DM Kent (Roderic) Monday May 14th, 2001 10:36:25 PM
The Three have spent the last 30 days recovering and resting from their latest forays. After setting up home in the Floating City, The Three have fallen into a bit of a daily routine of study, contemplation and work out. Finally just as they sit down to breakfast there comes a knocking at their door.
Before any of the Three can make it to the door, it is opened by Castellan Boldevius. Those of you near the door can just make out what appears to be a uniformed man, although the uniform is very ragged and dirty.
"Yes? May I help you?" (pause while listening to an answer) "I'm sorry the Three are not currently available" (some sort of comment "We don't cotton to Plateau representatives much, particularly them as are sent by Dragons. Besides, it wouldn't make a difference if you were from Gargul himself. They are not available." some sort of comment "If it is that urgent, then I expect that they would have sent a more presentable messenger."
It is obvious that Roderic is losing patience with this visitor and is not about to let him in to see you.
Nonam Tuesday May 15th, 2001 9:21:56 AM
Nonam half-heartedly listens to the conversation from the doorway and mutters to himself, "I'm not quite ready to do this again."
Tericus Tuesday May 15th, 2001 9:29:47 AM
Tericus decides to let Roderic handle the situation
Gareth Tuesday May 15th, 2001 12:53:32 PM
The warrior chuckles quietly at the apparent scene at the door. "Come now, Nonam, surely we should at LEAST hear what Sturtavent wants from us. But I would like to finish my breakfast before we do any business. Status and all... :)". The warrior continues to eat - slowly.
Teko Tuesday May 15th, 2001 7:44:59 PM
Teko, with plate of pancakes in hand, stumbles to the floor. "It's the syrup! There's something in the syrup. It's going to incapacitate me until the end of the next adventure! Don't worry about me. I'll be safe until you get back. Ughghgh!" And he collapes to the floor, eyes closed, with a large triangle of pancake in his mouth. His chews blissfully, apparently unconscious.
Onrad Tuesday May 15th, 2001 9:25:13 PM
"You all planned this didn't you? Huh? Fess up! You want me to go to the door so you can blame the whole next adventure on me! Well you either want to be an adventurer or not. If not, then you can choke on your pancakes!"
Onrad gets up and goes to the door. "Roderic, unless you personally want to start a war with the country that we all live within, and that surrounds us on all sides, perhaps we should hear the guy out, Hmm?"
Onrad steps out in front of Roderic and welcomes the man indoors with a flourish. "Sorry for the delay. Come on in. We're currently competing with our breakfast and it is winning."
Jus Tuesday May 15th, 2001 10:53:48 PM
Jus steps over to Teko with a look of concern on his face. "Such a shame...", Jus says, "to have pancakes go to waste."
Jus tries to slip the plate of pancakes out of Teko's hand to start munching on them himself.
Nonam Wednesday May 16th, 2001 10:18:55 AM
The wizard nudges Teko with the toe of his boot.
Teko Wednesday May 16th, 2001 6:23:26 PM
Teko whispers sharply to Jus, "You leave that plate alone. I may be incapacitated, but I can still eat." As Nonam kicks him, he lets out a low "Grrr..."
DM Kent Wednesday May 16th, 2001 6:40:36 PM
The courier scoots through the door and past Roderic, making sure that he doesn't touch him, and steps toward the table, looking slightly perplexed by Teko's antics.
Roderic shakes his head as Onrad lets the scruffy courier in and with a barely audible sniff as he sees Teku, goes back to his office. After being allowed in, the courier looks around at you all and then turns slightly to more face Onrad. Pulling his ragged blood-stained uniforn in to some semblance of order, he straitens and formally says. "I have a missive for the adventuring group known as the Three. Is this the said group that I am addressing?"
At your affirmative response the Courier reaches in to a pouch at his waist and removes a small, green, tinted, glass ball.
At the first touch, from a party member's hand, the glass ball starts vibrating, glowing and humming and then shatters into powder. Suddenly, in the area where the glass powder is falling, a figure appears. The figure is that of Lord Mohram of the Green Dragons.
As you realize this, Mohram begins to speak.
Greetings! I hope this day finds you in good health. Though in all likelihood, from the reports we have heard, you have been quite busy as of late. Let me start by saying, congratulations on the completion of your premier task. We heard of your recent efforts surrounding the relocation efforts of our new neighbors. May your names flow across The Wold with respect and gratitude!
