then the Champions Protector 452 also leave the area.
Captain Derru watches them go, frowning, then turns to Lok. "If you have evidence of slavery occurring withing the city walls, I'd like to hear it. You can't be questioned about it tomorrow, because it's unrelated to this dispute." The woman's voice changes to a growl. "I don't like having the 452 in my sector. And I'll thank you all not to confuse the Northook Guard with privately hired champions."
She warns Sir Thomas, "I'll let the matter of the horse slide, tonight. Please keep your mount under control in the future. Unsupervised animals running amok interfere with good order." She accompanies Chloe and Uteva into the shop to investigate the robbery.
Tara and Luke wake up and join their friends.
Sir Thomas (Ceil) Sunday March 11th, 2001 7:01:31 PM
"Captain,I will not lie to you or any body else," said Sir Thomas,"I have met the one named Brod, only when we meet in an ambust, he was known as Bear. When last we met, He (Bear)vowed to kill us all. Now I bid you good night, we will see in the morn." with this said, Sir Thomas turn and walks back into the warehouse to put his pants on.
Ilsidur Sunday March 11th, 2001 7:08:03 PM
"Sir Thomas, I think you are mistaken. Bear orc and Brod were two different orcs. Brod seemed positively affronted that we had been hired by Madame Chloe. Perhaps he was only doing what he thought was right, and had hired some other muscle (Bear orc, maybe?) that steered him into attacking us. Captain, you really need to take a hard look at that bear orc. I am fairly sure he is the key to all of this."
Ilsidur folows the captain and the ladies into the shop, and says, “I don’t understand, are the orcs working for the city or not? Who would hire these champions? Maybe if we find that out, we can find who needed the distraction to rob Madame Chloe’s place. If Madame Chloe hired us to guard her shop and warehouse from attack, why does she have to let every private hired army in the area know? That sounds ridiculous.”
“Captain, I think you might have made a mistake letting the orcs take their dead with them. In my experience as a priest, I have found that the dead often tell the most truthful tales, if questioned about the circumstances of their death.”
Sly Foxx and Luke Sunday March 11th, 2001 7:16:19 PM
Sly bends down and scratches and pets Luke. Tell the Captain. "The girl that ask for our help, back in mud city. Was very scared, and told us that someone was forceing her to do some thing ileagle, or that her brother was going to die in jail." Said Sly," She kept her word, she never tole us what or who it was or what they wanted her to do." Sly turn and started to go to Madam Chloe, But turned again and said to the Captain,"There was a little disagreement back at Mud City, that where the chiled was killed, and if you ask us who did it, I know you will not like the answer."
Trace and Radiant Sunday March 11th, 2001 10:31:14 PM
Trace turns and heads back to the warehouse to get a quick rest before heading to court. "Them orcs need to be made to go under a truth spell like us and if they don't that will make our point much stronger."
Ael d'Gaiaim Sunday March 11th, 2001 10:49:55 PM
Ael follows Uteva and Chloe back to the shop, frowning all the while. "Madame, do you have any direct competitors or enemies in the city? I wonder who sponsored or hired the Orcs are block champions...if that is indeed the case. Perhaps their 'investigation' was a ploy to draw us as a group out...and occupy us?"
Uteva d20+2=3 Monday March 12th, 2001 12:12:18 PM
"Madame Chloe, can you tell what's been taken? Are you sure you didn't see or hear anything?" Teva pokes around in the shop, not disturbing anything, but looking for evidence left by the thieves. She doesn't find anything unusual. (Search check of 3)
What a Mess! (DM Lee-Anne) Monday March 12th, 2001 1:10:50 PM
The shop is a shambles, with armour pieces tumbled everywhere, cupboards emptied, and shelves overturned. Even the little workshop in back has been rifled. Two large mounds of muscle lie buried in the wreckage: Madame Chloe's dead half-ogre thugs. One is near the front door, the other lies beneath the broken window at the back of the workshop. The odour of blood hangs heavy in the air.
Chloe sighs. "We -- the citizens of this block -- hired the Champions Protector 452. We thought that with orcs as our proxies, we would have fewer challenges from competitors, and that has been the case. It's true that I should have notified them about you, though I didn't expect you to come into contact." Chloe wrings her hands in frustration.
"Captain Berru, my guards' contract stipulated magical questioning. I'll handle the funeral arrangements afterward, if the responsible party isn't found."
The Captain nods. "That will help, Madame. As your employee has pointed out, the dead give honest answers. Unfortunately, I can't question any of the 452 without reasonable cause, and we've no evidence yet that they were involved in this." She gestures around at the mess.
"The laws of Hook City don't extend past its walls, so these things you say happened in Mud City are outside my jurisdiction. If the bigger fellow does have a personal vendetta against you, I can do nothing unless he commits a crime within the city."
"If you determine what's missing, Madame, it may help us track down the thief. As a formality, I'll leave two of my men to watch the Challenge area." Captain Berru details two to guard the warehouse door, and organizes the rest to remove the dead thugs. "Until the morning, then."
