Dakar (Inivisible)
Friday March 2nd, 2001 4:49:01 PM

The dwarf wheels on those behind him and grits his teeth.
He utters off a quick spell of silence targeted at the center of the guards before he prepares to charge.
(OOC: I was invisible at the time the hail of arrows came flying at us, but I assume that was taken into account?)

Milo (Invisible)  d20+4=15 d20+14=33
Saturday March 3rd, 2001 1:00:06 PM

Using invisibility and his small stature to his advantage, Milo slips through the archers to the other side, and turns on his heel. Knowing that his battle worthy dwarven companion will engage the enemy, he waits to see Dakar come out of invisibility in order to flank the dwarf's chosen opponent. (OOC: Made a voluntary Dex check DC15 to get by the guards, and a Move Silently check DC33 to remain unnoticed in his invisible state.)

Fluet runs back up the stairs where he came from, hoping to avoid the onslaught. He prays that the invisible others can hold themselve's. As for him, he wasn't safe enough or healthy enough now for more pain.

With the aid of Dakar's silence spell, Olana somehow manages to get past the six guards blocking most of the stairwell, and is nearing her goal - the name on the door nearest to her says Taltrey. Eight doors further along she sees the name she is searching for. Using the skills she has acquired over the years, she takes a look at the keys she has and finds four keys that might work.

Figment sees nothing obvious that might be used to close the door remotely. As he approaches the magical shield and steps through he feels a major jolt and then he is through - the guards are already half way to the barrier themselves, and Figment's wand sprays a web that attempts to net all three.

Milo squeezes through the guards and stands to the rear waiting for his sign.

Fluet retreats and exits the stairwell.

K'nara is within range of her target and lets fly with her golden arrow and it flies true and as it strikes the wizard there is a shimmer as the arrow strikes home and a flash of lightning occurs. The injured Wizard and the remaining unwebbed guard hurry toward Figment, the guard stopping only for a moment to fire his crossbow at Figment striking AC16 for 7 points.

The Guards below fire another 6 arrows up the stairwell. Dakar is struck one time for 3 points.

"Oh, Domi spare me these pig-headed spellcasters..!!!" the leader of the Emerald Talons grumbled as Figment put himself directly in the line of fire of their foes.

K'nara reached for another arrow, this time drawing a "regular" magic arrow (OOC: it's only +1) and aiming, once more, for the wizard.

(OOC: rolled 23 to hit and 5hp damage if it strikes.)

Monday March 5th, 2001 12:55:13 PM

Eerily moving silently, the battle-hardened dwarf charges for his enemies, lashing out with his war axe and slicing a deep gouge in the archer's flesh (AC 19, 14 damage). (if that killed him, then): Felling one opponent, he turns to the next, as the first falls silently screaming. His axe lashes out again, again drawing forth blood. Now the enemy has a visitor to deal with, and they will find him to be quite a rude guest.

Olana
Monday March 5th, 2001 2:47:02 PM

The ranger races to the correct cell and begins to try keys. She looks down the stairwell to make sure there are no more guards. Then she whispers to the elder elf, "I am here to free you. Please be ready to come with me." She tries each of the four keys in the lock.

Seeing Dakar become invisible, Milo lines himself up, flanking an archer directly opposite the dwarf. (OOC: If Dakar dropped that first opponent, then I flank the second one that he squared off on.) Spinning his short sword in a deadly arc, Milo strikes the archer in a sneak attack. (OOC: Hit AC 20 and AC 27 which is a critical threat, but AC 11 I'm assuming misses, so not a critical hit. Total damage for the sneak attack is 18 hps.)

Ingrge  d20=9 d6=3
Monday March 5th, 2001 10:14:56 PM

Lining up along side K'nara, Ingrge says about the golden arrow shot, "Now that's what I call a real bolt." He then curses as he lets fly with an arrow of his own as, due to the haze, he's not really sure if it hits or not (AC 19, for 4 points).

Shad automatically reached for his bow, only to remember he'd left most of his gear behind. "Goddess bless it! Well, if he can do it..." The priest charged out after the wizard (or the guard if the wiz is already dead), thrusting brutally with his trident (charge 40ft, Shad AC16, hit AC29, damage15).