(In the background you hear a muffled voice say something like, "Yeah, just what we need right now. We have enough problems with the Elven Council as it is, and now this…")
(Mohram seems a bit vexed now having been interrupted by the above speaker and by the fact that you heard those comments)
Now, That having been said, your presence is required at Green Dragon Castle this day, at midday, for lunch and to learn of your next task.
May the Gods of Wold bless and keep you and yours! Selah!
Gareth Wednesday May 16th, 2001 11:58:40 PM
The warrior shakes his head and says to nobody in particular. "So who are the Green Dragons and where is their castle? So far we have Gold, Red, Black, and now Green. How many groups are there anyway?". And then realizing the state of the courier adds "And why are you so beat up?".
Tericus Thursday May 17th, 2001 7:59:47 AM
"Ive never heard of the Green Dragons either. Maybe they get sick alot and dont get out too often." then he notices the condition of the courier. "Do you need medical attention?" he asks him
Nonam Thursday May 17th, 2001 10:11:31 AM
"I as well do not remember any Green Dragons. The Black and Gold are currently active. The White have been long missing. The Red were found dead by the Gold. There is no Green Dragon Castle in Plateau City or the Floating City. Unless these are some heroes that have been recently raised that we have somehow never heard of, then this is a poorly planned trick. In any case, unless one of you can figure out where Green Dragon Castle is in the next few minutes, I don't see how we can keep this appointment."
Nonam goes back to his breakfast.
Onrad Thursday May 17th, 2001 10:37:39 AM
I heard of them. They disappeared like way before any of us except maybe Jus was born.
Onrad turns to the messenger. After he tells the tale of his journey and his injuries, Onrad asks him to fill us in a bit on the Green Dragons.
"We don't want to appear rude, but we honestly haven't heard of them, except in history books."
[OOC: This is one of those times when it's very hard to separate what Onrad knows and what I know.]
Teko Thursday May 17th, 2001 7:52:39 PM
As things the courier comes in, Teko immediately rises, clears his throat, straightens his collar, sits down like a good boy, and listens. He looks as interested as anyone else in these Green Dragons, and waits for the courier's response.
Courier Alton Friday May 18th, 2001 8:07:00 AM
At the question about his appearance, Alton shrugs and merely says, Its all part of the job. It seems representatives from plateau city aren't very popular here. I had a bit of difficulty below as I was trying to find you.
Now as for the Green dragons, I don't know much actually. But what I know I will tell you. They were one of the primary Dragon groups several years ago and they were on a mission in Myth Drannor and never returned. Never, that is until their bodies were brought back by the Gold Dragons. They were then resurrected and went into semi retirement. So I guess they should really be called the Green Wyrmms now. Currently they are residing in the vacant castle of the Black Dragons in Plateau City. There are currently 7 of the Green Dra..Wyrmms remaining. Three of the bodies were never found. Mohram is their elected leader, The others are named Themov, Belvinas, Gailussar, Sandorak, Aepo, and Beritram. And that is about all I can tell you. Other than they are part of the Dragon Consortium and often council and aid Lord Sturtevant.
Nonam Friday May 18th, 2001 2:13:19 PM
Nonam listens and calmly asks, "Would that be Black Dragon Castle in Floating City where they are residing or Black Dragon Fort in Plateau City?"
Jus Friday May 18th, 2001 2:18:59 PM
"Sounds intriging. This should give us a small break from the monotony we've had the past few days."
Guesturing to the table, Jus says, "Alton, I regret the city was not hospitable towards you. We would be amiss not to give you our thanks for delivering this message anyway. Please join us as we quickly finish breakfast and let us tend to you." Jus then calls one of the staff and requests new clothes for Alton -- in haste.
Tericus Friday May 18th, 2001 5:15:54 PM
"Thanks for the information and the trouble." Tericus says as he hands Alton a small jar. "Rub this in your wounds, and they shall heal quickly."
Onrad Sunday May 20th, 2001 7:23:27 PM
"I'm concerned group. We've never experienced this kind of friction between the two great cities? What's up? We might want to find out what is at the heart of this friction before we leave. What do you guys think?"
Onrad, looking directly in a scolding manner at the doorman, pulls out a chair for the courier letting him know he should keep his opinions to himself when at work.
Gareth Monday May 21st, 2001 9:24:05 AM
As the warrior waits to hear the explaination he offers "You may recall that Lucky said there was trouble. We didn't stay long enough to find out. Perhaps we should go ask him for more info since we know we can trust him.".
