Back at the warehouse - setting up for the night (Assistant DM Greg) Tuesday April 3rd, 2001 7:04:45 PM
For more than two hours, there is much lugging, lifting, pulling, piling, tugging, shifting, hanging, tying, heaving, climbing, dangling, shoving, and such.
There is also much shouting, grunting, panting, talking, asking, answering, heavy breathing and hollering, as well as bumps, bruises, scrapes, pullings, swellings, and cuts.
After a hard two hours work, the party retires for the rest of the afternoon. The houseboy agrees to wake the party one hour before sundown, with a meal and something to drink.
[OOC: I won't post again until you have all made your plans and have settled in for the afternoon, unless you raise something that I think needs an answer from me. I am looking for each of your tactical maps by e-mail, including locations of anything you are planning to move, or a very good description of where you plan to be. OK?]
Sir THomas and Pryte-Honos Tuesday April 3rd, 2001 11:28:30 PM
Thomas gives himself 10hp using his lay on hands ability. he then approaches Trace and charges his sword with 8hp (unless the max is more and then I can give up to 2 more points, and will). Thomas then accepts one of Teva's potions. "Thank you my dear. I'm sure this will come in handy." He then helps make some final adjustments to the decoy on top of the central crate, and a second and third decoy that he set up in the warehous in hopes that they might at least distract the orcs for a short time. He then spends his time polishing his armor and sword and the new shield he picked up from Chloe. He sharpens his sword and dons his armor again, just in time to see teh servant boy come in. Thomas adjusts his basinet helmet, situates his armor, and tries to instill in his appearance the shining grace that a true knight of Alemi would enter battle with. He takes time to groom Pryte-Honos and polishes and adjusts his saddle. He then climbs on his friend and begins to partol the room. "May Alemi guide our hearts, and Domi guide our hands so that our souls will fulfill their goal. May all of your hearts shine through tonight my friends. They are all good hearts. I'm glad I know each of you. May Alemi walk with you." Thomas salutes each of his friends.
Sly Foxx and Luke Wednesday April 4th, 2001 5:29:11 AM
After an active rearranging of the warehouse, Sly and Luke ate, then went to help Sir Thomas groom his horse. " I have taken my four hour sleep and all my magic is charged up. You know that Bear will send in all the lesser orc first to deplete our arrows and tire ourselves in battle first, then he'll come in with his big boys and himself to finish us off. But I think if we make enough noise the lesser orcs will almost kill themselves. So I'll leave you now and climb to my perch on top of the boxes, and Luke will be with me until he's needed. May Alemi and Domi guide our blades. Good Luck Friend." Said Sly, He then turns and climb the crates and settles almost in the middle. Lays out his arrows, string his bow, makes sure that the Three (+2) arrows are laid aside for his special target BEAR and his sword and shield are at elbow length. Now whispers "Armor On", insanely his +1 Chain Mail is on his body and two healing potion are laid aside. "Now I think I'm ready" said Sly. Now he (Sly) look around to see if Little Sister or Uteva or anybody else needs anything, if not will sit back and read his book by the new hooded lamp he bought today, and wait.
Trace and Radiant Wednesday April 4th, 2001 8:12:00 AM
Trace exchanges the extra lattern for the torch and accepts the cure light wounds potion. Before Trace returns to his perch he places three pails of water and some blankets at the back of the row that he is on. As everyone settels down to rest, "Good Luck my friends" Sounding a bit worried since he nows this is probaly the greatest challenge they have faced.
Alyndar Wednesday April 4th, 2001 8:34:17 AM
Aly positions himself near the back of the warehouse, behind some large heavy crates. He positions his Combat Pouch on himself for easy access and puts his Crossbow and Bolts on the crate near him for easy access. He leans his quarterstaff against the wall behind him.
Aly goes to Sly and asks if it would be ok to have Luke back there with him in case something breaks through and I need assistance.
He then goes back, lays a few scrolls before him and the tries to make the area as comfortable as possible, then begins to meditate.
Sly Foxx and Luke Wednesday April 4th, 2001 11:09:22 AM
"Why sure! for Three cookies, I'm hungry" said Sly, then turn to Luke."Boy! Alyndar need you, protect him." The dog tilts his head at Sly, then looks at the old Elf, then follows Alyndar.
Lok Mufflefoot Wednesday April 4th, 2001 12:30:45 PM
The halfling wakes from his rest and is unnaturally quiet. Something in the air mad him nervous. They were but a few, and possibly more than double their number in orcs were to fight them tonight. Possibly even more. It was likely some of their own number would die. He quietly takes Sly aside for a moment during their final preparations. Whispering to the boy away from the others he says seriuosly "I've put myself close to the door and with so many orcs coming this may be dangerous, but I would rather harm come to me than any of you wonderful people. If it is, take this ruby pheonix and wear it for me. My parents would only want someone of a silly carefree heart to keep such a thing and the thought of it being buried would just not seem..." the halflings ears drooped "...right." Then his ears perked up again and he piched Sly's cheek teasingly. "Now off for a cookie and a fight!" Happily munching away Lok positions himself in his nears behind the table near the door.
Uteva Wednesday April 4th, 2001 5:41:02 PM
When she wakes, Teva thanks the boy for the meal, then wanders around eating while she takes a last look at their preparations. Flasks of oil are concealed near every lantern, containers of water are by the lanterns and near each person's position. "Well, we're more spread out than I'd like, but it can't be helped in such a large room. Remember to holler if you get into trouble! Somebody will come running if they can. Ilsidur, your potion will come in handy for that. Thank you. Does anyone want to use the Invisibility potion?"
As sunset approaches, she gathers her weapons, potions, lantern, and 2 oil flasks high on the mountain of crates. "Sly, will you send these up when I lower the rope?" Then she carefully (taking 20's all the way) makes her way up to her chosen rafter. Lantern lit and hung to her satisfaction, Teva crawls along the rafter to a spot where a crossbeam provides extra security. She knots one end of the rope solidly to the beam, slip-knots herself about 10' along, and coils the remaining slack on top of the rafter. Then balanced as best she can, with the Flying potion in one hand and her bow in the other, she settles down to wait.
Ael d'Gaiaim d20+5=20 d20+2=12 Wednesday April 4th, 2001 6:53:12 PM
When woken, Ael calmly settles down to study his spells. Upon finishing his memorization, he gets up and eats, chatting with his friends and looking around the battlefield. When the time is almost up, he removes his boots and, slowly, ascends by rope to the rafters. Moving to a position where the beams cross, he double-checks his crossbow (which is hanging from a clip on his waist), his bolts, components, etc.
Ael then settles down to wait, tightly clutching two of his scrolls. (He is watching the area carefully, paying attention to the windows as well. The above roll is a spot check, followed by a balance check)
Night falls on the party (Assistant DM Greg) Wednesday April 4th, 2001 8:09:53 PM
As the sun is heading for the horizon, there is a knock on the door. The door rolls open to reveal the houseboy, a young lad of about 14. He has a worried expression on his face, and is carrying a large wineskin and an even larger basket. He slides around the back of the wagon, moves to the middle of the warehouse and says, "Madame Chloe asked me to give these to you. It is dinner from the finest restaurant in Northook, as well as wine from her own winecellar. Please be careful tonight. Madame sends her best wishes." Then he turns and leaves, shutting and locking the door behind him.
The party watches the light dim outside as they eat the delicious meal prepared for them. They pass around the wineskin, and everyone has a drink and makes a toast to a luck for the night.
Once supper is finished, the party members move to their planned locations. The two rafter climbers have a little difficulty getting settled in, but find some cross-pieces to rest on. Sir Thomas circles about the warehouse, riding on Pryte-Honos, regularily checking that everyone is OK. Tara also wanders around, sniffing in all the corners.
The party quietly talks together, as the night becomes longer and longer. [OOC: DruAnna, have Tara make a Listen check. Her bonus is +6.]
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d20=20 Wednesday April 4th, 2001 9:28:31 PM
Pryte_Honos is using his sense of smell and his fine hearing for the entire night(SQ scent; scent +7). (Rolled a 20 for his listen, and am uncertain how to roll for his scent, no modifier given)
Thomas makes it a point to only check on the people that are visible as well as the decoy people. He makes no motion to the people in the rafters, nor does he even look at them. He tries to look as dignified and honorable as a young knight possibly can as he prances with Pryte-Honos around the warehouse. He offers little words of encouragement to his friends when he checks in with them to try to ease their nerves a bit. He never smiles though.
Sir THomas correction Wednesday April 4th, 2001 9:29:37 PM
OOC: sorry, that is Listen +7, no modifier on the scent Special Quality
Sly Foxx and Luke Thursday April 5th, 2001 12:14:28 PM
Sly ate the meal, but did not drink the wine. Sly yell to Trace,"BIG BROTHER! you can have my portion of the wine, after the time at that Inn when I woke up under the table and hugging Luke. I'm a little shy at drinking wine."
Trace and Radiant Thursday April 5th, 2001 2:40:02 PM
Trace looks at Sly, "Don't worry little brother, we will share it as our celebration of victory when the next day arrives." Trace changes his mind about his postion and stands next to Lok at the tables with his two swords drawn.
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil d20+6=13 Thursday April 5th, 2001 6:07:33 PM
Altemia climbs up to her perch on the boxes and readies her sling. She also readies the spell Summon Natures Ally I. Looking around she sees Kevil guarding the box and Tara wandering around the warehouse. She smiles as she watches them. She also looks up at the windows and keeps an eye on them too.
Alyndar Thursday April 5th, 2001 6:20:20 PM
When Aly hears Sly yell at Trace, he flinches.
Getting Sly's attention he says in a calm voice. Do NOT yell again. From this time forward we do not speak higher than whispers otherwise you will let their spies know where you are in this place.
Aly places 4 flasks of oil near him, cloth shoved in the tops, and a lit torch nearby.
And now he settles in and waits. In the meantime, he gives Luke a good scratching and feeds him his portion of the fine food. Not drinking any of the wine.
Uteva Nerine Thursday April 5th, 2001 6:35:58 PM
While they wait, Uteva has plenty of time to regret her decision to perch so high up. She passes the time working out new lyrics while sweeping the lit areas of the room with her gaze. From time to time, she shifts her position and grip just enough to keep all her parts in working order.
Ael d'Gaiaim d20+2=9 Thursday April 5th, 2001 7:17:41 PM
Ael munches on a piece of bread while sitting in the rafters. He continues to scan the windows and door area, and manages to keep himself from falling off into quiet reverie.
"I wonder what that old Dwarf, Gaiaus is doing now?", Ael mutters to himself. "Probably having dinner with my Uncle, sitting in a chair on the _floor_, and not perched somewhere like a bird, waiting to be shot, plucked, and stuffed."
Laughing at the thought of his dignified Mentor's short legs dangling off the edge of the beam, he settles back to wait. He makes sure to keep that scroll close at hand, and wiggles his bare toes down at Lok below.
Ilsidur Thursday April 5th, 2001 7:57:46 PM
Ilsidur shifts at his position behind the crate, so that no body parts go numb. As the wolf moves around the building, he feeds it little scraps from the dinner. "I wonder if that was meant to be our last meal?" he thinks to himself.
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 1 (Asst. DM Greg) d100=46 d100=5 Thursday April 5th, 2001 8:28:51 PM
It is sometime in the dead of night ... and all hell breaks loose.
First, a shout is heard outside the main door.
Second, two windows break into the warehouse, one halfway along the south wall, and one just south of Luke on the east wall. At each window, a knotted silk rope drops to the ground, and each rope starts to wiggle and dance.
At the same time, the front door slides open, and a cloud of fog billows up from a point about 20' east of the wagon at the door. The cloud quickly expands to a 30' radius, and 20' high. Tara is right beside the wagon, and begins to growl, as the hackles rise on the back of her neck. Noises can be heard as something(s) clamber around/over/under the wagon.
As the cloud expands, and the something(s) enter the warehouse by the main door, a booming voice shouts through the doorway:
"I AM VOID, THE FACELESS ONE! I AM HERE TO AVENGE MY BROTHER, AND END YOUR PUNY LIVES! THOSE MARKED WITH THE SIGN OF THE CHAOS BELL ARE DOOMED TO DESTRUCTION! THE BROTHERS OF SHADOW WILL DESTROY YOU ALL, AND THE PLANES WILL BE FREE FOR EVER!"
Just as the cloud is expanding to fill the doorway, Uteva, from her perch in the rafters, sees a large, dark, hooded figure standing outside the doorway. The cloud covers the doorway before she can act against the dark figure.

Testing
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos Thursday April 5th, 2001 10:44:58 PM
Thomas' blood begins to rush, his heart pounds so loudly that he almost can't hear the booming voice of the faceless one. All of Thomas' senses heighten. He knows this is his calling in life, to defend Alemi's honor with Domi's pride. Pryte-Honos begins to prance a bit as he swells with the thought of battle. Spittle begins to drip from his mouth as his senses come to a heightened state. He gathers himself quickly. The two friends have a very brief mental conversation before taking action. Thomas first calls on the god of war, "Domi guide us!"
Thomas then uses a booming voice of his own to communicate with his friends. "We have three breeches in our defense . . . Three! One to the south, one to the east, and the front door." As he begins to call out the information that everyone probably already knows Pryte begins to move to the southeast. He is moving with a high step, parade march to show off his size, granduer, and hopefully to cause some intimidation. Thomas stands in the saddle, allowing the light to reflect from his polished armor. He points his sword at the rope on the east wall even though he knows Ilsidur probably can't see him from where the two are positioned. "Ilsidur, I am moving southeast to be between the two window breeches. The ropes are wiggling of their own ability. Keep an eye to the south, you are unprotected from the south." Thomas takes a moment to concentrate on any evil intent coming from the south rope. He loudly reports what he finds to the group.
"This could mean invisible foes decending the ropes. Alyndar! I am with you and Luke on the east. I am protecting Alyndar from harm." Thomas hopes that the others will follow his lead as to the level of communication so that it will be known what all are doing or seeing or hearing. Pryte-Honos reigns himself in about fifteen feet to the west and even with the northernmost part of the wagon in the southeast corner of the warehouse, near Alyndar. He then prances and paces in a very territorial manner while the events of the evening role on . . . unable to do anything productive without a visible orc. [OOC: does Thomas sense evil from the south? Does Pryte-Honos smell anything new or hear anything approaching he and Thomas? I have tried to place Thomas easily within half of Pryte-Honos movement capability of either window.]
Lok Mufflefoot d20+9=14 d20+9=17 d6=4 d6=1 Friday April 6th, 2001 7:47:16 AM
Lok tenses as the time has come, having kept his aim trained on that door, he tries to use his keen sense of hearing to aid him in the release of two arrows. The fog was unesxpected so he'd have to adapt. His first two arrows sail into the fog. Not knowing whether his two arrows hit their marks, the halfling drops his bow and grabs "Twibble". From his other pocket the halfling brings out his magic silver ball, and he prepares to close. Perhaps the ones scrabbling through the door would not be able to organize against the single halfling.