Tuesday March 6th, 2001 6:16:20 PM

Olana whispers to Tremaine and is answered with a soft croak. "I'm not sure how much help I will be in getting out. My legs have been bound for the past four days and I no longer have any feeling in them." On her third try she finds the right key and opens the door. She is appalled at what she sees. First off even she has to stoop down to get in to the cell and once she does she can't stand up. In front of her, bound hand and foot is what appears to be an old human male. There are bruises and burns all over his body and patches where he is caked in dried blood.

Dakar's first attack rocks the archer he faces and the second attack just about cuts him in half, as he falls to the ground a bloody mess.

Almost at the same time another archer is attacked from behind by Milo, and his strike must have found a home in something vital, for this archer also falls to the ground dead.

Having been caught by surprise by invisible foes, all the archers can do is swing their bows like unwieldy clubs. Two do so with little success, but the other two turn and run back down the stairs drawing their swords as they retreat.

Almost at the same time and even shooting through their own people,(-3) the approaching wizard is struck by K'nara's and Ingrge's arrows and Figment's magic missiles and goes down hard not to move again.

Shad charges through the ward and feels a major jolt as he passes through, but still manages to skewer a guard, but in doing so draws the guard's ire. The guard cursing as he is run into by Shad, curses again as he drops his sword on the ground.

Fluet manages to find a quiet and fairly dark place near the stair well to hide.

Olana hears running footsteps coming down the stairs quickly.

The mage casts 3 more magic missiles at the guard standing before Shad - hoping to prevent his ally from being attacked at all (4+5+3=12) DMG. He then moves over to the fallen wizard and begins relieving him of any "no longer need possesions". He tries to steer clear of Shad and the guard - even if he has no weapon drawn just now. He grabs the wand he used allow them to pass through the barrier - and anything else of value or magical he can find.

The wiley elf pulls the cell door ALMOST closed - sure that the guards won't be looking too close at it just now... Once they pass, she approaches the man in surprise whispering "I thought you were an elf - not a human...". She immediately cuts him loose and pulls out a potion of healing and water. She looks around to see if she notices any traps - just in case (DC 23, Search+Int).

His mouth forms the words

Wednesday March 7th, 2001 8:37:30 AM

Eyeing the scene of battle before her, K'nara withdraws towards the spiral stairway and yells down:

"Hurry it UP! We got COMPANY!!!" Then she switched her bow for her sword and ran out to the fracas on the bridge, yelling as she did so:

"Lucia!" The woman warrior's sword flared to life as she approached the battle.

(OOC: I don't think K'nara can shout AND attack at the same time, but I rolled in case you believe she can, o mighty DM--which, I must admit, I hope she CAN--that is some SERIOUS damage if she hits! ;D)

Turning to face the bow swinging archer, Milo smiles as he steps up and his short sword becomes a blur, lashing out at his would-be attacker. (OOC: I'm positive that AC10 misses, but if AC18 hits then he takes 4 hps)

The incredible strength he'd prayed for earlier made it easy for Shad to punch his trident into the guard again, casually ignoring the attempted parry. The tines of the trident bit deep (Hit AC28, damage12).

Ingrge
Wednesday March 7th, 2001 7:55:26 PM

Muttering a curse about moving interference, Ingrge puts away his bow and looks around for his staff, wondering where Olana had placed it. Finally seeing it resting near the guardroom door, Ingrge retrieves it and heads toward the exit along with the Lucia-wielding K'nara, and grins as they reach the barrier.

As Figment's missiles go off and strike the guard just as Shad skewers him again. The struck guard collapses in a pile on the ground. As Figment searches the wizard, suprisingly there is no wand. And only a ring and two daggers are really of any interest.

Olana closes the door and moves to Tremaine. After she pours the potion down him he looks a bit better but still looks very weak and not very mobile. He also sounds better as he says, No, as far as I know I have always been human. I have many friends that are elves though." No traps are sighted.

Dakar swings at the guard who is quickly drawing his sword and connects. The guard in turn swings and misses as he was trying to rush things a bit.

Milo's second attack strikes home on his foe and he is rewarded with a grunt. The guard, having dropped his bow, tries for a quick draw strike and misses.

Dakar and Milo hear K'nara's call from above.

Olana helps a still wobbly but much healthier looking Tremaine out of the door and starts up the stairs slowly. He is definitely leaning on her for support but is kind of walking on his own.

Dakar's opponent is bleeding profusely but is still standing his ground but misses with his return stroke.

The other Guard grins at Milo and with a mighty swing of his sword missed the diminutive one.

Figment and K'nara reach the bridge house and find the door shut but web free. As Figment reaches for the handle he is greeted with a severe jolt, as a bolt of electricity surges through his body for 22 points of damage (reflex save for 1/2 damage DC 16).