Teko Monday May 21st, 2001 6:18:17 PM
"Let's find out about the friction, but lets make it quick. We've got another adventure to find out about. And, even more importantly, a lunch to look forward to..."
DM Kent ( Frying Pan or Fire, That is the question?) Monday May 21st, 2001 10:31:02 PM
Alton is slightly taken aback by your generous offer of breakfast healing and new clothes, and abashadly avails himself of all three. As he and you all finish eating he stands and turns to Onrad, Do you have a message for Lord Mohram and the rest of the green Dra...Wyrmms?
Tericus Tuesday May 22nd, 2001 8:34:35 AM
"Yeah Onrad, do you want to tell them anything?"
Nonam Tuesday May 22nd, 2001 8:52:42 AM
"I believe that Onrad wishes to tell them we shall be attending lunch. How can we refuse such an auspicious invitation? As far as this difficulty between the cities, it doesn't really seem so unusual does it? Floating City always chafed under the idea of being part of the New Elennian monarchy. Now that there is no king, the bonds have been severed, and they're drifting away quickly."
Gareth Tuesday May 22nd, 2001 12:47:58 PM
The warrior shrugs and says "Sure, tell them we'll come to lunch. I see no reason why not as it appears they are in town.".
Teko Tuesday May 22nd, 2001 6:19:26 PM
Teko grins. "Be sure to tell them a ferociously curious gnome will be visiting. Just so they can make any special preparations that might be necessary - nailing the cupboards shut and such."
Onrad Tuesday May 22nd, 2001 9:38:37 PM
"Now I know how Gareth feels when everyone speakd for him," Onrad laughs out loud.
"Yes kind sir, we'll be there Gods willing, except that Tericus may be a bit wet. I may accidentely on purpose knock him in the lake."
Jus Wednesday May 23rd, 2001 4:27:54 AM
With a sly grin, Jus quips, "If anyone asks us for a new party name, someone please cast a silence on Gareth!"
"I can imagine it now as we enter the dragon's castle," Jus begins, using his best 'town crier' voice, "Introducing the group formally known as 'The Three' and now known as 'The five and a half'."
Gareth Wednesday May 23rd, 2001 11:53:05 AM
"Actually Jus, that is something we haven't talked about is it? If we make it to Dragon status, what do we call ourselves?".
DM Kent Wednesday May 23rd, 2001 7:44:12 PM
As Alton turns with a nod and heads toward the door. He stops as if he remembered something and then turns back to you. I must have missed something, or maybe I wasn't clear, but it just struck me, The green Wyrmms aren't here in the Floating City, but in Plateau City. I was to ask if you needed aid getting there today or if you were able to manage it? If you need the aid, Mohram sent me with this and he pulls out and unfolds what appears to be a small tapestry and lays it on the floor. It is of the area around the Black dragon fort in Plateau city and the main gate on the tapestry is overly large. Mohram said that you should use the gate if you need to.
Nonam Thursday May 24th, 2001 7:31:21 AM
"I think we can manage transporting ourselves." Then Nonam looks around at the group, "Everyone ready for another walk through the shadows?"
The wizard quickly smooths out his robe and then belts on his green sash. "When everyone is ready."
Tericus Thursday May 24th, 2001 9:13:11 AM
"I guess im ready, though I wonder what they would do if we showed up late?"
Gareth Thursday May 24th, 2001 11:50:41 AM
The warrior prepares to leave. "I would be inclined to take that tapestry with us - just in case it is needed some time in the near future. If you've no objections Alton?". If not he picks up the tapestry and tucks it away.
Jus d20=11 Thursday May 24th, 2001 4:11:18 PM
Jus rolls his eyes when Gareth attempts to politely take the unneeded tapestry; Jus is tempted to tease Gareth that he shouldn't sell someone else's tapestry, but manages to keep his tongue (wisdom check).
"Any last minute things? We have until lunch," Jus says.
Answering Gareth's question about a dragon name, Jus says, "Does it have to be a color?" With a wink towards his diminuitive friend, Jus adds, "What about Tea Dragon?"
Teko Thursday May 24th, 2001 9:53:32 PM
"I need to grab a couple of things. But I should be back well before lunch."
DM Kent d100=82 Friday May 25th, 2001 11:19:43 PM
Alton smiles at you all and then says, Actually I was told that if you didn't use the tapestry, that I was to bring it back with me. After he gathers the tapestry back up, he lays it back down on the floor and holding one corner of if, steps on the large gate area of Black Dragon Fort. As he does so he fades from view and the tapesry is pulled in behind him. Moments later both Alton and the tapestry are gone.
