Jarlswolf, Home Again
Thursday January 17th, 2008 11:45:59 AM

Eledrynn inclines his head, "Of course Darvos. I would insist upon you be there for your friend. We will not be rushing anything Davros. Harvest, Davro will actually be spending a great deal of time right here in Magpie with me, though your placement of the Star Tower is correct and we will go there occassionally." With that last part he bids Davros and the rest farewell and looks forward to assisting Davros in his future studies.

The group saddles back up and heads back towards Jarlswolf. There was a wedding to be had and Ivy's father should have returned today and started preparing for it. A few days later the group arrives at Jarlswolf. The town is much like it was when you left. People are about thier business of selling pastries, pies, breads and other foods. Activity seems heavy and many are moving quickly, but all are doing so with smiles and pleasantries to all they pass. The only lingering hint of the past few days seems to be the occassional look over the shoulder or a doubletake down a darker narrow street.

Arminas
Thursday January 17th, 2008 12:51:27 PM

Riding along with the Swords of Light, Arminas feels the pull of the Culverwood. Suddenly, the pull becomes very strong.

Looking about, it seems that Nature has never been more beautiful and strong.

"The Culverwood is fighting back, I can feel it. Parnoth's power fades, the Wood calls to me. I must go soon."

Arminas has a look of joy upon his face that you have never imagined possible.

Bralin
Thursday January 17th, 2008 3:51:23 PM

Seeing the question in Harvest's face, the dwarf replies,
"I will journey to Rowena, and present myself at the office of the Woldian League. Should you desire my aid, a message with the League will find me."

The dwarf takes in his comrades.

"I would be proud to serve with any of you again."

Any
Thursday January 17th, 2008 6:12:50 PM

Any rides along with the rest as they travel back to Jarlswolf. There is much to do before he and Harvest are to leave for the Contested Kingdoms.

"Harvest, can you think of anything we might need to acquire before going to the Contested Kingdoms? Maybe we need to visit some shops before we leave, or perhaps make a list of things we might need."

Harvest
Thursday January 17th, 2008 7:52:06 PM

Harvest Moon tips her head to one side in thought. The crest of hair, now cut shorter, bobs well above her eye.

"There are many things that we could buy, Anthos. But many of the people in the land to which we go will have very little. The things that we bring with us will be the things that they will not have. We could give things away. But if we give a thing to one person, then that person will be greater than his fellows by that much more. We cannot give enough for all."

She shakes her head.

"I think it better to bring nothing, and let things provide themselves. If we bring things with us, let them be peace, health, justice and prosperity. Those are, I think, things that we might give to all."

Long days pass in Jarlwolf, the days before the wedding. Long days indoors with many pens, many colored inks, and the largest piece of parchment in the town. Roads wind between trees and hills scattered with pictures; tiny rock figures challenge a mounted party, apes further along, a caravan of merchants and armored warriors. Upon the hill above Jarlwolf a drawing of an armored paladin rises his sword on high. Light gleams from his blade, shining down upon his sleeping lady.

Finally, days later, the map is finished, and Harvest Moon binds it into a roll with a green ribbon.

Florin Jadenth
Thursday January 17th, 2008 11:54:57 PM

Once back he smiles and nods to the group, "I'm heading over to speak to Ivy and her parents. I will see if there is any magical aid you can offer Davros and I'm sure they will enjoy your help." Florin smiles brightly and spurs Ajax into a quicker gallop to reach Ivy's home.

Once there he will speaks to Ivy's parents and also speak to Ivy since it seem like forever since he seen her last.

Florin will bring up Davros's offer to help with decorating and such and also speak of how he plans Malgant to be the priest for the wedding. Offering his apologies to Ivy's father who he knows is a priest of Domi himself and hopes the man will understand. Other then this he sees if there is anything he himself can do.

Lastly during a small break from the planning, Florin gets Ivy's family gathered and asks about Ivy going back to the Float with him after the wedding. He explains to them that he wishes Ivy to meet his parents and Jella if she wasn't able to arrive in time for the wedding. He will explain to them of his friends back in the Float and do his best to ensure that Ivy will be taken care of and be safe.

OOC: I'm headed to Ireland, and hope to be able to do the wrap-up posts with you. If I miss, that is why. I really enjoyed playing with you, and I really like Cinnamon Valley. I can't believe they killed Parnoth in Emerald Kingdom. The story lines here could last forever. By for now.

The Ceremony
Friday January 18th, 2008 4:56:31 PM

Florin arrives at the home where Ivy and her family had gone after the attack and is quickly intercepted by several women. "Oh no you don't. Not going to press Waard on this whole thing at this stage. you march ourself right over to the Inn and we'll be sending the proper folks over." Any help anyone wants to provide is more than welcome. They area pretty common people with extraordinary skills and compassion. As long as Florin gets no where near several blocks on the south west end of town.