Trace and Radiant Friday April 6th, 2001 8:07:48 AM
Trace recoils a bit as the fog engulfs his postion and then pulls lok back a bit so that they can hit what ever comes out of the fog. "Lok stay with me little buddy. If we attack together we can dispense of the riff raft quickly so that only the problems remain." Trace grabs the fossilized holly leaf around his neck and calls out " Demaasss". Trace has summoned natures ali to come and help and he choses a dog. When the dog appears he commands it to attack the closest orc.
Alyndar d20+5=17 Friday April 6th, 2001 8:12:11 AM
Hearing the glass breaking just to his left, he jumps a bit, he calls luke close to him then turns his attention to the window. He reaches down, grabs a oil bomb, lites it and throws it at the window. <made roll of 17 to hit just above the window to rain flaming oil all around the area where they would be entering.
Aly then starts to prepare to cast.
Ael d'Gaiaim Friday April 6th, 2001 8:57:32 AM
Ael quickly pulls a scroll of <I>Spider Climb</I> from his belt and speaks the words needed to have it's effect take on himself.
Gripping the beams seemingly with only the skin on his feet and palms, he crouches on the rafters and prepares to reveal the truth about those ropes...
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil d20+9=19 Friday April 6th, 2001 11:49:13 AM
Altemia looks at the others in the warehouse to see how they are doing. She sees that everyone is in motion. She watches the fog to see if there are any attackers coming through (Spot check 19). Altemia realizes that her sling will not be enough and replaces it in her belt and draws her scimitar and sickle. She then begins to make her way down the crates to the floor.
Kevil upon hearing the sounds of battle begins to growl and moves closer to his charge to better protect it.
Tara is engulfed in the fog in front of the wagon. She uses her scent ability to see if she can smell any oppenents coming under/over/through the wagon. If she does, she rushes to attack the nearest one
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+5=13 d20+5=18 Friday April 6th, 2001 6:38:08 PM
"Oh Brother! First it's Bear, Then One Eye (Whick we killed), Now No Face? How many other family members to this family?" Wonders Sly. Since the fog expanded just below his knees, but cannot see into that darn fog, Now he must shoot arrows into that mess (useing only his memory as to where every thing is). Sly will move down (the top of the crates)about thirty feet east, then down (south) about five feet. Just under the beam where Uteva is sitting. Sly put down his sword, and aims his arrows to where he rembers the wagon to be, he will let fly two arrows. Hoping to hit any orc either going over the wagon or any body (Booming Voice)standing behind the wagon. Luke hears the window brake and puts his back to alyndar listens and growls(bearing his fangs, the fur on the his back stands up right.
Uteva Nerine (Flying) Sunday April 8th, 2001 12:39:18 PM
On the heels of Sir Thomas shout, Teva projects her own warning. "Those ropes may be decoys! Elves, watch all the windows in case they come through somewhere else!" Having popped the cap with her thumb, Teva downs the contents of the potion vial and discards it. While untying herself from the rope, she opens her throat and begins singing the heartening Ballad of the Hero Rolan.
Ilsidur Sunday April 8th, 2001 8:15:45 PM
Ilsidur picks up his loaded crossbow and slides a little to his left, looking first at the cloud of fog, and then at the broken southern window, planning to skewer the first visible target.
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 1 party action results (Asst. DM Greg) d100=13 d20=6 d8=1 d6=1 d100=21 d4=4 d100=27 d20=3 d20=18 d4=3 d8=1 Sunday April 8th, 2001 8:50:28 PM
Sir Thomas' scan of the the area to the south, and the rope, turns up an evil force of some sort partway down the rope. [OOC: Clay, detect evil is Sir Thomas' standard action. If he detects evil, he can only move as well.]
Lok shoots into the fog, training in on the noise made by the creature(s) climbing around the wagon. He hears his arrow glance off of something wooden, and a voice curse in Orcish, within 10'. [OOC: I think you can only shoot one arrow per round in 3rd edition, so I took your first roll.] As Twiddle is drawn, it says, "Well, about time. I smell orc."
Trace grabs for Lok, but in the fog can't seem to find him. Trace's dog appears to Trace's right.
Alyndar heaves the oil flask up at the window, but misses too high, and instead hits the joint between the roof and the wall. The oil ignites and starts to catch the roof supports on fire.
An orc appears through the fog on Tara's right, and she turns and snaps at it, but misses.
Sly also fires one arrow [OOC: see the note above to Lok] into the fog, but misses any desired target; the arrow sinks with a 'thunk' into the wagon.
Uteva begins to sing, and everyone can hear her beautiful voice. [OOC: Next round, the characters will listen to the song, and the following round, the song will take effect. Your standard action this round was to drink the potion.]
[OOC: Ignore the last three rolls, they were for Ilsidur.]
Ilsidur d20=19 d20=17 d8=8 d8=1 d4=2 Sunday April 8th, 2001 8:56:06 PM
As the orcs boil out of the fog, Ilsidur takes aim and looses a crossbow bolt. It smashes into the center of Orc #2, hitting him in the chest. The orc gurgles once and falls to the floor, dead.
Trace and Radiant Sunday April 8th, 2001 9:02:12 PM
Trace commands the dog to attack the pointing at the fog hopeing that the dogs senses are more keen and will seek out the first intruder in the fog. Trace continues to retreat backwards to escape the fog so that he may see.
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 2 orcs (and others?) (Asst. DM Greg) d20=2 d20=3 d20=2 d20=17 d20=1 d20=17 d20=12 d2=1 2d4(3+4)+2=9 2d4(4+3)+2=9 Sunday April 8th, 2001 9:13:24 PM
Orcs 1 and 3 charge at Ilsidur, and will be in attack range next round. Sly recognizes orc #1 to be Brod, the leader of CP 452. Orc #2 expires on the floor of the warehouse, a crossbow bolt sticking from his chest.
Orc #4 takes a wild swing at Tara, but the fog completely fools the orc, and the swing misses.
Aly and Luke can both hear a thud as something climbs off the bottom of the rope beside them (but they can't see anything).
Two more orcs clamber over the window sills and start down the ropes, one at each window (orcs #5 and #6).
Once the climbing orcs are 10' down the rope, another orcish face appears in each window, and two arms reach into the room. The orc at the south window points at Ilsidur and lets fly 2 magical bolts of force. [OOC: Ilsidur takes 9 points of damage.] The other orc points at Sir Thomas and looses 2 similar bolts. [OOC: Sir Thomas takes 9 points of damage as well.]
Alyndar Sunday April 8th, 2001 10:54:44 PM
Upon hearing the thud, and not seeing anything even though he has a lit torch nearby and infravision, Aly casts a spell. <see invisible>
Sir Thomas d20=16 Sunday April 8th, 2001 11:01:57 PM
Thomas tries to hide behind his shield as the magical bolts speed his way. (no save?) But he doesn't manage to get all the way behind the protective borders of the instrument. Thomas grimaces while still behind the shield, but when his face emerges from behind it as he puts the shield down his face shows nothing but the fire of rage. He spurs Pryte-Honos who takes the mild kicks to his flanks stoicly. Thomas and Pryte-Honos charge toward the east trying to get to the orc arms before they disappear.
If Thomas gets there and has no orc to attack he will sheath his sword and grab the silk rope with both hands. As he gets a firm grip, Pryte-Honos begins to back away from the wall. Thomas begins to violently shake the rope as it becomes more and more horizontal. Hopefully anything on the rope will fall like apples from a tree in a storm.
However, if there are orcs to attack, Thomas will take his best shot at one of them. Preferrably the magical arms (how high up are the windows?), but really any will do. Second choice is the one closest to Alyndar. (rolled 16 with +8 melee attack in case this is the scenario -- please God let this be the scenario.)
Lok Mufflefoot d20+11=19 d4+2=3 d4+1=3 2d6(3+1)=4 Monday April 9th, 2001 7:42:49 AM
Full well knowing that time was a premium the halfling began closing. They had to kill these so that they did not flank their friends behind them at the windows. Hearing Trace behind him the halfling whispers as he moves "Common Trace, lets rip up these orcs."
Using the curses as his guide the halfling closes trying to compensate for any forward movement the orc could have made. To Twiddle he whispers as he begins to move "Sorry bout that, ready for fun? Know you been wanting Orc for a bit, any idea what those curses were besides an angry orc knowing an arrow just missed? Maybe we can make em curse for a different reason!"
Lok takes a swing at what he thinks to be an orcish shape (attack roll 19, damage 3 rolled 4 for sneak attack if that works in this situation) and says "Terrific!" sending his silver ball shooting out at that shape (3 damage plus sv vs stun).
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+5=23 d8+2=3 Monday April 9th, 2001 10:54:40 AM
Sly is about to reknoch his bow when when he spots Brod (Bear). "Hello Little Brother Bear. I have something special for you" whispers Sly (not to give himself away)puting down the regular arrow and picks up the +2 arrow. He knoch his bow, takes careful aim and let's the arrow GO. "That for Sir Thomas and Trace."murmurs Sly. Luke still in position snarling and snapping his jaws. The only thing holding him back is the comand to attack.
Uteva Nerine (Flying) Monday April 9th, 2001 11:19:26 AM
Her concentration focussed on infusing her song with power (Inspire Courage, no effect yet), Teva finds she can't spare any attention for firing shots. She can, however, deal with the impending fiery disaster. Taking up a pot of water from behind her, she flies 90' eastward through the rafters, trying to keep crossbeams between herself and the orcs near the broken eastern window.
Ael d'Gaiaim (Spider Climb) Monday April 9th, 2001 12:51:16 PM
Ael skutters along the crossbeam, keeping himself pressed flat. Sitting up for a moment, keeping beams between himself and the Orcs, he mutters a few short, sharp words. (Casting See Invisible on himself.)
He then peeks around the beams, trying to get information on where the Orcs are.
Trace and Radiant Monday April 9th, 2001 5:11:49 PM
Trace keeps backing up untill he has clear vision and is able to see an opponent to attack.
Ilsidur Monday April 9th, 2001 6:57:47 PM
Ilsidur drops his crossbow, readies his waraxe and shield, and steps forward to attack orc #3.
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 2 party action results (Asst. DM Greg) d20=16 d6+2=6 d12+4=7 d100=12 d20=6 d100=9 d20=4 d100=76 d20=7 d20=12 d6+1=4 Monday April 9th, 2001 7:23:56 PM
As Sir Thomas moves to the east, he is attacked by (now visible) orc #7. The orc stabs up at Sir Thomas, catching him with a solid blow to the thigh [OOC: Sir Thomas takes 6 points of damage.] In response, Sir Thomas swings down at the orc, bashing the orc solidly in the head, and staggering it. [OOC: Clay, that is Sir T's action for the 3rd round. I used your attack roll from round 2 as the attack in round 3. You can still take a move-equivalent action if desired.]
Lok hones in on the combat between orc #4 and Tara. He swings at the orc, but is distracted by the fog and the combat moves, and misses [OOC: rolled 12 on 20% chance to miss.] [Also, you can either attack with your dagger, or throw the ball, unless you want to take the 2-attack option, with each attack at -4.] He throws the ball, but again is distracted by the fog [OOC: rolled 9 on 20% miss. I took the autohit for the ball to mean if a normal chance to hit, and no concealment in effect.]
Sly looses an arrow at orc #1 (who is BROD, not BEAR) and nicks him across the back.
Uteva sloshes a bit of the water, as she flies eastward to the burning roof.
Ael's spell takes effect, and he sees two orcs appear; one is moving forward to engage Sir Thomas (orc #7) and one is moving forward to engage Kevil (orc #8).
Trace backs up until he can clearly see orcs 1, 3, 5, and 8 (appears after attacking Kevil).
Ilsidur steps forward to attack orc #3 (but first get attacked himself).
Tara gets a bead on orc #4 and snaps at him, but misses.

Orc #1 (Brod) shifts to the right and swings at Ilsidur. Ilsidur catches the swing on his new shield, deflecting the blow away.
Orc #2 makes a nice puddle on the floor.
Orc #3 also swings at Ilsidur, but misjudges the dwarf's height, and swings cleanly over his head.
Orc #4 swings at Tara, hitting her with a glancing blow across the back [OOC: Tara takes 3 hp damage].
Orcs #5 and #6 drop to the ground and draw their swords and shields.
Orc #7, on his last legs, swings back up at Sir Thomas, cutting into the paladin's armour on the side, and drawing some serious blood [OOC: Sir Thomas takes 7 hp damage].
Orc #8 swings at Kevil, hitting the wolf in the side of the head, and gouging the wolf's face just below the eye [OOC: Kevil takes 4 hp damage].
Orc # 9 leans over the window sill and casts a sleep spell centered on Aly and Luke. [OOC: The spell affects 5 hd of creatures. Luke and Alyndar both need to make Will saves vs. DC 14.]
Orc #10 scrambles over the window sill and starts to climb down the rope, getting about 1/3 of the way down.
Alyndar d4+1=2 d4+1=3 Monday April 9th, 2001 7:59:46 PM
Being that I am immune to sleep spells i dont have to roll, but instead, I point a hand at the spellcaster, speak a word or 3 and out shoots 2 streaks of light at him doing 5hp of damage. (Magic Missile)
Aly then commands Luke to attack orc #10
Aly then backs up 15 feet. (being that i havent yet moved, and a magic missile spell is not a full round action, i do believe i can still move so therefore i waited til after my spell)
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil d20+3=19 d6+1=2 d20+3=7 Monday April 9th, 2001 9:15:36 PM
Seeing the influx of orcs into the warehouse, Altemia yells at Kevil to release him from his guarding the box. She hopes that he hears her.
Tara snaps at the orc in front of her (#4) and get him in the leg (2 dmg). She then attempts to trip him so that she can get to his throat.
Kevil bites at his opponent (#8), but is unable to get a hit. The blow to the head was still ringing in his ears.
Trace and Radiant and (Dog) Trace recives +2 for charge to orc 5 d20+6=15 d2=1 d20+12=28 d8+4=5 Monday April 9th, 2001 11:12:38 PM
Trace sicks the dog on orc 8 and sends Radiant at orc 10 and then sprints into a full charge at orc 5.(did not roll for dog since attack bonus is unknown). Radiant Darts up ahead and claws at one of the window orcs and if conncets with 15 dose 1hp dmg. Trace charges orc and hits him with a 28 and does 5hp's dmg. Trace calls out aloud while in confrontation with #5, "Is everyone doing ok, is anyone in need of assistance?"
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d10=6 d20=12 d20=6 d6=4 d6=4 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 12:25:12 AM
(OOC: For Thomas' last attack that counts this round I rolled a 6 + 4 gives 10 hp damage) More than a little perplexed at the speed with which the orc moves after appearing from no where, Thomas feels the bite of the steel more deeply than he thinks he should. "Leoht Justitia!!" Thomas cries as he brings his large bastard sword down on the orcs head.
Seeing the orc appear next to him, Pryte-Honos is quite surprised. He quickly tries to explain to Thomas that he didn't hear or smell the orc with his scent or listen abilities, but drops the explanation short since it will do no good now. Instead he finishes the thought by telling Thomas to hold on tightly. He rears up and attacks with his two massive front hooves. (OOC:Rolled 18 and 12, each blow doing 10 hp)
Thomas holds on to the pummel of the saddle and jams his feet down into the sturrups to stay on the large horse as he attacks orc #7.