Nonan gets prepared and has everyone ready to go by 10:00 A.M. and activates the staff. The travel this time seems even smoother than before and less troublesome. In what seems like no time at all for the distance you needed to travel, you arrive in the Hindquarter, on Cavalier way, right outside of Rod's Reliable Treansportation, facing Black dragon Fort.
Tericus Sunday May 27th, 2001 9:41:15 AM
"Do we go in there?"
Gareth Tuesday May 29th, 2001 9:30:51 AM
The warrior shrugs ands says guess this is it. I wouldn't imagine we would ever enter that place seeing how we've dealt with the Black Dragons in the past - twice now. Both times ended in a fight. Perhaps we should be prepared for conflict gentlemen. This makes me a bit uneasy to walk into an enemy's fortress on an invitation that appears to be from somebody else who have been out of pocket for years.".
Nonam (Played by DEH) Tuesday May 29th, 2001 11:40:11 AM
The mage looks at the imposing structure and comments disdainfully to Gareth - as if he should know this... "I doubt the Black Dragons would return here for fear of making Sturtavent angry. And I especially think they wouldn't attack one of his pet groups under his nose. He'd hunt them down after that. I bet this is the real deal.". He walks with the others to the appointment.
(and of course Nonam would point out that they had dealings with the Black Blades rather than the Black Dragons - jkf)
Onrad Tuesday May 29th, 2001 11:43:15 AM
"Agreed." Onrad loosens his peacebonded weapons and takes up his usual position at the party's back.
He nods at Gareth that he is ready and puts on his game face.
DM Kent Tuesday May 29th, 2001 8:12:12 PM
The Black Dragon Fort looks pretty nice as you get closer. The grounds and buildings have been well maintained and there is a lighter feel for the place. You also notice that on either side of the open gate, are two carved green dragons in a reclining mode.
As you make your way through the gate you realize that Jus is not with you and you have no idea when or where you all were separated. At the door you see there is a green dragon door knocker with bright red eyes.
As you touch the door knocker you feel a warmth like unto a living beast but solid like a metal. each time you knock the eyes flash as well. Moments later the door is opened by a muscular, aging, bald, white-bearded, black-skinned, dwarf, who is missing his left eye.
"You'd be the Three, I reckon." "Come on in, The Boss is expectin you."
Gareth Wednesday May 30th, 2001 11:15:38 AM
The warrior follows the old looking guy in - wondering if he should offer him the use of his ring of regeneration for his eye. He checks the place out as they walk, noticing everything about it he can.
Nonam Wednesday May 30th, 2001 11:16:30 AM
Nonam follows the dark elf in. Taking note of the color of his skin. He looks for a Drow house insignia on his person.
(and of course Nonam realizes that it's a dark dwarf rather than an elf - jkf)
Tericus Wednesday May 30th, 2001 11:27:11 AM
Tericus follows the others
Onrad Wednesday May 30th, 2001 3:11:39 PM
::counts heads and looks at Gareth with a look of concern.::
He mouths the words, "Where's Jus?"
Onrad pretends to bend down and tie his shoe. He looks around.
"Nonam, is it possible to lose someone shadowwalking?"
DM Wednesday May 30th, 2001 8:16:18 PM
Nonan sees no ensignia on the dwarf or anywhere else in the place except that of two entwined green dragons, which is empbossed on the dwarf's overcoat, over the fire place and in the center of the round table, in the room that the dwarf leads you to.
Around the room are several people seated and lounging around. The dwarf walks in to the room and looks at an extremely tall (7ft) brightly clothed human. The first thing one notices about him are the unbelievable parallel claw marks that run from above his right eye across his face to his left shoulder. You realize that this was the same man you saw in the message.
"Boss, our guests have arrived for lunch. How would you like them prepared?"
With a chuckle and a glint in his eye, Morham looks at you all for a moment and then says, Now Sandy, you might give these fine fellows the wrong idea. "What my friend and comrade means is what can we prepare for your drinking pleasure, before lunch. Also let me introduce the rest of my motley crew. You have met Sandorak (indicating the darkskinned dwarf).
Next he indicates a very slender and old looking elf seated in a large overstuffed chair. That is Themov. Themov is missing his right ear. He is wearing filthy, gray robes with dozens of pockets sewn on to them. Themov nods your way and says loudly. "GLAD TO SEE YOU MADE IT ALRIGHT."