Ivy's Father is at the Inn in short order by himself and discusses the now very near wedding and what will be happening. "No offense to Malgant in any way, but have you been drinking heavily son? You are accutely aware of whom you've proposed to have you not? I don't go off in to the wilds to find myself a few days before theses things. I go because if I don't the girls and thier mother will drive in insane." He orders a drink, plops a couple silver down and continues with a smile and chuckle. "You should just be happy your still invited. But on a more serious note. I had no intention of performing the ceremony. My place is by my daughters side and seeing her to you. What I do not know is if she has already, or rather my wife has already decided who will be performing the ceremony. I'm a brave man, so I'll ask and let you know."

On the subject of Ivy going to the fabled Floating city he is less than enthusiastic. "I hear things and I have heard the city was well near destroyed last year by the nearby wood. I also hear it has not even partially recovered. It is not my place to grant permission anymore. Well at least not in a few days. It will be your duty to see her always safe. Just keep that in your mind and you'll be fine. I certainly understand the desire for you to introduce your wife into your parent's lives and the other way around."

A few days past and soon it is time for THE event. Ivy's father apparently still has more say than he lets on, as Malgant is poised to perform the ceremony and not a soul in town seems to think any other was ever considered. The Main square of Jalrswolf is packed and it seems the entire town has now been decorated and is in attendance. Including young Peter and his feline friend.

Musicians start and the stunning form of Ivy steps from a small room that had been constucted for her to prepare in. Clothed in white, with satin and lace a full train is carried by her eldest sister. Bridesmaids flank to the left at the head of the aisle and the party for Florin to the right. Ivy's father escorts her up and places her hand in his and looking with glassy eyes that hold back the tears he simply nods to him. Florin can see a mix of fear, love, pride, joy nearly every emotion one can feel in that 4 seconds. Not trusting himself to speak, his kisses her cheek, shakes Florins hand and then turns to take his seat.

Any
Friday January 18th, 2008 6:05:15 PM

Any has not had time to prepare a song for Ivy and Florin, but offers his services to add to the music and atmosphere of the occasion.

He comes dresses in his finest clothing, with boots polished to a high sheen.

He also brings a circlet of wild flowers which he offers to Harvest for her hair.

"They are not much, and will soon wilt, but I hope they are acceptable."

Daisies, bluebells, asters, and others blend to make up the circlet.

Davros
Friday January 18th, 2008 7:05:07 PM

Davros wears his best dark blue courtier's outfit. Whiskers sits on his shoulder and is obviously bathed and groomed. "So this is what it feels like to be among family", the wizard thinks as he looks around at his friends and companions. "I will not forget. My own family is so far away in my past I can barely remember them."

Harvest
Friday January 18th, 2008 9:01:54 PM

"They are beautiful, Anthos. Even more so in that their time one the Wold is short. It is a reminder of how precious is their gift of beauty. Thank you, Anthos." She places the woven ring of flowers upon her brown and then rises up on her toes to kiss his cheek.

"But none may be more beautiful than Ivy today. This is her day, and she is to be the most beautiful here. Oh. Anthos." Again she rises up on her toes, but this time in order to see. "Look at them. Do they not look wonderful?"

Florin Jadenth
Saturday January 19th, 2008 2:14:58 PM

(OOC:Sorry for not beingable to post yesterday.)

Florin feels abit nervous standing there as he waits. He tries to remind himself that this is normal that all people feel this way on this day but then again he had only heard such things not experienced it himself. He looks to his friend's who are gathered with him and smiles to have such good friends as these ones.

Florin spent the whole night before the wedding cleaning and polishing his armor and boots for the wedding. He was marrying Ivy but he still is a represenative of Domi and to not include Domi on this day would be unfitting. However he did leave his weapons at the Inn as he figured there was no need for them and they didn't seem fitting for a wedding.

When Ivy is brought down the isle, Florin smiles and squeezes her hand in his when Ivy's father places it in his own and with his free hand shakes Ivy's father's hand. Florin smiles to both and then turns his attention back to Ivy. He whispers to Ivy while waiting for the ceremony to continue, "I hope you understand why I wear my armor."

Thinking Florin can't help but glance to Bralin. his best man for this and fights a chuckle as he can imagine Bralin grumbling about having to dress up and such.

(OOC:Forgot to talk over a ring for Ivy. I can deduct money from Florin's sheet for one.)

DM Kent - Blackbird Lake
Monday January 21st, 2008 4:24:57 PM

As Magant sits down to eat later his vision blurs momentarily and then in front of him he sees a patch of swirling mists. Looking into the mists he sees something approaching: two flames side by side - eyes, blazing eyes in a mask-like, hollow face. The face seems to see you; it draws nearer, and speaks:

"Are you the ones? Are you the ones? Long indeed the swords sleep, and I wait, and evil grows stronger."