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+5=18 d8=8 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 3:55:53 AM
"Alright,You Big Pool of Swamp Goo, take this shot(orc#1)"whispers to himself. Sly pick an arrow and knock is, then shoots.
Luke(after getting the comand to attack), will runs to the bottom of window (where #10 is comming down)and will attack the orc as soon as he comes in range.
Alyndar Tuesday April 10th, 2001 8:12:17 AM
/ooc OOPS i meant orc #6 not orc #10
Lok Mufflefoot d20+7=17 d4+2=5 d4+1=2 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 9:18:08 AM
(ooc thought ambidexterity nullified some of that 2 weapon minuses?) Hearing the wolf's pained snarl the halfling knows exactly where he stands now. He takes a swing with his dagger (17 to hit, 5 damage) and then staring as intently as he can at the orc's shape says "Terrific!" sending it shooting out at the orc once again. (ball is 2 damage sv vs stun if it hits)
Ael d'Gaiaim (Spider Climb, See Invis) d20+12=24 2d4(4+1)+2=7 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 12:39:24 PM
Ael sees Orc #9 cast the sleep spell. (OOC: Roll is for arcane knowledge to recognise the spell. OR should I have used spellcraft?)
Looking from Orc 10, down at the floor, and back at the Orc, he smiles thinly and points in the direction the Orc (who is still climbing down the rope) and barks a few short phrases. 2 bolts of magic energy streak from his fingers to unerringly hit Orc 10. (Magic Missile for 7 damage)
The mage then flattens himself to the top of a beam, and skitters a few feet west along it.
Altemia (xtra dm okay'd post) Tuesday April 10th, 2001 4:17:16 PM
Altemia moves down off of the crates and moves toward the center of the warehouse where the large crate is located. She wants to get into a position to help Kevil and Ilsidur.
Uteva (Flying, Inspired) d20=17 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 5:34:18 PM
Frantic to deal with the fire so that she can help below, Teva swoops in close to the flames and splashes her water where it will quench to greatest effect. (Rolled attack in case you want it, or do you want to go with "Extinguish Fire" as a full round action?) Her song rolls through the air, carrying its themes of hope, defiance, and courage into the hearts of her friends. (Allies Inspired with morale bonuses of: +2 save vs. charm/fear, +1 attack, +1 weapon damage.)
Ilsidur d20=17 d10+3=7 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 6:40:35 PM
Ilsidur swings his waraxe at orc #3, crashing through the orc's shield and biting deeply into the shoulder joint, staggering the smelly creature.
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 3 party action results (Asst. DM Greg) d100=41 d20+1=2 d20+2=14 d20=11 d20+1=18 d20+3=23 d20+3=4 d6+1=5 d100=12 d20=20 2d6(4+5)=9 d2=1 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 7:26:58 PM
Alyndar's magic missile blasts into the wizard looking in through the window. He then backs up to the shelves along the apartment.
Tara's bite hits the orc through the fog, tearing a chunk out of the orc's thigh. Her trip attempt is feeble at best, and the orc easily eludes the special attack. Kevil misses his attack.
Trace's dog moves into position to attack orc #8 next round. Radiant manages to buffet at the orc, damaging it slightly and causing it to make a climbing check (successfully). Trace's charge smashes into orc #5, and his heavy sword blow chops deeply into the side of the creature.
Sir Thomas smashes into the suddenly-appearing orc with his bastard sword [OOC: I already rolled the damage. Also, if you want to attack, and have the horse attack in the same turn, you need to make a riding check vs. DC10. If you fail, only the horse gets to attack that round.] The paladin's new warhorse rears back, and one hoof pounds into the forehead of the orc, dropping it like a sack of cement.
Sly's arrow drives deeply into Brod's left side, causing the orc leader to flinch. Luke successfully resists the sleep spell, and bites at orc #6. He grabs the orc by the upper arm, and gives it a good shake before releasing it. [OOC: Pay attention, Ceil. You should have had Luke make the save vs. the sleep spell.]
Once again, Lok is deceived by the shifting fog, and his swing goes wide of the mark [OOC: rolled 12 vs. 20% miss chance.]
Ael successfully recognizes the spell as a wizard's sleep spell. [OOC: You need to roll against spellcraft, see the skill description.] The two missiles fly from Ael's hand and smash into the back of the orc. the orc jolts on the rope, but manages to hang on and continue to climb down. [OOC: ignore the 2d6 roll.]
Altemia scrambles down off the boxes and moves south, to engage the orcs around Ilsidur.
Uteva moves the rest of the way to the burning section of the roof. She starts to put out the fire, singing gloriously all the while. [OOC: Since you still had to move more than 5' this round, you cannot do the full 'extinguish flames' action this round. Also, you are singing, so it will take one more round to extinguish the fire.] [OOC: NOTE - ALL PC's EXCEPT FOR LOK (TOO FAR AWAY, OVER THE NOISE OF COMBAT) ARE +1 TO HIT AND +1 DAMAGE STARTING NEXT ROUND, FOR AS LONG AS UTEVA SINGS, AND FOR 5 ROUNDS AFTER. ALL ANIMALS ARE UNAFFECTED. YOU EACH NEED TO KEEP TRACK OF THIS, 'CAUSE I CAN'T.]
Ilsidur wounds the orc in front of him.
Now, the orcs' turn...
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 4 orcs (and others?) (Asst. DM Greg) d20+7=15 d20+3=4 d2=2 d20+3=8 d100=36 d20+3=17 d6+2=7 d20+3=7 d20+3=19 d6+2=8 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 7:45:07 PM
Orc #1 (Brod) cuts down at Ilsidur with his longsword, but the sword clangs noisily off the dwarf's armour. He shouts, "Lord Void, we need your assistance!"
Orc #2 has almost run out of blood to give.
Orc #3 swings wildly at Ilsidur, and completely misses. Brod starts to question whether this orc had too much to drink at supper time.
Orc #4 turns and swings at Lok, but misses the halfling in the fog.
Orc #5 swings his short sword at Trace, hitting the ranger deeply in the thigh. [OOC: Trace takes 7 hp damage.]
Orc #6 sweeps his sword at Luke, but the dog easily jumps out of the way.
Orc #7's soul wings its way to its final resting place.
Orc #8 chops down heavily with his sword at Kevil, and the blade bites deeply into the wolf's back. [OOC: Kevil takes 8 hp damage.]
Orc #9 clambers over the sill, and moves about 1/3 of the way down the rope.
Orc #10 climbs the rest of the way to the floor, and unslings his quarterstaff.
Anyone within 50 feet of the center crate hears a loud pop from the top of the crate. A tall, dark, hooded figure appears on the top of the crate, and begins to turn to survey the room.
Alyndar d4+1=3 d4+1=4 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 9:32:50 PM
With his mind on what's at hand, Aly lets loose another Spell at #9 (believe its the same one i spelled before) Magic Missile. doing 7 points of damage.
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d20=9 d20=5 d20=16 d20=20 d6=3 d6=1 d10=5 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 10:03:40 PM
(OOC:Rolled 9 for ride of 7 ranks = 16 vs DC 10) Thomas can tell it has been a while since he has riden a horse because his grace is on his friend's back is not as easy to produce as it used to be. As he regains his composure from Pryte's rearing attack, Pryte-Honos is already moving forward. The tandem approaches orc 6 that is engaged with Luke and with a fury that is hard to match they strike swiftly as if they practiced the maneuver many times. Without slowing from the short charge, Pryte-Honos raises up on his two hind legs and lashes out with his forehooves again. (rolled 5 and 16 + 6 each = 11 and 22 doing 7 and 5 hp damage respectively.) Being more prepared for the maneuver this time, Thomas needs not wait for his friend's hooves to touch the floor before he starts the downward swing of his large sword. With the added momentum combined with the reel that the orc must be feeling from the horse's attack, Thomas brings the sword quickly and cleanly into the orc. (rolled natural 20 critical hit + 8 to melee = 28 doing 5 x 2 + 4 = 14 hp damage.)
With the orc's blood still dripping from his sword, and his own warm blood running freely between the slats of his splint mail, Thomas lets forth a wild cry. "Where is bear!?!" As Pryte-Honos looks with enraged eyes down at the orc's crumbled body, and snorts loudly.
Altemia (+1/+1), Tara, and Kevil d20+3=16 d6+1=2 d20+3=6 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 11:24:59 PM
Kevil winces as the blade bites into him, but he doesn't give up. He attacks the orc but not as well as he can given his wounds (16 att/2 dmg). He gives a half-hearted attempt to trip his opponent as well.
Tara is upset that she was unable to topple her foe and so attacks with even more gusto (6 att). Unfortunately, her hurry and rage cause her to miss him.
Altemia starts a bit when she sees the hooded figure appear near her on the carton. Thinking quickly, she casts Summon Nature's Ally I. (Range 35', duration 2 rounds)
"I call the Tiny Viper to help us tonight!"
She places the viper on top of the crate with the hooded figure and tells it to attack the figure up there with it.
Trace and Radiant (Trace is inspired +1) d20+9=14 d20+7=17 d8+5=12 d8+5=8 d20+6=8 d6+4=9 Tuesday April 10th, 2001 11:25:35 PM
Trace with his short sword in left hand and long sword in his right, he whirls around orc #5 with such effectiveness causeing blood to flie through the air in allmost a slowmotion effect. Trace's attack seems to be a sort of danceing to Uteva's singing from above and he is compelled to fight on with a vengence that runs through his body like blood through his viens. (If orc 5 drops with first hit the second hit will be on orc #10). Radiant gives a loud screech in the air above as he dives down at #10. (Second damage roll is to be ignored and last damage roll is to take its place due to diffrent sword used.)
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+6=19 d8+1=7 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 4:24:48 AM
Sly knoches another arrow, and aims at the #1 orc (who wants his boss) Let's the arrow fly and hitting him again. Then a pop is heard and this figure appears on the crate. "What's this? Another form of trouble?"
Luke will go back to Alyndar for next time he is needed and leave these orcs for the horse,
Lok Mufflefoot d20+8=22 d4+3=4 d4+2=3 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 2:09:20 PM
Unsure as to how his swing and his ball missed both when the ball had never missed it's mark before, the halfling slumps his shoulders and simply swings again unenthusiastically knowing that this was not going well at all (to hit 22, damage 4). Wondering how the beast managed to injure the wolf through the dense fog the halfling says "Terrific!" once again with a biting mocking tone to the silver ball (3 damage from the autohit ball, assuming that it hits plus sv.vs stun)
Ael d'Gaiaim (SClimb, SeeInvis, Inspired +1, Shielded) d20+5=9 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 5:30:06 PM
Frowning, Ael looks around. He remebers the presence of that large Orc, "Bear", at the last fight, but doesn't see him around. Not wanting anyone to get surprised by a large, invisible bearhug, he looks about, trying to spot a big Orc. (Spot check meets DC 9. Sigh.)
Making an arcane gesture, Ael calls up his shield spell and directs it toward the south rope. He then continues looking for Bear or any other invisible creatures.
Uteva (Flying, Inspired) Wednesday April 11th, 2001 6:09:51 PM
Teva belts out the chorus of her ballad rather emphatically as she uses kicks and pot-thumpings to knock out the hottest-glowing coals. Once she's confident the fire won't restart, she takes a 5' flutter, putting her directly above the broken window and generally over orc #9. Grinning, she drops the pot, but doesn't spare much effort to target the climber.
Ilsidur d20+8=28 d20+8=13 d10+3=11 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 7:54:49 PM
Ilsidur whacks once more at orc #3, swinging over the orc's shield and chopping deeply into the orc's neck. [OOC: Hit AC28 for 11 hp damage.]
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 4 party action results (Asst. DM Greg) d2=1 2d6(2+2)=4 d20+1=11 d20+2=8 d100=81 d100=40 d12=3 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 8:28:24 PM
Alyndar's 2 magic missiles slam into orc #9, partway down the rope. The orc expires, and releases the rope. The body just misses orc #6. [OOC: Ceil, have Luke make a Reflex save vs. DC15, or take 4 hp damage from the falling body.] The body crashes down, snapping the quarterstaff that was slung over the orc's back.
Sir Thomas' horse smashes another orc skull like a melon, and orc #6 slumps to the ground, dead. (Making Sir Thomas' sword swing rather redundant. Too bad, good roll.)
Kevil's bite catches the orc on the arm, and the wolf tries to pull the orc down. This time, the wolf is successful, and the orc stumbles to his knees. Tara snaps at orc #4, but misses. Altemia's tiny viper appears on the crate, next to the hooded orc.
Trace's first swing glances off orc #5's shield, but the short sword stabs through the armour, and pierces the orc's heart. Orc #5 gives a small gurgle and drops dead to the ground. Orc #10 manages to stave off Radiant's attack.
Sly's arrow drives into the side of Orc #1 (Brod), right beside the other two. Poor Brod is starting to look like a pincushion.
Lok finally manages to make out a solid form in the fog, and stabs orc #4 with his dagger, drawing an "oomph" from the wounded orc.
Ael does not spot anyone new in the battle (but stay tuned...). The ropes haven't moved since the climbing down (and falling off) has stopped.
Uteva has put out the fire, and ahs saved the warehouse, for the time being. Her dropped pot goes wide of everyone, and clangs to the floor.
Ilsidur's swing almost severs the orc's #3's head, and the creature falls sideways to the ground, dead.
Now, the orcs' turn...
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 5 orcs (and others?) (Asst. DM Greg) d20+7=13 d100=33 d20=8 d20+3=16 d6+2=8 d4=4 8d6(2+6+1+1+4+1+1+1)=17 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 9:12:16 PM
Orc #1 (Brod) swings at Ilsidur, but again only manages to bounce the blow off of Ilsidur's banded mail.
Orc #4 swings at Lok with his short sword, but misses the halfling in the fog.
Since the dog did not attack this round, Orc #8 swings at Kevil again, slashing deeply into the wolf's side with his short sword. [OOC: Kevil takes 8 hp damage.]
Orc # 10 summons a fiendish hyena, to stand right beside Trace.
Orc #11, the hooded orc, turns and looks for the largest, most imposing target, and shouts, "Now, you die!" A lightning bolt flashes from his pointed finger, blasting into Sir Thomas and his horse. [OOC: for 17 damage, reflex save vs. DC17 for only 9 points damage. Clay, both Sir Thomas and his horse need to save separately.]
Just as the lightning bolt is smashing into Sir Thomas, the ground shakes as if a small earthquake was happening, directly below the warehouse! There is a loud crashing bang inside the central crate, and the door blows off the west side, smashing into the small crate that Ilsidur placed for cover. A blast of flame and smoke shoots out of the new opening in the side of the crate.
Void, on the crate (Asst. DM Greg) d20+3=15 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 9:17:43 PM
Void is jolted on the top of the crate, but manages to keep his feet. As the sound of the blast fades away, he shouts, "WHAT? NOOOO!"
