Please feel free to wander about, and to make changes that improve the site. If you are a Woldian, then please do add content as well. If you are a visitor, we may revert content changes that introduce errors into the canon -- but please do browse and edit anyway. That's what a wiki is for.

Any questions, click on the discussion tab and ask them there. We'll be checking recent changes, and will see when a change hjas been made to a discussion or main page. We'll assume any addition to a discussion page is a request for help.

Woldipedia was an idea that came from Carl, one of our members from England, to better organize our campaign material, which was getting to be unmanageable with standard Web page design.

Woldian Games

The Wold is a 3.5 D&D campaign world. All of the Woldipedia content is created to be a part of our online games in this campaign setting. All the campaigns listed in the games section take place in this shared campaign world. Currently we offer some 15 ongoing campaigns in various corners of the Wold Campaign Setting. All DMs, programmers, staffers, and players are volunteers. Basically, we're an online gaming club of about 90 great folk from every continent and walk of life.

History

The campaign originated in 1985 and was authored by Jerry Phelps for his local D&D game in Wichita Falls, Texas. That game is still going strong and the local group gathers weekly to play and socialize. The Wold campaign setting went online in 1996. Our first location was located on free AOL pages and was very primitive. We adapted a little "guestbook" program, changing it into message boards. Later, we graduated to java-programmed message boards, thanks to one of our players who is a computer programmer. (all hail "Jus"!)

Woldipedia has moved!

The Woldipedia has been moved to the hosted Woldian Games server (many thanks to our hosting company Onyx for all their help with that). And it's been given a little facelift in the process. Hope you like the new look!

D&D 4th edition and the Wold

This has raised a lot of questions. Here's Cayzle's response on how the Wold will deal with 4th edition: Here is our official stand on 4E: The Wold currently uses the 3.5E ruleset as given in the three core books. We do not use other books or rules other than our own house rules. In a disagreement between the online SRD and the rules as printed, we tend to use the printed rules. We do not intend to adopt the 4E rules any time soon. We have run non-campaign, short-term (what we call "Tapestry") 4E games, and will do so from time to time. It is possible that we will not convert. It is possible that we will convert in the far future. As of this writing (mid-2009), there has not been any great demand for it, and steadfast resistance from some Woldians.