Shad dumps the mage and the dead guard off the bridge. The remaining guard struggles in his webbing.

Ingrge goes as far as the barrier but does not exit the prison.

The slept guards are now awake, the ones in the guard room wake up noisy and their webbed companions wait for the "bomb" to go off. When it doesn't they really start struggling.

The human bladesinger frowns, looking at the door that just zapped the Talons' wizard.

"Should *I* try to open it, too, or is it still trapped, you think..?" she asked. As she waited for the mage's opinion, K'nara glanced back at the bridge, where Shad was quite efficiently taking care of the casualties there and then beyond the bonze to where Ingrge was.

Figment drinks his potion and all of his injuries seem to vanish. (back at full points)

Olana and Tremaine's progress is slow but steady and they have reached the "Ps". They hear sounds of combat up the stairs and soft conversation and steps somewhere behind them.

Dakar's attack sends his opponent crashing into the wall and he slumps down but is obviously not dead. At Dakar's second attack, the guard barely even gets his sword up in time for even a partial block and pays the ultimate cost as Dakar's cleave truly does just that.

Milo's opponent grins at the little fellow as he swings his readied blade and then they are both covered by blood and brain matter of Dakar's opponent and the guard's strike misses Milo again.

Ingrge watches the trio outside to see what is going on.

Tuesday March 13th, 2001 2:40:32 PM

(Forgive me if I get some of this wrong.)

Down in the spiral dungeon - Olana, the limping Tremaine, and the fearsome twosome of Milo and Dakar head up the spiral passage. If they're quick, they can get back up to the surface in two rounds. They can all hear the sounds of fighting above.
At this moment there are no signs of any more guards down in the dungeon. Either they are hiding to strike - or they're dead.

Up at the surface level in the prison - Ingrge is set upon by the remaining two gaurds facing him.(One swings wildly, distracted by the approaching K'Nara - the othere barely misses).
The other three are in the process of trying to release the sleeping entrance guards. Two of them break off this task as K'Nara comes hurtling over the bridge and into the prison, and get into a position to meet her. K'Nara is now within combat distance.
Fluet, in a partial trance - sees a whirl of action going on before him from his place of hiding. It's a surreal scene, and it ain't getting any better. Maybe there's another way out... and maybe there isn't.

Out at the other side of the barrier, Shadrach and Figment suddenly feel a chill.
Something isn't right.
A disembodied voice coming from nearby whispers...
"If you value your life, stay perfectly still."
Shadrach has heard this voice before - a while ago - in a not particularly good situation.
(Shad and Figment - roll an INT check)

The mage hears the voice and decides not to move - except to quaff another potion (shield potion). He sniffs the air and looks for any signs of an invisible creature. He also analyzes the tamber of the voice to try and determine how big the creature may be (i.e. a whisper from a man-sized creature is easily distinguished from a giant sized creature). He makes sure he only has a quick step to get off into the dry moat. He doesn't look down into it to try and mask his intention. (Since he crossed the moat and saw Shad depositing the fallen into it, he should easily know how deep it is.). Dakar, Milo, Olana and Tremaine reach the base of the final stairwell that opens up into the surface level of the prison.
From their vantage point, they can see Ingrge battling against two opponants and a dead body of a guard by his feet.
There are sounds of battle further inside the room too.
It will take this round to get into position - combat next round.

"Someone give me a weapon!" says Tremaine urgently.
By the light coming from above it can be seen now that his wounds have been healed - he's not an old man at all, although he is currently staggering about like one due to muscle atrophy.
There is a determined gleam in steel blue eyes below a mess of cropped brown hair.

On the surface level - Ingrge and K'Nara battle grimly with the guards.
K'Nara's blade strikes hard at one of her two opponants, causing him to stagger back, but he's not quite down yet. One of them manages to hit K'Nara for 6 DAM. Ingrge connects with one of his attackers, causing a howl of pain. They swing back but fail to connect.
Over by the entrance - a guard is frantically trying to wake and let loose his three fellows.
"C'mon! Wake up, or the dragon will have us all!" he yells, slapping their faces.
One of them wakes and starts to wriggle.

Outside the prison at the other side of the bridge - as Figment glances into the moat, he notices a female figure in long robes who has apparently climbed down there. She looks to be hiding, whispering to herself, and looking toward the prison entrance.
There is still a feeling of menace here, silent, waiting. And the the voice says to Figment and Shadrach.
"Tell your friends to come out. Nice and slow."
While lying on the ground, it comes to Shad where he's heard that voice before. It is the voice of Mop.