The third person he introduces is a slightly portly and youthful Serebethian cleric whom is missing his left hand. There is a glint in his eye that leaves you to believe he is a friendly and perhaps even has playful sense of humor. That is Father Belvinas.
As he indicates Belvinas, a very nondescript, muscular human, wearing the latest style of clothing, in slate grey, steps up. I'm Gailussar, So, you are the newest upstarts huh?
Mohram looks over to the other side of the room and as you follow his eyes, you see some movement in the shadows and a slender, female, half elf steps forward. She is wearing what appears to be a number of layers of silk scarves, all in neutral colors. Good afternoon gentlemen, My name is Aepo, Did you have a pleasant jaunt through the land of shadow?
Over in front of the fireplace on the opposite side of the room you see what looks like a kindly looking, portly, grandfather type reclining on a cushioned couch, smoking on a pipe. As he stands and makes his way toward you he introduces himself. " And last and sometimes I really beleive least, is myself. I am called Beritram. The oldster of the crew. I was under the impression that there was six of you. Was I mistaken? As he gets closer you see he is wearing the worst matched set of clothing that you have ever seen.
Teko Wednesday May 30th, 2001 9:10:13 PM
Looking very puzzled and greatly concerned, Teko says, "We are called The Three. There may be some less than conscious desire on our part to work our way back down to that number." He looks to Nonam and mouths, "What happened?" Looking back to Beritram, Teko continues, "I'm sorry if I seem perplexed. One of our members did in fact just go poof." He finally gets a good look at these oldsters. "Um, I'll go so far as to introduce myself. I'm Teko. Very pleased to meet you." At first, he awkwardly offers his hand in welcome, but finally settles on his characteristic bow.
Tericus Thursday May 31st, 2001 7:14:06 AM
"Good to meet all of you." Tericus says a bit hesitantly. "Yes, one of us is missing, and im a bit concerned about him."
Nonam Thursday May 31st, 2001 12:25:55 PM
"I have no explanation about Jus's disappearance. He has the ability to help himself out of shadow so I'm not too worried about him. But it is puzzling. He could have veered off and gone somewhere else and since he never called out I would guess it was on purpose. Oh well, I'll worry about it later. I'll have a red wine to drink.".
Gareth Thursday May 31st, 2001 12:27:36 PM
Not knowing anything about magic the warrior accepts Nonam's words. "Other than this unusual event our trip was fine. I'll have an ale. So what brings you to invite us for lunch? It seems nobody has heard much from you guys for a long time. Why now?"
DM Kent Friday June 1st, 2001 10:09:20 AM
Looking at Beritram, Teku notices that Bertitram's eyes are both milky white. As you mention your preference of liquid libation, it appears floating in the air in front of you.
Mohram turns to Gareth. Those are fair questions. Both of which will be answered. There will be plenty of time to chat, both during and after lunch. Why don't we adjourn to the table and eat. I know that any travel is hungry work but shadow walking can drain you in many ways.
Mohram leads you all, with the other Green Wyrms mixing in amongst you, to a very large dining room. In the middle of the table is situated a fruit display of exotic fruit plied underneath two palm trees made from hollowed out pineapples and assorted greenery. At each place are green plates that seems to been sliced from a large emerald. The water goblets as well seem to have been made from carved and hollowed out emeralds. Mohram Indicates that you should all sit and momnets later several servants show up at the table with large platters of food.
....
DM Kent Friday June 1st, 2001 10:19:22 AM
As you all eat Mohram gives you a little background about themselves.
We had been active quite a while ago and had obtained Dragon status, without much difficulty. I guess we got complacent and expected things to continue to come easily. On a trip back to somewhere we had been before, we got careless and were permanently incapacitated. It was several years later that the Gold Dragons found us and returned us home. Since then we have been a quiet part of the Dragon consortium and sort of a local force for good.
Gareth Saturday June 2nd, 2001 11:27:26 AM
The warrior eats heartily, enjoying all the unusual fruit and dinnerware thinking to himself that he could really get used to this sort of thing. "So why are you occupying the castle of the Black Dragons? Don't they have means to scry into this place? I'm assuming you've taken care of all that.".
Onrad Sunday June 3rd, 2001 10:28:10 AM
Onrad stares strangely at Nonam for dismissing the disappearance of Jus so casually.
::He knows something::, Onrad thinks. ::And if he knows and is not worried, then all is ok.::
"I'm Onrad Pryderi. Pleased to meet you." Onrad sits at the table when offered a seat.
He whispers to Tericus, "I'm still full from breakfast. You?"