Though the voive is a whisper, the echoes of the face's speech roll through the mist. It fixes you with those eyes of leaping flame, and asks again, oddly pleading,

"Are you the ones?"

As the flames and face fade into the mist, things clear a bit and you see a large clear lake and then suddenly the view is covered by a flock of what looks like blackbirds and then everything goes black.

Malgant
Monday January 21st, 2008 4:45:52 PM

Earlier

Malgant stood at the front of the asile, dressed in new robes that he had ordered for this occiasson. They were white, to better stand out from his dark hide. They were simple, so as not to attract more attention than the bride, but Malgant hardly saw that that was possible. They were sleeveless and high on his arm stood a large silver armbandwith the symbol of Domi etched into it. He wore no armor today, and no sword. Ant trepedation he had had about performing this ceremony had fled when he began to read the old and obviously well loved prayerbook lent to him by Ivy's father for the ceremony. Within its covers he found just the right tone for the wedding, as if the writer had stood at the alter instead of Malgant. Malgant had practiced for days, reciting the ceremony so that he knew it by heart and would only need the book on the podium to tie the ceremony together with the history of Ivy's family. He led the ceremony in calm soothing tones, and seeing the reactions of his friends had to pause in certain places to keep the joy in his heart from swelling into tears. When it was over Malgant was both filled with emotion and drained by the concentration it had taken to perform the ceremony without letting his joy for his friends flow forth.

Later
Alone that night in the Inn, Malgant enjoyed a glass of wine before retiring to bed. His vision blurred and a mist formed before his eyes and he saw a vision. He did not know whether the face was bidding him to come to the lake he saw or looking for him to try and stop him. Either way, he knew that the lake was where his next adventure waited for him. He would speak to Harvest and relate the vision to her. She knew maps and the surrounding areas. She would be able to tell him where this lake was. IN the morning he relates the entire vision to her and waits for her to show him the wayon her beautiful maps.

OOC
Very sorry I hadn't posted earlier for this guys. I saw the end of game post last week and kinda stopped reading. Then I had a friend go into the hospital and I didn't get a chance to post. It has been great being introduced to the Wold by you all and I hope we do get a chance to play together again.

Bralin
Monday January 21st, 2008 8:10:53 PM

The dwarf indeed has a platinum ring for the groom, but first, he must observe tradition.

Holding off Malgant for a moment, Bralin steps between the couple-to-be, and the awaiting audience. The dwarf is clean and polished. He is also fully armored.

Clanging before the assembled group, he roars his clan's traditional challenge -

"I am Bralin Stoneminder, sworn champion of these two nobles. Tis my assertion that they are good and decent people, whose forthcoming union will be blessed by the very gods. If any here believe otherwise, let him step forward and assert his right, that I may bless the ground with his blood."

Bralin pulls out his dwarven waraxe accompanied by the familiar sound of steel on steel.

"WHO HERE DARES GAINSAY ME?"

Assuming no one does, Bralin stows his axe, hands Florin the ring, and never utters another word.

Harvest
Monday January 21st, 2008 8:22:02 PM

Harvest Moon's eyes widen at Bralin Stoneminder's boisterous challenge. Still, she says nothing. Rather, quietly, she laughs into her hand instead.

Davros
Monday January 21st, 2008 8:50:35 PM

Davros smiles. Let no one say that dwarf weddings are uneventful!

Florin Jadenth
Monday January 21st, 2008 9:43:33 PM

Florin has a hard time hiding his chuckle at Bralin's actions and when it is time he takes the ring and slides it onto Ivy's finger. Looking into her eyes he speaks up as he had prepared some for this even if he was nervous, "I have sworn a oath to Domi as a protector. Marrying is not throwing that oath to the side though but adding to it. Now I have even more reason to lend my sword to those who need and my shield to those who need. Now I have you to defend, a duty to make where we live, where we stay safe. So not only other but we may one day life in peace and a unthreatened life."

When his oath to Ivy is through, he waits to see if she has anything to say before ending the ceremony by kissing her gently. He smiles and turns to his friends while holding Ivy's hand in his own, "Thank you all for being able to stay for this. I plan to head to the Floating City right away with Ivy,"

Florin shakes the hand's of his friends except Malagant who he gives the taur a gently hug too and Bralin also.

He speaks to Bralin too, "I know dwarf's arn't much for signs of effection but it has been a honor to be with you again my friend. I hope one day we get to see each other again."

Florin moves to Harvest and smiles to her, "It has been a honor to travel with you Harvest and I learned much from you really since your ways are quite different then most of the others." If Harvest allow Florin takes her hand and kisses it lightly, "I hope we get to meet again in the future."

Florin says goodbye to the others much in the same way. Shaking hands and wishing them the best in their travels and that he hopes they all get to see each other again.

After this Florin goes with Ivy to her home to talk over leaving for the Float and such.