The mage decides to press his luck and races back into the prison hoping the owner of the voice is not near enough to attack him. He tries to make sure that he doesn't betray the presence of the priestess below as he moves. He breaks left once inside the gate so he can see the group of guards trying to loosen the bonds of his comrades. He pulls out a rotten egg and casts. A green noxious cloud appears in the center of the guards not engaged with K'Nara and Ingrge (Sinking Cloud). He tries to get them all - not cutting them any slack this time. He then looks back to see if this new threat reveals himself adding to the others "We've got a new invisible threat at the gatehouse!".

Thursday March 15th, 2001 11:29:38 AM

Olana, Milo, Dakar and Tremaine arrive at the top of the steps to see the following -

Ingrge has two opponants - one of which falls to the ground quite dead after being skewered by Inrge's sword. The remaining man swings wide again, missing the elf.
K'Nara is a whirl of death and destruction, cutting an already wounded man to pieces, leaving her with only one foe. This foe, fighting desperately, manages to get through her defences for 6 dam.

However - over by the main door, the guard there has successfully roused his three tied up comrades. One of them is up and ready for battle, the other two, plus the one freeing them succomb to Figment's stinking cloud.

Fluet's investigation of the guardroom reveals nothing but tables, chairs, dead guards and webs - which he dare not go near unless he gets stuck. There are other places to investigate however, such as the prisoners processing room.

Back down in the spiral dungeon, where the "T prisoners" are kept - the two guards who had made a run for it discover that one of their prisoners had been sprung.
With a collective "Uh - oh....", they start to run back up the spiral passage. It will take three rounds for them to get back to the surface.

Outside the prison, at the other side of the bridge and the curtain of death - things are even rosier.
With a flicker - what looks like an entire army winks into existance.
Standing at the fore - are five stern looking captains, dismounted and stood next to their horses - one of which is dressed in black garb and is veiled.
In front of them, is the owner of the disembodied voice - the diminutive, but never-to-be-underestimated minion-in-chief - Mop.
"It is time for this charade to end. Call out your comrades - now - or you will all die a horrible death," he calls after the escaping Figment. His smirk suggests there is nowhere to run.
Six men come forward and surround Shadrach, their weapons drawn.

Lorna the cleric, still appears to be safely hidden, down in the moat.

He moves over to Tremaine, hands him a potion, and casts invisibility on him. "You will at least have a chance to get out. Drink the potion now, it will prevent the shield from hurting you. Lower yourself into the dry moat if you have to. You can escape that way if need be. You have 2 hours before you turn visible again. Good luck to us all.". The mage turns to face the "army".

"Well look at that," said the black clad captain as Shad's gaseous form snaked under the bridge. "Some people don't know when they're beaten. I'll have their heads displayed on poles at the main gate."

After a hideous smile, Mop answers -
"No. Our almighty leader, the great green dragon, his immensness, Parnoth, wants them alive."
"However," he adds, raising his voice to be heard further afield. "If some of them choose to escape, then the rest are to be killed. You can have your revenge then for the loss of your men."
Returning to a normal conversational voice he continues -
"Did you see that man move across the bridge? Parnoth was right. For these people's sake I hope they have something we can examine as to how they got across, otherwise we'll have to do an autopsy on one of them."
"Surrender! Now!" he then barks across the bridge.
Some of the men behind, now they're visible, start to fidget having been stood there for quite a while.

Inside the prison, the combination of Ingrge's and Milo's attack fell the one guard on Ingrge.
Dakar charges across the room, his axe giving the guard who had recently been freed a mighty wallop. The man's riposte fails as he staggers backward.
K'Nara continues her impressive display of swordsmanship, against a guard who sorely wishes she would stop. Badly injured - his attack misses.
Olana and Tremaine joins Figment at the main door looking out. Tremaine takes the potion and downs it immediately, shuddering at the taste, before winking out of existance.
"I can't just leave you here," he whispers urgently.

Over in the processing room, Fluet comes across a hatch at one end. But it's been boarded shut and bolted, and looks pretty solid and immovable. So far he's found nothing of real interest to pick up.
There's a man - a prisoner there, behind bars watching everything thats going on. He has a very bewildered and bemused expression.