Tericus Monday June 4th, 2001 9:39:13 AM
"Yes, I am." Tericus says quietly, a bit intimidated by the dragons
Nonam Monday June 4th, 2001 11:13:00 AM
Nonam takes his place at the table and waits for the other foot to fall - knowing it will come soon enough.
Teko Monday June 4th, 2001 6:29:38 PM
"Mohram, what do you do here in the city? Whatever you do, you seem do it quietly."
Mohram (DM Kent) Monday June 4th, 2001 7:55:06 PM
Well, The black dragons are not welcome in the city any more as I am sure you are aware and now reside in the Floating city. As for their ability to scry here in their former residence, I believe that they would have quite a rude awakening should they try. I mean I suppose they might find some way, for no security system is failsafe, but we would know immediately if some one were to make the attempt. and shortly after we would know who they are.
As to what we do, here, in the city, I am not at liberty to say. I guess you could say we are under contract with the Mayor. And quietly is why we were hired.
Well as you seem to have finished eating why don't we adjourn to the library, where Beritram will give you a little back ground and history about The Cult Gods and the place where you may be going.
As he finishes speaking a shadow steps out of a dark corner and wafts over to Aepo. She turns to it as if listening and then turns back toward you as it dissipates. "Excuse me, but I have just been given a missive that concerns you." It is from a person that goes by the name of Jus. He says that you should not worry about him that his sister, Ladybug, needs him and that he will rejoin you if he is able."
Tericus Tuesday June 5th, 2001 8:24:29 AM
hearing about the info on Jus, Tericus looks a bit relived. "Thats cool, I guess." he says to himself while he follows Morham into the library
Gareth Tuesday June 5th, 2001 11:29:46 AM
The warrior walks into the library and takes a seat. "Just like Jus to make us worry - but not too much. Oh well, he'll return when he's ready I'm sure.".
Nonam Tuesday June 5th, 2001 11:30:34 AM
The mage snorts at the news about Jus. "Told you. He enjoys doing things like that.".
Onrad Tuesday June 5th, 2001 2:43:54 PM
Biting his tongue to keep from saying something negative in front of the Green Dragons, he simply nods and picks at his food, trying a little of everything on his plate, but concentrating on the vegetables so that he will be less full and ready for action.
Teko Tuesday June 5th, 2001 8:35:23 PM
Teko nibbles a bit more food. "Ah, Jus. Well, quick exits are my specialty, though perhaps not that quick." He hurriedly finishes, ready for further briefing.
DM Kent Wednesday June 6th, 2001 10:38:45 AM
As you leave the dining room Beritram leads you into a darkish room that looks very much like a cavern, that has been turned in to a library/study. What light there is seems to emanate from a dozen head sized, glowing, emeralds placed in the cieling and walls. Across the room from the door, stands a green dragon as tall Onrad, carved from what appears to be a single gigantic green emerald. there are twelve or thirteen seats scattered around the room, but all face the dragon. Beritram walks to a seat underneath the dragon and sits. "Please make yourselves comfortable. If you wish a drink just ask and one will arrive momentarily."
Waiting for everyone to take a seat and get comfortable, Beritram pours himself a glass of clear liquid from a pitcher that appared nex to his right side.
"All righty then. Where to begin?"
...
Beritram (The Tale) Wednesday June 6th, 2001 10:43:54 AM
There is a place no longer part of the Wold, at least not as we know it, which is perhaps the penultimate place for adventure. There are literally 1000s of dragon-sized hoards just waiting for a group of bold and brave souls to plunder. However, as awesome a reward there is to be had so too is the danger, which such adventurers must face. Many dragon groups and prospective dragon groups have gone to Myth Drannor. Several have not returned and, of those who have returned, some were not alive when they did so. A wise bard once wrote about the place, "Welcome to the richest treasure chest in the multiverse! And welcome to your deaths." Myth Drannor is OLD, so old that no living being knows its beginnings. When man first reached Myth Drannor, they called it "The Singing Towers" for all of the music made there. It was a city where man, dwarf, elf, gnome, and halfling, stood together working, creating, crafting and fighting shoulder to shoulder. It was also a city that welcomed the religions, gods and beliefs of all peoples. It was a place of knowledge, power and especially, magic. However, after many centuries of peace and prosperity, things changed. No one exactly knows what occurred. In fact, Myth Drannor is so old that, not even the year of its fall is clearly remembered. For years, only the elves that dwelt in the woods nearby dared venture near the shattered city. Eventually, even the elves abandoned Myth Drannor and the surrounding woods leaving only a few small communities to guard the gates and report on the goings on in Myth Drannor.