Sir Thomas and Pryte d20=12 d20=16 d8=2 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 10:14:17 PM
Thomas never was very agile, and it turns out as no exception here. Wanting to save his friend from the pain, Thomas pulls the reings to get Pryte-Honos' head out of the way and lays his body over his mount's for protection. (rolled 12 for Thomas + 0 = 12 and 16 for Pryte-Honos +5 = 21) The pain is almost overwhelming for Thomas, but he takes it stoicly like a good knight. Pryte-Honos knows beyond a doubt that this Void fellow must go next. He charges toward the box in the middle of the room with all of the speed that he can gather. Thomas has a hard time getting into his belt pouch becaue of the bumpy ride, but he does so and removes the healing potion Uteva gave to him. he manages to gulp it down on the way to the crate. Thanks Uteva!! (Thomas gets 2hp)Thomas shows nothing but rage as if he is fit to fight when he shows up at the crate.
Alyndar Wednesday April 11th, 2001 11:21:18 PM
Aly turns , sees the hooded orc regain his balance and then mutters a curse. He turns, facing the hooded orc's position and casts a spell: Glitterdust, centered on the hooded orc. (ooc save is dc16)
Aly then turns to luke, and yells for him to attack orc #10.
Trace and Radiant (Radiant +1 to attack and dmg.) d20+9=14 d20+7=21 d8+5=10 d6+4=9 d20+6=20 d2=1 Wednesday April 11th, 2001 11:40:10 PM
Trace drops orc 5 and continues his sword mastery while he moves on to orc 10. Swinging and stabbing blood begins to fly again. Trace calls for Radaint to attack the summoned heyina. With a blood curdeling screch from above, Radiant dives with a blinding swiftness and digs one of his talons into the back of the scavanger dog that has been summoned to attack his family.
(I figured that the ac for orc 10 is lower than orc 5)
Trace and Radiant Wednesday April 11th, 2001 11:41:45 PM
sorry I didnt include my rolls in my post. very tired.
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+5=22 Thursday April 12th, 2001 3:58:51 AM
Sly look towards the Hooded One and whispers to his armor*armor off*. Then points to the Hooded One and said"Poo Doo"(2 magic missles to hit him). Then wispers to his armor*armor on*.
(OOC:Luke makes his save) After getting the order to attack(which is happy to do)take off running and will jump on, then off the wagon to get to orc#10(in the next round)
Sly Foxx d8+6=11 d8+6=14 Thursday April 12th, 2001 4:05:55 AM
OOC:I fogot to roll for damages of yhe two magic missles. I think this is right with Utiva's song.
Lok Mufflefoot d20+7=21 d20+5=18 d4+2=4 d4=2 Thursday April 12th, 2001 7:51:57 AM
Lok is invigorated by finally seeming to get his bearrings. Pulling the sharp dagger from Bear orcs brother out of his wrist sheathe, the halfling tries to finish what the orc started. The halfling stabs pretty accurately with his left hand and follows with a slightly less accurate stab from his right.(don't know if there are any bonuses on the sharp dagger from the bears brother)
Ael (SClimb, SeeInvis, Shielded, Inspired +1) d20+12=32 Thursday April 12th, 2001 3:12:50 PM
Ael, curious about Void and the exploding crate (and able to tell that the orcs are being capably mopped up), skitters 10' closer to the crate, and quickly casts a simple spell. (Detect Magic.) (Roll is for spellcraft, to recognise any auras, etc.)
Altemia (+1/+1), Tara, and Kevil d20+4=23 d4=4 d20+3=12 d6+1=4 Thursday April 12th, 2001 4:23:00 PM
Altemia moves around the side of the crate in an attempt to flank Orc #1.
Her tiny viper bites at hooded figure on top of the crate (att 23 dmg 4+poison. Poison DC 11 otherwise initial and secondary dmg of 1d6 temp Constitution) and gets a good bite on his leg.
Tara once again attacks her large foe (Orc 4). Her attack comes closer this time, but in the fog she is unsure whether or not she really got him with her teeth or if it was just cloth (att 12 dmg 4).
Kevil lets out something close to a scream when the orcs blade bites into him. He quickly crumples to the ground unconscious and bleeding.
Uteva (Flying, Inspired) d20+6=12 d6=6 Thursday April 12th, 2001 4:58:50 PM
Teva lauches into the ballad's finale and the notes shiver through the air. While readying her bow, she flies 90' west through the rafters, and stops to loose a shot down at the unhappy cowled orc, intent on making his night even worse. (Hit AC 12 for 6hp) She studies the extent of the fire-blast damage, hoping that she won't have to put out yet another blaze.
Ilsidur d20+8=26 d10+3=6 Thursday April 12th, 2001 7:19:29 PM
Ilsidur chops once more with his waraxe into Brod. The strike staggers the orc leader, but somehow the creature manages to stay on his feet. [OOC: Hit AC26 for 6 hp damage.] Ilsidur sneaks a quick glance over his shoulder to see what caused the explosion. "Someone better get in there and see what's going on!" he shouts.
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 5 party action results (Asst. DM Greg) d20+7=22 d20+3=11 d100=57 2d4(1+2)+2=5 d100=9 d100=42 d20+4=14 Thursday April 12th, 2001 7:57:37 PM
Sir Thomas and Pryte charge across the warehouse floor, and reach the base of the crate. The large warhorse manages to pull up just in time to avoid crashing into the side of the large wooden box. The smell of burnt wood is very strong.
As the gold dust settles on the top of the large crate, Void feels the dust start to sting his eyes. He shakes his head, and the dust's effect is defeated.
As Trace moves past the hyena to get to orc #10, he is attacked by the large canine [OOC: attack of opportunity]. The hyena snaps at the ranger, but misses. Trace swings twice at the orc magician. His first blow with the long sword bounces off some sort of magical protection, but the short sword stabs through and pierces the orc through the chest. The orc looks startled, and then expires. [OOC: Ted, Trace only gets half strength bonus damage for his off-hand weapon; in his case +1.] As Radiant drives his (her?) claws into the hyena's back, it disappears.
When Sly says, "Armour off," nothing happens. [Ceil, the armour only comes ON when you wish it; it doesn't come off. You have to take it off normally.] However, the armour doesn't seem to affect Sly's spell, and the two missiles streak straight and true into Void's body. [Ceil, each missile does 1d4+1, and the singing has no effect on them.]
Lok's first swing misses through the fog, but his second swing connects, cutting the orc's throat, and finishing him off.
Ael's spell picks up an aura(s) coming from the direction of the crate. [Ael will be able to tell more if the spell is kept up for more turns.] The viper's bite does no damage [check the moster description, the only damage is poison]. Void shakes off the effects of the venom.
Altemia moves around to the other side of Brod. Tara's bite is redundant. [Kevil needs to roll his 10% chance to stabilize, or lose another hit point, in the party's turn.]
Uteva readies her bow and flies westward. [One move-equivalent action, and one full move, so no shooting this round].
Ilsidur's blow staggers the orc leader, but does not manage to finish him.
Now, the orcs' turn...
CP 452 vs CP 823 - round 6 orcs (and others?) (Asst. DM Greg) Thursday April 12th, 2001 8:19:45 PM
Orc #1 (Brod) sees his wonderfully co-ordinated attack come to a crashing, unsuccessful conclusion, due to the well-planned defense of CP823, and he turns to run for the fog cloud and the door. [OOC: Altemia gets an attack of opportunity with only her one main weapon.]
Orc #8 runs around the south end of the tables, and into the south end of the fog cloud.
Orc #11 (Void) shouts, "Get out!" and then disappears off the top of the crate. (Anyone with see invisible can tell that there is no-one invisible on top of the crate.)
A silence falls over the center and eastern end of the warehouse. [Ilsidur and Altemia can make a Listen check.] A commotion can still be heard coming from the west end of the warehouse, as the remaining orc(s) try to escape.
Greg (Asst. DM) testing the link to the web site Thursday April 12th, 2001 8:20:40 PM
Greg (Asst. DM) surprising himself that the link to the web site worked Thursday April 12th, 2001 8:22:15 PM
Lee-Anne will post the map at her site. (Thanks again Lee-Anne.)
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d20=18 d10=7 Thursday April 12th, 2001 9:40:43 PM
Sir Thomas takes a swipe at where the hooded figure stood before disappearing in the hopes that he didn't get very far with his dissappearing act. (Rolled 18 + 8 = 26 doing 7+4 = 11 hp damage)
Upon the assumption he hits nothing, Pryte-Honos stamps, muzzles and snorts in rage. He moves to position himself and his rider only a few feet from the secret door of the crate. Thomas yells, "Has anyone come out of this door since it exploded? Has anyone located Bear? Don't let them escape to terrorize anyone else or reorganize. Let's come together for a rallied defense!! There were eighteen orcs on the roster. We did not fight eighteen orcs here tonight. Prepare for a regrouped second effort." Thomas levels his bloodied sword at the fleeing orcs as he applies pressure to his bleeding abdomen with his shield hand. "Let Alemi judge their souls."
Trace and Radiant (Trace is inspired +1) Thursday April 12th, 2001 11:07:34 PM
Trace pulls his sowrd out of orc 10 as he falls to the floor. Trace then turns moves quicly over to the secret door to investigate what has happened and ot make sure that everyone is ok. All the while this is going on he can't seem to wonder why the dog he summoned never attacked orc 8 after he gave the command to attack.
Sly Foxx and Luke Friday April 13th, 2001 2:01:09 AM
Sly sees Faceless(Void) disappears and spots Altemia. Sly think to himself *Hmmm Little Sister has every thing well in hand.* Sly put down the bow and grabs his sword, jumps down from his place on the crates. Yell at Luke" Luke help Brother Trace." And will run to Sir Thomas side with Potions of healing.
Luke(Sly's Dog) Friday April 13th, 2001 2:04:19 AM
Will run to Trace's side
Alyndar Friday April 13th, 2001 3:01:57 AM
Aly will check to make sure the fallen orcs are not playing possum. any orc he finds alive he will tie up and gag. He then goes over and checks out the hole where the crate is.
Altemia (+1/+1), Tara, and Kevil d20+6=14 d6+2=5 d100=2 Friday April 13th, 2001 8:12:33 AM
As Brod rushes past her, Altemia takes a hurried swing at him with her scimitar (att 14, dmg 5). She then begins to moves toward Kevil. She could have sworn that she heard him scream earlier.
Tara also has Kevil on her mind. Now that she no longer has an opponenet to fight, she runs to the side of her friend.
Kevil lays on his side bleeding, but it does not seem to be getting any worse (OOC: Can't believe I made the roll!). He is still unconscious and he is whimpering in pain.
Uteva (Flying, Inspired: 5 more rounds) Friday April 13th, 2001 9:12:38 AM
Teva stops singing to curse fluidly. She flies toward the door, calling as she approaches the fog, "Lok, are you okay down there?" Slipping over the fog bank and just under the top of the warehouse door, she hovers just outside the top south corner of the door, along the wall. She keeps an arrow knocked as she keeps her ears perked, waiting for any of the 452 to emerge from the building.
Ael (SClimb, SeeInvis, Shielded, Inspired +1) Friday April 13th, 2001 11:28:11 PM
Ael continues to watch the crate area and environs, looking about for interesting magic or invisible creatures.
Ilsidur d20+4=17 Sunday April 15th, 2001 7:27:41 PM
Ilsidur yells in orcish at Brod's retreating back, "You better run, you stinking orc trash! If you show up here again, you better come with some of your better buddies; these wimps you brought this time were way to weak to be any good!"
Then he turns back to the crate, and steps towards the new doorway on the west side. He shouts, "I hear some chanting in there! Sounds like it's coming from below the crate."
What's down the hole? (Asst. DM Greg) d20+4=23 Sunday April 15th, 2001 7:53:37 PM
Aly determines that the orcs remaining lying on the floor are in fact almost all unconscious, but most are ready to expire (most are at less than zero, but only a couple are at -10 or worse).
Sly Foxx climbs down from the crates, longsword and healing potion at the ready. (Sly can run to Sir Thomas's side next round.)
Altemia's wild swing misses the retreating Brod. As she moves over to Kevil's side, she discovers that the wolf is down and unconscious (but stabilized, good roll). Tara races to her friend's side, passing two forms in the fog heading the other way.
As party members gather around the doorway blown in the side of the crate (Sir Thomas on his horse, Trace, and Ilsidur), they can see inside the crate. It appears as if an explosion has torn up the inside, with broken shelves, and pieces of armour strewn about. There is a gaping 3'x3' hole in the middle of the floor, with a faint light shining up through the hole.
Uteva bursts out of the fog (which filled the entire doorway) and heads for the south corner of the door, hovering in the air. Looking south down the street, she spots a black hood pull back into an alleyway, some 100' south and across the street. Before she can figure what to do about the hooded figure, two orcs burst out of the fog below her, and stop in the street to get their bearings. She recognizes one as Brod, the orc leader.
Ael can only detect one aura coming from the top of the crate (likely the glitterdust), and cannot detect any auras coming through the roof of the crate.
Dead orcs? (Asst. DM Greg) Sunday April 15th, 2001 7:54:51 PM
Aly determines that ALL of the orcs are unconscious or dead, none are playacting.
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos Sunday April 15th, 2001 10:33:20 PM
As Sir Thomas looks down the hole, Pryte-Honos jogs over to where Kevil is laying on the floor. Thomas climbs down from his friend's back and lays his bloody hand on the wolf after removing his shield. He then prays aloud, "Dear gracious and merciful Alemi. Grant me your healing touch that our friend Kevil can rise and fight this evil with us again. Show us your grace my lord." Thomas' hand glows faintly, then the light grows in intensity and fades. Thomas removes his bloody hand and replaces it on his side over the sword wound that is still bleeding freely. (Lay on Hands ability, 10hp restored) [OOC: all of that assuming that Pryte-Honos' movement rate is large enough to allow for all of that in one round.]
Trace and Radiant Sunday April 15th, 2001 11:57:03 PM
Trace rushes down inside the crate with swords drawn to see what exactly is going on and if anyone is still there.
Sly Foxx and Luke Monday April 16th, 2001 4:11:36 AM
Sly Knowing that Sir Thomas is hurt will run to him with the potions in pouch and sword in hand. But Sly's no fool and doe'not trust the orc, so Sly whispers "Armor On". But if you look closely, you see this boy running with out armor, then all of a sudden his armor is on. You'd swear that his armor was almost chasing Sly.
Luke is still standing there snarling at rhe orcs not knowing if they are alive or dead, but one move from them and Luke will attack.
Lok Mufflefoot d20+9=22 Monday April 16th, 2001 12:22:49 PM
Finished with the fight for now the halfling joins the others near the blown out crate. He sniffs the air carefully and searches the hole for any signs or clues as to what happened there (search roll of 22). People appearing and disappearing was a funny business to be sure. Brightly he says "My belly could use some cookies, anyone else feel the same way?"
Uteva (Flying, Inspired: 4 more rounds) d20+6=24 d6=3 Monday April 16th, 2001 2:53:45 PM
"Ah, ah, ah," Uteva cautions, to get Brod's attention. "I hate to lose an audience, but for you boys I'll make an exception. I'll let you leave safely if you agree to keep yourselves and your hooded spellcasting friend out of this Challenge zone for remainder of the night." If they refuse or ignore her, Teva puts an arrow into Brod. (Held action hits AC 24 for 3 damage). Either way, she watches them out to the 20' boundary, then flies back toward the central crate.