The combination of the after effects of the potion and the smell of Figments stinking cloud is now making everyone feel rather ill.
(STR -1 from now on for a while.)

Down in the dungeon - two guards are taking on great gasps of air as they run round and round, and up and up toward the surface.

If I were a guard attempting to escape a blood thirsty dwarf with a big axe... I'd go up... unless there is another way out... by going down... I mean... it sounds crazy... but I can't think of any other reason... K'NARA!!!" Milo yells hoping to get her attention... "I think there is a way outta here, by going down into the dungeon... its a stab in the dark, but its better than facing impossible odds outside the gate there... Whaddaya say guys?" Milo looks prepared to flee back down the stairs. "C'mon Dakar... discretion is the better part of valor... live today... fight tomorrow? Does any of this make sense...?"

He still searches the "army" for any sign that it is an illusion. If he sees it to be illusary he moves back over to the shield and casts a fireball right into the middle of whomever is real. Both Dakar and K'Nara finish off their opponants, leaving no-one else in the room to attack them.
Olana is now visible as the spell finally runs it's course.
Milo hears the disembodied voice of Tremaine.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think there is a way out down there. Maybe the guards ran out of fear. Seeing your friends skill in weaponry here, it hardly surprises me."
He flashes a quick, unseen grin.
Ingrge lights up the corridor below, blocking the two dungeon guards progress, and anyone elses for that matter.

Outside - the army, which is quite real - stands waiting.
Figment's brave but reckless gesture has multiple effects.
The men who had come forward to apprehend Shadrach howl in pain as the blast hits, behind them - some men or thrown from their horses as the animals are startled or hit.

The portion of the spell aimed at Mop and his merry band of army captains however, seems to reflect back and head straight for Figment for 22 dam.
((Rolled percentage of attack = 98))
While this is going on - Tremaine tells the others what he is about to do, and rolls unseen down into the moat. "We'll get you out - we'll think of something," he says before dropping below.

Mop is now obviously getting a bit hot under the collar.
"Surrender or die!" he announces bad temperedly.

Trying to stall and give Tremaine a fighting chance, he looks out to Mop and says "I will inform the others. If you do not wish to lose any more men then do not advance on our position. We cannot escape but until all agree to surrender we can still do you great damage - and will. And we can also destroy the thing you want to capture - our means in.". He glances back to the warrior woman and says "Your call. What do we do?". He prepares to jump into the moat and also pulls out his wand of webbing - which might be useful in the near future.

The human bladesinger squared her shoulders and said in a calm, no-nonsense voice:

"Tremaine, you MUST escape here--you're too important to the cause to remain. We will keep the forces here...occupied to cover your escape. Make sure that you drink a potion to safely go through the invisible barrier, and then haul your ass OUT of here--do NOT look back, and do NOT stop until you get out of the city. We arranged for some of our fellow Tines to meet us just inside the start of the forest outside the city, so go rendezvous with them. Good luck to you." Seeing that Dakar had the intention of simply attacking the group of reinforcements, K'Nara rolled her hazel eyes.

"Domi spare me from honorbound battleragers!!!" she exclaimed. "We can't let Dakar attack alone--he'll be cut to pieces. What spells have we to effect them from afar? And where's that Ring of Spell Turning? Figment should wear it so that he isn't caught flatfooted again..." K'Nara looked around, finally noticing that Flueterflam wasn't in the area with them.

"And where's Fluet???" she demanded, gripping her still-flaming sword with annoyed impatience. Every second they spent hanging back was another second that Dakar was exposed to the slew of Parnoth's forces outside the barrier...

...outside the barrier..?

"DAKAR! Get back here--NOW!!!" bellowed K'Nara, realizing that--with the attendant wizard dead--Mop and his men couldn't traverse the barrier...or would not, not until they HAD to expend the magic to do so. "Do NOT cross the barrier, dwarf!!!"

DM Jan (The Jailbreak)
Wednesday March 21st, 2001 11:23:31 AM

Milo arrives in the processing room just in time to hear the conversation between Fluet and the prisoner there in the cell.
With a sigh, the prisoner says -
"There's no way out there, I'm afraid. You see the reason they blocked it up was because it's a garbage chute, and I suppose things got stuck down there. It's all blocked with half eaten chickens and vegetables and the gods only know what else. Thats why there's a smell.
"No-one gets out of here," he adds sadly.
The man looks middle-aged, and isn't badly dressed. His fingers look a little stained, as though he has worked with ink, or paint.

