Peza grins with satisfaction as her target falls. Then she spots Brom standing still .... [i] " thats odd . he 's normally a blur of agression[i] ..... she quickly focuses on his foe amd fires a salvo to support her friend. Once again the ranger proves her worth as one of the two bolts find its mark.
Edson takes Peza's suggestion and fires at the cleric facing Brom. Both arrows look good as they leave the bow, but only one hits.
Barratore is taken over by the madness and strikes out at the thing closest him...fortunately that is one of the green clerics and not Brom as both blows connect sending forth a rain of blood and sinue.
Brom clears his head and resists the new attack. Fueled with a renewed anger, the barbarian strikes at the man in front of him. The enlarged barbarian swings his enhanced sword and watches as it tears the mans arms clean off. The cleric drops to his knees before collapsing face down on the floor.
Fools! You think you have won? The green clad woman yells. Our souls belong to the Lord of the Deep, not to Gargul. We took down the best of his servants in this very room, and with our deaths He Shall Rise and we will remain to serve him! With that her arms thrust towards the ground and lightning once again rains down from the ceiling and envelopes her. When the air clears all that remains is the smell of burnt flesh and ozone.
As you look around you notice the shattered shards of a mirror, laid out in a rough approximation of how the mirror would have looked when whole lies on the altar with its silver frame laying close by. The glass of the shards present seems suspiciously clouded in places as if the mirror has trapped the image of something reflected on its surface.

Sword still drawn, Brom moves up to the mirror and examines it without touching it. He looks over it to see if there is something special about it, including looking into the pieces.

Peza, A little perplexed at the woman's sacrifice approaches the mirror intent of figuring out what you are facing. She also ponders why they would kill their god's own servants, but then she realizes it must be referring to Gargul's servant, possibly the Dread.
Peza and Brom slowly approach the mirror, staring into its cloudy image. Through the haze you can make out the outline of a woman who appears to be in the processes of breaking the mirror. Brom picks it up and the image begins to change to that of the Shadowlands where two figures appear to be talking.

As the man looks into the mirror, he unconsciously reaches for and begins to pick the mirror up. He looks at the image displayed in its surface and sees, and hears, a conversation occurring between two people. Instinctual, Brom then focuses on something that catches his eye. Barratore begins to fade away!
His head immediately snaps over towards his friend and he is speechless at the sight of what he sees. Although words do not cross his lips, the instinct-driven barbarian moves to action. With a few steps, of his now large frame, he is standing within reach of the vanishing minotaur. With his arm outstretched, Brom extends the mirror to the minotaur and places it in his hand. Now Brom and Barratore stand together in contact with the cursed mirror waiting for whatever is to happen to befall them.
It is in that moment Brom finds words to speak. "If this be the end, then let it be together...as brothers..."

As Brom hands Barratore the mirror shadows appear to leak out of the mirror and envelope the room. Before you a vision of the Dread kneels speaking with Gargul in his throne room.

Barratore moves forward, an impulsive reaction to the power of Gargul instructing him to come forward. His weapon in hand, forgotten. His shield, forgotten as well. All the young minotaur knows at this moment is Gargul, lord of life and keeper of the dead. A few strides is all he manages before descending to a knee and finding a spot on the floor in front of him to stare at. Somewhere behind him, Peza's voice sounds with Edsons.
Make a request? What kind of request? What was worthy? What was significant? The questions overwhelm his mind and Barratore answers by continuing to stare at a spot on the floor

Brom gives Barratore a smirk. "Yur right."
Brom looks around defensively at the scene of the Land of Shadow. He instinctively looks for opponents before he realizes Gargul is there. The awesome power of the deity overwhelms the young man and he blocks out all others save the God before him.
The question posed by Gargul seems out of place- make a request of a god? A flood of possiblities, which should have been running through the man's mind, are replaced with emptiness. Brom's mind goes blank and for many moments, the barbarian cannot for a thought. Eventually, one thought does come to his mind. He wants Rum returned to how it was before the darkness fell. But how does one make a request to such a power?