Altemia (Inspired), Tara, and Kevil Monday April 16th, 2001 4:24:55 PM
With Kevil's head in her lap, Altemia gratefully watches Sir Thomas lay hands upon her badly injured friend. She then lays his head back upon the floor when Tara arrives and moves toward the crate to look inside.
Ael d'Gaiaim (SClimb, SeeInvis, Shielded, Inspired +1) Monday April 16th, 2001 5:01:20 PM
Ael throws down a rope for a moment and skitters down. He runs to Sir Thomas, and hands him one of his healing potions (OOC: Cure Light), then returns to the rafters.
If he is able, he will move westward (in the supports) as much as possible to watch the retreating Orcs.
Ilsidur Monday April 16th, 2001 7:38:47 PM
Ilsidur pauses at the opening into the side of the crate, and shouts, "Is everyone alright; is anyone down or needs healing? Otherwise, we better see what is going on down below." He waits to hear if anyone else needs help.
An old friend (Asst. DM Greg) d20+3=4 Monday April 16th, 2001 7:49:09 PM
Brod and the other orc turn to look up at Uteva, and Brod shouts, "We are not done with you yet! We can still beat you in the end!" And he and the other orc turn and run down the street towards the alley to the south. Uteva's arrow adds injury to insult, and finds a crack in Brod's armour, piercing his shoulder. Brod staggers a bit, but continues running south down the street.
Trace steps into the crate, over to the edge of the gaping hole in the floor. Looking into the hole, he can see a number of orcs in the room below. One of them is heading towards a chest in the corner. As he looks across the room below, a large figure steps into view. Trace recognizes the large orc, and Bear shouts up, "Well, little elf, have you come for another dance with me?" Then he laughs and steps back. Another orc steps up beside him and looses an arrow at the ranger, that misses widely and buries itself in the roof of the crate.
Alyndar d4+1=3 d4+1=3 Monday April 16th, 2001 8:27:39 PM
Aly hears the confrontation near the hole and sees the arrow shoot up to the ceiling. He rushes over and casts a magic missile at the orc that fired the arrow. (for 6 hitpoints of damage)
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d8=3 Monday April 16th, 2001 8:37:43 PM
Sir Thomas accepts the healing potion from Ael with much gratitude. "Thank you friend. I am in need of this." He also addresses Sly for his efforts to get him some healing. "Thank you also my friend. I needed the help, and this," Thomas shows his blood covered palm, "doesn't seem to be getting any better on its own." Thomas winces as he removes his hand and then replaces it with some pressure.
With the commotion coming from inside the crate, Thomas climbs back onto Pryte-Honos and inquires, "What is going on in there? How can we help? Tell us what to do. Is there another way to get into that crate? Those who can, instruct us so that we can help. Did they enter through the sewer?" Pryte-Honos dances around in his impatience to re-enter the fight.
Lok Mufflefoot Monday April 16th, 2001 11:35:56 PM
Seeing an impending danger yet, and no really good way of approaching that danger the halfling says to Alyndar urgently "Oil Bomb!". Not knowing whether the bomb would require A lamp full of oil or not the halfling runs towards the nearest lamp near the shop itself. If Alyndar needed the lamp to set off an oil bomb down there the halfling would retrieve it for him. If not, the halfling would grab it and try to go straight into the basement and engage the orcs before they could rob the shop succesfully. Perhaps he could throw the lamp full of oil hard enough for it to spill it's oily contents everywhere and set them aflame.
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil d20+2=20 Tuesday April 17th, 2001 12:21:49 AM
Altemia hears the orc yell up to Trace. She quickly whistles to Tara to join her and moves inside the crate. Looking over at Trace she winks at him and then jumps down into the space below (Jump check 20).
Sly Foxx and Luke Tuesday April 17th, 2001 4:24:56 AM
As Sly is running and just about passing the crate. Up comes an arrow, An Arrow?? wonders Sly. Now Sly must come to a stop. Sly will grab the side of the crate and peek in side. Then yells to all around him, "A TUNNEL! That's how No Face got in here and Low and Behold our old friend Bear. And He's out of sight of those stones the Guards put in here." Sly takes out the potion, "Sir Thomas I have a potion for you here. Now that Trace is going down there and Altemia is close behind him, that's not enough. Now who's going next, we cannot all go down there, BUT I'll volunteer."
Trace and Radiant (Trace is inspired +1) d20+9=14 d20+7=11 d8+5=7 d20+6=12 Tuesday April 17th, 2001 8:18:24 AM
Trace quickly moves forward to the orc with the bow and begins to work his swords at the foul creature. (if 14 hits does 7hp's dmg.) Trace calls for him to attack also but he finds it somewhat hard to manuver around in the small confines of this room. (rolled eleven for miss) Trace then shouts up above, come on there is plenty of room down here for all to fight, and dont dare throw down a fire bomb, it will kill me and destroy what we are protecting.
Uteva (Flying, Inspired: 3 more rounds) Tuesday April 17th, 2001 12:41:21 PM
Teva flies back toward the charred central crate, calling out as she comes, "Brod and that spell-slinger have scampered off down the street. No guarantees that they won't be back, though." She drops her bow near Ilsidur's crate and swoops past her friends through the top of the side door, drawing her ruby-hilted daggers along the way. Grateful for Lok's light, she plunges through the blasted hole in the crate's floor to arrive beside Trace in the (?direction?) bottom right corner of the underground room. She hovers just above the nearest orcs, so as not to leave herself open to attacks of opportunity.
Ael (Shielded toward hole in crate, inspired +1, sclimb, see invis) Tuesday April 17th, 2001 3:52:21 PM
Ael scuttles down to join the group, not entering the crate but preparing to help out.
He readys his crossbow and directs his shield to come between him and the Orcs.
Down the hole - round 2 (Asst. DM Greg) d20+3=19 d6+2=8 d20+3=23 d20+3=4 d6+2=4 d20+11=24 d3+4=7 Tuesday April 17th, 2001 8:57:07 PM
Altemia drops down the hole, and orc #4 takes a swing at her with his short sword. As she is recovering her balance, the orc's blade bites deeply into her side (Altemia takes 8 hp damage).
Orc #1 steps past orc #2 and Bear, farther into the tunnel. Orc # 2 steps past Bear and moves into the vacated square. He swings his short sword at Altemia as well. His blow also connects, slashing Altemia in the arm. (Altemia takes 4 hp damage). Altemia can take an attack of opportunity against either orc #1 or orc #2 or orc #5 (specify which), one swing only with main weapon (Altemia also gets her regular action).
Orc #3 drops his bow, and readies his sword and shield.
Orc #5 continues to try to pick the locks on the chest, shouting in orcish. (Anyone understanding can tell he shouts, "Get these @#%^#$%^@#$% out of here!)
Bear takes a halfhearted swing at Altemia, shouting, "You send weak women to fight Bear? Bah! Where are real men!" (Altemia takes another 7 hp damage.)
Ilsidur (sorry, should have gone before DM post) Tuesday April 17th, 2001 9:38:13 PM
Ilsidur moves into the crate, his ears perking up at the sound of Bear's voice.
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d8=1 Tuesday April 17th, 2001 10:28:48 PM
Seeing that the crate is becoming increasingly crowded, Thomas decides to go look for the way the orcs came in. As Pryte-Honos begins to jog his way to the warehouse door and the fog Thomas shouts, "Which way is the entrance into the armor chamber? I am going to find it and block their escape." More quietly Thomas notes to his friends, "keep in mind that the chest is armed with a fire trap." Thomas accepts the potion from Sly too, thank you friend, I hope you can afford this. If not I owe you a huge debt." Thomas and Pryte-Honos wait for the reply and then charge out into the street. As Pryte-Honos charges into the fog and out into the street, Thomas downs the potion. he looks in the cobbled street for a man-hole because he feels strongly that they must have used the sewer system to tunnel in. Otherwise he can't think of how they got under the floor in the middle of the city. Any entrace into the sewer will suffice. Thomas will jump from his mounts back and pull the cover free and jump in.
[OOC: rolled 1+1 for hp retrieved from potion. Lee-Anne just told me about the +1 involved, so I took +2 for the other two potions I drank that i didn't count that bonus.]
Sly Foxx and Luke Tuesday April 17th, 2001 10:29:01 PM
"Alright! Little Sister, get out of the way so I can get down there also. I don't want to land on top if you."said Sly then turns to Ilsidur. "Ilsidur, The samr goes for you, when you get down there, roll or get out of the way, because I'll be comming down right behind you." Sly will take his sword out of his belt and the dagger out of his boot. Yells at Luke "Luke stay and protect. Luke looks back at Sly and wimpers.
Altemia (Inspired), Tara, and Kevil d20+6=23 d20+6=25 d20+5=23 d20+6=17 d6+3=4 d6+3=5 d6+3=9 d6+2=3 d20=10 Tuesday April 17th, 2001 11:02:48 PM
Altemia winces in pain from the many attacks she receives. When she hears Bears comment, she looks offended and almost starts to attack him, but changes her mind. "I'll leave him to Trace. He deserves it," she thinks to herself. Instead, she moves to attack the orc trying to pick the lock on the chest (#5, will also use AOO on him as well).
As soon as she sees that it is possible, she quickly swings her scimitar at him ( att 23 dmg 4). After regaining her complete balance, she attacks him once again, but this time with both her weapons (crit with scimitar (25 and 17) sickle att 23, total dmg 17). She strikes well for each of attack and hopes that she has just given him enough pain to slow him down.
Tara, slow to the call of her human friend, finally rises and follows to the crate. She looks down into the hole and sees Altemia fighting. She quickly decides to follow her into the hole in the floor (jump 10). She tries to angle over Altemia and land behind her, so she will not effect her fighting.
Kevil struggles to rise to his feet. He is still feeling the effects of the swords upon his body.
Trace and Radiant (Trace is inspired +1) d20+9=10 d20+7=23 d6+2=6 d20+6=22 d2=2 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 1:13:13 AM
Trace is now inside the crate and down inside the area. (I guess both actions were used last round to perform this.) Trace makes his move on Bear missing wildly with the first swing but makeing a painfull stab with his short sword, (hitting ac of 23 for 6 hps dmg.) While in action Trace calls for Radiant to attack Bear and with that word, Radiant darts accross the room and digs two talons deep into the shoulders of Bear.
Uteva (Flying, Inspired: 2 more rounds) d20+6=25 d20+6=20 d4+2=6 d4+2=4 d20+2=15 d4+2=6 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 10:51:00 AM
"North, Sir Thomas! The tunnel starts off to the North!" Uteva screams, as she attacks the orc before her with a vicious flurry. With her right hand, she finds an unprotected spot under his armpit, and drives the dagger in to the hilt (AC 25 threat, AC 20 crit) doing terrible things for her opponent's respiratory integrity (10 hp damage to #4). Her off-hand dagger strikes sparks off the armour over his belly (AC 15 for 6, if hits).
The little bard grins visciously. "Altemia, make room for the others to get down here. And will somebody please stop that idiot orc at the chest before he gets us all killed!"
Lok Mufflefoot d20=3 d20+5=13 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 11:36:54 AM
Having heard the yell the halfling leaps down the hole in the cramped quarters and tries to make his way for Bear orc. Screaming a bloodcurdling halfling scream, Lok seems to swing his daggers valaintly, yet uselessly (3 should be ten because of plusses but did't take for some reason).
Ilsidur Wednesday April 18th, 2001 6:00:25 PM
Ilsidur, seeing that there is no room to fight in the basement, puts away his axe and shield and goes outside to pick up his crossbow.
Ael d'Gaiaim (Shield toward the hole, inspired +1, sclimb, see invis) d20+4=23 d8+1=6 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 6:14:30 PM
(OOC: I rolled for attack but had to repost. Formerly Ael hit AC 18, NOT AC 23. The 23 roll should be disregarded. [That took into account Inspiration and his ranged attack bonus.] ...I believe Ael can do this in one round, but may be wrong:)
Seeing his companions in danger, Ael leaps into the crate, but does not decend into the hole. Instead, he climbs around to the side of it, using his eerie climbing ability, and aims his crossbow at the Orc at the chest. (#5) He lets fly a bolt (hitting AC 18 for 6 damage.)
Ael is now crouching in the SW corner of the crate. (He can still see Orc 5 and the chest, if he stands up.)
Down in the basement, up in the warehouse, and in the crate (Asst. DM Greg) - round 2 - results of party actions d20+1=3 d20+7=24 d20+4=18 2d6(2+3)=5 2d6(5+2)=7 d20+2=16 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 6:36:20 PM
As Sir Thomas and his horse charge into the fog, Pryte-Honos seems to pause a bit, remembering something...but continues to charge forward (missed Wisdom check). In the fog cloud, vision is limited to 5', and suddenly the wagon appears in front of the charging horse (missed spot check). Too late to stop, the horse tries to make a mighty leap over the wagon, but catches a front leg on the far side of the wagon and crashes to the ground (missed Strength check). (Pryte-Honos takes 5 hp damage). Sir Thomas flies off the horse's back, and lands with a "thud" in the street. (Sir Thomas takes 7 hp damage, can roll Dex check vs DC20, with armour penalty applying; if successful, only take 4 hp damage.) [OOC: I will assume Sir Thomas drank the heal potion before the fall.]
Sly readies his weapons, to drop into the hole when the way is clear.
Altemia's blows rain down on the poor defensless orc, who was minding his own business at the chest, not hurting anyone. The three blows hack large chunks out of the orc, and it falls slumped over the chest, apparently unconscious. [OOC: Remember, in 3rd edition, nothing dies until -10.] Tara jumps down the hole, trying to avoid Altemia, but misjudges the lady's movements, and clips her. (Altemia make Dex Check vs. DC 15, with armour penalty applying, or lose one attack next round.) Tara rolls into the southwest corner, and can stand up next round.
There is no way that Trace can reach Bear, unless he wants to push Altemia out of the way first. Instead, his swing hits orc #3, biting deeply into the orc's right bicep. Radiant refuses to enter the basement and attack.
Uteva's dagger thrust pierces the orc's armour at the throat, drawing a gush of blood.
Lok realizes there is NO MORE room in the basement, and bides his time for next round to drop in.
Ilsidur picks up the still-loaded crossbow off the crate near the doorway.
Down in the basement - round #3 - orc's turn d20+4=18 d6+2=5 d2=1 d20+4=10 d20+4=21 d6+2=7 d100=12 d20+11=26 d3+4=5 d20+7=16 d3+2=5 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 6:45:38 PM
Orc #1 casts a spell, and a shimmering briefly appears, the disappears, on his body.
Orc #2 swings his short sword at Altemia, biting into her upper arm, and drawing more blood from her already-battered body. (Altemia takes 5 hp.)
Orc #3 swings at Tara as she is getting up off the floor, but misses the quick wolf, and carves a gouge out of the earthen basement floor.
Orc #4 swings back at the hovering Uteva, hitting her in the side, slicing through her armour. (Uteva takes 7 hp damage.)
Orc #5 continues to bleed on the chest.