As Dakar joins the battered Figment at the other side of the barrier, one of Mop's captains looks on incredulously.
"What is WRONG with these people," he asks. "Don't they know when they're beaten?"
Grinding his teeth - the mighty Mop tries a different tack. He has enough men to cut everyone down quite easily, but....
With forced politeness he calls out.
"Enough of this. The great and almighty dragon, His Immenseness, Parnoth has a task for you, and I'm to escort you to his hillside domain! He will spare you punishment in return for information on how you broke the prison barrier!"

Unseen, and having heeded K'Nara's and Figment's words - Tremaine is at the bottom of the moat and his working his way quietly toward Lorna who - for the moment is unaware of his presence.

You have but wait a few more moments. Not a high price to pay to avoid further losses on either side." Trying to stall a bit longer, he adds "The dragon has no need to see us in person. He can communicate directly without having to waste his time. We will be happy to speak with him in return for our freedom since I presume he is listening as we speak now. It won't take long to convey what he wants. He can gain the same knowledge and not need to worry himself with us.". He looks over to Dakar and whispers "Looks like the warrior woman would like me to have that ring. I can cover an escape attempt with my webs - but only if they are not reflected back on me.". He puts on the ring if the warrior gives it to him. He shields the army from seeing what he is doing.

Then, turning to Ingrge, the human female said, "Sorry, Ingrge, I wasn't ignoring you...I wanted to get everyone together before doing anything permanent like destroying the potions." K'Nara grimaced.

"We have to hold Mop's attention for as long as possible--we have to give Tremaine the time to get away." The female fighter pondered her group's position, then came up with an idea.

"Okay, Mop--" she yelled out the door, "--we know when we're licked! But, listen...I have a couple of my people here whom I have to drag back from visiting their friends--and one of my guys was just about hacked to death by the guards here...would you mind sending Dakar back here--just so's we could heal him up a little...you know, so he can walk out under his own power? Or, at least, so's Dakar can carry him? Dwarfs are SO strong..." "Whoa, hey Milo," Fluet sounds surprised. "I was just looking at that. I thought I'd ask this man if he knew how to open it. Apparently he doesn't. By the way, whatever your name is, if you know where the keys are, tell me. Otherwise you're gonna stay stuck in there." Fluet then follows Milo and tries to see if prying is a possibility. "Milo, I think this is the way to go. How do we open it? Maybe we can both pry. Wait, get everyone else!! With all of us I bet we can get it." (ooc:

At the entrance, the elf keeps her eyes scanning the area, looking for anything that might give them a chance to get away.
She was starting to get a little frightened, although it didnt show outwardly.
If they jumped in the moat - they'd give away Lorna and Tremaine's position. Maybe Fluet and Milo had found something, but if so - they'd all have to act very fast.
And maybe... they'd all end up in the dragon's clutches again.
Vaguely, in amongst hopes and fears - she wonder what the dragon wanted of them this time.

Over in the processing room - Milo and Fluet search for a way to open the hatch.
It's boarded and bolted extremely well, and would probably need an explosion that would take half the wall out in order to get it open.
Up close - they can both smell something awful too, coming from behind the boards.
The man in the cell says -
"I don't know who has the keys - I only got here the day before yesterday - on charges of printing propaganda. I'm no escape artist. I'm a printer. I bet one of you could pick the lock though."

Ingrge destroys his potions, and Shad starts to feel a lot better.
K'Nara, Olana and anyone else at the entrance, or on the bridge can see the cleric Lorna suddenly move from her position and start to head off along the bottom of the moat. She looks to be walking awkwardly, as though she is supporting someone.

Casting a dismissing glance at Figment and Dakar, safe in the knowledge that he's well protected - magically and otherwise, and despite K'Nara's convincing argument, Mop won't budge.
After all - he had a far more "influential" master.
"Come out," he says in a normal voice. "Now - and your lives will be spared. Approach the barrier and I will let you pass beyond it. Through Parnoth - I have the power."
There is a slight rustle as arrows are nocked - and both Dakar and Figment become aware of about a hundred pointy things, aimed their way - just waiting for the word.

Figment
Thursday March 22nd, 2001 11:58:45 AM

The mage shakes his head at the dwarf's foolish arrogance - he decides not to address his folly with Mop. He waits with hands out in front of him. "If you fire on us you risk destroying the information you seek. We are not resisting you. All we ask is that you let us gather our number. Allow that and everyone leaves peacefully and without incident.". Glancing back at the others he says "Uh guys, I'd say now would be a good time to do whatever we're going to do.".