They are wed!

The bard cannot keep silent, and bursts into spontaneous song.

"These two are now one flesh,
Let no man here say nay.
Together they shall live and grow,
Untill their dying day.

No man shall take the honor,
not one can this undo.
Love shall be their guardian,
And safely lead them through.

The rings they bear doth show,
the eternal round of love.
This union shall be as strong,
and blessed from up above."

Harvest  d20+6=18
Tuesday January 22nd, 2008 10:31:07 AM

"From the size and shape that you describe, Protector Malgant." Harvest Moon flattens a roll of parchment. It is a map, not one of hers, but one purchased from the map maker in town. "I think that from your description the place is Blackbird Lake, though I know little of the place outside of its shape." (Knowledge Geography 18)

She points a small pink finger at a place on the MAP north of the green representation of trees labeled the Culverwoods.

"We are now here in the north along the border of the Culverwood. Blackbird Lake is south. Her finger moves down the page across the swath of green trees."

She removes her haversack and reaches into a pouch. When her hand emerges it holds a fresh green leaf.

"This leaf was given to Arminas Calaelen by the Green Mage, Gryntymm when we crossed the Culverwood to confront Parnoth in Izen. He said to wear this leaf at all times while in the Culverwood. This leaf lent us safe passage. As long as this leaf is green you will be under my protection, of the Green Mage. Keep your fires small, burn only dead wood from the ground, and do no harm to the forest."

"I do not think that it will long be green while not in Arminas Calaelen's possession, but it may last long enough to see you through the Culverwood to the other side."

The sun climbs upward, drawing with it the pace of the morning. Daylight calls to all who must spend the day in travel, and soon it is time to leave. Beside Anthos, Harvest Moon turns in the saddle for one last look.

"Peace be with you all," she says in parting. "And may you bring peace with you, wherever you may roam."

They are Wed
Tuesday January 22nd, 2008 10:34:51 AM

Ivy does not bat an eye upon seeing Florin in armor and at his whisper she replies, "I would have been in shock if you wern't love."

Bralin steps forward, none say anything. Several in the crowd turn white and more than one man partially steps in front of his child and wife. Bralin also notes, though, several chins lift higher in deferment to him and one man to the right even apears to silently mouth the response of None Dare.

Malgant ties the ceremony and history of The two families beautifully and soon the vows are exchanged and tears flow freely.

Florin and Ivy stride down the aisle as Husband and Wife. Doves take flight from several cages, flowers and rice shower the area and a few Fireworks that Davros assisted with detonate overhead.

Any's song fills the air and a reception nearly beyond imaging follows well into the darkest hours of the night. But as all things in life, this too must come to an end.

Goodbyes are made, promises to keep in contact and tears shed.

Ii has been brief, but time well spent time to be the DM of such a group. You guys are fantastic and have some well thought out and developed PC's. I am moving to the Giggling Ghost as pernement DM there and that of the Taps. Not running Every Tap but coordinating them. I would invite all of you to come in with your Swords of Light PC's.

Malgant
Tuesday January 22nd, 2008 11:54:57 PM

Malgant looks to Arminas, if he has not yet left for the Culverwood. He does not yet wish to leave the company of these friends, and yet they all must part. " Arminas, if you don't mind a slow plodding Minotaurs company I would be honored to accompany you as far as you will have me into the Culverwood. The forest bore me no ill will on my last visit, and hopefully as long as I respect it as I did before it will bear me none on this trek." Turning to the othes before they leave. " I know soon I will take the final tests to become a protector. Should any of you need me do not hesitate to ask. I will look at every shrine of Domi I visit for a letter saying you have need of me and will not hesitate to rejoin such brave heros." Gathering his belongings he prepares to head south, towards the Culverwood and the strange burning eyes in his vision.

Arminas
Wednesday January 23rd, 2008 6:10:20 AM

Arminas stands quietly at the wedding ceremony. Bralin's speach is more than he expected, not in tone but in word. He smiles, the dwarf has hidden some of his personality in the past.

"Congratulations, Florin and Ivy! May you have many years of peace and raise many children. I promised long ago to contribute to Ivy's dowry. I will double my pledge, here is 100 gold. I suggest that Ivy chooses how to spend it, as you may not see the importance of lace and curtains. Oh, and I give you Darkfire. He is a fine horse and will not be able to travel where I go."

later:
Arminas watches as Harvest pours over the map. "Yes Malgant, I will lead you to the Culverwood and put you on the correct path. The leaf should offer you protection. I feel though that much has changed since we have last been there. I feel in my heart that Parnoth is dead. While that is joyous, I do not know what may take his place. Be careful."

Saying his goodbyes, he hugs Harvest and Any and shakes hands with the others.

"Till we meet again."

With that, he leads Malgant to the Culverwood before he disappears into the Woods with Ewan.