Bear shouts, "Get out of my way, little girl, let me at brother-killer!" He swings twice with his mighty hands at Altemia, hitting her twice, once on either side of her head. (for 5+5=10 hp damage).
Alyndar d4+1=3 d4+1=3 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 7:24:14 PM
Aly sees Bear step up and hit Alt twice in the had.
With a few arcane words spoken, and a point at Bear, 2 streaks of energy fly out of his outstretched hand, striking Bear in his chest, doing 6hp of damage. (magic missile)
Aly then takes a step back from the hole, turns around and watches the door into the crate, making sure nothing is sneaking up behind us.
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d20=9 Wednesday April 18th, 2001 9:20:15 PM
[OOC: rolled 9 for DEX check, + 9 for DEX, -7 for armor penalty = 12. Not even close.]
Thomas hits the cobbled street hard and skids across it with the momentum of the fall. His armor throws sparks as he does so. Thomas' left wrist bends backwards under the awkwardness of the fall, and the magical burn on his back is quite irritated from the abuse of the fall and the shift of his armor. Thomas cries out in surprise by all of the pain from the wound. When he comes to a stop he stands and curses loudly and clenches every muscle in his body that he has voluntary control over. He grips his left wrist in pain, but puts that out of his mind quickly. He retrieves his sword and shield if the have separated from his person, then exclaims to himself, "I wouldn't be surprised if there were a large group of orcs out here waiting for me to emerge from the building despite the fact that the fight is inside." Thomas mentally soothes Pryte-Honos for the mistake, but doesn't take time to remount his friend. Instead he sprints down the street to the north as Uteva suggested. The first manhole he finds he removes it and jumps down. Not blindly though. Thomas will take the time to look down the hole. He would like to hurry as much as possible, but avoid any more rediculous damage that he can.
Pryte-Honos feels the pain of the wagon on his shins and doesn't like it any more than THomas. He nahs also in surprise as he hits the ground hard. He appologizes to Thomas as his friend charges down the street in his blind hurry to get back to his friends. Prtye-Honos makes sure that Thomas gets out of the 20' radius of the area of challenge and then returns to the crate. He will keep an eye on the door and the warehouse so that those in the crate can concentrate on what is going on down below. He understands that he will have little to do with any of the remainder of the fight and paces at the thought of having to stand idle. He snorts and stamps as he is forced to listen to the battle rage down below as he watches the warehouse.
Trace and Radiant (Trace is inspired +1) d20+9=24 d20+7=21 d8+5=7 d6+2=3 Thursday April 19th, 2001 12:18:36 PM
Trace reclaims his bearings on where he is and takes qick care of orc#3 (hitting twice on ac of 24 and 21 for 7 and 3hp's dmg, if first strike drops orc#3 Trace steps into his spot and hits Bear, if both hits are needed to drop #3 then Trace will step into the square afterwards.) Trace smiles a bloody grin at Bear and speaks in Orcish, "You should have killed me when you hade the chance, you freak of an orc. Your time has come to join your dead brother!"
Uteva (Flying, Inspired: 1 more round) d20+6=20 d4+2=3 d20+2=19 d4+2=3 Thursday April 19th, 2001 1:28:12 PM
"Ouch!" Teva curses, "Slaughter it!" She retaliates against her persistent opponent, daggers flashing in and out quickly to hit orc #4 twice. (AC 20 & 19, 3+3=6 hp damage.)
"There's a spellslinger down here," she calls, in case those up above couldn't see, "in the tunnel behind that great, hairy sack of an excrescence of maggots!" While she fights, she tries to determine whether there is room for her to float above the chest and fight, and whether she can flit past Bear into the tunnel.
Sly Foxx and Luke Thursday April 19th, 2001 7:31:23 PM
Sly sit at the edge of the opening with his feet dangling into the cellar roof, he's ready to jump in as soon as there is room for him. Still clutching his aword and Special Dagger.
Ael d'Gaiaim Thursday April 19th, 2001 7:41:59 PM
Ael grits his teeth as he tries to move in, and finding the area packed. He says to Sly: "I'm going to follow Thomas. I hope he is right and there is a way to come at them from the other side."
Running, he follows Sir Thomas out the door.
Ilsidur d20+5=8 Thursday April 19th, 2001 8:59:38 PM
Ilsidur steps back into the crate and looks down into the hole, sighting his crossbow on orc #4. He lets the bolt fly, but hits the orc's shield, and the bolt glances off harmlessly into the dirt floor.
Lok Mufflefoot d20+9=29 d20+9=19 d4=4 d4=4 Thursday April 19th, 2001 9:15:04 PM
From above the fight, the halfling throws two daggers from his belt down the hole at the nearest visible orc. Wishing to join his friends down below the halfling can do nothing more than hope for the best and hope his daggers find their mark.
Down in the basement - round #3 - results of party actions d20+2=16 d20+2=17 d20+1=15 Thursday April 19th, 2001 9:29:44 PM
[OOC: I added up the damage to Altemia, and she is definitely down, so the center square is open.]
Alyndar shifts around in the crate so he can see Bear, and the two magic missiles shock the big orc. But he shakes the blasts off, and waits for the next victim to step up.
Sir Thomas gets up, dons his sword and shield, and moves partway north down the street. He sees no obvious sewer entry points, in the 150' or so he can see in the light from the street lanterns. To the north of the the warehouse, on the same side of the street, there is a 4' wide alley, and then a large house (about 50' by 100') with an apparent yard in the back. There are no lights on in the house.
Trace's blows bite deeply into orc #3, dropping the creature in its tracks. As Trace steps into the recently-vacated place, and issues his challenge, Bear breaks into a huge toothy grin, and says, "Ah, brother-killer. I see you have come for more, come and see me."
Uteva's flashing daggers cut little pieces out of orc #4's armour, as well as his skin.
The space below Sly Foxx opens up due to Altemia's collapse, and he jumps down. He barely manages to keep his feet, and can act next round.
Ael dashes across the warehouse, reaching the edge of the fog cloud and nearly running into the wagon, but stopping at the last moment.
Ilsidur's bolt does indeed miss.

Orc #1 shouts something in orcish, and suddenly a hyena appears between Tara and Uteva, saliva dripping from its open jaws.
Orc #2 swings at Trace with his short sword, clipping the ranger in the shoulder. (Trace takes 5 hp damage.)
Orc #4 continues to attack Uteva, missing the hovering bard with a wild swing with his short sword.
Bear swings wildly at Trace with both arms, but Bear's anger at facing his brother-killer again has let his emotions dominate his attacks, and all his swings miss Trace completely. [OOC: Can you believe it?]
Can Uteva hover over the chest and fight? (Asst. DM Greg) Thursday April 19th, 2001 9:40:46 PM
Uteva will be able to fit over the chest and attack while flying, but it will cause some problems for her, since the chest is rather large (4'x3'x3').
Alyndar Thursday April 19th, 2001 10:46:36 PM
Aly looks down at Bear and smiles a wide sheepish grin, then mutters a few arcane words, rubs some mystical items in between his hands and then claps his hands together and points at Bear, casting Daze on him.
</ooc save is dc14 - will negates, otherwise Bear cannot do anything for 1 round>

Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos Friday April 20th, 2001 12:10:41 AM
With a thousand things running through his raging mind, Thomas searches for the most likely place to start digging a tunnel to get underneath the warehouse. He mentally asks Pryte-Honos to come to the street and help him to look for the entrance to the tunnel.
Pryte-Honos rushes out of the warehouse, FULLY AWARE THAT THERE IS A CART BLOCKING THE DOOR AND SO TAKES CARE TO GO AROUND IT. He then sprints down the street to meet up with Thomas.
As Thomas searches he thinks frantically. *How would the orcs know to tunnel? How would they know which part of the warehouse contained the secret room? How would they conceal their workings? What is the shortest route to get under the warehouse?* This scenario is too fishy for Thomas.
Thomas thinks that the most obvious place is the house. He runs up to it and bangs on the walls and the door and looks in windows and runs around back. He calls out to the owner of the house. "Hello in there!! I need your help!! Can you please help me?" Thomas is very loud in his efforts to get help. [OOC: What does Thomas find in his investigation of the inside and outside of the house. Do any signs that his noise as awakened the resident appear?]
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+1=19 Friday April 20th, 2001 4:46:05 AM
As soon as there is a space for Sly to jump in and land in a crouch possion. Sly look into Bears eyes and anger rises. "Well! Well! what do we have here? A Big Fat Ugly Orc." Said Sly,"Have you come for something? The Armor? No! Not you? AH! Yes, it must be this Special Dagger."Sly hold up the dagger for Bear to see. "I took it off Your Brother Dead Body. Want it back? Well come and get it." Sly will get up to his full lenth.

Sly attacks Bear with all the hate he never knew he had in him. Sly swings his sword and thrusts with the dagger. Seeing the supprise in Bear's eyes, Sly swings and thrust at him again.
Altemia, Tara and Kevil d20+3=21 d6+1=6 d100=37 Friday April 20th, 2001 1:55:08 PM
Tara turns on the hyena and attacks. (att 21, dmg 6) She grabs the hyena by the neck and tries to pull her down (attempts to trip hyena).
Kevil moves around in the warehouse. He wimpers as he moves. Some of the whimpering is due to his wounds and some is due to the fact that he can't help.
Altemia lies is the bottom of the crate unconcious and bleeding (37) as the fighting goes on around her.
Ael D'Gaiaim (SClimb, See Invis, Shielded) Friday April 20th, 2001 2:00:19 PM
Ael continues out into the street and, hearing Sir Thomas at the house's door, runs to meet him. "I can't get down there, the basement is filled with friends and foes alike. Let's find that tunnel!"
Ael is still barefoot, and is glad the streets are in good condition.
Uteva (Flying) d20+5=15 d4+1=4 d20+1=15 d4+1=2 Friday April 20th, 2001 2:03:19 PM
((OOC Inspiration has expired, folks.))
When the hyena appears, Teva redoubles her efforts to remove the tenacious orc #4, and manages to get a couple more blows past his guard (AC 15 twice, for 6 damage). She throws a few feints toward the hyena to help divide its attention. "Trace, Sly, you've got toothy trouble behind you," she warns. "We'll try to keep it off your back. Trust one carrion-eater to summon another."
Trace and Radiant d20+8=17 d20+6=20 d8+4=11 d6+2=6 Saturday April 21st, 2001 8:07:31 PM
Trace spins on Bear and begins to work his two swords as if an artist at work, (hits twice ac 17 and 20 for 11 and 6 hps dmg for a total of 17). Trace begins to spill the blood of Bear again, the same as the night before. Trace hopes with the help of his friends this foul creature will not escape again. Shouting to whoever is listening, someone help Altemia she is down next to me."
Alyndar Saturday April 21st, 2001 9:41:21 PM
Casts Invisibility on himself. Then waits for an opportunity to drop into the room below to help Alteima.
Ilsidur d20+5=8 Sunday April 22nd, 2001 7:46:32 PM
Ilsidur looks down into the basement, and watches Altemia fall unconcious. He shouts down, "Sly, you've got to move out of the way! If I don't get down and heal Altemia right away, she could die!" He fires another bolt ineffectually past orc #4.
Down in the basement - round #4 - result of party actions (asst. DM Greg) d20+1=6 d20+2=4 Sunday April 22nd, 2001 8:08:01 PM
Bear ignores the flash created by Alyndar's spell. [OOC: Tim, this was Alyndar's action for this round; the invisibility spell will have to wait until next round.]
Sir Thomas' banging on the doors and walls of the house have no apparent effect. There is a front door, a back door, and numerous windows on the ground floor of the building. His horse awaits him out in the street.
Sly's sword bites into one of Bear's flailing arms, drawing blood and enraging the large orc even more.
Tara tears into the ruff on the shoulders of the suddenly-appearing hyena. As a result of the attack, the hyena slips to the floor.
Ael arrives in the street, in time to hear Sir Thomas shouting at the door of the house to the north. Pryte-Honos is prancing excitedly in front of the house.
Both of Uteva's blows bounce off the armour of orc #4 (AC 16).
Trace's swing with his long sword glances off the chain mail worn by Bear, but the short sword opens a gash in the big orc's thigh.
Again, Ilsidur's bolt buries itself in the dirt floor of the basement room.

Orc #1 points his finger at Sly and shouts something in orcish. Two bolts of energy fly from the orc's fingers, smashing into Sly's chest. (Sly takes 8 hp damage.)
Orc #2 swings wildly with his short sword at Trace, missing the ranger completely.
Orc #4 swings back at Uteva and her flashing daggers, but again misjudges the bard's height while flying, and misses.
The hyena stands up from the floor, and snaps at Sly (Sly is flanked, and is more easily hit). However, the creature's jaws snap shut on the warrior's chainmail, and it does no damage.
Bear continues to swing at Trace. The huge orc swings three times at the ranger, and finally connects with his left hook. (Trace takes 4 hp damage. Bear grabs Trace with a grapple check of 35, so Ted, you will need to roll a natural 20 on your grapple-avoid roll, or you are grappled by Bear.)
Trace and Radiant (Grappeled by Bear) d20=3 d20+8=25 d6+2=7 Sunday April 22nd, 2001 11:07:07 PM
Reciveing another fist to the chest Trace is unable to avoid being grabed by the smelly creature.(failed grappel check miserably at 3) Allthough unable to use his long sword Trace is still able to manuver his short sword and jamb it deep into the side of Bear, releaveing him of more blood. (hit ac25 and 7hps dmg). Grunting Trace yells, "Sly flank this foul creature and convince him to let go of me!"
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d20=15 Sunday April 22nd, 2001 11:13:43 PM
[OOC: A description of what Thomas saw inside the house when he looked in the windows or out back in the yard would help me decide what to do here. Thanks.]
Instead of prancing around like an excited 4 year old, Pryte-Honos bolts into the alley in search of a sewer entrance. There appears to be a back yard behind the house, so he takes time as he runs past the house to look into the yard. When he comes out on the other side he will sprint around looking for the elusive manhole or any other signs of fishy business that might lead him to the hole entrance.
Continuing to make as much noise as he can, Thomas doesn't wait for anything to happen by itself either. "Help!! I need your help good sir. My friends are in trouble and I need to be with them. If you can help me I would be very grateful to you. Awake good sir, awake! I am in quite a hurry." Not having been successful in awaking the owner of the house, Thomas feels that the owner will be well compensated should he and his friends be alive in the morning. Not being able to see much as he looks through the windows and counting on Pryte-Honos to give him a description of what he sees in the backyard as he runs by in the alley, Thomas makes an executive decision. With the layout of the city being what it is and the hole coming in from the north Thomas believes that the hole started from this house. In all of his pain and all of his adrenaline high and all of his hurry, Thomas offers a quick prayer of forgiveness and tries to kick the front door in. "Forgive me Alemi if I am wrong. I will make it right if I am." (OOC: Thomas kicks the door unless Pryte gives him info about another lead first. Delayed action here. Rolled 15 +4 STR mod = 19)
With any luck at all the door will splinter and swing open so that Thomas may enter and investigate.