Pausing for a moment to take a drink from his glass, he goes very silent and then in a very quiet and serious tone says, "Be very careful, for magic and spells sometimes do strange things in Myth Drannor. Your most trusted tool may become your biggest enemy, or your darkest secret your best ally. Also be wary, not all types of magic function there, but anything is possible within the mystic Mythal.
Gareth Wednesday June 6th, 2001 5:33:23 PM
The warrior sits and listens - not really knowing what to say.
Nonam Wednesday June 6th, 2001 5:34:28 PM
"So why is it exactly do we need to go there? Surely you are not proposing a trip to this place just to see if we can come back alive?".
Teko Wednesday June 6th, 2001 9:45:36 PM
"I think I hear stack of pancakes calling me." Teko sighs, looking up at Beritram. "We're no where near hearing the punch line are we? Please. Go on."
Onrad Wednesday June 6th, 2001 9:47:37 PM
Onrad shoots Nonam a look of warning and anger from his eyes.
::leave it to Nonam to insult our hosts with a Surely question::
Onrad then looks at Gareth to see if he picked up on Nonam's "choice of attitude."
Tericus Thursday June 7th, 2001 9:53:22 AM
"Is there something there that interests you?" Tericus asks Beritran. "Is that why you want us to go there?"
DM Kent Thursday June 7th, 2001 11:12:16 AM
As Beritram finishes speaking and you start asking your questions Mohram steps back in to the room and walking up to Beritram, places a hand on his shoulder and thanks him for his tale.
"Now Then let's see if I can answer your questions before I tell you the rest. Turning to Nonan, he chuckles slightly. It is not so much that you need to go there, but there is a need that someone go and you all have been chosen. Secondly, We of all people would not send anyone to Myth Drannor just to see if they could survive.
To Tericus he says, There is much of interest there, to many people, but that is not truely why you are going. And as I just mentioned WE would send no one to Myth Drannor if it were up to us.
Now before there are any more questions shall I tell you more?
...
Mohram, DM Kent (The Mission) Thursday June 7th, 2001 11:21:46 AM
First let me say that, The Gods we know today are not the first Gods to have held sway in New Elenna and the Wold. In fact, there are people that work to restore a chastised, humbled, and still divine group of Gods to their true state.
The previous gods of the Wold were not all evil and monstrous, as current history would have people believe. They also were not as uncaring about the affairs of The Wold as historians portray them. Yes, they were distant, but they were so at the direction of The Jericho. They allowed their followers a greater degree of free will and did not constantly meddle in the affairs of men as The Newer Gods of the Wold are want to do. Perhaps they were too distant or perhaps they were growing too strong and maybe The Jericho felt threatened by them. In any case they were banished by Alemi, at the bequest of The Jericho. However, they were still worshipped and held power in Myth Drannor. Even up to today they have been secretly worshiped by small groups of Woldians in the form of a single deity known as Pantheon.
However, there have been several recent developments in the city that have become worrisome, both to the Green Dragons, to many of the other dragon groups and the Lord Mayor. There has been a sudden resurgence in the worship of certain Cult Gods. Many relics, figurines, and idols have been showing up in the city. While that alone doesn’t seem like much, several temples to these gods have suddenly appeared and are causing some havoc among the citizens. There have also been reports of citizens just vanishing and being snatched right off the streets.
The consortium has been planning on sending someone to investigate these temples and to find the source of these ancient idols and this resurgence of cult worship, but things came to a head last night.
A messenger, from the High Elven, Elder Council, arrived informing us that one of the sealed gates to Myth Drannor has been re-opened. He also told us that Woldians were entering where they were, not only not wanted but also, forbidden. We were told, these Woldians are removing magics and items previously unknown to the Wold, but most of all they have re-awakened "The Mythal."
The message was worded so, that it all but demanded that we send emissaries to investigate the problem, remove all Woldians from Myth Drannor, and reseal the gate. However, we were not told which temple or where in Myth Drannor this temple is. You will need to get some information from someone once you are in Myth Drannor.
Since you all are currently in between things, as it were, and in need of your last "Dragon" status task, we felt this would be a beneficial solution for all involved parties.
That is of course if you still wish to attain "Dragon status." If not, well, this meeting can end right here and we will each go on our own ways. Of course nothing of what was said here may be repeated to anyone.
