Background

Welcome to Bonetown, township of pirates! There are many things you will want to know before visiting, so read on and learn. Perhaps it will help your visit to be ... uneventful.

The Bonetown Crew's Haunts

The player characters in the Bonetown game are often referred to as "the Bonetown Crew."

The Bonetown Crew now own two specific items that are very important to the crew: the house they live in while they're in Bonetown, and the ship they sail upon the Middle Seas.

The Bonetown Crew's Ship

The Lionfish is a sailing ship; it measures about 75 ft long and 20 ft wide. She sails at 4 mph, and has space enough to carry 50 tons of cargo with a maximum crew of 20. (Taurs count as four crew, space-wise.) A crew of 12 (three per watch) plus captain and first mate are needed to run the ship all three watches of the day. With this minimum crew, the Lionfish can make 96 miles per day, or 32 miles per watch.

To live aboard the ship while it's at sea, a gallon of water per day per person (4 gallons for a Taur) is needed. One gallon of water weighs 10lbs. A ton is 2,000 lbs, so 20 (non-Taur) people need 200 lbs of water a day. A ton of cargo in water is 10 days of travel for the crew. Food weighs two pounds per person per day (Taurs need eight pounds). For a human-sized crew of 20, that's 40 lbs per day, or 400 lbs per 10 days. Round up for barrels and such, for 2,500 lbs (1.25 tons) of food and water for the entire crew for 10 days.

The Lionfish carries 50 tons of cargo. Loading way up with supplies and no trade goods, the Lionfish could sail out for 50/1.25 = 400 days without reprovisioning--that translates to 38,400 miles without needing to stop--if everyone aboard the ship is Human-sized.

As of September 1, 2013, the roster of the ship is: 10 human-sized NPCs; 5 human-sized PCs and 2 Taur PCs. For the current crew, it takes 300lbs. of provisions (that's food AND water combined, along with the "rounding up" factor stated earlier) per day; 3000lbs of provisions every 10 days.

Current NPC crew of the Lionfish

Tula, a human female bosun. She acts much like a first mate--organizing the crew and ship operations.

Cato the Carpenter, an expert woodworker, ironmonger, and shipwright. A skilled, though crass and sharp-tongued old human.

Horace, his helper, a goblin youth.

Tommy Teeth, a half-orc sailor out of Dirt City, said to be on the run from the House of Sharks.

Pinny Liz, a human sailor with a monkey's skill in the rigging.

John Squint, a quiet gnome sailer with a pet rat -- also serves as the cook.

Sammy Straight (sided with Renchild) a good-looking guy with sun-bleached blonde hair.

Joansie (sided with Renchild) a human with a scar on his cheek.

Too-Elt (sided with Renchild) a human with a sullen, vacant look.

Justier Hurmoc the human cabin boy; he ran away from being an indentured wizard apprentice to Annoir.