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+8=24 d8+3=4 Monday April 23rd, 2001 10:27:21 AM
(OOC:I hope I hit him and if so a wooping 4hp of damage) "OUCH!"said Sly as he drops the special dagger. But that did not stop Sly from swinging at Bear again. "Let Go of Trace,You Slim Bull Dong Face!", with this said Sly swing again at the big bully. Luke smell nothing comming down the rope so he walks to where the crate is and wimpers at Ilsidur.
Altemia, Tara, and Kevil d20+3=18 d6+1=6 d100=47 Monday April 23rd, 2001 1:52:27 PM
Tara rushes in to attack the hyena again and attempts to grab it by the throat (Att 18, 6 dmg). Grabbing it roughly at the neck Tara tries to get the thing back on the ground where it should have stayed to begin with!(Trip attempt)
Kevil paces outside the box.
Altemia continues to lay bleeding on the floor (47)
Uteva (Flying) d20+3=18 d100=87 2d8(7+7)+4=18 Monday April 23rd, 2001 2:32:12 PM
Worried that Altemia has failed to rise, Teva drops her daggers, darts toward Sly's feet, and grabs a double fistful of the fallen elf's trousers. (Voluntary Dex check 18)She digs her bootheels into the dirt floor and yanks Altemia towards her. Ignoring the fighting around her, and hoping that she's not too late to help, Uteva begins singing healing into the druid's battered body. As she passes her hands over the worst of the wounds, they begin to reknit themselves. (Passed arcane spell failure with 87%, Cure Moderate Wounds heals 18hp.)
Ilsidur d20+5=24 d20+5=8 d8=1 Monday April 23rd, 2001 9:23:06 PM
Ilsidur sees Uteva trying to heal the druid. He shouts down, "You are going to get attacked if you are not careful. If your spell doesn't work, at least try to bind her wounds." Then he fires another crossbow bolt at orc #4, thinking his luck has to change soon (and it does). However, the blow does little more than a bee-sting to the orc.
Down in the basement - round #5 - result of party actions (asst. DM Greg) d20=18 d20+3=9 d20+3=6 d20+3=8 Monday April 23rd, 2001 9:44:22 PM
Trace's short sword finds a chink in the huge orc's chainmail, and draws more blood. He continues to be crushed in the orc's grasp.
Sir Thomas' shouts have no more effect this round then the last. His kick splinters the door at the jamb, and the front door swings wide open on its hinges. Sir Thomas is looking into a large hallway/entryway that fills both storeys, with an two openings into other rooms, one each on his left and right. Straight ahead is a set of stairs that leads up to a balcony that surrounds the entryway, with a number of doors leading off the balcony. Beside the set of stairs, in the eastern (far wall), is a single closed door.
Sly's blade also finds it's mark, but the orc ignores the small wound.
Again, Tara throws the hyena to the ground, ripping more hair from around the canine's neck.
Both the hyena and orc #4 take hurried attacks at Uteva's move (attacks of opportunity) as she casts the spell, but neither strike falls, and her spell takes hold, sending much-needed healing energy into Altemia's wounded body.
Ilsidur's bolt catches orc#4 in the earlobe, knocking off a small piece of flesh.
Down in the basement - round #6 - orc's turn (asst. DM Greg) d2=1 d20+1=11 d20+4=13 d20+4=23 d20+4=23 2d6(5+6)+1=12 d20+3=7 d20+9=23 d20+5=15 d20+4=18 d3+4=7 d3+8=9 d20+15=31 Monday April 23rd, 2001 10:01:39 PM
Orc #1 casts ray of frost at Bear and Trace, missing both fighters.
Orc #2 swings at Sly, and bounces his blow off of the elf's armour.
Orc #4 also swings at Sly, but is much more successful, striking through the elf's armour, and biting deep into his side. (Critical hit for 12 hp damage to Sly).
The hyena stands back up and snaps back at Tara, but is only able to bite air, missing the dodging wolf.
Bear continues to rend at Trace, hitting him once again and hugging the ranger to his body. (Trace takes 16 hp subdual damage. Trace again needs to make a grapple check, and since Bear was so successful, he will need a natural 20 to escape.)
Trace and Radiant battleing big Bear............. d20=8 d20+8=21 d6+2=4 Monday April 23rd, 2001 10:28:28 PM
Trace yet again can not break the grasp of the amazeingly strong orc.(another poor roll with an 8) Luckly enough he still has his short sword and at this range he jambs the tip in again and again spilling blood onto the floor(hits ac 21 4hps dmg) Trace drops his long sword and grasps a potion of healing and hopes he will get a chance to drink it soon. Trace screams in frustration, "Where in the blue blazes is our paladin at?!"
Sly Foxx and Luke d20+8=20 d8+3=4 d8+3=8 Tuesday April 24th, 2001 10:10:42 AM
(OOC:is 20 a critical hit? if so is the damage of 4+8=12?)
Sly is getting mad, he seem to hit bear alright but cannot do the damage that Sly wants. "Let go for the Elf, You Ugly Puss Bucket!". Then tell Uteva,"Teva, get the remaining Healing Potions in my pouch on the bach of my left hip. There's about Three of them in there and give them to Altemia or anybody else that needs them"> Luke wimpers and starts to howl.
Uteva (Flying) Tuesday April 24th, 2001 3:20:28 PM
"Unh, busy, Sly," Teva says, pulling two Cure Light Wounds vials from the pouch at her own waist. "Why don't you get out of the way so that Ilsidur can get down to help?"
She holds out the vials for Altemia to take, while trying to stay out of orc #4's reach. (Dodge #4 until further notice.) "Temia, my ruby daggers are in the dirt near you if you need a weapon." Then, thinking that she and her friends need all the help they can get, she begins a new song.
"With strength of arm and strength of heart, In strength of faith and purpose, We strive with courage to impart The strength that's born within us."
Lok Mufflefoot (by Lee) d20+6=20 d4+1=4 Tuesday April 24th, 2001 3:34:11 PM
Taking careful aim from above, Lok lauches a dagger at orc #2 (d20+10 -4 to fire into melee, hits -2 range AC 18), catching the orc's thigh and doing 4hp damage. The halfling prepares another dagger to cast. "Hang in there, Trace!"
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos Tuesday April 24th, 2001 9:26:32 PM
Pryte-Honos thinks to himself, *where in the world is there a manhole in this god forsaken town!* He does not look too much farther down the street before he returns back to the house that Thomas entered. Pryte returns in a hurry so that he will be able to take Thomas back to the battle in a hurry if this search doesn't pan out.
Thomas is very nervous about invading this person's house, but he is more worried about his friends and how they are doing back in the real battle. Thomas puts his shield over his chest and holds his sword so that it would intercept a swing above his shield. He then enters the house. He is very cautions in his moving, but knows that he is not here to look around. Thomas moves as quickly as he can to the door at the end of the hall and opens it. . . with caution. Thomas takes a step or two away from the door as it swings open to give himself some time to react if anything or anyone comes out of it unexpectedly. Thomas thinks to himself *It would be nice if I had brought a torch with me to accompany me into a hole. What a stupid thing to do, running off without a torch.* With more important things on his mind, THomas continues to search for the entrance to the hole that he thinks is in this house.
Ael d'Gaiaim (Shielded ahead of him, Sclimb, see invis) Tuesday April 24th, 2001 9:53:04 PM
Ael catches up with Sir Thomas and enters the house with him. Wary of the darkness, Ael flicks his fingers over Sir Thomas' shield and mutters 'Lux'. The shield begins to glow with a passable light. (OOC: Cast his light cantrip on the shield; it will glow for 40 minutes, but will not light an area of magical darkness.)
"That ought to help a little bit. Let's go!" (OOC: Sorry I'm late guys.)
Ilsidur d20+5=15 Wednesday April 25th, 2001 8:07:13 PM
Ilsidur continues to fire arrows into the hole, at orc #4. This latest shot glances off the orc's shield, and buries itself in the wall beside the orc.
Down in the basement - round #6 - result of party actions (asst. DM Greg) Wednesday April 25th, 2001 8:24:03 PM
Trace's blow with the short sword does indeed find its way through the orc's armour, to draw more blood from the already-bleeding orc. [OOC: Ted, if you want Trace to drink a healing potion while grappling, you will either have to escape Bear's grasp, or take an entire action round, no swinging, and make a DEX check vs DC15, so roll 1d20, add your dex bonus, and equal 15 or better. If you fail by 5 or less, you just don't manage to get the potion to your mouth. If you fail by 5 or more, you will drop the potion. OK?]
Sly manages to hit the big orc as well, and the orc begins to bleed from a number of small wounds and scratches. [OOC: Ceil, you need to roll a natural 19 or 20 for a critical. Can you get Donna to help you with that? If not, send me an email, and we can go over it. OK?]
Uteva pulls two potions from her belt pouches, and fills her lungs to start singing next round. [OOC: Retrieve a stored item is a move-eq action, so readying two potions is two actions, your limit. The song, if meant to be a magical support song, will have to wait until next round to start. OK?]
Lok's dagger digs into orc #4's thigh, wounding the orc yet again.
Ael catches up to Sir Thomas, through the door at the rear of the hall. The door opens into a large kitchen. There is a door on the left wall, and a flight of stairs leading down on the right. So far, the pair's actions seem to have not caused any reactions from anyone still inside the house.
Orc #4 seems to be incredibly lucky, and is missed by yet another crossbow bolt from Ilsidur.

Orc #2 swings at Sly Foxx, but the blow glances off his magical armour.
Orc #4, excited after his last successful attack, also swings at Sly. He is so excited, his swing goes wild. Starting to feel the effects of his wounds, he shouts in orcish, "Let's get out of here!"
Bear continues to club and grapple at Trace, hitting once and squeezing hard again. (Trace takes 16 hp subdual damage.) He shouts back, "Stay where you are, you piece of pig dung!"

Sly Foxx and Luke d20+8=25 d8+3=7 Wednesday April 25th, 2001 9:45:12 PM
Sly is mad, this ugly Orc will not go down. "GO! DOWN! You donky's behind"said Sly as he swing as hard as he can at Bear. "Hold on Brother, I'll give you some potion in a minute." Luke paces back and forth wimpering.
Loc (Ceil) Wednesday April 25th, 2001 9:50:05 PM
"SLY MOVE OVER!Give me a chance to get in there."said Loc. Loc turns to Alyndar,"Sly seem not to hear me. Can Elves get that mad?" Loc wonders.
Sir THomas Thursday April 26th, 2001 12:06:39 AM
THomas gets a little start when Ael makes his shield glow. "Thank you Ael. I hadn't realized you were back there, but this will come in very handy since I forgot my torches at the warehouse." Taking a quick survey of the kitchen, Thomas notes that there is nothing living in the room. Thomas keeps his voice low, but clearly audible. "If we don't find anything downstairs I think we should go back to the fight. Maybe we can do something besides fight until room opens up down below, if it hasn't already." Still considering his surroundings, Thomas hurries over to the stairs (with as much caution as his sense of responsibility will allow him to). THomas decends the stairs and evaluates where they take him.
Outside, Pryte-Honos arrives to guard the open front door and the back of the advancing pair. He positions himself so that he can see into the hallway through the open door. If anything comes out of the first two rooms he will make it known to Thomas. Pryte is also fully prepared to make a mad dash back to the warehouse carrying the two investigators.
Ael d'Gaiaim (Shielded ahead, sClimb, See Invis) Thursday April 26th, 2001 12:41:44 PM
Ael follows Sir Thomas downstairs, padding along with his bare feet. He takes the crossbow from his belt and loads it, hoping that the pair will not be in hot water for entering the house.
Uteva (Flying) d20+7=11 Thursday April 26th, 2001 4:25:32 PM
Snarling in frustration, Uteva snatches a dagger from its sheath at her wrist, and stabs ineffectually at orc #4. "Lok, I'm beginning to think that all elves are more than a bit mad," she says, glaring at the back of Sly's neck.

Ignoring the by-play, Alyndar once again tries to Daze Bear. (Will save vs DC14 or can't act for one round)
Ilsidur (by Lee) d20+1=8 Thursday April 26th, 2001 11:28:51 PM
Ilsidur loads his crossbow and shoots again at orc #4, staring in disbelief as yet another bolts sinks harmlessly into the dirt wall of the basement.
Down in the basement Round #7 - Results of party actions (DM Lee) d20+3=18 d20+2=6 Friday April 27th, 2001 12:48:08 AM
Trace doesn't escape Bear's grapple (I rolled the check -- 18, needed 19), but he manages to wriggle and twist enough in Bear's hold to drink from his potion vial. It takes him quite a while to manage this feat. Just as he begins to reach for a second potion, he feels Bear's grasp slacken slightly. The big orc's brutish face relaxes from a scowl into more of a confused frown as Alyndar's spell distracts him. (Trace hasn't yet retrieved another potion.)
Sly's swing tears another bloody rent in Bear's armour.
Orc #4 ducks Uteva's stab, just in time for Ilsidur's shot to sail past his head.
Next door, Sir Thomas and Ael proceed with their breaking and entering. They descend the short flight of stairs into another basement -- this one slightly larger and lined with stone. To the left: shelves partially filled with household food stores. To the right: a small jumble of dusty old furniture. And straight ahead, a pair of orcs guard the mouth of a tunnel . . .
Trace battleing Bear d8+5=10 Friday April 27th, 2001 1:02:31 AM
Trace drops down after the spell takes effect and quickly reaches for another potion of healing. After gulping down the potion (gains 10hps) he immeditly grabs his longsowrd and readies his self for the next attack. Trace screams again spitting blood, "I need healing in order to keep fighting this freak of nature."
Down in the basement Round #8 - Opponents' actions (DM Lee) d20+5=9 d20+3=12 d20+4=20 d6+2=8 d20+3=12 d20+3=21 d12+3=13 Friday April 27th, 2001 1:30:14 AM
The hyena disappears.
Bear holds onto Trace with one arm and wards of Sly's blows with the other. He resists Trace's attempt to get away (Trace, beat grapple check of 9), but he appears too dazed to do anything else for the time being.
Orc #2 is so surprised by the big orc's lack of action that he can't seem to land a blow on Sly.
Orc #4 has no such problem; his blade catches Uteva's side, doing 8hp of damage to the bard.
Next door, the orc guards are already in motion as Sir Thomas enters the room. They swing greataxes at him as soon as they are within reach. One blow from Guard #1 reverberates on the paladin's glowing shield. He yells loudly in his harsh tongue, "They found this end! Hurry it up!" At the other end of the tunnel, Trace can hear this shout, very faintly.
Guard #2 gets past the shield and chops into Sir Thomas' sword arm, doing 13hp damage. He steps up to the paladin's left side, putting him within reach of Ael at the bottom of the stairs.
Alyndar d20+6=9 Friday April 27th, 2001 7:56:21 AM
9-4=5 (minus 4 for firing into melee)
Aly pulls out his light crossbow, loads, takes aim on #2 and fires, missing wildly.
Sly Foxx and Luke Friday April 27th, 2001 10:37:50 AM
"Alright up there, I'm going after this Slim Bucket in the corner(orc#2). Get ready to come down." The Sly moves west to face that orc(#2).