Gareth Thursday June 7th, 2001 11:30:52 AM
The warrior decides to let Nonam's terse attitude be for the moment and instead focuses on the issues at hand. "We will be pleased to help New Elenna fix this problem. Are you saying that the citizens who have entered Myth Drannor are oblivious to what they've done? If they took part in this ... gate opening, then that would suggest to me that whatever fate befalls them there is their own doing. We will remove innocents but I would be inclined to leave the others to their own fate - whatever that is.".
Gareth Thursday June 7th, 2001 11:31:57 AM
After a bit of thought he adds "Do you have any information on how the High Elven Council has dealt with House Millithor? Just curious how they're making out.".
Nonam Thursday June 7th, 2001 11:34:47 AM
"So we are supposed to go in, find out what this temple group is doing with this 'Mythal', deal with it, get all the New Elennians out, and reseal the gate to the city. Tell us about this Mythal?". The mage thumbs through his mind to see if he can come up with anything on that subject.".
Tericus Friday June 8th, 2001 9:35:08 AM
"Ive heard stories about Myth Drannor. Its suppost to be nothing but ruins, treasure, and monsters. Are there actually people living there?"
Teko Friday June 8th, 2001 1:37:36 PM
As Mohram mentions "dragon status", Teko furrows his brow, apparently annoyed, but says nothing about it. He only says, "Yes, please tell us what you know of Myth Drannor and the the Mythal."
Nonam (played by JKF again) Sunday June 10th, 2001 9:47:04 AM
Nonam sits back and thinks for a moment before he continues his questions, "You said Woldians entered Myth Drannor. Does that mean Myth Drannor is not on the Wold? Also the Wold is a big place. Are these particular transgressors from New Elenna? If not, perhaps some other nation should be stopping them."
Onrad Monday June 11th, 2001 8:26:37 AM
Onrad's right eyebrow goes up at Teko's reaction to the term "dragon status." He marks it down as one more thing to discuss before accepting this mission.
::Perhaps Teko is right,:: Onrad thinks. ::We may not be ready yet. Gareth is. Jus' heart is not in it. Otherwise he'd be here sickness or not. He's visit and then after a day his curiousity would drive him back.
::Tericus has grown alot. He's ready.
::Am I ready? My desire is there.
::Is 4 out of 5 present for an adventure that promises to be as tough or tougher than our last one enough? I don't know.
::I want it to be enough.::
Mohram (DM Kent) Monday June 11th, 2001 7:36:52 PM
No, these "citizens" that have entered Myth Drannor, have done so knowingly and with purpose. And they are using a gate that was closed and sealed against such use. And as it was here in Plateau City, we were and are responsible for policing it. Needless to say, The Mayor has a little egg on his face, and is feeling the heat, having had to explain these transgressions to the elven council. It seems that these transgessors are and have made repeated trips in and back with quite a few cult icons and artifacts.
As for the council's dealings with the Matron, I only know that there are several on the council whom support having the Matron added to the council. There are several also whom do not support such a move.
There are several native groups still to be found living in and around Myth Drannor. There is also a small contingent of elves still living there as well.
There is very little truly known about Myth Drannor, let alone the Mythal. Beritram has made his mark by learning and collecting as much knowledge as anyone, and probably knows as much about Myth Drannor, as anyboby outside of the elves.
"Beritram, What else can you tell us about the Mythal and Myth Drannor?
;;;
Beritram Monday June 11th, 2001 8:05:06 PM
Well, let's see. The Mythal. It is the certainly the most distinctive, powerful and dangerous feature of Myth Drannor. It is a webwork of living magic that envelops Myth Drannor both above and below ground. Mythals are made with any number of purposes. sometimes they may include some defensive barriers that keep certain types of beings out or prohibit certain spells or actions. In order to create a Mythal, you need at least nine wizards of at least 41st level. The spell that creates the Mythal is then cast simultaneously by the nine. As the Mythal began to form, its nine creators and any others participating would weave the mythal adding specific powers to it and determining its boundaries. Each creator secretly fashioned two properties for the Mythal and any other participants could openly add as many powers they desired. There is a lot of debate among my collegues about the true nature of mythals, but it is generally agreed that a mythal is a living thing, a huge magical webwork of force beams given life by its creators and sustained by the natural processes of its surroundings.
As to the properties of the Myth Drannor Mythal, not much is known. We found out the hard way that the mythal nulifies all psionics. Also there are areas of Myth Drannor that are completely "magic dead". And then there are also areas of highly intensified magic, turning toward Nonan, sort of a "wild magic" zone. What other powers or properties it has, I do not know.