Looking up at Fluet, Milo grins... "Hey Fluet, get K'nara in her with that wonderful flaming sword... this thing is bolted, but this..." Milo indicates the covering..." is still only wood." That said, Milo turns, and gives a tug on the timbers, in the hopes that it was not as secure as they'd thought. (OOC: Str check DC15) If nothing happens, he swings his magic short sword at the thing in a flurry of motion. (OOC: Hit AC22 and AC10 for 6hps each on the wood)

Dakar
Thursday March 22nd, 2001 1:44:21 PM

The dwarf looks at Mop with the same mischievous grin on his face and looks to the archers.
"Well, you might as well shoot me. I do not surrender. But you might hit Mop here at the same time. So I'd be sure your aim was true."
He moves closer to Mop and his horse, standing next to the pair of them.
"So shoot if you must."

Shadrach
Thursday March 22nd, 2001 11:31:46 PM

"Go ahead, I'll help in a moment. Can't let them shoot our wizard," Shad grinned, knowing what to do suddenly. "Disaster upon my enemies, Lady, and let the mighty fall!" (Cast Wind Wall just past Dakar, not sure of the dimensions necessary to block all the archers, 5 rounds)

"Shad, what are you..?" K'Nara asked as the bonze cast his spell. The rise in wind alerted the female fighter to what was happening.

"Ahh...well, that'll help, but...sheesh, I've GOT to think of SOMEthing!" she muttered, straining her brain for some kind of tactic. Finally she settled on yelling out to Mop again:

"No help, huh? Okay--I'm getting the visitors back...and I'm getting a couple of people here to rig a stretcher for the wounded...give us a minute and we'll be out." (OOC: rolled another Bluff check.) The leader of the Emerald Talons turned to the others in the room with her.

"We might have a minute to think of SOMETHING to help keep these guys focused on us...hopefully without endangering Figment and Dakar." she said, giving a nod of her cauled head. "If we go out fighting, though--remember to aim for Mop's horse...that toady is likely protected to his teeth by the Green One's magic...but I doubt he'd've thought to extend that courtesy to the animal he's riding on.

"Now--any suggestions..? And where are Fluet and Milo???"

Ingrge
Friday March 23rd, 2001 8:04:49 AM

K'narra, They are back in there, motioning to the processing center. Don't be obvious about it but it loos like Tremain is out of the way and free. I Think we ought to walk out under our own power before Mop uses his whatever he is going to use to let us pass the barrier. One it will put us in a more powerful light, two, it will again make him wonder how we did it and give us more bargaining power. He doesnt have to know we have the potions because I never drank one and dont have any on me. I can be questioned and truthfully say that I got through because Parnoth's own wizard use his wand on us. Thirdly, If we dont go out soon we may be short on blood thirsty party member.

Olana
Friday March 23rd, 2001 11:21:43 AM

Olana tried not to look in the escaping Lorna's (and hopefully Tremaine's) direction so as not to give the game away.
Trouble is she didn't want to look out in front either - trouble being the operative word.
Edgily, she asks K'Nara -
"Maybe we could ask what the dragon wants? We're gonna die if we fight."

Flueterflam

Fluet nods. Then the bard heads out to where he last saw K'nara and the others. "Hey K'nara, we got a way out probably. That sword of yours will have be used also I think. Let's get everyone into the processing room." Fluet leads them back into the room quickly. "Hey Milo, could you get this lock for the guy. He's not very helpful, but we should probably get him out. Never know when it could come back and help out in the future."

DM Jan (The Jailbreak)

As Milo endeavors to get the hatch open, a tiny part of it splinters.
Through the hole - a black ooze starts to seep out. It smells so foul that he feels really sick.
((Milo - roll fortitude against DC 23 - throw up if you fail and -1 CON for 5 rounds.))

Elsewhere, weird things start to happen - with a shout from the diminutive but mighty Mop - all the guards outside back off very sharply.
Mop's eyes take on a strange light, and some kind of green tinted aura escapes from his body and heads toward the prison, and the barrier.

At the same time, Shad's priestly spell rushes to meet it.
In a fury of colour - both spells meet at the prison barrier and become entangled. For an instant - the barrier becomes a swirl of blue and green.
Then - with a mighty *BANG!* - it seems to lash out like a multi-headed snake.
Mop, Figment and Dakar are the first to be entangled in it, followed in an a flash by K'Nara, Olana, Shadrach and Ingrge.
The spell whips them off their feet and into apprent oblivion.
With a roar it moves into the prison - capturing Milo, Fluet, and a terrified man with ink on his fingers, snaking out at anything alive in the immediate vicinity.