Loc d20+3=12 Friday April 27th, 2001 11:08:23 AM
(OOC: I don't know if I should role now) Loc move to the edge of the hole. As soon as Sly moves, Lock will jump down. "OK here I come,You Sons Of Hellhounds, AGHRRRR!"
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d100=82 d20=8 d20=5 d6=6 d6=2 Friday April 27th, 2001 3:33:13 PM
Thomas skillfully blocks one of the attacking orcs with his shield, but the force moves his shield out of position for the attack of the second orc. Thomas takes a well placed chop to his left side. He falls to the ground with a thud as the air that was in his lungs exits his body in a rush. Thomas only lays in a growing pool of his own blood in the dim light of the spell that Ael cast on his shield.
Outside in the moonlight, Pryte-Honos becomes enraged and hostile when his friend falls from the blow. He hastily makes his way through the open front door into the house. He forces his way through the hallway made for humans into the kitchen and then will test the door that leads to the basement to see if he can fit through. If he can he enters the basement to stand over his fallen friend and protect him. If not he stamps and snorts and winnies to make his presence known. If Pryte-Honos can get downstairs with enough action to attack he will do that. He tries to get down there in quite a rush to allow this possibility. (Rolled 8+6=14 and 5+6=11 for attack doing 6+4=10 and 2+4=6 hp damage if he hits.)
[OOC: If it is possible I would like Pryte-Honos to get downstairs and into the battle. Bear is quite a large figure, so it makes sense that he might fit. I rolled 82% for stabilization of Thomas as I've seen others do when they fall. I don't know if I succeeded or what that means.]
Uteva (Flying) d20+7=18 d4+1=5 Friday April 27th, 2001 5:05:44 PM
Teva presses her attack against orc #4, while trying not to step on the elf lying at her feet. "Altemia? Are you back among the living?" Distracted or no, she does manage to leave another mark on her opponent. (hit AC 18, 5hp)
Ael (shielded towards the Orcs, SClimb, See Invis) 2d4(3+3)=6 d20+6=22 Friday April 27th, 2001 9:35:06 PM
Ael is unsettled to see the paladin fall, but is determined not to allow the Orcs an easy escape.
Deftly reaching into his pouch, he withdraws a pinch of rose petals, and flings them in the direction of the nearest Orc. As he intones a phrase, his sleep spell leaps outward toward the two guards. (effect: 15 foot radius from primary target, maximum of 6 HD of creatures affected. Will save vs. DC 14 to avoid it.) (Made his own save with 22, whew.)
Ael then backs up, his crossbow at the ready. He does not attempt to ascend the stairs.
Ilsidur (by Lee) d20+1=17 d8=4 Monday April 30th, 2001 11:01:48 AM
By the time Lok has cleared the hole in the crate's floor, Ilsidur has his crossbow loaded again. He lines up his shot on orc #4, and finally the orc's luck runs out. The quarrel catches the orc in the shoulder, and Ilsidur smiles in grim satisfaction. (hit AC 17, 4hp)
Down in the basement Round #8 - Results of party actions (DM Lee) d20+3=12 d20+3=21 d6+2=6 d20+1=8 d20+3=18 d20-1=16 d20-1=13 Monday April 30th, 2001 12:08:36 PM
Trace manages to escape Bear's hold (check result 12) and lands back on his feet in the space between Tara and Orc #2. That orc takes the opportunity to swing at Trace while he drinks his potion, and his blade re-opens one of the ranger's wounds an instant after the spell closes it up (Trace takes 6hp damage). Trace prepares to retrieve his longsword from where it lies at Bear's feet.
Alyndar gets his crossbow out and loaded, and begins to take aim. (Taking out the bow and loading are each a move-equivalent action. Roll the shot next round.)
Sly moves West, almost bumping into Trace as Lok drops down into the middle of the treasure room. Avoiding both Trace and orc #2's attacks forces Sly back into the middle of the room, which forces Lok East into orc #4, just as the orc finally falls to the combined efforts of Ilsidur and Uteva.
Next door, Pryte-Honos' frantic rush to help his friend is stymied by the kitchen door, which was not designed to accomodate the wide barrel of a heavy warhorse. His tack catces on the door frame on one side, pulling the saddle askew. (Failed Dex check. Must succeed against DC 12 next turn to squeeze through into the kitchen.)
While Ael casts his spell, Guard #2 takes the opportunity to attack, but his great blade seems to slow and stop as it approaches the wizard's chest, as if caught in something sticky. The greataxe drops to the floor when its weilder succumbs to the magical Sleep, but Guard #1 shakes off the spell with a stubborn jerk of his chin . . .
Down in the basement Round #9 - Opponents' actions (DM Lee) 3d8(4+6+7)+3=20 Monday April 30th, 2001 1:23:14 PM
Faced by a solid wall of opponents, Bear snarls out something unintelligible, then switches to Common to say, "Next time, Chaos-Cursed. The Brothers of Shadow will see to your deaths!" Then the big orc backs up and is quickly swallowed by the darkness of the tunnel.
Orc #2 spits and follows, leaving the weary party alone with fallen orcs in the sooty basement.
The DARK dirt tunnel is 4' diameter round, forcing medium-sized creatures to crouch and to move single-file. Make a Climb check substituting Dex for Str against DC 15 to pass as part of a movement action. Otherwise, passing is a move-equivalent action. If Lok is the passer or passee, +2 on the check.
In the basement next door, an unarmoured orc emerges from the tunnel and speaks sharply to Guard #1, then switches to Common. "Come back in and play, little man," he invites Ael, coming up to stand beside the guard, "or get out of the way. You're outside the Challenge boundary." He readies a spell, Guard #1 winds up his axe like a major league batter, and they both wait impatiently for Ael to act.
Ael (Shielded toward the tunnel, SClimb, See Invis) d8+1=3 Monday April 30th, 2001 4:53:34 PM
Ael moves 5' to stand over Sir Thomas, and retrieves one of his potions from his pack. (OOC: Move equiv. action)
"You may pass. As you say, we must observe...legality. " he says, Grinning broadly. He is prepared to shield the Paladin with his own magic shield and frail body, if need be.
Bending, he puts the potion to Thomas' lips, and pours it down his throat. (OOC: I believe I can do this, an app of "Aid Another", as my non-move action this round. Sir Thomas is healed for 3hp.) He mumbles "Alemi, whoever you are, help him."
Hopefully the warhorse will not be in a rage when he arrives, nor will the party break the code of challenge by attacking them outside of the combat area.
Alyndar 2d8(6+4)+10=20 Monday April 30th, 2001 8:06:24 PM
Aly drops his crossbow and yells for people to get out of the way and drops in when a space is cleared. He checks to see if Alteima is alive and if so pops the top on a potion and pours it down the throat. (healing Alt for 20hp)
If I find no pulse, and the conflict down in the basement is over, Aly will gently start moving Alt back up top, yelling for whoever is up top to reach down and help.
Sly Foxx and Luke Monday April 30th, 2001 9:39:42 PM
Sly jumps out of the way(jumps to NE corner)As Alyendar jumps down into the basement. "Err? Oh Great One, you were the last one up there, REMEMBER! Now the only way out is through the tunnel. And if we should go into that tunnel we are out of bounds." Sly takes out two potions and give one to Trace,"Here Trace drink this." and is about to give the other to Alyndar so that Altemia can drink. then Sly yells up at Luke," Luke come down here and I'll catch you. I think we are going to need him?".
Trace and Radiant d20+8=24 d6+3=7 Monday April 30th, 2001 9:45:28 PM
Seeing the orcs try and make a run for it Trace disreguards his droped sword and takes his short sword in his right hand and attacks the fleeing orc #2 (hitting ac24 for 7hps dmg). Standing there bleeding after his last effort Trace hollars for Ilsdur to run after Bear and not to let him get away. Trace drops to his knees to ask for healing before following in after the orcs.
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d20=16 Monday April 30th, 2001 11:25:35 PM
The potion goes down Thomas throat smoothly, but he wouldn't know because he remains in Alemi's care.
Prtye-Honos feels the saddle on his back catch in the door frame. Wanting to get into the kitchen and to his fallen friend quite badly the horse pushes forward and whatever had caught the saddle pulls free quite easily. (Made Dex check vs DC 16 with roll of 16) He stands at the top of the stairs trying to figure out how he will get downstairs to his fallen friend. When the orcs emerge from the stairs he will snort and stamp in challenge of their presence. He will not attack, but he will make them go around him to leave. He will also winnie unintelligible curses at them.
Lok Mufflefoot (Ceil) d20+6=17 Tuesday May 1st, 2001 3:46:24 AM
"Hey! Come back here, you@&%$#*! of a &%^#$+@. I just got here and you run away?" said Lok, starts to go into the tunnel. "If the Guards don't like it, the can put me in jail." Before anybody can stop him, he's in the tunnel. (OOC:I hope that a 17 makes it.)
Extra Attacks of Opportunity (DM Lee) d20+8=19 d8+3=9 d20+9=20 d4+1=4 Tuesday May 1st, 2001 1:00:32 PM
As Orc #2 turns to flee, Sly and Lok join Trace in taking a last swing. Sly's sword and Lok's dagger each finds its mark, doing 9 and 4 hp damage, respectively.
Uteva (Flying) d20+8=17 Tuesday May 1st, 2001 1:06:59 PM
As soon as the maddened Halfling takes off down the tunnel, Teva curses, drops her two Cure Light Wounds potions in Alyndar's lap, and flies up to grab the lantern on top of the crate. Then she swoops into the tunnel, calling, "Lok, what do you think you're doing? See them out of the Challenge bounds, but don't attack them!"
She will do just that, overtaking and passing the halfling in the tunnel.
Ilsidur (by Lee) Tuesday May 1st, 2001 1:13:10 PM
"I'm still up here, Sly," Ilsidur says. "I'll get some smaller crates to stack, so you can climb up." Setting aside his crossbow, the Dwarf leaves for the outer warehouse.
Down in the basement Round #9 - Results of party actions (DM Lee) d20+3=15 d20+3=14 d20+1=11 Tuesday May 1st, 2001 1:47:45 PM
Orc #2 falls across the mouth of the tunnel, bleeding heavily after the tag-team mauling he has just received from Trace, Sly, and Lok.
Alyndar finds Altemia aware but disoriented. After she gulps the potion, colour returns to her face. There are no longer any wounds visible beneath the bloody rents in her clothes and armour.
Trace is feeling much better. (Magical healing heals an additional, equal amount of subdual damage.)
Teva passes Lok, and the two of them get partway down the tunnel, separated by about 10'. The tunnel ahead of them appears empty, but it curves slightly to the North about 10' ahead of Uteva.
In the basement next door, Orc #1 grins as Ael steps forward. "Now you're inside the Challenge area," he says, with a note of satisfaction in his voice. He abandons his spell, but Guard #1 completes his readied action, chopping at the wizard with his greataxe. Once again, the magical Shield slows the blade before it can make contact.
The two Orcs swing at Ael while he is busy with the paladin, but these attacks, too, are deflected by the Shield.
Down in the basement Round #10 - Opponents actions (DM Lee) Tuesday May 1st, 2001 2:00:16 PM
Ael sees Bear emerge from the tunnel, moving at a rapid clip. The other two Orcs glance at him, and quickly make tracks for the stairs. Ael may make an attack of opportunity against any one of the three as they pass him. So may Pryte-Honos, as they emerge into the kitchen, with Bear in the lead.
Sly Foxx and Luke Tuesday May 1st, 2001 6:41:57 PM
"Ilsidur, My friend, Please do just that so we can get Altemia out of here." Then torns to Trace,"Big Brother, we have to bring those orc up into the warehouse for the crystal so see." Then wonders, specking to Lok "I wonder where that tunnel leads to? Have any ideas Loc?"
Luke is about five feet into the tunnel. "Grrrr! Snarl! Grrrr!"
Lok (Ceil) Tuesday May 1st, 2001 6:49:05 PM
Lok look at Sly and Trace," Do I have to be gental about it? If they are not dead, can I make it so?" Then oc into the tunnel,"What is it Luke? do you hear something?" Lok talking to the rest of the party(but not taking his eyes off the dog or the tunnel)"I think that Luke is on to something?"
Ael d'Gaiaim (SClimb, See Invis, Shielded Toward Orcs) d8+1=2 Tuesday May 1st, 2001 6:53:06 PM
Ael, still bending over Sir Thomas, quickly looks him over, checking for signs of life. If the paladin is not past helping, he pours his last potion down Thomas' throat. (2 HP healed. Oy!)
He then shouts into the tunnel: "Help! Sir Thomas is hurt!"
Alyndar Tuesday May 1st, 2001 7:27:42 PM
Helping Alteima up, Aly makes sure Alt is coherant and hands Alt the dropped weapons.
Aly then takes the 2 potions Uteva dropped in his lap, stuffs them in his waistband, and then proceeds to make sure the fallen orcs are truly dead, if not, tieing them up.
Sir Thomas and Pryte-Honos d20=14 d20=4 d6=1 d6=5 Tuesday May 1st, 2001 9:34:54 PM
Thomas awakens very groggily and confused about what happened. he knows the orc's great axe came down on him, but the last thing he remembers was Alemi telling him that he has more to do, whatever that means. It seems really odd to have been dreaming that in the middle of a battle though. Seeing Ael standing protectively over him, Thomas weakly croaks a thank you. After taking a survey of the room, Thomas stands on wobbly legs. If there are orcs in the room he places himself between them and Ael. In a frail voice, Thomas asks, "What has happened? Is everyone safe?"
Soon Thomas knows that the orcs are running because pryte-Honos is in the kitchen with them. Hatred makes Pryte's blood boil, but he lets them escape if they can run around him. If they strike at him he will return the gesture. He acts very hostile toward them as they run past. He stamps and snorts and winnies; making a big fuss. (held action, Pryte-Honos will attack if attacked first. hit ac 20 and 10 for 5 and 9 hp dmg, respectively. These should be used ONLY if the need arises.)
Once Thomas knows that the orcs are in the kitchen with Pryte-Honos, and IF no orcs remain in the basement, he will try to run to the kithen to support his friend. With the first rushed step though Thomas falls to his knees because his legs are so unsteady.
Trace and Radiant d8+5=7 Wednesday May 2nd, 2001 1:10:13 AM
Trace drinks his given potion(gians 7hps dmg and 7 hps subdual dmg) and retrives his longsword. He stands guard over the chest and his friends. "That bear is a coward but a smart one. He allways seems to know when to tuck tail and run. I heard something down the tunnel before Bear made a run for it. It sounded like Sir Thomas. Where in the wold is that paladin."
Uteva (Flying) Wednesday May 2nd, 2001 10:45:30 AM
Uteva flies out of the tunnel and into the basement next door. Taking one look at Sir Thomas, she digs two more potions out of her pouch, passing them to the paladin (CLW 5th level, heals d8+5). "Healing potions, Sir Thomas, unless you think you can hang on until Ilsidur can help you? Ael, are you okay? I just want to make sure the 452 are gone."
Teva flies up the stairs to follow the Orcs out and away.
Ilsidur (by Lee) Wednesday May 2nd, 2001 10:48:10 AM
Ilsidur gathers and tosses down a number of two and three foot crates, then moves about the warehouse, checking the bodies of the orcs lying there.