AFTER GAINING AWARENESS HE WENT IN SEARCH OF OTHER INTELLIGENT LIFE.
HE EVENTUALLY ENCOUNTERED A SEA-FARING PEOPLE WHO WILLINGLY WORSHIPPED HIM AS "FATHER OF THE DEEP". THE ONSET OF THE CATACLYSM ENDED THE 4TH AGE OF THE WOLD AND CAUSED HIS BASE OF WORSHIPERS TO DWINDLE TO ALMOST NOTHING. WHILE THERE IS OTHER LIFE IN THE SEA, SUCH AS THE GIANT JELLY FISH, BILLOOPL FOUND HIMSELF WANTING FOLLOWERS WHOM HE COULD ACTUALLY HOLD A REAL CONVERSATION WITH.
UNTIL RECENTLY, NO ONE ELSE TRAVELLED AS FAR EAST OF THESE ISLANDS AND HE LAY ALL BUT FORGOTTEN. IT REMAINED THAT WAY FOR AGES WITH ONLY SMALL A FEW FAMILY HANDING DOWN TALES OF HIS POWER. IT WAS NOT UNTIL BITTERN, A MINOR OFFICIAL IN THE ALL-BUT-DEAD ORGANIZATION KNOWN AS THE SHIPPING GUILD SHARED THAT INFORMATION WITH HIDALGO CONTI.
HIDALGO CONTI, THE HEAD OF THE GUILD, MANAGED TO TALK THE LORD HIGH MAYOR OF PLATEAU CITY, STURTEVANT, INTO SUPPORTING HIS VISION OF ESTABLISHING A STRATEGICALLY-LOCATED PORT CITY TO BECOME A GATEWAY TO EXPLORATION AND TRADE WITH LANDS WEST OF THE SOUTH YRTHIAN ARCHIPELAGO--THE PLANNED CITY OF RUM. SEEING A WAY TO FINALLY GET SOME INTELLIGENT SOULS TO INHABIT THE DEEP ONCE MORE, BILLOOPL EAGERLY SUPPLIED THE BOUNTY OF THE SEA AND THE PROPER WEATHER TO GET CROPS TO GROW ON THE ISLAND WHEREUPON GULLPORT WAS LOCATED. IN RETURN, THE CITIZENS OF GULLPORT WHO WISHED TO SHARE IN THE PROSPERITY WOULD ALL WORSHIP BILLOOPL, FEEDING THE BODIES OF THE DECEASED TO THE SEA AND--ONCE A YEAR--GIVE A PORTION OF LIVING SOULS OVER TO THE FATHER OF THE DEEP AS WELL. UNFORTUNATELY A FEW OF HIS FOLLOWERS WERE SPARED AND SPREAD HIS FOLLOWING TO RUM. THE TOWN'S CORRUPTION WAS A SLOW PROCESS. BITTERN AND MEMBERS OF THE SHIPPING GUILD ORGANIZED THE TRI BAR IN ORDER TO REMOVE KEY OFFICIALS FROM POWER, INCLUDING THE HEAD OF YOUR WLA IN HOPES OF REPLACING THERINGER WITH A SERVANT OF HIS OWN. REST ASSURED THAT SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING, BUT HER ACTIONS RESULTED IN BILLOOPL RELEASING THE LEVIATHAN SHRIMP AND SHOWING HIS FOLLOWERS THE GIFTS HE COULD GIVE THEM. AFTER THAT THE SHIPPING GUILD BUILT A TEMPLE FOR BILLOOPL AND HIRED A GROUP OF VAMPIRES TO CONTINUE TAKING OUT KEY OFFICIALS.
EVENTUALLY HIS FOLLOWING BECAME LARGE ENOUGH THAT THEY ATTEMPTED AN ANCIENT RITUAL SACRIFICE THAT WOULD BE POWERFUL ENOUGH TO ELEVATE BILLOOPL TO GODHOOD. THE DARKNESS YOU EXPERIENCED IS A SIN OF HIS RISING POWER, BUT YOUR SAVING OF THE CHILDREN HALTED HIS RISE TO GODHOOD.
BECAUSE OF THIS WE WERE ABLE TO TALK TO HIM AND CONVINCE HIM TO CHANGE HIS WAYS. IT IS A SLOW PROCESS, BUT ALL LIVING THINGS DESERVE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR REDEMPTION. NO LONGER WILL HE DIRECTLY BE INVOLVED IN THE AFFAIRS OF THE WOLD. ANY INFLUENCE HE HOPES TO HAVE MUST COME THROUGH THE WORK OF HIS FOLLOWERS. WHAT IS MORE, BILLOOPL HAS BEEN SHOWN THERE IS A MORE RIGHTEOUS PATH AND AGREED TO FOLLOW IT. FOR NOW, HE WILL BE A SUBORDINATE OF GA'AL. REST ASSURED THAT NO MORE EVIL WILL COME FROM HIM.
IN ADDITION TO THIS, WE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO CLEANSE HIS CHURCH, BUT IT APPEARS YOU TOOK CARE OF THAT FOR US.

I have been....blessed to have Dread's shadow merge with me, but I would ask it be returned to him now. I am a simple warrior and the gifts of the Shadowlands are not for me."

Brom stands before Gargul, his eyes never leaving the deity. He listens to his words, most he understands and some he doesn't bother to put brain power towards understanding.
Brom waits to be sent back or told to leave.
Before leaving, Brom does say one sentence. "My Lord, I hope it'll be a long time 'fore I see ya again, no offense, my Lord."

Barratore finds the will to finally stand in Gargul's presence and cannot help but to stand a bit taller as the names of his clan and beloved uncle as well as his own, come from the very lips of Gargul himself. Normally the minotaur would have flinched and perhaps even cringed as the adanantine nails were hammered home through Dread's shadow. But not at this moment. Perhaps the beauty and auspiciousness of the occasion being afforded to all of them helped fuel his resolve. Perhaps it was something more personal, but Barratore would soak in every moment and ingrain every perception he could muster to this moment above all in his short life.

As you make your way to the arch a gentle breeze moves through your hair. Never before have you heard of Woldsblood acting this way, and there is no telling what lies on the other side. Something about it makes your hair stand on end and you feel the tingle of electricity as you pass through.
There is a flash of cold and everything goes black. Then, slowly, your eyes begin to adjust and you find yourselves in an unfamiliar area.
It has been a pleasure CoDMing Rum. Starting Monday we will be moving to Tales From The Float and John C will be taking over. Please use this link until there is a link on the main page. I believe they are still working on the icon.
Lastly, I hope this last module tied up any loose ends in Rum. We did not know that there would be a merger and had to condense the time frame, but I think all key points in the back story and behind the scenes things were clarified. It would have been difficult to prevent Billoopl from rising at all, and many of the small details you were not expected to pick up on. There were also many evens, like the sacrificing of the children, that could have made matters a lot worse for Rum. You all did very well and should be proud.
Please make sure your character sheets are update with gear/wealth equaling lvl 10 so both games are on the same page. I do not believe we have anyone with a leadership feat, but if so your followers will have found a way to the new location.