Sir Thomas (Ceil) Monday March 12th, 2001 6:51:28 PM
"Sly go inside and get into your special bedroll. You'll need a little sleep before we are questioned in a few hours." Then the paladin watches Sly going into the warehouse. Turning to Captain Berru, "You said that if some certain infomation would come to light, that it would go no further. Well, what my friend Sly is trying to tell you, is that back at Mud City, when this happened, there were four men wanting this girl. There were at least one or two Hook City Guards in that group. You have more trouble than a barrel of bees. I'll see you in the morning." Then Sir Thomas walks into the warehouse.
Sly Foxx and Luke Monday March 12th, 2001 6:56:46 PM
Sly rubs Luke,"OK! Boy let's take a little nap." Sly staggers into the warehouse and will get his bedrole, then both he and Luke will sleep for a while.
Trace and Radiant Monday March 12th, 2001 9:37:56 PM
Trace sleeps.......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Trace awakens a few hours later to get ready for the day with a bit of drewl on his face and his eyes crusty. He gets up and washes his face and stretches for the day. After giveing a prayer to Mittri he feeds himself and Radiant a quick sanck to hold them over.
Ael d'Gaiaim d20+6=16 Monday March 12th, 2001 9:57:55 PM
Ael works with Uteva and Chloe to clean up a little in the shop. He looks over the place to see if anything out of the ordinary can be found. (Search Check = 16)
Altemai, Tara, and Kevil Tuesday March 13th, 2001 5:57:56 AM
Altemia looks Tara over to make sure that she is okay. She looks around to see if there is anything she needs to do before grabbing a few hours sleep. She sees Uteva and Ael helping Madame Chloe and decides that she can spare the few hours after the battle and watch.
Instead of using one of the beds, she lays out her bedroll on the floor where she curls up with Tara and Kevil.
Ilsidur Tuesday March 13th, 2001 9:20:16 AM
Ilsidur looks up at the captain as she is leaving, and says, "Not involved in a crime? Nonsense! What about attacking legal guards at the warehouse with silence spells so no proper alarm could be raised, then casting sleep to disable us, then charging into the warehouse and attacking with deadly force once inside? They broke into the warehouse without knocking. They should have gone to Madame Chloe's house to ask if there was a problem, before they attacked. And those silence spells make absolutely no sense. You only use them when you don't want it known what you are doing (i.e. attacking us). This has got to be the most ridiculous set of laws I have ever heard of!"
Then he stomps back into the warehouse, to sleep for what remains of the night. It takes him a while to settle down, as angry as he is. [OOC: Assuming nothing else happens tonight, Ilsidur will take the same spells again for the new day.]
Uteva Tuesday March 13th, 2001 11:36:43 AM
Before everyone drops off to sleep, Teva pops into the back apartment and dresses. She returns to help Chloe and Ael for a while, then keeps watch until morning.
DM Lee-Anne Tuesday March 13th, 2001 12:04:25 PM
Ael notices that the floor beneath the broken back window is clear of broken glass; it is all on the ground outside.
Madame Chloe works in silence for a few hours, her frown growing more pronounced as her shop is sorted out. Finally, she calls a halt, thanking her helpers and returning upstairs to rest. She reappears in the morning, looking positively awful.
Two more of the Northook Constables arrive to help watch the shop while Chloe and her employees are away.
Sly Foxx & Luke Tuesday March 13th, 2001 5:18:19 PM
Sly, after sleeping a few hours, wakes up feeling better. He gets up, puts away his bedroll, feeds Luke and grabs his brand-new bar of magic(!) soap so that he can take a shower (or bath or whatever.) Then he joins the rest of the party for breakfast.
Ael d'Gaiaim d20+3=22 d20+5=17 d20+6=18 Tuesday March 13th, 2001 7:51:40 PM
Ael realizes that the glass being in that configuration probably means that an object was thrown out of the window for some reason. (Int Check: 22) He searches around outside and just inside for clues. (Spot: 17, Search: 18)
If he does not find anything spectacular, he will note his findings and head back to rest before things get nastier. (OOC: I assume he will not remem his spells since he was in combat, so...)
Trace and Radiant Tuesday March 13th, 2001 11:46:35 PM
Trace gets ready for the day wondering around the shop looking for anything that he can help with and still feeling a bit sore from that run in with the bear orc.
(ooc: I am showing Trace back to full strength after those healing potions and four hours of sleep.)
Lok Mufflefoot d20+9=11 Wednesday March 14th, 2001 7:42:05 AM
Lok makes a rather cursory check of the area of Madame Chloes shop (search roll 11). After finished the halfling grabs a few z's before the big day to come. Tommorow would be a very important day in his and his companion's lives. And what was going on with the bear orc....zzz.
Uteva Wednesday March 14th, 2001 1:56:49 PM
The slim girl helps to put breakfast together. "I think we need to talk some more about the -- ah -- package. I would like to return it today after we deal with this court business."
She listens to her friends' opinions, and joins them as they head out for the court offices.