And then -

To those stood outside the prison - it seemed that those entangled in 'whatever it was' just disappeared. The deathly silence is broken by one of the guards, who - shocked beyond belief - drops his shield with a clatter on the cobblestones.

To those captured in the spell - its a rough ride, as Shad's entangled windwall spell batters and blows.
After a few teeth-grinding moments - everything seems to stop.
((4 DAM to all players - usual saves apply if successful.))

Dis-oriented and dizzy, all anyone can feel is a cold stone floor, and a faint smell of sulphur.
Wherever this is, it is hidden by complete darkness.
Someone starts wailing in fear. ((Milo/Fluet - roll INT - DC10 to recognise its the voice of the printer.))

Milo Thistledown  d20+5=12 d20+9=19 d20+1=19

Milo staggers away from the crack and black ooze. Turning himself away from Fluet and the printer, he vomits violently on the wall. After he is finished, he sheaths his short sword, and being a bit wobbly, "Okay... we're not getting out that way... I wonder how the negotiations are going? I wonder if they've killed Dakar yet?" Milo's grin is grim. Turning back to Fluet, "Hey... I wonder if..." and that is all the farther he gets before he is grabbed, along with his friends, and hauled away. (OOC: Made Reflex save DC 19 for half damage, let me know if that succeeds)

As he lays on the cold floor Milo recognizes the voice of the Printer as he wails in fear. (Made Int check DC19) Struggling to get to his hands and knees, Milo shakes his head, in order to attempt to shake of the after affects of whatever that was, "Guys? Anybody? Somebody pinch me if I ever decide to go on that ride again will ya?"

Dakar
Friday March 23rd, 2001 1:56:44 PM

The dwarf slams his axe hilt into the ground in pure rage.
"Ye're all daft. I had cast a spell on myslef that made me immune tot he attacks of others, long as I myself didn't attack. I could've drawn arrow fire ALL BLASTED DAY! All they would've hit was their own soldiers."
He wheels to the rest of the party.
"My entire youth was spent at war, in training for combat, for the impossible missions we would fight. My entire life has been one of conflict and strife. I am a tactician by nature and upbringing and have deicated my life to it. If I *seem* to have a plan I do have a plan!"
He slumps to the ground.
"And now, that plan was tossed into smoke."

As the mage lands on the cold floor he collects himself and prepares to meet the dragon (DC 18). He tries to find Mop in the gloom - wondering if he is really Parnoths main guy or if he is the dragon himself. Upon hearing the dwarf's lament and hoping to calm him down he offers "I really don't think any plan would have helped us out of this situation Dakar. But I'm sure yours was as good as anyone else had.". The mage continues to listen for Mop.

Ingrge  d20=17

Ingrge, watching the goings ons, is caught off guard by the spell and is uncerimoniously, tossed and thrown roughly accross the aether and lands in a pile on the floor.

Fluet lands quite hard. "Hmmm...either very good or very bad," he mutters under his breath. "DAMN, should've made it down there, who knows what will happen now." The bard is fill with vehement thoughts of all the horrible things that might have just happened, including wherever it is they just 'landed'.

K'Nara
Monday March 26th, 2001 6:48:24 AM

Groaning a bit, K'Nara pulled herself upright from her prone position on the floor.

"Oh, DO stop pouting, Dakar," she told the petulant dwarf, "In case you haven't noticed, it was NOT 'our' idea to transport everyone away from the prison like that. And I would appreciate your letting me know what you intend to do before you do something like that again." The human blinked as she looked around her, seeing nothing but darkness.

"Figment, Ingrge...do either of you know what in the Nine Hells happened??? And how did we end up here?" K'Nara asked, frowning as she gripped her sword, which was still in her hands. "Whatever that magic was supposed to be, it ended up blowing OUT my sword!" The female fighter's sigh was sharp.

"Lucia!" she uttered resolutely, causing the sword to flare to life once more and shed its light in a sixty-foot-diameter area. K'Nara's canny hazel eyes assessed who and what was in the limnus of the flames.

Olana
Monday March 26th, 2001 11:06:38 AM

"Ooooh, I don't like this," said Olana, scrambling to her feet and looking around trying to get her bearings.
"Where are we?"
