Grog

Grog is a mixture of water and a strong alcohol, usually Rum or Whiskey. Mixing the two together helps in times of rationing and in giving soldiers a treat while making it difficult to become intoxicated. The diluted alcohol means a higher volume must be drunk in order to induce intoxication, and in it's diluted state it will more quickly spoil. As a result, grog cannot be saved for long periods of time in order to obtain a large enough supply to allow for inebriation.
